Tangled Fullmetal Au!
TANGLED AU DUMP! ✨
Now I originally reblogged an older blog, but thought that since a lot of people don't usually read the blogs I decided to make this a whole post!
Tumblr media
GIF by gurbets-world
As for tangled Au, of course I have a bit more ideas! Nothing 100% decided, these are the random ideas I have been getting!
Been thinking What job Roy has? Like, is he a thief just like Eaugen? Then the idea of him being an outlaw but helping people came to me- maybe he is just like Robin Hood? Maybe stealing from the rich so he could help the poor ordeal? Maybe he has a teacher’s job + this as a secret gig?
And maybe Roy was married to Riza and they had Al as their son ( undecided if I should make Al their bio or adopt a kid.)
Mayliz mentioned the pan ordeal! And I am 100% with the frying pan! Although I am trying to avoid making fun of Ed’s height ( which I will make a post about as soon as I can.) I can see how Frightened Ed is when he sees a stranger man coming to his tower so he would attack him
Still musing if Ed should have all of his limbs, thinking he shouldn't have either his leg or arm. Maybe the arm so that is why he can't take care of his very long hair, so he needs help with it and I love Roy taking care of Ed’s hair. Maybe he was the one to braid it, just like the tiny Girls did for Punzel!
I think Ed would be so skeptical at first, so scared and stuff. Thinking Van maybe wasn't the best dad, ( honestly, my headcanons have him as an abusive man, which would make Roy’s actions mean a lot whole more to Ed and Al.) still thinking if he was abusive in the Au- but locking a child in a tower is pretty hurtful.
And then there is the last bits where in the movie Mother Gothal when she chained Punzel. Tbh, I think that scene is what inspired the whole au.
For how it happened I am thinking something like this,
So Roy took Ed to his home with his wife and kid and for the first time, Ed experienced what family feels like, a mom’s love, and dad’s love, and a sibling’s love. Homemade meals and beds and soft coverings and other beings around him!
But one night, Ho was able to kidnap Ed from the Mustang household and Roy put 2 and 2 together and used his horse and dashed to the tower and got inside and then
Van stabs Roy as soon as he entered the place.
Exactly what happened in the movie happened there, except I think that Roy was able to kill Ho.
Does that mean Alchem is a thing here? Probably. Maybe that is why Ho kept Ed in a tower? Because Ed is so powerful?
These These are my thoughts so far! What do you guys think? I looked around for my sketches, and can't seem to find the rest, I only found a very BAD doodlish sketch
Tumblr media
Definitely will draw more for this Au, concept customs, and stuff! I just need to push a little more before I have free time hehe

So I'm genuinely concerned
Are we really all gonna just pretend not to like Harry Potter anymore? Because of one terf with a million bad ideas and a superiority complex?
When the fandom has long since denounced her and started making their own fan works and headcanons? The existence of Harriet Porber makes me feel like ???? We don't need to destroy the series just because the creator is a bigoted moron???? Stop me where I'm wrong but I thought the point was to separate art from the artist, and as long as we're not supporting HER, where is the harm?

Nothing sucks more than being really excited for something and it turns out no one cared about it at all. Like they all just shrug their shoulders at something that meant a lot to you and you can't be upset because they don't care.

You know, a lot of people got behind South Park more than other adult cartoons because of its rich characters and occasional heartfelt moments- but revisiting it I've been surprised American Dad actually has a LOT to offer in a similar way. sure, the art style isn't as appealing, and it is often very mean-spirited. but at least early on it often DOES have lessons learned, morals, and positive messages. I was surprised!! and the characters are a lot deeper and more enjoyable to me than many other adult cartoons.

