ALSO IF YOU'RE STEALING DOWNLOADING BOOK ONLY TO READ IT, YOU'RE NOT STEALING
The government steals from you, your employer steals from you, you're not a bank robber but you earned to read that sci-fi book that costs $20 and we're talking used paperback in Kolorado on amazon
DOWNLOAD THE FUCK ALL
Spoke to a gen z person the other night and apparently the young folks don't know about the very legal sites from which you can access public domain media (including Dracula, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and other Victorian gothic horror stories)?
Like this young person didn't even know about goddamn Gutenberg which is a SHAME. I linked to it and they went "aw yiss time to do a theft" and I was like "I mean yo ho ho and all that, sure, but. you know gutenberg is entirely legal, right?"
Anyway I'm gonna put this in a few Choice Tags (sorry dracula fans I DID mention it though so it's fair game) and then put some Cool Links in a reblog so this post will still show UP in said tags lmao.

The Gentleman of the Bar - Klaus Mikaelson
Here is the part 1
TW: female!reader, smut, piv, lost of virginity, fingering, oral sex (f receiving)
Tumblr media
So you were at the Mikaelsons' house to spend the night. Klaus was showing you around the house. Surely one of the most beautiful buildings in New Orleans in your opinion. You found each piece more magnificent than the last. Klaus then took you to your room for the night. She was lovely, all adorned with gold, for a little student you were blown away.
- If you're out of breath for this room you should come see my office, scoffed he kindly said.
- Oh no I'm not going to bother more than necessary, you smile
- You don't bother me at all luv. Klaus replied seriously.
- Do you live here alone?
- No, my brothers and my sister are coming back tomorrow. Maybe you'll meet them before you leave us. You nodded slowly.
You were both looking forward to meeting his family and at the same time you were stressed, after all they were cheaters, elegant and you were just a student who worked as a waitress and it was embedded in them. As if Klaus could hear your worry he gently placed a hand on your back and stroked lightly with his thumb.
- So do you want to see this office, or not? You know it serves as a library too, your eyes lit up.
- Fine.
Klaus laughed lightly and directed you towards the sumptuous room. It took your breath away, all these magnificent old books. Your gaze landed on the desk in the center of the room. You approached the imposing wooden desk. Gently pass your fingertips over its kidneys. You felt Klaus on your back. He was so close that you could feel the heat emanating from his body irrigating yours. His breath ghosted towards your ear and he whispered.
- I can feel you shiver.
You closed your eyes as his lips rested on your neck. You could feel the hickey he was digging into your skin. You quickly turned towards him and he moved even closer in your direction. You found yourself glued to the desk, hands on the wood to steady yourself.
- Admit that you're dying for it luv. Said that you want me...
- Klaus, I want you. I want you inside me, you moaned.
He grabbed your lips roughly and kissed you. Out of breath you separated. You stared at him for a few moments and finally kissed him again. He placed his hand on the back of your neck and deepened the kiss, he ran his tongue over your bottom lip. You opened your mouth a little to let him in. He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you incredibly close to him. He then moved his hand from your lower waist to squeeze your ass, you moaned into his mouth at his actions. He pulled away from your mouth slightly and whispered 'jump', and you followed. his orders.
- Klaus what if someone comes in?
You don't get an answer, instead his mouth is back to yours and he holds you against him with your legs around him size. He then sat you down on the desk and completely distanced himself from you, he enjoyed how red your face was and how out of breath you were right after he kissed you. He smiled as he unbuttoned your pants and slowly slid them down your legs.
- Klaus, it's my first time.
- I will take care of you love. He slipped a finger over your wet folds.
- You're so wet for me luv.
- More, you mumble breathlessly.
- That's what I thought, he smiled at you again before falling on my knees to devour.
Klaus had his hand on your lower stomach to hold you in place as he licked a long shaft up to your folds. He sucked on your clit for a second, then pulled out and licked his fingers before rubbing circles on your clit. You threw your head back and put your hand over your mouth to reduce your noises. You arched your back and grabbed onto Klaus' hair. He was doing it so well and it was so new, it was honestly turning you on more than you ever had before when you were all alone. The combination of his fingers moving in and out of you at such a fast pace and his tongue working your clit so well, you came.
- I have no intention of stopping love.
