Rise and Shine!

It was easy to tell which side of the room was Floyd's. It always looked like a hurricane had run through, scattering clothes all over every avaliable surface. Snack crumbs are sprinkled like a generous garnish on his desk and shelf. His belongings—interesting odds and ends he had collected over the weeks—were similarly strewn haphazardly, wherever there was free space to be occupied.

There was only one thing that the storm seemed to have missed.

His shoes.

A glossy black--patent leather. Large yet sleek, tapering into pointed toes. It was the same pair he wore every day with his school uniform, yet there was not so much as a scratch or a speck of dirt on them.

Pristine.

The one thing he takes good care of, you thought. Must be magic.

Other shoes sat in neat rows on a rack. Boots, sneakers, sandals, in shapes and colors you've never even imagined. The variety astounded you.

Floyd bounded about the room collecting his things. He hopped around on one leg, slipping on a sock, then alternated to the other leg. Next he slung his blazer, still slightly wrinkled from having been crumpled and tossed over a chair last night, on over his prim grey-lilac vest. His striped tie was forgotten, left forlorn on his bed as he yoinked the patent leather shoes and slipped them on.

“‘K, I’m ready," Floyd announced cheerily. "Let’s get going, koebi-chan~"

You stared at his messy room. "You're not going to tidy up a little before heading out?"

He blinked. "Hmm? Why would I? Stuff's gonna shift around anyway, so there's no point in doing that."

Floyd strolled out, hands casually tucked in his pockets. You followed after him, falling in time with his footsteps. Today, they were long and languid, like waves lazily combing the beach.

You knew what that meant; good mood, best to not disturb it.

"... Right." You offered a small, reassuring smile. “Hey, I noticed that you have a lot of shoes—and you take such good care of them.”

“Yeah. Cuz we don’t really have’m where I come from. Gotta make the most of my human experience and all.”

"You don't exactly dress in a shirt and pants under the sea either," you pointed out with a shrug.

“Shoes are special.” He said it with surprisingly conviction, an uncharacteristic seriousness set in his eyes. "You kinda need them to do the things humans do every day, least without getting nagged at. Jumping, dancing, strolling down the street."

“All this talk about footwear… You sound like Cinderella.”

“Ehh… Do I give you those vibes?” There was a crackle entangled with his words.

“You’re the kind of guy that would sneak out if Azul told you to stay put.” You paused, then added, “just to prove a point.”

He gave a razor-sharp grin in response. “Touché.”

Floyd glanced down at his feet. His eyes barely lingered there for half a second before they flicked to yours. “Glass slippers sound cool though.”

“Glass slippers? Really? You’re not scared they’d break…? I thought you’d be into more durable shoes. Something easy to move around in.”

“I’d try’m on at least once, as long as it’s not lame lookin’. I’ll try anything at least once. Glass slippers, a puss’s boots, ballet flats from twelve dancing princesses, shoes made by elves…”

“Even cursed shoes?” you asked. “Professor Trein was telling us about them the other day. Put them on, and you’re cursed to dance forever and ever—or at least until you collapse from exhaustion.”

Floyd made a face. “Nah. Dancing’s fun, but not if you do it all the time. I’d get sick of it.”

"There’s more than one way of dancing.”

“Duh. I know that. But it’ll still get pretty boring after a while.”

“I don’t think so.” You shook your head, your feet coming to a stop. “Dancing’s a lot like having a conversation, except your mouth doesn’t ever need to move. You just let your body do the talking.”

Your legs criss-crossed in a quick jig. "This is being excited." Standing on your toes, you carefully elevated yourself. "This is whispering." Putting all your weight into your feet, you stomped. "And this is shouting!"

Floyd watched your demonstration in silence. Gold, right. Olive, left. Together, mysterious and mirthful.

“Sounds fun,” he piped up at last. “I want in on this."

Before you had the chance to respond, Floyd's had had already latched onto yours. The other wrapped around your waist, tugging you against his chest. You lurched against him, and the sound of his raspy laughter filling your eardrums.

