Haibara's your biggest sweetheart. There's never a day that goes by where he doesn't show you that he’s constantly thinking about you by surprising you with the little things. He wants to make your day just a bit brighter — like when he picks up lunch for the both of you and tucks a daisy behind your ear before digging in, leaves you a sweet note for the early mornings he's not able to wake up with you, gives your hand a small squeeze every so often to let you know you're both actively holding hands and he couldn't be happier.

He's such an honest and straightforward person that he has a way of loving you loudly even before you both started dating. Not even his playful and teasing senpais (Gojo and Geto) can make him feel embarrassed about his feelings for you and instead Haibara openly admits it with a huge grin on his face. Which is no fun to them, namely a white-haired menace. However, there's always a touch of blush on his cheeks whenever he has to face you with these vulnerable feelings of his since you have this effect on him that makes his heart quicken and he hopes you feel the same way with every touch, every kiss, every I love you.

With that being said, you never have to worry about Haibara being swooped away by someone else because he can recognize when "friendly" gestures and words are crossing boundaries where he can pick up on you feeling uncomfortable. Yes, he's generally an optimistic guy and sees the good in others but being with you almost everyday he can sense even your most subtle mood shifts. And he knows just how to involve you as "my girlfriend" into the conversation to shut down their advances in the most polite way that reassures his feelings for you. Not a moment later, he intertwines your fingers and kisses your knuckles to lift your spirits.

Haibara doesn't seem like he would be amazing at planning dates, but the activities and the hole-in-the-wall eatery he had in store for the evening really surprised you with how it's aligned to your interests and things you've been meaning to do. Of course Haibara pays attention to you, he always does. And only if you knew how Nanami has to keep hearing your name come out of his mouth for the umpteenth time when they're on missions together, "Oh, Y/n would love this." "This would be perfect for Y/n!" when something catches his eyes that you might like.

I have very complicated feelings for the Vengeance Saga (after the first listen)

Disclaimer: I will only criticize Epic the Vengeance Saga as a work on its own, not for its inaccuracy or deviation from mythology and The Odyssey. There are more knowledgable people who can point out and analyze the changes in Epic the Musical, but that is not what I'll be tackling here.

To put it bluntly, I'm not being angsty about it as I should. The whole saga just... didn't feel right with me.

Now, first off all, I'm a big fan of Epic and had been following it since the Cyclops saga (first version). I've been in love with many songs and hyperfixed it for months on end. But when the Vengeance saga came along, I didn't feel that same bubbling love rise in me.

Even as a fan, this isn't my first time having peeves with Epic. I didn't jam with the re-release sagas for a while, I'm underwhelmed with the Circe VS Odysseus fight and other issues, very unpopular opinion but "Monster" wasn't too impactful to me, and also the God Games (especially Zeus' attack).

The Vengeance Saga though? Well, they say we gotta do the Bun-Meat-Bun (or whatever the hell its name really is) technique when giving criticism, so I'll start with the good parts.

I love that Odysseus looked so done with Calypso in "Not Sorry For Loving You". They're basically this meme:

Then Odysseus starts singing the reprise for "Full Speed Ahead" but there's no one to back him up. That one hits me hard. To whoever on Tumblr said that after the Thunder Saga we will never hear the crew's back-up again and Odysseus' singing will be answered with silence, Apollo really blessed you with the red ball.

Hermes and the Winions' part was really cool too! I really like them being mischievous helper! The warning about the wind bag and the changing scene of Odysseus fighting off sea monsters while Hermes just vibing with the beats is 👌👌👌

But after that the hype started to sizzle out for me. You might want to skip this part if you're not comfortable with harsh criticism because I WON'T hold back.

It's really backward but I like the Odysseus VS Charybdis draft more than the final production. Charybdis' roars and music are somehow less intimidating, which is a shame because I thought this would be one of the biggest struggles Odysseus will face. Even with awesome illustrative animatics, the scene wasn't as thrilling as I've expected.

The other songs got massive improvement from its draft version (on top of my mind I can think of "Thunder Bringer", "There Are Other Ways", "Little Wolf"), but I don't get why "Charybdis" didn't get up-graded as much like them. It's like a cake that was throughly baked but half decorated and it just didn't taste as good as I've hoped.

