Having to block everyone who has "wincest dni" in their bio not because I ship wincest (because I have come to the conclusion that I actually don't) but because I do think it'd be fun to poke around at the very real weirdness of their relationship that I've noticed in the show so far. Steve goes to a gay club for the first time alone. He and Robin, they'd talked about it since moving to Chicago, but every time they made plans he got cold feet.

But on a random, rainy Saturday with Robin back home in Hawkins, he decides fuck it, puts on his sluttiest jeans and polo, and goes to the damn club. He's sick of being nervous--he's going to make out with a guy for the first time tonight.

The club is crowded, loud, sweaty, the energy a pulsing wave. He's overwhelmed immediately, but it's invigorating. He pushes towards the bar, orders a beer, then cozies himself against the nearest wall.

He sips his drink and watches beautiful men dance and kiss and play, and he wants to be part of it, get out there, find his own person to get close to but--

What if none of this is for him? He feels out of place in his clothes, with his hairstyle, an old version of himself that doesn't belong in this world.

There's a swell of sound at the bar, and he glances over, expecting drunks or fighting. Instead, he sees a guy who makes his plans to leave slip straight from his mind.

He's unlike any other person there, even within his group. Long, curly hair, visible tattoos, ripped black jeans, a faded black t-shirt under a big leather jacket. He moves with purpose and grace, obviously uncaring about fitting in.

Steve can't stop watching him, transfixed. He buys another beer, settles back against his wall. He knows it's weird, but can't bring himself to care. Not when it's helping him feel more comfortable in his own skin.

The guy, he's vibrant, the brightest spot, his laughter reaching Steve even over the pounding music.

He's beautiful.

The lights flash, illuminating his face and recognition hits Steve like a fist. It's Eddie Munson, former freak of Hawkins High.

Steve's spine straightens, chest tightening. He can't believe--I mean there were rumors about Eddie in school, but he's here, right now, in Chicago, and Steve--Steve--

He abandons the remains of his beer, rushing out the door.

Steve goes back the next night.

He doesn't mean to; didn't have any plans to do it, but the clock turns to 9 and he pulls on the same slutty jeans, this time with an old blue t-shirt a size too small.

It's not because Eddie could be there again, he reassures himself as he shows the bouncer his ID. It's not like he wants to see him or has been thinking about him nonstop. No, it's because tonight's the night he finally makes a move. He needed a test run to find his footing, but now--

Eddie's at the bar. His hair is pulled up, loose tendrils around his face. No jacket this time; the rolled up sleeves of his black t-shirt showing off his wiry muscles, the swirling ink of his tattoos. Something low and hot clenches in Steve's stomach.

There's no way he's going to be preoccupied with Munson tonight. He came here to flirt and dance and maybe get lucky, and he'll ignore Eddie. He will.

Steve orders a beer, sits at the bar this time, his eyes lingering on black ink and pale skin. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to tear his eyes away from the ease and assurance Eddie moves with. He's so unafraid to take up space, it's intoxicating.

He loses track of Munson when he orders a second drink, his face no longer immediately visible in the crowd. Disappointment sinks his stomach until a voice to his left says, "You better be planning to buy me a drink, pretty boy."

The voice is low, oddly melodic, and he turns to find Eddie Munson's sparkling brown eyes gazing down at him. He's surprised, hides it, says, "Sure. What are you having?"

Eddie's mouth opens, but his eyes narrow. "Wait--Steve Harrington??"

"Um." His mouth goes dry. "Munson. Hi?"

"I--uh--wouldn't think this was your scene." Eddie shifts back, puts distance between them, and Steve hates it. Hates that Munson thinks the space is necessary, hates that he used to a person that made people feel that way.

"Yeah, well. A lot has changed since high school."

"Is that right? Surely not this much."

"Wouldn't you like to know."

Eddie's eyebrow lifts, but his mouth is a tight line. "Have a cigarette with me."

Steve nods and follows him out a side door into a narrow alley. Eddie pulls out two cigarettes, hands one to Steve. There's something about the cold politeness that sends a fizzle of disappointment down his spine.

"What brings you here?" Eddie asks.

"To Chicago or to this club?"

"Don't be cute."

"Can't help it." He smirks and Eddie rolls his eyes. "I moved to Chicago three months ago with my best friend, Robin. I'm at this club trying to explore my bisexuality."

Eddie's in the middle of taking a drag, splutters on the smoke. "Holy Shit."

He shrugs, knows he's blushing. "What can I say? I've spent the last few years learning about myself."

"And one of the things was that you like dick?"

"Looks like it."

'Well, goddamn, Steve Harrington."

"Impressed?"

Eddie licks his lips, steps closer. "Maybe I am."

"I aim to please." Steve lets himself grin.

"I bet you do," Eddie's voice goes even lower, and heat dances deep in Steve's stomach. "Wanna dance?"

"Thought you'd never ask." Steve blinks up at Eddie from under his eyelashes.

They go inside and join the bodies packed on the dance floor. At first, they keep their distance, dancing and laughing with an arm's length between them, but it's not long before they're drawn together, arms twining, legs pressed together. Their eyes lock, Steve can't look away, wouldn't even if he wanted to. Eddie's hands go to his waist, pull him closer.

"You're gorgeous, Harrington," he says it with his lips pressed to Steve's ear, goosebumps spreading across his skin.

"Yeah?"

"Can I tell you a secret?"

"Of course."

Eddie's mouth presses closer. "I used to have the biggest crush on you in high school."

"Fuck, Eddie," he says. "That's so--"

"Weird?"

"Fucking hot, dude."

"Can I tell you another secret?" Eddie's voice is all rumble.

"Course,"

"I can't stop thinking about kissing you."

"You could do something about it."

Eddie smiles, eyes going darker, almost predatory. He leans in, their breath mingling, Steve's hitching.

"You sure you want me to?" Eddie asks, mouth barely brushing Steve's.

"Please," and it comes out like he's been punched.

He thinks the kiss will be hard, hot, but Eddie's hand is gentle as it cups the back of his head, slowly pulls him in. It's a soft meeting of mouths, almost tender. His head is swimming, blood thrumming low and hot and sweet. He parts his lips and then all he can feel, taste, sense is Eddie.

It cracks something inside him, and his fingers dig into the fabric of Eddie's shirt, eagerly licking into his mouth. It must crack something in Eddie too, because he's hauling Steve impossibly closer until his legs have to wrap around Eddie's waist, or they're falling.

They break apart with a breathless laugh, both red cheeked and bright eyed. They don't move apart, instead they dance and make out until the music stops and the lights come up.

Eddie twines their fingers together as they walk to the exit, Steve sweaty and elated and a little head over heels.

Out on the sidewalk, basking in the cool air, Eddie stops him. "Can I--uh, take you for a drink? Or back to my place? I don't--not to assume, but I--"

"Both. Anywhere," Steve laughs. "I don't want this night to end."

Eddie's smile is brilliant, heart stopping. "Your wish is my command."