“You wanna dance? Let’s dance. Then you tell me what my dancing says to you.”

“W-Wait, Floyd…!”

He didn’t.

Floyd strung you along and down the street, swinging you erratically in his arms. With his long limbs swaying, he moved as naturally as a fish amid coral. For a creature of the sea, he had such grace on land that you could never tell his true origins.

He was the wind, a water current, a wayward traveler. Constantly changing and never truly contained.

Your panic and surprise easily melted into light-hearted laughter. And your feet, too, began to weave freely, as if wading on the shoreline, drawing indiscriminate shapes in the sand.

Realization struck you when you looked at him again. Your heart went thump-thump-thump, in a frantic little dance of its own.

Floyd met your gaze, sparks flying. His fingers interlocked with yours, he leaned in and grinned. Cheeks ruddy, eyes shining with exhibition.

“We don’t need words. Just our dancin’ shoes and each other!”

oh my goodness, i can *hear* me three years ago in this 😂😭 firstly, welcome to the insanity 💗 discovering milex for the first time really is quite an experience, i know i for one have never been quite the same since lol. i mean, i went from "huh, there's kind of a lot of ust between those two guys onstage" to starting a milex blog and writing multiple fanfics about them, so... yeah. trust me, i get it 😅

however, unfortunately i'm not sure i can answer your question of what they are to each other... words that have been thrown at their dynamic from journalists, friends, fellow musicians and fans include: bromance, soulmates, love affair, best friends, lovers, brothers, infatuated, impossible. and honestly... i feel like the truth probably holds elements of all those descriptors. there's never been any official line about exactly what they are to each other, but i think one thing is blindingly clear: how incredibly important they are to each other. like those two men *love* each other. and only they know exactly what form that love takes, but the fact that it's there? absolutely and completely undeniable. the way they act around each other or even just look at each other speaks louder than any definitions ever could 🥺

if it helps, i've been here for years now and it still astounds me quite how... intense and non-platonic the vibes are in literally every scenario whenever they're within two feet of each other (although, as we know, they prefer it if the distance is much less than that). like interviews, behind the scenes footage, onstage performances - wherever they are, when they're with each other they just seem to forget the rest of the world exists and are so wrapped up in each other it almost feels like looking at something so intimate we should look away 😭

in terms of what you said about thinking alex is the straightest person ever: i think that's a really common perception (certainly one i had in my earlier days of getting to know arctic monkeys), because he certainly makes no secret of being into women. however, if you listen to a lot of his songs and are aware of the way he interacts with men too... well, it definitely doesn't seem like it's only women he's into. if you're wanting to get more of a glimpse of that, milex is a great place to start lol. but also you might try listening to songs like catapult, electricity, do me a favour, the jeweller's hands, american sports, and mr schwartz.

I have always wished I could find poets to devour. Ones that I couldn’t get enough of. The romantic, dreamy, magical shit that eats you whole. Just swallows you up in feels. So many times over the years, I have wandered barnes and noble, hoping I fall for one of the poets on the shelves, and leaving empty-handed and disappointed. How many times I’ve googled poetry, coming up empty for anything meaningful. I’ve seen people my whole life who had writers they could lean into fully. The ones where you could read ANYTHING they wrote, and it resonated with you. I’ve had this happen with musicians and lyrics, but never just the written word. And it ate at me my whole life that I couldn’t find ONE writer that just fit.

Bc I have always, always had a deep well of feelings in my soul, that I could never find reflected on the page. Not in a way that resonated with me. And I am such a devourer of details. The tiniest notion of love, means EVERYTHING. And finding someone who felt that way about details seemed impossible. Romanticizing those little things that are EVERYTHING. I eventually believed there was something wrong with *me* because I couldn’t find much of me on the page.

And then one day I found you.