You blushed while Klaus had unbuckled his pants which were starting to seriously tighten him and took out his penis. He almost wanted to make fun from you, your face turned purple and he could feel the worry in your eyes; It’s true that it was rather big and quite long. Anyway, Klaus stroked himself a few times and you spread your legs as wide as possible and wrapped your thighs around his waist. Klaus then pushed inside. You threw your head back at the feeling and Klaus breathed in, you had never felt like this before and you didn't want it to stop. Klaus had grabbed onto your hips quite roughly and fucked you mercilessly, you were to the point of tears in your eyes from the pleasure. Klaus had put his hand between the two of you and rubbed your clit, you were squirming even more now.
- Your body is so sensitive to my touch, love.
You just nodded at his comment and gripped his arms tighter as you got closer and closer to cumming. Klaus came and he quickly brought you to your orgasm shortly after, you arched your back again and held on to him so you wouldn't fall off the desk.
- Gosh you're not going to go to sleep any time soon tonight.
He rested his forehead against yours. You were in sweaty, smiling and messy hair when you took Klaus' cheek in your hands and placed a small kiss on his lips.
- It was fantastic.

A Court of Shadows and Sunlight - Chapter Two
Pt. One
Ao3 Link
Thank you so much for the love for this fic so far! I had no idea anyone would see it. Anyway, this chapter dives into some smuttier themes so you have been warned ;) minors dni
I’m trying my hardest for a slow burn with these two but it’s so hard.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gwyn didn’t know what to do with herself. It had been months since the Blood Rite. Months had passed since Azriel had begun his almost daily habit of meeting her after her shift at the library, and yet she still couldn’t calm her nerves as she waited for his face to appear. A small part of her was silently preparing for the day he tired of her. She was certain one day, she would round the corner into the entryway of the library and see not Azriel, but a note from Clotho conveying his regrets. She wasn’t sure how she would survive it. How had it come to this? Months ago, she didn’t give Azriel’s presence a second thought. Now? She lived for every small moment with him, nervously awaiting his every move.
“What is that mind of yours spinning up?” a male voice taunted, pulling her from her thoughts.
“Nothing,” She replied a bit too quickly.
“You definitely were thinking about something priestess,” he responded with a smirk, “I could practically hear your thoughts from here.”
Gods she loved that smirk. One of his shadows split off to twine around her shoulders of its own accord, pointedly ignoring him when he tried to summon it back. With a giggle, she stroked it like it was some beloved pet. An almost pained expression seemed to pass over his features before he schooled them back into cool neutrality.
“Cmon,” she said, breaking the silence that had started to form, “I want to finish my book”. Without bothering to see if he was following, she set off up the steps toward the House’s private library. When they reached the study, Gwyn flung herself out across the plush couch with a groan.
“Ugh it feels good to be off my feet,” she sighed, “Merrill has been absolutely relentless this week”.
“You should tell her to fuck off,” Azriel replied, smiling as he strode across the room to sit at the desk. Those smiles had become more frequent the more time they spent together. She treasured them.
“Gods, that would be satisfying, but I would rather keep my job,” She answered. And she really would love that. Would love the satisfaction of confronting Merrill as Gwyneth Berdara, Valkyrie. She pushed the thought aside for now, eager to dig into her next Sellyn Drake novel. There would be time to muse on Merrill’s comeuppance later. As she cracked the spine on her latest novel, the pair settled into a companionable silence, broken only by the sound of turning pages and Azriel’s scratching pen. As she found her page, her toes curled when she remembered where she left off. She was just about to get to the good part of her novel. She glanced over to Azriel to be sure he couldn’t sense her anticipation before diving in.
He slowly lowered his head down, down between her quivering thighs to where she needed him most. With a growl, he took the waistband of her lacy underpants between his teeth and tore them away. Then, before she could move, his mouth was upon her. Sucking, licking, devouring…..
Cauldron, she was hot. Gwyn shifted slightly in her spot on the couch, trying to alleviate the growing ache that was forming between her legs. Without thinking, her gaze drifted to the shadowsinger’s mouth. What would it feel like for him to do what Drake’s characters did?
A cool brush across her wrist yanked her out of her fantasy. One of his shadows had come to play. Cauldron, she was sitting in the exact same room as Azriel and all but panting after him. She shook herself, risking a glance to see if she had somehow broadcast her thoughts to the Illyrian where he sat at his desk. His pen sat forgotten on top of a report, his hands clenched where they sat on the desk. Something had him tense. A muscle ticked in his jaw. Could he actually tell what she was thinking? The thought sent a blush flashing up her cheeks. Then, she scented it. That change in him. Night-chilled mist and cedar now were underlined by something muskier and distinctly male. His arousal she realized. Did that mean he could scent her too? Was that why his demeanor was suddenly tense? Had her arousal somehow aroused him? This was all too much. This wasn’t how friends behaved.