I think its funny that the teens that would go nuts over the fact that mid 20's to 30 year olds were in fandoms. Esp fandoms they were in since they were kids. Are now in their 20's and realizing that they in fact do not have to stop being in fandoms and enjoying stuff. Just because they are growing up Do you have to change how you act? Sure, you are an adult after all. But do you have to stop liking something? Nope So new comers to tumblr. You can be in your mid 20's to 30's and enjoy fandom stuff. Just cause you hit a certain age doesn't mean you have to stop liking it

I always think of that one Community episode where Annie is really unconfortable because she feels pressured to celebrate Christmas and no one is acknowledging her culture, and by the end they put a menorah on a table and apologize for being pushy and that suddenly makes it fine for her to join in because after all it's the spirit of the holiday that matters. I think in that one Abed just joins in but there's another Christmas episode that stars him finding the joy of Christmas despite being canonically Muslim because...his mother was Christian I guess? They make it seem like such a universal cross-cultural thing completely divorced from individual religion (even while definitely being religious for at least one character).
I'm using these examples not to hate on a show I actually love but because they really feel representative of the culturally Christian view of how to be a decent person not into Christmas. You just...get into it. Or celebrate it for everyone else's sake. And I wish more people understood that you can be joyful and loving and completely indifferent to Christmas.
normalize not celebrating xmas. like every single piece of media involving xmas in any way shape or form has everyone celebrating it like no matter their religion they just like do it for the spirit or the holiday or whatever and if they originally don't it ends w them giving in out of consideration and being guilted. like if you love xmas, that's great. i love bubble tea and i love rosh hashanah, but i don't expect everyone to love them or even experience them. it's not sad for me if someone doesn't enjoy them bc i'm not a self obsessed prick who assumes everyone else enjoys and celebrates the same things i do. pls be respectful this year, pls acknowledge xmas IS NOT a secular holiday, please do not other and exclude those who do not celebrate it. and btw this goes beyond inclusive language.
(goyim and christians/atheists can rb and add if you want but do not clown i am begging you)

as a child there's nothing cooler than a kid who gets subjected to evil experiments and gains special abilities. it's even cooler if these abilities also cause unfathomable suffering to use/against others. children love stories like this.

this post is fearmongering. the results of this study are concerning and should definitely be a matter of public discussion, but this is certainly not the conclusion the researchers came to.
the point of the study was to assess the risks of exposure to toxic metals- something one of the co-authors notes are “ubiquitous” fwiw- via menstrual products. Their research confirmed that these metals are indeed present in tampons, but no further conclusions are drawn. it is possible the metal entered into the cotton from the soil, which is a well-known phenomenon; cotton is so good at lifting heavy metals that it has actually been suggested as a part of the solution for revitalizing polluted ground.
the authors conclude with an acknowledgement that the study should be repeated- their sample size was 60 tampons- and a suggestion that further testing ought to be done to indicate whether or not these metals can even leech out of the tampon in the first place, let alone whether or not such leeching could occur at levels deleterious to human health.
there is, in fact, a body of research- too small, for sure, but much larger than this single study- indicating that long-term proper tampon use has no observable negative impact on health. i am grateful and thrilled that more research is being done and i hope that this study is the first of many on this line of questioning, but i am really frustrated at this post and the response it got.
obviously, if this study alters your approach to menstrual health, more power to you. consumers should be informed-risk-takers, and menstrual health is double-obviously a very personal choice. but it definitely wasn't the researchers concluding that you ought to “avoid using tampons at all cost," only this tumblr user did. the lead author of the paper, in fact, specifically says that she hopes people do NOT panic about the results.
(the notes of the post were disappointing. people affirming that they knew they were right to be suspicious of tampons all along, or even recommending alternatives that actually have very little to no research regarding the safety of long-term use, etc. it’s a different conversation, but categorical distrust of tampons is old-school misogyny. you certainly shouldn't wear them if you don’t want to, but there is nothing inherently scary or wrong about them, and people who prefer them are not being reckless or crass.)
((if you're really worried about exposure to heavy metals, you may want to turn a critical eye to fast fashion, as an aside))

Love the contrast between the Americans’ “Apollo” and the Soviets’ “Sputnik.” You got the Americans naming their rocket after a Greek god trying to communicate the grandness and importance of this rocket. And you got the Soviets naming their rocket “fellow traveler.” Like a friend you go on an  adventure with together. This rocket is our little friend lol
