Riza steadies her shaking hands as she watches them approach. No more hiding above in a silent perch. She’ll have to face the consequences of her actions now, fool that she is.

“Hey!” the other officer says. “Thanks for earlier! You were the one that fired that shot, right?”

“Yes, sir.” Riza rises, her mouth going dry. He stops in the path and stares blankly back at her. “It’s nice to see you again, Mr. Mustang,” she manages around what feels like a mouthful of sand. “Or perhaps I should address you as Major Mustang now.” Still, he doesn’t speak, staring back at her with a slack-jawed expression. She could almost laugh, though the sound would surely come out bitter and hollow. “Do you remember me?”

He lurches slightly forward, then seems to catch himself.

“How could I forget?” he grunts.

His eyes pin her in place, dark and brooding like the night sky.

The other officer slaps Roy on the back familiarly as he takes his leave, but Roy’s gaze doesn’t shift from hers. She can practically see the rage building behind those onyx eyes. After another long moment during which she fights the urge to bite at her already bloodied fingernails, he jerks his head to one side and strides away from her.

She assumes she’s meant to follow, so she does. He leads her right into the field of tents that represents the officers’ quarters and barely checks over his shoulder before lifting the flap of one tent and ushering her inside.

She stands there with sweating palms as he turns to her with a furious stare.

“What the fuck?” She closes her eyes. “Riza, what the actual fuck?”

A sneak peek from my up coming fic!

planning and hoping that I can get this fic out before the 31st of August! Have been working really hard on it and I am so excited! Have a little unedited sneak peek:

“ True. We would need to call the East quarters, let them know that we are dealing with a failed human transmutation, and the alchemist in charge needs to be found.” Mustang’s voice clear and angry, and very different from what it was on earlier after they entered the room. He looked really furious, because any saint person who was talented enough to draw that array would know that this is a bad idea, that this is a taboo.

It didn't take long for mustang’s features to darken more, as If he came to a realization, “ Elric.” the main reason why they came here today, maybe the alchemist he was looking for won't join his team, but he certainaly will send him to jail, “ Let’s head out to the Rockbells, Lieutenant, and see if we can find our alchemist.”

The woman didn't like how the man sounded, and she didn't like how her gut twisted ns her chest tightend when she took a glimpse of one of the pictures on the wall, a pictured tt showed a beautiful young woman with brown hair that looked uncomfortably a lot like the thing she saw in that room, and next to that picture was another that had two young blonde boys.

God no.

“Good,” he says quietly. “Okay. So, we’re alone, just you and me. Nobody else can come in, and there’s lots of light under the desk with us. I’m right next to you. I’m going to put my hand down on the floor, it’s about…three inches from your left boot, okay? If you want to, you can just take my hand. Whenever you’re ready.”

She reaches out immediately and grabs it tightly.

He squeezes back.

“Okay,” he says again. “Okay, Ria. I’m right here.”

He’s not sure how long they sit there. Long enough that his back and knees start to ache. At some point, she starts to slowly inch her way towards him, until finally she’s leaning against him, her head coming to rest on his shoulder.

“Would you like me to put my arm around you?”

She nods, and when he reaches out to touch her shoulder, she folds forward into his arms. One hand fists itself in his t-shirt. Roy tentatively wraps his arm around her back. After a moment, when that seems okay, he rests the other on her head and lightly strokes her hair, pushing her sweaty bangs back from her face.

Slowly, achingly slowly, her shaking stops.
