the biggest juxtaposition of adam parrish is that he is, by habit and by nature, extremely practical in all things, except when it comes to his independence and pride, in which case he is often damnably impractical. and this must all come to a head when he starts planning his college essays. because adam is a planner, so he knows very well that he could vastly improve his chances by writing about going through poverty and child abuse and legal emancipation (all of which is, technically, public information following the trial). but also: he would not want to do that. he would, in fact, prefer to do quite literally anything else than (in his mind) invoke pity or tie his own achievements to his parents. on the other hand, he would do anything to go to college and wouldn't let his parents harm his chances any more. anyway he probably has another mental breakdown on the way to self growth and I think that's cool to think about

thinking about how the claudia theme only appears twice: when louis introduces her in the burning house, and at the very end when louis and lestat are talking about her final moments and mourning her together. but never directly when she appears on screen because all we know about her is through remembering and in past tense and in grief. and then realizing that the claudia theme IS the grief theme. and at the end of the hurricane scene, her theme fades out, the next second is when louis and lestar’s love theme comes in for the first time in 80 years. because what is grief if not love persevering and daniel hart is a genius and we all owe him our hearts 😭

It's very interesting that queen of tears is playing so hard into the "these characters were born to love each other" notion. It's repeatedly empathised (and although in a comedic vein) by haein and hyunwoo and in their inability to let each other go no matter how hard things get. At the same time with the flashbacks to how they were each other's first loves and how the osts really point to the two of them being the "one" for each other, it really speaks to how much these characters were meant to be in each other's lives, essentially soul mates, destined to be together.
What's refreshing though is that they said okay you two might be soul mates but that doesn't mean your relationship doesn't take work and that you are going to drift so far apart that it's going to feel like love no longer exists between the two of you. They said hey, being destined for each other and having to still put in the effort to make your relationship work are not mutually exclusive and should never be because that's not how the real world works. But hey, put in the effort, talk, listen, learn, and grow and you'll see why you two were born to love each other.

one of my favorite things about a lot of different musicals is when they have their opening number reprised in their finale, the same melody and lyrics having an entirely new meaning to them thanks to the context of the rest of the show.
and obviously there are a Ton of examples (Wicked, Come From Away, The Outsiders, SpongeBob... i know there are others i can't think of them), but there are two specific shows that I genuinely think are examples of the absolute best use of this.
to me, those two examples are Cabaret and The Great Gatsby.
like the other examples listed, each time this sort of thing happens, there is new meaning given to the same song thanks to the rest of the show happening in between, but both Cabaret and Great Gatsby have it in like... a very chilling way.
In Willkommen and Roaring On, these are both somewhat upbeat songs, introducing the club, the parties, the energy that the audience is Supposed to feel at this point. nothing else matters in the world, only the thrill of endless entertainment.
but this isn't what these shows are about. there are much darker stories going on underneath, and by the time we get to the finale, the audience is changed along with the characters - but the song is the same. Nothing else Matters. only the thrill of Endless Entertainment. We have No Troubles Here.
but another thing that i find so musically fascinating is that it's not just the audience's perception of the song that changes, no the music itself helps to drive the audience to those realizations. at the orchestra's break in Willlkommen (finale), it begins very similar to the opener, but gradually adds more and more dissonance, making it harder and harder to even bear listening to. In Roaring On (finale), the ensemble lines are just slightly more staccato, slightly more dissonance, slightly more unnerving to listen to.
it's just so fascinating to watch a musical, and have the same song mean something so incredibly different, just because of the context it exists within, and very slight musical changes.

Things I make for myself when insomnia kicks in
Just a chart about what I wanna change up and keep consistent in my art - I mainly wanna draw Raph with a tail because he deserves one, it fits too well. Donnie gets a long tail too because I didn’t realize how dino-like he looks until I gave him one, and now it’s a must for me haha.

When Will called Hannibal in Mizumono and told him to run away I think it was a compromise between the real Will and his person suit.
The person suit Will would have rushed to help Jack Crawford and never would have warned Hannibal.
The real Will would have taken the chance to finally be free. He would’ve betrayed Jack in an instant and ran away with Hannibal.
But he couldn’t commit to one side, to one choice, to one himself. So he tried to compromise - to not betray Jack and to save Hannibal his freedom.
“Can’t live with him, can’t live without him”
But it didn’t work how he hoped.
And when Hannibal left, with him left Will’s chance at freedom, of getting rid of the person suit and of having someone accept the real him. And Will was left in this suspended state, not quite the same as he was, but not fully changed either. And so he chased after Hannibal. He hoped when he found Hannibal he would finally make up his mind, to finally commit to either being Agent Will Graham or the monster beneath his person suit.
But it didn’t go according to plan. Will made the decision, he pulled out the knife, he was ready to go back to being the good Agent Will Graham - but Chiyoh shot him. Then Verger tried to kill them. Then Hannibal saved them and the decisive moment was lost. Will’s certainty was lost. He couldn’t choose, he couldn’t pick who he was. So he tried to stay neutral, to compromise again.
“Can’t live with him, can’t live without him”
It didn’t work. Hannibal made the choice for him.
After Hannibal gave himself up, he stayed far enough away that Will was able to stitch his person suit back up. Play pretend at a normal life. But he was still not quite here, not quite there but he was able to ignore the craving to escape from his person suit. At least for a while.
But then an opportunity presented itself to seem out Hannibal again. And Will jumped at it.
“Can’t live with him, can’t live without him”
In even the brief time next to Hannibal his old indecisiveness came and the struggle between tearing apart his person suit or keeping himself locked away inside it came back stronger than ever.
And only in the final moments he finally commits. He takes his person suit off. And he admits
“It’s beautiful”

Trying to contain myself and I just can't. I can't stop thinking about this scene and it has me in fucking shreds
The way he fishes for the word "wife,'' trying to translate what he was to this other alien into human language. Explaining that his wife's passing is what drove him to abandon his planet. And then the almost exuberant way he he says "It is now." This is probably the first time he has contextualized his grief this way, as mourning for someone he loved, and the first time he's processed how much his mate's death hurt him.
What's so interesting about this is that Harry clearly frame's his motivation for coming to Earth as a result of grief. However, he made that decision BEFORE assuming human form and allegedly gaining emotion for the first time. I think it's more likely that Harry- and his entire species- do feel emotion to at least some capacity. However, whether it is because of societal pressure to be stoic or because of a literal difference in brain structure, they are not as conscious of their emotions. It doesn't mean emotions don't factor into their decision making, but that they don't acknowledge its influence (much the same way patriarchal society frames men as being more rational and less emotional in their decision making, and a man will confidently assert this even as he throws the biggest tantrum).
And here Harry is, being able to finally process and realize how much emotion HAS influenced him. And the look on his face, on the verge of tears and yet also joyful, because accepting loss also means accepting that there was something to lose in the first place, it means feeling the shape of your heart for the first time only because there is a massive hole in it.
