#I also think it pissed Peter off how close James and Remus were

Oh... Blushes... you are too kind...
It very much is friendship and Jily focused. I am actually really excited about the relationship (platonic friendship) I have planned for James and Remus.
It's quite obvious from the books that Sirius and James were best friends, their friendship was loud and colorful.
James and Remus had a very tight relationship and I always pictured them finding quietness together. Not necessarily, quietness literally, but more of James' softer side. Sirius is fire, Remus is water, Peter is earth - and James is the air that they all breathe. Air and water are both liquids that are very different but complement each other.
They both come from loving families but have very different upbringings. But that commonality gives them something special. It's late-night convos about defense or care of magical creatures. Or another time when James' knows he messed up, but Remus just sits there, not telling him off, but James knows that Remus wants to say something. Remus sits there in support and lets James talk it out. It's James getting that Remus is not well, but not letting him be unwell alone.
It's a very subtle, but powerful, friendship. Neither of them needs to be loud to be heard.
Remus and James’ friendship is so important to me.
The moon and the sun.
So far away but connected by the stars.
I feel like they just understand eachother
#idk I think they had a very big relationship that was vastly different from Sirius#And I think Sirius respected it and did give them time#also becase he did not want to be around the 'nerds'#I also think it pissed Peter off how close James and Remus were#Like Sirius was his brother#but Remus was best friend#idk if that makes sense#but like brother is more and then best friend#but like obv sirius is not his ligit brother and is James number 1 besti#but if you look at it as if Sirius is James brother#then James best friend would be Remus#you get me right?#Peter was a really great firend still#We dont forget peter in this house#but like there was an order#james potter#remus lupin#ALITS

My Marauders Hcs
🥀A/n: most of these aren't intended to be x reader, but some of them are !
🥀Character(s): James, Sirius, Remus, Peter
🥀Cw: none, mostly fluff
James:
James is the type to have a planner and obsess over it the first week of owning it, and then forget about it immediately afterwards. every school year he tells himself that this is the year he's organized, and then by the third week the planner is rotting under his bed and he's going by memory
constantly running a hand through his hair. it started off as a nervous tic, but soon became soothing for him. whenever he's upset or frustrated, he always finds himself ruffling and messing with his hair. a lot of people think its on purpose, but its not, and he gets really defensive when people point it out.
simultaneously smart but dumb. James is an intelligent individual, but he just doesn't apply himself and would probably be top of his class if he tried- he just doesn't care too. not that his grades are bad per se, but they aren't as good as they could be
James is one of those people who's actually quieter once you get close to them. he overcompensates and acts more extroverted than he is in most social interactions, but once you get close to him he mellows out and becomes quieter. you can tell when James is really comfortable with someone because he's very relaxed and calm around them, he doesn't feel the need to be anything more than he is
sooo loyal. we already know this, but seriously, if he's dating you, he's the most loyal person there is. you would never ever even suspect he's cheating, he gets grossed out if other people even flirt with him. if he's dating you, he's whipped!!
on top of this, James is not afraid to show you off. he never understands how someone could be embarrassed of their partner, or pretend they aren't a couple because of others' opinions. he understands being private about a relationship, but if someone directly asks who he's dating, he's going to say that its you- and he's proud too!
tiny shirt + big pants combo>>>
let marlene do his makeup once at a party and, while he thought it was cool, didn't really think it was for him. he'll wear makeup if you want him too, and occasionally he'll put on mascara or tinted chapstick just for kicks, but i don't think he would spend a lot of time on makeup of skincare or stuff like that. he just doesn't have the patience for it
in my head he's half arabian and 1/4 african, with his father being mixed and his mother being fully arabian. his hair is sooo curly, and it took him a while to learn how to take care of it and keep his curls from getting frizzy or dry
James let Sirius attempt to pierce his ears sometime during fifth year, and wanted to try it the "muggle way" which, predictably, went badly wrong- but he's fond of them anyway! so, now he has slightly crooked ear piercings that he just puts plain black studs or a small diamond in. he also forgets to take his earrings out for Quidditch a LOT, so Peter was always reminding him about it
we all know about the headcanons about him wearing red converse, but i also vividly see him wearing the dirtiest high top vans you've ever seen- something like this but heavily used and loved
if a sweater or hoodie is too long, he has to push the sleeves up to his elbows. James cannot stand the feeling of sleeves brushing against his hand or wrist, its so specific but it would piss him off so much
tries to learn French so he could understand Sirius' and Regulus' conversations (especially when they were talking about him in front of him), and has an insane duolingo streak. like he's failing half his classes just because he's lazy, but his duolingo streak is like 400+
curses in Arabic a lot, and also calls his friends nicknames or petnames in Arabic as well
James has a really loud, boisterous laugh that practically fills up a room and makes everyone turn to look at him- like genuinely he can NOT be quiet when laughing
Sirius:
he made "potions" in the shower as a kid
Sirius cuts his hair on his own, and gets really nervous about asking other people to cut it. its a big sign of trust for him if he lets you cut his hair, as Walburga used to cut it short as a punishment. he genuinely prefers to just do it himself, but that means that more often than not his hair is pretty long because it's tough to reach the back
has at least 4 rubber bands on his wrist at all times- one for himself, one for Marlene, one for Lily, and then one extra. he oftentimes has even more, and he forgets that he has them on and will wake up in the morning with literal creases in his wrist because he kept them on for sooo long 😭
in his first/second year, Sirius had a french accent that he desperately tried to get rid of. he eventually succeeded, but it still slips out occasionally
he started painting his nails to piss off his parents, but soon became pretty good at it. now, Sirius and the girls of the friendgroup all hang out and he does their nails for them! in my mind, he has medium-short nails. they aren't completely flat, and he keeps them very smooth and rounded and pushes back his cuticles as well
has a comfort leather jacket that he wears almost constantly. the texture and weight is so familiar to him that even taking it off feels uncomfortable sometimes. when he's anxious or upset, he'll wear the jacket to help calm himself down and a lot of times, he has woken up with it on after a stressful night
Sirius has a complicated relationship with cleaning. his parents were far too strict about neatness, and he's associated cleaning with lots of negative memories, including being yelled at and stuff like that. this being said, he struggles a lot with cleaning up his own space and gets very easily offended if you even imply that himself or his space is dirty. Sirius also struggles with self care and bodily upkeep for similar reasons, even if its just basic things like combing his hair or brushing his teeth. he gets those tasks done, but he doesn't enjoy them and it's very draining for him
wears a lot of jewelry because he likes to fidget with it, and is a dedicated believer in wearing only gold. he's always afraid that he'll accidentally burn Remus if he's wearing silver jewelry, so he makes a point to only wear gold or copper or something similar
pierced his own ears, and also got his nipples pierced at a muggle piercing studio just to piss his parents off- even though they never found out
exclusively wears mismatched socks for no reason
is very gender nonconforming and is also probably genderfluid, he doesn't really care how he's perceived if that makes sense but feels more feminine and more masculine at different days or times
complains about little things but keeps bigger issues to himself. like Sirius will complain for an hour straight about how sore his back is from quidditch until everyone is begging him to shut up, and then turn around and neglect to tell anyone that his mom cooked him in a stew and fed him to a goblin or something (until he eventually breaks down about it)
gets angry really quickly and hates himself for it
wore a fake nose ring for years before actually getting it pierced
lowkey thinks bullying someone is a flirting tactic and when he's into someone he's a little mean and teasing towards them
Remus:
cant eat strong flavors in the morning such as fruits or sugary cereals bc it makes him uncomfortable or nauseous. only sticks to bland breakfast foods like eggs or toast when he first wakes up, but will eat more flavorful food later on
a tiny bit scared of the dark but won't admit it. he always keeps a nightlight nearby though
Remus gets bad migraines around the full moon and wears noise canceling headphones to help keep the loud sounds to a minimum
had a lisp and a crossbite at a young age but after a few years of dental work + speech practice its barely noticeable unless he's really upset (but he still has to be consciously aware of his lip movements nooo im not projecting...)
hates constricting clothes, has to be wearing baggy clothes or he feels like he's going insane
surprisingly good listener. he never plays the devils advocate, always gives good advice, and is overall a great person to vent to
can NOT sleep with his closet or bedroom door open it creeps him out sooo bad
this is going to sound a little insane but. in my head he sort of like. kisses with his nose. LET ME EXPLAIN i imagine him w like a slightly crooked nose and so whenever he kisses someone he always sort of? boops noses w them? bc his nose is like relatively big,,? and he just sort of does that??? idk it's just really adorable in my head
also adding onto that- he's a very gentle kisser. cups your face, rubs your back typa guy. definitely doesn't rush in
allergic to shellfish
one of those people who puts their entire soul in their notes app. he has lists, reminders, quotes, random pictures, information, and everything in between in his notes app. Remus is also the only one who can navigate through his notes as there are SO many and any normal person would go insane just from looking at all of it 💀
picks at his lips and nails until they bleed or peel
HATES when food touches on his plate- can't stand when food mixes and will often seperate food into little piles but then EATS MULTIPLE TYPES OF FOOD IN THE SAME BITE in an attempt to concoct like the perfect bite. like if he's eating idk chicken cutlets mashed potatoes and peas he can't have any of those touch on his plate or else it's disgusting but then he'll eat a piece of cutlet with mashed potatoes and peas on top in one bite??? idk maybe im projecting but this just seems like sum he'd do
very big on studying. he's smart, but if he doesn't study he absolutely blanks on tests and assignments so he always needs to have stuff memorized- he also takes extra notes for his friends so that they can copy it whenever they need
once he ties his laces on shoes, Remus never unties them and prefers to just shimmy in and out and fight for his life to put them on and take them off
Remus' ears get cold really easily so he wears earmuffs and a scarf often! his cheeks and nose also turn pink when he's cold and it's always very obvious and adorable
while he isn't a big fan of quidditch or sports in general, he truly enjoys supporting his friends and making sure they know that he's there! even if he has no real interest in it, he attends every single one of James' and Sirius' quidditch games
i love the headcanon that he befriends Regulus before any of the other marauders, and that he's in a study group with Reg, Lily, Mary, and Dorcas
Peter:
enjoys muggle comics, and has a HUGE comic book collection! Peter can also name nearly every superhero, and has soooo many comics memorized. like you ask him "what was the original comic in which *insert superhero* appeared" and he'll reply with the full comic title and author
you can't convince me that Peter wasn't a huge flannel person LIKE HE WAS THE TYPE OF KID TO HAVE A DIFFERENT COLORED FLANNEL SHIRT FOR EACH OUTFIT
huge gossip but in a good way. him and the girls all have a little gossip circle, and i looove the headcanon that out of all of the marauders, Peter is the most aware of all of his friends romantic endeavors. whether you ship wolfstar, jegulus, jily, dorlene, or anything else- Peter KNEW before even the people involved knew they liked eachother. always pretends to be surprised when people inform him of stuff like that as though he hadn't already known for two years or sum
i like to think Peter also played quidditch, but did it moreso to have fun with his friends rather than being super into the game. he liked it, but he only did it because his friends did
ridiculously good at chess, and holds that over Sirius' head allllll the time. probably also in his own little chess club or something similar
Peter is smart, but only when he applies himself. most of the time he's fine with being average, so he has decent grades, but certainly nothing outstanding. however, when he tries? he's very intelligent and can excel academically- he just doesn't feel like it
learned to braid Marlenes hair when they were younger, and then taught Sirius how to do it too! he'll also sometimes braid Sirius' hair for him if he's bored and needs something to do with his hands
unlike his friends, Peter isn't very confrontational and prefers to handle conflict with a softer approach. this often makes him take on the role of the peacekeeper in the sense that he communicates between both parties when his friends are fighting. that doesn't mean he can't stand up for himself, he just only does so as a last resort
Peter doesn't laugh, he GIGGLES. genuinely teehees when he's excited about something !!!
he was the one who suggested the name The Marauders, and originally did so as a joke, but then it stuck
very rarely curses, but between being friends with the marauders and such, he probably knows more curse words than the rest of his friends combined and sometimes when he's irritated he starts cursing up a STORM
chronic sweatpants wearer. orefers the material of his clothing over anything else, and if something is uncomfortable he simply won't wear it
i like the headcanon that Peter's queer awakening was actually both Frank Longbottom and Remus, but he didn't know it until years later. for Remus, it wasn't actually a crush, but moreso an "oh he's attractive. yea i'll think about that ltr" kind of moment yk? however, i do think he had a crush on Frank and that was also part of the reason he originally joined the quidditch team
Peter's favorite color would be yellow, and his favorite flowers are sunflowers!!! idk why, he just seems like a yellow kind of guy!!! i also feel like he'd like orange too- overall, he prefers warm colors to cool colors
Peter would listen to Nirvana, you can't tell me otherwise bc he WOULD !!!
he's kind to people regardless of their house. doesn't care if your a hufflepuff or a slytherin, a gryffindor or a ravenclaw, if you're nice, he's nice!! he's also always super sweet to first years who are new to the castle, and helps with giving directions (and telling those who purposely give wrong directions to piss off) for at least the first month of school every year
made friends with a lot of the portraits on the walls, and ended up gaining their favor and getting help with some pranks. i also think that he'd get along with most of the ghosts, and Moaning Myrtle had a crush on him in his third year and it was really awkward because he tried to be nice but she ended up taking it romantically and so she thought they were dating for like two whole weeks (James teased him mercilessly over this)
while Remus always keeps chocolate on him for others, Peter always keeps gummy bears on his person or nearby in case he sees someone upset
YIPPEEE I ACTUALLY WROTE SOMETHING!!!! i will def be doing a pt 2 with the valkyries (marlene mary n lily) and the slytherin skittles (barty evan dorcas regulus n pandora) so!! stay tuned !!!! hope u enjoyed and PLEPSOEELSLPSKSOSKD

