went to subway for the first time in a million years, and the drive thru person told me since they were quitting that in five years of working there I was their favorite customer
don't fucking know why because it's not like I ever small talk or whatever, but they apparently call me The Mayonnaise and it was really fucking adorable
look at me, I'm famous. for going the same places all the time, having a very plain sandwich, and being polite to cashiers.
the mental illness wins again, folks

List of very Ohio things, from a person who got out
-I remember my friend not in Ohio was complaining about having to move a couch to goodwill to get rid of it and I said ‘why? Just burn it, it’ll be a good Saturday night’ and the other guy there who went to college in Ohio pulled me aside and was like ‘yo you’re right but they don’t do that anywhere but rural Ohio’. Absurd to me, because if there’s a bit of weed in the couch cushions it makes for even more fun
-I had a job once that part of it was that we all willingly touched an electrical fence to make sure it was on, daily
-The county I went to college in has an incredibly specific cryptid called ‘the grassman’, and he’s an alien who crash landed in the fields and now wanders from field to field looking for a home. He’s so tall one step gets him to a center line, and he is very shadowy. I purposefully took pre-6 AM shifts at work in an attempt to see him. I knew at least 2 people who had seen him.
-when I was a maintenance worker I used to have to clean coke out the bathrooms
-orange fluff
-sweeper instead of vacuum
-the sheer amount of presidents from our state. Rise up William McKinley gang
-one time the marine ecology lab at school finished their experiment on black carp predation rates and…we went and caught some blue gill and had a fish fry with all the fish
-I distinctly remember being taught about crop rotation and fallow fields in elementary school
-I used to be late to class because of getting stuck behind the Amish buggy’s. They always had McDonalds
-in high school people and whole school buses would be late if a certain train came a little early and you were a little late
-additionally, our morning announcements in middle school told us daily not to walk on the train tracks
-in college, I lived at one of the properties I worked at, and it had horse barns. Someone broke in to get horse tranquilizers to cut meth with. I started locking my door obsessively after that.
-trailer park boy I dated with the automatic rifle next to his bed and the handgun in his kitchen cupboard
-there were no e-checks or anything on our cars. My current car has two vin numbers.
-I was once registered to vote under two different names (one a misspelling)
-we ALWAYS voted in a church
-my roommate was trying to pass some guy in a truck on a country road and he grabbed his shotgun and stuck it out the window and waved it around to intimidate her
-rent was $575 for a two bedroom, split level apartment. My landlady’s husband was racist towards Italians.
-the whole place is a fucking food desert. Did you know green grapes aren’t supposed to be sour?
-if you pull out cash you can buy most anything and also sometimes haggle, which is not the case where I live now
-people stop and ask for directions all the time
-you DO NOT eat fish from Lake Erie, and honestly I had a healthy fear of sushi before I moved out of state
-football is the only sport that matters.
-in a lot of places Uber, Lyft, or delivery services are still really lacking, they’re like 10 years behind
-everyone thinks I’m a great naturalist, and I am, but also I grew up in Ohio and there is so much more green space there it’s laughable here where it’s urban what people think is biodiversity
-my brothers jokingly taught me to handle snow by using the e-brake and I drove like that for 4 years before someone told me it wasn’t safe. I never got into an accident and was really good at drifting
-one time my friend ran into my math class and said ‘we need Crow!’ And I just got up and left and we left school property and it was because a swan was in the middle of the road blocking traffic
-I was literally never given a sex talk. Ever. The school was confused and appalled by the number of pregnant girls we had.
-Cuyahoga river caught on fire 14 times, and everyone thinks it’s very funny

ive been in both of these positions as well.
i still remember the name and order of one of my favorite regulars at the McDonald's i worked at. i remember where she worked bc she would come through the drive-thru in uniform, and i had seen her at her job as well. she was delightful, whenever i saw her order on my screen i got excited bc i wanted to say hi. even if I wasn't in a window position, I would make a point of stopping by the window to say hi.
also when I worked there, when you went on break as an employee you got food half off/free (free wasn't until covid), and bc of the way it worked you had to have a manager ring you up. I used to always order 3 cheeseburgers, no onion no pickle add mac sauce and my frappe for lunch. my favorite manager knew this, as did several others. and I remember a specific day when my anxiety was absolutely terrible, my stomach was in knots and I was jittery. when my favorite manager came up to take my order, she started saying "3 cheeseburgers and a frappe right?" and I told her no, just a mchicken and fountain drink cup bc I thought it was the only thing I'd be able to handle. she was immediately concerned. when I got back after break, she moved me to my favorite position and she checked up on me later on the day. after that also, if I ever changed up my order she got concerned and I had to let her know that no, today I was just feeling some chicken nuggets, or that yeah I had had a rough start to the shift, or whatever it was.
now, every day that I work (and some days that I dont) I stop by a different mcdonalds at ~around the same time every day and order the same thing every time - a large mocha frappe with no whipped cream (occasionally also some nuggets, but that's less important to this). quite a few of the employees know me. not just my order, they know me by name. they will rush to the window to say hi, chat for a minute, the way that I also did. they've told me outright that I'm their favorite customer, that I'm the whole stores favorite. that they recognize my car, and they'll see me pull in and start my order before I even get to the order kiosk. I've had them notice when someone made it won't and correct it before even handing it to me. I've had them go "sorry, they forgot the chocolate drizzle" and "I drew a heart for you" and "hiiii!!!" and "i had to fight to be the one to run this out" and "thats my friend!!" and push the person who was working front window out of the way so they cpuld hand me my drink and lean out the window calling to say hi bc I had already pulled to the next window and when I get pulled up and have to go inside bc I need my drink or I'll be late for work I've had them express my drink.
i adore every one of these people in turn.
but I promise you. i know how anxiety is, I know it's awful and even with all of the assurances in the world, logic doesn't always beat the anxiety.
but I promise that they won't hate you. they won't think you're basic or boring. they won't get tired of making the same thing every time you come in.
they WILL be much more likely to love you. get excited when they see you. be ready to make your food as soon as they know you're there. make sure that they get to say hi. they'll know if you order something else, they'll worry if you don't show up at the time you normally do (if you have a schedule the way I do).
regulars are a gift, and easily remembered orders make regulars easier to remember too. i KNEW the 4 sweet teas, I knew the hamburger only ketchup and a small coke, and my manager knew my 3 cheeseburgers, as convoluted the way i ordered them was.
(also, as a side note, it is also amazing to get to know the workers back in this way. i can't even begin to describe the sheer force of the joy and glee i feel every time I pull into the mcds and see my favorite people working there. the ideal of being known goes both ways)
Starving to death this morning because ive been to the new local cafe twice this week already and if i go a third time ill look desperate.

summary: in which, you get asked out by a boy in your class. and your routine with hawk gets broken, and he needs to make sure your okay.
notes: jealous hawk supremacy 🧎‍♀️. not very good at writing jealous people, but hope you guys enjoy. also demetri is such an amazing friend in this, i love him so much. also this one took me a bit of time so i’m sorry for the wait! <3
warnings: cursing
word count: 2.2k
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
You and Hawk had a very routine-like relationship.
He would ask to take you home, you would agree, and both of you would ride your bikes home from school. Sometimes you would even stop at a Mcdonald’s and get something to drink, because although both of you said you were gonna quit the sugary drink that was soda — you guys never really did. And the look that you gave him every time both of you guys ordered it was enough for him to keep drinking it.
It was a routine that you two grew to love, none of you guys ever cancelled. So, you can imagine Hawk’s surprise when he walked up to you after school getting ready to ask you.
“Eli! You’ll never guess what happened today?” Your eyes sparkled as you saw Hawk approach closer to you. You were the only person that could call him Eli, because he loved the way that it sounded as it came out of your mouth.
“What happened?” He asked, nearing you, his hand instinctively going to grab the backpack strap that was hanging over his right shoulder.
“I got asked out by Ryan,” You whispered to him, like it was the most secretive thing in the world. Half the school probably already knew, especially with how big of a blabbermouth Ryan was.
And at that moment, as those words left your mouth, Hawk felt something inside him break. Why would you want to go out with Ryan? What did Ryan have that Hawk didn’t? He certainly wasn’t in one of the best dojos in the valley, and he also didn’t have the best hair in school. Was it the lip?
“You okay?” You asked, bringing Hawk out of his thoughts as he stared at you sadly.
“Uh, what about after school? I’m still taking you home right?” He asked, clearing his throat. You wouldn’t break the routine that you guys built, right? There was no way that one lousy guy could separate you and him —
“Actually, he offered me a ride home today so I would have more time to clean my room.” You said, closing your locker slowly in order to not face him quite yet. Your voice had gotten quieter and he knew it was because you felt bad, you were just like that. You always cared about what other people thought, not wanting to hurt anyone.
Hawk cleared his throat, nodding his head slowly. “Uh, you guys are staying at your place for the date?” He hasn’t even gotten the luxury to be in your room, or even inside to grab a water. How did Ryan beat him in that too?
“Yeah, he said he wanted there to be no distractions whenever we’re talking.” You said, pulling a strand behind your ear as you shifted your weight on both your feet, rocking back and forth.
“Right, yeah.” Hawk said, looking around before seeing Demetri walking both of your guys' way. He quickly grabbed him by the shoulder, pulling him closer while wrapping an arm around his shoulder once he was next to him.
“Well, it’s okay because Demetri was gonna join us this time, so now I won’t be alone.”
“I don’t remember—“ Demetri was caught off with a sharp elbow connecting with his rib cage and as he instinctively brought his hand to connect with the spot where he now felt pain, he uttered the words that would make you feel 100x better.
“Nope, yeah. Me and Hawk are riding home on our bikes like old times.” Demetri said, giving you a forced smile as your eyes met his.
“Great! Then I’ll catch you guys tomorrow?” You asked, the smile only growing as they nodded to you. And that was your indication to walk away, the smile not leaving your face once as you made your way to the parking lot.
“We’re not going straight home are we?”
“Nope.”
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
And so; this is what led to the situation that was currently happening right now.
“I just don’t understand why she needs our protection? Y/n seems like a girl that can take care of herself,” Demetri argued, his voice not going above a whisper as he and Hawk hid in one of the bushes across your house.
“It makes me feel better.” Hawk said, and Demetri knew he had to stop the conversation there or else he would probably get another elbow to the rib.
“What time is he supposed to get here?” Demetri asked, rubbing his eyes as he opened his phone. The time read ‘7:34 p.m’ and it was already getting semi-dark outside, he didn’t want to get bit by mosquitos and have his skin be inflamed for a whole week.
“Shh.” Hawk said quickly, lowering as he saw Ryan’s car park into your driveway.
And as Ryan stopped out of the car, Hawk’s scowl only grew. Ryan walked over to your door, pushing his hair back and adjusting his collar as you opened the door with a grin so big that it made your cheeks turn red. And Hawk frowned at that, he thought only he could make you smile like that.
Demetri turned to look at him and frowned. “If it makes you feel better, we can stay and watch them all night.” And although it didn’t make Demetri feel that good, it turned Hawk’s frown a little bit up.
A few minutes had passed before Ryan walked out the door, screaming at you and flicking you off. You followed after him, and your mascara was smeared. You screamed back at him and held the door open, watching him as he got into his car.
Hawk almost stood up right then and there, but Demetri quickly pulled him by his shirt.
He watched you as you let out a sob, and his heart twisted a bit. He watched you pull out your phone and quickly open it, your fingers moving across the screen at basically the speed of light. He watched you put your phone up to your ear, and almost instantly, his phone started ringing.
He stumbled to take it out of his pocket, immediately answering and placing it close to his ear. Hawk sat on his butt, motioning Demetri to do the same as they both got close enough so that they could hear what was coming from the other side of the line.
“Uh, E-Eli ?” You stumbled on your words a bit as your voice started to crack.
“Hey Y/n, are you okay?” He asked, his hands gripping the phone tighter.
“Not really, I was wondering if you could come over.” You whispered into the phone.
There was a small pause on the line as Hawk questioned how he was supposed to get to your house in a reasonable time without actually driving to your house. I mean, he was basically two hundred feet away from it right now.
“Nevermind, it’s fine. I shouldn’t have asked.” You said, almost hanging up before you heard Hawk’s desperate voice on the other end.
“No! No! It’s fine, I’m on my way now.” He said, turning to look at Demetri as he said those words.
Now, Demetri wasn’t as calm as Hawk was, and he was full on yelling at him while only being able to mouth his concerns.
“Great, see you in 10?” You asked, a sniffle coming from the other line of the phone, and Hawk nodded. Almost forgetting that you couldn’t see him.
“Yeah, definietly.” He said, the line went blank as you hung up and he felt a small smile grow on his face.
“Okay, genius. How are you gonna be here in 10 minutes when you’re already here?” Demetri asked, placing his hands on Hawk’s shoulder.
“I’ll take you back home, and then i’ll come back.”
“Great.”
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Hawk’s feet landed on the driveway of your house, and he hid his bike somewhere near a bush as he walked over to your front door. Hawk knocked on it as he fixed his shirt, making sure he didn't look as messy as he thought he did.
When you open the door, Hawk’s world stopped for a while. You looked beautiful, in a way that nothing or no one else could compare. You had taken off the makeup that you had been wearing, so your face was bear. Hawk could see every scar, blemish, and small freckle on your face. Your hair was in a bun, there was a few pieces sticking out and your hair had gotten a bit frizzy, but you still looked perfect to him. And the oversized sweater you were wearing reached your mid-thigh, and you had sweatpants covering the rest of your legs.
“That’s certainly an outfit to remember for a first date,” Hawk joked, his eyes meeting yours. He sort of realized on the way that he had to pretend not to know about anything that happened, which would be hard since the only thing replaying on his mind was punching the living shit out of Ryan.
You laughed a little at his comment and moved your body so that he could come in, and Hawk noticed your lack of words as he stepped in.
Hawk started to look around your house, the entryway was clean, but he could tell there was a leftover footprint that seemed too big to be yours.
“Where are your parents?” He asked, it was a thing he had been meaning to ask ever since school, but he didn’t want to invade anything or sound overly possessive after you told him that Ryan was coming over. I mean, who was he to ask you?
“Business.” Was all you said as you closed the door and locked it. You turned around and stared at him admiring your house, you had tried your hardest to clean it. And even made sure to put a movie on the TV in the living room.
“So, what happened?” Hawk asked, clearing his throat as he turned to look at you. His breath got knocked out of him as you wrapped your arms around him, your head laying on his chest. It took him a moment to notice what you were doing before he wrapped his arms around you.
It was like there was nothing else either of you could pay attention to. The only noise that engulfed your ears were Hawk’s breathing and his heart beating. The smell of his cologne took over your sense of smell, it didn’t smell bad, and it also wasn’t strong enough to make you cough. Hawk had laid his chin on your head, and so the smell of the coconut shampoo that you wash your hair with was all that filled his nose.
“He was an asshole,” you sniffled, closing your eyes, slowly praising yourself in your head for not wearing mascara. You would’ve definitely stained Hawk’s hoodie by now if you had.
“Kinda figured,” Hawk whispered, rubbing small circles on your back with his hand. “I mean, he kinda looks like an asshole doesn’t he?” Hawk said, still holding you close.
You pulled back a little to the point where you were still in his arms but where he could see you face to face. You gave him a look, and he immediately smiled at it.
“His hairs kinda bad too, definitely not as amazing as mine.” Hawk mumbled, his eyebrows furrowing a little as you laughed a little.
“I don’t think anyone’s hair is better than yours,” You said, and it made him smile a little bit bigger.
“And he doesn’t have muscles as big as mine,” He continued, not stopping to hear the little comment you would make.
“And he also doesn’t ride you home everyday on your bike. He doesn’t take you to class. He doesn’t make sure to tell you when your mascara is smeared, and he definitely doesn’t tell you how beautiful you look all the time.” His rant only stopped when you placed your hand on his cheek.
“You also don’t tell me how beautiful i look,” You said, your voice barely above a whisper as your eyes flickered between Hawk’s lips and eyes.
“Well, y/n, you look absolutely gorgeous.” He whispered, leaning closer to you as he placed his forehead on yours.
“I think you should prove it.” You whispered, your eyes staying focused on his lips.
“I think I should too.” He said, before closing the distance between you two and finally connecting both of your lips.
The kiss was amazing, there were no fireworks like everyone said there would be. It felt warm, like a winter fire that was barely getting lit. As the kiss went on longer, the fire grew and grew. It wasn’t like there were fireworks bursting, it felt calm. Both of you felt complete by the kiss, and as you pulled away, both of you closed your eyes and laid your forehead on each other. Taking a moment to take in the kiss that just happened, both of you with smiles on your face.
Let’s just say that your night ended with both of you laughing and crying at Wall-E, and other disney movies that both of you were probably too old for.

Hi! I was wondering if you could write something for HoO boys being your boy friend? Also, do you think it’s possible for you to do a trans (ftm) hispanic demiboy? Thanks!
Oh yeah sure! As a Demi-Boy it's my duty!
This is over 900 words so there's gonna be a part two (sorry bout that)
HOO Boys with A Hispanic!Demi-Boy! S/O
Frank Zhang
Tumblr media
"Wait your a demi-boy? Like cause you're a demi-god orr"
"Oh okay, totally unrelated gotcha."
You probably came out to Frank after the Son of neptune, scared you'd never get the chance to tell him.
He asked some silly questions but obviously accepted you! He would do more research via internet but demi-gods and phones don't mix
(What do you mean he's been asking other trans demi-gods how to better understand, you obviously got the wrong chinese-canadian shape-shifting son of mars)
Anyway he loves you, and tries to switch pronouns often ❤️ (if you use multiple)
If you're ever feeling dysphoric, he'll turn into an cuddly animal of your choice to make you feel better.
