stan having severe issues from his dad and those years of being homeless that we keep on getting more info on but never really getting confronted on (the drifter catalogue and tijuana incident...), him being completely alone for like twenty years when running the shack before soos comes along to the point that 1998 is noted as his low point, and him not really learning about bill+what he did to ford until ages after he killed him if he ever did get the full context

while i think amnesia and everyone seeing him as a hero actually helped with stan's 'i'm a worse version of my brother' thing its still a lingering issue too and we now got him being insecure over his own hands

ford being immediately thrown from 'being tortured by bill' to 'being stuck in the multiverse and being chased by bounty hunters constantly', him fully expecting himself to die when destroying bill, and him only now being safe for the first time in 30 years ....relatively safe, he's still in constant danger because of course he is

idk in the end the series wants them to be happy and they deserve it, its why i wasn't too worried about the book being like 'ooh bill is back!! and the book is haunting ford' thing cos i knew they'll be ok

Justice for Isaac Mendez: Why Heroes? Why Now?

First off you may be wondering: "Why Heroes? Why Now?" Well I'll tell you why...there has been a grave injustice done to one of the most central characters of the series. Yes, series, not first season. I'm a first time watcher, yes, in the year 2024. I need no judgement. It takes me a while to move on from one show obsession to the next. Although, I can't say I'm obsessed with Heroes just yet. There are some questionable moments that just got me thinking: "Do other people feel this way?” “Was Tumblr around in 2006?” “What would everyone's popular opinions have been?” I'm mid-way through Season 4 at the moment and the only thing I can think about when I watch the show is..."Justice for Isaac Mendez". I believe he was a character with such great potential that was never fully realized. And, then when we thought he had a grasp on his abilities he was just written off in the most uncharacteristic way possible. I don’t know about any behind-the-scenes details. Aside from the writers strike during Season 2 which caused a shortened run, 11 episodes as opposed to 20+. But, not knowing what happened on the production side of things, shouldn’t matter. As a viewer of a show I should be able to understand decisions characters made, but there are so many out of pocket moments. It's like the writers don't even know there own characters. The end of Season 1? Made no sense. Because of the writers decisions, they completely pivoted the directions of all the characters and I'd say mostly not for the better. Do I need to voice my opinions on this topic? No. Could I have just left all of my thoughts to ruminate in my head? Sure, but where is the fun in that? I wanted to share these thoughts in hopes of finding others who understand my POV. It would also be great to learn more about other perspectives from viewers of the show. At the end of the day is it that serious? No. But, in a world that is nothing but serious I need a light distraction to escape the actual injustices of the world. So, we’ll focus my energies on just discussing whatever comes to my mind on a certain day. Whether it’s to discuss why Isaac was the most central character in the series, or why his abilities shouldn’t be replicated, or why he would never have tried to shoot Peter or Simone….so many topics to dive into. And, that’s just on Isaac. Matt Parkman…the amount of injustice done to that man…I just feel bad for him at that point. And, why name his wife Janice?Never mind I’ll save that for another post. Peter Petrelli? I'm supposed to route for him, why is he such an inconsistent person? I have more sympathy for Nathan Peterelli and he was supposed to be evil at one point. Don't forget Hiro..."You already bad guy! You are villain - villain!" Don't get me wrong I like the show, Hiro and Ando the best dynamic duo who have the most memorable lines of comic relief. But, even all of there most iconic lines can't cover up all of the odd plot lines and character decisions. I'm not even going to say bad writing. I'm going to say underdeveloped storylines. It's a show with such great potential, but it was botched in my mind. Season 1 was almost perfect to me, but the following seasons just went downhill. It makes me sad. Tim Kring, you had such wonderful ideas. You created this show. It's such an original idea, I was captivated, then I felt like my heart was being toyed with because all the characters I've come to enjoy just started acting out of sorts. But, you probably get the point now. I’ll just be posting my random thoughts as someone who has yet to finish the series, but will be doing so probably in the next few days. More updates to come after.

Let me tell y’all something.. Zac Oyama maybe play characters with low intelligence scores, but he is SO good at pulling threads together and remembering information about the lore and making connections and figuring things out

Gorgug especially has been really great at making connections and asking the right questions. (That’s why the boy increased his intelligence score in sophomore year)

I’m wondering what the implication of the energy attacking Cassandra being the same thing as what Lydia is keeping in her chest? Do we actually know what it was Lydia was fighting with her adventuring party? Will we find out more? Does Lydia use her own rage to keep it subdued or is the energy created by rage (eg Cassandra’s anger at Kristen)?