✩₊˚.⋆⁺₊✧ Merry Christmas everyone ✩₊˚.⋆⁺₊✧
Series Masterlist | Previous episode
Pairing: Wolfstar x Reade rWord Count: 7 K Warnings: None. Prompt: Where does your hear lay? Who does it belong to? This IS a wolfstar x reader fic, but it's incredibly slow burn. They won't start all dating each other until we're very deep into the story, but I promise the long wait will be worth it.
Chapter 26: Hooked on a feeling
Thursday, November 25th, 1976
As you walked back to the common room with your friends, Sirius didn’t let go of your hand at all. Remus, who had been the one with the idea, stood rather close to the two of you, and the rest also kept a close eye on you. Especially Peter who seemed to have been altered by the whole situation.
By the time you’d got to the common room you were a lot more relaxed, there was something about walking with your friends that just made you feel instantly better, even if you weren’t saying much. You easily realised how fast Remus had driven the subject of the conversation to something else, being backed up by Sirius who didn’t shut up about the new songs he’d gotten from his cousin Andromeda, it all had helped you order your thoughts better.
Yes, you hadn’t been paying attention to the strength of your spell, and yes, it had been quite strong, enough to push Evan back a couple of metres but not enough to really hurt him, it had probably stung like a bitch, but looking at things from a different perspective, he might have been more pissed because he lost, and because you had helped turn off the fire with your relashio, than he had been hurt by your spell. In fact, even if Seraphina had practically dragged him out of the classroom, he had been walking when he left.
And then you remembered the way he had laughed at your attempts to open the door of the shack and you almost thought he actually deserved it, even if your intention had never been to actually hurt him. And then you remembered Barty, and you knew he’d be absolutely pissed at you which had you shiver and inch just a little closer to Sirius.
He gave you a rather puzzled look, wondering what could have been going on in your mind before squeezing your hand comfortingly.
Eventually, you all ended up in the common room, Remus pulled out the food from his backpack and handed it over to you. They had picked sandwiches, sausages, bacon and a lot of other tasty, meaty treats. You almost laughed, they had noticed that you had been craving meat, and they had gone and picked probably every single thing with it on the meal.
When the girls had gone off to the library together, James, who had been sitting on the rug as he snuck some of the treats from your plate when he thought you weren’t looking, leaned in to ask “How did it go with Ricchie?”
You looked around for a second, making sure there was no one listening in, and responded “he’s on board, he said it’d be hard to convince the headless hunt.”
James smiled “knew you could convince him,” he said as he pulled back “You’re damn good at that.”
“I guess I am,” you smiled. quite pleased with yourself, “Does that mean I’m playing on Sunday?”
James laughed as he shook his head in disbelief “Don’t push your luck Vixi, you might be charming, but it depends on how you know what is looking by then.”
You huffed in response, and let yourself lean back in between Sirius and Remus as you took another sausage and started to munch on it “When will you go get the recipes?” You asked, turning to Remus.
“After dinner,” he said, “you think your talk with Nightshade will be done by then?”
You took a deep breath “I certainly hope it will… Oh, by the way, I found the perfect place to brew the potion…”
“Really, where?” Sirius asked casually.
“There’s a secret room near the Prefect Bathrooms, Richie showed me,” you started “It’s very small, kinda like a map room, with lots of forbidden books hidden in there, I assume Richie was as much of a trouble maker as you lot when he was alive…”
“Kinda like a map room?” he asked again, you had piqued his curiosity.
“You lot?! As if you weren’t included…” mumbled James.
You threw him a wink and turned back to Sirius “Well, it’s got a massive table in the centre, perfect for maps or large parchments and things like that,” you explained, “but I also saw a few potion things on the corner, I mean of course there’s no sink or anything like that, but I’m sure we can make do with what we have, it’s perfect! Completely away from prying eyes too. And you know people barely even cross that hallway anyway…”
“Well I guess you’ll show me your secret room and I’ll show you our secret map,” Remus said with a shrug.
“We’re showing her the map?” Peter asked.
James nodded “Indeed we are little Wormtail, it was an executive decision since she’s now an Honourable Marauder.”
“Wait! Really?” you asked, with a small gasp.
Sirius nodded, wrapping his arm over your shoulder, leaving his hand near your neck so as not to touch your wounded arm and smiled at you “You didn’t know?” he tsked.
You shook your head, “but it’s only natural, isn’t it? You know my secret now,” Remus said calmly.
“Lily does too,” you replied “And she’s not a-“
“And then there’s Vixen,” Peter said matter of factly, cutting you off mid-sentence.
“Aaaaand you’re going to do your first official Marauders Prank tomorrow,” Sirius finished.
“But… this- this feels like… It’s like being knighted or something…”
That got a chuckle from every single one of the boys, James stood up then, taking his wand in his hand, you looked at him puzzled when he extended his arm with his hand and placed it over your shoulder “Lady Vixen…” he started.
“What? Prongs you’re insane!”
“Shut up,” he said simply, and cleared his throat “Lady Vixen,” he repeated the same actions as before “I hereby declare you an honourable member of The Marauders,” he finished.
“As an official member, I ratify the decree,” Remus added.
“I ratify it a second time,” Peter added.
Sirius looked at you with a teasing smile “I don’t know about that…” he started but laughed mid-sentence when he saw the stares from all of his friends “All right… All right… I ratify the decree a third time, Kit’s one of us now.”
James smiled “Settled then, you can now know about the map.”
“Which map?” You asked, curiosity taking the best of you.
“Not yet,” Remus said “She’ll see it in due time.”
“Oh! You’re such a tease!” you said, leaning back in between Remus and Sirius again, crossing your arms over each other with a small pout, which just got Remus to chuckle, you looked way too adorable.
Then the clock chimed in “Dinner time,” Peter said with a smile.
James stood up “Sounds brilliant, I’m famished.”
“You’ve been eating my food since we got here,” you teased. He looked at you in shock, as if he was surprised he hadn’t been as sneaky as he thought he had been. The rest of the boys just laughed.
“No, I haven’t.” James said casually “must have imagined it.”
You just laughed at the seriousness he used to say it “So you’re saying I hallucinated it?”
James nodded “Indeed you have, perhaps we really should take you to Pomfrey.”
“All right Prongs, whatever you say,” you responded.
You separated from the boys when Marlene waved at you to sit right next to her, she wanted to ask you about learning to use confringo, and you spent the rest of the dinner discussing some advanced duelling spells with her, Beth, Lily and Mary had joined in the conversation a little later on and you discovered you all knew some spells the others didn’t.
“We should study them together,” Beth said “Find a quiet place and practice so we become better duelists.” Beth had joined the duelling club a couple of weeks before you had.
“I’d tag along with you girls,” Mary quipped “It’s always useful to know a thing or two about defending yourself, could help me brush up on my curses and hexes for next year’s N.E.W.T.S.”
“It’s a fantastic idea indeed,” Lily said “I say we do it.”
“Really?” You asked her a little surprised.
“Yeah, we could make our own little duelling club,” she said “Seems useful for the times we’re living in.”
Mary’s face turned a little sour. “I’d rather not talk about the times we’re living in.”
You were about to say something else when you felt a hand on your shoulder, you looked up and swallowed, it was Professor Nightshade, “Have you finished your meal?” she asked politely. You nodded in response. “Good, please follow me to my office.”
Lily gave you a worried look but you gave her a smile in return, whatever punishment she was going to give you, it couldn’t be too bad. “I’ll just take something for the way,” you told her, stood up and walked towards the boys, leaning in to grab an apple from the bowl right next to Remus “Where are we regrouping?" you whispered.
"Give me your hand," he said.
You turned to look at Nightshade, she was tapping her feet as she stood near the girls and looked, you swallowed, but instantly did as asked. Remus took your hand and placed a small, crescent moon bead that he took from his pocket, allowing his fingers to linger on your palm for a little too long before he spoke again.
"Keep it with you, we’ll find you."
You frowned, giving him a puzzled look, but turned back at Nightshade who looked like she was losing her temper and you nodded, Remus heard you say something like "Sorry Professor, I was looking for the right one," as you approached her with what he assumed was another one of those charming apologetic smiles of yours.
"You gave her your charm," Sirius said as he saw you go.
"So we can find her after the library," Remus responded, turning back to the other boy, "you ready?"
Sirius smirked "I’m always ready, Moons. But we need to get the cloak first."
"And the map," the other boy added. “Prongs and Wormtail will be working on the escape plan all night, you’ll join them and practise the spells afterwards, right?"
Sirius nodded in return, “You’ll stay with Vixen and prepare the potion,” he then hesitated for a second “Ask her if she’s all right for me?” Remus gave Sirius a frown, and the blue-eyed boy took a deep breath, “She’s always at ease when you’re around, and for some reason, I feel like she would tell you if–”
Remus shook his head “–She wouldn’t.”
“No, but I’m sure, you even told me about that time after practice that-“
“–Pads.” Remus said calmly “She’s not going to tell me shit, not this time.”
“But–“
“-It’s because it was me,” the taller boy explained. “She won’t say shit because I was the one to scratch her, I’m the reason she’s hurt.”
“That’s not fair,” Sirius countered, “You didn’t mean to, she knows it.”
“And that’s exactly why she wouldn’t tell me if she was off,” Remus sighed “She doesn’t want me to feel bad about it, and I don’t want to make her uncomfortable by making her lie.” Yeah, Remus knew what it was like to lie to his friends about the way he was feeling, he knew what it was like to feel the need to do it as if not to worry them, he didn’t want you to go through that, especially since he had been the one to hurt you in the first place.
Sirius sighed, leaning against the table, holding his head up with his hands, his beautiful curls cascading around his face and spilling between his fingers. Remus stared, almost enthralled by the beauty of his friend before speaking again.
“She knew, you know?” he said suddenly.
“She knew what?” Sirius asked, pulling his head up to look at Remus straight in the eyes.
“She knew I was a werewolf,” the boy admitted. “When she arrived at the Shack and cranked the door open, she was relieved to see me for a whole of like 60 seconds before she realised how screwed she was.”
“But how?!” the blue-eyed boy asked, confused.
“At first I thought it had been you–“ Remus admitted.
“I would never!”
“I know,” Remus agreed “But you can’t blame me for thinking it a possibility, especially with how close you are to each other.”
“But you should know I would never, especially after the-“
“–I know.” Remus cut him off, a little sharper now, he did not want to talk about the prank.
“Then how did she find out?”
“She guessed it,” Remus said with a tight lip smile, surprise and unbelievability spilling from his voice. Had Sirius not been paying attention to how attractive his friend looked with that smile on his face perhaps he would have realised the way Remus had said it sounded an awful lot like someone who had a crush “She said it was in the infirmary, last full moon.”
Sirius almost winced “After the ring incident…”
“I highly doubt it was just the ring incident,” Remus reassured, “Anyway, my point is… she knew, and she didn’t tell anyone about it. She didn’t ask me, she didn’t ask you. All because she didn’t want to put us in an awkward position.”
Sirius sighed, slumping his shoulders as he did “She’s a considerate idiot.”
Remus laughed and nodded. After a couple of seconds of silence, he tilted his head just a little, effectively getting Sirius’ attention back on him. As much as he hated to admit it, he loved it when Sirius looked at him like that. “Let’s get the cloak then…” he said with a mischievous smile.
“Let’s get the cloak,” Sirius responded with an equally mischievous grin.
You had been the one to enter her office first, Nightshade trailing behind just to shut the door as she entered the room and walked towards her chair. She must have been just as tall as you, regardless, she carried herself in a way that made you feel smaller, almost intimidated, perhaps it had to do with how beautiful she was. You remember feeling like the time you met Walburga a couple of years ago, Nightshade had the same imposing aura, except she carried a hint of peacefulness to her, rather than the unhinged chaos that hid behind Walburga’s eyes.
You swallowed as she continued walking all the way to her desk, she didn’t walk behind it though, she instead leaned back on it, elegance unmatched, “Miss (Y/LN).”
You didn’t say a word, instead, you nodded in acknowledgement, letting her know you were listening even if your voice refused to come out.
“You must know why I brought you here.”
“Because I used a very strong, downright almost-illegal hex on Evan Rosier.”
She laughed, a graceful laugh that you were not expecting to hear “That’s not why you’re here.”
“I’m sorry?! I thought you would– I thought I was here because… if it’s not that, then why?”
“Take a guess,” she said with a playful smile. You weren’t sure if you were intimidated by it or not.
“Because of the classes I missed? I’m sorry about that, it was really something unexpected and I–“
“That’s not it either.”
“Then I– I don’t understand–“
“How’s your shoulder?” She asked casually.
“It’s a lot better,” you said before you turned to look at her in shock. “How did you…”
“You’re not the only one that’s friends with the ghosts darling,” she said. “Come over, let me check it.”
You did as told, unbuttoning your blouse for her to inspect your wound “Is that why I’m here?” you asked as she carefully unrolled the bandage.
“Damocles Belby came to me on Tuesday, knocking on the door very early in the morning,” she started, “he said you had gone to the forbidden forest to get an ingredient for a potion, and that you hadn’t returned when you told him you would,” you winced as her hand graced over one of the injured sections “he told me what he wanted and why he wanted it for. I knew in an instant either Remus had told you about his condition or that you had guessed yourself.”
“You know about–“
“Of course I do. I’m the teacher of Defence Against the Dark Arts. I was informed the moment I got here.”
“And Dumbledore just told you?!” you scoffed, sounding a little more offended and angry than you intended.
She chuckled in return, “We go way back,” she said with a small smile “Either way, when you didn’t get to class I started to worry,” she continued “But I went over to check on Remus on the infirmary and he was calm enough, I knew he hadn’t hurt you, or at least that he hadn’t hurt you lethaIIy.”
“If you knew I was hurt, then why did you put me in a duel against Evan?”
“I didn’t think either of you would go as hard as you did on each other,” she admitted “and I wanted to know if you really were hurt.”
“Is that why you placed your hand over my shoulder and helped me up?”
“You almost had me fooled,” she admitted “I would have bought your act had it not been for the reactions of your friends.”
A small smile played on your lips, you were proud.
“You’re a strong one Miss (Y/LN),” she said as she inspected the wound “Whoever did the healing, is incredible at it,” she said casually “I’ve never seen a werewolf infringed wound looking so good after such little time.”
You didn’t say a word which just got another small smile from her. She liked that you wouldn’t speak, it showed your strength of character and stubbornness.
“Fine then, do not tell me,” she added as she started wrapping the bandage again “You know it will scar, right?”
“Yes…” you responded.
“And you don’t care?” she pressed.
You turned to her, holding her stare as you clenched your jaw, what kind of question is that?, you thought. “I don’t,” you said simply, “If it had been anyone else perhaps I–“You stopped yourself from talking, she did not need to hear your inner monologue. “Why am I here?” you asked as you pulled back and started buttoning your blouse back up.
“Because I wanted to know something…”
“And that is?”
“Tell me, do you believe in bIood purity?”
“That’s a bunch of bullshit,” you said simply.
She didn’t react, her face plain “Bold of you to say, when you come from a pure-bIood family.”
“It’s because I come from one that I know it’s bullshit, I know wizards twice as good as me that are not purebloods.”
She hummed, “I don’t think many wizards can be twice as good as you.”
“You can think whatever you like,” you spat, you had always liked Professor Nightshade, admired her even, but you didn’t like the way she was speaking right now, it made you wary.
“I like your bite,” she informed. “You could be really useful, you know...”
“For who?”
She smiled at the way you had asked, so forward “I can teach you,” She said, “Personal classes, one-on-one, I can make you the best duelist to ever walk out of this school…”
“And at what cost?”
“You don’t beat around the bush, do you?”
“I have places to be, things to do, friends to see, don’t you?”
She laughed, diverted at how serious you were being “Dumbledore.” You blinked a couple of times after she spoke. “You’d be working for Dumbledore.”
You looked at her, pupils moving fast as you thought about what she said “You’re not recruiting me for my talent,” you said then “you want me for my name, for my father’s contacts.”
“Nothing slips past you, does it?” she said with a smile “but I wouldn’t be talking to you if you weren’t talented.”
You squared your shoulders but didn’t say a thing.
“So… What do you say?”
Remus and Sirius had gotten the cloak and were already halfway through the passageways that would lead them to the library. Once they were about to get into the hallway, Sirius pulled the cloak from his backpack and handed it over to Remus, who, since he was the taller of the two, was almost always the one to accommodate it.
Back when they were smaller it was way easier to get inside the cloak, in fact, the four boys would do it often, and they had no issues fitting in and still being completely invisible. The last time they tried to do it, no matter how close they stood to each other, someone’s shoes ended up being visible. That’s why they resorted to going two at a time, knowing full well that three was their max.
Remus took the cloak and unfolded it in a swift motion, wrapping it around Sirius and himself in a movement that he had done so many times before that it made him look as elegant as a professional muggle magician wrapping his beautiful assistant for a trick.
Sirius looked up at him with a teasing smile as he finished adjusting the cloak, “Let’s go then.”
The two boys walked outside of the hole in the wall and walked alongside each other with practice ease. Remus was awful close to Sirius under the cloak, it was one of the reasons he’d almost always volunteer to go when he did, even if he was feeling off, hanging out with the boy always made him feel better. Either because of the jokes he’d cracked or because of the sheer excitement of just being close to him.
Sirius heard a sound and stopped abruptly, placing a hand over his mouth to silently indicate to him to keep quiet. Remus, who was not expecting the sudden movement, collided with him, his nose almost crashing into Sirius’ head. He got a whiff of his scent, the one of pine trees, musk and a tinge of leather that you loved so much and he had to shut his eyes close to try and regain his stance. Sirius had no clue the effect he had on people. Or perhaps he did know the effect he had on people, since he often used it to his advantage, he just didn’t know the effect he had on Remus. After a second, the boy nodded and the two continued walking, once they had successfully gotten into the restricted section of the library, Remus took the cloak off the two of them.
Sirius leaned closer, placing his hand on Remus’ shoulder to prompt his friend to bend down, when Remus obliged, he tilted his head towards the boy, his long locks brushing against Remus’ shoulder and cheeks. And while Remus was used to this, Sirius was touchy, he’d always been, and he probably always would be, it didn’t stop the shiver that went down his spine when Sirius finally whispered in his ear “Let’s split, I’ll find the potions book, you find the charms one.”
When Sirius finally pulled back, his hand still on Remus’ shoulder, the boy nodded “Keep the cloak,” he suggested “My disillusionment charm is better.”
Sirius arched his eyebrows, diverted. “You should see Vixen’s, she was never spoiled with James’ invisibility cloak like you and I.”
“Bet hers is even better,” Remus said and gave Sirius a wink before casting the spell and becoming almost imperceptible to Sirius. He blinked a few times, staring at nothing for a couple of seconds before he turned around to look for the book. But as he did, he couldn’t help but replay Remus’ wink and smile in his head, he wasn’t sure he’d ever seen that expression on his friend’s face. Or perhaps he had seen it, he’d just never observed it properly. And it had certainly never lingered in his head like it had that day.
But he shook those weird thoughts off and went straight to look for the book, using his wand to light the names of the tomes as he looked through the different potion books available. He skipped through Potionology: Crafting Magic in a Bottle and Secrets of the Cauldron. There had to be something wrong with the way the books in the section were ordered since none of them followed the standard alphabetical order arrangements normal bookshelves had.
He considered using Accio to get the book he was looking for, but it hadn’t worked last time, and most of the restricted section books had anti-summoning charms since they had to be kept away from most students’ hands. So he instead kept looking, making his lumus just a little more powerful so he could see a bit more of the books at the same time.
Remus was on the far left corner of the room, looking through the charm books to try and find the right one when he heard a noise coming from the other side of the library. It had been faint, so faint that he wouldn’t have noticed it, had it not been because of his acute hearing. Sometimes being a monster came with its perks.
He knew the sound was far away, so far that it wouldn’t be a problem for either of them if it didn’t get closer, so he kept his ears perked as he continued to look for the book. It didn’t take him much, since he knew exactly what he had been looking for. In fact, they had borrowed that same book a couple of times before, and it had a rather distinctive bright red cover, with shiny black details, it was almost impossible to miss. He took it out from its spot on the bookshelf, being careful not to make as much noise as he did, and then he placed it in his bag.
But that’s when he heard it, the sound from earlier had been steps. Steps that were approaching them pretty damn fast. Remus looked around, trying to find Sirius, and the boy was still looking for the book with his wand brightly lit, completely unaware of the sounds that were so clearly drumming in Remus’ ears. “Fuck,” he whispered as he started speed walking towards his friend.
Thud, thud, thud, the steps echoed ominously, growing closer and faster with each passing moment. Remus increased his peace, trying to get to Sirius before whoever was stepping closer to them did.
Remus looked around, trying to find him, and he was still looking for the book with his wand brightly lit, completely unaware of the approaching danger. Thud, thud, THUD, it was getting closer, so close Remus had to improvise.
He grabbed the cloak and repeated the same motion he had done earlier, wrapping it around the two of them in a second, but not measuring his strength, he ended up pressing Sirius against the bookshelf, the boy was about to protest, but Remus heard the steps getting even closer, so he placed one hand on Sirius’ mouth and the other one, he wrapped around the light still coming from the boy’s wand.
Sirius was shocked at first. It’s not that it was weird for Remus to stand so close to him, in fact, the line of personal space had been rather blurry between them for the longest time –especially with how handsy Sirius was all the time– but this was different. The way Remus was pressing onto him reminded him an awful lot of the way he pressed himself onto you sometimes. Sirius almost panicked, breath hitched in his throat when he turned his icy blue eyes to Moony’s face.
He was towering above him, breath steady as he looked to the side, head slightly tilted as he listened on. The footsteps were finally becoming audible for Sirius as well, but even if he was hearing them, he wasn’t quite registering them, he was too busy staring at Remus. He swallowed, focusing his eyes on Remus’s lips for a second before turning back to his eyes, feeling panic at the thoughts surging through his head.
For the first time in a while, Sirius was completely frozen in place, not knowing exactly what to do in a situation like this. He wondered if Prongs had been the one doing the same thing, what would’ve been his reaction. How different would it have been from the reaction he’d given Wormtail? What if it was you?
Remus, who had been focusing on the steps rather than on the way he had trapped Sirius between his arms, seemed to finally understand the position he had placed his friend in. But even if he could feel most of Sirius’s chest against his own, and how their legs were almost intertwined with each other, he had to focus on the situation at hand. Luckily Remus was resourceful enough to be able to focus on one thing at a time, and right at that moment, the approaching steps seemed to be a priority.
The sound was so close now, even Sirius managed to free himself from the trance and turned his eyes to the creak of the metal door being opened. It was Professor Spellman, Remus realised. The man strolled in casually and started looking through the shelves with the light of a small kerosene lantern.
When he got closer to the place where both boys stood, Remus pressed himself a little closer to Sirius, their heads so close Sirius could feel Monny’s breath on his ear. He could also feel the soft rise and fall of his friend’s chest against his own. For some reason the image of Remus’ pirate costume came to his mind, how both you and him had tried to fix his collar when Remus stepped away and took some distance. Remus certainly didn’t seem to care about the closeness now.
Remus could feel Sirius’ curls tickling his cheeks, and he could also feel the way Sirius’ breath had caught in his throat. He could sense out the scent of his shampoo, and he also smelled a little of you. No, your smell was all over Sirius just like Sirius’ smell was almost always all over you. It was an absolutely intoxicating mix, downright bewitching. So much so that he almost leaned closer to bury his head on Sirius’ neck when he realised what he was doing and leaned to the side instead, pretending like he was just looking at Spellman.
Sirius eventually let go of the initial shock, and even if his heart was pounding against his chest, he managed to maintain a slow, regular breathing pattern, as if not to call the attention of Spellman. He had practice already, he’d been in one too many dangerous and exciting situations, being just about to get caught wasn’t foreign to him. What was foreign, is how weird being so close to Remus made him feel.
Which is why he did the only thing he knew worked in situations like that, and he decided to make a joke of his feelings and thoughts instead of dealing with them. He vividly remembered his own reaction to you doing this to him, he wanted to see if Remus would keep his composure if he did the exact same thing.
Sirius Black might give me a heart attack, Remus thought as he felt the way the blue-eyed boy shifted around. And then, all of a sudden, he felt it; wet and sticky, did he just fucking lick my hand? Remus wondered. But decided he might have imagined it. Except he felt it a second time around. He frowned, turning around to see if Spellman was still close, when he realised he was just far enough, he tightened his grip around the boy’s mouth “Sirius. Behave!” Remus berated in a low demanding voice.
Not Pads, not Siri, but Sirius, your boyfriend realised as his breath hitched in his throat yet again. The way Remus Lupin had said that straight up sent a shiver down his spine. He gulped and obediently shut his mouth.
Remus, on the other hand, was really trying to maintain his steady breath. Even, as he felt his heart hammering against his chest. It was so loud to him, he wondered if Spellman could hear it because Sirius had to be hearing it. At least he could chuck it to the brink of almost being caught. Eventually, the professor grabbed a book and walked outside.
When the thumps of his footsteps sounded far enough, he finally pulled his hand from Sirius’ mouth, looking at the boy straight in the eye as he continued breathing heavily. He pulled back as well, finally letting the space normal friends would keep when hanging around each other. Sirius almost missed the closeness, no he did miss the closeness, which was even worse.
“You got the book?” Remus asked before either of them could say something weird. Sirius shook his head and the two of them started to look for the book. Both still under the cloak, both still so dangerously close to each other that, had any of the two wanted, they would have been able to bask in each other’s warmth. But both kept their distanc, both too scared of what the other might have been thinking.
“It’s here,” Sirius said as he pulled the book from the shelf “The Alchemist’s Grimoire, right?”
Remus nodded, “Let’s get out of here.”
You were walking back to the common room when you felt someone’s hand on your arm, yanking you towards their chest. You didn’t have to even look to know it had been Sirius. His cologne filling your nostrils the moment you were wrapped inside the cloak, “So you did find me,” you said turning to Remus, who was also under the cloak, he was placing a piece of parchment behind him, tucking it in between his pants and sweater.
“How was the talk? You’ve got detention?” Sirius asked, moving you to stand right in between the two of them. You felt a little squeezed and thought it was weird since normally Sirius would just stand behind you, but shrugged it off.
“No,” you said “She actually wanted to train me,” you explained “She said I could make a fine duelist.”
“She’s not wrong,” Remus said simply. You turned to him with eyebrows raised “What? We all saw the way you quashed Evan.”
“That wasn’t… never mind, how was your incursion in the library?” you asked, drifting the subject away. Both boys tensed up, you probably wouldn’t have noticed, but you were quite literally pressed in between the two “That bad?”
“Spellman,” Remus said, “He walked inside while we were still looking, we had to stay very still under the cloak for a long while.”
“Oh, must have been fun,” you joked with a teasing smile, but neither of them reacted, which had you side-eye the two with a bit of a frown.
“You bet,” Remus responded after a rather long silence. You frowned, something was definitely off between the two. Did they fight? And if they did, over what? you thought, even if “fight” wasn’t exactly the vibe you were getting.
The three of you continued walking for a while, “this is my stop,” Sirius said suddenly, the three of you stopped walking, and Sirius placed his hand on your shoulder to guide you closer to the entrance of the passageway he’d take back to the dorms.
“This is for you,” Remus said as he pulled out the charms book from his shoulder bag, Sirius took it and gave him the other book in return. You observed their interactions with squinted eyes, they were both a little stiff, robotic. Especially Sirius, actually, it might have just been Sirius, Remus did look a little fazed but he always did after the full moon, and it had barely been a couple of days since the incident either way.
“Mind if I steal her for a minute?” Sirius said as he grabbed your wrist and pulled you inside the passage along with him. You gave Remus a questioning look and he just shrugged, allowing Sirius to basically pull you all the way to the other side, letting the tapesry to fall back into place, giving you both just enough privacy.
You managed to barely give Sirius a look before he had you pinned against the cold stone wall and leaned into you. You didn’t even have a chance to gasp before he swallowed the sound by clashing his mouth into yours. Sirius hadn’t kissed you that hungrily since, perhaps a couple of days ago when you were still craving meat above anything else, but even back then, it had been you the one that had started the kiss. The one time he had kissed you, remotely like that, had perhaps been at the Halloween Party…
You knew something was up, but you couldn’t help but melt into the kiss either way, perhaps he was just too stressed after almost being caught and he wanted a way to find release. And no, using you as a relief of stress was not at all making you feel bad, in fact, you kind of enjoyed being able to help him, to anchor him.
Sirius pushed even closer to you, sliding his knee in between your legs as he placed both hands on your face, angling it however he pleased, you let him, in fact, you enjoyed it. The way he kissed you made you feel giddy and excited and almost weak on the knees. You wrapped your hands around his neck, using him as support as you brushed your fingers on the nape of his neck. He responded by pressing his hips to you, probably involuntarily, but you had noticed he absolutely loved it when you placed your fingers there, under his beautiful black locks, so you did it when you wanted a reaction from him.
He accidentally brushed your wounded shoulder, and you winced, “Sorry,” he mumbled, separating from your mouth for just enough to be able to say the words and going straight back to kissing you, letting his hands wrap around your waist instead. You didn’t realise until much later that Sirius had not once, in the many times he kissed you after you got hurt, been so careless with his kisses, so needy.
But you didn’t care, you couldn’t care, really. Not with the way he had you pressed against the stone wall, not with the way he had his lips moving around yours in such a demanding way, not with the way he smelled. And boy, did he smell fucking delicious that day. It was his normal cologne, the smell of musk and leather, but there was something else in the mix too, something you couldn’t quite place. Or perhaps it was something that your brain just didn’t want to place, since it was Remus. What you were smelling, the one thing that was different had been there just because of the way Moony had pressed Sirius against the wall. But you didn’t know, and there was no way you realised either way. Not with the way Sirius’s kiss made your mind foggy.
When he finally broke the kiss, the two of you were panting, and he started placing soft, butterfly kisses all over your face. He looked at you with a lovesick smile “You’re stunning, you know that?” he asked.
You blushed, as if it was possible to blush even more than you already had, but you somehow managed to sober up from the kiss and placed your hand on his cheek, he keened to the touch, still with a smile as he looked at you with those beautiful icy-blue eyes of his, shining brightly in the dark room “Are you okay Puppy?” you asked, a small smile forming in your face.
Sirius’ smile faltered for only a second, as if he had remembered something and he nodded “More than perfect,” he smirked, “especially after that kiss.” His tone had changed, he was flirting, he was distracting you.
You averted your gaze, sometimes you were weaker to his advances, sometimes his flirting affected you a lot more than normally, even if you should’ve already gotten used to it. But there was something still bothering you in the back of your head and you turned back to look at him, “Are you sure?”
Sirius smiled at your concern, but also because whatever had him feeling so off minutes earlier, was gone, you were there, and he wanted to kiss you, not Moony, but you. So whatever that had been, must have been a spur-of-the-moment thing, he was utterly and irrevocably in love with you, which meant there was no way he liked Remus. Because you couldn’t like two people at the same time, that was impossible… right?
“Absolutely,” he said, placing another one of those quick wet kisses, this time to your lips, “Moony’s waiting outside for you luv, aren’t you planning to go?”
You tilted your head, a small scoff slipping from your lips “You’re the one that cornered me in the dark hallway Puppy.”
He hummed as he tilted his head “You want another kiss don’t you, little Kit?” he teased after hearing the nickname.
You shrugged, ignoring the pain from your shoulder and leaned in to whisper in his ear “Maybe later lover boy, we’ve got work to do,” you said in what you hoped was a seductive tone before leaning in and placing a soft kiss in his mouth. Seconds after you disappeared through the curtain.
Sirius looked at you, frozen in place again, mouth agape as he saw the tapestry shut behind you. He swallowed, face stoic once more, the way you had whispered in his ear, had reminded him an awful lot of the way Remus had earlier, softer, almost like a purr rather than a demanding bark, but both had felt as intimate as the other. Both equally shiver inducing.