Inho is laying under the bunks, trying to get as much sleep in as possible but is awoken by a laugh, wait no there's two people laughing. He's curious at who would be awake other than Gihun who volunteered to keep watch. He finds himself shifting slightly to get a view and he sees Jung Bae sitting rather closely to Gihun, both with big smiles on their faces as they reminiscent about their pasts together. Inho knows he shouldn't care, should just look away but he can't, a nasty feeling gnarling away at his chest. He'd be lying to himself if he said that he wasn't jealous and he can't help but be upset for even allowing that emotion to overcome him.

When he first saw Gihun those 2 years prior at the games he was nothing special, just another player until the games progressed and he proved to be different. The way Gihun held himself, the dedication, commitment to helping others even when his own life was at stake, he was truly human but instead of wanting to reward it he wanted to tear the man down. Finding out that Gihun had spent so much time and money to find him made his heart skip a beat, he was sick for wanting Gihun to find him, for letting him find him but he could careless. He remembers the way he held his breath when Gihun entered the car before the start of the new game, how eager and determined he was to go back in not knowing that he was entering THEIR new game. Inho was already one step ahead and Gihun already lost.

He laid there silently waiting for the telltale sign of Jung Bae getting up and heading to his bunk before soft snores are heard. Inho slides himself out from under the bunk and walks silently up to Gihun and puts a hand on his shoulder a little more firmly than necessary making the man jump slightly before smiling up at him. "I'm going to take watch, you should get some sleep." Inho says quietly and all the other man can do is nod before standing up and making his way back to his own top bunk where he settles in quietly. Inho can't help but get lost in his thoughts while keeping watch, still simmering on the jealousy from the two friends fondness of each other, he tries to distract himself from it but can't help when he finally boils over.

Gihun lays in his bunk, the room oddly quiet besides a few snores as he finds himself drifting to sleep until he hears someone climbing to ladder to his bed. He sits up ready to strike until he sees who it is, Inho staring at him, faces merely inches apart before he chuckles at him. "You scared me, what're you doing up here?" But Inho doesn't reply, doesn't even so much as smile. The man continues to fully pull himself onto Gihuns bed before shoving his back down onto the bed forcefully and stares down at Gihun who just looks back up dumbfounded. "Inho, what's wrong? Did something happen?" He's looking up at him frantically, a cold chill going down his spine at the emotionless look he's still getting back. He goes to sit up and shove Inho off of him but is met with two hands grabbing both his wrists and pinning them to the bed and his body straddling him fully so he's unable to move. "Did I do someth-" He's cut off when a soft pair of lips roughly slam into his own, he's stunned and doesn't reciprocate at first but soon gives in.

After what feels like a decade Inho pulls away but doesn't move to far, he stares down at him again and takes one of his hands away only to rub it down Gihun cheek in a almost sickly sweet manner but roughly grabbing ahold of his throat, tight enough to cause some panic but loose enough for him to breathe shallowly. "Youre so beautiful like this, so pliant, letting me use you like some whore." I know I should be angry at the words but all they do is send heat straight into Gihuns cock and he finds himself trying to grind into Inho. "Oh, you like that? Fucking slut, are you desperate for every mans cock or just mine?" He lets go of Gihuns throat so he can answer properly. "Just you, only you please help me." He still continues to try to grind into the man on top of him til he's met with a slap across the face, the feeling making him stop completely. Warriors teases Legend and Ravio for being "roommates", but then they both stop everything and shoot everyone down and explain how they "can't mention this sort of thing here" and how "Fable's done with it, but she can't do anything about the law until she's queen" and Legend tries to really hammer in the severity of the punishment for being caught acting gay.

Does this fic exist?? No one I ask can think of any about this even remotely. If it doesn't, anyone can take this idea. I can't write, but I crave this fic.

Legend stopped abruptly.

Warriors missed the murderous aura sent his way, and shrugged with a smile.

Maybe the screech was a little much, but Legend couldn't shake the fear that someone might hear Warriors. He already got enough shit for his lifestyle, a rumor like that could send the guards to his head again.

The rest of the chain had stopped as well, all looking at the argument.

Warriors seemed shocked, and a little insulted, too.

It was getting overwhelming, being stared at like that.

Legend sighed and grabbed the captain by the sleeve.

“ - A minute ! ” he barked to the others, dragging Warriors behind him, away from anyone who might hear.

When he estimated that they were far enough, he checked around them to be sure that no unwelcome ear was close.

“ - Damn, vet, I'm sorry for teasing, but that seems a little excessive, don't you think ? ” Warriors declared, rubbing his wrist.

The word made Legend frown. Excessive ? He turned around to glare at the captain.

“ - I don't know if it's funny to you, ” he prefaced with, " but I'm not exactly liked by the castle guards. Saying those types of things can send me straight to execution, alright ? ”

Warriors paled at the word, visibly not expecting such a heavy topic.

“ - What ? What do you mean ? ”

Legend took a deep breath.

“ - They already find excuses to get me when I behave, ” he explained slowly, intelligibly. “ If there's a word on the street that I'm committing a crime, that won't go well for me. ”

Legend didn't know how to explain it better than that but the captain didn't look like he got it. He was frowning and blinking in utter confusion.

“ - What crime ? ” he asked, weirded out.

...That wasn't the thing Legend expected him to be confused about.

“ - Loving a man, ” he said, frowning.

Another silence.

“ - You know, loving a man when you’re a man ? ” he clarified, just in case.

" - Are you saying that homosexuality is a crime ?! " Warriors exclaimed in revolt, way too loud.

Legend shushed him hurriedly.

That shut the veteran up, who definitely didn’t think that the conversation would go that way.

But he only found profound honesty.

“ - That’s… ”

That was great, right ? They had established that it was probable Warriors’ time came after Legend’s.

It meant that things had changed. It was good.

He was, in fact, actively trying to make things change in his time. Fable already promised him that revising this law was one of her biggest priorities as soon as she’d get properly crowned, but she’d probably face disapproval from most of the stuck-up nobles and so it’ll take time, and...

In the meantime, Legend was stuck with pretending his lover was a roommate, being scared to even hold his hand in public, abruptly changing his behavior everytime someone knocked at the door.

And that was the problem, wasn’t it ? He really was glad for the future to not have to deal with this fear.

He was just bitter that that was what he got.

(He was just tired of only being allowed forbidden love.)

“ - Wait, I don’t, I don’t get it, ” Warriors stuttered, still looking so puzzled. “ I’ve met… I mean, wait. ”

He stopped, joining his two hands in front of his lips, visibly trying to phrase his thoughts a certain way.

“ You know the war of eras involved a lot of time-traveling fighters, right ? Well, one of my allies came from your time, and he was definitely married to a man. ”

Legend arched a brow at him, reluctant to believe him.

“ - How can you be sure he came from this time in particular ? Maybe he came from a few decades in the future, who can tell. ”

Warriors looked like he had bitten inside a lemon for a second, and then he closed his eyes, struggling to find his words.

“ - Listen, I just, I know, ok ? He mentioned... People you know. And before you ask, ” he quickly added as Legend opened his mouth with a frown, “ I’m not going to tell you more than that. But trust me, alright, vet ? Things will get better sooner than you think. ”

Legend shrugged, but it did feel good to hear. He tried a smile.

“ - Well, that’s great, then, ” he declared. He finally got up, dusting up his tunic. “ But it doesn’t actually change anything. The type of comments you made earlier ? You keep them to yourself, here. ”

Warriors nodded slowly, something like stifled revolt and sadness in the movement. Legend didn’t feel like addressing it.

