Echo, baby, this is why we love you
Probably my favorite line in the finale, it's so simple but so powerful coming from him. Honestly kinda amazing that we got such a nice full-circle wrap up to his cross-series arc (especially after he was sidelined all season)
I was sad about not seeing as much of him when he left the Batch in season 2 of course, but I could never be mad because it was a choice that just made so much sense for his character. Seeing him fighting alongside Rex, rescuing Howzer, freeing all the clones in Tantiss, it’s just so clearly where he belongs. He’s been through so much and he’ll never stop fighting for his brothers

"Necromancer Heals the Holy Maiden" – TCF chapter 137
Ah, Mary & Hannah, my beloved girls!! 💖 I've been working on this fanart for so looooong, but I finally did it!! 🥳 There isn't nearly enough fanart of neither of these two, in my humble opinion. So, I decided to draw a scene with them, which I haven't seen drawn by anyone else yet. (...If someone has tho, please let me know, I'm curious!!)
In general, I feel that the significance of these two characters (three, including Jack) is severely overlooked by the fans. This was the moment which decided of the fate of the entire Mogoru Empire, and with it, the fate of basically the entire Western Continent.
If it wasn't for Mary helping the Sun Twins, they wouldn't have survived. If they didn't survive, they wouldn't be able to revolutionize the Church of the Sun God. And without that, the dark creatures would never become accepted again. In a single act, Mary changed the fate of all Dark Attribute users in the world. It's truly poetic, how a Necromancer managed to heal her very own natural enemy; and with it, and save countless other lives 💖

It’s so hard to seed these brackets because it’s hard to gauge how popular certain characters are and a lot of times tumblr surprises me

This may seem like a weird thing to ask but how do you write physical pain? I find I’m much better at writing emotional pain but physical pain is throwing me through a loop for whumptober lol. It’s ok if you don’t have an answer but I’m strugglin
Hmm yeah that’s a toughie. I’ll try and give you an explanation of my thought process, if that helps?
I usually start by drawing on ol’ reliable, which is basically just me drawing off experiences of pain that I’ve had, and also going “well if this was happening to me, how would I be feeling right now?”
Let’s take a broken arm for example. I’ve never broken my arm, or any bones for that matter, but I have overextended some parts of my body, and have had pretty bad bruises and things. Plus several of my siblings (and other people I know) have broken bones, so I draw off what I remember from what they’ve said or I’ve seen, and other media and stuff.
So I start there, and work around the rest. I know that breaking a bone is a very sudden and intense sort of pain, and it’s different from injuries where the skin gets broken and there’s blood involved (except of course, when the bone goes through the skin, but that’s right about where I get uncomfortable so we’re skipping that XD). I think about how it would feel if a bone in my arm was snapped, and what sensations would arise from that, other than just “OW”.
People who are in pain typically act a certain way, which depends on both the type/severity of the injury, their pain tolerance, and their individual personality, but for sudden, intense pain like breaking a bone (or being stabbed, or getting punched, trauma-y injuries like that) the response is usually the same.
Uneven breathing, clenching their teeth, drawing their hands into fists, or clutching at something/someone, generally staying very rigid like they’re afraid to move, and being very protective of the injured area, and flinching if touched. It differs, like I said, but if you know your characters you can probably guess pretty accurately how they’re going to react to pain.
Ah what else... using very sharp, harsh words to describe pain is good. Like stabbing, burning, piercing, all those bring to mind really intense sensations.
I also go for imagery a lot, like “It felt like fire running up his arm, concentrated near his elbow with a pain so intense it was like someone had placed a burning coal inside his arm”. I don’t usually go that flowery, but that’s just an example XD
I think that’s all I’ve got... oh! There’s a bit of a loophole I use actually, if I’m really having trouble with things like this. Ahem:
Write from the perspective of the person who isn’t in pain!
Write the POV of the friend who finds the guy with the broken arm, instead of the guy who actually broke it. That way you’re still technically writing about the pain, but from an outside perspective, which for me anyways, makes it a LOT easier to write. That’s more emotional pain too, because the person is dealing with seeing their friend in pain, and trying to help them through it while they find a solution. It’s a good loophole.
Hope that helps! If you managed to read all my rambling anyways XD