Fun fact! I saw a picture of cloud wearing Vincent’s cape (kh) before I learned anything else about ff7 and was expecting Vincent to die the entire fucking game

I was pretty sure the whole Cloud outfit in Kh is a nod to his friends that didn’t make it when the world fell into darkness… and then I remember Tifa rolls into Radiant Garden to kick walls and politely ask where Cloud went so maybe I’m wrong.

Though with the KH lore implying that Sephiroth is “the darkness in Cloud’s heart” maybe his more… dramatic outfit is a nod to that… don’t even get me started on the wing and the implications of that I beg

Thoughts about the Veilguard gameplay:

Would have liked to see some companion combat. It mentioned that the command system was locked at that point in the story, but I would’ve appreciated seeing how it works. Can you give orders like ‘go there’ and ‘focus that guy’? Can you set them up with tactics like in Origins? (I miss the tactics menu.)

I noticed Neve got in close a couple of times to do some melee shenanigans, is that a Neve-specific quirk or are we getting some more in depth sexy close quarters mage stuff?

Rook had a limited arrow pool which is fine, I have no issue with that. What I’m wondering is if rogues as a class will have less reliance on the bow? Or will it be possible to spec further into that? How does it work for Varric and Harding who are archer based? Will there be a dedicated archer class? Can I play bow and arrow main weapon is my question.

I would’ve liked to see more of the magic system. What kinda spells and spell classes will we have this time around? Neve seems very ice-centric, which is neat, but can I cast fireball? Chain lightning? Can I spec someone into the dedicated spirit healer? Is shapeshifting coming back? What about blood magic? We’re in Tevinter please give me blood magic.

What ARE the classes going to be and how will the system work? Is it locked in from the start? Do we have a bit more flexibility with it? Can I respec skill points? Are there class masteries?

How does equipping weapons work? Can you have a main loadout and swap to a secondary loadout like in Origins? Do weapons come in sets, or can I mix and match this sword with this offhand weapon? Am I locked to certain weapons? Are there any cross class things going on? That rogue Rook we saw, is that bow an ability or a weapon he can swap out? How does it work?

How does companion levelling work? Can I spec Harding into daggers? Like how in Origins you could take a perfectly good dagger-wielding rogue in Zevran and say ‘here’s a bow, shoot stuff’ can I do that again? Or are classes more locked down?

Will I be able to see companion health bars (and other statuses) when they’re in my party?

Intrigued by the ‘which companion you take will have consequences’ bit too. ‘Harding will go with you into greater danger’, does that mean… what? Permanent injuries? Relationship status changes? Unique dialogue? If you take a companion into a situation they don’t want will they leave the group? Do companions have the chance for perma death???

Is that dialogue system similar to DA2 and will it have some of the same effect on ambient dialogue?

I don’t think we’ve ever had a romanceable dwarf? Do we get two this time? Harding and Varric? Please??

Is Rook locked to human? I don’t want that. After we finally got to be Qunari in Inquisition, please don’t give us less options now.

The two shapes that rise up behind Solas at the end have some vague resemblance to the Architect and Corypheus, any chance they are some more of the Magisters? Could we get some more lore about the Black City? Especially considering all the differing opinions about whether the Maker lived there or the Old Elven Gods or whatever. Would be nice if it really does have something to do with the taint because I am STILL WAITING to find out if my Warden and the Architect figured something out, and we left someone in the Fade in Inquisition… now is the time okay. Bring it all home.

I know there’s that thing going on about how they want only names and faces Solas doesn’t know, but like… if the Fade is being torn asunder… will Hawke/Alistair/Other Guy make a return? Have the Veiljumpers found them? If there is something about the calling (which I’m hoping given we have a new Warden), will our DAO Warden be making a reappearance? Is this gonna be like… all the old PCs joining the new one to Ultrazord punch Solas in the face?

still thinking about that ep where sisko hyperfixates and goes the full thor heyerdahl IN SPACE! (excellent, perfect ds9 episode premise, spectacular, no notes). specifically I can't stop thinking about dukat at the end greeting them with (sarcastic???) fireworks (IN SPACE! somehow!) when they arrive in the cardassian system. it's such a weird vibe. it's got the feeling of 'and then everybody clapped' or maybe someone's dying dream or another dominion simulation or something, the mood is so odd haha
