Anyway as I mentioned before we don't gatekeep art related stuff in this household, artists help other artists.

Honestly it's hard to name an inspo but I do have artists I look up to a lot (this might be a bit long)

Kanisuke, you guys might be familiar with her, she's the artist of the upcoming yandere inside game Yandere Town. I know it's not out yet but I'm actually obsessed with this game and have even translated all the character intros (they are a bit old atp so there might be some mistakes) and actually if you see a Yandere Town related post high chance it's from me. Not only her art but I love her writing style as well.

Hakuri-sensei, their manga Sachi iro no One Room is definitely one of my biggest inspirations. I love the relationship between Sachi and her "captor" and it's the only manga I actually cried my eyes out while reading.

Tayu-sensei, all of their work for Yuugen Romantica (one of my fav drama cd series) are breathtaking and they've also developed even more since then, their current works are just so stunning and I love studying the way they draw hair

Shirahama-sensei, she👏is👏a👏queen👏 honestly I don't have much to say, go read Witch Hat Atelier it's an artistic masterpiece and a giant love letter to art itself

Furumi-sensei, another queen! She's the artist of my favorite Fate Grand Order character Ashiya Douman. I've even bough her art books before, honestly she is just so talented. I don't know what she was drinking when she came up with Douman but I need some of it

Usagi Routo-sense, another fgo artist AND JUST LOOK AT HOW INCREDIBLE THEY ARE AT USING COLORS LIKE??? HOW??? Their art is like cocain for my eyes I could look at them for hours

AU, one more fgo artist and oh my god guys this person right here is one of my biggest inspirations just look at their drawings. I'm not kidding I actually spent hours just inspecting how they shade outfits. I'd sacrifice my soul just to get a chance to watch them draw live

Shibatora-sensei, she is the artist of my FAVORITE drama cd series Shinai naru Thanatos and my overall favorite yandere character from any fiction Seo Eito. Honestly if you know me irl probably the first thing you'd mention about me would be my chronic Shinai naru Thanatos addiction because based on what everyone says I start speaking about it within 2 weeks of meeting someone new.

ORKA, the artist of A Stepmother's Marchen. Anyone who knows that manhwa probably knows why she's on this list, her art has so much soul and passion in it, literally every single panel looks like a painting and it makes me want to cry just looking at it

82 Pigeon, an incredible incredible Korean artist, I think they also give art lessons? I really tried to get them but couldn't figure out how. They also have a youtube channel and I learn a lot just by watching their speedpaints

But I did post like once or twice on my insta but that don't mean nothing. I forgot to share this darn photo I drew a couple months back!

This is sadly one of the last things I've actually "finished" because I was extremely lazy! 😂 Anyways, read below the line for cute little hcs that I came up with for this particular drawing UwU

So my hc is that when the newbies graduate from the Academy, Toph and all the veterans take a picture of them with their name on the board, and take a photo of them.

"This will be the one and only time I want a photo of you! You are police officers, not some thug on the streets! And if I dare hear that any single one of you is arrested, I will be pinning your face everywhere in these halls, offices and entrances. Am I understood!" Toph would yell at the brief and everyone immediately says, "Yes ma'am!"

The rookies all shaking in fear while Lin just smirks and crosses her arms. Thinking that she wouldn't have to do it. "And you Beifong, you're the first up!" Toph would point at her.

"But-" Lin would stutter out.

"No buts missy! Get moving!"

"But chief-" Lin would growl through clenched teeth. "I don't plan to get arrested-"

"Cool it hot stuff, if Kya and Bumi get arrested, it's only a matter of time before you do."

Lin just sighing, walking up to her while they hand her the board with her last name on it.

Toph bragging to everyone that Lin got arrested and starts showing off her photo to everyone and it makes Lin embarrassed but she at least feels loved. Bumi and Kya would cat whistle and compliment her only making her cheeks redder.

But after Tenzin breaks up with her, Lin gets "arrested" and true to their words, Lin's mug shot was all over the place and Lin has never wanted to collapse a building faster 😂

This is the best itager doujinshi ever. Hands down. I've never read anything that has topped this it is literally perfect. It's created by overlord R who's only critical fault is that she ships gerita.. but ngl i think she was just born in the wrong time. You'll see a lot more work by her here and i genuinely think that if she was born in an era that didn't push for uke italy she would've been an itager warrior. shes like how a lot of people who aren't racist in this day and age (thank god) would've TOTALLY been super racist 50 years ago (you know what i mean? sometimes you just can tell when you know somebody). Poor R was born in the wrong generation.

This one is also great but I'd say it's only a tinyyy bit more behind the other two because of the knowledge she is a Gerita believer (it spoils the taste of some bits when you think about it). If you ignore her beliefs though this is a just as high quality of Itager doujin as the other two

What's this?! A doujin that's improperly sorted on [MANGA SCANLATION SITE] under gerita?! This is Itager LOL you can literally see it on the title and on Otaku Republic its labled as itager as well. Although it has fully proper intentions behind it, it's still not nearly as good as R's above doujinshis or my favorite Itager fanartist (who will come up later in the pixiv comic section). This isn't because it's itager of course (im going to fucking kill you if you go "durhhh its worse because its itager since gerita is supreme") NO. It's because this author isn't willing to keep "it" in their pants! This is a shounen ai but there's still too much eroticism for the sake of sexiness rather than humor which takes away from the critical broship aspect of itager! I have nothing against ero (if you know me im SUPER pro-ero) but yaoi is a science! Erotic scenes are like chilli crisp in a doujinshi... YOU MUST USE THEM PROPERLY OR ELSE IT'LL RUIN THE YAOI INSTEAD OF ENHANCING IT! Also there is pruaus jumpscare which ranks it down for me too.

HONORABLE MENTION

I have two Itager doujinshis I bought off Otaku Republic that have never been scanlated before. They are the last of their kind on the website, so I'm too afraid to tear them open for scanlation. I also don't know how to translate Japanese and it probably would be a nightmare to contact the original authors of these doujins since they're so old... but the art looks so good... especially for strawberry sex. I will make a point to put an effort in this over the summer (if I cannot get permission, then I will translate it for myself and you will need to personally contact me to see the translation, out of respect for the original author).

