A big box is waiting for Daiyu at home. It’s the kind of box used to ship fruit. In big, bold letters it says: SQUONK BREEDING PROGRAM. 

The squonk inside the box can be heard tearfully snuffling as it sniffs around. It carries trauma in its wrinkles but its a survivor, having not dissolved into tears despite its hardships. This squonk is known to track things down, but then when it finds what its looking for, regardless of what that is, it bursts into tears and looks for an escape.

To say she’s surprised to find a box with said lettering on her doorstep would be an understatement. Opening it up, she’s really not sure what she expected but the whining, crying, and mutilated squonk is a sight ... well, for eyes. It is a sight. A snotty, weepy sight. Daiyu remembers how she was called a squonk whenever she’d cry as a child and she looks at the creature with distaste.

She tries to leave it on the doorstep and get inside to her kitchen, but she can’t quite leave the sobbing creature be. More importantly, Nugget is lapping up the squonk’s tears. Daiyu carries the box inside, tilts it slightly and lets the creature slip out. A problem for later.
