Tell me a few things you love about Wessa!

Ahhh another ask from my fav Shadowhunter blogger! Wohoo! These are the first two things that comes to my head. But there are MORE ;)

Their dark academia aesthetic

The Dark academia aesthetic of their relationship. Now while this may come across as superficial, its more then just "loving books". It's the chaise and adventure they find in books that they then live by in their real lives. How they challenge each other in a conversation and insider jokes they share tethered in the novels they consume. Let the other rant about their favourite things and celebrate novels that invite the reader into more journeys beyond just their own. And the way they talk about characters, morals and plots as experiences and people they know almost intimately. How their choice of words matters, and they are economical about their feelings. Dark over light academia bc London is a dank dark city ahaha. And they feel well deep rather than feather light.

Their timeless love

Somewhat still related to novels, but I feel like what Cassandra Clare did with Wessa was the melting pot of all our favourite literary tropes/heroines in classical literature. Which gives it a sense of timelessness and makes them feel like they are 'endgame'.

I wrote previously that Tessa is the perfect blend between Jane Eyre and Elizabeth Bennet. She retains Jane Eyre’s contemplativeness, slight shyness, physical features, dry sarcasm and strong sense of self-actualisation. But also Elizabeth’s wildness, snappiness, boldness, passionate love and will for happiness, all without the arrogance that came with Austen’s heroine.

Meanwhile Will's darker side reminds me of Mr. Darcy in how he pushes those he loves away. John Thornton from North and South who is set in his ways slightly stalkerish (i'm a sucker for the stalker trope sorry not sorry) Will retains the mystery of Edward Rochester, where there is more depth to him that meets the eye and heck even Tessa says at one point that his mood swings remind him of the treacherous Heathcliff. Most of all he reminds me of Alexander from The Bronze Horseman (which only came out in the 90's but technically it came out before TID and is already considered a classic). Alexander and Will overlap in how they sacrifice their love and longing for a greater peace (War and to not upset a family) all for the love of their other one. They are deeply flawed and challenge the reader on their tolerance for forgiveness .

“I love you. I’m blind for you, wild for you. Sick with you. I told you that our first night together when I asked you to marry me, I am telling you now. Everything that’s happened to us, everything, is because I crossed the street for you. I worship you. You know that through and through…” (The Bronze Horseman)

“Alexander, you broke my heart. But for carrying me on your back, for pulling my dying sled, for giving me your last bread, for the body you destroyed for me, for the son you have given me, for the twenty-nine days we lived like Red Birds of Paradise, for all our Naples sands and Napa wines, for all the days you have been my first and last breath, for Orbeli- I will forgive you. ” (The Summer Garden).

And you find you can, because their love and longing for their partner is almost holy and like a religion to them. Those we love the most, hurt us the most, but in turn, they are also those who deserve the most grace and Mercy. If not for them, then for who?

"You are not the last dream of my soul. You are the first dream, the only dream I ever was unable to stop myself from dreaming. You are the first dream of my soul, and from that dream I hope will come all other dreams, a lifetime’s worth." (Clockwork Prince).

This, coupled with the stakes of their relationship then as a unite (and also separately) echos a timber that reminds me of the setting we find in 19th century Russian literature (but with an HEA tysm CC my heart can't take it). This tragic longing we see in Anna Karenina where any choice Tessa makes she looses something in the same breath. The high apocalyptic war torn feel of War and Peace alongside the feeling of doom you get right at Chapter 1 in Clockwork Angel like we did in Crime and Punishment, when Raskolnikov kills a man, and it's all downhill from there.

Conclusion

CC wrote these two with the aim that they remain true to the history of their time, but blended it in with fresh modern air for us to be able to relate to and TRULY succeed. Who knew a historical romance about two book lovers could escalate so highly in the ranks? Now while they are so high up in the ranks of GOAT-ed couples in literature, they aren't without their flaws. Mainly not bc of the narrative or the character's choices but more to do with CC's discontinuation of their story linearly past TID. But that's a different ask for another time and tbh, that's where I seek out lovely fanfictions like the ones you create in order to fill in the blind spots CC didn't fill.

every part of will herondale was set on fire. half of him burn, ache and long for his parabatai. and whatever was left of him was all tessa gray's. he had ripped open his chest, handed her his bloodied heart in her delicate porcelain hands. maybe he had given too much, but he knew no way to give less than all he had. will would burn for love, he'd ache and bruise. he would starve for five minutes alone with her. for a second where their eyes would meet or their fingers would touch as they pass each other. there is nothing he wouldn't do for more of those moments.