I have no clue where you have gone and I think you probably shipped gerita (another case of being born in the wrong generation perhaps), but you have done an incredible service for our world with your scanlations. this motherfucker is my goat. my on god goat. i think they hate hetalia now or are just average japanese embarassed of their past bc they deleted all their hetalia work and i would literally do anything to put them in a time machine and make them go back to when they liked this shit so i could commission them to make a whole doujinshi with my entire year of part time job pay. Perhaps I'm wrong, since this is all we have left of motsu's legacy in the itager wars, but this is SO freaking itager i think my eyes would start rolling to the back of my skull if i found out they're another gerita victim of the era. because almost everybody else on this motherfucking post is a victim to being born in the wrong generation, but they do have comics and fanarts that show symptoms of their gerita truth aids (and the comic gets really weird or bad suddenly when it kicks in like you can pinpoint it). Motsu has never faltered. And whats even more impressive is that this is absolutely canon. The best itager doujinshi by R is incredible and perfect because it's exactly canon, but I think that motsu takes it a step further by being able to create mundane comics that still have the same level of canon atmosphere. I'll admit that R's best Itager doujin relies on sticking close to things himaruya has already written to keep it standing strong. Motsu doesnt give a single fuck. bro said no pads no helmet no condom we whip out dick out in the wind raw and see who gets pregnent. and it turned out himaruya did because these comics are absolutely perfect they are a true extension of the real webcomic itager which i think i have a SUPER SUPER long way to go until i can get there. (at this point I kind of embrace that my itager is colored in the way my way of writing and humor is, but that is because i draw itager for fun too much these days due to heavy school and work. my career is studying classical #true webcomic himaruya style itager which requires actual skill).

R (corolla):

These above three are very good quality R pixiv comics (going from best (top) to great (bottom))

^ Good tier comic. nothing excellent but nothing bad in its flavor

The below four are itager comics I would consider OK, but they have some form of gerita AIDS that causes it to be a bit unpleasant to eat (to varying degrees, going from OK (top) to what is this gay shit <- derogetory (bottom)). R was born in the wrong generation... and it really starts showing how the environment influenced them to add some really bad components to their version of the ship

To clarify, none of these are absolutely terrible awful "killed my grandma" kind of things. All of these comics compared to the average gerita comic are WONDERFUL. But if we are looking at it alone without the context of the gerita invasion our world is suffering from, these OK-bad tier comics do have key components wrong with them. If anyone is interested I suppose I can make another post annotating what is wrong with these comics, but I feel like that is unnecessary and a bit cruel considering R doesn't seem interested in the ship anymore. Sometimes people live and die in the wrong era, and you must acknowledge their faults, but still be understanding of the situation they were in.

Hakoniwa:

If you've read all the English translated doujins for this ship floating around online, you probably recognize this author and are surprised this is here! Yes, they have a billion jillion gerita doujins and i hate all of them LOL. But this one pixiv comic is the one time they got something right. Hakoniwa seems to have this problem that (aside from gerita... although I think this is a symptom of having gerita aids) they make this ship way too emotional in an angsty sadness manner! I understand that their focus is that they prefer exploring the emotional depth of ships rather than making humorous situations, but they're doing it all wrong! (this isn't even to mention how I think that humor and emotional depth are things that can exist side by side; even complimenting each other if executed properly....) I feel like people get the idea with ships that sadness/angst = depth, which is untrue. emotional components that twist your heart around and bring you to tears can come from sad AND happy things, it just seems to be that it's much harder to execute with happiness. People think angst and fluff are opposite things when really, they're two sides of the same coin, with both of them being done terribly most often LOL. I don't consider myself someone who likes fluff or angst at all actually, because it seems that when people describe something as either of those things, neither of them provoke the feeling im supposed to have. I think that with itager, it has lots of depth in its emotional components, but these components are made of things that make you feel so heartwarmed that you could cry. This comic does not reach that level, but it is for once an emotional comic that Hakoniwa gets RIGHT. This is canon compliant. This is something that would happen. This is ITAGER!

FANFICTION:

There is no good itager fanfiction. There is very few mid ones. maybe one or two OK/almost good ones. but no solid good ones. and this is coming from a guy who spent the last 6 years scouring ao3 and fanfiction dot net. In my opinion, hetalia fandom has this wretched curse that it will uniquely be the only fandom with so much fanfiction with none of it being good. Good hetalia fanfiction does not exist for Itager and Romapru. For other ships maybe, but at least for the two I'm into hell No. Everytime I come back to ao3 it just leaves me upset and unsatisfied like that stripper that i KNOW doesn't actually love me and just wants my money, but I keep coming back hoping shell change her mind. NEWS FLASH! SHE WONT!! SHE JUST NEEDS TO PAY HER BILLS THIS MONTH!

Webcomic Kitayume era. Basically anything before the World Stars serialization. I often reread this era whenever I'm feeling like I want to consume some itager

Hetalia (anime - Studio Deen):

Seasons 1-4 (APH to World Series... in other words before the artstyle changed.) + bits and pieces of beautiful world are good (but some are BAD... LOOKS AT THAT ONE SCENE THEY ADDED THAT I FUCKING HATE).

Bloody Moimoi:

I'm not a bloody moimoi expert, but of course I've read their doujins how could i not. They have pieces of real goodness in them, but basically all of their work is R-18, so of course the gerita aids is too much for my palate to handle. I'll take a closer examination at them if somebody asks me to, but for now I'd say if you haven't read their work yet you should, since during their non R-18 scenes I remember theres some good parts, but the R-18 totally kills my boner *cries*

IN CONCLUSION:

I saw a post on Instagram, well before the Superbowl, that involved Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar's positions in the music industry. Furthermore, it was said that their activism was biased, since they profited a lot from these statements (or manifestos).

I'm a big fan of Beyoncé; even though I'm not 100% into the world of rap, Kendrick is one of my favourites. Maybe what I reflect here comes a little from an opinion built based on my personal taste, but I understand that beyond whether we like their music or not, they have an impact, and that's what I wanted to say.

Two things happened in these two weeks: Beyoncé won the first AOTY of her career with Cowboy Carter and Kendrick Lamar performed at the Superbowl. Let's start with Beyoncé.

Beyoncé has had COUNTLESS valid AOTY albums (ESPECIALLY Lemonade, sorry Adele), and she is the BIGGEST Grammy WINNER IN HISTORY. Like it or hate it, she is THE INDUSTRY. She made it. And she deserves it.

I saw people saying that she didn't deserve it because Billie Eilish deserved more. This always happens, but when people justify this discontent, you hear things like 'lyricism' or 'impact on the charts', which are valid arguments, but when we're talking about Album of the Year, shouldn't we also think about the social impact that this work has? Guys, I loved Billie's album, but it wasn't AOTY material with Cowboy Carter on the way.

CMAs

In 2016, in the midst of promoting Lemonade, she performed with the Dixies at the CMAs. Do you know what happened? In addition to her being boycotted (with her performance excluded from the awards platforms), SEVERAL country artists were visibly uncomfortable with her presence there, singing an AUTHORAL country song, with the, so to speak, 'personas non gratas' of the country industry.