Will turn into a bear and (threaten to)  eat a transphobe
(They probably taste funny lol)
(If you're bilingual) You, him and Jason sit in a circle and speak in spanish, canadian french, and latin, knowing damn well y'all don't understand each other.
Y'all be looking like this
Tumblr media
Don't even try having Thanksgiving with him
"Happy Thanksgiving!"
".... I'm canadian."
"Oh, uhhh happy thursday then??"
Like sir, do you want some turkey or not?
Jason Grace
Tumblr media
"So wait, if you're a demi-god and a demi-boy do they like cancel each other out?"
"I- baby no—"
"Can I call you God-Boy?"
Y'all give him a minute, boy brain ain't right after getting knocked out so many times 🤣
Being called God-Boy does make you feel powerful ngl
You probably "dated" during hoo, and after you started dating for real came out to him.
Uses both pronouns, like every other paragraph. (If you use multiple)
If you're a greek demi-god, he loves to take you over to Camp Jupiter, and take you on tours around the parthenon and go on dates
If you're roman, he takes you out to Camp half-blood and maybe even tour manhattan!
(Gotta be a group date though, he's been at Camp Jupiter since he was 3 and only left on quests, he don't know where he going)
(If your bilingual) He'll teach you latin if you teach him spanish! It's always cool to know another language, especially if you're partner speaks it.
If you're dysphoric, y'all take naps together.
You don't have to stress, whatever's outside can wait a while, right now it's just you and him ❤️
You're his little God-Boy, he loves you
What do you mean he specifically asked to do whatever chores you had that day? Uh-huh couldn't be him 🛑🖐️ stop playing
Don't let him meet your mortal parent
Boy be so nervous he don't know what to do
"Jason, dear could you pass me the (fav. Food) "
"Yes  (Mr./Mrs/Mx.) L/n, I will have a ham sandwich "
"..."
"..."
"..."
He left with a ham sandwich and a red face
He got invited back over, so it wasn't too bad tho lol
Leo Valdez
Tumblr media
He already knew you were a demi-boy!
You probably came out to Leo before y'all started dating, and maybe before y'all knew you were demi-gods, he just has that "yes I'd beat a bitch's ass and lose, and what about it?" Energy y'know??
Obviously you could trust him.
Will try to to use both pronouns, but might stick with one for a while before switching it up and then sticking to one again
Y'all probably talk shit about people together honestly.
Let's be honest, if you were bilingual, with a boyfriend who was also bilingual, and y'all didn't like this one person you'd talk shit right in front of them.
If you're really petty you'd make it obvious too.
If you're ever feeling some dysphoria, don't worry cause Leo got dis-for-ya!
Iamsosorry
But seriously he'll build you tiny trinkets and stuff to help you feel better
Greatifyoureahoarderlikemelol
If you want, you could help him with building, or even build something yourself!
(You: somehow builds a bomb or something equally dangerous
Leo:
Tumblr media
)
Y'all like to make smores, and probably sing the campfire song from spongebob while doing it
(Whether it's on Leo or an actual campfire depends on y'all mood)
"OUR C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E  S-O-N-G SONG"
"Hey, you did it without stuttering this time!"
Nico di Angelo
Tumblr media
"So you trans your gender??"
"Uh no, I'm transgender, it doesn't work like that—"
"How do you trans your gender?? Is it a like a process to get your gender trans or does it happen all at once?"
This boy a whole boomer, lord have mercy 😭🖐️
Growing up in early 1900's he doesn't really understand, but he'll try.
If he feels like he's bothering you with too many with questions, he'll go bother Annabeth instead.
Uses both pronouns, despite not knowing how you can have more than one. (If you use multiple)
Will do his best to get rid of any internalized transphobia he might have. Even if he grew up around Bianca, it was a hateful time back then and he might have biases.
You're dysphoric, but how??
He understands how dysphoria works, as much as it pains him to know that you're hurting, he didn't understand how it could effect someone like you.
You were much braver than he was, not being outed and actually coming out on your own. You were the man you said you were and more.
Sometimes y'all just lay down outside under a tree and he'll sing to you.
(Y'all know I'm talking about Soldatino don't even play)
Those days can go from bad to okay to great, depending on what y'all do afterward.
Sometimes y'all go out to eat at McDonald's via shadow travel, and I hope you got cash cause the seven gonna want some too lol (this includes Rachel and Will btw)
"So you're ordering (big af order) to go, for just the two of you?"
"We're eating for nine."
"No baby we're eating for eleven remember?"
Cashier, who's just trying to earn they minimum wage:
Tumblr media
I don't know how to end this lol
Um part 2 will be out soon, maybe like a day from now if I don't forget lol
Thank you for requesting! I hope it was up to your standards, if not then I hope you enjoyed it anyway, cause I enjoyed writing it!
If you're interested in my writing pls request, I only have one other to do so it might be done soon!
Also, I hope Leo's bilingual hc isn't offensive in anyway. I'm just realizing how rude that may sound. If it is I'll write a new one. I'm not bilingual but if I was that's what I'd do. Again, I hope I didn't come off as ignorant on that hc.

A Small Regret
CW: Dark, Gainer Fantasy, Heart Attack, Death
Dresden applied soap to a washcloth he was using to wash his face, rinsing the cloth then under the warm water.  Feeling the warmth in his hands, he brought the cloth up to his face and gently rubbed his cheeks and his massive chin.  Drying his face on the hand towel beside him, Dresden looked at his body and was not happy.  Huge breasts, a massive gut that flopped in the sink, and giant jowls showed years of massive food blowouts due to his food addiction.  Dresden pulled his belly out of the sink, which was slightly wet, and dried his belly off on his shorts.  Moving over to his bathroom scale, Dresden waited for the sound of the scale to prompt him to step up on it.  He did, and waited a few minutes…564 lbs.  Dresden smiled, he lost 10 lbs since seeing Dr. Then at the weight loss clinic.  He was going in for the “surgery” in 2 days.  He waddled out of the bathroom and over to his bed, where he sat down, hearing creaking noises.
“God, I want McDonald’s so bad….”, Dresden wondered as he flipped through the food delivery apps on his phone.  Taking heavy breaths, Dresden thought of how he had to lose weight for his job and for his family.  Truth be told, Dresden was rather okay as a larger person, it was society that he disliked.  He often raged at society, as he loved himself, however society wanted him to be something else entirely.
He flipped through the straight dating apps on his phone, however he would often, in secret, look at clothes shopping magazines at the models.  As his clothes were often in the 8-9 XL bracket, usually he admired big men, their strength and of course, their drive to eat.
Eating was all Dresden could think about.  From morning until night, thinking about recipes, new restaurants, different experiences, Dresden loved the feeling of anything in his mouth.
He even loved, secretly, to pleasure guys also, going down to the local truckstop on occasion.  There was one experience that he liked, however had to always dismiss it due to the need to keep his job.
One night, 2 months ago, Dresden met up with a man known as “Zed”, who was looking to provide any big guy with a good time, providing that they put on a blindfold and would not allow anyone to see him.  Zed-of course-was an alias.  Zed met with Dresden in the dark, at 3AM in the morning, at a local truckstop.   Upon meeting, Dresden hobbled out of his small car, struggling to get out.  Zed watched him and smiled from a distance.  He was going to have fun with this fatty.
Zed, wearing a ski mask, pulled Dresden aside, and told him not to look at him and to wear a blindfold.  Dresden, wanting the ability to receive any release as a big guy (it was 3 years since he last had sex with anyone), obliged.
All Dresden remembers at that point is Zed pulled him into a van and kept feeding him fried chicken, and sucked him off.
It was the best experience Dresden ever had sexually, and he could not stop thinking about it.
Which is why this surgery sucked.  Dresden looked for months, trying to find Zed again, however could not find him.
And so to keep his job and to possibly find a partner, Dresden begrudgingly was forced into gastric sleeve surgery.
Looking at his phone, Dresden realized he wanted to have his obesity go out with one “big bang” to end all binges.  He would still be within the threshold of Dr. Then’s requirements and be ready for the surgery in 2 days.
Waddling over to the bedroom mirror, Dresden took a picture of himself with just his briefs on.  He then called an erotic bakery and requested a special order - an entire sheet cake with his naked picture on it, made of buttercream and chocolate.  They let him know, while it was a weird request, they would honor it and it would be ready tomorrow.
Dresden hung up the phone, put on his CPAP mask, and fell asleep, smiling and drifting off, thinking about his cake tomorrow.
Waking up, Dresden started his day, first by eating a small breakfast (god he hated this diet), then showering.  Showering was really hard for Dresden since there was so much of him...he needed a special wand to get to all of his areas, especially those between his thighs and belly.  His ass was huge, and he thankfully could get there with the wand.  As he washed his body, his huge belly and moobs jiggled as he tried to move in the shower.  He just wanted to sit down so bad, as all of the fat made him so tired.  He got out of the shower, dried off, and got dressed.
He decided to put on a tight t-shirt to be proud that he was engaging in his last day of “obesity”.  He was so happy he could eat this cake...it was all he could think of.
Getting in his small car, squeezing into it, Dresden drove to the bakery.  Arriving at the bakery, he saw a familiar figure in the car behind him, however he couldn’t pinpoint where he saw this person.
Dresden parked his car and squeezed out.  The other person in the car who was trailing him parked across the street, and he saw him get out.
He could swear this guy was watching him.  Dresden walked into the bakery and picked up the cake.
“Are you the guy who ordered the fatty cake?”, the baker asked.
“Yup!”, Dresden happily exclaimed.
“God, damn, making that made me want to diet.  This person is really fat, what a lardass.”, the baker joked.
Quickly realizing that the cake’s image was Dresden, the baker’s face went white.  “I am so sorry sir.  Here you go…”, the baker stammered, as he pushed the cake over to Dresden, taking the cash from the sweaty fat man’s hand.
Dresden pulled the Costco sized sheet cake up off of the counter, and going back outside, he waddled over to his car.  He then took a deep breath and felt a presence behind him.
Everything went black.
Dresden woke up 3 hours later in a bed in a weird room.  There were steel pipes around him and the cake was beside him.  He wasn’t shackled and could use his hands and legs.  He was laying on his left side.
“I know what you really, really want.”, uttered a familiar voice.
Rolling over in bed, Dresden saw the man who was waiting across the street.
“Are you….Zed??”, Dresden guessed.
The man smiled.  “Yes.  And you will eat this cake and so much more.”, he smirked.  “Oh yeah, and I took the liberty of cancelling your appointment and your surgery with Dr. Then.  You won’t be needing it anyway.  Hogs don’t need their capacities restricted.”
Dresden was scared, but relieved.  He could finally be free to eat!
Dresden moved to the table with the cake and started hamfisting it into his face.  “Thats right, experience that re-gain.  Get bigger and fatter.  Eat more and more.”, Zed stated as he started bringing up the food delivery apps, placing order after order of Dresden’s favorite food.
As the orders started coming, Dresden put aside one piece of cake for later, and started eating all of the newly ordered burgers, fries, pizza, and Dresden’s favorite, fried chicken.  Dresden was in heaven as he ate, he could see his lost weight starting to come back, his ass and belly ballooning.  It was getting harder and harder to shift his weight around as he ate.
After his 8 family meal bingefest, Zed brought Dresden into a shower room.  He used the proper equipment to clean Dresden.
“I want to live here”, Dresden stammered, between heaving breaths.
“Oh this is your new home.  I have sold off your belongings already and this is your life now.  You exist but to eat and be my pig.  You will be my immobile hog.”, Zed calmly stated.
Dresden was so happy.  His life could revolve around food.  Zed helped the growing Dresden back to his bed, and brought him his 3rd and 4th meals for the day, all family size.
6 months later….
Dresden was trying to get out of bed to eat but couldn’t move.  Zed helped him move over to a new bed, one with a scale, and as Dresden was wobbling around, Dresden injured his foot.  Trying to put any pressure on it, Dresden was met with extreme pain.  Zed put his leg up onto a pillow.
“It's hog.  You're never walking again.”, Zed stated.
Moving the bariatric bed up so Dresden could eat, he heard Zed preparing the bed’s scale.  A sound came out of it - 952 lbs.
Dresden was in shock.  He realized that his life, any hope of living a normal life, was over.  Zed laughed, “My hog, look at you.”
Massive stretch marks inflamed Dresden’s belly, his thighs covering any semblance of manhood he had.  A huge fat pad covered his deeply buried cock, begging for any release.  His moobs, so fat, had nipples stretched so far out that they touched his elbow.  The last thing Zed noticed was Dresden’s side fat and his ass.  It was covering the entire bed now.  It was only 6 months, and Zed knew he was going to need to upgrade.
Dresden wanted Zed to suck him off so bad.  His deeply buried cock needed it.  “Please, can you, get me off?”, Dresden pleaded.  He couldn’t reach his cock since about 3 weeks prior.
“Only if you eat.”, Zed stated.
Dresden ate and felt good as Zed helped locate his lost cock in all of his fat.  Using the fat to lube up his dick, Dresden started to get off.  As he was getting off, the world started to go blurry.
“Zed, maybe you should stop.”, Dresden stammered.
Zed began to push harder and harder knowing this was the end for Dresden.  He pushed more and more.
Dresden felt his chest seizing up as he was getting off.  Jiggling his belly one last time, and shoving in food one last time, his last thought as he gave one last orgasm was a regret.  A small regret.
The regret was that he didn’t have that last piece of cake.
Dresden saw white as he took his final breath.

Note
In honor of me getting food poisoning from a high end sushi joint last night, Axis and Allies when they go out to eat with their s/o and come home violently sick?
I'm not laughing at you, just the scenerio! Can anyone say- Shady restaurants? Also- I'm sorry this took forever to get too!
TW: Mention of food sick symptoms!
Allies:
America:
He had rented a camper for him and his S/O to travel across a few states. This also means stopping at a relatively shady restaurant in the middle of a nowhere town. As soon as they walked in, the room went silent. America being American had zero cares about that. He wanted the biggest burger on the menu, and got whatever his prescious S/O wanted. By the time they got back to the camper something felt off. Both his and his S/O felt sick to their stomach. They went back to the restaurant to file a complaint, but the whole building was shut down due to poor conditions.
"Well... Now we definitely know why were both sick as a dog... Come on, I got some mints and tums to help digest..."
England:
His food wasn't always the best, but his S/O has been teaching him how to cook, and wanted to surprise them with his new found skills. He rented himself to a restaurant and made an excuse to his S/O that he had a business call. While his S/O waited for his return he sneakily cooked them their favorite meal. Little did he know the staff didn't tell him about some expired ingredients. His S/O was impressed... Until they got home.
They only found out the day after, and recovering with lots of ginger ale, that the staff was neglectful.
France:
He took them to his favorite restaurant, and it had the most amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. His S/O was spoiled with fancy foods, and a well made dessert. But something didn't sit right, and they fell ill. So he took them home early where he spent his time rubbing their back as the threw up what the had eaten. Along with the sweating France knew it was a minor case of food poisoning, or the very least something didn't agree with them.
He later found out the new Head Chef had held onto a sauce that wasn't supposed to be used after a few hours. The chef left it on the counter, and France had some choice words to say.
China:
He's the last person anyone should be giving him, or his Panda Bun bad food. Food is a bit of a sacred act of love, and culture. So when they came back from a sushi restaurant, he was livid. He took a small whiff of his Darling's leftovers and knew immediately the fish went bad.
Needless to say he went back after his S/O felt better. They got their money back, and then some.
Russia:
He was so happy the share some of his culture with his S/O. Even if they were use to his own food, it was still special to him. But seeing his Snowflake hurling up their food made him extremely upset. He didn't leave their side until they were fully recovered. They might have to beg him to not cause a scene, but in Russia, his idea of "conversation" was a normal. Especially when he was involved...
Axis:
Germany:
He was terrified they were having an allergic reaction at first. But then they started throwing up as soon as they got out of the car at home. Thankfully he didn't need to get their stomach pumped or anything, and treated them a little extra special. Back rubs, foot massages, cuddles, anything. He kept a bucket with them, and made them something to replace what nutrients they might have lost. Thankfully that stayed down, and even stopped them from being sick.
Italy:
He knew what to do since his own stomach is kind of sensitive. So yes, they were both taking turns running to the bathroom. He had all the essentials. Medicine, herbal teas, a heating pad for the tummies, and extra cuddle time! Even when he wasn't feeling himself, he did what he could to cheer up his lover as they became quick friends with the nearest trashcan.
Japan:
There's McDonald's in Japan, and they were desperate for food. His S/O had been kind enough to pay for them both, but soon regretted it as their stomach turned in the middle of the night. Japan felt them shift out of bed and run off. Naturally he decided to follow them, and only stopped at the doorway when he heard them vomiting in the toilet. His face darkened with second hand embarrassment as he offered them help. Now he remembers why he didn't go to McDonalds anymore...

☆⌒ hilltop — bang chan | fluff, boyfriend au | 1394 words | slight kissing
Tumblr media
“Hey, you mint-head!”
Chan stops in his path halfway through, turning around to squint through the lush green trees and bushes when he spots your ruined and debilitated form trying to catch up with her overly-active boyfriend. He chuckles when you hesitantly place a hand on a tall tree’s bark, crouching down on the moist, wet floor to catch your breath.
“I’m not as fit as you are, did you forget?” You heave out, shifting from one foot to the other because the trekking shoes Chan had given you were one-size-too-small, and now your feet felt like they were enclosed with molten-hot-lava. Yikes, not cool.
“Did you just call me mint-head?” Your boyfriend raises an eyebrow, sauntering towards you before taking a seat on the random wooden bench that’s littered here and there on the pat to the top of the hill.
“Well,” You take a deep breath, uncapping the water bottle — thank god you’d brought one — before taking a nice gulp of the liquid. It feels cool and refreshing when it runs down your throat. Once you cap the bottle back, you speak again. “You deserve it, for dragging my ass to this —” A clapping sound echoes throughout the space and you separate your hands, pushing off the dead mosquito on your hand. “— wild forest, even though I told you we could’ve just taken the photos on the apartment’s terrace.”