Why do we think Severus had no friends other than Lily?
Please tell me... before anyone says he was friends with Mulciber and Avery. That was a recent affair which we learn because lily tells Severus, "I don't like the people you've been hanging out with."
It's recent.
We know, also that the werewolf attack also happens before SWM -- and we learn this particularly in the same conversation.
Did Severus join their friend group out of fear?
I know this has nothing to do with my og point, that being : is any Slytherin a good enough friend, for Severus and is Severus a Slytherin good enough to be friends with any other house?
But wait a second;
Severus has always been an out cast, he's at the bottom of school's social ladder; he's poor, not mainstream attractive, he has poor socialization.
He hardly managed to make friends with Lily only succeeding because he had something she wanted; Knowledge about the wizarding world.
Therefore when he joined Mulciber's group; he would have had to been at the bottom of the friend group, as a : go for/ yes man/ nerd that does their homework ect....in exchange for being in the group and possibly getting protection; IF they bothered too, which I doubt they did seeing as no one in that group came guns a blazing to help him in SWM.
That friend group's power wasn't balanced, and if you've never been in a friend group that wasn't balanced then bless you.
When we talk about balance for the peoples that may not understand:
We have our leader: who may or may not be the glue of the group ei, the one who gathered the friends, or they could also just be the loudest, pushiest or just idk has more swag.
Example: James.
Then we have the second in command, the best friends of the leader, these people are the closest -- best friends, possibly has the ability to kind of influence the leader:
Example: Sirius
Then we have the third, close to the outside eye, best friends with the first two but everyone inside knows they aren't as close, if they were walking and one had to fall behind it would be this friend, if they ever stopped talking for a little, this friend would be first to go.
Example: Remus
And lastly we have the bottom of their social ladder, this friend is a follower, not a lot of say in the group, is lucky to be there and to be considered a friend, usually a yes man, a go for, or someone they exploit for their own personal gain, ie studying or help with assignments, or they could have poor social skills but have a rich background and is easy to manipulate. They are in this group for more protection or power of numbers. They need the group more than the group needs them.
Example: Peter & Severus
Originally I made this post to ponder any friends Severus might have had -- but in a environment that already is hostile to Slytherins, would any Slytherin on the same social standing had been his friend?
I mean he already pissed off the biggest bullies in their year so anyone on a similar social standing might not want to be friends with him out of fear of being more on James and co. raider than they already are, plus this is especially true for maybe another Slytherin -- (Slytherins stick together because of their bad rep. Professor's are no help usually.)
Any other Slytherin would be above him, and most likely not spare him the time of day.
Why would other houses help the weird kid with a huge target on his back?
And if magically he made friends, perfectly find friends who don't let Potter's bullying fly or any house's bulling fly and fight back. If they did manage to be Severus' friends, would Lily approve?
I mean, how do we know someone is a threat?
Don't we either learn through the grape vine or our own eyes?
Well, other houses are side eyeing Slytherin, for being death eaters -- so the muggleborns are sticking close together. Maybe even the houses are protecting their muggleborn friends in whatever way:
"Hey this one's family is a death eater..."
"That one's relative is a supporter..."
"Stay away from them."
I mean we know James and co are on the lights side, so obviously, their actions and pranks are cool because they would never stoop to such a disgusting level.
Does that translate to :
If James and co. Don't approve of this person and are acting out against them ----
They are fight the good fight?
I mean, we do know Mulciber and Avery do become deatheaters.
But -- we don't hear anything about James and co fighting them. We hear Lily being weary of them.
is any Slytherin a good enough friend, for Severus and is Severus a Slytherin good enough to be friends with any other house?
Unimportant to the post:
Looking at Harry 's own friend group with Ron and Hermione. I meant to talk about a balance in friend groups, but I just realized you might think Harry is the leader, which is was at a point since Ron and Hermione didn't get along at the start.
But in truth Ron is the glue, while Harry has the leader status.
That's all, this post is long enough.

my impression of the marauders as somebody who is extremely new to the fandom
this will probably make people mad. i am ready for that.
remus lupin -> he seems cool. his lore is fascinating. imagine being bitten by a werewolf and having your entire life ruined just because somebody has beef with your dad. that's some tea. i think his personality is cool, he seems very rough-and-tumble while also being quiet and plaintive, and i love how he has more street-smarts than book-smarts. the chocolate jokes are already getting old, though, i fear. besides aren't dogs allergic to chocolate?
sirius black -> this guy also seems cool. i like his natural swagger he's got going on. i hate how people are framing him as some "puppy dog" character when he's clearly got such a suave and effortless cool factor that clearly differentiates him from the others. i also think his lore is interesting. i love when the older sibling is the scapegoat, i feel like so often, the younger sibling is victimized in fandoms and i like the little reverse of expectations with that.
james potter -> THIS GUY IS MY FAVORITE HE IS LITERALLY ME. i think jegulus is stupid (to me, it just seems like a bunch of walking talking tropes, no real substance, and i hate how it frames james as some overly-masculinized knight-in-shining-armor archetype with no real personality of his own besides being regulus' savior), and i love how he defends lily from the others' teasing. i adore how his lore and personality set him up for such an interesting character development. it is so interesting to follow an uncorrupted child who has never known pain, to see him throw himself into harm's way because he feels like he has to. i also LOVE that he is a deer because i've always seen myself a deer-like sort of person. and oh did i mention that james is literally me? also his personality seems like such a nice mix of mr. popular and a fantastical, elvish presence.
peter pettigrew -> idk how to feel about him. he kinda pisses me off but i also feel like too many people are writing him off when he has the potential to be just as interesting a character as all the others. i kind of resent the idea that he was a "traitor" type from the start because the idea of him being a traitor is supposed to be a huge surprise that nobody saw coming. i love the idea of him being like a well-meaning jokester sort of person who sometimes goes too far, but just wants to be liked and wants to belong very badly.
regulus black -> okay so this is probably very unpopular but i think regulus is such an interesting antagonist. i don't want to redeem him. i don't want to ship him with any of the marauders. i think he best serves the universe as an antagonist role, somebody who holds so much bitterness and fear in his soul, to the point where he is destroying himself and everything around him to try and get what he wants - but the problem is that he does not know what he wants. i previously mentioned that i think the ship between him and james is dumb, and i stand by that. i think it would be cooler if regulus and james were sort of like enemies, though not overtly. regulus feels like james is taking away sirius and further corrupting him, destroying who sirius was. james feels like regulus is preventing sirius from growing and escaping his life of misery. but the thing is, they both love sirius. just in very complex ways. i love the idea of regulus being a tortured villain, his situation does not excuse his awful actions, but they explain them in a way that makes your heart ache for him, and then makes you feel like a weird asshole for feeling bad for him. that just seems so cool to me.
lily evans -> this is MY GIRLLL. i think she is so cool, so sweet and smart. the only thing with her that i find a bit annoying is that she's close with snape, who i find super annoying. but i love her attitude and her vibe. she's a strong woman without being one of those obnoxious "i'm a strong female character" archetypes. her strength lies in her actions, not her words. i also do think that her relationship with james is adorable and i hesitate to throw it away for the sake of gay ships, but i do think canon deviance with the marauders ships offers so much creative freedom, so james is not the only person i could potentially see her with. i think she could offer such an amazing platonic role in any story, and i hate the notion that the only storyline she offers is a romantic connection with james.
marlene mckinnon -> again, i am obsessed with her. i do not know much about her compared to the other characters, but what i do know about her, i love. i think she is so fun, and her personality is a great mix of strength and integrity. she sort of reminds me of a happier version of katniss from the hunger games. willing to fight for what she believes in, but she uses her power to support her values. i also feel like she and katniss have a similar dry humor that is so funny without even trying. i also love the idea that out of all the marauders, she is among the ones with the least emotional intelligence, in the sense that she isn't a "voice of reason" character like lily is. i hate when all of the woman characters are magically emotional geniuses.
severus snape -> i think he is incredibly annoying and i hate the narrative that he's just a poor baby who was bullied by the marauders. i just feel like he has such a victim complex about everything, and a lot of jealousy when it comes to his relationship with lily. i get that he did not have as much social power as the marauders, but if you play with fire, you're going to get burnt. i don't view him as completely unsympathetic per se, but i much prefer to view him from an antagonistic lens. he just seems like such a whiner. like if you don't want people to make fun of you, then don't be an asshole to them? maybe i am being overly harsh, but as somebody who was bullied, i think it is ridiculous to frame snape's situation as bullying because he is literally such an instigator. the whole point of bullying is that it is unprompted. like come on he is NOT a little wet cat of a victim.
and the other characters, i do not know enough about to form a coherent opinion. i do know of dorcus, alice, preston, and emmaline, but not nearly enough. i would love some advice on who they are and what they contribute to the story!
also i have not read all of "all the young dudes", i made it to chapter nine and then got overwhelmed by all the names, so i got the quick cliffsnotes of the lore from my best friend. i don't care about spoilers, i would actually love them!
also please don't get mad about my opinions, this is all lighthearted and again, i don't know shit about this fandom so i am pulling most of this out of my ass.

I put this idea into a wolfstar discord server but I felt the need to put this into the world.
I PRESENT...
restaurant au
sirius's pov
server/bartender sirius, new at the job, freshly disowned at like 22 or something. he has a reputation around town for being a bit of an asshole because of his majorly asshole family, and when he's working, he is working, and he makes money because he's young and pretty (not necessarily because he's any good at his job) and some people don't like that. also because of the whole, straight into serving and thrown onto bar because he's friends with james despite no experience. but he's charming and people eventually warm up to him.
line cook remus (with the amount of cigarettes he smokes it only makes sense, also imagine sirius trying to flirt his way to free food and remus being like "lol no", might work with customers but not with me). HIS SCARS ARE FROM A WORKPLACE ACCIDENT FROM WHEN HE WAS LIKE 18 THAT CAUSES CHRONIC PAIN BUT HES SO GOOD AT HIS JOB THE KEEP HIM THERE AND HES BEEN WORKING IN RESTAURANTS SINCE HE WAS 16? ALSO FLEAMONT LOVES HIM.
fleamont owns the place, hence how sirius gets the job in the first place, and like james is a manager because nepotism. sirius and james met in school and were close ever since. james is like, the cool manager who actually listens to the employee and takes their side but does it so kindly that nobody really minds it. everyone loves james. he is the sun.
peter is a busser, (why did i put him as a busser? because they're overworked and underpaid and under appreciated which is how it lowkey went in their friend group, it also puts him in a place of admiration or envy because he wants to be where sirius or remus or james are at, and they don't see why because their jobs are all respectively hard but peter just sees the money BECAUSE BUSSERS ARE NEVER FAIRLY COMPENSATED FOR THEIR WORK (-a server)) he betrays them after effie and fleamont dies and james takes over the business he starts stealing money and stuff and forging checks to the homophobic organization called the death eaters.
lily is the main chef. chef lily. yes chef, please step on me. when remus starts to fall victim to sirius's charm she checks him right then and there and is like "uh no you don't". she yells at james to keep his servers in line because he manages foh and "GOD DAMN IT JAMES WHO THE FUCK RUNG UP THIS TICKET" (it was sirius). i present. chef lily.
marlene is also a server, and so is mary. the two are the work besties when they serve. they always are together, their sections are right next to each other and lily loves them so much because they know how to ring up a ticket. marlene is very popular with the younger crowd and older people love mary. their sections are always next to each other.
dorcas is a host and works to go. the end. she hosts and gets pissed off because her saying "Sirius. I seat in a rotation" and "McKinnon. You've been here for 10 minutes you are not cut." just make sense to me. she can take charge and lead and her manning to go and hosting at the same time makes sense to me.
eventually regulus escapes. he gets a job there and actually was a death eater. i think it would be funny if sirius convinced james to put him in foh to fuck with him, but he doesn't survive one day without threatening a customer (sirius intervenes and smooths it over. not really. there's a brawl in the dining room) and so james puts reg on the lined, where he meets remus and lily.
evan dies. he doesn't make it out of the death eaters. he was at the wrong place at the wrong time and he gets killed by a police officer. barty gets arrested, he goes to the police officers house and tortures him and his wife and gets arrested with other death eaters, even though they weren't gay and were white and straight and everything the group idealized. that's what made regulus run, and that's why pandora ends up taking her life.
tom riddle is a political figure. in the background of everything he is looming and is trying to write homophobic legislation and pass it into law. his followers are the death eaters. dumbledore is another political figure. it's the lesser of two evils.
the blacks are known as important polititians (orion) and a cutthroat lawyer (wally), and they make many donations and publicly announce their support to the death eaters. the potters are known for their monopoly on restaurants in london, with fleamont managing them and effie taking care of the legal part. they're both known to be kind instead of cold.
Anyway.
one time sirius gets absolutely berated, and actually hit by a table because apparently he was flirting with the girlfriend of the man there (he was not)and he acts impassively and just turns around and walks to the back where he starts sits in the walk in. remus comes in because they're all looking for him 10 minutes later because "sirius GET YOUR FOOD". he finds him just sitting blankly and tells him to get his food. when sirius flinches, remus realizes something isn't okay. the closer remus gets the more emotions slip out of sirius until remus is holding him, oh so gently, as the new server, not only a week into his job, breaks into pieces before his eyes. There's an angry red mark on his check and remus knows. Fuck. he knows what happened out there and he should have checked on him when he saw sirius walk past him with that numb expression he sometimes gets before plastering on a smile. fuck fuck fuck. sirius is sobbing and remus doesn't know what to do, he's not good at this, his hands break and ruin and can only create with the guidance of others like lily, and then they can make something divine, but right now there's nobody there and remus doesn't know what to do with sirius fucking black, now practically sitting on his lap as he cries about his brother (he had a brother?) and his mother and god he can hear her. please remus make her stop yelling in my ears. sirius doesn't know what to do and he just sits there, helpless as the tsunami of emotions drown him. he should have never convinced reg to skip swim with him because now he can't breathe and he's gasping for air as tears and snot fill his lungs and mouth and fuck he needs the money. his tables have been neglected for what, 20 minutes? what if he was sat. he needs the money but he can't go out like this, his carefully placed makeup smudged with the heel of his palm. calloused fingers swipe under his eyes and he flinches away and cries and apologized more. scarred hands hold his face and tell him it's okay and there's a noise and talk and maybe that's pete but he can't tell and james is here. james is here. and he's being led to the managers office and god it was so cold in there. he's being told to go home and fuck he's fired. oh but he isn't and the kind scarred man who hasn't left his side, who's rough fingers are interlaced with his, is going to drive him home and he trusts him. he trusts remus lupin.

How I think the marauders came up with their nicknames:
(This is half way through fifth year and half way through making the map btw. They became animagus last summer- end of fourth year)
It all starts Monday evening.
“Right, I’ve got my book from the common room, wanna play chess while James has his shower Pete?”
Peter nods and they get to playing. Sirius is relaxing on his bed. James’ shit singing is a suitable faint background noise for his stupid head right now.
For some dumb reason, he hasn’t been able to take his mind of Remus all day (or his eyes- it’s getting bad- he’s literally staring at his fucking hair and back now).
James emerges from his shower and does his usual belly flip onto Sirius’ bed. He’s still wet from the shower and he would be pissed, but it’s common to have James invade his space now. It’s nicer than having a brother who never comes anywhere near him.
“Still mooning over Remus then?”
He never should’ve admitted that he fancies Remus. They’ve been treating him like some chick with a crush ever since.
“Alright James, at least let me be moony in peace.” He rolls his eyes and gets up to go occupy Remus’ bed (only because it’s free and James wouldn’t dare sit on his bed while soaking wet… and he’s not sat there because it smells of him or because it’s weirdly soft or because his jumpers here and- fuck maybe he is acting like some girl).
As he falls onto Remus’ bed, James springs off Sirius’. He’d better not come near him again.
“That’s it! Moony. Remus, your nickname will be Moony.”
They’ve been trying to think up nicknames as they’re working on the map now and want to brand it with more than just Marauders.
“Alright that’s not too bad.”
Although now every time he’s uses Remus’ nickname he’s going to remember this moment. He’ll never get Moony out of his head now.
But they all look too happy to debate it, and it does suit Remus.
So Sirius smiles and lets himself indulge in a moment of peace (you know, before more pranks and OWLS and all that shit).
“Pete that was marvellous! Getting away from Filch as a rat, just be careful next time, that cat got too close to your tail for my liking.”
James is right, Pete was brilliant. They were borrowing (stealing) supplies from Slughorns cupboard for their next prank, James had the cloak and Sirius and Peter had the map, but no way of escaping.
“Distracting the cat saved my butt too Pete. Did its claws reach you, you alright?” He looks alright. He looks ecstatic.
“Oh i’m alright.”
“Don’t forget to be careful, you all could end up priso- Azkaban. Man it’s so dumb you magic idiots only have one jail in Britain. Anyway, my point is, be careful.”
“Oh Moony it’s nice of you to worry but dearest Pete here would never be so dumb to get himself caught and stuck in Azkaban of all places. Sounds more like a me thing to do, to be honest.”
Pete’s been getting a lot better at lying recently. He’s an essential part of the marauder pranksters (he’s still an annoying pushover though, but they’re training it out of him).
“Alright. Just don’t lose your wormy tail Pete.”
Sirius sees Pete smile and lock eyes with James. They still have that ridiculous childhood friend idea, connection, mind reading bullshit from first year.
“Wormtail!” They both yell at each other.
”Oh Moony you’ve done it! You’re a dream. Peter you are now officially Wormtail.”
Huh?
“Erm mate, are you sure that’s the nickname you want?” Yes Remus, that’s exactly what Sirius is thinking.
Peter looks to James, and to his friends, and nods.
Alright then.
“Now just us two need nicknames.”
“Yep. Just you two idiots. The deer and the ghost dog.”
“I’m a stag-“ “Ghost dog?”
For two people who constantly finish each others sentences, Sirius and James also talk over each other a lot. But it’s worth it to see Remus roll his eyes fondly at them.
“James a stag is a deer. And Sirius, your animagus form looks exactly like the black dog from folklore. A ghost that appears all around Europe and America. They’re either death omens or guardians, I guess you’ll have to pick which one you’ll be.”
He’s obviously a guardian, no one protects Remus better than him (you’re a death omen Black… don’t forget The Prank).
“Well I don’t know about calling you ghost… Did those dogs have other names?”
“Yeah… near Sheffield is a place called Leeds. My grandparents lived there. The town has a local version of the legend, it’s known as Padfoot.”
Padfoot…
“I like it. Sirius you are dubbed Padfoot.”
“I want a nickname!” It’s literally the middle of the Great Hall and James is being a prick. Not that that’s uncommon, just usually his craziness is directed at Evans.
“James, we’ll get you a nickname.” Sirius can’t help being slightly annoyed now, he’s rejected everything they’ve thought up. Ok admittedly only Sirius and Pete have tried, Remus deemed it impossible after watching the fifth reject of a perfectly good nickname and chose not to participate in this very weird game.
“I want something good. Come on.”
Sirius beside him to Remus with desperate eyes, and all he gets is a mocking laugh.
”Do I have to do every nickname but my own? Really Pads?”
Sirius falls just a little more every time Remus shortens his nickname.
“James-“ Peter puts his arm up as protection since he’s stuck next to James, who’s swinging his arms in frustration while still clutching a fork. “Be careful with that would you?”
“Oh, sorry Wormy. My bad.”
Luckily, before Sirius has to intervene, something very, very shocking happens.
“James stop. You’re going to take someone’s eye out. Besides, you’re wrong, why would you want a nickname from these guys if the one Peter got is Wormtail?” Sirius is pretty sure he freezes when Lily, who’s sat on the other side of Remus, joins the conversation. Before he can even insult her for interrupting (and yes his mouth is already open to say something) Remus has his hand on Sirius’ thigh and looks over at him and then winks.
“Oh? Just pick James’ nickname for us Lils. Then he’ll finally shut up about it.”
Oh he’s a genius. Sirius’ brain is still half-fried from the hand that’s still on his leg (it doesn’t need to be anymore, but it still is) and so he barely notices as Lily rolls her eyes, and declares,
“Potter put down the fork. For fucks sake, just be called Prongs or something.”
Sirius’ eyes whip to meet Remus’ where they engage in a silent battle debating whether she knows his animagus form or is just making a joke about the fork he’s holding. They settle on it’s probably just a coincidence.
And since Lily said it, James is in love and they have their nicknames.
“Well then. I guess we are officially Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs.”
Sirius feels himself smile. When he first came to Hogwarts, he didn’t expect to meet people who’d change his life this much. And there’s still so many more years to come.
Oh and in case you’re wondering… yeah… Lily Evans knew.
Lily Evans knew about the deer. She played it off, but she knew. She knew about the dog. She knew about the rat. She obviously knew about the werewolf. She even knew about the map they were making and the cloak they wore- she’s a muggle after all, and in her world the sound of footsteps means someone’s there, and not just another magic trick, so she put it all together pretty fast.
Lily Evans has had a weight on her shoulders since being shunned from her family, so she learnt everything she could about the wizarding world since she knew it’d be the only place she could have a valuable future.
And yes, she knew about the war, she knew the years after Hogwarts weren’t going to be easy.
So what’s the problem with some mischief, it’s not like she wants credit… but Remus has been having some trouble with one of the rooms… and she has an idea on how to record it on their map.
They still have time until OWLS, and then NEWTS after that. Plenty of time to be young and free before…
oh well, it’s nothing to worry about now, is it?
After all, that’s what Dumbledore tells her whenever she asks.