❝ tess, you must believe me. i mean no ill intent, but i am only but half a man without you. half a soul, the rest is so deeply intwined with you - everything you are. i understand your love may lie elsewhere. somewhere more deserving - but that does not make my mourning of you any less. ❞ tessa was not dead. jem was very much there, and they both loved him. their james. he was no longer will's only. just as tessa would never be will's. in any way it seemed now. a cruel joke. he had been so close to her love - had pushed her away for a curse that did not exist.

will herondale loves love, but he also knows he will never love again. not like he loves jem, never like he loves tessa. she was the sun to his planet, jem his moon. without them both, how was he supposed to be sustained ? how could he not waste away ? would it not be fair to spend the rest of a human life in mourning and grief over such thing ? ❝ i only wish the best for you, tess. even if that is not me. i only wish to see you smile. ❞ even if it would kill him if she never smiled for him again.

okay let’s get to this *cracks knuckles*

i think clary and simon being parabatai kinda ruined for me. one thing i appreciated is that their friendship hadn’t need a magical rune binding them forever to be the kind of codependent best friends they are. their friendship was the core of tmi and it was so beautiful the sacrifices and how far they would go for each other that for me it was like a proof that you do not need to be parabatai to reach that level of love and connection with each other. them not needing a parabatai bond was the point, so when they became parabatais i was like meh. and their friendship lost their uniqueness.

thule. i hate everything related to it! it’s one of the reasons i still hate qoaad so much. it feels so unnecessary and forced. i know other dimensions concept has been introduced since tmi and it fits the whole fantasy stuff so i never minded that but parallel world? now you’re just pushing it. and the whole dystopian world we are shown in thule is so unserious to me. janus plot feels stupid as fuck and also this is one of the reasons i can’t care for ash like seriously the whole thing is just so dumb.

i never liked wessa individually sorry. only scenarios i can like wessa is in herongraystairs. which is not the case with jessa and heronstairs because i love both relationships individually and together as poly. but yeah wessa has never been my cup of tea

but this is not new actually. i’m not a fan of cc’s main couples ever. i have always preferred the side couples (but not always) or queer fanon ones, they always feel more natural whereas with the main couples i can’t help but feel like cc is trying too hard to tell the audience how perfect for each other they are instead of letting us see it for ourselves. i think kitty is the only main couple i’m actually seriously invested and i think it’s because they started as a side couple first.

i know everyone loves novellas about their favorite characters but i wish we had novellas from characters that aren’t already main/secondary characters in the sagas. like i wish we could get a novella about jonathan shadowhunter or just characters that are mentioned but not already shown.

people will call me bias but grace is truly by far one of the best characters in tsc (i would even dare to say her best female character at all) and i think a big part is because she wasn’t tied to a romance

which leads me to this point. i don’t think romance necessarily strips characters of their own individuals arcs (because there’s big exceptions: magnus. jem. jessamine. simon. to name a few) but a lot of the time, especially with main couples, the characters do end up feeling very reduced to romance only and it’s quite annoying.

i really wish julian had became a villain sorry that was such a wasted opportunity.

tessa and her powers feel so underutilized when she’s canonically one of the most powerful characters in the verse.

the parabatai to lovers trope should’ve been given to a mlm or wlw ship. listen the implications it would’ve had!! the metaphors and allegories for homophobia through the whole forbidden love punished by law. how you’re allowed to be the closest and have the deepest bond but also aren’t allowed to be romantic because it would be viewed gross (that talk between emma and sarah) and a perversion of the parabatai bond. THE POTENTIAL WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF CC!!!! i hope one day she tries or makes a novella about queer parabatais because it’s such an opportunity icb she fumbled it. idm if they die either because it would make it more tragic and i love that

i don’t want magnus or tessa to lose their immortality. personally i love the tragedy immortal x mortal romance brings and i think immortality in general is such a sad but at the same time beautiful concept, it brings the questions “is it worthy to love if it brings you pain later?” and for me the answer will always be yes. so i ate it up.

for the sake of my sanity i need that theory of dead shadowhunters coming back to life in twp to be FALSE. i’m sorry i can’t do it it sounds too much like a wattpad fix it fic. i don’t want it!

