How to write prompts on VED to get the best results Mugafi
Introduction
In the realm of scriptwriting and story development, AI writing tools have become indispensable for writers seeking to refine their narratives and streamline their creative processes. One such tool is VED, a writing tool with advanced assistance especially built for screenwriters and Authors. It’s not just your normal tool which helps you in formatting your scripts and screenplays, it’s much more than that. VED comes with an AI copilot which can help you research, enhance and take your story and scripts to the next level and to make it pitch perfect.
To harness the full potential of VED, understanding how to craft effective prompts is crucial. This guide will walk you through the strategies for writing prompts that yield the best results, ensuring that your screenplay or story develops into a compelling narrative.
What is a prompt?
In today’s world of AI tools such as ChatGPT and Bard, there is a very common term that you must have come across, that is a ‘prompt’. For people who are not sure what prompts actually are, let me give you a quick overview.
In simple words, a prompt is a question or instruction given to an AI to get a specific answer or result. It tells the AI what to do or what information to provide, helping users get exactly what they need from the technology.
To understand how to use prompts in VED to make your story better, keep reading.
Crafting Effective Prompts for VED
Specificity in Prompts
When interacting with VED, the specificity of your prompts directly influences the quality of the output. A well-defined prompt should clearly state what needs improvement and how. For instance:
Prompt 1 Example: “Improve the emotional impact of the dialogue in this scene.” Here, you specify the element to improve (emotional impact) and on which part of the screenplay (dialogue).
Prompt 2 Example: “Enhance the synopsis by introducing a tragic backstory for the protagonist that influences their quest.” This prompt is more detailed, addressing multiple elements (character background, influence on plot) and directing VED on how to enhance the synopsis.
Using VED to Craft Loglines and Synopses
Elements of a Logline:
Main Characters
Conflict
Theme
Setting
When crafting a logline using VED, ensure your prompt includes these elements to create a concise and informative summary of your script.
Logline Prompt Example: “Create a logline for a story about a retired detective drawn back to solve a mystery involving his old nemesis, set in 1970s Los Angeles, highlighting themes of redemption and justice.”
Elements of a Synopsis (3 Act Structure):
Start
Conflict
End
For synopses, your prompt should outline the basic structure of the narrative to guide VED effectively.
Synopsis Prompt Example: “Write a synopsis for a screenplay where a young lawyer faces a moral dilemma when asked to defend a guilty client, leading to a climactic resolution where she must choose between her career and her values.”
Overcoming Common Writing Challenges with VED
Writer’s Block and Research
VED can be a powerful ally against writer’s block and the daunting task of research.
For Writer’s Block:
Prompt Example: “Suggest three plot twists for my current storyline where the main character discovers his ally is a traitor.

NEVER STOP!!! everytime I get mad over DOTC I just come onto your page and read your Gray Wing slander and immediately feel better, thanks muchly! 😌✨️
I am but a humble DOTC Slander ranger, riding across the sunlit horizon with a big iron on my hip, putting every hater's formless frustration into the words you felt but did not realize how to say ✨️
#If there's anything positive to say about it#it's that it's at least a SPECTACULAR kind of bad#It's bad in the kind of way that makes you realize what is so bad about other entries in WC#Like the rosetta stone of things wrong with WC#In no other arc is the ableism misogyny and abuse apologia SO apparent. SO plain to see#And of course your mind's immediately drawn to Clear or Tom because they're so obviously awful as characters.#But even the characters they think are GOOD and frame as RIGHTEOUS are revealing!!#Sometimes even moreso!!#though to be clear I end up biting at Gray a lot more often than Clear because he's awful in a less immediately obvious way#but I think clear is literally THE worst character they have ever put in WC. It's not a contest. It's not even a consideration in my mind.#because at the end of the day. Clear is WHY the arc is so bad.#Gray is defending him and doing a shit ton of abuse apologia and generally being insufferable#but as a tool he is being used in the exact way they mean to use him.#And his USE is to SUPPORT CLEAR.#He may not be the main POV but the arc is ABOUT Clear. It's HIS story. EVERYTHING that happens is supposed to be for HIM.#I haven't gotten to Gray's death scene in my reread yet but I should actually reblog it over here on the main when I do#Because it says it. It says it explicitly. That Gray only ever did anything because Clear pushed or bullied him to action.#And the narrative tries to frame that like a sweet and sentimental thing#But it's actually fucking horrifying. That WAS the entire series.#Clear pushing and bullying others until life was worse for everyone. And then they thank him for it.#bone babble#dotc hate