Of Boy Bands and Crushes.
A Marauders Era fanfiction.
Talks of Unafraid Queerness, Boy Bands, British Typical Swearing and Jokes, and bullying.
“Listen, Minnie.” James started, causing a snicker to leave Sirius’ mouth as he paced their head of house’s office, arms spread out ready for a miraculous speech to (hopefully) save their arses. Normally, Remus and Peter would also be dragged into their daft, failed pranks and hexes, but as far as Sirius was aware, Remus was being a tad boring studying with Evans in the library and Peter was in the kitchens with a Hufflepuff he fancied. “I get it, I get that you’re wondering: ‘Oh, what could two handsome blokes, chaps, geniuses even, such as James and Sirius ever do wrong?-’”
He had started, but Minnie had cut them off. She was scoffing, though it was clear to Sirius that she had a rather fondness in her eyes to the two fourth years.
“The fact is, James, that you both did something wrong. You practically humiliated poor Slughorn. Come on, boys, it’s ridiculous. Something as childish as a muggle whoopee cushion?! How could you possibly find that funny?” Sirius and James both snickered at the memory. They had placed it on his seat in the Great Hall, believing it to have been the perfect crime. But somehow, Minnie had just known it was them.
Remus had introduced them to the whoopee cushion. Apparently he had found it whilst shopping with his mum. Sirius could hardly even believe the muggles had come up with something that genius! Trust their Moony to know that this was the perfect set up for pranks.
“Aww, come on Minnie! It was pretty funny.” Sirius chimed in, moving to defend his brother in arms. It was just an innocent prank, in comparison to the other ones they had pulled with their friends. Moony was normally the brains behind their antics. “Besides, even you know we’ve done worse!”
Minnie couldn’t argue with that.
They had successfully managed to get out with an extra essay for transfiguration.
"I'd say that went well!" James cheered as they met with Moony and Wormtail, the four of them now walking down the hallway together. They, as usual, had their arms slung around each other. "Minnie's a cheeky lass, ain't she?"
"I still can't believe you did the whoopee cushion prank without me." Moony chimed in, a teasing grin on his face. It was rare that Moony smiled so close to the full moon. Normally it caused him too much pain, so the only emotion present on his face was pain. "Proper violation of our friendship, that is."
It hurt them to see him so sick and frail - so they normally made it their task to cheer him up.
"Never mind that, Moons! We still have so many professors to do it too- or we could do it to Snivellus? What about that?!" James grinned, the very thought of pissing Snape off brought joy to him and Sirius.
At first they tended to avoid him. Sure, he was definitely a stuck up bastard who was more attached to Evans than she was to him. None of them liked him, but they had turned to harassment when he had started to call Moony slurs and just being downright mean to him.
"And just as Evans is beginning to warm up to Moony, you prank Snape." Peter laughed, causing Pads to grin and ruffle his hair.
"Wormy! I don't think Remus could get Evans off of him if he tried. He's the only one who will study with her." Sirius joked. Remus and Evans were both insane study warts.
"That's not true-."
"Sure it ain't mate. Have to say, I am rather jealous." James chimed in to Sirius and Remus' debacle.
"Ah yes, Prongs is still infatuated with her daring red hair." Sirius laughed, pulling off his scarf and wrapping it around Remus's head. "Oh, Evans! Won't you dance with me?" He grabbed Moony's hand and pulled him ahead of them, twirling him around and dipping him dramatically.
"Padfoot!" Remus laughed, shoving him off and whacking him with the scarf playfully. "Just because that's what James fantasizes about in his wildest dreams doesn't mean I want a part of it." He chuckled whilst Sirius gasped in mock offense.
"Why Moony, I am hurt. Can't you see my undying love for you?" James then interrupted, wrapping his arms around both of their necks.
"Yeah, Moony! Haven't you seen? Sirius is more in love with you than he was that woman in the old muggle magazine. What was her name?"
"We don't talk about her, Prongs." Sirius grimaced, as if reliving a past memory that he wanted to forget.
"If anything I'm surprised he had a magazine of anyone other than Queen or the Beatles." Peter chuckled, shaking his head slightly at the memory of the concerts he and Remus had to constantly endure from James and Sirius.
They had them in the common room sometimes, too.
"Oh, if only Remus would look at me the same way he looks at Bowie." Sirius sighed longingly, before following on flipping his hair rather dramatically and glancing at Remus, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. "Practically stripping the bloke naked with his eyes."
Remus, in return, scoffed and shoved him playfully. "You can piss off. His level of attractiveness is unmatched."
James laughed his loud, boisterous laugh that they had all come to love. "Oh yeah, mate! Bowie's well fit." He nudged Remus, before adjusting his own tie as he glanced at someone in the hallway.
"Oh really? I thought you had a thing for certain Slytherins."
James choked. Remus knew how to stoop to another level.
"Please, Moony. Prongs, with a Slytherin?" Sirius picked the conversation right back up, seemingly oblivious to James' unrequited crush on two people. One of them being in fact a Slytherin, (and Sirius' brother but hey he didn't have to know that.) "Do you have a secret crush on Snivellus?"
James chuckled. "Oh sod off, you twat."
Yeah, they had a lot to work on.

All The Young Dudes-Review Part 2
I finished the fic the last. I will be honest ,I read it for two main reasons:
I really wanted to know why people like this fic so much and the impact it has had on the fandom
I wanted to understand why I dislike it so much
The second one was my motivation to read (listen to) the first 100 chapters or so,after that, the first reason was why I finished it,otherwise I would not have done it.
I obsessed with knowing why I was dissatisfied with the fic,in addition with the reasons I already explained in the first review. There was something that I couldn't put my finger on that annoyed me,until it finally clicked, this fic tells and do not show.
I have several examples of this but the most simple one is the map. At first Remus creates this normal map to not get lost, right? After that the other three found out and got the idea of The Marauders Map,at that moment I was excited to see how they create it. Well,we did not get that. The next time they talk about the map,it is already done, all of it! How? When? Who the fuck knows! You just have to accept it. It was reaaaaly infuriating!
Another example is the Marauders themselves, and here I also want to talk about the obvious bias against some characters that the author clearly has.
The Marauders were supposed to have this super close, wholesome friendship, but here Remus just repeats over and over again how much they mean to him but we almost never see him interacting with them happily because he is mopping, fighting, screaming or angry about something they say/do/have and that he doesn't ,it could be money/family/status/legacy. Is annoying to read to be honest.
James' whole personality (at least from Remus pov) is that he likes quidditch and Lily and after that is he likes Lily and quidditch and that's it,nothing more. How am I supposed to believe that he is important to Remus if James has been a two-dimensional character for the past 10 years?
The worst case is Peter. Gosh, his character situation is kinda hilarious. Since Remus first interaction with Pete,Remus only thinks of him as an idiot and annoying, and treats him the same way,if they interact of course, because Peter is there but Remus makes zero efforts to befriend him. Big narrative mistake. Worst is that after the graduation I can count on my fingers the times Peter is mentioned or interacted with, and I am pretty sure that I will not be using all of them,no joking.
The problem comes in the "betray", because upon hearing of the deaths of his friends, Remus literally says "oh brave, brave Peter",no gonna lie ,I literally laughed out loud,it was hilarious. Now it turns out that Remus loved him and thought of him as smart, brave and a nice, brilliant person . Like , you have to be fucking kidding me.
Also, the whole betrayal plot was really stupid,or at least makes every character look that way. The Order are like "oh there is an spy,and we narrowed it down to James or his friends. The options are:
James and Sirius who are most of the time together doing missions
Remus who is at his house all day or doing missions
Peter, who constantly disappears, makes excuses about it and does not interac with his friends that much anymore
Blimey,who could it be?"
Honestly you all deserved to die for being so dumb.
Another examples of bias against a character is Regulus. Like, most of his screen time (which is limited) he is an asshole, but what pissed me off was not that,it was his death. In the newspaper was the news of his death and it was mentioned that Regulus was really smart and a promising quidditch player (stuffs that are facts) and then Remus thought those were lies and Regulus was just average, but he supposed they have to make him see better than he was because of his family. I was like "wtf, why would you say that?" Remus is just an asshole for no reason.
The other example is Albus. He is cruel just because, and Remus despites him. If you read the books you know this is waaaaay too wrong. Like,if Albus is as evil as this fic says, why would he reach out to Remus family, helping them get Remus to Hogwarts, changing stuff at school and taking all means necessary for him to finish his studies?
But this answered some stuff that have been bugging me ever since I interacted with the fandom. Now I know where the romanticization of smoking or the idea that Albus is this evil old man come from.
Lastly, the relation with Sirius reminds me to a Wattpad fic. The fight and they fuck, they fight and they fuck, and after that they fight and they fuck. Everytime Remus thinks of what he likes about Sirius, he thinks about his face, how hot he is or something similar. It is never about his personality ,or hobbies,or ambitions,or something that is not his appearance. I do not even know if Remus know that information about Sirius. Everything is toxic af,and again,it makes no sense why Sirius thinks Remus is the spy if Remus is all the time in their house.
In conclusion,I think the fic became so popular because at the time there was not other long fics so people loved it,but being long doesn't mean that is a masterpiece. Is just ok ,to me. The characterization being the worst part of it,like a 1/10 and it had some plot wholes like Remus drinking butter bear for the first time twice,or funny stuff like when Albus told them Dorcas was death and everyone was like "oh ,no...anyway...", and stuff like that. I am also very disappointed of the lack of the Triwizard Tournament. I was waiting, and waiting, and waiting for it and when I realized they were graduating. At least now I know what you all are talking about when you mention the fic.