And everything you write touches me. It’s everything I’ve been wanting. Everything i hoped for my whole life. I have never skipped one of your writings. Not one. Never once squicked out or didn’t like a piece. I love everything you write. 😭

1, Jake & reader have a series of bets (sorry Amy, I’m taking your man & his games!) like reader bets Jake can’t go a week without sugar/coffee, Jake bets reader she can’t take something out of holts office without him noticing etc ect.

2, elevator make outs!! (This could build on the bets like in relationship Jake & reader have bets on how long they can kiss in the elevator without getting caught, or they have a no kissing rule at work that one of them breaks in the elevator!)

3, reader is a barista in a little cafe/bakery place and Jake comes in, she thinks he’s cute so she gives him a free pastry and flirting happens! This occurs over several weeks until reader gets in trouble with her boss and Jake overhears then offers to take reader on an actual dinner date to pay back all his freebie’s (and because he likes her obviously 😂)

4, reader teaches Jake how to cook, lots of mess & failed attempts happen but also it’s flirty & fun! Kitchen kisses 😘 (I am yearning!!)

5, reader is a prosecutor working a case with Jake, as they go over evidence they develop a mutual respect & attraction that ends up flirty & either Jake kisses reader for luck before she goes to court or after winning the case reader kisses Jake to celebrate!

7, reader is harassed/bullied on the street (or in another precinct as a new detective) and Jake sees & goes hard defending her! (I love it when jakes gets angry and protective)

8, insecure reader and/or insecure Jake. Both have a hard day and don’t feel great about themselves but when the other sees them upset they immediately go to cheer them up, showering them in love & compliments and they end up cuddling 🥰 ik this is vague but just comforting vibes are needed!

9, Mafia Jake.. does anything! I’m obsessed with him in this era and there is barely anything about him 😭 reader could be his fbi contact who helps him with his new role, or in adjusting back to normal life after the case is done (also in getting over Amy, sorry again girl but how tf could you let this man go?!) My take on Libra

This sign also talks about luck , good energy , soft emotions, intellectual curiosity, positive energy, nice things , luxury, flirtation, light heartedness, romance, it rules over the color pink, it’s just a soft feminine energy even men who carry this have a hint of feminine majestic beauty or a strong feminine vibe to them similar to men who have Pieces and Taurus Energy. I was flattered but I did have to tell her I was sorry but I didn’t feel the same way. Guess what? She went off to the next option even if after that she avoided me which I felt bad for but not being honest for me kinda makes it hard to be.. she really started dating a college guy though :) and I was glad to see she just doesn’t loose her game. But yeah Libras make things for you , they really try for you when they find interest. They do things for you. Honestly awesome friends to have in general. My second Libra friend was a hopeless romantic too. She told me she wanted to date someone but nobody wanted to date her but she didn’t notice a lot of guys wanted to sit next to us because probably for her 😂 most likely they wanted to sit next to her. She always talked about her wants to find the right guy to have her first kiss, to go out with and all. She was captain of the cheer team. Often made people laugh and happy. And a lot of guys sat at our table when we sat together like they listened to her talk about her romantic feelings about love. I often wondered why is she always talking about love in a math class yet she actually liked learning about Geometry 📐 … the main reason I enjoyed being around these friends was because of the light hearted fun I often had the jokes and I really just the vibe with them when they talked about love and even if I wasn’t so good at the time with expression on feelings or talking a lot they really enjoyed me listening and nodding or questioning why? This ? Why that? Or when we threw a ball around in the class while our teacher wasn’t looking 😂. These friends also bring you out of your shell, they arnt shy they love to make friends, they like to include most people that fit their idea of fairness , love , beauty , aesthetics and so on :)

You guys can be known to be a whole package people really want you to be around your a beautiful persona to being together groups. Yes you guys should become leaders of beauty & aesthetics, interior designs, pastry designers , hair stylists, art design, Model agency, anywhere beauty can squeeze in and where you can take up a leading position on the other hand you can create programs about justice , fairness , lawful rights 🙂 leadership in law or justice, humanity issues.. yeah lastly another place can be social circles

They take relationships seriously once they are in and finally decided if they tell you long haul you can see they will put in effort for that seriously you’ll bring out their romantic side to them you will see they actually even open your door and or woman actually make things for you )

HI RAVEN!!!! 🤔 kinda a random thought not really but would you consider ace and sebek to be like? RIVALS? or to have a strong dislike towards eachother compared to other first years/students? 🤔🤔 haven’t read much sebek stuff or book 7 so maybe it’s just the way I interpret things……..