It was great that the captain felt so strongly about the subject, in this direction at least. It was also not the place… And definitely not the time.

“ Good, then, ” he commented. “ I still want to go home quick, so if we could get moving… ”

Warriors’ nod was way more sympathetic.

“ - Of course, ” he said. “ I still want to meet this Ravio. He looks like he makes you happy. ”

Legend jerked his head towards him, his warning expression not entirely devoid of amusement. Warriors raised both his hands in peace.

“ He sounds like a great friend, is all I’m saying ! ”

And it did get a little chuckle out of Legend.

“ - Oh, he is, ” he declared with a smile. “ I’m afraid you two will get along swimmingly. ”

Warriors laughed, clapping him on the shoulder as he passed by.

When they got back to the rest of the group, the curious gazes sent their way were soothed by the fact that they were both smiling.

Legend’s smile was actually getting wider and wider, as they were getting close to his house.

When he saw it on its little hill, he rushed to the door, trying not to bounce on his feet as he waited for his partner to open.

And if Warriors observed from afar as they fell in each other’s arms, he waited until they were all in the privacy of Legend’s house to wink teasingly at their veteran. After all, he never denied having a crush, which was telling for 'mister I'll never confirm what I don't want you to know'.

It was easy to feel lighter about this story when he knew it'll end well for the couple.

They just had to wait a little longer.

I genuinely don't understand why anybody (besides Jensen) is excited at the idea of more Supernatural. If they do bring it back it'll just be more of the same. It'll be worse than the finale, I guarantee it. It'll be written by the same shitty writers and directed by the same shitty directors and produced by the same boring old straight white paycheck-cashing producers. Misha either won't be in it at all or he'll be in it just enough for them to make a joke of his goodbye scene. I guarantee if the confession gets mentioned at all it'll be a one-scene awkward brush off with the cheesy its-a-joke! no homo! comedy segue music behind it. They'll have Cas and Dean both act embarrassed and agree to never mention it again and then cough bacon cough football cough guns haha oh no we're being attacked by monsters! Here's a shitty ten minute fight scene to fill time so we don't have to talk about this gay shit anymore! Seriously. It'll be a boring cringe fest, directed by Bob Singer. Just like the finale. But longer. NOTHING has changed in the three years since the show ended. Nothing. If it comes back it'll just be more of the same. You remember how Andrew Dabb said at Comic Con the year before the show ended "if you hated the end of Game of Thrones just wait!" and people thought he was joking? Yeah. That. But "if you hated the SPN ending just wait til you see the garbage we haven't got planned for the short season streaming reboot!" Oh you thought it couldn't get any worse than the finale? Just wait til you see what they can't do with an even LOWER budget now that all the white dudes involved are even OLDER and have LESS time to make it! You thought The Winchesters special effects were embarrassingly bad? Just wait! You thought we couldn't possibly treat Misha Collins any worse? Just wait!

I have to agree with you anon. As much as little day dreamer me would love a new season (or at least a better epilogue) where Cas returns, Dean declares his love, they get married a go live in a white picket fence house, we WON'T.

so I would honestly keep living in "fix-it" land where marvellous authors and artists give us the ending we all hoped for and deserved, but not get canon ruin it even more for us :(

Ongoing Series - Thai

Cherry Magic (Sat YouTube grey) ep 9 of 12 - I broke. In my defense, it was Monday, I needed comfort, and TayNew were right tf there. Ya know what? They are great in this show. It's a great adaptation. I might like it more than the JBL live action. You know why? Really, honestly WHY...?

That was a PHENOMENAL KISS. Those boys did Thailand fucking proud. They did fandom a solid. Thank you OGs for reminding us how it's done. I was getting used to SloppyHot. And SloppyHot has its place, but that TayNew rooftop kiss was a top tear class act. It was tender and sweet and respectful and joyful. It was eye work and breath work and years of practice. How very far BL has come while still staying so much the same. TayNew - I salute you!

The Sign (Sat YT) ep 12fin - we waiting, I guess? Bah.

Cooking Crush (Sun YT) ep 11 of 12 - The recipe book thing was so damn cute and I love a claiming. YOU KNOW I LOVE A CLAIMING!

In fact, I love OffGun.

I adored seeing a reboot of "the infamous dragging". 

But I don’t love anything else about this show. Sigh.

1000 Years Old ep 1 of 12 - Finally we get our gay vampire BL from Feel Good Bangkok. Stars Shane (My Engineer) and fresh face Opal, directed by Champ (2gether). It’s kind of odd but enjoyable. A group of teen UFO seekers find a vampire instead. Opal looks a bit like a mix between Newnu + Leo (VIXX) - so cute + edge. Also, nice to see Shane again on our screens after so long. 

Finally, I like the subtle (and sometimes not subtle) presence of ghosts permeating this show. Do the friends know she's there? Do they know she's dead? Is the existence of paranormal accepted but not that of aliens? Or are the two combined? Is this lazy writing or just fun world building? Who cares! It's enjoyable.

For Him (Thurs iQIYI) ep 12fin - the nail painting bit was very cutie queers and I've not seen it done in BL before, so that was nice. For some reason captions never dropped for me on this last episode, but it didn’t really matter. Not much happened and I understood everything anyway.

Quick pitch?

From the people who brought us Unforgotten Night based on a y-novel, about a young man nursing a heartbreak who has a one-night stand, but the other boy didn't want it to end. This turned out to be a pulp that wasn’t half as good as it should have been and even less memorable, but not terrible. 5/10 DON'T BOTHER unless you're v bored

City of Stars (Fri iQIYI) ep 3 of 12 - Oh it is such a pulp: the acting is not good and the script is terrible. Of course, I’m mildly enjoying it. Very good dream kissing. There's something appealing about these main characters - I think it's the moot crushes. We rarely get to see that. These days everything feels very one sided, this... isn't.

A Secretly Love (Thai WeTV) - Khonprot, a third-year hazer of the engineering faculty, has a secret crush on Pluem, a tsundere fourth-year head hazer. Over the years, he's seen Pluem cycle through girlfriends. Recently, after a public breakup, however, Khonprot thinks maybe a boy has a chance.

I tried but I can't get into my WeTV account anymore and I'm way too lazy to figure it out. I'll catch it grey if I can, since I've rebooted the bootlegging side of my BL life for Cherry Magic anyway.

So this show may stay in this section, or I may bump it down to "it's airing but..."

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Love For Love's Sake (Korea Weds iQIYI) 7-8fin - Ugh it was GREAT, despite some pretty telling flaws. I ended up feeling like some of the filming was amateurish (very overworked low angles - director's first feature, I assume), and the narrative is a little disjoined and on the nose, AND the subs are clumsy (which I don't expect from KBL) BUT I still loved it. (FYI - I wouldn't be so harsh on a BL for this kinda thing except one from Korea.)