“Oh come on,” Chan laughs heartily, slinging an arm over your shoulder before dabbing his handkerchief over your sweaty forehead. “It’s just a fucking hill, stop being such a drama llama. It’s literally just a straight walk up.”
“But we’ve been walking for hours!”
“Actually, we’ve only been walking for five minutes.”
“Sorry, you’re the one who literally carried me against my will from my comfortable bed and into this weird ass place, and all for dumb —” you swat at another mosquito. “Photos. Yeah, I think I have to right to be mad.”
“Hey, now let’s not get too angry there.” Chan runs his hand through his mint green hair. “The view from the top is magnificent, just give it a chance, babe. You do remember what I promised you once we’ve successfully reached the top, right?”
You scowl and then that gradually morphs into a pout as you shove your water bottle back into your backpack, slinging it over your shoulder. “It doesn’t even seem worthy anymore — all this climbing for one kiss?”
“Oh please,” Chan smirks, crossing his arms against his chest. “You’ve always told me I’m a good kisser, so you can’t tell me that you aren’t the slightest bit excited for this.”
“Yeesh, stop being so cocky—” A slap at his chest and you get up, ignoring the fiery feeling in the apples of your cheeks as you walk further up the hill. “You better catch up or no kiss for you!”
“Hey that was my deal!”
Tumblr media
Once you and Chan both reach the top of the hill — albeit with a lot of groaning and complaining — the first thing you do is kick off your damn shoes and revel in the feeling of the cold grass under your feet, and finally, finally, some circulation to let your feet breathe! You feel as free as a bird, as calm as a swan in a lake —
“Why are you standing over there like you’re in the Titanic movie?” Chan asks, biting his lip to muffle out his giggles while you scowl at him once again.
“Because someone —” You smile, pointing at your boyfriend who’s trying hilariously hard to not laugh at how silly you look right now. “Decided to bring me here when I was totally—”
“Oh shut it, don’t start again.” Honestly, Chan isn’t even offended over how dramatic you’re being. You’re overly loud, chaotic, and look at the fun sides in life (expect for now, surprisingly) and Chan is calm, patient and more diplomatic in his approach. You two are opposites, but that’s what attracts both of you.
Plus, he finds it absolutely adorable, and all he wants to do is throw his camera away and cradle you into his arms and shower you in praise. Your dorkiness only brings out his affectionate side more — and Chan’s an affectionate person already.
“Ugh, fineeee...” You whine. “What am I supposed to do now?”
“Okay, so — stand there.” He points to the railing that surrounds the hill and you nod, moving to take your position. The cold grass and the air feels oddly nice, so you feel energetic. Maybe this photoshoot will go well after all.
The next two hours is spent with you and Chan taking pictures of each other, the scenery, and you also throw in a couple photos of Chan stuffing his cheeks with the sushi you’d picked up on the way — those were private and confidential though, because your boyfriend looked so cute when his cheeks were filled with food, and you were selfish and wanted all that serotonin for yourself.
Honestly Chan doesn’t even care about the photos — neither do you, but you’ve made it clear since the beginning — he just wants to spend quality time with his girlfriend, and college’s been an absolute pain in the ass — he misses going on silly yet nice dates with you.
Even Chan manages to catch a few portrait photos of you when you aren’t looking, and for all intents and purposes he will be keeping it to himself — because your beauty deserves to be admired, and just like you, Chan is selfish to share it.
Seems like you both fit together perfectly.
When the photoshoot is done, you decide to separate from the cameras a bit and gaze at the sun that’s going down bit by but, bestowing it’s existence with a magnificent view. The sky is tinted the slightest orange, mixed with a hint of pink and blue, and the scenery itself is picture-worthy.
“So...” You say, having calmed down from your burst of energy from before. “Today was nice.”
“What —” Chan says with sarcastic intent, gasping and clutching at his heart like he’s in grave shock. Now he’s the one who’s being dramatic. “— Didn’t you say it wasn’t worth my kiss?”
“Shut up.” You roll your eyes playfully, quirking your brow before gazing off into the afternoon-evening sky.
“Pfft, I’ll shut up after we finish the one more picture we have to take.”
“What picture, didn’t we have all of them already?”
“Nope, stand here.”
Chan runs to fix his tripod stand a few feet away from where you’re standing, setting the timer before rushing back to his place.
“This one’s special, so please get rid of the grouchy face.” You frown, but nonetheless smile at his excitement.
“Okay so, close your eyes.”
A raised eyebrow is thrown in his direction, but you still comply, extremely curious to know what your boyfriend was up to.
“I swear to god, if you pull that thing you did to me last time when you put a bug in my hand I will —” Hey, you were just being proactive! The bug incident had freaked the fuck out of you, so much that you didn’t go near Chan for a whole two days until he’d apologized and bought you McDonalds.
But oh god, what you felt was so, so much better than that prank.
Soft lips press against your own and efficiently shut you up, leave be for the muffled nose that rolls off your tongue in surprise. His lips move with synchrony, and you barely notice the camera flash behind you when Chan cups your cheeks and you wrap your hands around his waist, delving deeper and deeper and deeper until you ran out of breath. Not that you didn’t feel breathless when Chan got like this, and you loved every bit of it.
When you pull away, you gasp for air, panting as you rest your forehead against Chan’s.
“So,” He says, rubbing his thumb against your cheek and kissing the tip of your nose. “Was it worth it?” He cocks an eyebrow, and you giggly softly, pulling him into a hug.
“You know it always will be.”
And the framed picture of you and Chan kissing under the medium-orange toned sunset looks ever-the-pretty on your room’s wall.

Wolfstar Au: Questions and Confessions (pt 3 of Parties and Morning Regrets)
tw: panic attack
pt 2
pt4
read it on ao3
obligatory tag for @icitlali as you’re pretty much the main reason this fic turned into a series, i hope you enjoy it!
When Remus woke up again, hours later, he noticed three things. 1) there was a blanket over him, 2) Lily was home, he could hear her singing along to music in the kitchen and 3) Sirius was nowhere to be seen.
Just as well, Remus thought as he got up. He felt and heard all of his joints clicking and cracking while he stretched. He wrapped the blanket tightly around himself and waddled into the kitchen.
“Hi” He whispered, despite not having to.
Lily spun around, catching him in a hug. “Feeling better?” she asked, pressing her face against his chest.
“Yeah, sleep is good” Remus nodded as they let go, and Lily went back to cooking.
“I’m making dinner, you were asleep for ages”
“Figured, I’m starved”
“I slept with James”
“James?” The name vaguely rang a bell in Remus’ head but it’s not like he knew a lot of people called James.
“Potter- James Potter, remember?” Lily chewed her bottom lip, “from school?”
“Oh”
James Potter had been best friends with Sirius Black and that was probably the only way Remus knew him. There was also the fact that he had chased after Lily for most of their school days. Most people thought he was a rich, spoiled and arrogant boy but Remus found he never really saw him like that. From their limited interactions, Remus thought James was actually a quite pleasant person, a little big-headed but all round a good bloke.
“Yeah”
“And?” Remus waved his hands around, nearly letting the blanket fall to his feet.
“And… we may have exchanged numbers”
“Lily!”
“What?!”
“You always said you hated him!”
“Well I did… but, he got really fit” Lily admitted, pink dusting her cheeks.
“Fit? you slept with him cause he got fit?”
“Kind of- I mean, we talked at the party and he told me about his work and Remus, he’s a human rights lawyer”
This was an interesting piece of information. Remus didn’t know that James was also a lawyer but he did remember Sirius mentioning something about him the night of the party. Did this mean that maybe Remus was wrong? Maybe Sirius wasn’t working for his father anymore and he was in New York to team up with James. It was unlikely though since he specifically remembered his brain latching onto Sirius saying something along the lines of him doing business for his father. There was always the possibility of Sirius lying. However, Remus felt that was unlikely too. Sirius wasn’t much of a liar unless he had to.
He must’ve been quiet for too long because Lily nudged him gently. “Hey, you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah” Remus nodded, “just thinking”
“Bad thinking or good thinking”
Remus shrugged. “Just… thinking”
“Does it have anything to do with you definitely sleeping with your gorgeous ex-boyfriend the other night?”
Remus’ face reddened and he pulled the blanket tighter around himself as if it could shield him from all his problems and worries.
“Ha! I knew it” Lily was practically jumping up and down. “He left his phone number”
Remus groaned. “Throw it away”
“What?”
“Bin it, burn it, I don’t care”
“Remus, you can’t just cut off anyone who makes you feel things” Lily sighed.
“I don’t do that” Lie. He did it all the time.
“Yes you do… remember when you dated Anna? or Frank? or Sam?”
Remus shrugged and made a vague noise. He didn’t like where this was going but Lily carried on.
“You pushed them away as soon as it got too real, as soon as it got serious”
“Well, I just didn’t want to settle down with them”
“And why’s that, my friend?”
“I don’t know… they weren’t right” Remus shrugged again, “who are you? my therapist?”
“I’m your friend, idiot” Lily lightly hit his arm, smiling despite fully reading Remus like today’s paper. “I just think we both know it’s because they weren’t Sirius”
Remus had nothing to say to that. “Just… bin the number, I don’t want to talk to him”
Lily sighed, exasperated. “You don’t have to talk to him but I’m not throwing out his number, just in case”
“I’m not going to call him” He replied, leaning his chin on her shoulder.
“I know, you’re too set on making yourself miserable”
“That’s not true”
“Oh sure”
“I don’t even like him”
“I saw the way he looked at you, clearly he still cares a lot about you and…” she paused, kissing Remus’ forehead before reaching for two plates. “you do too or else you wouldn’t have invited him up earlier”
“I just didn’t want to leave him out in the cold” That’s all there was to it, Remus had told himself earlier. He was tired and leaving Sirius outside, alone in the cold, in a city he probably wasn’t familiar with just seemed like the wrong thing to do.
“Sounds like caring to me” Lily replied in a sing-songy voice.
Remus resorted to sticking his tongue out instead of formulating a response.
Lily passed him a plate filled with pasta and the two brought their food to the sitting room. “Who’s manning the bakery?” Remus asked, suddenly realising that neither one of them had gone to work.
“Marlene and Dorcas, I went in to check when I was picking up Mrs Pettigrew’s shopping” Lily paused for a forkful of pasta before continuing. “She was asking about you”
“Why me?”
“Dunno, she likes you”
Remus raised his eyebrow, changing the channel and ending up on an episode of Doctor Who.
“Yeah, I don’t know why but she said you should drop by soon” Lily added.
“Mmm, I might later”
The two finished their dinner in a comfortable silence, occasionally commenting on what the current Doctor was getting up to. After dinner, Lily showered and Remus finally got the chance to take that bath he had wanted nearly all day. He bid Lily an early goodnight afterwards, seeing as he was up for the morning shift the next day.
Remus didn’t mind working at the bakery, it meant he never had to walk far to get to work or to get home. He wasn’t passionate about it like Lily was though which meant for him, waking up at the arse crack of dawn wasn’t worth it. Still, he got up, feeling a billion times better than the day before, and got dressed. It was 4am when he got there and the only other person with him was Mary McDonald.
Mary was a good friend of Lily’s and just as passionate about making the best baked goods as she was. Their entire staff consisted of five people, usually there were two people there from 4 am up until 4 pm (despite it opening hours being 8am to 3 pm). During busier hours, another person came in from 11 am to 2 pm. It was a small business but it was open every day and sold everything from custom order cakes to bread, rolls and just nearly every other baked good under the sun. Lily was a fair boss and no one had to be in work for 4 am two days in a row since the bakery was so small, they didn’t need more than three people there at the one time. Usually they got by with just the two.
“Morning” Mary rubbed her eyes, turning on the radio when Remus walked in.
“ ‘Ello” He saluted, getting ready to sanitise the kitchen and get the dough prepared for all the baked goods they would be selling that day.
Remus liked working with Mary. She was quiet enough and most of the time the two got to enjoy listening to the radio, singing along to songs or commenting on the news as they worked. He hadn’t even thought about Sirius since the night before and all was going great.
That was until the clock hit 2:15. That was when Remus was working the till and that was when Sirius waltzed into the small establishment. Remus knew it wasn’t a coincidence because Lily’s bakery was small and very very local. There was no way Sirius had just so happened to wander in off the street.
To Remus’ dismay, after Sirius bought an eclair and a cup of coffee, he didn’t leave. Sirius didn’t leave even when he had finished, instead stuck around and ordered another coffee. Who drinks so much coffee, thought Remus, feeling more and more annoyed the more time Sirius spent not leaving. Eventually, it was time for Remus’ break and Mary took over the till.
Remus went out the back, into the alleyway for a cig and a yogurt. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to enjoy much of his lunch break by himself because after he had eaten, and lit the cigarette, someone he didn’t want to see appeared in his line of vision.
“You haven’t called”
Straight to the point then, Remus thought, taking an extra long drag of the cig. “No”
“Why not?” Sirius shoved his hands in his pockets, shifting his weight between his two feet.
“Why is it that you always get to be the one asking questions and pointing out how much I’ve changed?” Remus countered, putting the cigarette out on the ashy tray on the windowsill.
Sirius didn’t say anything so Remus straightened and took a step forward with his hands tucked under his arms, to keep the cold off. The fingerless gloves weren’t much help. “How come you’re New York? Why are you still working for your father’s bloody firm? And why are you so quiet and subdued?”
While all of this was spilling out of Remus, he suddenly found himself right up in Sirius’ face with his breath ghosting his lips. Sirius didn’t back down though as steel grey met blazing amber.
“You never asked” He replied simply.
“Because you never gave me the chance to!” Remus took a step back and one forward again. “I did now so… go on, out with it”
“My father recently branched out to America, New York to be specific and I…. I wanted- no, I needed to get away” Sirius spat out. “I needed to get away from my parents because I had enough of them and everything they stood for and… and I finally stopped being so afraid of them!”
“So why did you go after me then?”
“I didn’t go after you”
“You talked to me at the party and then you showed up at my workplace” Remus reasoned, “I’m so sorry that I misread the fucking signs!”
“You’re the one that invited me up to the flat!”
“Yes, because it was cold out and I didn’t want to be that guy who left someone in a new city out in the freezing fucking cold”
“Really? because you didn’t have a problem making jabs at me and being a cruel bastard”
“Oh I’m the bastard, sure”
“That’s not fair and you know it!”
“Well life isn’t fair either and you don’t get to decide what’s fair and what’s not, so how about you fuck off Sirius”
“No” came Sirius’ sharp reply.
“I beg your pardon?”
“I said no” Sirius’ voice was shaking and Remus hated himself for wanting to comfort him. “No because I’m still in love with you even though you clearly don’t want me to be because you’re acting like a condescending asshole 90% of the time and the other 10 you remind me of the guy I fell for in Year 7”
Remus felt winded. Year 7?? “You- you can’t just drop that on me….” He trailed off, staggering backwards. “I need get back to work”
He turned on his heel and ran a hand through his hair. Sirius said something, shouted Remus’ name maybe but his voice sounded distant and fogged. Somehow he stumbled back into the bakery to see Mary look at him with worried eyes.
“Remus?”
Her voice was distant too and the room was too warm. His lungs wouldn’t fill properly and his head spun. He felt like he was going to pass out and he would’ve literally hit the ground if Mary hadn’t caught him.
She put him in a chair against the wall and grabbed a bottle of water, fusing over him and saying things Remus wasn’t hearing because the sound of his heart racing was far too loud. Yep, this is how I die, he thought, leaning back in the chair and letting his head hit the wall.
Suddenly Mary appeared in front of him again, he could only tell by the hands on his shoulders as his eyes were closed. “Remus? Remus, deep breaths love” when Remus was unresponsive she tried again. “Remus breathe in, 1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. and hold the breath 2... 3.. 4.. 5.. 6.. 7.. and out again, 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8…”
This time Remus followed Mary’s lead. They did the breathing exercise a couple more times before Remus felt stable enough to open his eyes again. “What happened?”
“Listen I-“ Remus cut himself off because what did happen. “Thank you, I don’t really- can we not talk about it?”
Mary was kind, there was no denying that. She nodded, despite looking concerned. “Of course, yeah, whatever makes you comfortable”
Mary insisted that Remus stay in the back for the rest of the day and he was happy enough not having to man the till. Sirius had completely disappeared and Remus was too tired to do anything about it. At 3pm, Mary locked up and they set about preparing ingredients and products for the next day, freezing selected stock and cleaning the kitchen.
By the time they had finished Mary was still concerned. “Hey, are you alright now?”
“Mmm, yeah, I’m good” Remus would’ve preferred to face Sirius again and risk another panic attack rather than have to talk to Mary about what happened earlier.
Mary gave him a tight smile and put a hand on his arm. “Mind yourself, yeah?” she gave his arm a light squeeze before the two went their separate ways.

summary: Catalina starts college in a small town all the way across the country. She doesn’t know anyone and isn’t exactly looking for friends. She just wants to focus on dance. But when she meets fellow dance major, Jimin, and adventurous, fellow freshman, Jungkook, Catalina ends up discovering a whole new side to the small college town; one that is dangerous but oh so enticing…
The warm weather was fleeting; Catalina spent her days studying, working, and every chance she got, hanging out with her friends. The “baseball encounter”, as she’s been calling it, has been living in the back of her mind ever since, even though it seemed her friends had forgotten about it. She never brought it up, just focusing on her college life. Namjoon took her out to fancy bookstores and coffee shops, Jungkook tried and failed to teach her how to skateboard, and Jin tried and failed to help them in French. She was kept busy and she was having fun.
All was peaceful, until a college student was reported missing in St. Briggs. Jimin cornered Catalina in dance class about it one chilly, early winter day.
They were practicing their dance to “Body”, by Megan Thee Stallion.