🤔🤔 for me at least I feel like ace brings up sebek especially a handful of times? and to bash on him too or at least poke fun at him. can’t think of a lot off the top of my head but in ace’s birthday jacket vignette he picks at sebek specifically when going thru dorm choices. WHICH LIKE……. I DUNNO ITS GIVING VERY “I BEEF W HIM” VIBES. I figured it could just be because he’s a fellow first year but ?? jack or epel don’t get mentioned when he was talking about their dorms so i’m not sure 🤔

But!! I did my best to cite where I’m pulling my information from (main story, vignettes, etc.) and directly quote from the official localization. Hope that’s okay!

I mean… Sebek is pretty much always pissing off his peers because of the condescending way he talks to them. It’s no wonder why he rubs people the wrong way. As for Ace, he has indicated that he finds Sebek to be a pain in the ass. I don’t know if I would personally call it “beefing” though?? I see it more as Ace just wants Sebek to shut up and chill out (though Sebek would definitely shout at Ace and fight him) 😂

Point is, I don’t see Sebek having a particular disdain for Ace (he is abrasive toward everyone), but I do see Ace having a particular dislike for Sebek. They aren’t “rivals” in the same way that Ace and Deuce are, as Ace and Sebek don’t really compete for anything or get into many instances of bickering—at least not from what we see. That might just be a product of Sebek being formally introduced later than the other first years, but even counting vignettes and event interactions, it’s still pretty one-sided; often we see Ace commenting on Sebek but not the other way around.

According to Ace in 7-11, he knows Sebek because they’re in the same Magic Analysis/Enigmics (EN writes this class as both of these so it can get confusing) elective. He also implies (in 7-34) sharing other electives with Sebek. This means Ace has regular direct experience with Sebek compared to the other first years (except maybe Deuce?)… ie more opporunities to be annoyed by Sebek’s arrogant loner attitude.

Ace reports (again, in 7-34) that “[Sebek] insults people like, all the time. He even says stuff right to my face when we're in the same group, like, 'Don't you dare slow me down, human!' And he always finds some way to make every subject about Malleus, then drones on and on about how great he is." In regards to those intense feelings about Malleus, Ace says "[Sebek] takes it to a whole other level [...] I can see why people would idolize [Malleus]. But, like, you don't have to make it your entire personality, y'know?" Ace repeats these ideas in his Birthday Boy vignettes. “[Sebek]’s always yelling something or other about his precious Malleus. Oh yeah, and he talks down to us for being human. Dude's a total fae fanboy.”

In Sebek's School Uniform vignette, Sebek yells at Ace for running in the halls. Ace responds by calling him an "uptight nag" whose yelling will disturb other students. Ace also points out how pathetic Sebek comes across as after witnessing him trip over himself to apologize to Malleus. “Dude, nothing you say's gonna impress anyone after that sorry sight.” When Ace tries to leave the scene to make it to class, Sebek shouts at him. “You wait just a minute! I'm not finished! COME BACK HERE!” It should be noted that Ace is someone who always tries to find shortcuts or ways to get out of work whereas Sebek is strict and diligent. Their mindsets and values naturally clash.

This, I think, is a very good summary of most people's problems with Sebek. Ace is just saying what's on everyone's mind--and this makes sense for Ace's character, as he has consistently been the type of guy to call others out. He also encourages Yuu to do the same (in his Birthday Boy vignettes). This detail at least implies Ace finds it amusing on occasion to tease Sebek for his shortcomings.

