I don't know anything about writing for TV shows or TV show production or how one gets into that. And as a rule I find wanton speculation about the choices of actors and writers and producers in their career choices to be weird and parasocial and unhealthy.
HOWEVER
I'm weird and unhealthy about the Locked Tomb so I will just point out that since Tamsyn Muir released Nona the Ninth in 2022, there have been three works released by her.
First: The Unwanted Guest which was printed in the paperback version of Nona the Ninth and was in the form of a stage play.
Second: an episode of the 2024 Tim Miller series Secret Level titled "Spelunky: Tally" was based on a short story by Tamsyn Muir and developed into a teleplay by Tamsyn Muir.
Third: Tamsyn is listed as the writer for an episode of season 4 Love, Death, & Robots titled "For He Can Creep" which is an adaptation of a short story by Siobhan Carroll which is set to come out May 15.
Now, I know the Alectopause is making us all kinda insane so I don't want to stoke any crazy fires. But it does definitely feel like Muir is gaining experience in writing scripts which makes me absolutely feral at the implications.

Loop killed their family
And no. I'm not talking about the cannibalism dream or anything like that. Loop killed their family...and nothing they did in their loops matters.
Because Siffrin's party is distinctly different from Loop's. They wear their faces...but they're wrong, turned on an axis Loop can't understand.
Mirabelle was such a ball of anxiety, every turn she needed to remind verbally herself to calm down, to stay positive.
The Housemaiden is anxious yes but she didn't constantly reaffirm herself, only exploded after the reality of the house finally crashed on her.
Isabeau was an idiot. Jealous over barrels and more than happy to run head first into weird floating water and locked doors without even thinking, and not a care for romance or books.
The Fighter is smart. He hides it, yes, behind the big dumb jock routine, but barely. He cares for romance and literature and is always aware of what's going on around him, even if he pretends not to.
Odile is jaded, quiet and joking but distant. She doesn’t always notice what's going on, more focused on getting to the end than wasting time.
The Researcher is astute to a fault. Always watching, always waiting, always listening...and always kind. Even the sharp words are only laced with laughing gas.
Bonnie is quiet. They're mostly out of the way, here because it's safe and they don't know whatelse they could do to help. They want to help, they just don't know how.
The Kid is loud! The Kid is loud and rambunctious and wants to help even if they can't. They still try. Every step they still try to help, with cooking and items and cheering from the back, they help. Because no one could ever stop them from doing so.
The first version of the party is gone. It doesn't matter what Loop did or did not do during their loops. Their family is gone...because they ate a star and erased reality. And when it all reset, the party met a new Siffrin. And Siffrin...met a new party.

“its not my fault that you hate your dang life!”
…ain’t it though? like. either version of darry you want, he went to college or he didn’t. actually imma do both.
musical, he went to college and dropped out right? okay, so he’s a fresh twenty so he was a sophomore in college, he was in school doing pretty alright i’m sure. he likely had friends and might’ve still even been friends with some kids from high school idk but he comes back to spend his birthday with his family.
or book darry. he didn’t go to college, wasn’t enough money, big woop. life was still pretty alright; he likely had a job to help out might’ve been saving up for school eventually, he still had time to hang out with his own friends, hell he even went skiing with them some winter breaks.
of course this is all musical based but i mentioned the book bc darry still hanging out with his own friends and going out with them is real important. especially considering pony says “he use to have a lot more fun, he hardly ever smiles anymore”. like if i really wanted, from a complete darry standpoint, its so easy to blame pony. “it ain’t my fault you hate your dang life” yes? it is. you were tasked with buying frosting after school that day ponyboy. you forgot to get it. you’re the reason mom and dad had to go across them tracks in the first place.
if pony hadn’t forgotten, if he used his damn head for once, their parents would still be alive. their parents would be alive and darry would be in a situation that does make him hate his life. for all intents and purposes, as much as darry loathes to even think about it, it is kinda ponyboy’s fault that he hates his dang life.

As we know, p2 movie lore goes deep, and there's a small but fun tidbit I've been obsessing over lately.
In 2021, Pete shared on his podcast that he and Patrick "went and saw" the movie Josie and the Pussycats, and were SUPER into the music (which is valid - the soundtrack is an absolute BOP). So into it, in fact, that it influenced them to work with Babyface on IOH:
Tumblr media
Source
However, the movie came out on April 11th, 2001 (source). With FUTCT coming out in 2005 and IOH in 2007...that does not equate to Pete and Patrick being able to "go and see" the movie in a theater.
Therefore, this timeline doesn't make sense (typical)
And I have ~*THEORIES*~ (also typical)
(more p2 brainrot and yapping under the cut)
Let's just get this out of the way now - yes, Pete is notoriously bad with dates and timelines (Mr. "I said I graduated high school in 2005 and my bandmates needed to correct me"). So, it's perfectly reasonable to think that he's just messing up the context and that they just watched this movie together at some point - probably on the bus while touring or something.
I'd argue, though, that Pete is VERY good with distinctly remembering impactful moments and bits that "spoke" to him at the time (Mr. "he was standing there in shorts, socks, and an argyle sweater").
Pete presents this story as him going to the theater with Patrick to see this movie and absolutely geeked out over the music. If that's how he remembers it, that indicates they went and saw it together when it released...in 2001.
This movie.
Tumblr media
While the exact early-FOB timelines are unclear, it's highly probable they had met by the time it released. The movie was also in theaters for 37 weeks, so that provides a HUGE time range (April-December 2001) for this to have happened, and FOB was definitely...something...at that point.
(In my mind, I like to imagine that they went around Patrick's birthday, but I know that's likely the mold talking. In reality, they probably hit it up at the cheap-y theaters...which existed back then...such simpler times...)
If this is the case, then that makes this story even more insane to me. It means that, in 2001, p2 went and saw a movie together and it was so impactful to them that SIX YEARS LATER they maneuvered their success to work with the soundtrack's executive producer for their own album. What was it about seeing this movie together that it created that lasting of an impact?
I doubt it's the movie itself. It's campy, it's silly, it's fun. Genuinely a Y2K time capsule.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Yes, that's Seth Green.)
And, yes, the music is great! I've been bumping it during my commute recently and it's super fun. However, they've cited SO many other sources of inspiration, and it really is just like...fun pop-punk. It's not wildly different or unique. What was it about this that stuck with them?
I have no other choice but conclude that it's the MEMORY of this event for them that creates the significance of it. Hanging out in the early days, going to see this silly movie together (likely with full intention to make fun of it), and then being so into the music that they end up geeking out together. Thus adding more fuel to the fire of their creative spark and soulmate-ism that was, at the time, likely exciting and scary and confusing and UGH EMOTIONS!!!
I mean, how wouldn't that create a lasting memory you can recall the details of 20 years later?
Patrick has said (and it's also quite obvious) that Pete thinks and relates via movie references. So, of course he's going to remember this. Of course he's going to treasure the memories of hanging 1:1 with his favorite person in the entire world. Of course he's going to use his newfound fame so Patrick can work with the people who have inspired him.
Of course he's going to try and make the dreams they had in 2001 a reality.
"I got dreams of my own, but I want to make yours come true."