“Ugh, he’s just so annoying” Lily complains as you both walk into your dorm “I mean why doesn’t he just give up already” she huffs, placing her bag down before taking a seat on the front of her bed
You sighed, shrugging off your robe, dropping it along with your bag on the floor before proceeding to collapse backwards onto your bed, ready to hear yet another rant about James Fleamont Potter. You loved Lily, you really did, but every day without fail she would complain about him. To start it was justified and usually only happened when he did something that really pissed her off but over the last few weeks she would just go on and on about him every chance she got.
You weren’t even listening to her as you stared up at the celling, whatever she was talking about you’d probably heard it a million times already. It was times like these you missed Snape, he would listen to her complain all day, of course he was obsessed with her much like James, although, you had to admit James’ obsession was more endearing than your ex friends. His love was lighter, purer, while Snape’s was borderline terrifying with the way you would and still do catch him staring at her from across the room. Not to mention James would never ever call Lily a mudblood, nor would any of the other marauders, you may have thought some of their pranks were a bit extreme but at least they were all good at heart.
One marauder did grow on you the most, even more so as you both shared one class alone together and were partners in said class. You hated it, falling for him like every other girl had done before you but you couldn’t stop yourself, Sirius was dreamy, handsome and to your surprise could be really sweet. You knew you had no chance with him, no matter how close you might have gotten, he was a natural flirt and he had never made a move so you concluded he must only see you as a friend. Despite that fact, you couldn’t help but daydream about the boy.
“Y/n?” Lily looks up to see you laying on the bed staring into space “I could say anything right now and you wouldn’t hear me” she tilts her head a bit thinking before testing that statement “There’s a spider on your bed and its crawling towards your face” no response “I saw Alice kiss Frank on Tuesday” still nothing “I’m in love with James”
Lily peers forward surprised not even that got your attention. Wow, she’s really is in her own little world, she thinks as she moves to get some of her homework out of her bag, deciding to do that while she waits on you snapping out of whatever daze you’re in. As Lily starts writing and you continue to daydream, a similar conversation occurs in the boy’s dorm.
Here he goes again, Lily’s so amazing, I think I saw her smile this time after she told me to get lost, ugh. Sirius lets his head fall back onto the headboard looking up before tilting his head to look at Remus who was grating his teeth as James drones on and on while he’s trying to read. He turns his head towards Peter, chuckling a bit as it seems James has already managed to put the boy to sleep. Looking back at James his voice starts to fade out as he just watches him gesture and smile as he raves about Lily
Sirius had to admit that the way James’ eyes lit up around Lily was sweet and he was sure whatever his friend was saying at that moment was also sweet, but hearing it every day for over 6 years drove him crazy. He had had his fair share of crushes, but nothing like the way James had it for Lily, well maybe he did for one girl but he’d never admit it.
You were perfect in his eyes, he loved it when you laughed at his jokes, blushed when he flirted with you and adored talking to you about anything and everything, but he never made a move for two reasons. One, as weird as it sounded he was scared to ruin what you had. Two, you just so happened to be Lily’s best friend and he was terrified you would think he was using you to help his own best friend or think he was nothing more than the school’s heartbreaker and you were his latest ‘victim’ as the rumours would call it.
Sirius was pulled out of his own daydream by a pillow hitting him in the face “Oww” he grabs the pillow throwing it straight back at James “What the hell Prongs” he huffs
“Glad I have your attention now, you’ve been sitting staring into space for like an hour mate” Sirius shakes his head looking around to see Remus and Peter are no longer there and the sun had gone down “What were you thinking about” James prods
“Nothing, just spaced that’s all” Sirius shrugs trying his hardest not to blush in embarrassment for daydreaming about you all that time
“Mhm” James hums back his tone knowing but doesn’t say anything “Moony and Wormtail are off to the kitchens to get snacks, wanna go and pretend we’re flitch again, they have my cloak but I swiped the map before they left” he holds up the bit of paper wiggling his eyebrows
“Moonys gonna kill us” Sirius smirks getting up and following James out “But it’s gonna be so worth it”
Walking into class you sit in your regular seat at the back, beginning to get out your stuff as you feel someone sit next to you. Looking over, you smile seeing Sirius getting his own stuff out, as he’s racking through his bag presumably for a quill he turns to you giving you a smile
“Morning love” he winks before turning bacl to his bag
“Morning Sirius” you greet back before biting your lip as you turn away, even now a small act like that made butterflies appear in your stomach
“Ah ha” Sirius pulls out the quill holding proudly smiling at you but his expression turns into a confused one as you begin to giggle “What” he starts chuckling unable to stop himself laughing with you
“Its…” you point at it “…a bit broken” your giggles increase as you see Sirius look at the quill inspecting it before the feathers tip over practically folding in half, making him laugh as he face palms “Can I…”
“Here” you hand him yours, then reach down into your bag to grab your spare
“Thanks love, don’t know what I’d do without you”
“Probably have an excuse to not write anything down” you tease
“Cheeky” he nudges you “Remember last year when you were all sweet and innocent” he leans into you pretending to reminisce “Whatever happen to that girl”
“You’re just jealous I have better patter than you now” you smirk
Just as Sirius was about to clap back the lesson starts, the professor explaining something that was bound to come up on the exam next semester while you watched Sirius doodle. His drawings were interesting, you had no idea why he drew them but you did recognise some symbols. Like there would be ones which represented the moon, probably for Remus, some for stags, must be James and then some others for dogs and rats, himself and Peter. You and Lily along with Alice, Marlene and Dorca had speculated about the marauder’s ‘nicknames’, wondering why they would choose them but you figured maybe it was their favourite animal or something.
Soon the professor leaves you to do the exercise while they mark some papers, you start working on writing up some things from the book in front of you, while Sirius continues to doodle. You had gotten used to working as you both had hushed conversations so when he shifts a little closer to you, you leant closer too to listen
“So how are you doing, Lily looked a bit pissed off this morning” he chuckles recalling breakfast where James was yet again rejected
“As per usual” you giggle back, to start you didn’t want to speak about Lily but it was nice to have some light-hearted fun as you both joked about your friends “He’s never going to give up, is he?”
“Never” he shakes his head “Just between us you think he has a chance?” he peers over his tone a bit more serious
You look up at him, breath hitching realising how close you were “umm” you turn back to your work unable to form an answer while he’s looking at you like that “Honestly?”
“Brutally”
“I think so, maybe not a the start, Lily definitely liked Snape for years but now?” you look back up at him “I’m almost certain she likes him back”
Sirius smiles brightly, clearly happy for his friend “I won’t tell him, he raves enough about her already” he starts to mock James’ voice quietly as you try your hardest not to snigger too loud “Oh my Lilypad looks so wonderful today, Pads did you see her face it was glowing, the way her hair was flowing in the wind earlier made her look like a goddess” he chuckles “Merlin, you think he’s annoying from what you’ve seen, trying sharing a dorm with him for almost 7 years and live with him for 2” he shakes his head “I love him but he drives me insane”
“Trust me I know how you feel, every night all I hear is James did this, James done that, can you believe he called me his Lilypad, blah blah blah blah blah blah” he smiles at your own mimicking
“I just wish they would get together already so we can get some peace” Sirius says as he shakes his head
You nod as he turns back to his doodles, as you sit you think for a moment before turning back “What if they did and we just gave them a little...push?” you propose
“What do you mean?” he raises an eyebrow clearly intrigued
“Well, I think you might be rubbing off on me a little bit but we could come up with a plan which pushes for them to interact in a normal way. Like James always tries to approach her and flirt but what if we just got them into a regular conversation, shame it’s not closer to Christmas we could include a little mistletoe to turn it romantic” you ponder “Either way it’ll work out well for them, even if the motive behind it is in our own self-interest” you chuckle nervously
“I like it” he nods before leaning closer to you “So glad I’m starting to corrupt you” he whispers into your ear, smirking as he pulls back seeing how much it affected you
“Shut up” you pout nudging him “We need a plan though and I have no ideas” you shrug
“Well darling” your heart leaps at the new nickname “That’s what I’m here for, you just sit and look pretty while I explain my amazing plan”
You blush at the compliment before turning to listen to his ‘plan’ but see he’s in thought “Got nothing huh?”
“Not a one”
About a week later Sirius approached you and Lily while you were studying, although you had seen him over at another table with the other marauders for a while before he got up and walked over
“Hey” he greets you both
“If you are here to convince me to…” Lily starts but Sirius cuts her off
“Actually, I wanted to talk to y/n” he flashes you a smile, but it isn’t the one you had grown used to this one resembled the one he used when flirting and it made your stomach feel all funny especially when he added “Alone”
“Oh” Lily is a taken aback looking over to see your reaction as your eyes are fixated on Sirius
“Sure” you nod quickly “I’ll be back in a bit” you smile at your friend as you follow Sirius out of the library to talk leaving Lily mildly confused but a small smile appears on her face
You look back to see the other marauders looking at you, furrowing your eyebrows as you seen James with a shit eating grin, Remus was a small smile as he soon returns to his book and Peters eyes wide a similar grin to James like they are all waiting in anticipation. As you leave the library Sirius pulls you into a small enclave down the corridor
“Hi again” Sirius smiles now at you, peaking his head out to make sure none of his friends followed him out, or more specifically looking at the ground for any of their feet
“Hi” you follow his gaze looking out then back at him “Why did you pull me out like that and why were your friends all grinning like Cheshire cats at me” you ask
He snaps his head back to you “Oh well its part of the plan you see” he smirks before tilting his head “What’s a Cheshire cat?”
“Thing from a muggle book, ask Remus” he lets out an ‘ah’ in understanding before you continue “So what’s the plan?” you bite your lip as you wait for his answer
“Well, James, Remus and Peter all know that me and you are pretty good friends now and Lily knows that you are friendly with me, so” he smiles obviously proud of his own thinking
“So” you extend the syllables
“We are going to go on a date” you almost choke on the air as your eyes go wide “Not a real date like a fake date” he clarifies although his heart ache a bit saying the word ‘fake’
You’re at a loss for words, a series of little noises coming out as you open and close your mouth trying to process before eventually forming a sentence “How… How is us going on a date going to help James and Lily?” struggling to understand how his thought process led him to you both going on a ‘date’
“Well it’s not just going to be us” if your confused look could grow any more than it could in that moment it did “It’s going to be a double date with the two of them”
You lean back on the wall behind you, crossing your arms as you look back up at him “Sirius?”
“Yeah?” he smiles like he doesn’t realise his plan had one pretty obvious flaw
“You do realise that the point of the plan was to get them, together right? I mean if we could go on a double date with them then our problems would already be solved?”
“Yes love, there’s more so let me finish” you give him a sceptical look “Please I promise it’s a better plan than you think, I have thought this through” he convinces
“Fine” you give in
“You told me that they needed an excuse to be around each other civilly even try to coax them into something romantic” you nod slowly “Well, you know my reputation so wouldn’t it make sense that when you run off to tell Lily that I asked you to Hogsmeade this weekend you only agreed if she could come too because you were nervous?” Sirius tries his best not to smile as he sees the cogs turn in your head
You go to argue his plan but stop thinking about it, that might actually work in some chaotic Sirius type of way, “So the four of us go on a double date and while we pretend to be on said date we make some opportunity to leave them alone to talk to one another?” you look up to make sure you got the plan right
“Exactly darling, its good isn’t it?” he wiggles his eyebrows
You roll your eyes “it’s okay” you shrug pursing your lips as you try not smile
“Okay” he leans down, making your head jerk back a bit “Only okay?”
You sigh “It’s a surprisingly good plan” you admit
“Thank you” he stands back up straight, happy with your tinting cheeks “Great it’s time to set the plan in motion, especially now you’re all cute and flustered” he winks at you before gesturing for you to follow him back into the library, as you follow beginning to blush more at him calling you ‘cute’
You looked over at Lily as she read her book on her bed, sighing for probably the hundredth time, trying to figure out exactly how you were going to word this. Although it turned out your nervous sighs and constant glances at her seemed to work in your favour as Lily brings up the subject for you, huffing as she closes her book, swinging her legs around to face you
“Okay you have been acting like this since Sirius talked to you earlier, so what is it?” she tilts her head, a part of her knowing what you could be nervous about
You lift your head up, moving to sit facing her from your own bed, realising you could just pretend he did ask you and tap into how you would actually react “Please don’t be mad at me” you cringe knowing that if it did happen you would worry if she would be mad you were going on a date with James’ best friend
Lily takes a breath, whatever going on in her brain confirming itself “He asked you out, didn’t he?”
“Little bit” you nod “To Hogsmeade this weekend”
“That’s great”
“You really think so?” you perk up
“Yeah you two have been getting closer for a while it was about time” Lily shrugs smiling at you
“Oh” you smile, heart fluttering as you think you maybe have a real shot if Lily thinks so “I’m just a bit nervous” you think about what Sirius said earlier about his reputation “He’s a bit of a player, you know?”
She nods, moving off of her bed and sitting next to you “I know, but you both have been getting closer over the last year if he only had that as his intention he would have given up by now, right?”
You nod as you peer up at her, unable to help yourself “You know who else hasn’t given up yet either”
“This isn’t about me” she gives you a pointed look, to which you raise your hands in defeat
You smile timidly at her as you get ready to break the news “Small thing” you chuckle nervously “I might have slightly roped you into going as well”
“What do you mean?” she asks hesitantly
“I was nervous about going out with him alone so he suggested a double date kind of thing and I said yes because I really do want to go out with him” the weird thing was as you spoke to her you didn’t have to lie, even if the truth was bended a bit you really did want to go on a date with him even if it was fake
“Let me take a wild guess who the fourth person will be” she sighs closing her eyes
“I’m sorry Lily” you apologise
“It’s fine, I’ll do it…” she opens her eyes before pointing at you “…but only because I love you”
“Thank you” you pull her into a hug, as she hugs you back you look up at her “You never know you might have…”
“Don’t push it” she warns, both of you breaking out in giggles
Meanwhile, Sirius was sitting on his bed waiting for James to get back from detention, as he leaned on the head board he got Remus’ attention “Moony?”
“Yeah Pads” the boy replies but doesn’t stop reading keeping his eyes on his book
“What’s a Cheshire cat?” he asks thinking back to what you said earlier
This seems to get Remus’ attention as he sits up “Where did you learn that from?” he looks at him confused it wasn’t everyday Sirius came to ask about muggle things, let alone something from muggle literature
“Y/n said it earlier, she said you were all grinning at her like Cheshire cats?” he shrugs puzzled
Remus lets out a small laugh before he hums in recognition “It’s from a muggle children’s book called Alice in Wonderland, there’s a cat in it which has a constant grin on his face…” he sits up “…Actually give me a minute I’m sure I have the book here somewhere” Remus leans over his bed hanging off it as he looks under it searching for the book
Sirius chuckles at his friend before turning to the door as James enters the dorm “Prongs, finally” he scoots forward on the bed “I have some very exciting news” he rubs his hands together
“If it’s you asked out y/n then we know it was pretty obvious from her flushed…oww...flushed cheeks and your cheshire grin” Remus calls out his voice strained as he’s practically hanging upside down as he looks under his bed, cursing as he hits his head when his hand slips
“One, that is technically a part of the news but there is more which concerns old prongsey here. Two, don’t use terms I don’t understand yet and three, Moony for the love of Godric just get off the bed your gonna make your head explode” Sirius huffs but his tone morphs into concern near the end, well more of an amused concern but concern none the less
“I am not going to…fuck” Remus attempts to answer before falling head first off of the bed landing with a small thump “Oww”
“You okay man?” James calls out as he and Sirius look at each other with cringing expressions
“Yeah” he calls back as Sirius and James can’t help but chuckle a bit
“So, what was the news for me” James turns to Sirius, sitting on the edge of his own bed facing him, both ignoring Remus’ small groans
“Oh” Sirius looks at him eagerly “Well y/n was a bit nervous to go on the date herself so I suggested a double date”
“A double date with who…” James extends the last word as his eyes blow wide “Lily?”
“The very one” Sirius gives him a toothy grin
“Oh merlin” James stands up smiling like a mad man “When’s the date?”
“Next Hogsmeade trip so Saturday” Sirius replies
James nods happily before looking at Sirius for conformation “She’s agreed right, like Lily knows it’s me?”
“Yes” he nods
“Oh my god” James breaths out “Where’s Wormtail?” he looks around the dorm
“Kitchens…yes!…oww” Remus answers, cheering as he finds the book before hitting his head as he comes out from under the bed “Got it” he smiles holding the book up before sighing, there was really a better way of doing that, maybe I shouldn’t keep them all under the bed
James looks at Remus confused not understanding the context behind the situation so he turns back to Sirius muttering a quick ‘bye, I’ll bring back celebratory food’ as he runs out the dorm to blab presumably to Wormtail about the good news
“Your head alright?” Sirius asks as Remus walks over to him flicking through the pages
“Yeah, I’m pretty much invincible at this point” he chuckles a bit, finding the page and handing it to Sirius “That’s the Cheshire cat” he points to it
Sirius’ smiles taking it from him before a look of horror appears on his face “That’s terrifying and that’s a children’s book! Merlin muggles are weird what they trying to do scar their children” he shakes his head quickly shoving the book back trying get the image out of his brain, before huffing as he crosses his arms “I did not look like that earlier”
You were waiting for Lily to come out of the bathroom so you looked at yourself in the mirror, adjusting your outfit out of nerves. You knew it wasn’t a real date but that didn’t make you any less nervous nor excited for it. While in class, you both had discussed what to do on the date, deciding to all head to the three broom sticks first for some lunch and drinks then walk around the shops afterwards knowing Lil needed to get someone from Tomes and Scrolls. While talking about how you were going to act Sirius suggested you both act as you would on a normal date to which you agreed knowing that on your side it’s going to look pretty realistic
Smiling you turn around seeing Lily exit the bathroom through the mirror “Ready?” you ask
“As I’ll ever be” she jokes leading the way out of your dorm
As you walk down the stairs to the common room, Sirius and James are leaning on the couches as they wait. James spots you and Lily first standing up straighter as he runs his hand through his hair, Sirius looks up at his friend standing up himself as he looks over to see you and Lily walking up to them, you got this Sirius, he thinks as his eyes quickly scan your appearance. Sure, he should have been more preoccupied with helping his friend but as he saw you all he could hope for is this fake date goes so well he might just get a real one
“Hi Lily” James smiles brightly at the girl
“James” Lily nods before looking between you and Sirius as you greet him
“Hi Sirius” you fiddle with your hands a bit under his gaze
“Hey y/n” he smirks “You look beautiful love, although don’t you always” he winks
You can’t help but blush, muttering a meek ‘thank you’ as James speaks “We should get going, Lily” he gestures for her to go first, to which she gives a small smile which made the boy turn back and cheese at the two of you
“Ready love” Sirius holds out his arm
“Ready” you link it with his letting him lead you out
Entering the three broomsticks, you all look around trying to spot a free booth, soon Lily points one out in the corner gesturing for you to follow her over. Sirius says he and James will get the drinks while you sit down and for the first time since you left the common room he unlinks your arm from his giving you a smile before heading to the bar. As you walk towards the booth you feel colder without Sirius’ arm instantly missing the contact, little did you know he was feeling the same way.
You sit down across for Lily so she’ll have to sit next to James although if you were being honest you just wanted to be as close to Sirius as possible. You look up at the boys as they chat with the girl tending the bar, before turning back to Lily as she taps your foot under the table
“Nervous?” She asks
“Little bit” you nod giving her a small smile
“I think he really likes you by the way” she whispers, taking a quick glance to check the boys weren’t headed back yet
“Really?” you lean forward also checking
“Yeah he couldn’t keep his hands off you the whole way here” she looks up “Here they come you’ll be fine gal” she gives you a reassuring squeeze to your hand before leaning back in her seat
“Four butterbeers” Sirius announces as he places yours and his on the table, slipping into the booth next to you as James does the same with Lily
You all take some sips, before looking over at Lily who has a foam moustache “Lils you got a little” you gesture to your face
“Oh” she blushes turning her face away from James as she clears it off, to which James smiles down lovingly at her thinking that was so cute
“You’ve got some too love” Sirius looks does at you chuckling a little, as you go to wipe it off Sirius stops you “Let me” he says taking the pad of his thumb swiping it over your upper lip before placing it in his mouth licking off the foam, smirking at your little gasp and flushed appearance
Meanwhile Lily and James look at each other for a moment, both with knowing smiles at the scene, the latter coughing a little to draw your attentions back. You and Sirius turn back to them, you trying to regain some composure while Sirius just smiles to himself as James starts a conversation
“So” James starts thinking what to say before remembering what happened in the dorm with Remus “Pads, why was Remus looking for that book?” he asks
“Book?” Lily looks up asking, to which James ignores Sirius as he was about to answer deciding this was his time to shine
“Right, so I came back from…” he hesitates before just being honest “…detention the other day, to Remus with his arse in the air leaning over the bed looking under the bed for something” you and Lily start giggling at the image while Sirius just sits back smiling eyes flicking to watch you laugh “So me and pads are just talking while he’s already hit his head once slipping trying to keep himself up, swearing he’s not going to hurt himself and as he says as such he just falls right off the bed” Even James starts laughing remembering the moment
“Aww poor Remus” Lily says trying to hold in her giggles by putting a hand over her mouth
“Anyways, he finally finds this book after hitting his head a few more times holding it up success” James pretends to hold a book loving Lily’s attention on him for once, soon he turns back to Sirius “So what was the big deal?”
Sirius freezes a second, glancing at you before he answers a tad embarrassed “Well” he scratches the back of his neck “I was asking him about this phrase I didn’t understand and he was explaining but decided to show me it from the book instead”
“What was the phrase?” Lily asks intrigued, James nodding in agreement next to her both unaware they have sub-consciously shuffled closer to each other
“Ugh” he lets out a laugh “Grinning like a Cheshire cat”
Your eyes light up, you hadn’t expected him to actually ask Remus and your heart fluttered as he looked down at you. He smiled a bit seeing your own spreading across your face before you both look back at Lily who starts talking about Alice in Wonderland although she mostly explains it to James
Returning from the bathroom, you slip back into the booth to see James and Lily talking among themselves looking quite comfortable in each other’s company
“I think this is going rather well” Sirius leans down speaking quiet enough only you could hear
You nod slowly turning up to look at him, eyes widening at how close you are “Umm” you take a breath “Yeah, they seem to be getting along better than I thought”
“Well I did give James some do’s and don’ts before we left out dorm this morning” he chuckles a little
“Lilly spent the whole morning doing her hair and picking an outfit so she looked perfect” you smile turning your head ever so slightly to see your friend and James interacting
While you observe James and Lily, Sirius’ eyes trace over every feature of your face eventually landing on your parted lips, wondering to himself what it would be like kiss them. He reluctantly draws his eyes away as he hears James
“I’m gonna go to the bar and order us some food what do you two fancy?” he asks unable to stop smiling, you glance at Lily raising an eyebrow as she can’t stop smiling either
“I’ll have a burger and chips” Sirius replies as he slithers his arm around your waist “What do you fancy darling” he squeezes your waist making you let out a small gasp
“umm I’ll have the same” you quickly answer, smiling shyly at James as Sirius smirks at your reaction
As James walks away you, Sirius and Lily talk among yourselves, as time passes you lean into Sirius’ touch getting comfortable with him only removing his arm to eat before its right back around your waist again. Yours and his hearts are flutter with every little smile, touch and glance you share slowly forgetting the real reason you both are on the double date in the first place
“Hey can we head to Tombs and Scrolls?” Lily turns to ask as you all walk through the streets of Hogsmeade
“Of course!” James says right away hand brushing with hers as they walk in line with you and Sirius
“Sure Lils” you say as Sirius nods next to you
Sirius nudges James into Lily, making their hands clash, resulting in Lily intertwining her hand with his, to which James begins to smile brighter than the sun itself. He then presses a kiss to the side of your head making you smile up at him, biting your lip as you both continue to walk. Seeing your reaction, he glides his arm around your waist pulling you into him, making you giggle. James and Lily look over at your giggle smiling at one another then back at you both, James giving Lily’s hand a little squeeze.
Soon you approach the shop, stopping outside it as Sirius turns to James and Lily “Why don’t you two head in, we’ll hang out here” he suggests hugging you a little tighter
“Sure, come on Jamie” Lily says before her eyes widen
“What did you just say?” James looks down at her in mild shock, you and Sirius stare as well but more in an amused way almost certain you may witness James have a heart attack
“I said come on James” she corrects dragging him the store
You and Sirius chuckle together hearing James continuing to question it as the door to the shop closes. Stepping back, you both take a seat on the wall across from the store
“You really do have the best plans” you nudge him
“Well I can’t take all the credit, you were the one with the idea I just came up with the means to execute it” He wraps his arm around your shoulder “…and I must say it is being executed flawlessly”
You smile, leaning into his chest “Sure is, they’re holding hands, smiling and blushing, she even slipped up and said Jamie” your smile drops a bit as you look up at him “Although she is going to be mad when she finds out it was a set up” you scrunch up your nose
Sirius nods slowly as he meets your eyes, looking into them he decides to take a chance. You had been leaning into his touches all day, smiling and laughing with him, so either you were an amazing actress or you felt the same way he did. Either way he had to know
“Maybe we don’t tell them” he proposes
You tilt your head chuckling a bit “So we just keep going on fake dates with them indefinitely?”
“Or maybe the next one isn’t pretend?” he looks down at you, his expression earnest hope in his eyes
Your lips part looking up at him, did he just? You bite your lip for a second before a small smile appears on your face “Or maybe we were never pretending?” now it was your turn to look at him with hope
A smile breaks across Sirius’ face whispering “Not for a single moment” as he leans down slowly, your face mirrors his, tilting your head as you lean up gently capturing his lips
You pull away a few moments later, both unable to stop smiling “Who’s the Cheshire cat now?” he teases making you giggle as he cups your face bringing you in for another kiss
Unbeknownst to you a small crowd watches from the window of Tomes and Scrolls
“They thought they were being so slick” Lily shakes his head
“I know they really thought they could outsmart us love” James wraps his arm around Lily’s waist
“I will give it to them their plan was pretty good” Remus adds leaning over James shoulder
“But ours was better” Lily grins
“And the orginal” James adds, earning hums from Lily and Remus
“I have to give it to you prongs” Remus pats his friends back “it’s impressive you went weeks without announcing you two were together to the world, but did you have to be so annoying?”
Lily giggles as James huffs elbowing Remus “Hey, I had to pour my frustrations somewhere and it worked” he gestures to you and Sirius kissing
“Wait I’m confused” Peter looks between them all utter bewildered
“Oh yeah” James puts his hand over his mouth “Me and Lily got together around the start of the year but we didn’t tell anyone since she wasn’t quite ready yet...” he kisses Lily head to which earns a smile for her and the other two boys even if Peters is still laced with confusion “...and since we were together we noticed Sirius and Y/n always making eyes at each other and once we heard them complaining about us when they were walking to class when they didn’t realise we were there” James starts to explain
“So, Jamie came up with the idea of pushing them closer together by us complaining more so they had something to talk about, although, we didn’t expect them to try and set us up” Lily continues
“But that worked to our advantage, exhibit A” James nods his head at the window
“Oh, but wait, how did Moony know?” Peter nods before turning Remus
“I walked in on them once plus they needed my help to make sure neither you or Sirius saw them on the map” he explains “Oh, and she knows about the map”
“And Moonys furry little problem” James adds with Remus nodding next to him “Sorry mate we would have told you but you can’t hold your water” he apologises
Peter goes to argue before nodding and accepting it “Actually that’s...that’s pretty fair”
“Are we ever going to tell them?” Remus asks looking out of the window
“I say we save it until their wedding, it’ll make one hell of a story for the speech” James grins
“Sounds like a plan” Lily says, the others nodding next to her before she looks up at James “We should get back out there”
“Yeah, you know, now they are a thing we should so do this again, double dates are really fun” He grins as they both say ‘bye’ to Remus and Peter as they head out the door
You and Sirius had already broken apart, talking among yourselves as you looked at each other lovingly. Both looking over as you hear the door open seeing James and Lily walking out still holding hands.
“You two coming? We were thinking of going to Honeydukes” Lily says to which you and Sirius nod hopping off of the wall
You and Sirius follow behind them watching as James snakes his arm around Lily’s waist, he looks down at you smiling as he says “We are genius’” wrapping his arm around you
“Masterminds” you smile back both blissfully unaware

