Sorry not sorry, anytime I see someone say Peeta's childhood crush as obessive/creepy, I can tell they're reaching so hard or projecting. Because Peeta's crush on Katniss is literally so normal. He never acts on it until they're placed in a life or death situation and he only weaponizes it as a tool to keep HER alive. Peeta's affection for Katniss, is and has always been unconditional and innocent. It's so ick when people twist it into something it's not to perpetuate their narrative.

When he realizes that Katniss doesn't reciprocate his affections and may feel burdened by his affections, he put so much distance between him and Katniss that she admits to missing him and HE gets criticized by most of the fandom for freezing her out.

He has always been respectful to Katniss’s autonomy and respects her boundaries. Is he overly self-sacrificing and have little self worth? Yes, but in comparison to red flags in a partner, this is barely one at all. He’s not abusive at his own volition. Doesn’t guilt her for not liking him back or continuing their lover’s facade to keep their families safe. His flaw is workable and it’s never something that can harm Katniss physically or mentally (at least for the most part). And this is not to mention that Katniss shares these flaws as well.

At the same time, these examples of his self-sacrificing nature are placed within contexts where once again, Katniss and Peeta are planning to die for each other again. Where Peeta is doing the ruthless calculus of war and knowing in the grand scheme of things, his death will have less repercussions than Katniss’. He doesn’t have people relying on him to live. He’s not the one the rebellion is using as a symbol.

“Oh, but he used to watch her go home everyday-“ no. That’s what the movie said in that abysmal cave scene. Even if that were the case, it’s not like he’s stalking her- they go to the same school?? Some people act and cling to this instance as if he’s following her home and stealing her panties. All he’s ever done is watch her (and saved her life) and guess what??? Katniss was watching him too? She’s been taking sneak peeks at him too (oh, he can lift heavy bags of flour so easy, he came in second in the wrestling tournament. 🤨 Giirrrrrl) so I guess their both creepy and obsessive for each other. Match made in heaven 🤷‍♀️

1.) @tesscourtes' human!Bill is a lil cutie-patootie menace that I very badly wanted to draw, and,

2.) I have a - M I G H T Y - N E E D - for any version of human!Bill to find any way he possibly can to annoy Ford a whole lot :D

Also, 3.) I like to headcanon that Bill's knowledge in The Sciences is mostly limited to 'Ways I Can Make A Really Cool Doomsday Portal', and everything else he knows is just a slapdash mix of the stuff he remembers from whatever schooling he went through on Euclydia, a whole awful lot of lucky guesses (which he WILL gaslight you about if you tell him he's wrong), and - naturally - conning all the rest of the answers he needs out of any more educated saps who are unfortunate enough to be around him at the time (answers which he will then proceed to take credit for), so as far as I'm concerned, this "outfit" is perfect for him.

Ignore the shitty backgrounds, I am sick to death of doing backgrounds, I just want to draw goofy shenanigans, okay???

Here's more of me rambling about Frankenstan aus (and just those where Stan dies and Ford struggles to undo it. The possibilities really are endless here lol) cause they have me in a chokehold.

I'm thinking about the aftermath.. About Ford seeing more clearly than ever that his brother is very vulnerable, that his being alive is anything but a given. And I'm mostly talking about the aus where someone murders Stan or where he ends his own life. Because this would mean that not only would Ford understand that his brother can be harmed, he would also know that there are threats to his brother's life out there, people who want him dead, a world that wouldn't care if he was.

And you know the very much canon part of the brothers' dynamic that defines a lot of who they are and is the reason why their parents are portrayed as neglectful and cold at best, why Shermie is a non-existent character? It's that for the entirety of their childhood they only had each other to rely on. Just the two of them against the world.

And this is what I think would return, especially on Ford's side. Because there he is, constantly around his brother's dead body, breaking every natural law, employing every single possible method that might bring him back. The loneliness and fear creeping in, along with the realization that all of this could've been avoided if he checked on Stanley earlier, reached out, helped him, protected him.

And when Stan's miraculously back, Ford sees it as his second chance that he could never afford to waste. And so he grows protective of him, overly so, ignoring Stan's own thoughts on the matter, because what does it matter when it comes to his safety?So what if this means not letting him go anywhere unsupervised, so that he doesn't get in trouble? So what if neither of them really talk to any other people? There was once a time when they only needed each other to be happy, so what's wrong with bringing that back, right? (A lot. A lot of things are.)

One more thing is their dynamic shifting to be... well, unbalanced, I guess. Because now it's not just two twin brothers, it's Ford who chooses to take care of Stan, has more context of the situation, chose to bring his brother back in the first place, with no consideration of his feelings on the matter. And of course, all of that's out for genuine and incredibly strong love and care, but does it change that his whole behavior is very unfair towards Stan? No it doesn't

Authunity and leftist unity, mainly. There's also some implied libcap, implied rightist unity, and an extremist polycule ending.

Visual novels are a medium so they don't all work in the same way, but in mine it's set up so that you play as a generic player character and you can choose which ships/routes to pursue. That way there's no conflict if I include multiple ship routes (including w/ the player) for the same character.

That being said, if you're not into romance it reads perfectly well as a comedy or even a manifesto.

Deciding to use my hobby of autistically crawling through AO3 tags for good. I'm prioritizing fics with less than 50 kudos. None of these are ship fics, most don't have any romance. All of these are completed one shots, most under 10k words.