“I should go to bed,” she squeaked, running for the door.
“Gwyn-“
“Goodnight, Azriel” she ground out. End. Of. Conversation. There was no way she was sticking around after this. She wished she had a shell to crawl inside and hide.
Later, safe in her dormitory bed, Gwyn burned. No matter what she did, she couldn’t get the spymaster’s scent out of her nostrils. She tossed and turned, but her memory kept returning to the way that muscle in his jaw moved. She wanted to put her hand there when she pulled him in for a kiss. Gwyn kicked her way out of her blankets and sat up in bed, ripping off her night dress as she did so. Rather than helping her focus on cooling down, though, she was now acutely aware of how her nipples hardened in the brisk night air. What would it feel like if Azriel touched her there, she wondered. Slowly, she brought her own hand up to cup her breast, running a thumb over the stiffened peak. In her mind, scarred flesh replaced her own smooth palm. It felt good. Better than good. Growing bolder, she began to run a hand down the plane of her stomach. As her hand met the patch of curls between her thighs, she remembered what some of the protagonists in her novels did when they were alone and yearning for their lover.
She was curious if this would relieve the need that her earlier encounter brought on. She cautiously ran her finger down until it caressed the sensitive nub at the apex of her thighs. She gasped, surprised at the sensation. While new, it was entirely pleasurable. Emboldened, she continued to rub, feeling a flush spread up her chest as her other hand returned to her breast. She continued to stroke and explore, feeling a tightening in her core as she neared some unreachable peak. Finally, she dared to reach her fingers lower, moaning as they came into contact with her dripping center. She let herself imagine it was the shadowsinger’s digit that was now circling her entrance, gathering her wetness. With a sigh, she slipped a finger in.
“Az,” she let herself moan, giving in to the fantasy. After a moment, she added a second and found a rhythm, chasing her high. The sound of her labored breaths and soft moans of Azriel’s name filled the room. Gods, if she was burning before, now she was a full on inferno. She came with a cry, clenching and growing impossibly wetter around her own fingers. As her hand withdrew, she felt herself blush at what she had just done. Azriel was her friend, and friends didn’t touch themselves while they thought of each other. At the same time though, it had felt good. She had never felt anything like it. It was thoughts of Azriel, she realized, that had helped her reach her very first orgasm.
The next morning, Gwyn carefully avoided Azriel’s gaze as she entered the ring for training. A wayward shadow twined around her ankle almost immediately . There was no way it could tell what she did last night, right? The thought had her wanting to curl up and hide. Shaking herself, she wrapped her hands and joined her sisters in their warmups. Once they finished, Cassian announced that they would begin today’s training by sparring.
“Berdara, you’re with me,” Azriel’s voice called across the ring. Shit.
“Why can’t I spar with Nesta?” She protested, trying to hide her nerves. After last night, the thought of so much contact with Azriel was almost unbearable.
“It’s time you had a little more of a challenge,” he said with a smirk. The spymaster raised his fists then, entering a fighting stance. Clearly, he would hear no more arguments on the issue. Gwyn sighed and readied herself. She may be affected by him, but there was no way she would let him see it. Grinning, she struck out first, landing a strong kick to Azriel’s side. He smiled and responded with a punch that she deftly blocked. They continued this way for a time. Kick, block, hit, block. Finally, Azriel grew tired of their game. Giving her no time to respond, he quickly swept her legs, rushing in to pin the priestess to the mat. Here on the ground, there was almost nowhere their bodies didn’t touch. She willed her scent to remain unchanged as heat flooded her core. They stayed there for a moment, panting, before she wrapped her legs around his middle and flipped them. Oh gods, she thought, this is so much worse. Now that Gwyn was on top, she found it impossible to ignore where their bodies met. She couldn’t push down the desire to grind her hips where they sat above his own.
“Are you going to make me yield?” Azriel asked with a cheeky smile, testing her.
“You wish,” She responded, leaning in so their noses almost touched. Their eyes locked in a challenge, and she could swear Azriel’s darkened a shade. She sat there for a moment, gathering herself while they shared breath. As she panted, Azriel’s eye drifted to her parted lips before quickly darting back up to her own teal gaze. She blinked. She didn’t imagine that, right?