yayy you take requests 🥺 I really love your writing it’s one of the best I’ve come across on the internet I swear
was wondering if I can request a poly!marauder where reader is really snappy/irritated before her period and the boys don’t realize why she acts like that cause she’s usually really kind and loving. she may sometimes not even realize she’s being mean/scary?
she could then out of sudden break down crying over something very stupid - maybe because something or someone really annoyed her
and the boys are literally clueless
Hii! I’m so sorry this took so long 😭😭 this has been in my request for awhile but luckily I finished it today! I hope you don’t mind the delay, anyways I hope you enjoy it! Mwah.
P.S: I also included Peter! I hope you don’t mind (since you didn’t specify).
P.S.S: this is also really bad :)
Irritation (poly Marauders)
Reader: female (she/her)
Warning: irritation (described and displayed), swearing, fighting (mention of blood like once), intrusive thoughts, anxiety (displayed in characters, such as biting nails, words, etc), “baby, love, dove,”, mention of sex (not described though), talk of losing appetite and eating, hurt/comfort, comment to add more.
Word count: 3.6k
You woke up irritated, body aching slightly and adjusting to your upcoming period. You pick at your food, tapping your foot angrily as you listen to every chat. A good 1000 students talking was enough to give you a headache... or at least add onto the one you already had. The littlest sounds, like a fork scraping against the plate, sent you into a fit of rage and you snapped at Remus.
"We get it, the book’s good," you say, staring deep into your plate. Remus let his mouth hang open, mid sentence before closing it. The boys gave you a look, James trying to quickly figure out what the problem was. “…uh, something bothering you? No need to snap at Remus,”
“No need to snap at Remus,” you mocked, James eyebrows scrunched as he made a confused expression. Peter, who sat beside you, had his eyes slanted as he tried to figure out what your issue had been. “James wasn’t trying to-“ Peter had started, But you quickly cut him off.
“Peter, why don’t you just mind your business?” You question, you never had been mean to Peter, not as much as you joked around with the others. This banter confused Peter, and he looked away and bit the inside of his cheek.
“Hey now, don’t get bitchy,” Sirius tuned in, James had sucked in a breath as Sirius uttered the phrase. The boys stayed quiet, even Sirius knew he had said something wrong. You dropped your fork to the plate, it clanked loudly. You stood up, grabbed your bag roughly as the chair scraped against the floor from your quick movement.
“_____, love,” Peter began, trying to clear the miscommunication up with what Sirius had said. You waved him off, eyes glaring around at each of them. Remus had begun to shift awkwardly, not liking the tension, while Sirius had tried to stutter out that he didn’t mean it. James was a bit flushed, hating the anger that was now appearing. Peter had lost his appetite.
You pondered what to say, mouth slightly opened to spew out some insult but you felt ridiculous and teared up slightly. The boys just looked at you, not knowing what to say and somehow that made the situation worse.
“Why don’t you just fuck off,” you rushed out, not really knowing who that was directed towards. Before any of them could get a word in, you had walked quickly out of the dining hall.
“Why’d you say that?” Peter was the first to ask, Sirius feeling attacked over his words. “Well she was being bitchy, Peter you need to stop being such a coward and stick up for us once in awhile,”
“Pads,” James called, Peter rolling his eyes. Sirius snapped his head around, looking at each of them. “Well I’m right! She was making Moony feel bad,”
“She wasn’t making me feel bad,” Remus sighed, and Sirius shook his head and began to get a bit angry. “Yes she was, she had no right to start acting the way,”
“I don’t think we need to focus on what she said, we need to know why she acted that way,” James said, rubbing a hand over his chest. “Did she fail a test or something? Did she mention anything that was bothering her?” He pondered to them.
Everyone shook their heads, they all were confused on why you had acted that way. They had completely forgotten about your period. You never acted so vile on your period, you usually just acted the same. Yet they forgot to realise that not every period was going to be the same and emotions were heightened.
“Maybe Snape said something,” Peter thought, and Remus nodded his head. “True, I did hear that they got partnered for a project in herbology,” Remus said, and all of the boys sorta grumbled at the thought of you working with Snape.
“Yeah if I was partnered with him I’d be bitchy,” Sirius said, nodding his head like he understood now. James hit Sirius on the back hard, and Sirius shot him a look. “Stop referring to her as a bitch,” James said, upset. He never liked the degrading words used against you, there were much better words to phrase your reaction.
“Alright alright,” Sirius said in surrender, feeling guilty now for upsetting you further. Remus stayed quiet, he wasn’t upset about you snapping at him, he was upset at the fact that you felt the need to snap at him.
Peter felt wiry, he didn’t like when you were upset. He always felt like he was to blame, especially since you were always so loving. He decided to go check on you, not liking the tears he had seen in your eyes.
“Where are you going?” Remus asked, he knew exactly what Peter was intending to do but he just wanted confirmation. Sirius and James were deep in conversation, planning on pranking Snape to make you feel better (they had confirmed the issue was Snape, before even asking you what was truly wrong).
“I’m gonna go check on her,” Peter said, cleaning his plate as much as he could as he stacked the dirty dishes together. “I’ll come with,” Remus said, sitting up and Peter took Remus's plate and stacked it with his. “We’re going to go check on her,”
Sirius piped up, standing up before Remus sat him back down with a hand to his shoulder. “Not you, not yet,” Remus told him, and Sirius pouted.
Remus and Peter walked out of the dining hall, and Sirius and James conversed about the prank.
“I don’t think it’s Snape,” Peter said, and Remus nodded. “No, me neither,”
“I just can't figure out what it could be,'' Peter sighed, looking down halls and out windows to see if he could spot you. Remus nodded, sighing as well.
They stayed quiet for a bit, Peter more hyper fixed on finding you (Remus felt the same, but was much better at hiding his worry). Peter stopped, looking over at Remus. “You know she didn’t mean it,” Peter told him and Remus nodded.
“I know, I’m not mad at her,” Remus spoke, and Peter nodded like Remus had. “And you know she didn’t mean to snap at you, it’s not your fault she’s irritated,” Remus said, knowing Peter's thoughts.
Peter nodded, though half doubted it as they continued on their look for you.
—
Peter and Remus hadn’t found you, they had arrived late to transfiguration, Professor McGonagall gave them an eye and told them to sit.
“Where is she?” Sirius asked, James listening in as he leaned closer to where Remus and Peter sat in front of them. Next to James, was an empty seat. Sirius sat opposite of the empty seat.
“Couldn’t find her,” Remus said, James grew worried.
“We will look at the map later,” he said, reassuring the group but it was more for reassuring himself. They all nodded, trying to focus on class, yet they kept wondering about the thought of you.
“No I’m worried,” Sirius said after a while, Remus looked behind them as Peter bit at his nails. “Pads it’s alright; she’s fine,” James stated, but Sirius doubted him.
“You don’t know that, what if what I said made her upset!” He whispered, and Remus turned back around and let James handle Sirius.
“She’s not like that, she was clearly irritated before you talked with her, she’s probably just having a bad day,” James tried to make up any safe possible scenario, he didn’t want to think about dreadful things.
“But-“ Sirius said, and Peter whipped around. “Just shut up Sirius, alright? We will find her after class,” he grew irritated and Sirius grumbled and stayed quiet.
—
They had found you quickly with the help of their invention, but you had put up a wall and just shrugged them off.
“Baby, listen if it’s about what I said this morning,” Sirius began, but you continued to look down at your open book. The library was quiet before, and students listened in to hear the drama of the group.
“Can you just go away? I can't read when you’re talking to me,” you said, mouth in a frown. Remus was the first to realize you really did just want space and he decided it was best to let you get over your irritation, but convincing the rest of the boys was the hardest part.
“She just wants to read guys, come on,” Remus said, grabbing Sirius arm to pull him away from hovering over you (which Peter had noticed was pissing you off). James stayed in place, so did Peter.
“She can’t skip class Remus,” James said seriously, looking down at you as you continued to stare at your book, not sparing a glance at them.
“_____,” James warned, reaching out to hold your shoulder gently and you twitched and removed his hand from your shoulder. “You can't skip class love,”
“Fuck off, you never give Peter or Sirius any shit for skipping,” you scoffed, and James began to get a bit irritated with your rude behaviour.
“Yes I do-“ James was quick to defend himself, and you rolled your eyes.
“Can you seriously fuck off? Like what do you not get about me wanting to be alone? That doesn’t mean I want you around,” you snapped at him, turning around and glaring. “All of you need to fuck off,”
They stayed quiet, looking at you again such as how they did this morning. James stepped back, “alright,” he said, walking out of the library as Sirius followed behind with a grumble.
“We will see you at lunch?” Remus asked and you just ignored him. He decided to follow behind Sirius and James.
Peter stayed, weight going between each foot as he swayed back and forth. You looked over at him, an eyebrow raised as you waited for him to leave, he didn’t.
“I want you to leave,” you said, staring at him like he was incompetent. Peter shrunk slightly against your harsh gaze. “I know what you want,” Peter said, “but don’t you care what I want? What we want?”
“I don’t owe you sex,” you scoffed, misinterpreting what he meant. Peter shook his head, “No, you don’t. that’s not what I meant,”
“What could you possibly mean then?” You asked, huffing. Peter sat down beside you and you slid your chair away. Didn't you get that they were worried?
“What’s wrong,” he asked, “how can I make it better?” He felt completely hopeless. You just shrugged, the wall you had blocked them with slowly falling a bit. But then you remembered that they didn’t even know why you were upset, how could they even forget you had a period? The fury built back up again, all they cared about was themselves. It was always Remus's monthly, never yours.
“You can make it better by fucking going away,” you swore, and Peter did just that.
—
Two days went by, without much effort to talk to the boys. They all tried their hardest to catch your attention and make you feel better, yet their proposals were quickly dismissed.
James had got you many gifts, him and Sirius even snuck into Hogsmeade to get you sweets from honey dukes. You took the sweets, but dismissed them entirely.
Remus tried to talk to you about the books you had been reading, but you told him you weren’t interested in talking with him and left.
Sirius got frustrated pretty easily with not being able to hold hands with you and locked you in the broom closet with him. James had found him an hour later, knocked out.
Peter followed you around, you found many flowers left in your dorm. You had received about 10 letters from him, each every morning, before your first class, during lunch, at dinner, and before you went to bed. You had read them, cuddling with your blankets.
On the third day, you wanted attention and affection. Cramps had made you emotional, you just wanted some attention from your boys. But when you had sat by them at the table, hand going to hold Sirius’s, he had pulled it away from you. You frowned, trying again but he pulled it away. You knew something was wrong, even this morning you haven't received a good morning letter from Peter.
“So what, you think you can just come hang out with us and think nothings wrong?” James asked you, they had all grown irritated with your behaviour. You yourself hadn’t really noticed the way you had been treating them.
“What do you mean?” You asked confused, looking between each of them as they laughed. You felt hurt, knowing they were making fun of you. You tried to hold Peter's hand but he was too quick and pulled it away before you could even touch him.
“You wanted to be left alone,” he reminded you. Remus nodded his head, “you even ignored all of our gifts,” James said, and Sirius laughed and made a joke.
“I didn’t want gifts,” you told them, “when have I ever asked for gifts?” You continued, and they became quiet. Had you been rude to them?
You began to think over the last few days, some things you had done were questionable but it was justified. Couldn’t they see you were emotional?
Did they even care? Of course with these thoughts, your brain forgot to realize all the attempts they made, all the worrying they felt, all the times they talked in private and grew concerned for your well-being.
“You kept snapping at us, you can’t just be rude to us for no reason and then expect us to be okay with it, you don’t get cuddles _____,” James told you firmly, but you tilted your head, you began to get angry again.
“So when I don’t ask for something you give it to me, but when I want to hold your fucking hand that's not allowed? Do you even care what I want?” You asked, you realised how unreasonable some of what you were saying was. You had remembered what Peter had said in the library and you grew quiet.
“Nevermind,” you snapped quickly just as they were about to argue with you. You got up, saddened that you couldn’t get the affection you wanted. You left, heading to herbology.
—
The first class, along with the banter from this morning, ruined your whole day. You had to work with Snape, already in a bad mood.
He had been pretty quiet, so had you, only talking to each other about the project and what was necessary. It was all going fine until the end of the class, when he had said something that made you feel terrible.
“You and the Marauders hadn’t been hanging out recently, I guess they came to their senses that you weren’t really worth it,” he began, who knew why he had said it, but it was enough to trigger some deeper emotional rage. You screamed at him in the hallway, completely losing it at him. At some point, both your wands had been drawn and just before something bloody happened, the professor had stopped it. You had been given detention and since you had been the one that had started the duel, Snape got off scot free.
The Marauders had heard about what happened and what made it worse is that they didn’t try to find you. You passed by James and Sirius in the hall, hoping to talk to them and get all of the anger out about what Snape had said. But they just said a simple “we don’t really want to talk to you right now,”
You watched them walk down the hall, they hadn’t wanted to know if you were okay? They were always curious about any drama revolving around Snape.
You had cried in the bathroom, moaning myrtle was the only one who cared enough to ask you what was wrong. You felt pathetic relying your emotions on a ghost that lives in the bathroom, but it was somehow comforting listening to her weep along with you.
Maybe Snape was right, maybe they did come to their senses.
—
After detention, you passed by the Gryffindor portrait. You had debated for several minutes if you wanted to go see them and finally the fat lady decided to just let you in and told you a “Stop weeping outside my door, I have a date soon and you’re going to ruin it, go in go in,”
You had climbed up the steps, you were going to leave once you reached their door, but it was already open with James waiting for you.
“We saw you on the map,” he said once he noticed you were confused. “Oh,” you said, you looked completely drained and James showed a soft remorse that made you crumple.
“Shh it’s okay,” he comforted, bringing you close as you shakily sighed into his chest. Your arms came to wrap around him, lips trembling as you started to cry. “Let’s get out of the hallway,” James told you, leading you into their dorm as he closed the door for privacy. Your face still buried in his chest, weeping uncontrollably as Sirius sat up from his lying position at the sound.
Peter and Remus piped up as well, as Sirius walked over and took you in his arms. He glared at James, thinking he did something.
“What’s wrong baby?” Sirius whispered gently, guiding you over to the bed as he sat you down on James bed. “It hurts,” you say, not giving much context as they all look at you confused, high in alert and they felt guilty for ignoring you in this state.
“What hurts?” Remus asked, Peter and him had come to stand close as James sat down on the other side of you. James pressed the back of his hand to your forehead, “she doesn’t feel warm,” he told them.
“Love what hurts?” Peter repeated, you sniffled and tried to calm down enough to tell them what was wrong. “My period,” you choked, you thought they had realised by now. The boys became aware quickly that that’s what had been making you upset the past few days.
“You’re periods don’t usually make you this emotional,” James questioned and you scoffed but they decided to let it slide.
“They aren’t always the same,” you told them, wiping your eyes as your uterus twisted again. You let out another sob, you didn’t want to go through this alone.
“I’m sorry dove, we should’ve realised sooner,” Remus said, crouching down as he took you in his arms. You curled yourself into him, he picked you up and switched so he was the one sitting down.
“Snape said something,” you sniffled, face resting in Remus's neck as your nose brushed up against his neck. They all became a bit angry, not liking the sound of that.
“What did he say?” James asked, rubbing your back. You took a moment to try and phrase it, it felt embarrassing to admit that his words had worried you. “He said… that the reason you guys were ignoring me was because you came to your senses,”
“Senses to what?” Peter asked, they all had been confused. “That you didn’t like me anymore,” you whimpered the words, tears welling up again. Their hearts stopped for a second, squeezing so tight they all thought they would pass out. James was angry with himself and Snape. James and Sirius felt horrible for ignoring you right after what Snape had said, they didn’t want to prove his statement.
“That fucking bastard,” Sirius fumed, standing up but peter pushed him back down. “She needs us, going off and throwing a few punches won’t do any good,” he whispered and Sirius looked over at James, but James only agreed with Peter. “Not right now,” he mouthed before they pulled their attention back to you.
“We’re so sorry,” Remus coo’s, rocking you gently as you cry into his neck. They all feel pity and a sense of guilt. “So sorry,” you tell them, feeling horrible for snapping.
“You don’t have to apologise,” James assures, rubbing your hair as he pulls it away from your soaked face. “we didn’t know, that’s on us,”
“I didn’t tell you,” you cried, “I was so mean to you, I didn’t mean it. Snape is right,” Sirius fumes at your thoughts.
“Don’t fucking say that bastard is right, he’s a-“ remus shoots Sirius a dangerous look, telling him to shut up before he upsets you more.
“We shouldn’t have just assumed every period is going to be the same, that's on us love,” James said, kissing your temple. “It ain’t right we care for Remus on his monthly and then ignore yours,” James said and Remus shot him to look like he had Sirius.
“It’s okay,” you say, calming down as you rub your face. “It’s not,” Sirius said, kissing your shoulder. Peter cleans up your face, rubbing gently with a warm cloth.
Without saying a word, they had concluded to spoil you. James had filled a heating pad with hot water, Sirius went down to get a potion to soothe your pain, Remus was helping you into a comfy jumper and pyjamas as Peter was getting the junk food.
After everyone got back and situated, you had found yourself between Remus and James, a black dog cuddled between your legs; it’s head over your lap, while a rat was curled under your chin. A heating pad rested on your stomach, junk food around the bed. You sigh happily, resting your head on James' chest while one hand is running through a thick fur coat, your other hand occupied with Remus's. You felt comfortable, all fights dismissed and forgiven, before you fell asleep, James had whispered “you deserve us, we aren’t going anywhere, not even when it gets rough,”.

It gets messy but with a fluffy ending!
I hope that makes sense, have a lovely day!
Not my type
Sirius Black x Reader
Summary - It was difficult watching your best friends pin after each other yet never do anything about it, and James, exhausted of it, decided to take matters into his own hands and what weapon more powerful than Jealousy could be used.
Warnings - one mention of claustrophobia, cursing.
A/N Hello! It was really wonderful writing this and I hope this is what you expected. I am really sorry if it wasn't. Have a good read!
“Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen,” Sirius said, taking a seat next to Remus in the great hall. The buzzing of students chatting with their friends fueled his energetic mood.
“Ladies and gentlemen?” James asked, looking around him and under the table, confused and ignoring the heavy presence next to him. You glared at him and punched his arm, “Piss off!”
Sirius felt as his mood dropped along with his smile when he watched James laugh and wrap his arm around you. Your irritated expression melting into a smile. He was sick of it, he was sick of the feeling arising in the pit of his stomach whenever James and you subconsciously were close. Some would say it was something that was similar to the affection from a sibling but to Sirius’ ill eyes they always seemed bad and he hated the feeling.
Sirius would be a fool if he thought James didn’t see the glint pop out of his bright eyes. A dull grey replacing the sparkling ones. James was something much, much more than just a best friend. Spending almost every waking moment like conjoint twins had its own perks. He was able to tell just when it all started. He noticed how Sirus’ eyes would fix themselves to yours while you were speaking to Remus, a small smile forming on his face unknowingly. He, fortunately, also noticed you. The lift in your mood when Sirius was around was such a big clue, along with the silent cursing when someone flirted with Sirius.
So, now, it was time to be the one who James bragged to be. The best wingman since circa 1975.
The situation for the first trick of the mission was given to him the very evening. You, Sirius and Peter, sat together in the three-seat Gryffindor couch when James returned from his quidditch practice.
“Hola, mon amour!” James said, struggling to take a seat between Sirius and you. He knew if he had seen his best friend’s reaction, they would certainly be one of annoyance and with a triumphant grin he turned towards you.
“First of all! Move, jerk! This is a three-seater!” You pushed the boy who was pressed flush against you, away.
“Nope,” James leaned forward to look at Peter and said pointing the seat next to Remus who just looked up from the book he had been engulfed in, “Move there, mate,”
Remus raised an eyebrow but moved the blanket he had wrapped around himself to make way for the grinning boy, who understood the plan just right. James shook his and got comfortable in his place between the two of you, leaning more towards you than Sirius.
You sighed of relief, sitting straight and looked at him puzzled, “Second - where did you learn that? And why are you using it here?”
“The great Mr Sirius Orion Black taught it,” He said, pointing at the boy who sat staring off in some other direction lazily and stuck in his own guilty and horrendous thoughts. “and well, you're my love so,”
“Uh, no,” You shook your head, awkwardly and rolled your eyes, “Wait a second! You learnt from Sirius?”
“That’s what I said,” He said, casually throwing an arm around the back of the couch that looked almost like he had an arm around your shoulder.
“Did he say that to you?” You asked, your vice clearly showing that you didn’t want to think of any other person he would have tried to but knowing very well he did.
James shrugged, smirking. “Shut up,” You slapped his arm.
Sirius stood up abruptly, “I’m going to bed,” He announced, silently as you watched him, confused about his actions. You took hold of his wrist when he passed by you, “This soon?”
“Yeah,” He said, shortly, pulling his hand away and stuffing them into his pockets. Sirius left silently to his dorm, not before hearing you say, “Weird,” and continue your chat with James. He spent one last glance to see you and James sit closely although there was plently space near by. He sighed and left.
Sirius flopped onto his bed, his eyes watching the ceiling of the room. He felt stupid, angry, sad and every other emotion a broken human could feel.
It was stupid of him to be jealous of his best friend over a girl, feeling like the loyalty he was always determined to have was burnt to ashes. But he couldn’t help but be. James was everything you could possibly need and he was rather the typical guy for you.
Sirius took a deep breath and turned to a side, his eyes falling on the moon. his mind couldn’t help but think of the shine in your eyes when he saw you talking to James this morning. You looked beautiful, you always did and it broke him that it wasn’t him who brought that glint. Oh, what a fool he was.
Sirius groaned loudly into his pillow. Scared, ashamed and exhausted to be stuck in his own head.
“James,” Remus hissed at the boy sitting before him, grinning, as he watched you leave, “What are you doing?!”
“What?” James asked, smirking.
Remus rolled his eyes, “Are you out of your mind? You know, Sirius likes (Y/N)!”
James shook his head and looked at Peter, “How the hell is he the genius?”
“James, that does not answer my question!” Remus said, impatiently.
“Think, Moony, think,” Peter answered instead, smirking at him.
“I’m sorry, is something going on here that none of you told me?” Remus asked, closing his book shut and glaring at the boys before him.
“No, Moony, you are just oblivious,” James said, grinning cheekily.
Remus scoffed, “What a comment from the James Potter,”
“Oh, piss off!” James rolled his eyes, “Also, if anything, I only have my eyes on the love of my life - Evans,” He left to the dorm with a wink thrown at their side.
“What is happening here?” Remus asked, exasperated.
“He is trying to make Sirius jealous to get him to ask (Y/N) out,” Peter said, chuckling, “You are indeed oblivious,”
“I’m not oblivious, you idiots!” Remus hissed, “You two are just stupids! You know Sirius and whatever James is doing is just gonna make him coward back and never say anything! He would probably be thinking that they cute together than him,”
“That’s right,” Peter said, the realisation dawning on him but he shrugged, nevertheless, “James’ idea, he will take care. Now, good night!”
“I'm surrounded by a bunch of idiots,” Remus muttered under his breath.
The Gryffindor quidditch team had won the house cup and that desperately called for a party and James was almost certain he would have his best friends together by the end of the night.
James trudged amongst the mass of drunk students of all houses, dancing wildly, even Peter and Remus were drunk and dancing. James’ eyes fell on Sirius and he had to rethink his actions when he saw the boy’s exhausted features, watching you on the dance floor with some Hufflepuff girl. But it was for his goodness.
“Aye, (L/N),” James managed to pull you to him and slowly started to dance. He was certain you were sober but the excitement of the win was still buzzing in you. You were smiling widely, singing along with the song blasting loudly.
“Oh, that was amazing,” you said, taking a seat next to Sirius along with James at the bar-like set-up.
Sirius left the place the moment you turned to talk to him, confusing James and terrifying him if the plan backfired.
"What is wrong with him?” You had noticed Sirius’ weird behaviour for the last few days and couldn’t help but be worried about all possible reasons your mind offered without any relevance.
James looked at you. If Sirius didn’t have the guts to talk to you maybe you did, and he could clearly see in your confused eyes that all you needed was a slight push, “Go talk to him. He will tell you, your rather a special person in his life,”
You chuckled, shaking your head. Placing the cup in your hand back on the table, you took a deep breath and followed Sirius out.
Sirius stormed to the astronomy tower, the only place that gave him peace and familiarity. But this time when he leaned against one of the railings, his eyes were blindly roaming the ground several feet below, his breathing pace quickly rising. The place that he always loved, now felt foreign and claustrophobic. Tears stung his eyes when he cursed at himself for the ugly thoughts forming in his mind.
Taking a deep ragged breath, Sirius looked up at the stars, the tears sinking back in when he was reminded of your eyes. Oh, how pretty they were, shining like the very stars. Why did it have to be him? Why did he have to have a crush on you? Why couldn’t he be happy for his best friends? Why couldn’t he get the courage to ask you out? Why did he have to overthink every single thought? Why-
“Oh, Sirius,” He heard your sweet voice echoing in his ears. He would hear you panting, “I was searching for you all school!”
You walked towards Sirius, who never acknowledged your presence, his eyes still staring blankly ahead his. His face looked peaceful but only he knew all the thoughts racing in his head.
“Sirius, what’s wrong?” Those words had the absolute potential to break him to pieces. He wanted nothing but to allow the tears in his eyes to escape and he craved to do that in your arms for he was sure you would hold him till the end. That’s when it struck him - if he knew that you would hold him forever then why was he afraid you wouldn’t like it?
Sirius Black was a coward.
He whipped around and strode towards you, “I wanna ask you something,”
”First tell me what’s wrong with you?” You said, allowing him to take hold of your hand. You could see the nervousness in his shining grey eyes, it looked as though he was preparing himself for something that was vital and life-changing, “What’s wrong, idiot? You’re scaring me,”
“Do you like James?” He asked and watched as your eyes widened, a look of taken aback painting your features. Sirius being the “idiot“ he was called seconds ago, misinterpreted it to be a sign of agreement, that you indeed liked his best friend.
Sirius pried his hands away from yours, “I’m sorry, I was being an idiot. Of course you would like him,” he said and stepped aside to leave before you took hold of his wrist.
“Yes, you are being an idiot by asking me if I like James out of all people!” you yelled, exasperatedly. Your words protecting the mild flickering of hope and allowing it to start burning within Sirius. He turned around with a smile and you, although confused, continued, “I mean he is a great lad and all that but he’s just…not my type,”
“Not your type?” he asked, a smile finally forming his face. You shook your head, watching him curiously as he turned to give his full attention to you, “Well, can I tell you something then?”
You slowly nodded your head with a blush forming on your cheeks when Sirius twisted his wrist and held your hand in his, using them to pull you closer. He didn’t say or stop until you were in his arms, your heartbeat increasing as your eyes trained on his and only his.
Sirius leaned in and tilted his head to a side as his free arm found its way around your waist. You were bursting with happiness when his eyes were staring deeply into yours and never leaving them.
“I like you,” Sirius didn’t allow the gasp to escape your lips before he pressed his lips to yours and pulled you closer. Ignoring the emotions bursting chaotic within you was extremely difficult as his lips moved passionately against yours.
Your clenched hands let go of his shirt and wove themselves into his luscious hair. The hand that was holding yours now rested gently against your cheek as Sirius slowly walked backwards, aware of his surroundings and deepening the kiss. You could feel your back hit against the cold railings, his arm around you held you tightly and safely to his chest.
Sirius finally, after what felt like an eternity of bliss, pulled away, heaving deep breaths. He proudly held you in his arms as you leaned against him taking deep breaths.
“Can I take that as you like me too?” He asked, looking at you intently.
“Yes,” you giggled, “Oh, finally I am blessed to the smile again,”
“Oh, shut up,” Sirius blushed.
“Were you jealous? Was the Sirius Black jealous?” You asked, teasing him.
“Sod off!” He chuckled, leaning down to press his lips against your cheek, “Alright now will-”
“No! Can I ask that please!?” You said, excitedly.
“You wanna ask me out?” Sirius asked, staring at you proudly.
“Yep,” You nodded.
Sirius chuckled, “Go ahead, love,”
“Would you like to go on a date with me this Hogsmeade trip?” You asked, grinning widely as you watched Sirius’ eyes sparkle with love and pride.
“Yes!” Sirius pressed his lips once more against yours but pulled away rather quickly to mumble, “James is getting his arse whipped,”
You giggled against his lips and pulled him for another kiss after muttering, “Later,”