Skies, Surfaces, and the Hero Chef That Can't Actually Cook by greatduwangs

Summary: Link's cooking sidequest in Skyward Sword, which goes about as well as you'd expect. Or, the missing ingredient was a home all along, or whatever.

Why I recommend it: 4.5k of Link eating things he shouldn't. Very funny and very cute!

Big Dark by phlyarologist

Summary: Character study of Mido as the events of Ocarina of Time change him, worldbuilding the Kokiri and examining what it means to grow up.

Why I recommend it: Contender for the best LOZ fic I've ever read. Brilliant worldbuilding and characterization, and a fantastic understanding of childhood and its nuances that you rarely see outside of fiction aimed at children.

Summary: Fi gets stuck in a timeloop and is very... well, Fi about it.

Why I recommend it: Excellent Fi characterization that leads to a very funny take on a time loop scenario while still being a serious story.

A Legacy Cast in Stone by sagittamoth

Summary: Pre-Skyward Sword Sheikah worldbuilding following an OC who works with the robots and timeshift stones in the last days before the war.

Why I recommend it: Does a great job with worldbuilding, creating a vibrant world that slots neatly into the greater Skyward Sword canon.

Why I recommend it: Does a brilliant job painting fear and an oppressive atmosphere, with stellar Zelda characterization.

Summary: Two connected snippets of Malon in the adult timeline, meeting Link again.

Why I recommend it: Adorable Link and Malon friendship and great Malon characterization, with very effective hints at what living under Ingo had been like.

Summary: Follows Link through ALTTP, written through the lens of the reincarnation theory with a focus on connection to the wider LOZ series.

Why I recommend it: Author described it as a 'mood piece', which it absolutely is and is very good at. I like the surreal and blurry way reincarnation is portrayed in this fic, and it has a great take on the maidens.

Blind and the Bunny by justAPassingThought

Summary: A character study of Blind the Thief through his defeat in the Thieves’ Hideout Dungeon.

Why I recommend it: Excellent exploration of the Dark World and the way its transformations work, and I really like Blind's view on Link's Dark World form.

Litany of Betrayal by RawLiverAndCigarettes

Summary: A foreign warlord swears fielty to the king of Hyrule. Impa knows what the stranger truly wants. She has seen it before. She can still taste the ash.

Why I recommend it: Fantastic character study of Ganondorf and Impa in Ocarina of Time. Everyone is horrible and I'm thriving. Incorporates Hylia into the OOT canon in a way I find actually interesting. Fascinating worldbuilding in general.

Notes: Prequel to a novel-length fic I have not read (I'm terrible at reading long fics rip).

Why I recommend it: Mipha and Zelda friendship, a fun take on Zora mythology and I always love mortals forging their own paths in worlds where gods are objectively real.

Hunger by Anonymous

Summary: Sequel to Grace, where Zelda struggles to reckon with perceptions out of her control. Link is there to help point out what she's missed. Can be read as standalone.

Why I recommend it: Autistic Zelda, queerplatonic zelink, and a great portrayal of the hunger that comes with trauma.

Notes: Sequel to a fic that is also very good.

Summary: An exploration of the Depths and Hyrule's cosmology.

Why I recommend it: The other contender for 'best LOZ fic I've read'. Astounding atmosphere and worldbuilding, incredibly unique and all-around breathtaking. Lives in my head rent free.

Summary: Character study of Vaati connecting him to Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask.

Why I recommend it: Very weird and unique take on LOZ lore and I'm so incredibly here for that.

Linner (Link Dinner) by waterglider

Summary: An adaptation of one of Zelda's diary entries set after the "Blades of the Yiga" memory. After a very irritating person saves her life, Zelda has developed a theory-- one she plans to test.

Why I recommend it: Zelda is kinda mean and Link is a monarchist bootlicker. I adore this take on pre-Calamity Link, he's genuinely insufferable and I love that. If I ever end up writing pre-Calamity Link I'm so stealing this characterization.

Notes: Sequel to another stellar fic, prequel to an in progress novel-length fanfic that I have not read (again, terrible at reading longer fic).

An EXTREMELY important aspect in Medea and Cullen's relationship, especially early in their enemies stage, is that despite hating each other, they are kind. They are both objectively good people who act on empathy. Yes, their methods might be different, but the goal is still the same for both of them. They want to help people because they care. And people also include each other, even if they originally want to kill each other. For example:

Medea notices the smell of muscle pain ointments from his skin, so she makes sure to find extra of those herbs.

Cullen has seen how Medea's hands shake from the cold as her joints are damaged from physical trauma so he reminds the blacksmiths to make insulated gloves for her.

Medea makes sure to send maps to Cullen with specific locations for lookouts and possible safe areas for soldier and refugees

Sometimes, Cullen has some of the men stationed as supply caches for Medea and co. supplies to add a few more potions and specific herbs Medea likes to use.

Even when they might argue at the dead of night, Medea can see the dark circles under his eyes and will stop the conversation to ask if he's slept enough. He hasn't, so she tucks the issue for another night and takes his paperwork so he can have a good night's rest for once, much to his irritation but also relief.

Cullen knows Medea spends many nights awake as she plans for the next mission, so he always makes sure the kitchen sends her a late night meal, usually a lot of cooked meats and stew cause he knows elven diets are more carnivorous. Medea isn't one to deny food, even if it's from the orders of that man. She will send her thanks, begrudgingly of course

See, enemies know each other well, noticing the little details of each other. It's what you do, right?
