I want to sit next to him, wrap a soft blanket around his shoulders, and gently pet his scalp and play with his hair. Maybe put a few braids in it and show it to him in a mirror. "Do you like the braids? Do you want to keep them in? I'll take them out if not. I genuinely want to know. I won't be offended, I promise. We can try some other styles, too, and you can tell me how you like them."

He flinches a lot when you get close to him. He's naturally very tense whenever anyone gets too close to him -- and seems more confused by the blanket than anything else. He does not resist it, though.

He tenses even worse when your hand moves to his hair, but it does not last long. As soon as he realizes you're not going to yank at it, he melts into the touch.

He's a bit confused by the question you've given him and suspects you're just using him as a sounding board before you clarify. He has no say over his appearance, generally. In the moment, he's a lot more concerned with how it feels. And it feels...really, really nice.

He doesn't care how you style his hair, he just wants you to keep playing with it <3

He's very comfortable wrapped up in the blanket now and trusts that you're not going to hurt him. He feels safe enough to let you do this all night.

It was seldom that Ashrah ever wore anything as extravagant as this. Then again, it was seldom she ever attended events as formal as this. She was hyperaware of herself during this ball hosted by Mileena for the politicians and courtiers. Ashrah had been invited as Syzoth's personal guest. Even in her most festive white and gold robes, with her hair done in braids with gold ornaments to match, it was not hard to feel out of place. She was lucky to have Syzoth to stay close to. He seemed about as disinterested in the event as she was.

Getting to observe the nobility in person now, it was interesting just how many of Ashrah's preconcieved notions about them wrong. The etiquette of high society eluded Ashrah, and yet she was sure she's seen Netherrealm demons with more poise and dignity than some of these people. She was surprised at how many of them seemed unable to hold their alcohol. Either that, or they lacked the willpower to stop drinking before becoming fully inebriated.

She wasn't sure how she had ended up in this spot. One moment, she was conversing with Syzoth and another fellow guest. The next, another drunken guest was at her feet. His wine had long since flown out of his now broken glass and soaked itself into her hair and clothes. Her makeup now ran down her face, leaving only Ashrah's natural flush of embarassment in its place as the people surrounding them looked on. Syzoth had run off and returned just as quickly with linens in hand. As the drunken guest stood up and offered his intoxicated apology, Ashrah murmured stiff reassurances as Syzoth pulled her away toward a wall.

He stood between her and the rest of the ball as he handed her the linens to clean herself off. She blotted at her face, no doubt further ruining her makeup, then sighed as she tried to absorb the wine in her robes.

"This will never come out..." Ashrah mumbled with a frown.

Syzoth looked down at her with a sympathetic look. A brief pause passed between them. "Why don't we leave and go to my quarters to get you cleaned up?" he offered.

Ashrah looked up at him with a confused frown. "Even if I clean up, I am still stuck with a dress drenched in wine."

For another moment, Syzoth looked to the side before looking back at her with cautious eyes. "I...don't mind loaning you something of mine to wear," he said, his voice unsure. "They might be big on you...but at least they would be clean."

She raised her eyebrows in surprise and thought for a moment before bashfully nodding. With her permission, he led her away from the ball and up the stairs of the palace toward his apartments. Ever the gracious host, the first thing Syzoth did upon arriving was draw Ashrah a bath. As the water warmed, he set out whatever soaps he had, along with a clean sponge and towels, one of his tunics, a pair of soft trousers, and a sash to keep the trousers up.

He left her to her own devices after letting her know she could take all the time she needed. It was nice, getting to soak in the warm water now. The judgemental glares of the other ball guests felt like nothing more than a distant dream. She took great care, cleaning off the dried, sticky wine in her hair and skin. For reasons she couldn't explain, it excited her that the more she lathered, the greater the feeling was that she was surrounded by Syzoth's scent. It was a simple scent, one that brought to mind a forest after the rain.

As expected, his clothes ran too big for her. She still couldn't help but admire the way they looked on her in the mirror. Her heart thrummed at the thought of wearing Syzoth's scent and being embraced by his warm, soft clothes. After stealing one final glance at herself, she draped the towel across her shoulders, under her wet hair, and made her way back out into Syzoth's room. He was sitting at a desk, idly looking over documents as he waited for her.

"I'm sorry you left the ball on my account," she said, drawing his attention. He looked up from his documents, then raised his eyebrows. She watched as his eyes passed over her form and as a faint emerald kissed his cheeks. She pressed her lips together and looked to the side. "But thank you for your hospitality. And the clean clothes."

Syzoth shook his head, his eyes then wandering to the side as he averted his gaze. "Not at all," he said with a shy smile. "I'm...pleased that they could help you."