Please tell me your favourite thing(s) about Clace! I'm rereading TMI and I just am falling in love with them all over again. I'm at CoFA, they're FINALLY officially together, and their banter is ON POINT (they come by it honestly. Wessa, yk yk.) But YEAH . And also ramble about Sizzy too if you're into it, they're hitting SO hard this time and I'm in love in love in love with them.

Bestie, I don’t even know where to start 😂

The fact that during TMI most of the people saw Clary as this tiny little girl and they underestimated her but Jace realized very quickly how STRONG she really was! Like, he kicks her ass for real during training! He knows she can take it! And she’s the bravest person he knows!

And how everyone sees Jace as this strong warrior but Clary knows the fragility that lays underneath his tough exterior. Most of the people describes Jace as "hot/sexy" but Clary almost always thinks about him as ✨beautiful✨

Don’t even get me started on how Jace lacked love for so long in his life, even thinking that his heart was broken and he was incapable of falling in love… and then he met Clary, someone with such a big heart and with SO MUCH LOVE to give, and then they fell in love! ♥️

It makes me so sad that during TMI Jace had such a low faith in himself because of the way Valentine raised him. That he thought he had to be perfect or the Lightwoods would kick him out. Can you imagine that? Living with such fear of losing the love of the only family you ever know? 🥺🥺 That's why I love the fact that Clary's faith in Jace is so big and it NEVER lacks! And she makes sure he KNOWS it. That he can always count on her and her love for him.

And the fact that even when Jace was taught that love destroys you, he was never afraid of loving Clary! He said that loving her was the best feeling he ever felt. In many other books you see the male protagonist keep the girl away because they are afraid to fall in love but Jace never did that, quite the contrary actually.

I love how they complete each other, and how they helped each other to be better! Jace learned so much from Clary, and became a better version of himself, but Clary also growth so much after meeting him!

I also love how they pick on each other so much! They know how to have fun!

Listen, I know it's SUCH a big cliche and judge me all you want but I LOOOVE how Jace was mean to everyone but Clary lol In my defense I was a teenager when Wattpad was a hit and the bad boy trope was on every story 😂 So yeah, I like that he’s such a sweetheart with her and ONLY her 🫶🏻

How Jace looks at Clary as if she's his personal miracle 🥹♥️

I love that she NEVER slut shamed Jace! I have seen that some part of the fandom judge Jace for sleeping with other girls BEFORE HE MET CLARY. Like bro? It's his body and he was single, I don't see the problem and I love that Clary never judged him for that. She always knew that what they have is different from anything Jace could have had with other girls. I love a secure female character 🫶🏻

Also girl the way he's SO OBSESSED with her! He worships her so hard! I love those kind of male protagonist!!!

There's LOTS of things I love about Clace but I might never finish listing them so let's just cut it here lol

Now about Sizzy... I love that couple because they always seem like such a REAL LIFE couple to me.

Look I'm such a sucker for love at first sight couples like Clace BUT the reason why I love Simon and Izzy is because they are so real about the way their relationship developed.

In real life most people falls in love more than once in life and that's normal and it's okay. You can go through heart break and be hurt but that doesn't mean that you can't fall in love again and it be even MORE stronger than before! Simon represents that so well. He loved Clary so much for many years but then he realized they didn't work like that, and his love transformed into friendship love.

And then he fell in love with Izzy and it was a stronger feeling! This time he knew he belonged with her. That's just like real life is, you can fall in love more than once but it doesn’t mean that your previous love was less valid.

And Izzy is such an amazing character, she was the one that taught teenage me that you can wear makeup, dresses and high hills AND STILL KICK ASSES while doing so!

I think she's such a brave character because she carried the pain of her father's betrayal on her mom for so long... But she overcame it and she was brave enough to open up her heart to Simon. This comes from someone who went through something similar at a similar age and believe me, I KNOW by first hand how brave and strong Izzy had to be to let herself trust someone else with her heart. She’s so special to me.