“One, two, three, turn, five, six, step and hit,” the teacher called out. “One, two, ba, ba, jump, Steve! What song are you dancing to, ‘cause it’s not this! Find the goddamn beat! Alright, everyone except Steve, take five.”
Catalina’s final move in the dance was on the ground, so instead of getting up, she crawled over to her dance bag and pulled out her water bottle, collapsing against the wall. Jimin joined her and said, “Have you heard the news?”
Catalina shook her head between sips.
“A student went missing,” he said. “In St. Briggs. From our college.”
“Aren’t they the second person to go missing here?” Catalina asked. “I don’t like the sound of that.”
“Yeah, me neither,” said Jimin. “The first person was a little kid. My parents are freaking out about me walking to campus now.”
“And the police have no idea who the guy is?” asked Catalina. “I mean, they don’t know anything?”
“Not really,” said Jimin. “It’s like these people disappeared without a trace.”
“Hm,” Catalina thought about the disappearances and the mysterious “baseball encounter”. She wondered if they were connected. “You wanna do some investigating?”
“What are you-no, we’re not visiting those vampires,” said Jimin. “That’s a really bad idea. Namjoon told us to stay out of it and he definitely knows more about this stuff than we do.”
Catalina knew she wouldn’t get anywhere with Jimin. She would just have to wait until she saw Jungkook to bring it up again. She knew he’d have no qualms about going on a potentially life-threatening mission.
Her chance came that weekend when she and Jungkook worked their shift together at the souvenir shop. Business was starting to pick up since the first snow was expected to arrive any day now.
Tourists started stopping by more and more and Catalina got to see what Jungkook meant by “hot tourists”. The men and the women were beautiful, and her and Jungkook both had fun checking them out from behind the counter. But today was slow, so Catalina figured she’d take the opportunity to tell him about her plan.
“Jungkook, what do you think about stealing that business card and sneaking around a potential lair?” asked Catalina.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, but yes. I’m in,” he said. The two of them were straightening the ceramic bear and eagle figurines, killing time between customers.
“Remember those three vampires on baseball day?”
               “Uh-huh.”
“The guy gave Namjoon a business card,” said Catalina.
“Oh right! Yeah, I remember,” said Jungkook.
“I was thinking maybe we could steal it and do our own investigating. I mean, what if those guys have something to do with the missing people?” Catalina said. Jungkook looked up at her with wide eyes.
“Oh shit! Ya know, you’re probably right!” he said. “They just moved here, and then all of a sudden, a kid goes missing in this town. It makes sense.”
               “Exactly,” said Catalina.
“But how will we get the business card?” asked Jungkook. “Do we sneak into his room or his office or whatever?”
“That’s what I was thinking. One of us distracts him, while the other sneaks in and finds it,” said Catalina.
“I feel like you should distract him. A classic honey pot mission,” said Jungkook.
“Do you know what that means?” Catalina asked, snickering.
“Don’t you seduce someone to complete a mission?” asked Jungkook.
“You usually have to fuck someone in a honey pot mission,” said Catalina.
“Oh, well, how bad can it be? I mean, he’s hot as fuck,” he said with a wave of his hand. Catalina’s face turned bright red.
“I’m not- we’re…” she sighed. “Jungkook, casual sex isn’t really my thing and I don’t like him that way. I don’t think he likes me that way either.”
“Are you kidding? What about all those bookstores and coffee shops? Those weren’t dates?” asked Jungkook. “What were you guys doing?”
“Looking at books!” said Catalina. “He just really likes literature, and I really like coffee.”
“Did he pay for your coffee every time?”
               “Yes.”
“Then that’s a date,” said Jungkook.
“We spot each other all the time. So, are you telling me it’s a date when you pay for my McDonalds or when I pay for your movie ticket?” asked Catalina.
“That’s different,” said Jungkook. Catalina threw her hands up.
“Okay, we’re getting off topic,” she said. “You distract him, I’ll get the card.”
“Casual sex also isn’t my thing though,” said Jungkook.
Catalina threw her head back laughing. “You don’t have to fuck him! Just keep him downstairs talking or something.”
“I can do that. Are we doing it tonight?” asked Jungkook.
               “Sure.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
               That evening, Catalina and Jungkook went to the mansion. Jungkook brought his French homework. Luckily, Namjoon was the one to answer the door.
               “Oh, hey guys! Come on in,” he said. He led them to the lounge and Jungkook immediately got his homework out.
               “I was wondering if you could help me with this,” said Jungkook.
               “Sure, let’s see,” said Namjoon. Catalina wandered off. The upstairs was thankfully not as big as the main floor, but there were many halls and many rooms. Catalina went to Hoseok’s room, starting her search from there. The next door in the hallway was open. Catalina looked inside, flicking on the light switch. It looked like a basic, model bedroom. It didn’t look like it belonged to anyone, probably a guest room. The next room was enormous and absolutely trashed. The giant bed in the middle of the room had a mountain of blankets and clothes on it. Clothes, loose papers, and books littered the floor. Beat up, crooked antique paintings decorated the walls, along with torn calligraphy banners. The Asian style furniture looked ancient, worn and battered, but luxuriously wealthy.
               Catalina moved on to the next room. This one was a bit more modern and, curiously, vaguely nautical themed. A huge window against the back wall let light shine in on the white painted wood of the furniture, the mess of easels and canvases in the corner, and the mix of paintings on the seashell wallpapered walls: realism, abstract, cubism, a few charcoal sketches of Hoseok, Yoongi, and Namjoon, and a single painting of a lighthouse looking out at a stormy sea. Catalina went to the next room.
               This one was the most modern, with dark walls and mahogany furniture. It was sleek and rustic, with a twisted wood bed frame, alpaca rugs on the ground, smooth couches in the corner with a driftwood coffee table in the center, and along every free wall, bookshelves. The entire room was spotless. This must be Namjoon’s room. At least, Catalina hoped it was. She stepped inside and went to the desk tucked into one of the bookshelves. She rifled through the drawers until she found one filled with business cards.
               “Shit,” she whispered. There were quite a few cards, but she got to work sorting through them. Most of them looked old and yellowed with age. She automatically set those ones aside. She couldn’t remember that vampire’s name, but she knew she’d remember it if she saw it. After sorting through what felt like hundreds of cards, she finally found one with the familiar name on it.
               It was a new card, simple, with just a name, an address, and a phone number on it. The name on it was Makai La’ei. That sounded right. Catalina rearranged the rest of the cards back to how she found them and shoved this one in her pocket. She was definitely running out of time, Jungkook only had so much homework.
               When she got downstairs, she went right to the lounge, but it was empty. Jungkook’s French textbook was laying open on the coffee table. Her heart skipped a beat. Namjoon wouldn’t hurt him, would he? She thought. She backed out of the lounge and looked up and down the hallway. Her heart was pounding, but before her thoughts could fully run away on her, she heard Jungkook’s voice approaching, saying, “And that’s how I went to senior prom with Dr. Dre’s daughter, Truly.”
Namjoon and Jungkook rounded the corner, both holding McDonalds bags and hot coffees in their hands.
“You guys went out?” Catalina asked.
               “Yeah, we got hash browns,” said Namjoon, handing one of the bags to her.
               “Isn’t this yours?” asked Catalina.
               “Grease gives me a stomachache,” he said.
               “I was just craving hash browns. I figured you’d want a few too,” said Jungkook. Catalina’s heart skipped a beat, but this time not out of fear.
               “I love these,” she whispered, opening the greasy paper bag to see three hash browns inside. Something nudged her hand. She looked up to see Jungkook handing her his coffee as well. Namjoon wandered off, sipping at his own coffee. “What are you doing?”
               “I don’t like coffee,” he said. “Take it.”
               “Thank you,” she said. “Did you already finish your homework?”
               “Yeah, turns out Namjoon is fluent in French,” said Jungkook. “And Korean, and Chinese, and Japanese, and German. And…what was that other one?”
               “Swahili,” Namjoon said from inside the lounge.
               “Why?” asked Catalina.
               “I was bored,” he said with a shrug. Jungkook looked at Catalina with questioning eyes. Catalina nodded.
               “Well, thank you for helping me with this,” said Jungkook, gathering his textbook and notes. “I hate this class, so any help is much appreciated. Anyway, we have to get going. We have some errands to run.”
               “Sure, no problem,” said Namjoon as he walked them to the door. “We’re all fluent in French here, expect for Hoseok, so feel free to ask any of us any time.”
               “Thank you,” Catalina said as she pulled her shoes on.
~~~~~~~~~~
“That was too easy,” said Jungkook as they were getting into his car.
“Not really!” said Catalina. “He had a whole drawer full of business cards. I had to sort through all of them.”
“I was talking about the homework,” said Jungkook. He pulled out of the driveway and began the drive down the mountain. “He gave me all the answers. But that explains why you were gone for so long.”
“Yeah, and I saw the other rooms,” said Catalina. “I think Tae’s room is nautical themed.”
“Why?” Jungkook asked. Catalina shrugged. “Well, whatever. Does that card have an address on it?”
“Yeah,” Catalina pulled the card out of her pocket and typed the address into her maps app. It gave her a route to a location in the middle of the town. She let Siri lead them as she plugged in her phone and looked up spy music on iTunes. She found a playlist and put it on shuffle, letting the groovy guitar of “Secret Agent Man” blast through the car.
By the time they arrived, they were well into “Hawaii Five-O”. The GPS had led them to what looked like an abandoned hospital. Jungkook drove a block past it so they could walk the rest of the way. As they walked, they reviewed the plan.
“So, we can’t get caught, obviously,” said Jungkook. “We’re just sneaking in, taking a quick look, maybe some pictures, then getting out.”
“Right,” said Catalina. “Quick and fast.”
They snuck in and found a basement stairwell, which they took. The rest of the hospital was empty. They could hear voices coming from the basement, so as quietly as they could, they snuck down the stairs, which led them to a cement tunnel with a metal grated floor. The tunnel gave Catalina a sense of Déjà vu, but she couldn’t figure out why. Faint voices echoed from the end of the tunnel. They reached the end and peaked around the corner. What they saw made their jaws drop. A huge, cavernous cement room with some furniture in the middle. Doors lined the walls, some open, some closed. Catalina could see from where she was that there were people in the rooms with open doors. People sitting or laying on the ground, tubes attached to their arms connecting to IV stands, blood bags hanging from the hooks.
Jungkook was snapping rapid fire pictures of as much of the room as they could see.
The voices, which were coming from a part of the room they couldn’t see, stopped talking.
“Bernard, go check the tunnel and stairs. I thought I heard something.”
Before Bernard even had a chance to move, Catalina and Jungkook booked it back down the tunnel and up the stairs. Jungkook led the way, and he was fast, so Catalina struggled to keep up with him. Once they were at the top of the stairs, they looked around for an open room. A bit down the hall, there was an open doorframe with a missing door. They darted for it, Jungkook pulling her inside and crowding her against the wall, hidden in the shadows.
Catalina was scared they’d be caught, but now she freaking out about something entirely different, namely, Jungkook’s chest and arms caging her against the wall. He was so close that Catalina could feel the heat coming off him. Her blush made its way down her neck into her chest, her breath quickening.
“He’s coming,” Jungkook whispered, his wide eyes glued to the doorway. Sure enough, Catalina could hear heavy boots crunching through the debris in the hallway, getting closer to where they were. “Do you trust me?”
“What?” Catalina asked.
“Do you trust me?” Jungkook asked again. “I saw this in a TV show. It works every time.”
Before Catalina could ask for clarification, several things happened at once: the man, presumably Bernard, began entering the room, Jungkook pressed even closer, a hand on her waist, the other finding its way to her hair, and his lips crashed against hers. She let out a squeak of surprise but quickly caught on, gripping his shirt and leaning into the kiss.
“Oh, for crying out loud,” a man’s voice said from the doorway. They broke apart and looked at him. “This is private property, guys. Get lost.”
“Sorry,” Jungkook said, flashing a sheepish smile. Bernard stepped aside to let them past, waving them in the direction of the exit. Even though her heart was still pounding out of her chest and her head was still spinning, Catalina made a point to check Bernard’s eyes. They were red.
On their way out, they heard the crackle of a walkie talkie and Bernard saying, “It was just some kids making out upstairs. This happens way too often, boss. We gotta start putting signs up or something.”
On their way to the car, Jungkook said, “That was a close one.”
“Was that just an excuse to kiss me?” Catalina joked, not sure she wanted to know the answer.
“It worked, didn’t it?” Jungkook said with a wink. Catalina blushed and shoved him.
“Shut up,” she said.

My Heart Has a History (1)
Tumblr media
Sleeping was starting to become impossible.
I tossed and turn all night, having to get up 20 times or more to use the bathroom. It was starting to get so bad that Matthew opted to start sleeping in the guest room just to get some sleep himself. The only bad thing about it was that I would be up all night and by 5:30 in the morning, I would finally pass out for a few hours and be late for whatever it was I had to do that day.
Case in point, dropping my son off to his father.
I had been up all night, tossing and turning, I don’t even remember falling asleep. The only reason I finally woke up was because my cell phone started to vibrate against the table. I lazily reached my arm over to the table and unhooked it from the charger.
"Lo?" I answered.
I had no idea who was calling since I didn't bother to look at the screen. "It's about time you answered." Jax's voice sounded through the speaker. "I've been texting you for the past hour." I slowly began to wake up and looked over to the alarm to see that it was almost ten in the morning. I started to slightly panic since I had to be at the bakery in 45 minutes. "Why didn't anyone wake me up?" I slightly yelled. I could hear Jax laugh on the other end as I tried my best to get out of bed. Getting out of bed while pregnant hadn’t gotten any easier as my second pregnancy moved further along. When I was pregnant with Wyatt, Jax had to help me up all the time. The first couple months were fine but it got harder and harder each month.
"Like I said, I tried texting you but your phone must've been on silent or something." I ran my fingers through my hair as I finally reached the side of the bed. "I was playing a game last night since I couldn't sleep and I put it on silent so I wouldn't wake up Matthew. I guess I just forgot to put the ringer back on." I explained myself. Jax stayed silent as I struggled to get off the bed. "I have to stop by the bank real quick and then I’ll be able to drop him off. You can meet me at the bank if you want?" I suggested. Usually, I would drop Wyatt off at the garage or Jax's house. It just depended on how early in the morning it was going to be. "Yeah, that'll work." I let out a sigh of relief once he agreed. "Gemma's having dinner tonight; why don't you stop by when you pick up Wyatt?" I stayed silent for a moment before answering him, "I'll have to see." Dinner at Gemma's either went two ways: okay or terrible. Every dinner that I’ve attended at the Morrow house was filled with screaming and accusations. It was either between Clay and Jax or Gemma and Jax. That family had no idea how to have a decent dinner. The last time I had dinner with everyone was the night Jax and I decided to call it quits. We didn't plan on telling anyone of our plans but our body language said it all. We were cold towards one another and the most telling part was that we decided not to sit next to each other. Gemma was the first to point this out and basically turned the whole evening into a hell storm. I had to end up leaving early because I couldn't take it. "Okay, well I guess I’ll see you when you get here." And with that, he hung up.
I couldn't help but feel a bit sad about telling him that I was more than likely not going to attend Gemma's dinner. Jax and I weren't together anymore; what would be the use of going? I was all for Wyatt staying and having dinner with them but I feel like I would just be an unwanted guest. Plus, Gemma wasn't my biggest fan. "Mommy?" Wyatt's little voice sounded as he walked into the room. He was already dressed and ready to go. "Mommy, when are we going to daddy's?" I watched as he walked into the room and jumped on the bed. He looked just like his father. Blonde hair, green eyes, and that smile was contagious. He was the spitting image of Jackson Teller. "Real soon, baby." I gave him a smile as I wrapped my arms around him. "Did you get dressed all by yourself?" I looked down at him as he nodded his head. "I wanted to look like daddy." I just nodded my head as I looked at his attire. A plain white shirt, jeans, and his little work boots. I wouldn't personally put him in this type of outfit but I give him points for dressing himself for the day. Plus, he was going to be in a garage where he was bound to get messy. "How about you go and watch TV while I get ready and then we'll go see daddy? Does that sound like a plan?" He just nodded his little head, pressing a kiss to my cheek before jumping off the bed. I waited until I heard the TV turn on before I waddled towards the bathroom. I had told Jax that I would be there as soon as I could but I had to get ready for the day and there was no way I was going into the bakery without looking my best. If I could get Wyatt to him in under an hour, then that would be an accomplishment… I looked at the clock as I frantically moved around the kitchen. It was already after 11 and I had told Jax that I was on my way 20 minutes ago. "Mommy, I couldn't find them in the living room." Wyatt ran up to where I was. "I even looked in Nettie's house." I continued to claw my way through different boxes that I knew my keys wouldn't be in but I was desperate to find them. The last time I saw them was last night when I contemplated if I wanted to make a McDonald's run since I was practically starving. I must have stared at the damn things for almost an hour before I decided to go back to bed. The only thing was that I couldn’t remember where I put them after I decided not to go. I decided to just forgo the search and take Matthew’s car instead. Luckily, a friend of his picked him up this morning, leaving the BMW sitting in the driveway. I watched as Wyatt gathered up his little backpack, making sure to put his jean jacket on first since it was a bit cool out. We were out the door and on the road within 5 minutes. I knew that Jax was probably pissed since I had told him that I was on my way almost 30 minutes ago. I'm surprised he didn't send one of the guys to come look for me. It wouldn't be the first time.
The often 25-minute drive turned into a 15 minute one as I pulled into the parking lot to find Jax's truck sitting near the entrance. I had told him numerous times that I didn't like Wyatt riding on the back of his motorcycle and I’m glad he finally decided to listen. When I was with Jax, I didn't even like riding on the back of that thing. It scared me to no end and seeing as Wyatt’s still young, I didn't feel comfortable with him riding either.