Quick pitch:

This isekai-based KBL is about a man who must win a game by convincing a reserved teen outcast to fall in love with him. Of course, that teen represents himself and his own unhappiness. Like many queer narratives, this show is actually about self worth, trust, and found family, and it is VERY on the nose. But I don’t expect subtlety from my BL and I enjoyed it's truly lovely redemption arc and earnest performances. While I found the narrative a touch disjointed with overworked filming angles and poorer than average captions, this is certainly much better than early KBL in terms of consistency of tone, script, and immersion. Highly rewatchable and charming, which counts for a lot. 9/10

Perfect Propose (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 4 of 6 - Gosh, it’s so lovely. But I do just constantly want to give them both hugs. 

AntiReset (Taiwan Fri Viki/Gaga) ep 4 of 10 - Oh look, Taiwan has created yet another BL where I spend most of the time watching it grinning like an idiot. Surprise surprise. The pet name thing was fucking adorable. Also Taiwan once more proving they come by their "kings of kissing" title honestly. I mean to say. In a week of good kisses this one was just... WOW.

On the other hand, some of the underpinning themes are starting to v worry me (ownership, consent, age), and we only just got started, and I don't trust this production company so... I have concerns.

But also... YAY KISSES!

Although I Love You and You AKA Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 6 of 10 - Like many other shows on this list. I just enjoy it the most when the two leads are on screen together. So this episode was kind of lacking because they were apart for most of it. I also am starting to agree with the tone of the plot, that maybe they ARE better off as friends not lovers. (And I'm sure I'm not supposed to want that.) Oh Japan, must you?

My Strawberry Film (Japan Gaga) ep 1 of 8 - Oh it’s good. In the arthouse lane so don’t expect sweetness & light or an HEA. If there’s no cartoon aspect to a JBL, there’s usually no joy. But it is certainly good. Teens uncover some old film and a mystery around a pretty girl. The background music is wildly annoying (and rarely in the background).

Playboyy (Thurs Gaga) 14 eps - Dear Playboyy, it's not you, it’s me… I hate you. You’re about as deep (and as palatable) as a shot glass of cum. While I'm sure you’re someone’s kink, you're my weakest link. Goodbye. I DNFed this at ep 5. Frankly I'm impressed with myself for getting that far.

Time the series (Tue Gaga/YT) 10 eps - dropped it at ep 4.

2/24 Unknown (Taiwan Youku) 12 eps - Older brother tough guy breadwinner looks after his sister and defacto adopted little brother. Little bother falls in love with him and is sent away after a stolen kiss. But when he comes back…

Sam Lin has a cameo so even if I wasn't already excited, I'm in. We should be on our guard though, Taiwan will occasionally go edgy, dark, and sad... this could go there.

One assumes GMMTV is filling in the BL time slot with something queer on their YT Channel after Cooking Crush ends, they gonna lose subs if they don't. But I've not been paying attention to the chatter so I don't know which of their line-up it will be. I think G4 are filming/off radar now, and Earth is in that het noona thing? Plus they gotta sort out the IP for MIx-Up and Ossen. So it won't be one of the announced adaptations. They'll hold My Golden Blood for the high season, so I think it'll be one of the lesser known lead-outs. Wandee or Only Boo maybe? But they only just started filming those. Are we getting our long awaited GL? Anything else left from 2023 that I forgot about?

1. 4 Minutes 🇹🇭 (1/8)

The first episode was interesting. The second couple just stole the show for me. It was... yeah... It was intense. And because I can't watch it in HD there are no gifs from my side. But in my mind I did some. I am really interested how the story will progress. I haven't seen the trailer, I am just going in blind and this is exciting! But please give Fuaiz a happy ending! I am still not over the DFF ending...

2. Bad Guy 🇰🇷 (2/4)

Our bad guy from Blue Boys is back with his own little show. And it is good. I like it. Riu is getting married soon, but before that he gets in contact with his ex-partner and old feelings are coming back to the surface. And yes, I think he is the bad guy. But I understand him. He feels like he has no other choice and can't live a happy life being a gay guy in a relationship with another man. I am really looking forward to how this will end!

3. Century of Love 🇹🇭 (7/10)

This series is really good! I was hooked in today's episode. The tension was really good and I can't wait to get to know how this all turns out. What will happen next week? Even though I knew Vad was the bad one, I am really curious which role she is really playing. And I really felt heartbroken for Vee and San. Such a good story! Damn!

4. Hidamari ga Kikoeru 🇯🇵 (6/12)

I love them. I want to watch it again and again. It feels just so... real. So relatable. So honest. So raw. The struggle Taichi has to understand and accept his feelings for Kohei is so good to watch. He is so happy whenever he sees Kohei or speaks about him and I love his friends, who I guess, already can tell Taichi likes Kohei, but they just let him discover this on his own and are just there for him, poking him a little bit in the right direction. Oh I love this series so much!

5. His Man Season 3 🇰🇷 (12/14)

Okay, the new episodes were not as bad as the previous ones. I still don't get why everyone is crying and Jaeseung's whiny behavior because he can't get a date with Seongmin is a little bit annoying, but okay. The dates were okay. I think it is interesting that there are so many "couples", and I am curious who can stay in contact after the show and who become a real couple in the end. I don't feel it that much, but who knows how they feel.

6. I Saw You In My Dream 🇹🇭 (2/12)

I started a new series... Yay for me and my wednesdays 😭But this one really looks promising. I haven't heard of it that much and just blindly started watching. So Ai dreams and his dreams come true and he dreams he has his first time with Yu, his neighbour, who usually teases him and it is really cute. Not the first time, but the story so far.

7. My Love Mix-Up! 🇹🇭 (6/12)

I see so many posts from people not liking this one and I am sitting here enjoying most of this story. I don't compare it to anything. i just enjoy some awkward fluff and the cringe that comes with it. And I think the casting is quite good. I don't have the strongest feeling for the japanese original. I really enjoyed it and it is a great series, but I think the thai one is entertaining too and the chemistry between those two is still there. This epsiode we had a cute date and they finally progressed a little bit in their relationship-state and holding hand, which is now causing problems.

8. Takara no Vidro 🇯🇵 (5/11)

Still get some stalker-vibes from this one. But it is okay. Taishin slowly realises he likes Takara. It is kinda cute. And you can tell me what you want, but Takara is already very smitten by his little stalker friend. But it was a cute episode with them helping the little kid finding back home.

9. The Trainee 🇹🇭 (5/10)

Jane is nice to Ryan. I like it. Jane opens up to Ryan. I like it. Ryan smiles like a little sunshine because Jane is nice to him. I like it. I like this series. It is such a feel good show and OffGun are really good! And the side stories are interesting as well! Such a good sunday-watch!

10. Word of Honor 🇨🇳 (20/36)

Those two flirt a lot and are a married couple. Everyone knows that. And I love and enjoy that! Overall this is such a fun watch and the different sects and intrigues are sometimes a little bit confusing, but interesting. I love this world of martial arts and I love how protective Wen Kexing is over Zhou Zishu. I haven't felt like watching this lately. I wasn't in the right mood.

Blue Boys Part 2 🇰🇷

Okay, we got our happy ending. I always say you can have feelings for other people when you are in a relationship. That is normal. And I am totally on Namyi's side when he asked Jaemin to trust him and to talk to him about such things. Keeping it a secret, especially when something happend, is not good. So I am happy both found their happy ending with each other and Jaemin finally allowed himself to be loved by Namyi. Over all for this second part I give a 7 out of 10.