As cute as satosugu is, it's SO important to me that no matter how much they loved each other (romantically or platonically idrc to argue w/ ppl) they did NOT tell each other. That they lost their chance bc they were young and strong and full of hope and they thought they had all the time in the world to tell the other how they felt, y'know, like how teenagers are supposed to feel about life. But they couldn't be together, they couldn't have each other's company the way they really wanted. Their youths were forcefully taken away from them their emotions that they were still not fully settled on forced out of their hands because they had bigger more grave things to worry about now. It's so important to me that they were always doomed no matter what.

there are literal writing assistant apps and websites that i have been using for years to proof read/check grammar (after i proof read myself) that use ai technology (and some dont) in the sense that it is an artifical intelligence program designed specifically for that and not a random generative ai program. and sometimes, theyre not 100% accurate either. nano and pro ai people constantly conflate specifically programmed ai applications with generative ai and think they have the same ethical use??? me using a word count website to check my grammar and readability is an assistive tool i used throughout my entire school career. i never fucking used it to write my work. Ai as a tool (not generative ai) should not add onto your work outside of missing words and grammar. but those programs have existed for yearssss and thats so clearly not what nanowrimo is referring to. (also you wouldnt need to defend the use because like i said, it's not writing for you) people trying to defend their stance are being obtuse on purpose, i swear.

Why couldn’t I get into something normal, or at least something with consistent canon? Now I am digging into depths of Whoniverse (and we all know the canon doesn’t exist (it is what you want it to be (a bit like Schrödinger’s canon: it both exists and does not, and a bit like a Young Experiment, different when observed, and in 3 places at the same time))); and I am studying Arthurian legends – where every source gives you different facts. And I’m trying to make sense out of it. And create for those universes. It’s fun. And the greatest torture.
#how come two british stories with no consistency can be oh so beloved after so many years?#yes i know fans live in the plot holes#and we use them as our playground#to create something new. something fascinating#to look at it from a new perspective#it’s as if you gave us toys; or rather tools; and we’ve made creation of our lives out of it#how we can create something from nothing to fill those gaps (maybe even if less of an actual story the greatest creation there can appear?)#oh how i love humanity#one canon does not matter it’s the story that is important#that it is amusing and engaging#how it makes you feel#that it entertains you#that it talks about something important to you. close to your heart#friendship. love. adventure. values. pain#we are the same#and for other things i’m into that fascinate me and give me terrible headache#(30 tags is not nearly enough (i should’ve put more into a body of the post but alas)):#religions of the world – their similarities and differences. their rules. subtlety of the same in various shades of christianity#apocrypha. damn me. it’s fantastic. (here goes angelology and demonology too)#folklore. as in tradition of our ancestors and their myths and believes.#dragon-lore. symbolism. types of dragons. their lives habitats and habits.#vampires. no one can agree upon them. and they are so cool.#you don’t expect it but omegaverse. are there commonly agreed upon rules? no.#so. if anyone wanted to talk. i’m open (can you say that in english?) oh.#and languages (does anyone want to talk about etymology?)(they are constantly changing and are different in diff parts of world and even th#dw#doctor who#arthuriana#merlin bbc#one thing I should not get myself into: marvel’s multiverse. Or mcu in general. Or just marvel. And I’m trying. But spiderman. And loki.