And she opened her heart to Simon TWICE! They are a couple that went through a LOT and it makes me so happy to know that they are engaged now ♥️

The Elephant in the Room: Matthew is the only one who knows about Jessa (Theory)

I believe that Matthew is the only one of that generation who knows that Herongraystairs is a, uh, arrangement between three people, and that Jem and Tessa remained having feelings for each other even while Will and Tessa were married. I do not think James and Lucie and Cordelia and the rest of the gang know.

After finishing Chain of Thorns and personally being of the opinion we needed more love triangle content instead of less, this scene at the end of Chain of Gold has gobsmacked me in retrospect. This is during James and Cordelia’s engagement party and it’s in Magnus’ POV. Magnus has caught on to the fact that Matthew secretly loves Cordelia.

Magnus cleared his throat. "I see why my waistcoats cannot hold your attention, Fairchild. I've been where you are. Wanting what you can't have will only rip your heart apart." Matthew spoke in a low voice. "It would be one thing if James loved her. I would go into the quiet dark like Jem did and never speak of her again. But he doesn’t love her.” “What?" Magnus was unpleasantly startled.

This is the first and only instance of a mention in The Last Hours of the fact that Jem and Tessa ever had or still do have romantic feelings for each other, and that Will was the one of the two of them who "got the girl". I do not believe Lucie, Cordelia, or James know of the true events of Clockwork Princess or the reality of Herongraystairs. Let me enumerate some reasons why:

This is the first and only instance in TLH of Jem and Tessa’s feelings for each other being acknowledged by any character, despite Wessa being happily married. This is only one of the only instances of us being reminded of Jem’s past as a Shadowhunter in the series. Note the lack of “Uncle Jem”. He’s just talking about our Jem. Magnus gets startled by everything Matthew has just said. It's clear they're also speaking strictly in confidence.

In ChoT, we have two parabatai who are in love with the same woman, and said woman has feelings for both of them. Yet not once in ChoT throughout that whole love triangle drama do Lucie, James or Cordelia or anyone even liken their own situation to the near-identical version of it that happened between Herongraystairs. They treat the idea of two best friends loving the same woman and said woman having feelings for both of them in return as something alien. Because they don’t know it even happened before.

And what's also weird in ChoT is that Tessa had pulled Cordelia aside in the carriage to ask her if everything was "okay" with her and James, but also if everything was “okay” with her and Matthew. Yet Tessa doesn't even ever allude to having been in a similar situation to the one Cordelia was in. It's obvious that Will and Tessa know that Cordelia had feelings for Matthew and that something went down in Paris between them, and yet Will said nothing to James about being in that very specific situation. Because James doesn’t know.

We get so many instances of James and Lucie talking about Will and Jem being the best of parabatai, and also many instances of them musing about Will and Tessa and their parents’ love. Yet not once did James ever even think to ask his favorite Uncle Jem for any advice about "hey, what do you do when you and your parabatai love the same woman?”, the same Uncle Jem that he goes to when he needs advice about any and every thing. It’s not knowledge to them that Jessa was ever a thing, or a serious thing.

Blackfriars Bridge was absolutely happening throughout TLH, yet not once do James or Lucie even think of or acknowledge that their mother and Uncle Jem were meeting once a year for their whole lifetimes at the same spot in London, and without Will. Seems like the kind of thing you’d at least passively think about if you'd had the knowledge. They don’t know.

In ChoT, Will tells the story of how he rescued Tessa from Mortmain in Wales and he alludes to the events of Clockwork Princess a lot in TLH. He absolutely never mentions that it was at that point in the story that he had "broken up" Jessa and that it rested on the fact that Jem also was very, very close to death. He never tells the story factoring in Jem as “the other man” at all. Likewise, in ChoG, both Lucie and James laugh at the Lightworm story a couple times, yet neither of them mention they know that it happened when Tessa was about to marry… Jem, and not their own father.

What sealed the deal in ChoT for me: "It was something James loved about his father, but it also meant he could not approach him to talk about Matthew and Cordolia. James was sure Will had never been angry with Jem in his life". James doesn’t know that there were, uh, conflicts between Will and Jem, because he doesn’t even know the context behind those, uh, conflicts that he doesn’t know about. He is clueless.

Here’s why I think it’s a secret, why only Matthew knows, and what the implications are:

Tessa would be ruined as a woman, as @amchara pointed out, if the information was known. Eugenia had an understanding with that one irrelevant douchebag, and her reputation has suffered for it incessantly since the understanding was broken off. Tessa had, uh, more than just an understanding with Jem. Lol. She already has a demonic heritage. I’m certain if the Clave knew she’d once had a thing with her husband’s parabatai-turned-Brother Zachariah in addition to being the daughter of a Prince of Hell, she’d be presque-crucified for it.