My Stand-In 🇹🇭

Isn't it wholesome when everybody gets a happy ending in the end? Hm. Not really. Tong shouldn't have got his redemption. He should have ended up alone. Ming's dad should suffer because he finally lost his son, while the son is thriving on love. This last episode was really just a very long happy ending. And for most parts I really enjoyed it! After all the pain and the tears and the toxicity, there was finally wholesome shit on my screen! Overall it was a good show, not my favorite, but it was very much watchable. I give it 7 out of 10.

Wandee Goodday 🇹🇭

What a let down with the last episodes. This series started out so strong. The Vibe was so cool with casual sex and asexuality representation and after a few episodes... pufff... nothing. Kao has just a few scenes and when he was on camera, he was just a supporting act for Dee to get back with Yak or to think about his emotions. But his storyline was just left aside and squeezed back in the last episode, because they needed this closure... Oye never had to deal with any consequences for his actions. He just paid and now they live happily ever after... come on. Cher loves him, but this is such a big deal that I wished there was a little bit less product placement for them and some real talking about the whole stuff. And Dee and Yak. I love GreatInn together, but the script did them dirty! Yak became such a puppy, and Dee was confused and surprised all the time. And those open love expressions! I really don't like them! Especially when you have the main character telling people he can't be in a same-sex-relationship because of the media and his reputation... aha... sure... And this whole Ter gets his redemption in the end... Fuck that guy! He don't deserve anything! Just let him be miserable and alone in the end! He played with everyone! And don't get me started on the break-up-idea... Just talk about stuff and perhaps think about shit before it is almost too late! Oh, I am a little pissed... Overall I gave it 6,5 out of 10, but perhaps in the future I change it... The story was really not that strong and every little piece of problem was solved in the last episode and that just felt wrong! And it is wrong! You can't cure such a big trauma which includes halucinations just with love and some good words! No! I correct myself, I give this 5 out of 10...

The Boyfriend 🇯🇵

We've got our Happy Ending! Not just for Shun and Dai, but also for Alan and Kazuto. Now I am curious how life played for the contestants and I am looking forward to the reunion, which I won't be able to understand, because it will air in the Netflix Japan Youtube Channel without subtitles... Well, I wait for the fan-translations. I just wish all of them are happy! And my thoughts during this last moments of the show: AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy. And I give this show a 10 out of 10.

We Are 🇹🇭

I am really glad I waited with this one to binge-watch it. So I dodn't have to wait that long for the next episode. It was such a fun watch. There was nothing much happening, and yet it was very entertaining. We just saw friends getting together, having a good time, developing new feelings for each other and facing every day problems. I was quite surprised how well it was written and how much I liked it in the end. I give it 9 out of 10.

Looking out at the crowd of thousands of people, people that have specifically come out to see them, people that choose to watch them while waiting for other bands. While not headlining, they or the fourth to last band playing the mainstage. They had lost their collective shit when the timetable got announced and they got to basically open for Metallica. Only Electric Callboy and a tbn band between them. The other headlining band had dropped out the evening before due to health related reasons. That morning the festival organisers had tweeted about finding a replacement but had decided to keep it a secret. 

They only have a couple of songs from their set left. “ We are Corroded Coffin and want to thank you for taking the time to watch us! Are you all excited for Electric Callboy and the metal Gods METALLICA?!” He grins wildly at hearing the crowd screaming and whooping. “I want to thank everyone here for making this the best birthday I've ever had! A quarter of a century old! Can you believe it? I can't think of anything better to do than play for all of you beautiful freaks!!!” 

“ Oh I know one thing” He turns his head to look at Gareth, leaning awkwardly towards the microphone “Enlighten me Garebear, what could possibly be better than this?” Gareth grins like a lunatic “ Well Teddy, I'm so glad you asked. What would be the icing on this day would be for a doe eyed, and I quote ‘ most beautiful man alive, sculpted by Aphrodite herself, i want to lick and kiss every mole’ guy wearing a pale yellow oversized sweater, mom jeans and glasses to single and gay or bisexual. So if you fit that description of or know who does, Eddie Munson is horny for your ‘perfectly biteable ass’.” He and Jeff and Freak cackle along with the roaring laughter of the crowd. Eddie blushes and huffs “Yeah yeah, I hope you all chock!” 

The rest of their set goes off without a hitch. They take a selfie with the crowd before leaving the stage. They make it back to their designated dressing/green room, feeling on top of the world. “Find Eddie's mystery hottie is trending. Everyone and their mum is sending in pictures of people in yellow sweaters. It's insane! Gareth you made us go viral” Jeff says as he's scrolling on his phone.

“For once your sluttish ways have done more good than getting your dick wet” Freak comments as he flops down on the couch sighing in relief. Eddie glares at his friends as he grabs a bottle of water “ Why am I friends with you shitheads again?” Gareth slaps his back “Because you really love us?” Jeff hums loud “Oh god listen to this @HailMadMax, Jesus this guy sounds more full of him than you says ‘eeeww, I never want someone describing my Mom's ass like that again @CorrodedCoffinOfical’. 

”You sure he was a guy?” Eddie nods “yes! I'm absolutely sure ""Because I got a few other users saying something along the same lines.” Freak snorts “I think they are just having fun with it or are homophobic” 

Eddie spends the next hour and a half jus relaxing, smoking a joint and eating greasy festival food. He's on his way to catch the last part of Electric Callboy’s set when he bumps into a petite girl with Strawberry blonde hair wearing a hot pink hoodie and a black jeans. “I'm so sorry I wasn't……holy shit! You're… you're Chrissy Cunningham.” Eddie looks at her with wide, star struck eyes. 

Chrissy smiles “It's fine, I forgot how cramped it can be back here. Yeah I am. And you're Eddie. I'm a big fan! Much to Bill's chagrin on some days.” She looks down at her phone. “Speaking of the devil, look, I gotta go. But I'll see you in a bit, yeah?” She hugs him before speed walking away. He's left speechless as he watches her go. The Mind Flayers was the first ever band he got to see live at thirteen with Gareth and his uncle. Steve Harrington, their frontman and bass player was his bisexual awakening. And his first real crush. 

As a matter of fact, six years prior, The Mind Flayers were one of the four main headliners. They had gotten tickets to see them play, but as fate would have it they cancelled at the last minute, citing a medical emergency and had disappeared from the music scene until a few months ago when out of nowhere they not only dropped a single but a dubbele album. Listen it wasn't a best off, a remastered previous album or a live album. No, they were twenty-eight new songs. All of their social media channels suddenly started posting and interacting with comments and other people's posts. It was surreal and broke the metal corner of the internet. He had heard some chatter and theories about TMF being the mystery band but didn't give them much credit, but now. His mind was going into overdrive as he went looking for Gareth, completely forgoing watching EC. 