This influenced the acts she is currently doing. Beyoncé, with all the influence she has, could come with the speech of white people who deny the existence of racism or opine on how black people should react to racism with indifference, but she decided to show how people of color have been carrying entertainment and art on their shoulders, and how the boycott at the CMAs only reinforced that 'veiled' r*cist artists were bothered by people of color who claim authorship of their own culture; then, they are a threat.

She made a country album. In references, Linda Martell, Chuck Berry, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and, among other people, black country artists who are new to the scene. Do you know the social impact of this? Do you understand that, no matter how many years pass, Beyoncé will also be remembered for using her influence to raise an issue that she might otherwise have been indifferent about (because she has money, success and people love her), and winning a Grammy for a mostly white and biased genre?

I think my point is clear. I love Billie and I think she's a great artist, but in the current context, in the middle of 2025, there was someone putting uncomfortable things in the light, and that person was Beyoncé.

Now, let's go over Kendrick.

2024 was a year in which he was on the top, among other things, for his beef with Drake. Look, I'm not even going to get into the merits of the diss, I never liked Drake (Brazilians in particular have some problems with him) and I've always really admired Kendrick as an artist, so I don't especially want to talk about how he just massacred Drake's reputation and career: everyone knows that.

Again, he could focus the entire intention of that Superbowl on the fight, and gain more prominence beyond the Grammys he won in relation to it. He did that too. Heavens, it was divine. But he (and his team) looked at the guest list in the VIP area, and focused on the type of person on one of the teams competing in that championship (I don't know a thing about that sport, but imagine my lack of surprise when I discovered the character of certain… names from that institution), and said "we should address that".

Some of the biggest, most talented and successful black artists in the US was there. With what justification, full of discrimination, can people on the other side turn around and say that Kendrick is irrelevant? Or that Samuel L. Jackson isn't important? Or that, fuck, Serena Williams isn't just badass? Of course her presence at the performance had more to do with Drake, but she was there, and she embraced the message.

Kendrick looked at the face of the country, at the largest audience in America, and said: why don't you all go fuck yourselves while I rub it in your face that we made this happen? I don't use middle ground when it comes to this, and we know that fire is met with fire.

What do I mean by all this?

Distractions from our culture are welcome and help us keep going, but this is a time of revolution, and this time the right people have the right platforms. At a time of uncertainty, explicit discrimination and the rebirth of a very specific movement, having powerful voices that enhance the people's speeches is more than a nod to the struggles of the lower classes, but a poke at the higher classes.

It's about shouting out what's wrong. It's about saying 'you're an idiot who thinks you're going to win'. It's about saying that you don't hit someone thinking that they won't hit you back. It's about reinforcing how dumb, insignificant and politically limited they are, who rely on conspiracy theories versus a community that has facts and history on its side.

But more than that, we are clearly reinforced that, regardless of anything, they cannot win.

new ocs! the african wild dog is izaak ohtani and the cheetah is jaylin mills (this was before i changed his name so it says jamil on there still). izaak is jamie's roommate, i have no clue what his major is but he's a twitch streamer on the side. jaylin plays for the cape doris jays, i changed his name from jamil to jaylin because i read this article about the popularity of the name jalen (and variations) in the nba and i thought it was really cute. izaak is probably bisexual and doesn't know it yet, but jaylin is a completely straight guy who just acts gay sometimes. they are doomed yaoi in a sense. i will draw more of them eventually i've been itching to make a "straight guy who acts gayer than gay guys" character for forever

Abby has posted an empty bg of Reese's room before (either on the patreon or her blog, I can't remember), and not having anyone there caused me to notice two very specific pieces of art I hadn't before

The hands reaching down from his window are fascinating in and of themselves, but especially in context of the drawing to their immediate left, which I've talked about before in my bigass theory post -- tl;dr, I think whatever's possessing Sam Wayne's corpse is a physical creature like a mycelium network due to the yellow tendrils coming down from the window in that picture looking like the yellow thing you see pop out of Wayne's sleeve when he hurts Beese's shoulder with a Keen Eye run.

The hands coming down from the window here don't look exactly like that, obviously, but it does make me wonder if the things that come to Reese's window at night (ditchings, Wayne, etc.) aren't just there to look in on him. I wonder if they were trying to pull him out somehow, to undo Doc Kelly's precautions and set Reese free.

If so, why? What would that do, besides maybe just leading to general chaos around town if Reese is in a manic morb?

I thought that Reese felt hunted or persecuted by these hands, hence why he drew them there, until I spotted this:

That... is very definitely a being with a sheet over it.

So this adds a new layer of complication to my previous speculation on Reese and Wayne's relationship: Wayne obviously openly hates Reese, and doesn't even consider him human, calling him a "waste of flesh" and a "weapon."

But since a lot of Reese's paintings seem only semi-allegorical (that's obviously him going Beese Mode morbing out in a lot of them), I was left to wonder... was that always the case?

I see this potentially going two ways:

1. Wayne maybe tried to nurture Reese for a while, or was at least more compassionate toward him -- then something went wrong, Reese refused him somehow or rebelled, which led to his current acrimony.

...actually I lied, I see this maybe going three ways:

2. The Thing Controlling Wayne (here onward "The Thing") came to Reese in the body it had before it took over Wayne's, hence why it looks different - I'm not saying it was wearing a full sheet, but we can at least agree it's not yellow and gross, so it could represent a previous incarnation. Obviously, the relationship has soured somehow since, possibly for the same reason above, and we have two pictures possibly of the same thing representing two emotions, love and fear.

3. As I suggested in my bigass theory post, there's another entity out there (possibly "The Entity" that Avery played in Charlie's show) that possibly fathered Reese, and that The Thing/Wayne have beef with it. So maybe the subject of that particular painting is The Entity, as opposed to The Thing/Wayne. The hand is very distinctly different to The Thing/Wayne's yellow tendrils -- the hands reaching down from the window are brown, but also have fingers. It's a tentative connection, but I'm just throwing spaghetti at the wall here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the same drawing as the above just over Reese's shoulder (you see why the window hands were obscured), but then also to his left in that stack, we see (back to front) a study of his morbed mouth, what's obviously Wayne/The Thing (short, stained sheet), and then Reese being devoured by his morbed self.

see here, among lots of physicality studies, another painting taped to the wall of the yellow lightning/mycelium network. there's also what looks like a hand study taped directly under it, which at first made me think it was the yellow Thing growing/embodying hands. With the context of the hands under the window... hmm.