We simply don’t get Matthew POVs. That’s probably intentional as it relates to issues like this. He clearly knows about Jessa and the Jessa business. He was the first person that knew that Cordelia was in love with James all along. According to Cordelia in ChoT Ch24, she was sure Matthew knew something had “changed” between her and James. Matthew was also like, the first of the gang to hate Grace and hate her being with James without even knowing about the gracelet. Matthew had also picked up that James' feelings for Cordelia had “returned” or manifested themselves when they broke the gracelet at the end of ChoI. Matthew knows everything, which is impressive, as he’s only spent a mere fraction of the series not inebriated.

Matthew sees himself as a Jem figure, which he is in my humble opinion. Matthew told Cordelia in the games room scene (Christmas Party) that he would “wait for her” to change her mind about him. But moreover, he’s the one who coined the infamous “love is a creeping vine” phrase. That type of slower, more gradual love is very reminiscent of Jem and Tessa (Will and Tessa are more like burning twin flames in love, more like James and Cordelia). It’s also rather interesting that at the end of ChoT, Matthew is leaving London to take himself out of the equation completely, kind of like how Jem simply had to be out of the equation so that Tessa could have both him and Will, just at different times. Matthew thought he could play the long game with Cordelia, in the way Jem was always playing the long game with Tessa.

On the assumption that Matthew knows as much about Herongraystairs as us, Cordelia ending things with him in that “I will never love you the way you deserve to be loved, Matthew” way would have hurt him a lot. Cordelia will never live a lifetime where James will not be in the equation (very different to how Jem and Tessa are), and Matthew knows that.

I don’t know exactly how Matthew knows. I’m absolutely certain he didn’t learn the information he does have from Charlotte or Henry, because that means Charles would have known, and Charles would have absolutely weaponized any sketchy information about Tessa that he could have during the Wessa Witch Hunt episode in ChoT. I don’t believe Magnus said anything to Matthew either. I think Matthew’s just sneaky and observant, because he was the first person to notice many, many important things in TLH.

Anyways, the TLH gang don’t actually know everything that happened in TID. Not saying anything is wrong with that. Just saying that I think they have a certain, slightly whitewashed version of events. That’s fine. We’ll never really know our own parents. But I do think that what the gang knows (or does not know) has shaped the way they see love, trust, and friendship, for better or for worse.

2. Herongraystairs - YES, I AM NOT DIVIDING IT AS WESSA AND JESSA BECAUSE THEY BELONG TOGETHER, change my mind (YOU CAN'T) This was the first time in my entire life when I read a book and couldn't decide which love interest I prefer, so I just didn't 😍 I can't believe how cc wrote them so perfectly, truly peak

3. Thomastair - I had a hard time deciding if they are nr 3 or 4 but I feel like I prefer them slightly more than nr 4 BECAUSE Alastair is so incredibly brave. After all that happened with his father, he still did everything to protect Cordelia and Sona. His character development is one of the best in the whole tsc. And Thomas my sweet summer child 😭 his kindness is out of this world. TO THIS DAY I remember those fucking Paris dates 😭😭😭😭

4. Malec - Cc can really write her mlm couples. Their devotion to each other 🥺 I will forever remember that Alec was the first shadowhunter Magnus ever dated because well he was a Downworlder but Alec saw so much more in him 😭 ok I'm gonna keep this short cause it will take me forever to answer 🤣

5. Gracetopher - YES I KNOW IT DIDN'T HAPPEN BUT IT HAPPENED IN MY HEART. In my mind my little asexual genius couple live happily ok? Grace is such a misunderstood character, she's a child of abuse, she was made to do so many bad things, manipulated as hell but she still wanted to change and be good. And Christopher 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 MY POOKIE I CAN'T SPEAK ABOUT HIM CAUSE I'M GONNA CRY