Five Stages of Starflower
Summary: James is oblivious, Lily is mostly okay with her unrequited love and Sirius has a few plans about this situation. For @keepingupwithpotters,@sunshine-marauders, @cellularphoneexplosion and @zephyrcove who all gave me the most Jily prompt of all time (“Are you flirting with me?” “You finally noticed?”) and for @magixbeans (“I refuse to stop irritating you until you give me attention.”). Thanks for helping me celebrate this day ❤
Warning only for a few f-words every now and then (Lily curses when she is upset).
Sirius knows it.
Sirius fucking Black knows it.
Lily had been careful ever since last semester when she started to realize the signs of those things. She’d tried to back away, to avoid more contact despite the fact they had exchanged letters through Summer (just normal conversation, talking about what was going on and their families and discussing their friends – it didn’t mean anything), and that they had seen each other (they just happened to be on Diagon Alley on the same day to shopping, which was smarter and safer—and also didn’t mean anything), and Lily had convinced herself that her feelings for him were entirely friendly and would remain so—if only they hadn’t become Heads together.
There was no way her feelings could remain amicable when she was required to stay together with James Potter for hours at a time, alone in the Prefects Room as they worked and planned, their hands brushing against each other sometimes; or when they would run away to share a hot chocolate at the kitchen, enjoying the fact that as Head Boy and Head Girl they could ignore a little more the curfew, and he’d make her laugh and would help her wipe off the chocolate out of the corner of her mouth.
Lily had fancied someone before, and she knew how to identify the signs, as pale as those previous signs seemed when it came to James. Still, she knew what meant the way she would shiver whenever he’d touched her, or how her heart would skip a beat when their eyes met without planning and he would grin deviously at her or how she would sit closer to him than she needed, just to catch a sniff more of that wonderful scent.
She was falling for James Potter and the worst part was that she’d totally missed the timing in which he fancied her back.
Because all those signs she saw in herself were unfortunately absent from him. James had apparently mastered the art of considering her as nothing more than his friend, because when he’d touched the corner of her mouth—and she had blinked to him, she really had, a blink that said we are alone now and you are touching my mouth can you just kiss me?—James had done nothing but smile nicely, friendly, drawing away.
And she absolutely knew he was treating her as just his friend when the very next week he’d asked her if she didn’t mind changing her Friday patrol rounds with Leanne Diggory. Fridays were the day they patrolled together until late in the night. Fridays were the days where they would go to the kitchen and share a drink and talk about life and it was their moment.
‘Sure,' she had said, acting as if she didn’t understand what his request meant for them. ‘Any particular reason?’
James had flushed then, his hand automatically flying to his hair like he did when he was nervous and after a moment he glanced at Leanne across the Prefects Room. Lily had followed the direction of his gaze; Leanne was smiling back at James and Lily understood even more.
‘Well,’ she said then, keeping her voice carefully light even as a crushing weight had taken residence in her chest. ‘It’s a pretty reason.'
She couldn’t fault James for not being interested in her anymore, but she couldn’t also just stop feeling that thing for him, not since there was no way for her to avoid him completely. So she resigned herself to having a platonic crush on James Potter, one that she administered very well until the day of the first Quidditch game of the season.
Lily had been so diligent that none of her friends had noticed her feelings for him—and she knew that because there was no way Mary or Dorcas would keep it silent if they suspected. She had been careful not to gasp when they were on the grounds and James had been dropped at the lake by Sirius, stepping out of the water and taking off his shirt to dry himself (but she had taken that memory to her heart and lost herself in dreams about him); she had not frowned when she saw James leaving his group at the last Hogsmeade trip to go talk with Leanne, flashing that dangerous grin of his to her (but she had punched her pillow in anger lately, wishing James had come to her).
And then there was the first Quidditch match and Gryffindor had won and in the post-game euphoria, Lily had made the tiny mistake of hugging James and keeping that guilty longing smile on her face when they had broken apart.
That’s when her gaze had met Sirius, and he had widened his eyes in surprise, taking in all that her smile meant—by the time Lily had rearranged her face into a normal expression, Sirius was smirking knowingly, that moron.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
He knows. Lily knows he knows. Sirius knows Lily knows he knows.
It could be worse if it were any of other James’ friends, she reasons dismayingly. Remus would have come to talk to her and urge her to share her feelings with James; Peter would spill the word to James, unable to keep a secret from him.
But it doesn’t look like any of these other scenarios is really worse as she sees Sirius’ eyes shining with a predatory look, like a wolf that knows it got his prey.
She considers running away. But Lily is no coward, there is no place for her to go permanently and she believes in keeping her enemies closer, if Sirius could be considered as one, at any chance. That’s why she keeps her ground, pretending everything is nice and not at all bothered when she sees James is near the fireplace talking with Leanne Diggory.
It won’t fool Sirius, but Lily can keep her dignity at least.
And remaining alone at the drinks table allows for him to get closer to her, which is important for her to check how much damage she did today.
‘Enjoying the party, Evans?’
Lily nearly sighs. Nearly one year of friendship with the Marauders told her they only call her by the last name when they are in full teasing mode.
James calls her a lot by Evans, though, but it sounds nice and she rather likes it.
‘Same as always. Nice party.'
‘Oh, I thought you’d be feeling… too crowded.' Sirius throws a glance towards the fireplace and Lily doesn’t need to follow the direction of his gaze to know what he is talking about. ‘Maybe you wish you were at one of those Head meetings.'
Lily pretends to be amused. ‘Heads can enjoy parties too.'
‘One of the Heads is certainly enjoying the party if the party is happening back at the throat of Leanne Diggory—’
She can control her eyes enough to not look in their direction to confirm how literal Sirius is being right now, but she cannot stop the grimace on her face fast enough; it is a spasm of hurt and anger and jealousy, and it becomes obvious that Sirius saw all these emotions when his grin just increases.
Well, too late to still save her dignity.
‘Good for him. Now, if you excuse me—’
‘Oh, I don’t,’ he replies gladly. ‘Why, you seem a little green to me, Evans.'
‘It’s my eyes, maybe you didn’t notice their colour before.'
‘Well, I never particularly cared, but I remember a young bloke reciting that your eyes were pure emerald bestowing grace upon that poor bloke’s heart.'
‘Jade,’ she corrects before she can think better of it. ‘He compared them to jades.'
Sirius’ grin is criminal now. At least, it’s making her want to murder him.
‘My, Evans, for someone that threw a hex at him you seem to have memorized his words.'
‘He kneeled to recite that poem to me in the middle of the Common Room, what else could I do?’
‘Snogged him?’ Sirius suggests, arching one eyebrow when Lily shakes her head. ‘Just imagine, if you had snogged him back then, he might not be snogging someone else right now.'
It’s a fair assumption, but this time Lily doesn’t have to disguise any particular emotion. She doesn’t regret not going out with James before; they were far too different back then. He matured a lot since those days when he would ask her out when he would be so infatuated with her that it was annoying mostly…
Unfortunately, in the list of things he changed since growing up, his feelings for her were included.
That makes her frown.
‘He is free to do whatever he wants,’ she says, a safe mid-term.
‘Or whoever he wants.’
She closes her fists, wanting to punch something; most likely Sirius’ face, though she will settle for her pillow too.
‘Are you here for any reason or you just want to piss me, Black?’
‘Mentioning that James’ hands are all over Diggory’s bum would piss you?’
‘Ah, fuck off, Sirius,’ she says, not bothering anymore to pretend anything.
He laughs—a loud carefree sound that seems like a dog’s bark to warn that something is happening; in this case, that Lily Evans is making a fool of herself.
‘I will leave you alone—if you just admit it.’
‘Admit what?’
'Are we really playing this game, Evans? Let's not go through the five stages of Lily Evans' acceptance of her undying love for James Potter, shall we?'
Lily blinks, fighting not to splurge over her drink.
'I have no idea what you are talking about, Sirius.'
'Have it your way then. I just thought you should know, I was kidding. James' tongue is carefully kept inside his mouth.'
And he indicates the fireplace. Lily looks at it now and, sure enough, though James is still talking to Leanne, he is fairly apart from her, hands untouching, in a friendly stance.
When she looks back, Sirius is not there anymore, but wherever he is she knows he is smirking, that prat. Continue reading on AO3 :)

from arwa on instagram: “remus and sirius are both drunk as hell at james’ birthday party or something and they make out drunkenly, neither of them having expressed their feeling for each other - they wake up together the next day in bed and it’s all awkward”
Remus knew he couldn’t have been the drunkest at the party when Sirius and James stood on a table, took off their shirts, and started singing Bohemian Rhapsody with their wands held to their throats so their voices were amplified.
He really did have no idea why their shirts had to be off in order to do this. Sober Remus would’ve recognised that, by every definition, James and Sirius’ rendition of the song was horrible. It was unbearably loud, their voices were slurred from alcohol, and they couldn’t hit half of the notes.
Drunk Remus found himself thinking that Sirius was rather good at singing and that he looked good with a shirt off. Of course, it was no new revelation to Remus that he was desperately in love with his best friend, but whilst sober Remus would’ve avoided looking at a shirtless Sirius under all circumstances, drunk Remus didn’t seem to be shy about rather obviously staring.
Remus also concluded that although he was definitely very drunk, Peter must be further gone than him as he had decided to take his shirt off too, maybe for solidarity, and start dancing in circles as Sirius and James approached the high note. Remus was curios as to whether they’d actually hit it.
The answer was no, obviously. Sirius went for the sensible approach of singing the correct note but an octave down. James decided to really go for it and he was absolutely nowhere close. All of Gryffindor were jumping around nonetheless and so it only seemed fair that he joined in.
Sirius leapt from the table when Remus began dancing and quickly grabbed his wrists to spin them both around. It made Remus feel a little nauseous but he laughed and went along with it anyway.
Sirius never did jump back on the table to complete the song with James. Instead he drunkenly threw an arm around Remus and started swaying with him.
“We should do this more often!” He shouted.
Remus laughed, “We can’t exactly do James’ birthday more often, Pads.”
“I meant dancing! I love dancing.”
“I hate it.”
Sirius pouted, “Not even with me?”
Because Remus was drunk, he told the truth. “When it’s with you, I may make an exception.”
This answer seemed to please Sirius and he wrapped his arm tighter around Remus before belting out the final few notes of the song. James did a bow and then promptly fell straight off of the table. Sirius and Remus just giggled and left Lily to help him.
“Are you tired?” Sirius asked. He’d leant in close to ask the question as even without James’ singing, the music was still very loud.
“Why?”
“You’re always tired and it’s almost two in the morning.”
Remus rolled his eyes, “I’m not always tired.”
“Are too.” Sirius stuck out his tongue and Remus did it straight back. “I’m tired.”
“Go to bed then.”
Sirius looked towards the stairs and groaned, “But... too many stairs. I’ll fall, Remus, the drinks make me wobbly.” He giggled at that and Remus found himself laughing as well.
“Here, I’ll help you.” He wrapped an arm around Sirius’ waist and the two of them made their way to the stairs, Sirius occasionally bursting into fits of laughter for no apparent reason.
“You’re very cute, Remus, have I ever told you that?”
Remus felt himself flush and began dragging him up the stairs. “I don’t think you have told me that, no.”
“Well, then I shall do so more often! You’re always helping us, Moony.”
“Thanks, Pads. Look, I’m almost as drunk as you, I can’t pull you up these stairs.”
Sirius gave some sort of battle cry before he started running up towards the dormitory at full speed. This was very short lived and he immediately tripped over his own foot. Fortunately, Remus caught him.
“Nice catch,” Sirius joked. “You should be keeper.”
Remus gave him a sarcastic laugh before hugging him close again and making it up the final few steps.
Sirius collapsed straight into bed, Remus’ bed, and sighed in relief.
“You can’t sleep in your clothes, Sirius.” Sirius gave him a dramatic wink before shedding his trousers, his shirt already abandoned somewhere in the common room, and taking his hair out of it’s lopsided bun. “That’s my bed, by the way.”
Sirius grinned and pulled the covers over himself. “Yours is comfier, don’t know how. You coming to sleep then?”
Remus didn’t really know why, possibly because it was his bed after all, but he agreed. He rummaged around in his trunk to find a pyjama shirt and was too tired and too drunk to find the matching trousers and so kicked off his jeans and decided it’d be fine.
“Why all the long sleeved things?” Sirius asked, tugging on the sleeves of Remus’ tshirt as he slipped into bed next to him.
“I’m always cold.”
“I’ll warm you up.”
Remus gave him a light shove. “Also, my scars.”
“You and those bloody scars.” Sirius groaned, rolling onto his back. “They’re beautiful, Remus. You’re beautiful.”
“You don’t mean that.”
Sirius rolled back over onto his side, his nose only a few inches away now. “You’re beautiful,” he repeated. Then, he kissed him.
Because Remus wasn’t sober and because he’d wanted to do it for such a long time, he kissed back. Moments passed before Remus finally shoved him away. “No, Sirius, we’re drunk.”
“You don’t want to?”
“Of course I do,” he muttered. “I’ve wanted to for ages.”
Sirius grinned and kissed his cheek, “Me too.” His neck. “Wanted to tell you for so long.”
“Tell me what?”
Sirius just kissed him again as though it were an answer. Although, Remus found himself thinking that it was enough of an answer for him.
Remus was sharply awoken by both the pounding in his head and at the door. “Let me in!” James was shouting.
Remus hadn’t actually been aware he’d locked the door. He rolled to get out of bed and then froze. There was an arm around his waist. He sat up, slowly, and turned around. It was Sirius.
Then, the same way it did after full moons, small bits of the previous night started coming back to him. He half leapt into a standing position and quickly pulled on the jeans he’d discarded the previous night, almost tripping as he did.
Sirius groaned and slowly blinked awake, just as Remus pulled on the long sleeved tshirt that, at some point during the night, had also been removed. “Moony?”
“Uh, morning.”
“Tell James to piss off.” He rolled over in order to look at him and his eyes widened slightly. “What the fuck is that on your— oh.”
Remus quickly looked in the mirror and was greeted with three purple bruises on his collar bone. “Uh. Yeah. Get out of my bed and I’ll put James out his misery.
“Wait, Remus.” Sirius sat up, the duvet exposing his chest but keeping the rest of him firmly covered. “I— fuck.”
Remus bit his lip. He couldn’t comprehend multiple things. The first being how he’d been drunk enough to sleep with Sirius Black. The second being how Sirius Black had been drunk enough to sleep with him. “Look, can we just... just forget it, alright?”
Sirius ran a hand through his hair. “Is that what you want?”
If anything, Remus wished he could remember more. “Sirius, you’re my best friend. I won’t— we were drunk and... I can’t loose you because of this. Okay? So yes, I want us to be... us. So forget it.
“What if I don’t want to?”
Remus felt his heart speed up. “I...” He was thankful for James’ incessant banging at the door cut him off because he didn’t know what to say.
“Look, you’re right. We were drunk and I’d hate myself if this ruined us. I just— I know I probably said a lot of stupid shit last night but I also remember telling you you were beautiful? And I meant that. I regret that we were drunk but that’s the only bit I do regret.”
“Sirius,” Remus breathed. James was still banging on the door but neither made a move to let him in.
“If you wish it had never happened then of course I do as well, I didn’t want to take advantage—”
“You didn’t,” Remus said quickly. “I said I wanted to. I did, want to.”
“Me too. Look, Moony, you’re just... the best person I’ve met and I, uh, I think anything I said to you last night were all probably things I was just too scared to say whilst not drunk out of my mind. There. That’s all I have to say so, yeah. Your move.”
Remus decided James and his relentless pleas to be let inside could wait. He crossed the room in three strides and knelt on his bed, taking Sirius’ face in his hands and kissing him. He may have been horribly hung over, but in that moment he still felt happier than he had been in a long time.
Anyways I hate this, because that happens sometimes, but I hope you don’t :)