(...the critter with long hair and wrapped eyes gives me pause, bc it doesn't look like anything else in the room. Or anything we've seen so far. I'm wondering if that could be The Entity? I mean, it also could be just a random study Reese did, but everything else seems so purposeful.)

it's worth pointing out that while the majority of Reese's paintings explore his own pain, trauma, and relationship with his body... the second most common subject seems to be Wayne/The Thing.

what does this mean? there's definitely some sort of relationship there, and while we've only had glimpses of it in that one horrible night in the clinic, I feel like it's going to get a lot more fleshed out in the next chapter or so.

...mostly bc I've seen the sprite Abby put out on the patreon of our boy in the next chapter, and. it leaves me even more questions.

primarily based the fact that his tail now looks a lot like that of the Tailypo from the story in the library, but I need to play through again to take those screenshots.

So! Another Hobbit Day is upon us. On this day last year, I’d promised you all that we would take another trek through LotR, with all new drawings and poems and fanfics. I fully expected to be finished with Book One by now, at least halfway through FotR. What actually happened is that the blog struggled through the first five and a half chapters of the book before suddenly going radio silent.

So what happened?

Well, as you might expect, real life happened. I won't go into the details here—since it has nothing to do with LotR—but I can explain in DMs if anyone is interested.

Basically, a change in my family led to a reexamination of what I thought I knew about my family, which led to a reexamination of what I thought I knew about myself, which kicked off an intense period of self-improvement.

Over the course of this past year, I began to unpack my family's abuse; I learned about boundaries; I started to unlearn my old people-pleasing tendencies; I reconnected relationships that were broken, reevaluated ones that were in the wrong place, and cut off ones that weren't good for me. I discovered there was a little kid in my head who's been waiting years and years for an adult to love her, and to take her needs seriously, and I finally have the chance to be that adult. And I'm happy to say that I've come to a place where I feel safer in my own head than I have ever been.

Probably very little of that is going to show through on this blog. It's all inward stuff; foundational stuff. But one thing that might affect you guys is that I left my (dreadfully overstimulating and stressful) part-time job, and I'm now working full time somewhere else. As much as I love what I do for a living now, working 40 hours a week does mean that I am become Boring Adult who does not have as much time for interneting. With my current schedule, there is no way I'd be able to sustain the intense schedule of "must post one drawing a day" that I had in the early days of this blog; and I don't expect myself to.

But! I would like to—slowly—get this train rolling again.

I find it hilariously apropos that the last piece of art I posted on this blog was of Frodo suddenly disappearing. From Merry's perspective, he completely vanished without explanation or warning. From your perspective, so did I.

But I find myself here again, on another September 22nd, and once again I'm beginning to feel that pull; that pull to read, and draw, and create, and share, and laugh with all of you. Life has calmed down enough for me that I once again have the mental space to think about pursuing my hobbies. There are so many things I want to do—so much to do with the time that is given to me. And I want this blog to be on that list.

My current goal is to post some new book art every other day. If that's too much, I'll adjust it. But if I find my groove and really get into it, who knows? We might return to your regularly scheduled Daily Dose of Frodo-With-Glasses. We shall have to see.

Anyway. If you've read this far, thank you! If you've stuck with this blog since the early days, thank you. And if you are one of that lovely core Fellowship that has had my back and prayed for me all along, I cannot thank you enough.

This past year has been an absolute ride. Not as difficult as a trek to Mordor, maybe, but not easy either. But no matter where I walked, I knew I didn't have to take the journey alone.

"To the Fairest"

The story:

Welcome to Greek Mythology! Today, we're looking at The Apple of Discord And The Judgment of Paris.

So the parents of Achilles are getting married in this story and everyone's invited, well - all but one: Eris, the Goddess of Discord.

Angry at being left out, Eris decides to take revenge and prepares a golden apple which she labels "to the Fairest" before tossing it into the crowd of guests.

Arrogant as per usual, Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena all three start fighting over who the apple is addressed to since they all think they're the prettiest of the bunch. But when that doesn't go anywhere, they - like a horde of squabbling kids - take their fight to Zeus and ask him to pick a winner.

He's like "nah, I'm not getting involved in this" and tells them to ask Paris instead - he's the prince of Troja - so off they go.

They get naked in front of Paris and ask him "who's the prettiest?" but - wise man, he also says he can't pick. But these goddesses have no shame so they immediately resort to bribery.

After turning down fame and political power from Hera and Athena, Paris chooses Aphrodite's offer, for she has offered him the most beautiful mortal bride, aka Helen, who is currently the wife of King Menelaus of Sparta.

Weird dipshit that he is, Paris breaks into Menelaus house to fetch Helen who supposedly falls in love with him on sight and follows him back to Troja willingly. And this is what then led to the 10 year long war between the Greeks and Trojans, respectively commanded by Menelaus and Paris.

Here, the apple is the initial inciter of a war, much like in the Wilhelm Tell story.

The art:

Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena in modern casual wear oooh. The colors here are absolutely gorgeous - I adore the art style~

Because of the white dove over her shoulder, I think the one in the middle is Aphrodite.

The one on the right is Hera because of the peacock tie.

The one on the left must be Athena then, but I don't see any owls, crafting, olive trees, or anything. The rising sun on her bag may be a reference to the time the sun god Helios was so captivated by her being born that he stopped his chariot in the sky and extended the day though!

Either way, Athena is also the one often used as a symbol for democracy and freedom, so heck yeah, Athena!

Another notable thing - I think the decorative leaves around the outside are palm leaves, which "were the symbol of Nike, the winged goddess of victory." [x]

"Snow White"

The story:

Very straightforward - everyone knows this fairytale. The queen of the land wants to be the fairest but her magic mirror tells her Snow White is the fairest so the queen realizes there is only one solution to this problem: MURDER.

She sends a hunter to not just kill Snow White, but also cut out her heart and bring it to the queen as proof of his success.

However, Snow White manages to escape into the woods while the hunter brings the queen a pig's heart to make her believe he succeeded. Meanwhile, Snow White hides out with seven dwarves.

Eventually, the queen finds out the truth and takes matters into her own hands. She poisons an apple, disguises as an elderly woman and gifts the apple to Snow White who bites into it and essentially dies until the prince comes to revive her with a kiss. The End.

In this story, the apple is a symbol of malice and envy since the evil queen tries to use it to kill Snow White for having the audacity to be prettier than her.

The art:

Oh my gosh I'm in love with the mix of an old school limited color palette plus the more modern art style. The framing makes it feel like a Victorian era tarot card.

I think the artist may have been inspired by some of the first ever artworks for the Snow White story. Some examples here include:

"Wilhelm Tell"

The story:

The story referenced here is a Swiss tale about a guy called Wilhelm Tell who shot an apple off his son's head. The story was later adapted into a stage play by Friedrich Schiller (which I had to read for German class in school so I'm familiar).