He finds Gareth facetiming with his girlfriend and their two year old son. “Hey Sammy, look it's Uncle Teddy, say Hi” Eddie narrowly avoids getting the phone smashed against his nose “ Hey Sammy, my favourite little Hobbit.” He talks for a few minutes with the toddler, and spends another fifteen minutes waiting for Gareth to hang up. He feels like he's vibrating out of his skin, patience was not his forte. he starts fidgeting with his rings before pulling out his phone and goes to check TMF's twitter to see if they tweeted before checking to see if they are trending and anyone has seen any other members somewhere backstage but he only finds one of two posts about people seeing Chrissy. “What's gotten into you? Please tell me you didn't snort something or take some sketchy pills from an even sketchier person” Gareth glares at him 

“No, I didn't take anything stronger than grass mom! I literally walked into Chrissy Cunningham from The Mind Flayers! Not only did she know who I am, but she's a fan!” Gareth scoffs “Yeah right Teddy”. “I swear! She's here, somewhere backstage. Look I found some pictures others took with her today” He shows Gareth his phone. “Holy shit! You're right! You think they are gonna play?” 

“Fuck I hope so!” He says. After EC's set every one that isn't a crew member or ready gets barred from going near the stage. They are sitting in their dressing room with the others watching the livestream of the mainstage and crowd. Eddie and Gareth had told Freak and Jeff about Chrissy being backstage and they speculate about the band that's going to play as they pass around a blunt. Eddie shushes the others as he notices the crowd going quite “ Shut up! I think it's starting!” They watch his laptop with baited breath. When the first guitar rift starts and the drum joins in, Eddie whoops loudly “Fuck!! I can't believe this!” As the black curtain falls, the crowd goes ape shit as the band appears. Eddie can hear others out side of their room yelling and whooping. He automatically zeros in on Steve. He can't believe how good he still looks while pushing 40, his signature death hawk with green streak looks flawless, all of his blood rushes to his cock when he sees he's wearing a black pleated skirt with a green & black asymmetrical tartan panel insert and a pastel green crew neck sweater. He groans, adjusting himself in his pants. “Really dude?!” Freak tries to shift away on the couch, not in the mood for Eddie being gross next him. 

The camera zooms in, giving them a close up of his face as he screams. His left eye looks to be drooping, while the side of his head has multiple scars littering his skin and what looks to be a Cochlear implant. Gareth is the first to say “I think that he got into an accident or something and that was their emergency.”

 After their forth song Billy, their lead guitarist steps up to the mic. “How are we feeling tonight, Download?” He smirks and licks his lip at hearing the crowd screaming. “We've been gone for a while, so introductions are in order. On the drums we have Robin Buckley, for a lesbian she knows her way around poles” the camera pans to a woman with a red shaggy mullet as she flips Billy off. “On rhythm guitar we have my beautiful and radiant wife Chrissy Cunningham” He blows her a kiss as the crowd goes wild. She catches it and makes a heart with her hands. “On bass and vocals we have, King Steve Harrington” Steve flips him off with both hands, and gives him a lopsided smile. “The asshole on lead guitar is Billy Hargrove” Eddie frowns when he hears him slurring his speech, it's a sharp contrast to his perfect singing, growling and screaming. Billy dramatically bows before reaching back for his mic. “We are The Mind Flayers!” They start playing again. “I think he lost his hearing guys” Jeff muses out loud. “I just looked it up and that's a Cochlear implant” “Damn that's rough” Gareth says “But he can still sing!” 

Forty-five minutes later Billy takes the mic again “We have two more songs we want to play for you but first, Birdy has a PSA” Robin grins at the camera before leaning to her mic “This Public Service Announcement is for one Eddie Munson of Corroded Coffin. Dinges over there is convinced he's too old for you, but he's very single, very gay and very much horny for you too” Steve blushes brightly and bites his lip. Before effortlessly starting to play again. Jeff, Freak and Gareth stare at Eddie. Eddie's eyes have gone wide and his jaw drops open. “I'm dreaming right? I've got to be right? Please pinch me” He yelps loudly and glares at Freak. “I said pinch! Don't beat me!” He rubs his shoulder. 

“Jesus H. Christ! I can't believe I called out Steve Harrington! And called his ass biteable, fuck me!” Gareth hides his face in his hands. Jeff pets his back “ We will hold a vigil in your memory while looking for a new drummer, starting tomorrow"

 “Fuck off” He pushes Jeff away. Eddie tunes out his friends, he can't believe his childhood crush is gay, let alone interested in him.  

As they are packing up their stuff there's a knock on the door, he opens the door and there standing before him is Steve. His death hawk has been carefully combed and his hair lays perfectly styled, covering his shaved sides, scarring and implants. He's also wearing the same soft pale yellow sweater as early and smiles at him “Hi”

Eddie tries to hide his blush at getting caught staring and clears his throat. “Hi, oh wow. Um yeah, come in” He lets Steve into the room. The others greet him and ignore Eddie's glaring at them, gesturing wildly for them to get lost. “You guys were amazing! Totally caught us off guard. But damn was it a good set” Freak gushes as Gareth tries to apologise “ I'm so sorry for saying those things about you. It's all Munson over there. I don't have an opinion on your ass” 

Steve laughs “Don't worry people have said far worse and more graphic things about my ass” Jeff is the least tactful person on a good day so he goes straight for it when he sees Steve using his hands to sign As he talks. “ You've gone deaf right? That's why the slurred speech and implant?” 

Eddie hits him “What the hell dude! You don't just ask someone that” Steve looks between them and pats his hair down a little “A parting gift from my ex. But yes I have lost most of my hearing. It's why I sound drunk. Before you ask, singing uses a different part of the brain”

Eddie looks shocked as do the other three, but then it suddenly clicks, the first song they dropped was called DV. “It's so impressive sweetheart, you sound just as good as before” 

Steve blushes “Thank you, it's hard when you can't hear yourself properly” Gareth and Freak strong arm Jeff out of the room with them. “Teddy, be good, yeah? Man's a national treasure, he deserves to be wined and dined not get a quick fuck in a green room” Gareth cackles loudly at Eddie's sputtering as he closes the door behind him. 

“I'm really flattered you are, quote ‘ horny for my biteable ass’ but I'm fifteen years older than you. And I can't do situationships or casual flings. I want something real” Eddie closes the distance between them and strokes his cheek. “Not to sound cliche but, age is just a number, baby. I want a chance to wine and dine you. Adopt a mean old grouchy cat from a shelter that only likes you and uses me as their personal scratching pole. Buy a house together, sneak off to have some privacy on the road, adopt and raise some kid's together. The whole ass nine yards. I want it all” 

*Epilogue*

Eddie wakes up to quiet giggling and hushed voices. He fakes being asleep as he feels a small body climbing on top of him, small hands pat his face “Daddy wake up!” He quickly pulls the young boy into his arms and starts tickling him. He smiles at hearing the boy's happy squeals and please for him to stop. He hugs him tightly and kisses the top of his head. His eyes meet his husband's eyes as he stands leaning against the door frame, holding a tray of breakfast. 

The last five years had felt like badly dubbed novella. He and Steve had just been officially dating when CPS appeared at his door with a one year old baby boy. Turns out his father had not only been released from prison but he had gotten married and had gotten her pregnant. His half brother's mother had been found dead and his father in the wind. He was incredibly glad that Steve had been staying with him at the time. Like a Knight in shining armour he had swooped in and taken his brother from the frazzled social worker, along with a small bag of belongings and set about getting him cleaned up and fed. 