"Daddy!" Wyatt cheered from the backseat. As soon as I put the car in park, he was out and bolting towards the truck. I watched as Jax removed his sunglasses before exiting the truck and wrapping Wyatt in his arms. "Hey bud." Jax whispered in his hair as he held onto him. Instead of just waiting around for him to start yelling at me for being late, I decided to speak first. "So, I packed his lunch since Gemma lets him eat anything he wants and I made sure to put an extra outfit in there as well in case he gets dirty or something. I also don't want you smoking near him or using words that aren't friendly to anyone's ears." I rambled. "It might be late before I can come get him but please have him in his pajamas when I come and pick him up." Jax just rolled his eyes as I gave him the same instructions that I’ve told him for the past year. I was only being the good mom that everyone praised me for being. To me, being a good mother was something that I prided myself for. I wanted to be able to give my son and future daughter the love and care that my mother gave me. I didn't come from a broken family. My parents had been together since high school and I hardly ever heard them argue. If they did in fact argue, they must have been awfully quiet about it. I was supposed to follow in their footsteps but that changed when I met Jax. My parents tried to remain calm and optimistic about mine and Jax's relationship but I could see the disappointment in their eyes. I was supposed to marry someone like Matthew and remain married to that man for the rest of my life. I guess you could say they were overjoyed and embarrassed at the same time when I decided to leave Jax. It was what they had been hoping for but that left me a single mother and that wasn't supposed to happen either. "You act like I’ve never taken care of a kid before, Pres." Jax chuckled as he readjusted Wyatt in his arms. "I know the whole routine babe." My heart fluttered a tad at the mention of that pet name.    "Gemma's gonna take him home with her when she leaves for the day. I have a few things to take care of before the dinner tonight but I should be back before you get there." I shifted slightly at the mention of Gemma's dinner. I knew he wanted an answer but I didn't want to tell him no in front of Wyatt. "Have you decided if you're coming or not?"
I narrowed my eyes at him. "I told you that I would have to see." He just looked at me with those green eyes as a smirk played on his face. "Well you can tell that to Gemma today when she stops by to get the deserts." My face instantly fell. Gemma never came to my shop unless she wanted to be nosey. "Excuse me?" I tried to keep a small smile on my face in front of Wyatt. "I didn't get an order from Gemma for today?" Jax just shrugged his shoulders. "Mommy makes good desert." Wyatt decided to announce. Jax and I both laughed at his statement. "Thank you baby." I said as I gave him a kiss on the cheek. I was extremely close to Jax at that point since he was holding Wyatt. I think at one point, my stomach accidentally hit against his side. I quickly backed up as Jax just stared at me and then to the ground. "Well-" I began. "I think it's time I get to work." I brushed the hair out of my face. "Seems that I will have some needy customers today after all." "Wyatt-" Jax spoke as he set our son back on the ground. "Give mommy a kiss goodbye." I looked up at Jax briefly but my attention quickly snapped back to the toddler that brushed up against my legs. "Bye, mommy." I bent down the best I could and wrapped my arms around his little body. "Bye, baby. You be good for daddy and grandma, okay?" He just nodded his head and ran back to Jax, grabbing his extended hand. "I'll call you later." Jax spoke. I just nodded my head, giving him a small smile. "Sounds good." I watched as two of three most important men in my life walked back to the awaiting truck. I waited until they left before I jammed myself back into my vehicle. The whole way to the bakery was filled with questions. I was questioning myself a lot lately. I don't know whether it was baby brain or the hormones that were all out of control, but I was starting to develop feelings for Jax again. It wasn't anything major but just seeing him made my heart skip a beat. I felt like a teenager that had a crush on the upperclassman but knew she had no chance with him. I don't even know why I was having these feelings. I was happily married to Matthew. I think a part of me would always love Jax but we could never be a couple again. It didn't work out the first time, there wouldn't be any chance at a second go-around. Jax and I lived very different lives, even when we were married. I was never into the whole SAMCRO party scene. If the club had a party, I would either stay in the back room or at Jax's house. I didn't feel comfortable being around that kind of environment. Don't even get me started on the women that hung around there. I'm not gonna say that I was little miss perfect but I would never walk around in the clothing or lack-thereof like those girls. I don't know whether the girls had bad childhoods or just wanted the attention of a man, but it was an awful sight to see. My first SAMCRO party consisted of watching a group of girls take turns with a member. I can't even remember the guy's name but it was not a pleasant sight. Jax and his friends didn't even bat an eye to the situation and here I was standing there like I was in the middle of a horror movie. That was the first and last party I ever attended and I was okay with that. That was the way Jax was brought up and I wasn't going to forbid him from attending those parties. To Jax, those parties represented who he was. He was a member of the Sons of Anarchy and he deserved to let loose and drink a little beer after a stressful week. The one thing I did not approve of was the fact that Jax and his club were associated with a porn business and its stars. Some of the girls were as normal as you and I but there were a certain few that made me feel embarrassed to be a woman. Ima Tite was one of those girls. She was the cause of Jax and I's problems starting out. I would go to the clubhouse and find her all over Jax and not even caring that I had just walked into the room. Ima was the type of girl that needed attention and it was Jax's attention that she craved. He was the Vice President of a powerful club and she hated the fact that I was his old lady and all she could ever get out of him was a random fuck in the sheets. I knew that he had slept with her on a couple occasions, I wasn't stupid. I also knew that Ima wasn't the only girl that Jax had sex with. Gemma and the other old ladies tried to assure me that the boys were doing no wrong when they went out on runs but I knew better than to believe that. Jax was a very attractive guy and he could get any girl he wanted just by looking at them. I mean that's how I ended up in Reno during the biggest snowstorm they've had in years…. When I arrived at the bakery, there was no sign of Gemma's car. I let out a sigh of relief as I gathered my things and starting walking across the street. I slowly opened the door and made a quick glance to see if anyone was there. A couple of the girls that worked for me were setting out freshly baked cookies while a few random customers made their orders for the day. I was just thankful that Gemma hadn't arrived yet, if she was gonna come at all.
"Oh thank goodness you're here-" One of my employees came running over. "Gemma Teller has been calling all morning looking for you. She even set one of those guys from the club over here to see where you were and why you weren't answering." She was a bit frantic but who could blame her. "She said that she wants you to call her as soon as you get in."
I let out a sigh and nodded my head. "I'll be in my office if you need me."
She looked at me with sympathetic eyes as I passed her the tray of coffees that I had gotten everyone. I slowly walked towards my office and threw my stuff down on the couch. I wasn't in the mood to talk to Gemma. She was probably the worst customer to have and I’ve had some winners in my day. I decided to call her back on my cell phone since the number was already programed. It only took two rings for her to pick up, meaning that she was sitting by the phone. "It's about time, Presley." She sneered. "I've tried calling you all morning and that little tart that works for you kept saying that you weren't in yet." I let out an annoyed sigh as I listened to her ramble on. "I was starting to get worried but Jax told me that you overslept." I just made a noise, not caring to reply. "I'm sure Jax told you that I’m having a dinner tonight and I need two cakes and tray of Chocolate Cookies." What kind of person orders two cakes and a tray full of cookies to be delivered the same day? I think Gemma honestly thought that she was my only customer.    "Gem, I can't just drop everything I have to do today to make your two cakes and dozens of cookies. Baking takes time you know." I heard her let out a sigh but I wasn't going to back down. "I'll see what I can do but I’m not gonna guarantee anything." Most girls would never speak to Gemma the way I have in the past. There had been times where curse words were flying out of my mouth before I even knew what I was saying. Gemma would just stand there and take it but I knew deep down that she wanted to tear me to shreds. I may have looked meek and small but I wasn't going to take someone barking orders at me when they had no right to do so. "Now, if you would excuse me, I have to get to work." Before she even had a time to respond, I ended the call and placed my phone back in my bag. I sat there for a second, rubbing my protruding stomach. Both Gemma and Jax would get me so worked up about things but I slowly learned not to let them get to me. I sat for a couple more minutes before I got up and went back into the showroom. I had so many orders to fill and Gemma's was the least of my worries at this point. Maybe if she had called in an order, I would have gotten them done and over with. Maybe when she realizes that she's not gonna have any desserts for her dinner tonight, then she'll see that the world of Presley's Sweets and Treats doesn't revolve around her either…. Jax's POV "Hand me that wrench, son." I spoke from underneath the Toyota I was working on. Business was going on an usual at the garage, probably the busiest it's been in days. "Here you go, daddy." Wyatt's little hand handed me the tool. "Thanks bud." I muttered as I took it out of his hand. I could see from the corner of my eye as his little legs swung from the stool he was sitting on. I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved bringing Wyatt to work with me. I could teach him things that the pencil neck that Presley married couldn't. I was able to teach him all about fixing cars, tools, and how to become a future member of SAMCRO. He was my mini-me, the club life ran in his blood. If Presley knew I allowed him to hear about the club, she would probably kick my ass but it was his birthright. He was Wyatt Jackson Teller, not Wyatt Jackson Abbott. I had no problem with Presley's husband, but I knew he had a big problem with me. He hated the fact that Pres dropped Wyatt off to me every morning. He wanted Wyatt to go this little prep school so he could start his education. Hell, he had all the education he needed here at the garage. It's not like I put him in a corner and had him do nothing all day. He helped me and the guys with everything he could. He knew what tools were which and what types of cars we were working on. Gemma would even take him in the office and he would help her with accounting and stuff like that. My kid wasn't stupid! He didn't need to be in a classroom yet. He needed to be with the people he loved and cared about. I didn't go to daycare and I ended up just fine. I'm pretty sure Presley didn't go to daycare either and she's fucking brilliant. I guess you could say that I didn't really like the guy either. I hated the fact that Presley decided that Matthew was the guy that completed her. I hated that Matthew was the one that gave her the life that she wanted and deserved. I hated that Matthew turned Presley into a Stepford Wife. Lastly, I hated the fact that Presley was pregnant and it wasn't mine. That girl was my heart and soul. I knew from the first day I had seen her that I was meant to be with her. There were no other girls that could compete with her and I had to have her. I had to put up a fight that's for sure but I could tell that she liked me as well. To be honest, I can still see it in her eyes….

Uraraka friends + friendship hc
Tumblr media
• Uraraka isn't "The popular girl" but everyone knows her and she knows everyone because she's soft, comforting and friendly. Also just a people-pleasing extrovert who charges by helping others. I wouldn't be surprised if she knew villains, realises it's them mid-fight and stops everything to talk them down from whatever crime they're doing. And even scarier, the villains listen. • She flirts with her friends endlessly but in a really vanilla way since it's all in good fun and it stays within boundaries, if they flirt back she will get very blushy and her forever-pink cheeks go red, but she doesn't stop, she just ups it while her whole face is blushing until she runs out of things to say and ends up shakily blowing a kiss and winking as she's processing all the nice things said.
• After the Sports Festival she asked Bakugou to spar. She wants to get better and she sees him as a goal, if she can solidly beat him in a fight then she can definitely know she's improved.
And I can easily imagine Bakugou agreeing, he wants to get better too and he respects others wanting to get better too. What he did not expect was she was learning to fight with knives and how stubborn she really is.
Well, he knew she was stubborn at the sports festival, if she could still move, even just barely, then she can still fight. He respects that even more. Both of these bitches need to learn to not push past their limits.
They goad each other so much. Uraraka can be mean when she wants to, saying things that probably aren't true but she knows she'll get a reaction out of it. She is terrified as she says it, but she knows this is what makes it challenging and the challenge is what she's here for. But usually she just says stuff like,
"How did I lose to you before? If you fight like this you have no chance of surpassing even Mineta,"
He is the only one who has seen her swear and no one believes him. It pisses him off exponentially.
• Her love language is quality time but also gift-giving which sucks because she is very poor. She actually becomes friends with Hatsune Mei from the support class as they both like to come up with creative and tailored ways to help individual people and come up with stuff they like!
After they become friends, Mei's latest inventions always have a hint of Uraraka in them, be they pink, somehow more adventurous than anything Mei could come up with on her own, or suspiciously some glitter thrown here and there.
When Mei is building stuff, Uraraka just sits there and listens to her ramble and work, she paints little hello kitty faces on desks, machines and even screws, it's basically her trademark.
• She has multiple alarms on her phone. As well as Iida's "good morning" messages at 5AM, she has alarms for 7am. 7:01am, 7:02am, 7:03am, 7:04am, 7:05am, 7:0- curse living far away so she has to take the train, or she'd be able to sleep in longer. but she always lets Iida know she does appreciate the sentiment. • She absolutely steals from the school cafeteria. Have you seen all that fancy expensive food? She won't steal much, just what she needs and it's the extra food that no one misses. Either she makes a deal with the chef about letting her have some leftovers or the chef would have no idea she's doing it. Even if they noticed some food missing, who's really going to suspect the cute pink bubbly friend-shaped Uraraka? Anyone else who's poor. That's who.
• She's not the mum friend, she's the aunt friend who will make sure everyone is safe and sound before doing something questionably illegal but since it's questionable she can plead ignorance.
• She and Iida get on very well despite being very different. They're both very nice, stubborn, emotional and passionate people yes, but Iida has no idea what the hell she is saying when she quotes memes. She's poor and a teenager, of course she goes to the internet for serotonin
"Uraraka I do not recall locating the barbeque condiment on your chest, what do you mean?"
"who is 'Deez' do I know them? You talk a lot about their nut collection, which is it almonds? peanut?"
"URARAKA THROWING ME THE PRINTER WHEN I ASKED FOR MY LOCKER KEYS IS RECKLESS AND DANGEROUS."
Poor boy went out "on the town" with her and they stopped at Mcdonalds, he looked completely out of place he had no idea what was happening, he just kept looking to Uraraka for guidance why there was a plastic figurine of a character from a recent movie among his food items. • She snorts when she laughs and she used to be really embarrassed by it but one day Mina and Tsuyu heard it while they were hanging out in her room and they found it so adorable they kept making her laugh to try to hear it again. She snorts more now, everyone is happy with this development.
• She has made plans before to mug Iida. In a friendly way of course. She would mug Momo but Momo loves gift giving and gives Uraraka pretty much anything she asks for anyways Momo is called "Sugar-Mommy in Uraraka's contacts. She was planning to mug Shouto before he joined the dekusquad and she found out he has a piece of shit dad and instead steals Enji's credit card.
She pays her bills with Endeavours money.
She also fucks around with it, like orders an entire truckload of All Might merch to be delivered to Endeavour, she changes every password she can, hires people to "re-decorate" Endeavours room to an All-Might-Stans-Fever-Dream and Endeavour was about to hound Shouto about it until he realises he's been inside nearby all day and would never have had a chance to order any of this.
Any money she doesn't spend on her family or herself, she spends on her friends.
• She probably has multiple part-time jobs. She helps her dad at his workplace, floating construction beams when the machines break down and helping where she can. But she doesn't get paid for that.
She does work at a small shop (Lidl is you're British, 7/11 if you're American) by the side of a gas station and she remembers all the employees birthdays and makes them little glittery cards.
• Eventually she works with Tsuyu at a cafe, they actually learn great communication skills there. They make secret signals that mean a certain table needs attention, "this guy is an angry customer, be careful" or someone needs a refill. All of them are of course subtle and it makes them feel like spies with secret missions it's great. These signals carry over into their training too. Everyone, even Aizawa at one point thought they somehow had a telepathic link, that let them know who was behind them or what was a threat the other couldn't have known about, where to go, how quick to go there it was madness.
They also cover each other's shifts without question when they know the other needs the day off. :3
• She makes a point to be soft, it's friendly and approachable, it helps people trust her. Don't get her wrong, she loves cute things, it makes her feel nice and safe, it's familiar and she wants to replicate that feeling, she wants to be able to walk into a room and have people smile because their hearts grow warm. She wants to laugh and giggle and joke with people, she wants to be a walking safe-space people can go to for comfort. She wants to be the hero you go to not only when you're in danger, but when you just need some comfort. She's a rare hero. She's a good one too.
• And when someone makes fun of her for being soft, she can't help but laugh. She apologises for laughing but she finds their ignorance so funny. It takes a lot to be soft and kind, it takes a special kind of person. In this world? In this world villains are a threat to everyone, heroes get corrupt, families are forced out of homes, quirk injustice and discrimination runs rampant, the kids who are too brave, dumb, stupid or desperate for their own good become child-soldiers/heroes, people, good people who try to provide for others the only way they know how, the only way left since legal society won't help them and then get called a villain for it. She's seen it. The fights, the homes destroyed, the families ignored and hushed, the horrible, horrible world. But she won't let that change her.
The world is harsh and cold, that doesn't mean she has to be. She'll be soft in spite of the world, no matter how hard the laws push to divide and destroy and make you rely on them and only them, Uraraka knows the darkness there is in society, in humanity. but more than that she knows she is too stubborn to let that win.
So she enjoys her pink fluffy pillows, enjoys the makeup that she can afford, the sparkly dresses, the cute hairpieces, the hello kitty stationary, her pink rounded hero costume, she'll be friendly to everyone, she'll be nice and kind and thoughtful to everyone, she wants to make the world a safer but also happier place to live in.
Plus when they mistake her kindness for naivety, the best catharsis she gets is when she knocks that smug look off peoples faces for underestimating her..

Chapter 3 (The Innocent)
Tumblr media
The next day came around, Cesar, Monse, and Elizabeth were walking to school. The three were talking when Jamal and Ruby rode past them with their bikes.
“Get out the way,” Ruby called out as Jamal imitated a care engine.
Elizabeth chuckled, but gags when Cesar kissed Monse, “I love y’all, but don’t do that in front of me,”
“Eli, shut up,” Cesar rolled his eyes, “you and my brother probably do that when you’re alone,”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Elizabeth looked at him confused.
“Nothing,” Cesar shrugged as the three continued on their way to school.