Basically, there was this bailiff who forced his subordinates to greet a hat on a stick (because he was a dick) but Wilhelm was like "I'm not gonna do that", so the bailiff punished him by forcing him to shoot an apple off his son's head.

Since he was an excellent marksman, Wilhelm succeeded and then told the bailiff "If I'd missed this shot and hit my son, I would've used this second arrow to kill you."

In response to this, the bailiff ordered his people to have Wilhelm imprisoned for life. However, on their way to the prison, a storm nearly crashed the boat taking them there, but Wilhelm managed to steer it to safety and escaped.

He then immediately set off to track down the bailiff whom he then killed from behind with a crossbow. This murder of a tyrant then started an armed revolution.

The art:

I love that the son was highlighted in the Wilhelm Tell poster, because he was very much neglected in the original tale. It was all about the dad but what about the kid who had to watch his father load up a bow and aim it at his head? And the way they made him look like the sunrise? Beautiful, seriously.

Addition:

Since @loving-that-officey-feel mentioned war posters, I dug around a little bit and discovered that the original tale of Wilhelm Tell is dated to 1307 which marked the first year of "a successful national war of liberation [which] was fought against the Austrian Habsburg dynasty throughout the cantons of Switzerland". [x]

During my search, I also found this propaganda poster from WWI in which Switzerland was promoted as a beacon of hope for refugees, prisoners of war, and orphans - it shares the same sunrise colors:

The story:

First of all - nice Jongho reference. But second of all: we all know the story of Isaac Newton sitting under a tree, apple falls on his head, blah blah, but the true story can actually be found in his memoirs, as written by William Stukeley:

“After dinner, the weather being warm, we went into the garden and drank thea, under the shade of some apple trees…he told me, he was just in the same situation, as when formerly, the notion of gravitation came into his mind. It was occasion’d by the fall of an apple, as he sat in contemplative mood. Why should that apple always descend perpendicularly to the ground, thought he to himself…”

Here, the apple is a symbol of revelation, of discovery, of science.

The art:

I love the addition of additional rips to show there were more apples around and Saturn in the background might be a reference to Isaac Newton's take on planetary motion.

At the time, planetary motion was only understood as far as Johannes Kepler's three laws could explain it (which might be what Newton's reading about here), but Newton was the one who realized gravity might actually be what keeps the planets from shooting off in a straight line like any other object that doesn't have another force applying itself onto it. Or so Newtonian physics suggests.

(Let's not bring Einstein into this.)

"Even if the world is going to end tomorrow, I'll plant one apple tree today"

The story:

Versions of this saying can be found throughout Jewish and Islamic scripture, with some being interpreted to mean "plant a tree because it's a good deed" and others more so meaning "plant a tree for future generations".

Alternatively, it can also be read as "plants are the basis for other lifeforms to exist because something must be at the bottom of the food chain". Which would mean planting this tree will ensure that, even after the apocalypse is over and all life has been wiped out, this one tree may restart life for another future civilization.

It's basically a symbol of perseverance during the darkest of times. It's an act of resilience, of saying "I refuse to give up. There is always hope."

I can say the Jewish interpretation is usually 'plant a tree for future generations'. There’s a story about an old man planting a tree and someone laughs at him, saying: "You’ll never get to eat the fruit of this tree, why bother?" And he goes: "My grandfather planted trees that I can eat from and one day my grandchildren may eat from this one." The rude man then falls asleep for forty years or so and wakes to find a full grown tree and a kid picking fruit. The kid then tells the guy that his grandfather planted the tree many years ago. Planting a tree is good to serve future generations and plays into stewardship of the earth. I’d read that as both trying to prepare and support people/nature after an apocalypse, but also as hope that there would be better times. In context of their lore- survival through the revolution and a peace afterwards

As a Muslim Atiny I immediately clocked the hadith reference and was like 'is this is a coincidence or what?' So I feel validated by this post. As for it also being a Jewish reference lol ok - someone pls tell the only Jewish state in existence that genocide is bad for the environment. My own interpretation is that planting a sapling is an act of resistance, a hopeful good deed even if the future is uncertain.

Basically, it is a bunch of musical artists who are really inspired by the synth-heavy soundtracks of action/horror/sci-fi movies of the 1980s, as well as 1980's/90's anime, but are generally millennial age and younger, so the nostalgia is for an era that we were not really conscious for.

its a nostalgia for that really cool synth-heavy 'futuristic' (at the time) sound, combined with the aesthetics of like retro anime, dystopian movies (blade runner and ghost in the shell being HUGE influences in the genre,) epic car chases on neon-lit Tokyo roads, robots and cyborgs, and also the specific kind of Japanese pop music that was really popular in Japan right before the Japanese economic bubble burst.

after having given my parents nearly $100k over the last four years, i'd love to be able to actually leave. my future job situation is still up in the air (i've submitted for about a dozen positions and the only one i've heard back from and interviewed for hasn't gotten back to me yet), and i haven't been able to build up any savings because, again, i was (and still am) helping my family afford rent and bills, and probably the taxes my parents are behind on, but if i think about that, i'll get too angry. no joke, i've given my family, at the bare minimum, 85% of my income over the last 4 years. the rest of it has gone toward medical stuff and, now, my car

at this point, with the combo of my mom refusing to lower her standards and my dad's seeming refusal to hunt for a new full time job, i don't see how they won't continue to bleed me dry. my dad even has a bad habit of taking money out of my old savings account that he's a joint owner on or whatever from when i got it set up when i was 16, even when i stopped actively putting money in it, so now any time it gets its automated $1 transfer from my checking account, he'll just take that $1 without consulting me. i'm not exaggerating, even if it has $1-2 in it, it'll be gone within a week

i've even put off starting on testosterone because of this. i wanted to start it like 3 years ago, but kept putting it off because of money issues and wanting to save as much as possible. i got really close to actually starting it this year, but because of how messy everything is, i put it off again bc having one more thing on my plate, especially when my parents are already weird about me being trans, was not something i wanted to deal with

not to mention, we're still currently not living under a lease in our house that we're, as far as i'm aware, still tens of thousands of dollars behind in rent on (again, my dad refuses to disclose our financial position honestly with any of us) and it's developed many, many issues bc the landlord, even before we were behind on rent, is shit and refuses to actually fix anything. and my dad loves to just ignore things unless we beg him to do something

i'd love to be on my own (in the, much more affordable, midwest) by the end of summer. i by no means want to rely on donations and i have other avenues i'm working with to make money (i still have my current full time job, but i'm going through my old belongings and selling a lot online), but i'll take any help i can get atp because i'm truly at my wits end. i'd start doing art commissions again if i could, but doing that from 2020-2022, partially on top of my full time job, absolutely wrecked my right hand and i'm still in enough pain that i can't make it a regular activity

idk how much else there is to say. there's more i could say but... i don't really wanna air all my dirty laundry here. i'm miserable in so many ways and it's just become increasingly clear that my dad expects me to constantly cover his ass. my younger brother gives money too, but he manages to go on big cross-country and overseas trips with friends, so i think i've been stuck with the burden of giving the most money. there's so many more things going on in the world rn and everyone is stretched thin so i don't expect much, or anything, but. idk. might as well throw it out there, right?