“So, which of us is the winner then, Gwyn?” Azriel murmured. At the sound of her name on the shadowsinger’s lips, Gwyn felt her self control slip away. He so rarely called her by her given name. Before she could think, her lips crashed to Azriel’s. The spaymaster stiffened below her, and for a terrible second she thought she had misinterpreted that glance from moments ago. Maybe she had imagined it. Then, Azriel let out a groan and reached up to place a hand on either side of her face. Gwyn thought she might melt as the Illyrian brushed his tongue across her closed lips, seeking her permission to deepen the kiss. She admitted him with a moan of her own. He tasted better than she ever could have imagined. Kissing Azriel was unlike anything she had ever read about. She could get lost in him, she realized. And she would be happy to do so.
A light cough had the pair jumping apart. Gwyn hopped to her feet, freckles disappearing in the blush that heated her cheeks. Across from her, she could have sworn Azriel sported a rosy tint on his own.
“That wasn’t exactly what I had in mind when I said sparring,” Cassian said with a wink, “but it seems you both managed to get your heart rates up anyway. Now that you’re… warmed up, Gwynnie, go practice your swordplay with Nesta and Emerie.”
Gwyn nodded wordlessly and rushed over to where her sisters stood waiting, trying to hide their laughter. Oh gods, she thought. They were never going to let her get away with this without interrogating her about every second of what just transpired.
“Az,” Cassian said, expression unreadable as he turned his attention to his brother, “Will you talk with me inside for a moment?”
“Of course,” Azriel responded, following the other Illyrian through the doors of the House. If Gwyn didn’t know any better, she could have sworn the shadowsinger looked nervous as he stepped through that door. Like he wasn’t ready for whatever their conversation was going to entail.
Scholar of Sumeru
~Alhaitham~
Staying in the Library, is one way to spend his quality time, avoiding unnecessary drama between scholars. As a scribe and scholar, he often gives his feedback on the documents that are submitted to him. Alhaitham is rather cold to those who are not used to his presence. However, there is one particular person that he acted differently with. She is his haravatat junior and only different a few years from him. Even if she was still a junior, she still worked hard and did well in helping to free Nahida. She is the youngest promising Haravatat from akademiya and his childhood friend, other than Kaveh. Alhaitham closes his book for a moment, knowing his time is up. He saw so many people in line right in front of his Scribe's room. Did Alhaitham go back? Absolutely no. A small groan escaped his lips knowing it would be so much work. He did give them an announcement about the time to submit the documents. Walking away, Alhaitham chose to escape his duty for a moment and read his book in peace, in his beloved home. Unlocking the door, he stared at his place for a while "Kaveh seems like to drop his paper wherever he goes" he picked up the crumpled paper and threw it into the trashcan. The moment someone pushed the door open, Alhaitham grabbed her wrist and pinned her to the wall. "Ah, so it was you. I thought it was someone else" Alhaitham looked down on her smaller figure, her hand was pinned above her head and to make it worse, Alhaitham seemed to enjoy this so much. Of course, he knew from the start that it was her. Only the three of them had the house key and no one else. As for Kaveh, he stayed in Port Omos today.
"Welcome back, Demetra. I've been longing to see my Junior today" Alhaitham leaned in close to her as his breath hit her delicate skin, inhaling her scents. "Since no one here today, should I teach my haravat junior, Thoroughly?~"
Alhaitham's relationship with her changed after the plot to save Nahida. He realized how important she is, for him. The fact that she was exposed to the danger, pained his heart. He craves her more every day. Although they were a childhood friend, he never saw her as a mere friend. He saw her as someone special to him. He wanted her kindness and affection for himself. Good thing Kaveh wasn't here today. Letting her go, Alhaitham carried her in his strong arms in bridal style. "Kaveh won't be here today, as for your sister, I have replied the message, so she might stay with someone else or probably be stuck temporarily. there tempre's no need to worry, there is just you and me, why don't we continue our heated kiss from last time" Alhaitham's tone made it sound too normal to do that. He went to his room and placed her on his bed. The light is rather dim, yet there are so many books, and crumpled paper on the floor. Alhaitham the genius, that's what everyone thinks. However, one can't achieve such a high intelligence level without hard work. His hand slowly make its way to her thigh. He holds back long enough to the point that he might devour her tonight, he will make sure to give her a pleasurable night that no one can give her. "Get ready, because I won't hold back anymore." Taking off his headphones and shirt, Alhaitham exposed his muscular body as he leaned down on her once more and captured her lips into a passionate kiss.