Elizabeth was in class with Ruby and Olivia when the intercom came on with the announcements, “Attention, students. One last reminder to buy your tickets to tonight’s homecoming dance. A magical night of wonder, excitement, and romance can be yours for only $10.99,”
“So…” Ruby trailed off, “you going?”
“Yeah,” Olivia smiled, “Do you…”
“Do you…” Ruby started at the same time as Olivia, “you go first,”
“Do you need any underwear?” Elizabeth started laughing at the turn of events.
“What?” Ruby asked, horrified.
“ Your mom’s at Costco,” Olivia explained.
“Um…” Ruby turned to look straight, “I’m good,”
“Ok,” Olivia turned back to her phone, “also, they ran out of your gummy vitamins so your mom got you small easy to swallow pills. That cool?”
Ruby hummed in embarrassment while Elizabeth couldn’t breathe and began weezing at the turn of events. She had to contain herself when Ruby turned and glared at her so she looked down and took out her notebook with her lips sealed, but still let out a few laughs. The teacher arrived inside the class and began the lesson so Elizabeth listened and took notes as her eyes drifted towards the clock to see how long left until class is over.
Lunch came around and Elizabeth was the first one to get to the table with her food, she sat with her food in front of her and a book. A few pages turned and a couple bites into her food, the group finally came to the table so she put away her book and looked to the group, but an awkward pause passed.
“I’m wearing indigo tonight,” Ruby interrupted the silence, “I thought we should claim colors to avoid outfit clases. Indigo? Any objections?”
“Nah, Ruby. All you, man,” Elizabeth chuckled.
“Oh, and my pants have red pockets. I know, it sounds weird, but it works,” Ruby continued.
“What are the pockets for?” Olivia asked before she leaned towards Monse, “Roofies?”
The boys and Elizabeth looked at them weird, “so what time should we meet?” Cesar asked the group.
“Yeah, let’s get that in the books. More specific, the better,” Jamal said, “what are you guys thinking, like 8? 8:05? 8:10?”
“I’m gonna play it by ear,” Olivia replied, “I don’t think I’m feeling it,”
“What? Why?” Ruby asked.
“Not sure I’m in the mood to be objectified,” Olivia smiled sarcastically, “if I want to see boners, I’ll look online,”
“Didn’t you hear Principle Serge? Dance is a no-bone zone,” Jamal brought up the announcement.
“Are you kidding me? Dances are cesspools of bad behavior,” Cesar shook his head at Monse’s strategy, “I don’t wanna go,”
“Yeah, people get freaky, but what’s wrong with that?” Ruby shrugged, “I don’t get it,”
“Yeah, Monse. Why don’t you wanna go? Explain it to us. You were pretty excited this morning,” Cesar pried into Monse.
“That was before I remembered that dances are lame,” Monse glared at the boy, “and maybe we’re not in the mood,”
“Oh,” Ruby looked as if he realized something, “is it your menses?”
Elizabeth started laughing while Olivia looked at him weird, “her what?”
“Her lady pond runneth red,” Ruby said before Jamal hit him on his arm to stop.
“My what?” Monse glared at Ruby.
“What?” Ruby looked genuinely confused, “what am I saying wrong?”
“Everything!” The two girls exclaimed at the confused friend.
“You guys just don’t understand what it’s like to be a woman and treated like an object,” Monse looked at the guys, “we have hearts!”
“And minds,” Olivia added, “so take out any question that we’re going tonight. The answer is no. with a period, ‘cause that’s what it’s actually called,”
“Girls, let’s dine in a less hostile environment,” Monse stood up.
“You read my mind,” Olivia rolled her eyes.
“I gotta go anyway to finish some assignments,” Elizabeth chuckled as she grabbed her backpack, “I don’t know what happened, but I’ll see y’all later,”
The day went by as classes dragged on until the last bell rang and students flooded the halls to leave the place they personally called hell. Elizabeth was part of the last few people in the flood since she needed to go to her locker and pick up her homework, but when she walked out and saw the feared gang leader inside his beloved cherry red Impala. She wanted to turn back and exit through the back; however, he already saw her when he got out and leaned his back into the car, staring at her. The girl decided to try to ignore him and walk past without a glance. She was about to walk past until he gently held her right hand before she walked past.
“Mamita,” Oscar smirked at the girl, “you ain’t getting rid of me easy so get in the car,”
Elizabeth glared at the older man in front of her, “nah, I got some shit to focus on so I’ll catch up with Ruby and Jamal,”
Oscar’s smirked dropped as he quickly, but gently pushed her against his car, resting his hands on the top of the car, “they may be tu amigos pero I’m not afraid to beat their asses,”
Elizabeth felt everyone’s eyes on them so she rolled her eyes and complied, not wanting to be the center of everyone’s attention. Oscar smirked and kissed her forehead before moving to open the passenger door for her. The gang leader went to the driver’s side and turned to his passenger.
“Where do you wanna go?” Oscar took the blunt behind his ear.
“Home,” Elizabeth’s stomach decided to rumble at that moment.
Oscar chuckled, “Nah, we stoppin’ somewhere to eat. Whatchu feelin’?”
“Nuggets. Chicken nuggets. Let’s go to McDonald’s and you’re paying since you’re kinda kidnapping me,” Elizabeth glared at Oscar.
“Alright, mamita. Whatever you say,” Oscar smirked at the irritated girl as he turned into the parking lot of a McDonald’s.
The two got out once he parked and went inside to put in their order. While the two were waiting, she got a text from the girls group chat asking if she was going to the dance with them. She didn’t know that Oscar moved to stand right behind her, chest touching back, and saw the text.
“You goin’ to the dance?” Oscar asked.
“Don’t know,” Elizabeth shrugged, turning to face him, “might pick up an extra shift that night at the restaurant,”
“Nope. You’re not because you study too much and work too much,” Oscar shook his head and laid a hand on her waist, “you and I are hanging out tonight,”
“I need to, ‘Scar,” Elizabeth rolled her eyes as she pushed his hand off her waist, “deje de tratar de tocarme,”
“Por que, bebita? I can’t help myself. eres demasiado hermosa,” Oscar smirked as he wrapped an arm around her neck and walked to the register to order their food.
“Hello. Welcome to McDonald’s. What can I get you guys?”
“Let’s get the 20 piece chicken nuggets combo and a number one,” Oscar took out his wallet and brought out two twenties.
Oscar got his change as Elizabeth went to the soda fountain and chose her drink, Oscar coming up from behind and choosing his. They decided to take a sit next to the pick up counter and small talked their way until the food came out.
Elizabeth looked down at her food as she dipped her nugget in ranch, “Oscar, why are you trying so hard to get at me? I’m nothing special and there are a lot of other girls that want you and will make time for you. I’m not gonna lie, I barely have time to even hang out with my friends so I’m barely gonna have time for you,”
Oscar swallowed the food in his mouth, “Well, I want you because there is something about you. No me importa si apenas tienes tiempo, siempre y cuando me des algo de tu tiempo. Let me claim you as mine, bebe,”
The two ate their food, moving past the subject, and made their way home, but Oscar passed Elizabeth’s house and continued making his way farther from her house.
“Oscar, where are you going? We passed my house,” Elizabeth was getting confused.
“I just wanna show you something,” Oscar glance at her.
Oscar drove in silence as his right arm had moved to rest behind Elizabeth, his hand lightly touching her right shoulder. Elizabeth felt her heartbeat increase in her chest and it was foreign feeling to her because she never felt like that towards anybody. However, she pushed it aside and focused on the road when she realized that they ended up at the beach. The moment Oscar parked the car, Elizabeth got out and stood in front of the car with a huge smile on her face, turning to Oscar and giving him the sight of her smiling face with the son behind her. It was quite a beautiful sight to the scary leader.
“Why did you take me here?” Elizabeth asked, smile stuck on her face.
“This is the place I go to when I need to think and want to get away from Freeridge. The openness and sounds of the oceans help me think and relax,” Oscar stared at the never ending blue ocean as Elizabeth admired the man from the side.
Elizabeth was surprised by his answer, “so you took me to your secret place?”
Oscar nodded, “I want to show you that I am serious about you and that I want you to be mine. Why do you work so hard? Why do you hustle that much?”
Elizabeth took a pause to contemplate telling him, “my dad was a construction worker so he would be in dangerous areas. One day, he was on ground level doing his job when something happened and he got hit in the head. Ever since then he has been messed up and goes to hospital visits to check on his head. Hospital bills build up and the compensation that he got was used on his bills and appointment he needs to go to so I work to help my mom out with bills and I get some extra money for myself and the future,”
Oscar cleared his throat and moved in front of Elizabeth to hold both of her hands while interlocking their fingers, “I’m here if you need anything, mamita,”
“Gracias, ‘Scar,” Elizabeth had a soft smile on her face, “Let’s take things slow and maybe I’ll be yours,”
The two smiled at each other as they moved to look at the sunset, but it seemed like the two of them were enchanted with the other.
“Tell me about you,” Elizabeth stared at the man next to her, “why did you choose this life? Just tell me everything about you,”
“When I was young, my father was killed and my mother was a drug addict. That left me to take care of Cesar so I did all I could to take care of him. I mean, I had an opportunity to go to this fancy school in Pasadena and I had recommendation letters written from the principal and teachers, but I didn’t want Cesar alone so I gave it up and got jumped in because of ‘destiny’ of the Diaz familia,” Oscar scoffed, “it’s hard. I think about what could have been, but I don’t regret not going because Cesar is here,”
Elizabeth smiled at the love that was so evident in his eyes and tone when he talked about his little brother, “thanks for sharing, ‘scar. I didn’t know you were smart,”
“Pendeja,” Oscar chuckled with Elizabeth while wrapping his arm around her and kissing her head.

can i get uhhhhhhh.. trans merc head canons?? maybe found family?? thanks!
you can DEFINITELY get trans merc headcanons. comin up hot. i have so many headcanons pertaining to the mercs being trans that i can’t fit them into one post, so i’m just gonna do stuff related to transitioning here, and if you wanna hear about how i think they realized they’re trans or came out, ill do a post about that too
Soldier:
you know how cis people think that you have dysphoria ur whole life and then you get The Surgery (The Surgery) and it all goes away that very day? and that’s just. it? solider is the only person on earth for whom that holds true
he has rod-insert phalloplasty and double incision top surgery
Jane Doe is actually his real birth name, it doesn’t give him dysphoria so he just kept it
his phalloplasty used his arm as the donor site, so he’s got a patch of pinkish skin on his left arm
he transitioned pretty early on, maybe in his early twenties. he’s known he’s trans since he was a kid
shaving gives him INTENSE gender euphoria
Scout:
he just went on T and boy is he excited
he runs in his binder (dumb) and frequently binds with bandages (dumb), so he has at least one deformed rib. twinsies
like as SOON as he finds out medic is trans he asks for top surgery & gets it. he gets periareolar top surgery
when medic explains to him that periareolar top surgery keeps nipple sensation intact but double incision doesn’t he immediately starts calling the other mercs “numb-nips”
“it’s my shot day someone come stab me in the așs”
he didn’t choose his own name, his mom chose it for him when he came out. if he chose it it would’ve CLEARLY been tommy, as a tribute to tom jones
Medic:
double incision top surgery
i know this is wildly unrealistic but it’s tf2 so i will claim it. medic gave himself top surgery and instead of giving himself nipple grafts he just like, carved a smiley face and star of david on there
he knows the most about trans health and history out of all the mercs (partially because he’s old, partially because he’s a doctor, partially because he’s more involved in the community than the others)
because of this the other mercs come to him for help with trans issues a lot
he wants to have a baby biologically SO bad. so so bad. i think i get this headcanon from how lovingly he holds that baboon baby in the comics
he works really hard to preserve his fertility throughout his transition and as he gets older. he doesn’t end up being able to have a baby until he’s in his 50s but he’s so happy when he does
i could go off about my dad medic headcanons for hours but ill save that for another post if u guys request
Demo:
double incision top surgery for this guy too
talks about being trans all the time (every time i watch meet the demo and he says “i got a manky eye, i’m a black scottish cyclops” i mentally add transgender to the list)
constantly jokes about how he “blew it off” (you know what “it” is)
he has relatively bad dysphoria his entire life, but being open about it really helps
he doesn’t even know soldier is trans until he asks about the skin graft on his arm. he sees him use his rod implant and he just accepts that that’s how penises work
you know how being skilled with explosives runs in the degroot family?? my personal headcanon is that transness is also genetic to the degroots. both of demo’s parents were trans. ill talk about this more in another post if u guys want
Heavy:
no top surgery, his chest is a little large compared to a cis guy’s but his overall size makes it look more normal
if he ever does get top surgery, though, he gets inverted T/anchor incision
he has PCOS. he got a hysterectomy when medic was rooting around in there for the first time and noticed the cysts (”there will be so much more room in here once we get rid of your uterus!!” “room for what?” “…oh, you know”)
i think he might get full meta?? (as in metoidioplasty) i cant decide if he’d want a vaginectomy though. help me decide
Spy:
double incision top surgery. he paid top dollar for it, it’s very nicely done
he refers to his top surgery as a “mastectomy” (which is the correct term but like, who says that)
he gave birth to scout. he was pregnant when he met scout’s mom, and after he gave birth to scout he ended up leaving him with her. i cant decide if it was more of a “can you please take my baby” situation or a “im going to the store to get milk” situation. either way though i don’t think scout’s mom would’ve objected to keeping him, he was an adorable baby
he owns so many packers. he gets them custom made. he has them displayed in his closet like designer wigs
Sniper:
no surgery at all! he never plans on getting it either. that’s why he has the vest
his chest is like, small and somewhat muscular. you guys have seen skinny trans men with muscle tîtty before i don’t have to explain this to you
actually i want you to take this discord screenshot. i said this last thursday
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he’s one of the most obviously trans mercs because he just insists on dressing like he based his outfit off the wikihow article for how to pass as male
i can say a lot more about my trans hcs for sniper in another post but im trying to keep this one at a readable length (failed step one)
Engineer:
no top surgery!
i think he has simple meta or maybe full meta without a vaginectomy (*epic rap battles of history voice* you decide)
he transitioned much later in life than the other mercs, his transition only actually started like five years ago
Pyro:
they’re agender!!
AFAB with no surgery or HRT
they use they/them pronouns or alternating he/she (”he’s not here, is she?”)
there’s not much to say about pyro’s gender! they just don’t have one
OH HOLY SHIT DO THE MERCS THROW THEM A GENDER REVEAL PARTY
ASKFLDLJSDKFLJDSFLKSDJFDLSKFJLSK
BONUS
Miss Pauling:
you know how when some trans women start hrt, they get really bad cravings for pickles? miss p has that like hell
she eats a hot pickle in her car every single day. it gets to the point where the people who work the graveyard shift at mcdonalds remember her (she has a habit of ordering “a fry container full of pickle slices”)
she takes estrogen but she doesn’t have any surgery! i dont think she ever gets any
scout very nervously explains to her that he’s trans at one point and all she can do is blink and say “did you think i was cis”
thank you for taking this journey with me. now imagine how long this list would’ve been if i didn’t narrow it down

Roman has lost twenty two jobs in the past three years, which is offensive on many levels. First of all, twenty two was a number that could only be divided by two and eleven, which is much worse than twenty eight minutes ago when he had lost only a total of twenty one jobs in the past three years.
Twenty two only ever brought bad luck.
Additionally, he had been fired from all of his previous jobs so that meant that he had technically failed twenty two times before. Roman was not a fan of failure, not a fan of other people (Virgil) knowing about said failure and lording it over him.
And, of course, there was also the fact that Roman was a grown adult and suddenly money was an issue when he wanted to not be evicted from his apartment. Or, you know, eat.
So when his brother picks up on the third ring, Roman knows that Virgil already is aware what he’s gonna ask.
“Again?” Virgil says instead of the usual “hello”. He sounds tired, worn out, but Roman gets the feeling its not really directed at him.
“It was an accident,” Roman whines, slumped over steering wheel of his car. “I swear!”
“That’s the second this month.”
“I can’t help it, Emo Undertaker.”
Which is a lie, because he definitely can help it and has helped it before. Roman is just bad at helping it. He thought he was doing well! He was really trying this time! He had managed to snag an editing job for a newspaper that required barely any talking to other people! He could make it through the day without actually talking to people and then there would be no issues other than his crippling desire to hold a conversation which was easily overlooked in the grand scheme of things--
But really, he should have guessed. No one, not even his absolute idiot of a(n ex) boss said “I’m gonna schedule you because you’re the only one stupid enough to say yes” to someone’s face.
Perhaps on his next resume he should title it Roman Prince, Psychic.
On the other side of the phone, Virgil huffs distantly, “No its my brother, Pat. He got fired again.”
“Patton is there?” Roman asks.
He can almost see Virgil cringe on the other end of the phone, “Uh yeah.”
Roman’s lips twist downward on his already not-great mood. “Virge, it’s been months--”
“I know!” Virgil says, “I know! There’s just some stuff we have to do first.”
“We?” The word is short on his tongue, bitter, leaving Roman’s tongue chasing down syllables for the empty space.
“Hey weren’t we talking about your lack of a job?” Virgil says suddenly.
“I do not want that creeper using you, Virgil.”
“Hey, Pat’s not a creeper.” Virgil says sounding more annoyed than Roman’s sure he has a right to be. “New rule, I don’t tell you to stop reading minds, and you don’t tell me to stop seeing dead people.”
“There’s a difference between seeing dead people, and seeing dead people Virgil.”
“Hey have you considered shutting up?”
“Look, he may be cute, but he’s been dead for twenty years--”
“Roman.”
“I’m just saying! He is old enough to be our dad, dude!”
“I’m hanging up.”