Then we have the Odysseus VS Poseidon part in "Get In The Water" and "Six Hundred Strikes". The first thought I had for GITW is this song sounds like all the draft snippets were mashed together without a smooth transition/connection between them. Jorge and Steven's performance is great, but there's not enough tension for me to dread for Odysseus. When Poseidon first met Odysseus in "Ruthlessness", the whole opening was terrifyingly good! And we didn't even have any illustration animatic back then! (that's not to say the GITW animatics were bad, they just can't salvage much when the song itself was already weak)

I wasn't impressed with Poseidon's Shatter The Ocean move either. It's supposed to be the Strongest AttackTM but it's less scary than when he and the Laestrygonians destroyed Odysseus' eleven ships with probably 1% of their power. It didn't even help when Poseidon looked like he's having a seizure with lights pouring out of his eyes and mouth during the transformation.

Odysseus being literally on the brink of death with the souls of his loved ones pulling him into the abyss is a gem in the rough, but because we've seen Odysseus almost drowning before in the end of the Thunder Saga, it's not as shocking as it should be. Furthermore, Poseidon could have instant-killed Odysseus right then and there but didn't really annoyed me. But I guess he just wanted Odysseus to slowly suffer while dying.

Right when I thought the progress will get better, it... gets down. I can go with Odysseus using wind to escape the water, but him wearing it like a jetpack is so comical it ruined the drastic of the situation. And I'm officially let down when Odysseus FUCKING ATTACKED Poseidon in "Six Hundred Strike".

What? Just... why with that choice?

Look, I'm not gonna fault Epic for making creative liberties from the source material (as said in the disclaimer), but I will criticize if that change contradict itself in the transformative work. And this is one of them.

Poseidon and the gods have been proven time and time again in the musical just how powerful they are. Their ominous and grandiose entrances, them striking fear and inferiority in our hearts just by singing. Even Circe, a low-level goddess, poses a constant threat to the crew and Odysseus had to get help from Hermes just to get a chance to corner her (and Hermes even joked that he can still die!)

Poseidon easily destroyed almost all of Odysseus' fleet. Odysseus was very avoidant of him, opting to go to the literal Underworld to find instruction on how to dodge him and sailing through Scylla's lair + willing to sacrifice six men for safe passage. And when Poseidon said he can drown all of Ithaca, it's not just bluffing, he would and could have done that. Yeah, the King of the Sea is THAT BIG of a threat.

So no, Odysseus isn't cool to attack Poseidon, he's being stupid. I'm not even cheering for him the whole time he fight, just groaning at how ridiculous the whole thing is. If Epic is more believable and sticks to WHAT IT HAD ESTABLISHED BEFORE, having a sudden burst of anger and choosing ruthlessness won't save Odysseus from one swipe of Poseidon's trident. Odysseus stood no chance against one of the most powerful deity, even if he's the protagonist and love his family.

Not only that, Poseidon didn't even defend himself and was wounded by a mere human! And he just sat there and took all the blows and insults from Odysseus??? And he actually begged Odysseus to stop and agree to quell the storm to let him get home??? I'm not buy that bullshit. I'm more upset that a literal Olympian god was nerfed down than Odysseus having a Gary Stu moment. Give me a break, that try-hard moment to be cool and edgy just show how badly written the scene is.

What's the fucking point of hyping up how dangerous the gods are if a human can take one down? Tell me this isn't some Wattpad-y Greek myth retelling fanfic where the teenage Y/N sass her way to defeat an entire pantheon. Epic really traded its opportunity to be better for some cheap and out-of-the-blue dramas in this saga, dare I say it's even worse than Zeus' OOC attack on Athena. I'm very disappointed with that decision.

On an end note, the saga did have one saving point with the "After everything you've done, how will you sleep at night?" - "Next to my wife" lines. Odysseus knew he could be the most horrendous man ever and Penelope would still choose his side, that just show how powerful their love and faith in each other are.

But not enough to excuse all the terrible cinematic choices.

I think he'd be a very routine oriented caregiver, has a strict schedule for the times when he feeds you, your nap time, playtime, bed time, etc.