He doesn't hesitate to take his brother, Cedrick, in and become his legal guardian. He called Gareth right after the social worker left in a bit of a panic. His best friend came through and arrived hours later with his sons hand me downs, crib, toys and misaleniues baby items. All thought he had told Steve he wanted to have kids together, his fathers sudden presence in his life awakened his dormant abandonment issues. He's scared that Steve will break up with him, because of this. But as the days turn into weeks and into months, Steve stays and they slowly grow closer. 

He never misses an appointment with their assigned social worker, he stops smoking cold turkey, both kinds. He greatly cuts back on his drinking and starts taking parenting classes. He also breaks down crying on the phone to his Uncle Wayne, it's the first time he calls Wayne dad out loud. Wayne gets the first flight out and stays with them for the first month. Once the last leg of Corroded Coffin's tour comes up, and overlaps with a short Mind Flayers tour. He freaks out about what to do. Chrissy is the one that saves the day, by reminding Steve that Jane is in between jobs. He learns she is one of Steve's ‘kids’ he used to babysit, she studied child development and education and jumps at the chance to come on tour as live in nanny.

The next two years fly by with little to no drama or huge life events. Besides Cedrick starting to call him daddy and Steve, tee that evolves into papa tee. And of course him marrying the love of his life in a small private ceremony. Shit doesn't hit the fan until six months after them officially submitting the paperwork to adopt Cedrick as their son. He had already been given permanent custody by the courts but he wanted Cedrick to know that he was truly wanted by adopting him fully as his son. Unsure if he would be able to adopt him, Steve had his lawyer write Cedrick into his will, making sure to name him as his son. 

The proverbial shit comes in the form of his maternal grandparents suddenly appearing and suing for full custody and petitioning the adoption forms. And want an absolute shit show it turns out to be. Of course they turned out to be bible thumping homophobic zealots. They accuse them both of molesting Cedrick, abuse and neglect. It turns into a two year long legal battle with Cedrick being placed for a week in a foster home while the claims of sexual child abuse get investigated. That week was the worst of his life, he takes up smoking again to try and calm his nerves and to stay away from harder stuff. Steve struggles as well, the trauma of his previous abusive relationship giving him near constant panic attacks.

When they get their son back home he's traumatised and keeps apologising for being bad. They start family counselling on the advice of Cedrick’s case worker. As overworked as she is, she keeps on fighting with them. When the claims of abuse and neglect get dismissed they feel vindicated, but they celibate too soon before because the next work day new petitions are filed, claiming grandparental rights. All in all it takes two long years for every nonsensical petitions to get dismissed with prejudice. It helps that Cedrick's grandfather has three convictions of child abuse and neglect, the victim being his own daughter. First thing Eddie does is get a restraining and protection order against them.

It takes a lot of therapy and concealing for the family to start healing and repairing their bonds. Finally the paperwork for the adoption got finalised a few weeks ago, which brings them here to the present, his thirtieth birthday. He hugs his son tightly before letting him go and sitting up so that Steve can place the tray over his lap. “Ced’ helped me make breakfast for you. There may be more chocolate chips in your pancakes then batter” Steve says as he sits down on the edge of the bed.

“That's exactly how I like them to be perfectly honest” He kisses his husband smiling as their son makes gagging noises. He gives Steve a very noisy kiss before pulling back and sticking his tongue out “It's my birthday today so that means I can kiss your papa as much as I want”. He ruffles his sons hair as they eat breakfast in bed, uncaring about crumbs or spills. “ I lied” 

Steve frowns looking at him, concerned about that statement “About what Teddy?” Cedrick chiming in to say that lying is bad. Eddie smiles wildly. “Five years ago I lied when I said that was the best birthday ever. I don't need tens of thousands of people screaming my name. I just need my family”

-HOWEVER Chuuya and Dazai have an intense bond, they are one soul in two bodies, written and designed to compliment the other, Chuuya trusts Dazai with his life and vice versa, Dazai believed in Chuuya's humanity from the very beginning, their old and sorted dynamic, Chuuya being like the only one who understands Dazai's motives, and so, knowing all of this, I simply have no choice but to acknowledge their homosexuality because if I don't then I'm just being willfully ignorant

Or a MHA example:

-I somewhat ship Dabi x Hawks because it's hilarious whilst also having beautiful potential for angst

-BUT Bakugou and Midoriya quite simply just are gay as shit for each other and I have no choice but to accept it. Rivals constantly pushing the other, their complicated history and how they've both grown because of it, their understanding of the other, Bakugou basically trusting Midoriya with his fears and insecurities, Bakugou being the first to know about One for All, Kaachan Bakugou.

Or a MTP example:

-I guess you could say I ship Microsoft X Albert because I think it's sorta very funny and extremely plausible.

-MEANWHILE William and Sherlock are like the only person who understands each other and can keep up with them and Sherlock is diving off of buildings and cradling William's head as they fall (in love).

I just can't view them platonically or something after everything I've seen them do and I don't believe anyone who says that they truly don't seem them as romantic or at least something other than platonic or brotherly because how could you not??

im still really annoyed with Retraction Watch for platforming a terf last year and then not doing any sort of sockpuppet damage control in the comments. since they got acquired by crossref they've done way less guest editorials. not to be all "stick to sports!" but stick to sports, retraction watch.

they did introduce me to this substack series i will be following with great interest about the rise and fall of hindawi. wiley acquired a paper mill a few years back, bc they seemingly did zero diligence, and then blithely ignored the problem for two years before being forced to do the single largest retraction of papers in scientific publishing history, somewhere above ten thousand articles because it is STILL ONGOING.

i do love following various retractions bc i like seeing what finally made someone go "wait a minute", and, as i have just written in a cover letter, "I studied astronomy and have held several data jobs because I’m fascinated with how and why systems work and fail..."

my best friend has decided while i'm at her home in the evenings eating her food and bothering her children (for my mental health, it is very important i am fed tiny bits of mushed up banana by hand by her one-year-old), our new project is watching all the xmen movies. i have no particular desire to do this or special affinity for the xmen, and i would like to keep eating very good texmex and bothering her children (for my mental health, it is very important i play hot wheels with the five-year-old). this sounds so super bitchy of me but it's hard to convey that these are essentially on for background noise.

saw the first two. the two things i know about them are that hugh jackman is in them and they're at the statue of liberty in one

an ideologically baffling little environmental game free in the epic store this week, LumberJack. this is on PC and Switch for $13, which is far more money than the playtime anyone can get out of this game. tiny tiny tiny little Spain-headquartered studio without an active website, it looks like one guy hired out to make this and two more games and then went back to single-dev projects. i can respect that!

steam reviewers are mad at this game for being woke, and i'm mad at it for being woke in a very strange way. your one mechanic, as a bear, is swinging a big axe to remove cars and trailer offices and portapotties and various garbage from the landscape.

i wish the movement and look controls are inverted, and i wish they weren't, or at least had an option to make them normal. i know Why this isn't a mobile game (can't monetize something with twoish hours of gameplay and twenty levels) but it's a very straightforward and simple game that would translate very well to mobile. much like donut county.

now for being picky about the political mindset of the developers: as much fun as it is to be a bear swinging an axe around, lumberjacks are not the people i associate with wild preservation movements.

saving the land and turning it back into pristine and perfect land for wild animals in this game looks like erasing every hint of human activity from a site and turning it into sheer recreational use. many levels are heavily polluted, but some can definitely be read as recycling centers. im confused by the erasing every hint of humans in early levels, and then this level where you break down a radio station, slap the host with your axe, and she turns into a park ranger who starts gardening and taking care of chickens?

i don't think that removing all the traces of people from the landscape will magically fix everything, nor do i think simply being in unspoiled wilderness will magically fix me.

there's a golfing level where you whack bombs into various small buildings. i think golfing to save the environment is a strange choice to make for designing a game.

i also briefly thought this bird in every level was an extinct ivory-billed woodpecker, which was a little alarming bc there are some real nutjobs out there with very strong beliefs about this bird and government overreach and how much the government is lying to you about the extinctness of various animals.

i stopped playing about halfway through bc i was not having fun and found the underlying environmental message a little confused. they've managed to sell at least 10k units which is...not very good. i am not surprised this is free on epic, and i wonder what their payout for that was. would not be surprised if they negotiated a payment to their nonprofit partner ecologi as part of that.