He does before Roman can say anything else. Roman flips his phone in his hand three times (a good number, Roman’s favorite) and senses the on coming text before it arrives. He twists his keys in the ignition of his car and listens as it rumbles to life with a story of the previous owner (Harold Johnston, who purchased it new, drove it for a while, hit two deer, and got four speeding tickets on before passing it on to his son who crashed it once in a drowsy driving accident that resulted in it being sent in a reused car dealership where Molly Keller bought it----).
By the time Roman makes it through the seven stop lights (three of which he squeezes through because Carl Smith is out jogging and pressed the crosswalk button at just the right time), there’s a message from Virgil in his inbox with a list of new places that were hiring.
It wasn’t that Roman has never thought about starting his own business, because he has. Many times, all the time. Every time he fell asleep. He imagined a cute little office off mainstreet: A psychic shop with charms in the windows that glowed at all hours, colorful draperies and scented candles that would make the shop float on mystery and otherworldness. He’d emerge from the back of the store in elegant clothes, like an ethereal being to startle any customers who dropped in, and he’d whip up a facade of a crystal ball, hide fans around the shop, and electrify the table in the middle of the room to sell the bit.
Roman has thought about starting his own psychic business before. But unfortunately, no one wants to be told things they already knew.
Which of course was the only psychic thing Roman can do. Read minds and see inner dreams with absolutely no ability to confirm them happening and-or not happening.
(And you only tell a person once that they’re getting a puppy for Christmas before you learn your lesson.)
To be perfectly honest, which Roman tries to be as he flicks on the lights to his apartment three times, Virgil would have much more luck maintaining a psychic shop. They’re almost opposites, if true opposites were a thing that exists.
Instead of reading thoughts, Roman’s younger brother hears murder stories. Instead of seeing dreams, Virgil sees dead people wandering the streets.
It made growing up and having friends a real challenge. If Roman had a nickel for every time Virgil had grabbed his arm with his cold fingers and looked him in the eye before asking if Roman could see the person in front of them, he’d have three nickels. Which wasn’t a lot, but there was something upsetting about hearing the complete terror in his little brother’s voice when he couldn’t tell the living from the dead.
The dead also like to talk to Virgil, like to hover around him because he gives off a shadowy aura that works like a drug on ghosts. It makes them feel a bit more alive, makes them more corporal, makes them more dangerous. And once they’ve had a taste, they come back for more, and more, and more.
Ghosts are good for getting information, but rarely good for anything else.
(Roman does not trust Patton. Not since Virgil told him the ghost had shown up, not since the last guy had whispered all the things he would do to Virgil if Virgil tried to leave or cut him off, not since Roman had put a hole in the hospital waiting room wall because that was his brother and he should have been there.)
Roman calls Virgil back just before dinner time after he had gone over the list (seven places, another good number) and it rings only twice before his brother picked up.
“Hey Ro, I’m kinda busy right now--”
“Busy?” Roman asks, “On Tuesday?”
“Yes!” Virgil hisses, “Very busy-- ow! Don’t touch that!-- I’ll call you later, Ro.”
“Are you raising the dead again?”
“What? No! I’m, uh,” There was a shuffling, a swear word, and a distant, “at the movies?”
“Right, I’ll pretend I believe that.” Roman says, “I was just checking the list. Your coffee shop is on here.”
“Yes, it is.” Virgil shifts the phone, “Remy fired a guy last week for purposely giving people regular coffee instead of decaf. I thought Remy was gonna kill the guy.”
“Are you sure you want me to apply there?”
There is a swatch and the telltale sound of a match lighting, and the phone shifts again, “I had an idea.”
Roman traces his fingers over the edge of his counter top, absently counting the corners, and grating his skin when it comes up even numbered. “Oh?”
(wrong wrong wrong. Its too short)
“Yeah, maybe you’ve been going about this all wrong. Instead of cutting yourself off from people, maybe you should embrace them-- ow!” Virgil makes a hiss and Roman guesses plops his fingers in his mouth quickly, “Fucking candles. I hate lighting matches.”
“Stop trying to raise the dead for a second and help your dearest brother understand,” Roman says. “What do you mean “embrace them”?”
His fingers slice the edge of the counter, four four four isn’t enough, is too much, its wrong.
“A customer came up to me yesterday and demanded a refund because I didn’t put whip cream her latte.” Virgil explains. “I was angry because she didn’t tell me that she wanted whip cream and its not like I can read minds-- and then I remembered my brother can read minds.” The phone shifts again, “Besides you love talking to people and don’t even try to deny it. That editing job was slowly killing you.”
Roman is quiet for a moment, because, really what is he supposed to say to that? Reading minds isn’t all that great, the same way as seeing their childhood cat that died seven years ago wasn’t all that great. But Virgil was also right: Roman missed talking to people, missed the days when he could show up without having to study for the “pop” quizzes and when he could do little magic tricks to wow his friends in between the classes.
And even if everyone thought his psychic abilities were just parlor tricks, Roman still misses the attention.
“I’ve gotta go, Ro,” Virgil says, “McDonalds nuggets get cold fast, and the dead don’t like cold food.”
“Picky, are they?”
“Very much so.” Virgil agrees, “Just send in an application. I’ll put in a good word to Remy, and if it doesn’t work out, we’ll figure something else out.”
Roman’s fingers hit the corner of the counter again, for the seventh time and he flings them back like they were burning. “Right, yeah. Sure.”
“Bye, Ro.”
“Yeah, thanks, Casper.” Roman says and means it deeply.
Virgil ends the call.
Roman twists the phone in his hand three times as the call screen closes. The puzzle game on his phone is about two minutes 120 seconds from reminding him his game hasn’t been played yet today and wouldn’t play at all today if he ended up in the hospital waiting room because something his brother got food poisoning from McDonald’s--
Roman fingers tap the call button again.
First ring, “Ro?”
“Sorry,” Roman blurts out, “I-- am? Damnit! I really am sorry, Virge.”
Virgil’s quiet for a moment, but then he says softly, “I get it. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Roman’s mouth snaps close. He ends the call and lets his brother go back to raising the dead on his Tuesday night where he is not going to get food poisoning. He leaves his phone on the counter and flicks the switch three times before leaving the room to go find his computer and fill out the online application.
***
Roman enjoys his twenty third job interview much less than Remy Dormire does. It lasts slightly less than twelve minutes, and by the end of it Roman is ushered behind the counter and given a brown apron (with a single hole at the bottom) and a nametag with his name on it.
(First name only, and it makes the back of his mouth taste like bitter oranges.)
Virgil gives him a rare smile on his way back out, and finishes making two drinks at once, and ships them off to the customers waiting patiently at the end of the counter.
It wasn’t quite the calm Roman was used too, but it wasn’t unpleasant. Thoughts flowed over Roman like a river, dangerous but exciting. He felt a type of connection to everyone in the store, a type of connection that came from understanding the blurbs and fragments that made up a consciousness.
It was strange to think that no one else felt like this, felt like they were touching and being touched in a way that was closer than physical contact. How could anyone not want to feel like this?
But how could anyone know what they were missing when they had never had such a feeling before in their lives?
He had tried explaining it to Virgil once, twice, thrice before. He wishes he could send thoughts the way he read them.
Roman leans over the other side of the counter watching Virgil pour coffee into a styrofoam cup, “You’re off in a minute right?” He taps the the dividing wall, “Wanna grab lunch?”
Virgil hums, his eyes flicking to the side just enough for Roman to guess who might be standing in the empty space.
Roman taps again, “Unless you and Ghost McGee already have fun plans.”
“They can be changed.” Virgil says, and slides the drink over the counter, “Logan!”
Roman shuffles to the side so a guy with glasses and a plaid button up can get his drink. “I don’t want to get in the way of your ghost time. And I definitely don’t want you bringing undead dilemmas to our lunch.”
“I don’t have--” Virgil huffs, “Patton has things to do this afternoon anyway.”
Roman frowned. “Things to do? The guy’s dead.”
Virgil scowls darker than usual. Actually now that Roman is looking, he notices that Virgil’s eyeshadow is a shade lighter than normal: as if he’s trying to make his skin look less pale by comparison. His fingers tap the dividing wall again as Roman narrows his eyes at his brother and tries to remember if he’s ever looked his drained after a night of summoning the dead for a ghost party.
“Five minutes,” Virgil says abruptly, “I’ll see you then.” He wipes the counter with a purple rag and then uses it to slide right away from Roman entirely.
Its a cheap tactic. Roman’s almost offended. The buzz of the cafe hums around him, through him, and causing goosebumps right down his spine. Its exciting, being close to people, almost exciting enough to distract Roman from the predicament of Virgil being cagey-er than before (which he hadn’t thought was possible). His knuckles tap the wall three times and he turns on his heel to settle into a chair for the next five minutes.
(Five was an okay number, Roman supposed. Seven was better, and Three was the best. But Five wasn’t an even number so it was something. At least, no one ever got cancer when he counted to five.)
Roman’s never been good at singling out thoughts in a busy location: too little practice, not enough reason to need to. The process itself required a lot of focus and will power and it felt a lot like pulling out teeth (something he had done when he was seven and Virgil was five and he had lost two teeth in a row and it was wrong, and he couldn’t figure out how to explain it to his parents when they came to figure out why the doors kept slamming). Cutting out the thoughts that weren’t even in order, had no logical reasoning: in the span of a minute a person could go from thinking about a TV show, to thinking about the color of the tile floor, to the scent in the air, to a birthday present for a friend, to, to, to. And with multiple people? In a small space like this coffee shop? It was easier to stop a mountain slide than cut off one person from himself.
Roman’s never been good at singling out thoughts in a busy location, but just this once he’s makes an attempt.
Roman’s never been good at singling out thoughts in a busy location--
Virgil is his brother, and so that means that Roman is obligated to figure out why he’s being cagey. Especially if he’s going to bring the moping to their lunch. And Roman’s absolutely not patient enough to wait five minutes to figure out what is causing him distress.
Virgil's thoughts feel exactly like him, Roman thinks. He's a little cold, a little clammy, a little crafty. His presence is like a cat evading capture by any means and when Roman was particularly bored as a child he used to chase after them, chase the feelings, and the scraps of emotions and impressions that sped by like he was actively running out of time to think them.
Virgil is thinking about coffee. He’s thinking about how to punch buttons into the computer they use for the register and how the person currently ordering is an actual idiot because they don’t serve a “Vanilla Chai Tea Latte” because this store is not a freaking Starbucks, its either a  “Vanilla Chai Tea” or a “Vanilla Latte” and fuck, Roman get out of my head before I send a Zombie after you.
So Roman blinks back seeing his brother at the counter, using that customer service smile to please the middle aged woman digging through her purse, but his eyes are dark when he shoots Roman his patented don’t-mess-with-me glare.
I said five minutes, fucking wait will you.
And Roman debates for a moment, less than a minute, just 21 seconds staying there in Virgil's mind that feels a lot like a sweater in the middle of the winter. But in the end Virgil’s mind moves on to the ingredients in a Vanilla Chai Tea and someone else and the girl in the corner has the top third song of the week stuck in her head on a loop and Roman is ever so easily distracted by the repetition of the three lines--
He falls out of his brother’s mind and back into the connective conscious of humans as a whole. There's nothing jarring about it. It's just simple acceptance, like the course of a river gently rolling over him.
If he closes his eyes it feels like safety and warmth and calmness.
The next thing he knows there's a shove as his shoulder that nearly nearly knocks him off the chair. Virgil's standing there, his hair sticking up from where he yanked off his visor and his mysterious purple eyes glowing with annoyance and irritation and a bit of worry.
"I've been calling you," He says, "Are you alright?"
Roman offers him a blinding smile, that most likely comes across dopey, "Absolutely, Graveyard ghoul!”
Virgil stares at him for a moment longer, mouth curled downwards. “Holy shit, just how socially starved are you? You look like you’re on drugs.”
Roman’s vision is a little blurry. He rubs his eye to clear it, and is surprised when it comes back with tears. Was he crying? “I’m perfectly fine!” He flicks away the tears, because honestly they’re happy tears, and they mean so much and absolutely nothing at the same time.
He gathers his stuff and stands up, (tall enough that he can count the three inch difference between him and Virgil), “Are we going to lunch now?”
Virgil keeps staring at him for a moment, and Roman can only glimpse fractions of impressions from him before his eyes narrow with suspicion.
“Fine. Yeah.” Virgil says, “I know just the place.”
****
“Really, this place?” Roman asks and almost can’t quite believe it.
Virgil, in all his brother loving glory, does not give him a response. Since he was the one driving he puts the car in park (“not this spot! Use that one!” “Is this necessary?” “Do you like your current car insurance number, Virge?”) and then kicks the door open with more force than necessary. In the car is a lot quieter than in the cafe, but Virgil spends the entire drive thinking of musical numbers rather than what is bothering him.
The only things that Roman learns from the twenty minute drive to a sandwich shop in the middle of the city is that, Virgil is really into The Guy Who Doesn’t Like Musicals for someone who doesn’t like musicals, and that he’s three times a better driver than Roman can ever hope to be.
“Why here, Virge?” Roman asks getting out of the car and stumbling around the edge of the trunk. His brother is already across the parking lot by that time. “We passed nine other shops on the way here!”
Virgil’s hand goes flying up and snaps close in a silencing motion. Roman thinks that its way more effective on ghosts than on living being that he can’t control, but he goes quiet anyway. Virgil huddles by the storefront glass doors turning his around with his hand to his ear-- is he seriously pretending to be on the phone right now?-- and is peering into the shop as inconspicuously as he can.
Roman is beyond confused.
Virgil takes a deep breath, and nods to himself apparently seeing whatever he was looking for. He grabs the door and then waves Roman inside quickly like he’s embarrassed to be seen with him.
“What is happening?” Roman asks.
“Just shut up and follow my lead.” Virgil says.
And proceeds to go up to the counter and order a sandwich like a normal person. Roman frowns at the implication that he doesn’t know how to order a sandwich from a shop. His fingers knock the counter (Ew the last customer did not wash their hands after using the restroom, ew, ew!) and he gives the tired sandwich maker a dazzling smile.
He looks a little old to be working in food retail in honesty. Much more Virgil and Roman’s age than the high school teenagers that are manning the cash register a few feet over. His eyes are gold and brown and very interesting to look at, along with with the dusting of concealer that is all over his cheek covering up something. His name tag is strategically missing in the moment but Roman doesn’t think it matters too much in the grand scheme of things.
The guys name is Dante Ethan Ekans. He’s tired. Overworked. Not paid enough.
He got a nice voice though. He keeps glancing between Virgil and Roman and Virgil, Virgil, Virgil. So much so that he puts way too much mayo on Roman’s sandwich.
Roman grabs a thing of chips and throws them on the counter at the same time as Dante the sandwich maker puts his carefully wrapped flatbread sandwich next to the register to be rung up. Instead of sliding to the back, Dante leans on the counter next to the sandwiches ignoring the high schooler ringing them up and grins at (a blushing????) Virgil.
“Back again, Raccoon?” Dante the sandwich maker says flicking his tongue out just enough to show off a tongue piercing. Its not something Roman thought could be attractive, but somehow he makes it attractive.
And if Roman can tell that from two feet away, Virgil’s hopeless as the target of such an action.
“Yeah,” Virgil says, “I mean- I just-- I wanted lunch.”
“I can see,” Dante says with a smile. “You’ve made a habit out of coming here for lunch. A guy has to wonder if thats the only reason you keep coming back.”
Roman looks at him, and then Dante the sandwich maker, and thinks he almost understands what is going on.
“Virgil, quick question….”
“I’ll buy you a cookie if you can hold your fucking tongue for three more seconds.” Virgil snaps out loud and then thinks so horrifically loud in his head that Roman resists the urge grimace.
Say it out loud. I dare you.
Virgil is glaring at him again. Dante is staring at him like he’s just now noticing that Virgil came with someone, despite the fact that the man made his sandwich. He pushes off the counter suddenly, with his eyes darting between Virgil and Roman and his thoughts becoming clouded with a sudden flurry of unhappy impressions then he clears his throat and hums a self dismissal.
“And Ice cream from the parlor on First Street.” Roman whispers quickly.
“Roman!” Virgil snaps.
“Deal or no?”
“I hate you.”
“What type of brother would I be if you didn’t hate me?” Roman says loudly without even looking at Virgil. Dante stumbles his steps towards the back. Roman thinks he glances back, but its so quick that Roman really only has the unraveling of the sandwich makers shoulders to take as assurance he was heard.
Roman leans towards his brother in a much, much lower voice, “is this why you’ve been distracted? Because boy troubles?”
“Shut up!” Virgil hisses back and elbows him.
“That will be $23.36.” The cashier says effectively keeping them from breaking into a brawl at the counter.
Roman taps his foot in a series of three while Virgil pays with a debt card and takes their sandwiches and drink cups to a table.
“He’s flipping amazing,” Roman says once they’re sitting and Virgil’s stopped blushing through his concealer. “What’s the problem?”
“Can you read his thoughts right now?” Virgil hisses back. He does a great job of flicking a piece of lettuce off his sandwich.
“Can I-- YES!” Roman presses a hand to his chest in mock offense. “I am insulted you had to ask at all--”
“Just do it.” Virgil snaps and then folds his arms on the table and burrows his head into them without even attempting to eat his sandwich at all.
Roman imagines that Patton is floating over Virgil’s shoulder even if he can’t see the ghost. He hopes the ghost is as confused as he is, but he seriously doubts it.
“It shouldn’t be that hard.” Virgil mumbles, “He’s probably always thinking about him.”
Roman’s stomach drops for his brother, “A boy friend?” (He frowns at the needless separation of the words)
Virgil moans, “Worse.”
“He’s not straight,” Roman mumbles, because at least that much is obvious.
Virgil doesn’t give him a response, so Roman goes deeper. Dante’s thoughts are at odds with his actions, which throws Roman off when he goes to single them out from Virgil’s and the other workers and the small family that was eating across the dining area. Where he comes off as smooth and suave and absolutely sure of himself….