As a captain, I feel like he's also very good at discipline, in both teaching you self control and manners, and also appropriately giving you time outs whenever he feels you need them (but don't worry, he's never cruel with you!)

Loves to carry you on his shoulders! He's a very tall cyborg man though, so if you have a fear of heights or don't really like being carried, he'll always compromise with just simply holding your hand so he knows you're nearby.

Speaking of, I feel like he's very protective of you and always concerned about your safety, he..can't exactly trust the city to be a completely safe place for a little one like you, though he dreams of one day being able to make it so…

He builds you little mechanical toys! The shelves in your playroom at Barraca mansion would be lined with all kinds of cool action figures and little wind-up toys! (you get the latest 1010 figurines before the public does)

Oh, forgot to mention but all of the 1010 members are practically your older brother figures, they absolutely adore you and are tasked with watching you and making sure you adhere to your schedule when Neon J is busy with matters regarding NSR. (I may write hcs for 1010 in the future…)

He'll absolutely teach you to dance! He's significantly more patient with you than he is with 1010 admittedly…but the main difference between you and them is you're not responsible for providing the city with power! So teaching you to dance during his free time is significantly less stressful on his shoulders. 

Calls you his "little sailor" and his "smallest cadet" 💚

Might dress you up in a sailor outfit with a similar style to 1010 as well, then coo over how adorable you look! 

Admittedly…a lot of his robotic body parts make cuddling not really the best experience but! If you tolerate the hard metal of his limbs as he lays you against his chest, you'll be able to hear a mixture of robotic systems whirring and a steady but strong heartbeat that lulls you to sleep.

He'd absolutely sing you to sleep if you wanted, though it might sound a little silly since his singing voice is autotuned..

Making stuff for Sayaka is very fun, haha. Working with all her blue colors is such a treat. I tried to capture both her noble side with her goofy side, but you might be able to tell. Homura is my only muse, but I still have urges to make stuff for other muses... So, I'm always looking to give gifts.

Anyway, I tried to make some of the dash icons to match your specific color scheme. It was tricky, but still a fun challenge. I also had to include some Halloween-ish icons because I'm too excited since October is such a great month.

I've talked a fair amount about how byan has been bullied and hurt by teachers in the past (& how they'd hit their limit and seek drastic revenge, in some cases), but I've never really talked much about how byan has also bullied and outright tormented teachers for themself... like yeah, it's definitely because they don't trust teachers or authority figures in general due to their past experiences, but that doesn't mean that their 9th grade math teacher deserved to feel afraid for his own safety or that their 10th grade biology teacher should have been so stressed that she retired early. byan has been done dirty by a lot of people in their life but they've also been a genuine menace to others who gave them no real reason to be, and they have taken enjoyment in it in a lot of cases.

As an adeptus, Xiao rarely ever sleeps. So I imagine he is simply staying by her side after she subconsciously called his name while being haunted by a terrible nightmare.

Lumine would try to convince that she is fine and that it was just a bad dream but he is not having any of it.

Especially since she was literally in tears when he arrived. (And Xiao knows better than anyone that mental or emotional pain can be just as bad if not worse than physical pain)

She might ask Xiao to tell a story from his past, since he has been alive for so long, he sure has many interesting tales to tell. uwu (This depends on which dub you play the game in but Xiao's Chinese VA has such a soothing voice. ;w; There's this video of him reading Xiao's birthday letter and UGH. I can't. Imagine this voice talking to you as you fall asleep???)

Once she has fallen back asleep, he might gently pat her head. Of course, he would never admit it, haha.

When she wakes up in the morning, Xiao would be gone, but she will find a couple of Qingxin flowers on her pillow. uwu

Lumine introduces her to the concept of 'a slumber party' -- and with party it's really just the two of them haha.

Ei has never worn a modern-day pajamas in her whole life so she's very much confused by the concept at first. (Lumine gets them matching ones >3)

They try out different hairstyles together, eat a bunch of sweets and they might even gossip a little. <u<

Ei tells stories about the past while Lumine fills her in on how much has changed in Inazuma (and the other regions) while she kept herself isolated.

The night ends with a pillow fight but Ei takes it a bit too seriously and no pillow makes it out in one piece. (the whole room covered in feathers xD)

Neither of them got much sleep that night but they had fun. uwu