i LOVE first contact with aliens stories, seriously it’s one of my favorite tropes, but authors writing it really need to understand that there’s no writing it without engaging with the colonial history behind it whether you intend to or not, and if your story is about humans settling on another planet you’re gonna look stupid if you don’t
#also like. idk how to put it into words but.#if your excuse for why humans are leaving earth is because it’s become uninhabitable. it will always always ALWAYS be easier#to try and fix earth than to start over somewhere else#literally even if earth has nothing but rocks it STILL has more going for it than even the most habitable exoplanet#at least earth has air we can breathe gravity we can bear and is in the habitable zone#and it’s not full of potential allergens or plants/animals that we can’t eat#and we *already know* what’s edible and useful on earth which we’ve learned over millennia#and also. hand waving all the shit like allergens and inedible flora/fauna.#if your colonial humans are scratching a living from the soil and trying to find a niche for themselves in the local ecology.#ugh what am i trying to say here#like. *mean girls meme* so you DO acknowledge that ‘primitive’ technology is the best tools for this job?#but it’s more than that. like okay these colonists are doing the best they can with what they have and so they’re not ‘primitive’?#so you admit that the best way to ensure survival for future generations is to live sustainably?#i get it. i get it. i love made up alien ecologies and i love survival stories#but there’s gotta be (there is i’ve read it) a better way to tell them that doesn’t trash indigenous people while having your characters#live like them#like??? that’s what i’m trying to say. there’s some cognitive dissonance here#i’m trying to tell a story about people doing colonizing and having them live off of and understand the land#*IN not i’m

thinking about one of the prides being in the midst of domesticating a bird population...
like. there's so little jump to get from "hey these tasty birds really like seeds from this plant" to "hey let's start collecting the seeds ourselves to feed them and make them get close to us" to "hey these things are kinda cute and if you aren't hunting them they kinda just hang out nearby" to "they are ours now. this ones named pinky and we love her so we'll eat her last :)"

Shea thought life would change drastically once she became an actress, but things hadn’t been that different. She still got to hang out with her cousins and friends, even though sometimes it meant she had to take a selfie with a stranger or two. She enjoyed having people over to the rooftop for some privacy, and was glad when Luna and Jordyn wanted to bring their boyfriends over to introduce each other. The five sat around in a circle to hang out.
Tumblr media
“Can you pleaaaaaase put me in your next movie!?” Luna begged. “I’m a great actress, I swear!”  “It’s not up to me,” Shea said with a laugh. “Trust me, I had to turn Asia down like a thousand times already.” “Where is she, anyway?” Luna asked. “I thought this whole rooftop get together was so we could meet each other’s boos?” “Eh, it’s been up and down with her,” Shea said with a shrug. “I don’t think she’s handling my glow up too well. It’s not my fault girls are throwing themselves at me all the time!”
Tumblr media
“Ok, that’s the exact kind of thing you need to nip in the bud right now,” Jordyn said with a laugh. “Don’t let fame go to your head and ruin your relationship! Asia’s good for you, dude!” “Just like my sweet James is good for me,” Luna said with a wink. “In more ways than one.” “Ok, ok, we don’t need to hear about your woohoo-life, dude,” Shea said.
Tumblr media
“What about you two?” Luna asked, pointing between Jordyn and Johnny. “You guys smash...god, I don’t even know what you have down there. Are alien parts like boy parts?” “Luna!” Jordyn exclaimed. “That’s so inappropriate!” “What!?” Luna said with a shrug. “You’re the one dating an alien.”
Tumblr media
“God, can you just not?” Jordyn said. “You’re such a bitch sometimes.” “Hey, let’s ease up on the language,” said James. “Don’t talk to her that way!” Johnny exclaimed. “Ok!” Shea said, standing up. “Well, this has been extremely riveting and not awkward at all. I think it’s time we all leave and never talk about this night ever again. Deal?” The teens stood up, all feeling uncomfortable and awkward, then went their separate ways.