HOLY FUCK BROTHER DOES HOT RUN IN THE FAMILY WHAT THE FUCK--
...His thoughts are not. Roman chases the screaming through the astral plane with mild amusement. Even when the man is cleaning dishes in the back or checking bread or pacing the back, his thoughts are shouting with panic and he keeps coming back to the snapshot of Virgil at the counter. There’s fragments of emotions with it too, amusement, happiness, self embarrassment, as if he can’t believe he really called Virgil a Raccoon and Virgil let him.
Honestly with how much Virgil comes up in his mind, Roman can’t see why his brother isn't launching himself over the counter and dragging the sandwich maker to the freezer for an impromptu make out session.
Or at least he couldn’t.
Then Dante’s thoughts take a leap to the cook time on the last batch of bread, and then the clock, and then the current time and then--
“Dad!”
Roman’s head jerks as he lets go of the isolated thought process and comes back to reality. Virgil does not look up but half his sandwich is gone. Its looks very much like Virgil is throwing himself a pity party while Dante rounds the counter to catch a small child in a hug.
Its undeniably adorable. Roman’s own heart is melting at the sight. The kid can only be four at max, and he’s wearing a backpack almost as big as he is, with a spiderman theme. When the kid talks, he prattles on, and Dante listens to each word with adoration in his eyes.
“So he has got a kid,” Roman comments. He taps Virgil’s foot under the table, “Don’t tell me a kid is a turn off.”
“Roman, you know how I am with kids,” Virgil says. “I’m worse with kids than I am with adults! Which is saying something! The last living person I talked casually to called me a freak and threw a kickball at my face.”
“That was middle school, Miserable Mortuary.” Roman points out, and taps Virgil's foot again, “And if you remember, I beat the snot out of Alfred Hitchcockopolous for saying that. Not to mention, we are talking right this second.”
Virgil grunts sullenly, “Whatever. I’m still bad with kids. I give off that dark energy aura, remember? Give it an hour and Thomas will be running for the hills! There’s no way I could court his dad if he hates me. I’m not gonna drive that wedge between them.”
“You don’t know that yet! Have you talked to this Thomas?”
“And get labeled as a pedophile? No way, not happening.”
“Virgil,” Roman says pointedly (and taps Virgil's foot again), “I’m not saying approach the kid and offer him a joy ride in your crappy used silver Scion. You don’t have to even wait until Dante is out of earshot. Ask him about his favorite color.”
Virgil makes a rather pathetic noise in response. “It’s Dee. He hates being called Dante.”
Roman glances back at Dante the sandwich maker and Thomas the kid. Dante was getting him set up at a table by the counter where he could color in a cheap Star Wars coloring book. He hadn’t come in with anyone. Which was odd. It wasn’t like anyone would let a four year old ride the buses around town either. But surely if there was another parent in the mix they would have at least come in to see that Dante had received the kid, right?
Roman chews on his sandwich for a moment. His eyes are narrowed at his brother as the melody of thoughts roll over him. He’s seeing, feeling glimpses of something else from his brother something that’s making him even more upset than the whole Dad issue.
“What is it?” Roman says, because he’s terribly impatient for his brothers cryptic dance around thoughts.
“You know how I was busy last night?”
“Summoning the dead on a Tuesday?” Roman nods three times.
“Yeah,” Virgil says and drops his head again like a moody teenager. “Yeah that.”
Roman gets flashes of flash night from Virgil’s point of view: Patton kneeling beside him, McDonalds kids meals, too many melted candles, too many slight variations to the chalk circle, a long night. There’s an unsatisfied tinged to them, an unhappiness, a frustration and a nervousness.
It takes Roman a moment to work out what it means.
“Oh,” Roman says, “oh no.”
“Yeah,” Virgil bounces his head on his arms staring into his lap, “Thomas’s mother, Dee’s girlfriend, died in childbirth.”
The sandwich tastes foul in Romans mouth. Too much mayo and bad feelings from it. Virgil stuffs a chip in his mouth and crunches on it sadly.
Overall, it's not how Roman was expecting the lunch out to go.
"It's been four years though, right?" Roman tries, because even if Virgil and him give each other grief all the time, he never wants to see his brother unhappy. "He's definitely in to you, Vee. I have proof. He's moved on."
"That's not the issue," Virgil whines. His eyes flick over Romans shoulder where there's absolutely nothing there, which means that Patton the ghost is witnessing this exchange at least. "Ghosts are tricky businesses. For all I know, me dating Dee will cause a tremor in the afterlife and will bring a vengeful ghost down on the three of us."
"Isn't that an extremely rare occurrence?" Roman says.
Virgil huffs glaring to the side, "Not helping, Pat. And to answer your question, Ro, it is a rare occurrence. But I'm also a magical fucking beacon of dark energy that draws ghosts to myself. Do you really think that the odds are in my favor for this one?"
Roman squints at his brother, "Yes, I do? That is why I'm telling you to go talk to the kid?"
"I'm not going to talk to the kid," Virgil says stubbornly, "Not until I know I'm not gonna endanger him or Dee or… myself." He rubs the insides of his arms, and Roman gets flashes of an emergency room and his own fist in the walls. Neither of them say anything for a moment, and from the glassy look in Virgil's eyes, Patton chooses to be quiet too.
Then Virgil shakes his head and wards off the thoughts. "It's fine. Or whatever. Patton and I are going to do some deep research and I'll find a way to contact Marissa. If she gives me permission, I'll go ahead and talk to Dee again."
He wraps up the rest of his sandwich neatly and leans back in his chair facing the counter where Dante is replacing the produce selection. As if sensing him watching Dante's head tilts up and he winks towards Virgil with another snake like flick of his tongue piercing.
Virgil goes red in the face and stands up. "You know what, I'll be outside!"
Roman catches a glimpse of a dopey, stupid, lovesick smile on his brothers face and cant believe that hes not in a Hallmark movie. Really it's insulting now. This is drama gold and no ones even writing it down.
Dante frowns as Virgil flees the scene, and head to the back again with the clear intention to mope in his thoughts. Roman is left alone at a table, with half a sandwich. Which is fine! All fine!
Roman packs up their combined trash and saves the second half of Virgil's sandwich before he gets up and strolls across the restaurant to the trashcan near where Thomas is sitting. Once he throws his stuff away he stops by the table where the kid is sitting.
"Oh my lord!" Roman says, "Look at this magnificent art work! The colors, the lines, the texture! How very bold! Tell me artist, are you the one who crafted such intricate works?"
Thomas grins up at him bursting with joviality. "I am, mister! Who are you?"
"My name's Roman Prince, young artist!" Roman says, "I am trying to solve a problem that I think you can help me with."
"Me?" Thomas says, "What is it?"
Roman thinks that this kid would be very easy to kidnap.
"Well you see, my brother comes here quite often and he thinks your dad is very super nice." Roman explains the best he can, "He wants to be your dad's friend but my brother is very shy around people."
Thomas taps a red crayon to his lip, "He's that scary man that was over there, right? Dad talks about him a lot."
Roman smiles, "My brother talks about your dad a lot, too!" It's a lie, but really it's for a good cause. "I want them to be friends because they seem very happy together. How about I write down my brothers phone number and you give it to your dad for me?"
Thomas nods easily at the words, and then excitedly, "Then they can set up a playdate! Even if Mr. Purple is really scary, I think he makes dad laugh a lot. And Uncle Emile says laughing is good!"
Roman laughs at that. He scribbles out the numbers for Virgil's personal phone in red crayon on a napkin and gives Thomas a fist bump for teamwork. By the time Dante appears in the front again (with a cloud of suspicion and terror that a stranger is near his son) Roman gives him a cheery wave goodbye and is out the door.
(Virgil is lying in the middle of the parking lot just behind his car and asks Roman to run him over and put him out of his misery.)
(Roman does not run him over.)
(It does take twelve minutes to convince his hopeless brother to get off the asphalt and into the car for the ride back to Virgil's apartment.)

A request "Missing You" by John Waite with Duncan Shepherd? Maybe the song reminds him of his ex and the really bad heart brake he went through , sees her in a public place while he waits for his wife. He's now a happy married man and makes sure his knows. Please and thank you!
So I had a huge dilemma over whether to make the reader his ex or his wife... I hope I’ve made the right decision! Also this is an amazing song, I’ve heard it all my life but never knew who it was by so thank you for that! 🖤🖤🖤

Duncan Shepherd wasn’t one for eye contact with strangers.
It wasn’t that he had anything to hide, he just preferred not to make any form of interaction with the people of DC. If someone spotted him and grilled him about the app outside a downtown branch of McDonald’s, he’d never live it down in his family’s social circle.
After an arduous day in the office, Duncan called his shift to an early end as he raced from the Shepherd Freedom Foundation headquarters to his wife’s favourite store to surprise her. Waiting outside the glass doors, he idly glanced into shop windows just to avoid looking like an impatient husband waiting outside a department store, faintly listening to the nostalgic tunes booming through the doors.
Every time I think of you
On the rare occasion his head lifted to catch someone’s eye, his eyes fell upon hers.
His heart dropped like a stone.
I always catch my breath
Diverting his gaze away from her as quickly as possible, his breath hitched in his throat.
The girl that broke his heart was waiting outside the next store. The blonde-haired, green-eyed siren that lured him to his downfall a matter of years before. The Medusa of his past, the person who made him feel as if he had turned to stone. That is, until he met his wife. His beautiful, loving wife that showed him how to live again.
And I'm still standing here
Fidgeting his fingers nervously, Duncan’s palms started to sweat under the pressure of her glance as she continued to look in his direction. He panicked, reaching into his pocket for a pack of cigarettes and sparked up with a shaking hand.
And you're miles away
Venturing to look back as he drew a toke, he clocked the rest of her appearance. She looked just the same as the day he threw her out. She wore the same vacuous smile, the grin that concealed a multitude of unfaithful encounters.
And I'm wondering why you left
It would have hurt less if she’d changed. Dyed her hair. Worn more makeup. Dressed differently. Held herself differently.
It would have hurt less if she didn’t still live in DC.
And there's a storm that's raging
The years he spent forgetting her flew straight out of the nearest window the second those eyes stared back at him. The same eyes he used to gaze into while making love to her. The same eyes that swore she wouldn’t cheat on him. The same eyes that remained emotionless as he lay shattered on the kitchen floor, reeling after finding countless texts from her other lover.
Through my frozen heart tonight
“What are the chances of seeing you here?” A familiar voice startled him from his day-nightmare, spinning on his heels to see those same eyes right next to him. “Still smoking, Dunc?”
A shiver vibrated through his very soul at the use of his old nickname. The name she used whenever she’d committed her another indiscretion and needed his forgiveness to get through the day. The name she used when she answered his calls while screwing her side dick.
I hear your name in certain circles
Duncan froze. The ultimatum between exuding agonising politeness and spitting vitriol at point-blank range tore away at his insides. There really was no backing out of the situation now, no shaking her off and running in the opposite direction, no pretending she had mistaken him for someone else.
And it always makes me smile
“Hmm?” He hummed back, low enough in the hope she hadn’t heard him. “Oh, hi.”
“You’re miles away, honeybee.” Another pet name that surged bile up to his throat. “How’ve you been?”
I spend my time thinking about you
Her voice grated more now than ever before. Duncan swallowed hard, hand firing up to yank at his tie as if he was choking on the starched collar.
And it's almost driving me wild
“Ye—yeah, I’m fine,” he stammered weakly, eyes widening as he realised the implication of such a poor reply. Dismissing it with a curt shake of his head, he charged in with a second attempt. “Actually I’m great! And you?”
And that's my heart that's breaking
“Oh,” she sounded downhearted at the confidence in Duncan’s voice. “That’s great to hear,” she lied. “I’m okay,” she lied again. “What brings you out of the office so early?”
Down this long distance line tonight
“I’m meeting my wife as it happens,” he shrugged up his sleeve to check his watch. “She should be here any time now.”
I ain't missing you at all
“Oh right,” she nervously shuffled her feet. “I remember seeing her on the news, she’s beautiful. You’re punching, Dunc!”
Bitch.
“Too right I am,” Duncan cocked an eyebrow at the malice laced between her words, the loaded emotion weaving amongst the syllables taunting him into retaliation. He raised his cigarette for a long, awkward intake to busy himself.
Since you've been gone away
Would asking her about her life come across as if he was genuinely interested? He wasn’t, not by any means, but the silence between them was deafening Duncan to the point he would’ve rathered the ground swallow him whole. Scratching his stubble to occupy his shaking hands, he tripped over every word that came tumbling from his lips.
I ain't missing you
“Are... are you still working over in—“
No matter what my friends say
“Oh hell no,” she dismissed, waving gesticulating hands in the space before her. “I gave that up a long time ago. I’m applying for an internship at the White House right now.”
As if this conversation couldn’t get more painful for Duncan, whose cigarette in one hand neared its end and whose other hand brushed uneasily through his brunette curls.
There's a message in the wild
“That, that should be interesting,” he raised his eyebrows feigning interest.
“Yeah,” she sighed, rinsing her hands in front of her. “Listen, I’m really sorry about how things ended between us—“
And I'm sending you this signal tonight
“Baby!” You cried out as you swung open the store doors, wrapping your arms around Duncan as your shopping bags swung around his waist. “What’re you doing here, Mr Shepherd? You’re out early!”
You don't know how desperate I've become
“Of course, I figured I’d give a late night in Guantanamo Bay a miss so I could spend it with my beautiful wife instead.” Duncan leaned in to press a haunting kiss on your lips. As you pulled away, you caught a glimpse of a woman stood beside your husband.
And it looks like I'm losing this fight
“Oh I’m sorry darling, you’ve got company! I’m Y/N, it’s nice to meet you!”
Your words poured sincere and heartfelt through your genuine smile as every word ever did. Even though you knew perfectly well who the woman was, you gave her the benefit of the doubt and offered her a chance to dispel your apprehensions.
In your world I have no meaning
“I’m Genevieve—Genny,” she half-shrieked, her ear-piercing high pitch indicative of a crippling insecurity at meeting her ex’s new love. “It’s great to meet you, Dunc’s an old friend of mine.”
Two lies in one sentence, Duncan thought, this sounds much more like Genevieve.
Though I'm trying hard to understand
“Oh that’s wonderful,” you smiled warmly. “How did you two meet?”
The answer wasn’t important to you in the slightest; you had no reason to distrust your husband, you simply needed something to break the ice between you.
And it's my heart that's breaking
“Oh yeah, we met at college—“
“Yeah, college,” Duncan nodded, brushing the back of his neck and staring at the ground in the vain hope the discussion would end there.
Down this long distance line tonight
A stony silence fell between the trio, clawing for new ice-breaking avenues to pursue but finding zero in common except for Duncan Shepherd. No sooner had Genevieve scanned around the three of them for conversation starters, she noticed the subtle wording and colour coding on your shopping bags.
But I ain't missing you at all
“Any—anyway,” she stammered, shaking her own shopping bags demonstrably. “I better get home and drop these off!”
Since you've been gone away
“Sure, we better head back too,” Duncan nodded, hands shoved in his pockets to avoid a farewell embrace at all costs.
I ain't missing you
“It’s been wonderful to see you again, Dunc, and to meet you, Y/N.” Genevieve’s words poured from her mouth faster than she could process them. Waving a hand out to Duncan, she smiled awkwardly. “Let me know when you’re next free, we could go for a coffee and a catch-up? That’s if you’re not too busy with the Shepherd Freedom Foundation, though.”
No matter what I might say
“Sure, sure,” Duncan spluttered, shrugging and staring at the gleaming tiles beneath his boots.
“Have a great day, won’t you?” She grinned, spinning on her heels and pacing hurriedly away into the crowd.
And there's a message that I'm sending out
“Well fuck,” Duncan huffed as soon as she left earshot. “I’m so sorry about that.”
Like a telegraph to your soul
“You’ve got nothing to be sorry for, baby,” you sighed comfortingly, looping your free arm into the crook of his. “We all have a past, it’s nothing to be ashamed of.”
And if I can't bridge this distance
“That one certainly is. Anyway,” he dismissed with a waving hand, gazing down at your bags. “What’s the Shepherd dynasty been funding this time?”
Stop this heartbreak overload
“I—er...” you stuttered, trying to conceal one specific shopping bag from his view but failing.
'Cause I ain't missing you at all
Duncan ventured a hand toward the baby blue carrier, holding it out in front of him to read the word etched in powder pink bubble print. Duncan read the brand name aloud.
“Maternity And Beyond?”
Since you've been gone away
You drew your bottom lip between your teeth, clenching until you felt your blood rushing to the impact.
“Look, Duncan, I can explain—“
I ain't missing you
“Are you?”
“I didn’t want you to find out this way, I was going to wait until you got home.” You reached into the bag and pulled out a baby sleepsuit, personalised on the back with the words Little Shepherd.
No matter what I might say
You scanned Duncan’s face for a response, terrified he would instantly overanalyse and worry himself about the situation. The conversation on starting your family together hadn’t been raised in months, he’d been so busy with the app and you had your own career to think about. For all you knew, he could storm away into the nearest surging crowd and never be seen again, that wasn’t beyond the realms of possibility with a panicking Shepherd.
I ain't missing you, no way
Once he picked up his jaw from the floor, Duncan scooped you up in his arms and span you around in a circle, shopping bags swirling wildly around you as he held you close.
“Duncan, be careful, the baby!” You chuckled as he suddenly dropped you back to your feet and resorted to holding you by the waist, dipping gentle kisses into the nape of your neck and onto your hair.
Since you've been gone away
“You’re really pregnant?” Duncan beamed from ear to ear, planting feverish, grateful pecks all over his beautiful wife as she giggled into his touch.
I ain’t missing you
Across the street, Genevieve watched her ex drop to his knees and plant a loving, haunting kiss on your abdomen.
Duncan was not missing her at all.