i’ve also since taken down the gfm i set up last year when we got our first eviction notice bc, while we still need the money, i don’t feel right keeping it up for multiple reasons, including “i don’t want to give any of that money to my family” and it feels too… serious to keep it up when i could just throw out my kofi instead

i just want to make sure i have some sort of safety net to catch me if i move before anything job-wise is finalized. i need to be able to afford a place to live for at least a month so i can job-search while physically being in the area i wanna move to, which would ultimately make it easier for me to find a job at all. i'm working on being more firm with giving less money so i can actually have the means to move and be safe and comfortable, but... that never lasts long in this house

Mel Medarda Deserves More Love, and Here’s Why

So, I've talked about Jayce, Viktor AND I've talked about Mel's nature, but I'm gonna talk about her again because in this blog we love empowered women; especially if they are also part of a minority. I'll do this point by section cause I don't want to miss anything major.

Mel Medarda is currently one of the best characters in Arcane, and I will die on this hill. The way people reduce her to "the black girlfriend" is actually insulting because Mel is so much more than just Jayce’s love interest; and it's very easy to put her in that role when talking about Mel's relationship with Jayce and Viktor, but I refuse to let people think that way. She is brilliant, calculated, and deeply complex in a way that makes her one of the most compelling figures in the show.

Her Design Is Breathtaking

Let’s start with the obvious: Mel is gorgeous. she's mine back off. Arcane’s art direction was already next level, but Mel? Mel was crafted to look like a queen. The gold, the intricate patterns, the warm tones—it all screams power, but in a way that’s elegant and beautifully feminine rather than aggressive. She doesn’t need to be physically imposing because her presence alone commands attention. Every time she walks into a room, you know she’s the most important person there, and that’s before she even opens her mouth. Her entire aesthetic is soft but untouchable—she is always in control, even when she’s playing nice.

She’s Not Manipulative for Fun—She’s a Survivor

I've said this in a different post, but I'll say it again cause I'm tired of the slander of my girl.

People call her manipulative like it’s a bad thing, but let’s be real—Mel isn’t playing chess because she wants to. She’s playing because it’s the only way to survive. She was exiled from her own home for being too soft, too sentimental, for valuing strategy over brute force. The Mel we see in Piltover is someone who has adapted. She had to become the smartest person in the room because the moment she wasn’t, she was disposable. That’s not just ambition, that’s survival instinct.

And despite all of that, despite the walls she builds, despite how careful and measured she is—Mel still cares. And that’s what makes her so fascinating. She genuinely wants Piltover to thrive. She believes in progress, in shaping the world into something better. She’s not some cold-hearted puppet master pulling strings for the sake of power—she’s someone who knows how dangerous power can be when left unchecked and is doing everything she can to make sure it’s in the hands of someone who won’t waste it.

Her Relationship with Her Mother Is One of the Most Tragic Parts of the Show.

Mel and Ambessa’s dynamic is brutal. Ambessa is not just a powerful general; she’s the embodiment of everything Noxus stands for—strength, domination, victory at any cost. And Mel? Mel was too soft for that world. Not because she was weak, but because she valued strategy over brute force. She understood that power wasn’t just about conquest—it was about control, influence, the long game. And for that, Ambessa exiled her own daughter. Let that sink in. Mel wasn’t cast out by enemies —she was cast out by her own mother for not being Noxian enough.

And yet, when Ambessa walks back into her life, Mel finds herself back in that role of the disappointing daughter—trying to prove herself, trying to stand her ground, but also clearly still carrying that childhood wound of never being enough for the person who was supposed to protect her. You can see how much she resents her mother but also how much she still wants to prove herself, how much she loves her. That's her mommy after all. It’s heartbreaking. The fact that she had to fight her, kill her, hold her as she took her last breath just proved how much Mel wanted Ambessa to love her in a softer way.

Her Brother’s Death Was a Turning Point for Her

I'm very pissed at the writers for not giving us more about kino's death and relationship with his family.

We don’t get much about him, but what we do know is devastating. He was killed because he wasn’t strong enough, and Ambessa used his death as a lesson to Mel. Like, imagine the trauma of that. Imagine losing your sibling and instead of comfort, you get told this is why you have to be stronger. That kind of loss doesn’t just hurt—it defines you in some way. It’s why Mel is so careful, so precise. She doesn’t make reckless moves. She doesn’t show weakness. She can’t. Because she knows what happens when you do.

And Mel didn't just lose her brother, she lost the one person who could've understood her. The man who she shared a mother with. Someone who knew how she felt because he lived it too. Once Kino was gone Mel had no one who actually understood her in that sense.

Elora Is More Important to Her Than People Realize

Elora isn’t just Mel’s assistant—she’s probably the closest thing Mel has to a real ally. Elora sees everything Mel goes through, from the political games to the personal struggles, and she stays by her side anyway. That’s not just loyalty; that’s trust. And the thing is, Mel trust her back. You can see it in the way she spoke to Elora compared to how she speaks to everyone else—there’s a quiet understanding between them, an ease that Mel doesn’t have with anyone else in Piltover. Elora might not be in the spotlight, but she was so important to Mel’s story, because she’s proof that even in a world where everyone is playing their own game, Mel wasn't completely alone.

Her death ended up breaking Mel. Elora was Mel's, the same way Viktor was Jayce's. The main difference is that Elora worked for her, and like someone said in my reposts on another post, that has to fuck you up some way.

She’s More Than Just Jayce’s Love Interest.

I can say it louder, but not clearer. Yes, I ship JayVik, and yes, Mel and Jayce’s relationship was not meant to last from the start, but that doesn’t mean she was just a stepping stone. She wasn’t some shallow romantic obstacle—she's her own person with her own goals, and she shaped the world in ways that go far beyond her romance with Jayce. If anything, Jayce was a stepping stone for her, not the other way around. She didn’t fall for him because he was pretty and charming (even though he is pretty and charming); she saw potential in him. She saw a man who could change the world, and she made sure he did.

And that’s what makes her incredible. She’s not just a survivor—she’s a visionary, one who refused to let Noxus define her and carved out her own kind of power instead. She played Piltover’s game and won. And honestly? That makes her one of the strongest characters in Arcane.