We see Sebek’s behavior in class for ourselves in his Dorm Uniform vignettes. Ace actually appears in them too, remarking that Sebek is a “loudmouth”. This is something he echoes in his Birthday Boy vignettes; “Loudmouth doesn't even begin to describe him.” When Sebek starts arguing with his group members (some mobs) and refusing to work with them while simultaneously extolling Malleus, Ace says “Here we go again with Sebek and his ‘liege’… Man, imagine being grouped with that guy who […] All he had to do was play nice and let [the mob students] help. He CHOSE to make things harder. How does that guy even function in society?” Side note: In Ace’s Suitor Suit vignettes, he calls Sebek the “number-one worst contender” for a groom. Ace clearly thinks Sebek is unfriendly and annoying in areas extending beyond academics or school life. This is, of course, in addition to Ace finding his loud voice grating.

Later in the same vignettes, Ace and Deuce are forced to sit close to Sebek in the crowded cafeteria. Sebek insists to Lilia that his classes are going well, to which Ace starts snickering and reveals the truth: “Dude... No problems whatsoever? You've got nothing BUT problems, bro! Haha!” Deuce pitches in: “He got into a loud argument with some classmates during our defensive magic lesson. He called his groupmates ‘burdens’ and insisted on doing their entire project by himself.” Ace then says Sebek must think highly of himself and gets annoyed when his words are taken literally. “Do you not understand sarcasm either?” He tells Sebek to fix his attitude, but it doesn’t seem to work. Ace sighs and says he’s just wasting his breath on this.

Sebek’s Dorm Uniform vignettes illustrate Sebek’s general struggles to get along with all of his classmates, not just Ace or Ace specifically. Deuce notably also calls Sebek out for causing trouble for his peers, even stating “[…] as an aspiring honor student, I can't condone your behavior. Having confidence is fine and all, but you shouldn't make things harder for others. That's just being obnoxious.” Sebek pisses off the other first years in 7-34 too, calling them “shallow” and making a terrible first impression. Ace, who is also present, says that no one wants to be chummy with him anyway—not if he’s going to act like that.

In conclusion, Ace has explained his rationale for disliking Sebek many times over. Rather than saying Ace has a problem with Sebek, I think it would be more accurate to say that Ace has a problem with Sebek and is simply relaying the opinions that everyone else holds directly to Sebek’s face. (He gets annoyed that Sebek takes none of it to heart though.) As for the other party, Sebek chides Ace no differently than he would anyone else stepping out of line, not appreciating Malleus, or… just existing as a human 💀 He doesn’t seem to have issues with Ace other than his lax attitude (which could also apply to many other characters such as Leona).

In my opinion, Ace and Sebek are not rivals (at least not major ones), nor do they have specific beef with each other outside of one-off instances or whenever Ace is in the mood to lay down The Truth and embarrass Sebek. I see Ace and Deuce as your classic rivals and Sebek as like… a villain of the week who cameos here and there after his first appearance to cause shenanigans.

I know yesterday’s news were a bit shocking bc we all thought they still lived in the same apartment, but after watching the live in its entirety and thinking it over, it really doesn’t change much.

1. They still live in the same building, as evidenced by jmj and ningselle sharing cars all the time. Just yesterday on live, mj told jm she should’ve gone with her to the dorms if she had known she was leaving. Further evidence of this (idt anyone is denying they share a building but just in case): same pics of first snow dec 2024, when jmj got bored and just went to the park to play together, only possible bc they’re neighbors (the slide gayness just cherry on top).

2. Karina said yesterday in her live she never knows if nn is home and that it was actually similar to when they all shared an apt, which means they all lead pretty separate lives when they are in the dorm since it’s mostly to sleep (she said they used to get together when there were pick ups or went out together). Furthermore remember the Christmas decorations comments Ningrina made last Christmas? They definitely have big enough spaces that they don’t necessarily know what the other one does all the time.