6. Jordelia - Cordelia was, is and always will be THE bad bitch. The ending of chain of gold when she told EVERYONE that she and James were fucking? ICOOONIC. But she's the bravest baby ever. James is this cute and gentle young man but in reality he will kill you 😍 they complete each other PERFECTLY, the tension between them in chain of iron changed me as a person, I will never be the same. ALTHOUGH they would be so much higher if not for chain of thorns... Like... This book just destroyed so many things I can't ☠️

7. Blackstairs - The tension between them when Emma was "dating" Mark, oh good god glorious. You know, Julian actually reminds me so much of James but he's SO MUCH MORE DISASTROUS, he's a fucking menace and I love that. His sexy brain did things to me 😎 Emma, my second bad bitch (I guess Cortana wielders are all that way) killing a Rider of Mannan??? I'm a goner for girl fighters. MY NEXT JACE HERONDALE. Julian will forever need Emma and Emma will forever need Julian 💕

8. Markkierantina - My poly cuties 🥺 it was the same as with herongraystairs, I couldn't decide if I want Mark with Cristina, Mark with Kieran or Kieran with Cristina, but cc corrected her mistake with herongraystairs and made them all smash. Amazing. Cristina was a key to make Mark and Kieran's relationship work, that's all I'm gonna say

9. Clace - That will probably surprise some of you but I kinda lost this clace magic along the way of reading tsc. I absolutely love them as characters and Jace is one of the funniest bitches. Idk, I don't feel it as much as I used to. But well I was 13 when I read tmi and now I'm 23 so 🤣 I still remember that 4-6 tmi books broke me emotionally so I have this great sentiment for Clace but we have many more couples that I love more 🥺

10. AriAnna - I fell in love with them when I read gotsm and I rooted for them SO HARD in cog and coi, I couldn't get enough of that tension. And then cot happened.... It felt like cc just decided to drop them, gave them an easy ending just to get rid of them... So I was greatly disappointed. And I know that if not for cot they would be higher

11. LucieJessie - Honesty (and I say this with great sadness) I was bored reading their story in cog and coi, they were just so bland to me, I don't know 😭 BUT cot made everything change. When Jessie came back to life he was SO FUN TO READ I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!! I loved them and I'm sad that it wasn't like that from the beginning

12. Sizzy - I know, I know. But I never felt them 💀 I mean, yes I love them together and I love their characters but I don't see the magic 😭😭😭 I WANT TO

13. GwynDiana - Oh they were SO IMPORTANT TO ME 😭 I adored every minute but they didn't have much chapters so 😫

Chot spoilers we all knew were coming

Yes, I haven't read chot yet and yes, I hoped this wouldn't happen, but yes, spoilers confirmed that this happened...

So, I'm already disappointed...

Let's start from the beginning.

I'm gonna be honest, I never liked Matthew from his very first appearance in Tales of the shadow market. Yes, his story is tragic and pity, but the way he choose to deal with it made him absolutely unlikable for me. Love and loyalty for James was his only redeemable quality (for me).

And I could totally deal with the fact that he fell in love with Cordelia (after years of unrequited love for Lucie), but I was hoping we won't go that road...of full on love triangle (especially, when it's obvious for everybody that Jordelia is the Endgame, so you don't split between two guys like in Wessa/Jessa case, instead Matt just becomes annoying obstacle), I hoped he will keep himself in hand, that he won't take the moves... That would make him noble and the relationship of him and Jamie, James and Daisy, Matt and Cordelia would stay pure...

But looks like only HeronGrayStairs can be such high standard of self-sacrifice, purity of feelings and undivided understanding...

looks like Cassie choose to make Matt blind to James' feelings for Daisy, I mean, yeah, he thinks Jamie obsessed with Grace, but if he himself wasn't obsessed with his own tragedy (swimming in it, drowning in it, made everything in his life spinning around it) and looked closely around he could see his (Jamie's) true feelings (Magnus saw it), and thought a little and didn't forget how Grace manipulated him (Matt) to kiss her against his will and realised she does it somehow with James too... but he ignored it

And, also the whole situation : in 1903 you took married woman to Paris, your best friend's wife... This already looks bad. And you know she loves him, her husband, your best friend... wtf? This could be handled more original, I thought.

But, according to spoilers, No...