Mel Medarda in season 2 is everything. If you don’t love her, I don't trust you.

so this is re: the cullens being in high school, as per the ask you answered a couple days ago! i also always thought it was super weird, and i’ve been thinking for a while now that a MUCH better cover story would for them all (even carlisle and esme) to be grad school housemates (i say this as someone who has now spent two years in grad school and is about to be there for another five at least lmaoooo)

here’s why i think it would work:

1. the age weirdness wouldn’t be as obvious bc people of all ages go to grad school (i started when i was 22 and had classmates in their 40s)

2. related to age, the visible/physical age also wouldn’t matter as much since some of my classmates (me included 😭😭) looked like we could still pass as high schoolers while others gave off huge “kids and a mortgage vibes” even if they were just like a year older

3. the whole looking “off” and tired thing is just like. the grad school Look™️. the shadows under the eyes and general gaunt-ish appearance honestly wouldn’t stand out that much and if somebody said something about them looking “off” or whatever, they could just be like “late night studying” and the other person would be like “lmao so true bestie”

4. if they pretended they were all renting space in the same big house (and carlisle and esme just acted a little less parental), the whole “dating each other” thing wouldn’t be that weird at all. i feel like it’s not that uncommon for couples who get along to rent different floors or sections of a house, and if they didn’t pretend to be one big weird family situation and instead just acted like they all met each other at school, i don’t think people would even bat an eye

5. people go to grad school forever. like. for so long (i vaguely knew of someone who was in the eighth or ninth year of her phd). esp if they picked something like a big state school where the “kids” could go to undergrad first, they could realistically do four years of undergrad, maybe a two or three year masters, and then a phd of indeterminate length (usually at least five). that would allow them to stay in the same place for at least 11 years

and this is not an official point, but i will note that for carlisle to still do his whole doctor thing, i think it would be perfectly reasonable for him to have already “graduated” or whatever, but continue to stay with his “friends” for financial reasons, or just bc the living situation worked for everyone

anyway, i’m so sorry this was so long, and honestly i bet someone has already said this somewhere before, but it just struck me when reading the “why tf are the cullens in high school” post that grad school would be such a great cover story for them

I've definitely seen "just put them in college!" before (and I have made that argument myself) but I don't know if I've seen the grad school cover story specifically before!

It would allow Esme and/or Carlisle to be the 'peers' of their children rather than some sort of guardian or parental figures. They could, as you said, all be renting a house together and Esme could be studying architecture or getting a PhD in art history or whatever while the kids study who knows what. Maybe there's a medical school as well and Carlisle can go back (it still makes zero sense that Edward and Rosalie go "to keep him current' like how is that supposed to work? They come home and just recite from perfect vampire memory everything that happened in calls? Wouldn't Carlisle be keeping current by like, idk, actually being a doctor, reading journals, going to conferences, and continuing education?).

A group of friends renting a house together as a bunch of couples makes way more sense than two parents barely visibly older than their foster/adopted kids who all date each other.

And, honestly, it's probably a better use of their time to get actual advanced degrees rather than stopping at undergrad? I know because of secrecy how they use their knowledge and skills is somewhat fraught but like, publish papers under a false name or let someone else take the credit or something and you can still contribute to the world of academia.

[Tourney Sympathy Section!]

I know we don't know each other extremely well (though I've seen your comics for a while and always admired how much work you put into each one and also your amazing and unique world building) but I'd like to offer hugs (...or whatever you're most comfortable with in place of those!) and sympathy.

I tried to keep a smile up throughout the tourney but I experienced some of that kind of back-talking too. Someone in the server (who I would like to think I became friends with eventually and really respect as a creator) called me a hypocrite way early on and said straight up that I could never understand what the rest of the competitors were going through because I ran a "popular" blog. It shut me up for a good long while ^^ Not saying this to convince you to forgive anyone, just that I know how upsetting the comments would casually get in that place with little to zero apologies to follow… And that I too felt extremely isolated because regardless of how well my posts on here did, I never -knew- anybody in the fandom or had ever talked to anyone before this event.

Anyway, lots and lots of sympathy. ^^ I'll try not to fill this message with "oooh, me as well!" but...I also saw my OC get fairly flanderized by folks, particularly with everyone in the Discord trying to treat him like a kid which, despite his age being a literal kid, that kind of treatment is something that would immediately rub him the wrong way. For me, I ended up kind of throwing in the towel and going with it eventually, and it took a lot of work to mold him back to something more closely resembling my original vision of him. I actually really admire you for standing strong with your character + lore despite how easy it was for things to get jumbled with everyone trying (or not) to figure everyone out.

...And I'm sorry if I was one of the people who mischaracterized Valfrey. I actually went to check out her toybox page VERY early on in the tournament (because I was fascinated + loved how their name came from Morpho's original name + the valkyrie thing) but I admit that some of that might've gotten overwritten or confused with time...

Lastly, given your experiences were a mixed bag, I wanted to ask... 

I have one more piece of tourney art to post this month as a conclusion to the second-chance finals - it's a very short piece with Noir and Rope MF going to a tug of war convention. Because I thought it would be sweet, I included starstruck and Valfrey in their little group too (Valfrey in their smaller butterfly form.)  

But if you would rather I leave her out of this because it's tourney related, I can do that too! Or if you think they wouldn't travel in that form or...?

Basically, after reading everything you went through, I want to try and get them right! (For clarity's sake, it's currently just a little cameo with her perched atop the human vers of Noir's head. I thought that would be okay since he's a lost soul already in that form!)

I hope I don't ramble too much, putting it under the cut just in case!

[Sympathy Section]

I do appreciate hearing about your similar experiences a lot! Makes me feel a little less alone in that whole thing... <3 I feel like people sometimes forget that we too are people. Like, I know how it's like to not be known at all. I've been there for many many years and only recently found a bit of a niche to enjoy.

I've been online for a good 15 years by now, (and given how you're about a decade older than me you can probably relate), naturally I've had my fair share of soul crushing experiences in which I posted something I worked very hard on and it got absolutely zero interactions. Just straight up nothing. It's not like we came online for the first time and immediately had people flocking to us as though it was a natural talent.

I've only been actively drawing Kirby fanart for about two years, the first time in a decade anything I've done actually managed to get some attention. It's worth noting that I don't even think it's possible to even climb that high within a niche fandom like Kirby. Even the biggest blogs that focus solely on Kirby aren't actually that large. The divide feels all the more unnecessary.

I like to tackle esoteric topics while the largely popular wholesome genre is something I really do not vibe with, naturally I don’t actually build up that much of a following. I'd have to force myself to do it and have a couple of times, but I don't want to make that a habit. I'm in this not for any fame but to have fun and get to talk with others about a franchise I've loved for as long as I can remember. Before the tournament there were only one or two people I could regularly talk to. I think having a friend group within the fandom is not only more rewarding than "fame" but also a lot less lonely.