One’s body had adapted and ghoulified, but in equally unhelpful ways. The tycoon flickered, approximating an appraising blink. “This meeting has been a long time coming, hasn't it? You've come a long ways, literally and, I suspect, figuratively as well. You’re in the Free Economic Zone of New Vegas.” They’d pretended the prisons were so many different places: across the Continent, in various parts of London, up and down and all around the East Coast of these wretched States. Rarely this far west, aside from the awful escapade in the faux pre-War Western town. “What do you want?” He managed to swing his ankles off the saddle (also pre-War? Heavily used. It certainly wasn’t his, the equestrian event had always been his worst event in the pentathalon) and jolted what felt like every half-dead nerve in his half-dead body.

It's a first for me and quite honestly I am pretty nervous but...

And since I can't draw to save my life, I used this picrew to present them, one of them you might recognize since I have introduced him in a tag game. Anyway here they are:

Starting with the familiar one, the 17 year old Achilles. He's the protagonist of an original story I'm working on and simply put, he's not okay. He lives with an emotionally and physically abusive father and a neglectful mother who cares more about her husband and their image than her son, and they both put a lot of pressure on him to be perfect in every way and also make sure he doesn't ruin the family's image in any way (a big part of which is hiding the signs of his father's abuse). In terms of a support system, he doesn't really have one since breaking up with his girlfriend, Ange, who also happens to be/have been his best friend, and his one other friend is...not that great. His only solace comes from reading and photography (and poetry but he would never admit it), but when even that isn't enough, his mind ends up in a really dark place and he tries something drastic. But thanks to a certain someone's intervention, he doesn't go through with it and as much as he (claims he) doesn't want to, he has to learn how to live again... in more ways than one.

The special someone I mentioned before. This is Ephraim, the reason Achilles stays alive and the one person he cannot shut out (both much to his dismay). The reason for that and the reason he appears wearing the same clothes as Achilles is because, after the event that saved the latter's life, the two of them end up sharing a body. Simply put, Ephraim is a ghost that possesses him. He can get control of his body and speak in his thoughts, but his actual appearance is visible only in reflective surfaces and luckily for them both not all the time, just when Ephraim chooses to surface. Last time, Kakeru revealed to Mika and Moe that he wants to go to a premier makeup school, and will finish high school to make sure he qualifies. He had a good conversation with Hasegawa after being asked if he was gay, revealing that he sometimes finds either men or women admirable in their own ways but as yet has not felt love. Hasegawa expressed his admiration for Kakeru for never playing along with boy talk that also makes him uncomfortable. Kakeru also managed to form a new friendship with his rival. Makoto is struggling at work to keep his misogynistic senior from pissing off everyone, and it seems like Haranishi suppressed him with his bra for now. Makoto also unfortunately thought Kakeru was seeing two people and put his foot in his mouth again trying to be supportive. However, he did help Daichi by reassuring him that Madoka choosing him is also a valid choice, even as we all worry about Madoka giving up on being a vet to dodge his family's disappointment. Not to be forgotten, Makoto insisted that Mika enjoy the tickets they got for her.

I like how much easier the friendship between Daichi and Makoto feels at this point. Saying they help each other feels genuine.

Kakeru admitting that he took out his frustrations on his parents feels like an important step for him.

Oh no. Daichi is pulling back from Madoka, and now he's going to think Daichi is trying to get with Kakeru because Kakeru is so cute.

Hold on, I'm suddenly invested in Furuike trying to use the contacts he's built up across his career in a digital age that cuts down on human interactions.

Ah, Furuike knows the engineer who designed the copier and is trying to protect his reputation. He's also got little left in his life besides his idea of work and the efforts they made before, so he's trying to validate that their way of doing things wasn't completely wrong. Look at this show giving this unpleasant man recognizable humanity.

Okay, I was touched by the two old guys solving a problem together.

Also feels significant that Kakeru wanted to wait to talk to Makoto.

Aw, they get to bond over having similar troubles navigating human interactions.

"I respect your grit and perseverance. In order for them not to go to waste, would you please change with me?" is basically the plea the show is making to the masculine audience.

Not me crying because this old man made tea.

Kakeru teasing about never hearing his dad complain before also feels like a moment. I wonder if we'll return to Kakeru's comment about not being an adult.

Why do both Okita men blush the same way? Lol

For saying he stumbles constantly, Makoto recognized that Kakeru didn't tell him what he really wanted from that booth.

Oh, Kakeru. Once again this show hitting queer notes left behind in romance all the time. It's easy to resent people for not being able to understand you, but that's just hiding the loneliness and disappointment you feel at not being able to connect with them, too. Kakeru admitting that he's feeling sad that he can't be the son he wanted because his father is actively trying to be a father Kakeru can love and respect got me.

As always, Daichi doesn't tell Kakeru what to think, and reaffirms that Kakeru always has a choice in how to engage with the world.

Dammit, they got me again. Madoka explaining to Makoto how hard it is to tell your parents important things about yourself because of the huge stakes, and then trying to accept being dumped, is making my chest clench.

Oh, Makoto, finally your over sharing tendencies pay off.

Wow, this man is so tall that he could see Daichi over the crowd.

Ugly crying about Kakeru and Makoto talking out the baseball thing at the festival, and then Kakeru asking his dad to teach him how to use the pop gun to get what he wants for himself.

Well well well, Kakeru still has to face the boys on the baseball team.

This has quickly become one of my favorite shows of all time. She wasn't in this episode a lot, but Mika continues to be one of my favorites because of her instincts. She could tell that Kakeru wanted to face Makoto properly, so she makes sure to check in with him first before hovering to see that they're okay. She then later insists on sending Makoto to the festival in a yukata with Kakeru because she knows they need to do that together. If she doesn't insist on Makoto going and dressing up, he doesn't have that conversation with Madoka, and he doesn't make progress with Kakeru at the booth. She helped four men with her kindness and determination, and enabled her daughter to support her brother while also receiving validation about her hobby from her dad.

Makoto has come so far. I really loved him supporting his senior through the resolution of that work problem, and still telling him that his attitude was wrong. I also liked that he also got corrected by Shimura afterwards, who insists that he use respectful honorifics for her. He's finally earned the confidence of his team by being the leader they need him to be.

This show is excellent, and I've not cried this much watching a show in a long time.