The girls have a bet, the boys eavesdrop
“Merlin, Mary,” Marlene says. “You hadn’t noticed that until now? He’s been looking at Lupin like love sick puppy since third year.”
Remus eyes widen, but he doesn’t dare to turn his head to look at Sirius.
Stupid ideas and dumb bets
Boys cannot go up to the girls’ dormitory. Animals, however, have no trouble walking up those stairs, and once upstairs, his Animagii friends managed to pull Remus up as well. Which is how Remus finds himself crouched under the Invisibility Cloak with his three friends in the corner of Lily, Marlene, Mary and Emmeline’s dorm.
James had overheard Marlene tell Dorcas and Amelia that they were all to meet in their dorm that evening, to discuss dates for the upcoming Yule Ball. James had immediately decided that this was a conversation he needed to hear, as he was particularly interested in Lily’s thoughts on the matter. Remus was against the whole scheme, and had lectured his friends on breaching the girls’ privacy, but to no avail. Remus only decided to join to prevent his friends from being creepy, or at least more creepy than they’re already being. Not that Remus actually thinks his friends would do something like peek at the girls. He actually tested James. They had decided that Remus should look into the dorm first to check if all the girls were properly dressed, as Remus is as innocent and unassuming as can be, and he had said that Lily was standing in her bra. James passed his test with flying colours, as instead of immediately looking himself, he pulled Remus back and scolded him for not averting his eyes.
So now Remus is huddled under the Invisibility Cloak, where they only fit if Peter remains in his rat form, on the cold floor of Lily’s dorm besides her bed. He only refrains from complaining about his current predicament because Sirius is pressed against him so close he can feel the warmth of his body and his hair tickling his face.
In the middle of the room, Lily is sitting on her bed, knees tucked underneath her, wearing pyjamas and her hair in a messy bun on top of her head. Dorcas and Marlene are sitting on the edge of Marlene’s bed, Mary is lying upside down on a pillow on the floor, and on some other pillows scattered around, Emmeline, Hestia and Amelia are sitting.
“He’s going to ask you!” Dorcas says.
Lily brushes a hair from her face. “He wouldn’t dare.”
“Any sensible person wouldn’t, but Snivellus…”
“Don’t call him that childish nickname Potter and Black came up with.”
“He’s called you a lot worse,” Dorcas replies.
“Exactly,” Lily says. “And you don’t really think that after calling me the m-word in front of the entire school he’ll have the nerve to ask me to the Yule Ball?”
“You know what would really piss him off?” Mary says with a grin. “If you’d go to the ball with James Potter!”
Remus glances over at James, but he doesn’t look as pleased with this as Remus would expect.
Lily huffs. “I don’t care enough about Sniv- Snape to choose my date purely based on his feelings.”
“Besides,” Marlene adds. “That wouldn’t be fair to Potter. He really cares about you.”
“Potter only cares about himself,” Lily mutters.
“Lils, you know that’s not true,” Emmeline says. “He deserves more credit than that.”
Lily rolls her eyes. “You just like him because he’s the great Quidditch hero with good abs.”
Marlene leans forward with a sly smile “So you have been noticing Potter’s abs.”
Lily blushes and throws a pillow at her face. “Shut up.”
Remus sees James practically beaming. What Remus hopes he’ll learn from this is that he should show Lily his caring side more, and let her know how his feelings for her are sincere. What Remus fears he’ll learn from this is to show his abs more around Lily.
“So what’s the current status?” Dorcas asks. “We have Mary going with Peter, Emmeline going with Gideon, Marlene going with me-”
“Oh?” Marlene asks. “I don’t believe you have asked me yet?”
“Too bad, McKinnon,” Dorcas says, while pulling Marlene in and kissing her temple. “That was part of the deal when you agreed to be my girlfriend.”
Marlene chuckles. “I’m glad I don’t have to go through the trouble of getting one of those obnoxious boys as my date.”
“Who would you pick from the guys if you had to?” Hestia asks.
“Who would you pick from the girls if you had to?”
“Lily.”
“Lily.”
“Lily, for sure.”
“Yeah, Lily.”
“Aaaw, you girls!”
“Now Marlene, who would it be?”
“Sirius Black,” Marlene says. Lily rolls her eyes, but Marlene just shrugs. “If I have to, I might as well go with the fittest bloke.”
Remus can agree with her there, and is suddenly very glad for Dorcas. Next to him, Sirius has a smug smile on his face.
“You’d just do that to meddle with the bet!”
Remus frowns. The bet?
“Oh, you’d know all about meddling with the bet, won’t you, Emmeline?” Amelia says. “I heard you talk to Lupin the other day when Potter and Black entered the common room!”
Emmeline flips her hair over her shoulder. “Why, Amelia, I don’t know what you mean.”
“You kept talking about ‘how broad Black’s shoulders have become since he has started playing Quidditch’.”
“I was just making conversation.”
“You were putting ideas in his head!”
“Mia, please,” Lily says. “I hardly think Remus Lupin needs Emmeline to put the idea of Sirius Black’s broad shoulders in his head. I’m pretty sure they’re well-represented there already.”
The girls giggle, and Remus feels his cheeks burn. He feels said broad shoulders pressed against him, and the owner glance curiously at him.
“Can I still change my answer?” Mary asks. “I had no, but I was sitting across of Lupin and Black in the library, and Lupin was enthusiastic telling Black about this book he had read, and Black was looking at him so fondly!”
“Merlin, Mary,” Marlene says. “You hadn’t noticed that until now? He’s been looking at Lupin like love sick puppy since third year.”
Remus eyes widen, but he doesn’t dare to turn his head to look at Sirius.
“There’s no changing your answer based on new insights anyway.” Amelia takes a piece of parchment out of her pocket. “It stays as follows,” she says, before she starts reading out loud. “Official bets on the matter of whether Sirius Black and Remus Lupin will get their shite together in time for the Yule Ball and be each other’s date: Lily, Emmeline, Alice, Hestia: yes. Marlene, Dorcas, Mary, Amelia: no.”
Remus still can’t look at Sirius. He doesn’t know what to feel. Mortification that he’s apparently been so obvious, for sure, but also hope. Hope that maybe, just maybe, the girls are onto something and Sirius is into him as well?
“I don’t want to be pessimistic,” Marlene says. “But honestly, I think it’ll take more time for Sirius Black to get his head out of his arse. We’ll be lucky if they figure it out before next year’s ball.”
“Lupin won’t be much better,” Emmeline says. “He’s a super smart guy, but when it comes to Sirius Black, his IQ drops like twenty points. I was working on a Potions essay with him the other day, and Black was standing behind us throwing the Quaffle back and forth with Potter. I pretended like everything was fine, but he didn’t hear two-third of the questions I was asking!”
Mary chuckles. “Oh Emmeline, you can’t expect Lupin to focus on Potions when Black’s arse is in view!”
Now mortification definitely takes over.
“I can’t handle another year of this, though!” Lily groans. “Every time I’m in a room with the two of them together I wish I brought a knife to cut the sexual tension.”
“I’m surprised you’re all for it, Lily,” Dorcas says. “I know how much you like Lupin, but honestly, I thought you saw Black as an annoying, arrogant and loud prat?”
“Nah,” Lily says. “I’ve discovered there’s more to him than that long ago. And even if he acts brash half of the time, he’s so thoughtful and caring when it comes to Lupin! I’d hardly recognize him.”
“I know!” Mary gushes. “Like, normally he can’t pay attention in class for longer than five minutes, but when Remus is ill and can’t come to class, he takes notes of every word the teacher says, even during History of Magic, just in case Lupin wants to know something. And when does anyone ever wants to know anything about History of Magic?”
Remus blinks. Of course, Sirius can be very considerate, and Remus’s circumstances may make him more in need of his kindness, but it can’t have anything to do with Remus himself, right?
Suddenly, Alice bursts through the door. “Frank just asked me for the Yule Ball!” She squeals.
Immediately, the girls jump to their feet and hug her in excited exclamations of delight. In the consternation, James grabs Sirius and Remus’s arms and drags them to their feet and out of the room.
Nobody says anything until they’re back in their own dorm. Remus sits down on the edge of his bed and becomes extremely interested in the floor.
“Ehm,” James says. “I think Wormtail and I should go to… Ehm, well, not be here.”
After they’ve left, Remus hears Sirius scrape his throat. He jumps, as Sirius is standing much closer than he had expected. He looks up in Sirius’s eyes, and sees his nervousness.
“So,” Sirius says. “It seems like the girls are betting whether we’re going to the Yule Ball together?”
“So it seems indeed,” Remus replies with a nervous laugh.
Sirius runs a hand through his hair. “After McKinnon called me an arrogant twat during Quidditch practice, I’d hate to have her win the bet.”
“Do you now?” Remus asks with a smile. “You’d ask me to be your date just to spite McKinnon?”
“That,” Sirius says. “And also because I’ve allegedly been looking at you like a love sick puppy for years, and taking History of Magic notes, as it turns out, is not the best way to woo you. So what do you say?”
A happy, warm feeling spreads through Remus’s chest and he’s suddenly very glad for James and his stupid ideas and the girls and their dumb bets.
“If you don’t mind having a date whose IQ drops twenty points around you and who prioritizes ogling you over Potions essays?”

.-
Sirius silently reminds himself that he in fact likes Lily, he thinks she’s a total knock out and is happy that his brother is finally getting to date the girl of his dreams. He likes her damn it,! And one does not commit battery to folks that they like.
Assured that his pure irritation won’t bleed through his words, Sirius tries again in his most charming of inflections. “All I want is his number.”
“No,” she repeats, casually steadfast while poking at her salad— Not even bothering to flick her gaze up at an increasingly irate Sirius.
“Why are you being so fucking difficult!”
“Why are you still bitching about this,” she counters, finally giving him her undivided attention, even if it’s her glaring at him like she’d like to skewer Sirius on a stick.
“Hey guys, let’s chill.” James tries to mediate, laughing awkwardly between the pair of them, hand raised in concession and glasses going a bit skewed.
They promptly ignore him.
“I like him. What is so difficult to understand Evans? Aren’t you like supposed to be some brainiac or some shit?”
“It’s been like two months Black,” she says pointedly, grip on her fork tightening while her mouth curls unpleasantly. “That’s way past your ordinary infatuations, so why the hell do you still even care.”
Sirius bares his teeth, pinning her with a glower that once made an old school yard bully of Regulus’s actually piss his pants. So of course Lily doesn’t even flinch. “He’s cute.”
“You’re a dog.”
“You’re being a total ass.”
“And you’re a bastard.”
“But you love me though.”
“Just barely.”
“So you’ll give me Remus’s number?”
“Dream on.” she says with a lofty sniff and haughty flip of the hair, discarding her barely eaten lunch before swaggering over to where a group of her friends from the STEM club are sat, including Alice Flores and Dorcas Meadowes.
“Guess you’re back to square one Pads.” James says, unhelpful as fuck, so Sirius only flips him off before snatching back his calculus homework from a pitiful looking Peter.
“Fuck this.”
.-
Sirius thinks of himself as a reasonable sort of guy.
He isn’t one for holding grudges or obsessing over perceived slights. He’s brilliant whether he’s playing linebacker on the field or taking a exam in class.
For fuck’s sake, Sirius can be plumped down in any and all social situations without warning, and can have the room eating out the palm of his hand within the first five minutes.
In layman’s terms, he’s decent and driven and downright charismatic. Mix this all together, and well Sirius thinks he’s a pretty fantastic fucking package— if he does say so himself. He can have his pick of the lot, truly. Especially when walking down the halls flocked by his best friend turned second brother on one end and little Petey, who’s a great hype man, on the other. So its only poetic justice that the one person who’s been able to swallow up all his attention is the one person who doesn’t even give him a second glance most days.
And that’s fucking ridiculous.
This is ridiculous! He is fucking ridiculous! No, record scratch. Remus fucking Lupin is the most ridiculous part of this all!
Remus lupin with his delightfully disheveled hair the color of gold and his crooked grin that’s everything darling in the world, and his big doe eyes that sometimes flare with green specs when he’s especially passionate in class or when he’s chatting with Lily in the halls. Remus lupin who’s only just moved here to Murray Hill from a small town in southern Illinois and who toppled Sirius’s world upside-down while he was at it.
The first time they met was completely on accident.
It was the week before classes began, and Sirius had only just come back from his family trip to their villa in Rome, and he was only meant to meet James at the coffee shop that Lily was working at now. They were suppose to head to the city and go out drinking to celebrate the start of their senior year. Sirius was suppose to find a nice, college aged girl to fuck because he’s given up on the boring lot that infests Hogwarts these days. It was suppose to be easy and fun and he was suppose to stay stringless and unattached as ever.
But that didn’t happen.
Instead, Sirius walked into the Howling Moon and was met by the sight of the most lovely, most gorgeous boy he’s ever met. Hand to God, it felt like one of those slow motion moments in a Romantic Comedy when the disgruntled, wayward lead first sets their eyes on that love interest— the one to out shine all others, the one who turns everything inside out and makes it all glitter gold.
“Hey there,” Remus had grinned like the fucking sun, slipping the pen from his ear and hand poised over the cups lining the counter. “What can I get ya?”
“Oh, erm— Yeah. Just a caramel macchiato, iced.”Sirius’s ordinarily smooth baritone almost fucking cracked while ordering, and Remus’s beautiful eyes had glittered.
“Would’ve taken you for a dark roast sort of guy.” He said, and Sirius swears that it was playful and flirtatious and a little mischievous too.
Sirius was in love.
“I’ve been known to partake in sweets, you know, if they catch my eye,” he replied, eyes lingering meaningfully up and down Remus’s slighter frame.
“What a come on,” Remus had laughed, head thrown back to show off his long neck and Sirius was so fucking gobsmacked at how it quite literally sounded like all the most splendid instruments woven together.
He had ducked his head, so unordinary bashful but so beyond pleased. “What can I say beautiful, you bring it out of me.”
“”Cute.” Remus had chuckled, cheeks going a fetching red and scribbling down the order. “Definitely one of the more interesting one liners I’ve gotten today.”
Sirius ignored the flare of jealousy over that, considering that he hasn’t gotten to even kiss him yet, and he should probably take this slow if he doesn’t want to screw it up. “Has anyone of those bastards mentioned how your eyes put the brownies on sale to shame?”
“No one as hot as you if I’m being honest,” Remus retorted, ringing him up and sinking his teeth into his plump bottom lip. And fuck, Sirius knew he was in trouble from then on.
They had talked for over half an hour about nothing at all in that tiny bistro while Remus was busy exchanging the coffee pots for a fresh batch and rearranging the baked goods, and it was amazing.
Sirius has always been someone who couldn’t sit still, who had to be fluttering all over the place to feel like he was actually headed somewhere, like he was getting something finished. But for the first time in too long, just sitting there, still and silent and besotted while Remus chatted about his hometown and moving half way across the country and his eccentric mother— Well Sirius felt completely balanced, completely calm. He felt like just as long as Remus was their chatting with him and smiling in that beguiling way of his, that Sirius could actually breathe without pressure. Like he knew what it meant to have a center.
So of course, right when he decided that he was going to snatch him up— to ask him out on a date before anyone else from their shitty class filled with degenerates and dick heads could— Lily of all people had swaggered in, and gave him a caustic sort of glower that plainly said, keep the fuck away.
Ordinarily Sirius would’ve completely ignored her warning, would’ve unashamedly and excitedly chased after the cutest fucking boy he’s ever laid his eyes on with an absurd sort of zeal. But he under estimated just how much sway Lily was able to cater with Remus in the few weeks they worked with one another before he had met him. So instead of starting off the year with a brand new, insanely pretty boyfriend wrapped around one arm, Sirius has just spent the past nine weeks pining like a fucking love sick loser. Like he was starring in some cheesy John Hughes movie from the damn 80s!
And this will not do, this is not all right, not okay at all.
Sirius needs to figure out a way to get close to Remus, and outside of Lily’s overbearing claws. Something that only Remus likes, that Sirius can partake in to prove himself worthy.
As he promenades down the hall towards his free period, Sirius creates a mental check list of the things he knows Remus enjoys.
Remus enjoys poetry, and Sirius knows that he’s part of the school’s award winning Forensics team. But they meet during the football practices so Sirius couldn’t even try to impress him in that arena until the spring. He also knows that Remus likes history, that he’s going to end up majoring in classics in University, but Sirius really doubts his ability to memorize the Iliad in the matter of a few hours— He’s good, but not that good.
“Jesus fuck is this hard,” he mutters nastily to himself, tugging at the ends of his dark hair before ramming straight into a display outside the southern wing of their preparatory school’s building.
He winces, not so much for the throbbing in his toes, but because of Marlene’s snappish attitude when he makes it so that the table shakes.
“Keep your head out your ass Black,” she scolds before going back to filing her nails. And Sirius is about to snipe right back at her— That is until he catches on the bright poster adorned with small rainbows and the words, GSA FOOD DRIVE spelt out in large lettering.
And oh!
“Eureka!”
“Pardon?” Marlene asks, nose wrinkled indelicately as she eyes him like he’s about to puke on her brand new Doc Martens again like last weekend. Holy shit, she should really get over it by now.
But Sirius is smart enough and tactful enough not to mention his thoughts on the matter, only smiles down at her with pure elation. “Marls, what if I said I had a brilliant idea to help our lovely GSA.”
“I’d accuse you to only doing it to try and get in Lupin’s pants since he’s our new VP.”
Sirius grapples for his chest, feigning indignant. “You pain me my old friend.”
Marlene snorts. “Tell me I’m wrong.”
“That’s neither here nor there.”
“So are your chances with Lupin.”
“You’re a sick fuck McKinnon.”
“What do you want from me you gnat.”
“Let me help with the fundraiser.”
“What’s in it for me?”
“I’ll tell Lily to get Meadowes to notice you?”
Marlene glares at him now. “We’ve been fucking for like a month you prick.”
“Oh— Erm, then for some of that good old Bi unity?”
Marlene suddenly looks so very shrewd and Sirius hates how every fucking woman in his life could eat him whole for breakfast. “Absolutely not.”
“Fine, what the fuck do you want.”
“You cover Fabian’s costs for the goods when we go to that rave for 2KBABY in January.”
“Eh, didn’t you guys use to fuck?”
“Yes. But I don’t see the connection?”
“He won’t even give you a discount on the good shit?”
“Oh he does,” she leers, blue eyes glinting wickedly in the hallway light. “But I’d rather see you pay full price for’m.”
Sirius glares down at her, and repeats himself. “You. Are. A. Sick. Fuck.”
Marlene just lies back in her seat and returns to manicuring her nails. “Well if cheekbones isn’t worth the bother?”
“Fine,” Sirius all but growls out. “But we do this my way.”
“Scout’s honor handsome,” she absolutely beams, and Sirius reminds himself that this is all for Remus and that’s worth it at the end of the day.
.-
It’s a week later, right before Thanksgiving break hits, and Sirius is sat in front of the cafeteria, smirking at the line of mostly pink faced girls and a few others amongst their midst, who have all queued up in front of him. A dollar in each of their hands, though he does see that a few have fives and even tens or more, and he doesn’t know how to subtly tell them that all he’s promising is a quick peck of his lips, and absolutely no other groping— including of his legendary ass or admittedly perfect abs.
“You’re just really enjoying yourself, aren’t you.” James hisses besides him after the latest girl— a blonde sophomore who’s decked out in Lulu Lemon for their only non uniform day of the week— scurries off. “Just a ego trip.”
“Jealous Jamie darling?” Sirius boasts, tipping back on his chair while Marlene collects the cash from the next five in line so that they can clammer closer towards him.
“I can’t believe all of them want to kiss you,” Peter marvels, round eyes completely in aw.
“I can’t believe you think this is how to get Remus’s attention,” Lily interjects huffily, lips set in a moody pout while perched on James’s lap to Sirius’s left.
“I bet you would’ve been in line if you weren’t dating Jamie here.” Sirius counters, smug as all get out, and laughing when all Lily deigns as a adequate response is her middle finger.
Sirius is on cloud nine. He can’t believe he didn’t think of this sooner! Remus loves all this shit, from the club to the charity. This is perfect! This basically guarantees that he’ll finally get a good smooch on him. And once their lips finally touch, Remus will surely feel the swarm of butterflies in his gut just like in those Harleyquin romance novels his cousin Narcissa would always read with a dreamy look on her face during their various Family vacations.
“You’re not gonna get him this way.”
“He’s not gonna know what hit’m Evans,” Sirius retorts, completely self assured.
.-
One should never bet against Lily Marie Evans.
Sirius knows this now. But he still hates it with the passion of a thousand burning suns.
By the end of the lunch hour, Sirius’s earned over sixty bucks to the GSA’s fundraiser fund, and absolutely zero potential boyfriends who look like golden angels and make Sirius’s knees weak.
“I told you,” Lily says in that sing-song sort of voice that is so not appreciated right now. “Remus is not the type to kiss you in front of a huge crowd and after like a bunch of others. That’s not his style.”
Sirius is moody as all get out, and he’s irritated that he’s just wasted five dozen perfectly fine kisses on folks who aren’t Remus, so he doesn’t bother to hide his irritation when he gripes back at her, “Then tell me what the fuck is his style.”
Miraculously, that actually proved enough to get Lily to slow down her stroll, and cock her head curiously at him. “You actually care.”
“What the fuck have I been trying to tell you Evans!” He nearly shouts.
“I just thought— You know. That it was a game.”
Sirius’s face goes stoney, and he juts his chin away from her. “It’s not always a fucking game, all right. It’s not a game with him— I like him. I like Remus.”
“Oh,” Lily says very quietly, her face pulled in a thousand different directions before settling on something akin to solemn. “You should go to the music room for your free period today.”
Sirius quirks a brow at her, frowning while he asks, “Why?”
“Just trust me S,” she says, reaching over her hand to squeeze his forearm.
Sirius watches her walk off, hand in hand with James, and he feels a strange twisting to his heart when he imagines a very similar image— only with him and Remus and punctuated by plenty of kisses to the cheek, and jawline and lips too.
.-
The music room is towards the back of the school, in a separate building along with the theatre and main auditorium.
The early autumnal chill lashes against Sirius’s face while he makes the track to the room, continuously chanting to himself that he actually trusts Lily and this is gonna be worth it if there’s a merciful God up there.
Once Sirius clammers in doors, he rubs his cold hands together, and shakes out his hair.
The first thing he hears is the soft strumming of a guitar, and finds himself in front of the music room after following its melodic toon.
Through the window he can spot the form of Remus bent over the instrument, his thick curls getting in his eyes and his steady hands plucking a few chords as he sits cross legged atop the piano.
Sirius feels his heart lodging in his throat at the sight of him, so beautiful and perfect and warm looking in that scarlet sweater. And he knows in his bones that this is some sort of unspoken blessing that Lily’s given him, so with a deep breath, Sirius opens the door and strolls in.
Remus starts slightly, going flushed once his eyes catch on Sirius’s own.
“Oh Sirius,” he greets, the corners of his mouth tipping into a smile that doesn’t ring true. “You pulled away from the haram?”
“That’s a bit much? Calling them a haram,” Sirius says cooly, hitching up besides him and swinging his long legs. “I just did it to help you.”
“Oh— Yeah,” Remus nods. “The GSA appreciates all the help we can get.” His words are quiet, and he’s rinsing a hand through his curls, so Sirius can tell that he’s a bit nervous. And it’s impossibly cute, but also not on. He doubts that he’ll ever get his kiss if Remus won’t even look at him in the eyes.
Gingerly, Sirius sets the pad of his pointer finger beneath Remus’s chin, lifting his gaze upwards. “Not the GSA— Though I appreciate the club’s work and your part in that.”
“Oh,” Remus says again, lips pursed and his throat pulsing when he swallows down. “Then—“
“I did it for you Remus,” Sirius repeats heatedly. “I did it because I’ve been mad for you since ever meeting you in August, and I can’t get your fucking face or name or lips or ass out of my head. And I thought that if maybe I pulled a dumb stunt like that, you would actually kiss me along with the lot of those idiots who can’t even hold a candle to you.”
“M—My ass?” Remus questions, voice going pitchy and face bright with emotion.
Sirius laughs, booming and bombastic. “You have the best ass I’ve ever seen Remus Lupin and it’s really obscene.”
Remus shoulder checks him, looking down and then back up through his lashes at Sirius and it’s a sight Sirius wish he can keep with him for the rest of his days.
“So you thought I’d want our first kiss to happen after you’ve just made out with half the school?”
Sirius grimaces, bending down so that their lips are only inches apart. “Listen, I can be a complete dumb ass on occasion.”
“Don’t forget arrogant.”
“Okay, fair.”
“And brash too.”
“Right.”
“Also you tend—“
Sirius places a soft hand over Remus’s supple lips, glaring teasingly at the other boy, who’s grinning like the cat who’s caught the canary, his eyes teeming with laughter.
Remus Lupin is going to be the death of him, Sirius knows it.
“Listen Lupin, I’d like a shred of self respect here, so I can actually muster up the courage to ask you out on a proper date already.”
Remus perks at that, so Sirius moves his grasp.
“You wanna ask me out?”
“Depends…. You wanna continue that little rant until I’m blue balled and gutless.”
“Hmm,” Remus inches closer, setting his hand over Sirius’s on the piano. “Nah, I think I’d rather do this.”
He leans forwards and Sirius barely has enough time to gather his bearings when he feels Remus’s mouth over his own and it’s literally every starlit promise and sugar burnt secret and sunlit afternoon all rolled into one. And Sirius feels his heart thud an uneven staccato when he grabs for either end of Remus’s waistline and plunges his tongue into his own and he lets himself get lost in the overwhelming feeling of it all.