Anyway, can I just mention how impressive it is to see a human OC like Noir find a footing in all of this? My creativity has been called into question for using a "common species" instead of something "more original". While humans aren't commonly used within the larger Kirby OC side of things, I'd imagine people would think of the species as "uncreative" even though there is much to dabble into in terms of lore just as there is for the orbs. People come here largely for characters that aren't human and yet your amazing writing and art managed to overcome that burden and Noir managed to capture people's attention!

I'd imagine many just looked at his design and made some assumptions and characterised him based on that alone instead of engaging with his lore, just as they looked at Valfrey and came to the conclusion that if she is a butterfly she must be a reaper and nothing else... and thank you so much for actually reading her toyhouse page! I've since rewritten it entirely in hopes of perhaps making her lore more clear in the future. It can be tough properly introducing OCs with a lot of lore. I'm grateful for anyone who actually takes their time to look into it!

I'D ACTUALLY LOVE THAT OMG it'd be an honour to be included in all that!! Valfrey coming in in the butterfly is just so cute and hilarious. She can sit on top of Noir and be carried around a little LOL. Valfrey does like to observe things a lot in that form, I can totally see this being in character! <3

Past life wardens?? 👀

Past Life Wardens is what I'm currently calling an au of mine! Thus far, the plan is for it to be a collection of one-shots, but I'm not opposed to doing something multi-chapter if FinFault allows me the time/energy XD

(Writing snippet after the info)

The premise is that after being killed in the Life Series, all name-tagged wardens are reincarnated as warden-hybrid players on Hermicraft with the derivative code genetics of the player who named them. So the au centers around these three:

Rev (Rancher's Revenge) - she's the oldest and most level-headed of all of them. Her player data has her code derivative from Tango only, but he and Jimmy coparent and both utterly adore her. She spends most of her time on Hermitcraft with Tango since she's not one for world-hopping the way Jimmy is, and she helped out with parts of DO2. Like Tango, she's a fast learner with redstone, but what she really excels at is building. Although very quiet and reserved, Rev is incredibly chaotic and is often the ringleader of any antics the warden kids get up to. Her role model is her uncle Zed.

Dish (Etho's Dishwasher) - the second oldest of the warden kids, his code is derived from both Grian and Etho since one made the nametag and the other named the warden. Etho is a notoriously absent father, so Dish spends most of his time in Grian's social circle. He's skilled with an elytra, and Scar has taught him the art of the HoTGuY (and the art of the con). He loves watching the masters terraform and is beginning to learn the skill himself.

Goober - Etho's favorite. Goober is the youngest (and loudest) of the warden kids, but he's incredibly sweet and finds a lot of joy in gathering resources to give to other players for their builds. However, despite the kindness he shows most of the time, he is very much Rev's "gremlin little cousin," and he is eager to assist her and Dish with pranks (with Grian's motto of "prank hard, but clean up your messes after.") Etho is teaching him how to do redstone, which many players think is a bad idea. Do not let him near tnt.

Any future wardens in future Life Series seasons will be added to this au, and I will likely also feature my Team Rancher fan-kid Phoenix as Rev's younger sister. (I don't think I've talked about her before on here, but I'll likely talk about her more in a different post if people like this one.)

I've had this au for a few months now, and I am happy to keep writing or expand on it if people like it, so please lmk if you like this au idea! I really appreciate feedback on all of my works! :) <3

Now here's a snippet of the first one shot (currently unpublished) that I wrote for this:

Her darkness fades completely, a calm relief taking the place of the fear. It’s a new feeling too. All of these feelings are new. The room she’s in is small but open, and she can see all of it without needing to use any echolocation. There’s an entire wall of chests to her right, and the floor is made of packed mud with a rug depicting a shirtless player in the middle of it. She isn’t sure how she knows the words “chest” and “rug” and  “packed mud,” but she knows them all the same.  To her left is an expanse of cavern, empty save for a vague sense of intention, whatever that means. She can sense the other wardens of this world from where she sits, the sculk in all the spaces between emitting a faint aura of contentment. They like it here, wherever “here” is.  Other wardens? Or just wardens in general? She looks down at what she can see of herself. Her skin is the same dark greenish-navy it always was, but she has the hands of a player, the legs of a player, the torso of a player. Before now, she didn’t know what “warden” meant, nor did she comprehend that it was a term that applied to her. But now that she isn’t one, she understands that she used to be one.  The outfit she wears is not something she remembers putting on, but she likes it. It’s a knee-length black dress made of heavy wool, lined at the top and bottom hems with thick beige fur. The sleeves are longer than her arms, with matching fur at their hems too. A short beige and turquoise cloak rests on her shoulders overtop the dress, the part that covers her chest embroidered with decorative black ribs.  There is an object in her hand, and she brings it closer to her face to examine it, having been holding it without realizing the whole time. It’s a rectangle, perfectly sized to feel natural in her grasp, and the material it’s made of is indescribable by design.  “Communicator.” The term pops into her mind like a surprise gift.  She sees a series of words on it, ones she can read despite never having interacted with the concept of written language before: RanchersRevenge joined the game [joehillssays] howdy to a dish best served cold! [Xisuma] hello? [VintageBeef] that is not a name I recognize [Xisuma] me neither [Xisuma] new person, are you at spawn? [Xisuma] no one at spawn [Xisuma] where are you? [joehillssays] you might have to get their coords yourself if they don’t know how to use a comm  [Xisuma] the admin interface says they’re at Tango’s base Her attention lingers on that name. Tango. She knows that name.  “See? I’m not gonna hurt ya.” She doesn’t understand the language the player is speaking, but he sounds reassuring in his tone. He holds out a piece of steak. She takes it, pausing for a moment to inspect the meal before devouring it. “Well that must’ve been tasty.” He whisper-laughs below the sound threshold of the sculk sensors, reaching out to ruffle the turquoise fluff between her antlers. His touch is as warm as his flames. Soothing. Comforting. Ignoring her sense of instinct, she waddles closer to him, lightly bonking her forehead against his shoulder.  His expression melts with a squeak he fails to stifle. “Ah! Adorable with extra cute!” A sculk sensor chirps nearby, and he quickly scans their surroundings, shrinking down in alertness. “Now let’s skadoodle you up to the surface before we summon any of your friends.” He gently ties a nametag around her wrist. She can’t read it.

I deviated from the canon DL events just a little bit with this to make Tango more caring/parental towards Revenge in this au (rather than raging bc the game kept crashing irl while trying to bring a warden to the surface).
