Birthday whump

it’s my birthday today so here’s some birthday-related whump prompts :)

whumpees who have grown up never celebrating a birthday. when they’re finally introduced to the idea by caretaker, they can’t believe it’s a real thing.

whumpees finally being able to celebrate their birthday again after escaping whumper, but having nobody to celebrate with.

whumper being especially cruel to whumpee on their birthday. how would this affect whumpee when caretaker tries to celebrate with them after escaping whumper?

alternatively: whumper being kinder and gentler to whumpee on their birthday. can whumpee truly enjoy it knowing what will come after the day is over? or is it nice just to play pretend for a little while?

whumpees who weren’t allowed to celebrate their birthday, being conditioned to believe that they don’t deserve things like that.

whumpees spoiled on their birthdays by carewhumper, who has an interesting idea of what ‘birthday treats’ are. (bonus points if whumpee loves these treats because it’s all they’ve ever known)

whumpee being completely ignored by whumper on their birthday. the silence and loneliness kills them - they spend the entire day on edge, waiting for something bad to happen. does it?

whumpees who are given a new birthday by whumper. is it the day they were kidnapped/bought? the day the two first met? the day whumper’s obsession began?

those whumpees (or whumpees without birthdays) being given a new birthday by caretaker: the day they were rescued and met their new family.

whumpees who are only allowed to spend holidays and birthdays with whumper. they’re forced to make excuses to friend and family as to why they can’t see them each year.

Was tagged by @theblueeyedfirebender hehe, thanks love for the tag! I was gonna originally post a short series this month for the Comfy-Vember but I realized that I can't pull it off with college work, however, have the last line I wrote for this fic!

moving quietly to the couch where the teen was sleeping, she bent down and fixed the blanket, making sure to tuck him right up to his chin. Her soft hand pulling away the bangs from his face, “ Oh honey…”

(Posting about this again because 1) I'm still absolutely PUMPED that this happened and 2) it was literally two days after this got posted to AO3 that it became temporarily unavailable due to a massive cyber attack - which didn't get fully resolved until just recently.)

One of my Fullmetal / Royai stories, The Art of Living On, was adapted into a podfic by the amazing @klainelynch. It has been the most incredible honor to hear my writing performed aloud by someone with such talent, and I will be listening to this on repeat until the day I die.

I simply can not, will not, ever get over this.