So, it makes me not liking Matthew even more... Thank you very much, Cassie

Maybe Cass decided that it's James' turn to fight for Daisy's love... Only, she actually didn't do anything to fight for his love with Grace, she just was herself (and poor James couldn't afford to himself even that) and she's lucky that he for all those years kept his feelings for her underneath that ₽hu¢k¡n' bracelet's spell, and accidentally, due to circumstances, married him. And, after everything he went through by his willpower and love for her, HE got to proof himself? I know it's romanticized that a man should chase and conquer, to provide and proof himself... But that's double standards bullshit against the backdrop of author tries to adhere in her works to the modern canons of equality and other trendy agendas, in opposition to "the moral and ethical prejudices of those times" and all that jazz... But maybe I'm digging too deep... sorry not sorry... I'm just pissed off... beforehand...

And knowing about certain death, which I'm trying to deny for now... I remember Cassie said that on early stages she wanted to end this trilogy even more dark and tragic... Seriously? How dare you, ma'am!!!

Actually it's never said she is surprised to get pregnant, she knows she can as she is aware of Charlotte and Henry actively trying for it more less the same time she had Alexander, as you say is hard to know what is going on, but them nevertalking with each other meanwhile all the other couples do, and the situation of her not living the life she wanted is what makes me think they had strains and was meant to parallel Robert and Maryse, but probably Cassandra didn't find them interesting enought to write so she centered her attention on Will and Tessa

I was wrong, then; I seemed to recall pretty vividly that Alex came as a surprise. Whichever way, I stand my point: thanks to Clare's focus on Wessa, we know next to nothing about any other TID couple, and I wouldn't go as far as to say that Gabrily wouldn't have survived the death of one of their children.

What's certain is that Cecily should have never ended up being a housewife to such a degree, that's for sure.

And, being a writer, I can relate to Clare about not considering all of your characters interesting in an equal way, but interesting or not, if my characters lost a son, I would write about them grieving his death, for Heaven's sake.

tid: idk i feel like this could be a rogue Sophie/gideon or cecily/Gabriel moment. or wessa with jem existing too. who really knows but all of the above i would enjoy <3

tlh: um maybe hopefully plz thomas and Alastair we barely got to see them actually be a couple I feel like so that would be fun. I would also love a luciejesse or herondaisy moment <3

tmi: um well OBVIOUSLY this is what I’m most excited for because i have a normal attatchment to the characters of the mortal instruments. ANYWAY i want sizzys proposal in full detail. we got the clace and the malec ones give them the lovely proposal that i deserve to read. pay them RESPECT. i would also looooove a clace story like any at all. i love and miss them dearly. I would also love a malec story with the kids bc we have literally hardly seen into their family life after they got Rafael but maybe that’s what tec3 is for idk cassandra doesn’t acknowledge its existence. but also if they’ve had two books I’m not exactly sure if she’s writing more about them. DO NOT GET ME WRONG!!! I would loooooove more malec content im not an IDIOT but like idk. but also they’re fan favorites so i just don’t know. im trying to see into cassandra’s mind and it’s not working. i would also actually drop dead to the floor and cease to exist if it was centered around the tmi gang as a whole going on a date night all together triple date moment!!! THATS what i want but i think that’s a bit idk it’s j not gonna happen. unfortunately for me. whatever ill take what i can get and reread the brunch story. I love the brunch story.

tda: well Cassandra’s use of the word throuple makes me assume it’s a safe bet to think one of them will be kierarktina but there’s also the delusional thought that she’s talking about herongraystairs. so idk abt that but yeah kierartina. a Diana and Gwyn moment would also be like somewhat shocking but fun and fresh. idk there’s not that many tda couples tbh. emma and Julian already got their moment in sobh and i don’t wanna read about them so I’m hoping it’s not them. idk

misc: the thing is i feel like this project is very ambiguous bc the theme is just live and romance so it could be anything like people who were never officially couples. unrequited love is fun. kit and ty moment. but also they’re the focus of twp so im just not gonna go there and Cassie may not either. i was also thinking abt this and a malcolm and annabelle story would be reallyyy interesting. also they don’t really fit into one specific series but they’re around in tec,tmi and tda bc they’re awesome i would LOVE a Helen and aline centered story like tell me about their time on wrangel island because we know next to nothing about that seemingly important place and what the hell goes on there. and helen and aline get fuck all in these books. anyway. that’d be a good time. also like. she said there may be some spice . but like i want love confessions and silly goofy character moments and actual stories not just characters going at it yk. so liek what are the vibes here cassandra…
