Hunter's in game detailed suit and Midnight Suns Lore Dump.

Hunter is Marvel's Midnight Suns protagonist and Road to Recovery co-protagonist. If you haven't played the game you might be a little bit confused about her background and what's going on behind the scenes so beware: big text ahead.

According to the game's lore, centuries ago, Hunter was born the only child of an ordinary man and a powerful immortal. When Hunter’s father fell victim to a plague, Hunter’s mother, the sorceress Lilith, was consumed by grief and ended up striking a deal with Cthon itself, selling her soul in the process and permanently corrupting Hunter when they were still a baby.

Hunter was raised in secret by Lilith's sister, Sara, also known as Caretaker. She was raised and trained as a living weapon since they were a child, destined to face their mother. This goes to the extent that they don't have a real name besides their title as Hunter.

When Hunter came of age, they fought against Lilith with the Old Midnight Suns, their former team. In the end, Hunter defeated Lilith but perished in the process.

Both were buried for centuries, until Lilith was awoken by Doctor Faustus working for Hydra, her devastating powers augmented and amplified by modern technology and magic. Hunter was resurrected as well, to lead a new team of Midnight Suns.

The new Midnight Suns are composed by Robbie Reyes, Illyana Rasputin, Nico Minoru and Blade, who had already been training for a while when the Avengers arrived to the Abbey so they could join forces against the upcoming Apocalypsis. Since then, the young Midnight Suns have found themselves sidelined and are not very enthusiastic about it.

Most of the action of Road to Recovery takes place in The Abbey, Hunter's ancestral home, and the present-day makeshift base of the Midnight Suns, located within a pocket dimension on the cursed grounds of Old Salem in Salem, Massachusetts. The Midnight Suns use Illyana's portals as a means to get out of the Abbey and reaching their missions locations. The Abbey counts with a Training Yard and The Grotto, a small lake that serves as pool for the Abbey's residents to relax. It's also surrounded by extensive patches of haunted land and forest.

In the game, Hunter is a customizable character. This version of the Hunter is female and identifies as such. Since the game dates don't make a lot of sense (Hunter is supposed to be 18 but mentions having been slaying demons for decades), this Hunter was born in 1690 and died in 1713 at 23 years of age, but has been going out in missions and hunting monsters since she was a teen.

Eddie's journey

Eddie is the 10 year old whose father told him he needed to be the man of the house. He's the teenager whose girlfriend got pregnant and who felt pressured to marry partly because of the Church. He's a Mexican-American man, and culturally/lapsed Catholic. He's the young man who enlisted to provide for his family, even though he never wanted to be like his father. He's the husband who thinks they could've done better, who feels guilt for his wife leaving. He's the man who proposed again but got asked for a divorce, and who feels he wasn't enough. He's the widower who didn't get to fix things with his wife, whom he still thinks of as 'the love of [his] life'. He's the man who thinks he needs to be in control, who doesn't want to appear weak, who 'doesn't panic'. He's the son who's recently been patching things up with his father. He's the father who's recently let his kid down and misses him terribly.

That's the path behind him, so I don't think it's outrageous to expect that his future storyline(s) at least in short and mid term will involve unpacking at least some of that as well as whatever moves/decisions made to actively heal his relationship with Christopher and get him back.

Also, this is why Christopher felt the need for some space; it's not out of nowhere, and he isn't throwing a tantrum.

I'll admit I don't know much about game or web dev but I can't help but wonder if some form of scope creep is part of what ended up killing blaseball. I've been thinking about it for a while, they rebuilt the entire sim, the entire site, made more complex unique art assets, made an app, massively expanded their team, etc. But after almost 2 years of waiting the sim was buggy, the site was inaccessible and unfinished, the app never even released, something was going wrong somewhere be it in their management, attempted scope or something else. I got the overwhelming impression that a lot of if not most of the dedicated fans would have been fine (or happier!) with just a new but similar sim on the old site like the short circuits, and personally the 3d assets while nice didn't feel very blaseball to me (and that's leaving out the argument that could be had about them leaving less to the imagination despite fanon interpretations being a huge selling point)

I can't help but wonder if they made a lot of these decisions just to make blaseball bigger or more marketable, despite being directly after the entire message of expansion. It still breaks my heart that something as powerful to so many people as blaseball ended the way it did, it deserved so much more than what it got and I'm still grieving and I know it's not a simple situation but until if/when TGB releases more details about their decision all we can do is speculate I suppose. I might just be in denial trying to come up with reasons it shouldn't have ended this way

I gotta ask, do survivors really hate playing against modern Skull Merchant? I find her aggressive setup playstyle really fun, and putting drones in unexpected places and then mindgaming survivors into going through them and injuring themselves I find super duper fun. Other setup killers like Trapper, Hag and Singularity rely really heavily on maps, while SM is workable most places (which is great for a dumbass with absolutely no ability to remember map layouts lmao)

Point is, I think that in her current state she's super fun. I played a round when she was first released and yeah, it was kinda lame, but I gave her another go recently and got completely hooked, pun entirely intended. I still see a lot of people hating her though and I try to make matches fun for everyone, so. Is she actually unfun to play against? Or is it just a bad reputation?