3. Karina also said yesterday that her lifestyle patterns really match ningning’s. They were roommates for a long time and so were turtlez, and considering they aren’t actually moving that far apart, it kinda makes sense they chose to stick with the people they vibe with in that sense, to avoid unnecessary fighting which can happen even amongst the closest of friends bc living together is hard! I think had they moved to apts that were very far away, maybe jmj’s clingy asses wouldn’t have been able to cope but this is almost like living together still, only a few doors or floors away.

All in all, i think it’s a healthy choice to stay really close to eo but with space to breathe too. If you think about it, now they only spend time together outside of schedules when they want to (which seems to be all the time lately). They seek eo to have fun and share good moments and they can still come over plenty but also have a space that’s only theirs! And haven’t jmj sailed the most in 2024? Further proof that this new living arrangement has done nothing but make them fonder of eo and seek eo’s companionship even more! And besides i have no doubt whenever mj’s been sick for example, jm has permanently moved to turtlez’ apt until she started feeling better 😭 (minjeong’s extra clinginess lately also points to her even being more appreciative-outwardly- of jm’s affection and care).

Anyways, sorry for the lecture but i really wanted to share my thoughts in case anyone wants to read it and find comfort. At the end of the day, i am also sad they dont all share a space but they’re still very close to eo and the reason they dont anymore isn’t bc they want to live separately but bc they couldn’t find anything suitable for all of them to have an equal room and that’s beautiful too, the fact they all want eo to be treated fairly! Jm also said now it’s more boring just the 2 of them, these girls fr have separation anxiety 😅

Pd: i also think, and i agree with anon, living separately makes it a little bit more interesting when they get together, it’s like adding a little spice to their relationship! (Although they definitely get ready for schedules together many times bc there is no way they show up to the airport in matching outfits completely by chance😂)

Screaming that you didn’t mind my long ramble😀 I’m so happy I was on the same page as you! When I read stories that have a more open ending my mind just runs wild and thinks ahead, I’m also just a wild over thinker in general (also to selfishly give myself the ending I would want)🙈

I mean that man entered the room saying he was hers for the night and sure, she’s always his, but the connection when it’s not just one sided hits. Like you said, he probably didn’t even process how deep his feelings go, because that and wanting to hear her say his name, come on…👀 He is not picking up on anything, like man you’re so down bad right now. That’s not just something that means nothing like he kind of gave the vibe off when he didn’t answer her about if she meant anything, even though he kinda wanted to. If it meant nothing then he wouldn’t have wanted to be hers. The boy is unknowingly down bad and fumbled.

His face when he finds out would be absolutely wild and is deserved, lol. I’m not a fan of not telling someone irl, but it’s something I love in the fictional world, it creates such a build up for drama and having to talk things through, I’m a sucker for it.

It would be even funnier if it’s a few years later, and the kid wants to go karting (is that how you spell it? sorry!) and he thinks the reader maybe works there or something and she doesn’t correct him😭😭 I also imagine the reader to be crazy rich because of one of my favorite other tropes, is famous but no one knows, they know of her. It’d be funny too because he didn’t think of her in that world and she’s not but she kinda is, if that makes sense? I also just want him to realize how much he messed up, not that she would need all of that to show him how much he messed up.

I’m just going a little wild at this point, lol. Do you think they’d reconnect while he’s still a driver or after he’s done?

I always saw them reconnecting maybe no more than 5 years after. Something lowkey; not a crazy fanfic-y coincidence where they bump into each other getting coffee but more like maybe he reaches out? Or, to go off your karting idea, maybe he’s there one day helping out the kids and she decides to go just to see him after so long but ends up chatting?

If it’s the karting setting maybe the lil 5 year old is with her and he sees the kid and in his mind he’s like “damn…so much has changed and she has a kid now…I bet she’s taken” but as they talk, it comes out that she’s single and in his head he’s doing the math like ‘wait…the kid is 5…and 5 years ago we…’ and honestly how could he be so slow because those are literally his own eyes staring up at him under that ridiculous helmet that’s almost a size too big—