~Rayne~
Arriving from Fontaine, Rayne wanted to see her sister. She missed her a lot. She is originally from Sumeru just like her but she moved to Fontaine to join R&D in Fontaine. Many people stared at her due to her outfit. Well, she admitted that probably they hadn't seen anyone like this before. Chiori said this was good enough for her. She used a shield and spear just like Candace since she is the one who taught her to use it. Her hydro vision glowed as she placed it on her belt. Looking around the place, she saw the house nearby and that seemed decent enough. Alhaitham said that he arranged his room with someone else today. What was his name again? Hat guy? What a weird name. He probably asked Nahida to let whoever this person was agreed, to let her stay. Actually, she wants to stay with Candace instead, however the desert is too far from the city. Besides, it would be too crowded if she stayed with her sister, Alhaitham and Kaveh. As for those two relationships, she knows that He had feelings for her sister. The genius person in Sumeru falls in love with her sister, who wouldn't be happy? She needs to give them a couple of gifts soon. She wondered how will Demetra react if he went aggressive with her. "Hello?" Knocking a few times, she almost jumps when someone standing behind her. "Woa-you surprised me-wait, are you hat guy? I'm Rayne. I was supposed to stay with you here. Nice to meet you" Rayne patted his head with a big smile on her face.
However, the reason why Rayne comes here is not only to see her sister's graduation. But also to tell the truth about the abyss power within them. It might shock her since the density of that power is growing too much within her, more than Rayne was. There are more truth than that, however, it will be for another time, once she meets her. "So, are you really Hat guy? What's with the name? You know, you should smile more, that way you look even cuter than before"
You moaned softly when Bobby pulled you back against his chest, the hand that wasn’t digging into your tit buried knuckle deep in your cunt from behind as he stroked your walls slowly.
“No marks.” You ordered when you felt his teeth scrape over your pulse, ignoring the snarl he shot you through the mirror before settling for licking a thick stripe up the side of your neck. “Don’t fucking pout at me, pretty sure even those dumb fucks out there would notice if I walked out there with a hickey. Control yourself.”
“You need to quit being a fucking bitch.” He growled when you squeezed his cock before starting to stroke it through his slacks again. “It’s been five days, if I don’t feel that warm snatch wrapped around me soon, I’m gonna fucking kill someone.”
“Then you’ll just have to wait even longer, Bobby. I told you, we’re gonna drill some fucking self control into you.” You rolled your hips into his hand when his palm ground into your clit, dropping your head back against his shoulder and purring when you felt his cock throbbing under your palm. “Plus, I’m still pissed at you for the unbelievable pile of bull shit I had to dig you out of.”
“But… fuck, kitten.” He buried his face in your hair to cover his groan when you squeezed him again, bucking his hips into your grip and tugging softly at your nipple as you brought him towards his peak. “I fucking need it. You can just suck on the tip a little, just tide me over, I’m fucking dying.”
“You’re fucking dramatic, I’m still letting you come, so quit being a bitch.” You felt warmth bloom under your hand and smirked at him, your pussy sucking on his fingers as he started fucking them into you harder until you came with a broken sob.
“You goddamn cunt.” He looked furious when you pulled away from him, growling when you wrenched out of his grip to straighten your dress out. “I swear to god, you keep fucking holding out on me and I’m gonna split you in half in front of those cunts until you’re bleeding and begging me to stop.”
“No you’re not.” You shoved your tits back into your dress and did up the buttons. “You’re gonna play the grieving husband and father for as long as I tell you, and once I feel like the fucking heat has died down enough, maybe then you can get your dick wet. But until that happens, you’ll just have to settle for hands and dry humping. Now shut up and try to look wrecked.”
He didn’t have to try, he was wrecked. Dealing with your constant teasing without being able to actually fuck you had him feeling like his nerves were frayed to the limit, and topping that off with having to play the tormented widower was testing the self control you were adamant he exercise. There hadn’t even been any jobs for him to redirect his pent up rage, so he was stuck settling for furiously jerking himself every night as he longed for your perfect, warm cunt.
You gave him a sympathetic pat on the shoulder before opening the door and heading back out to the wake, not bothering to fix your face as it fit the narrative that Bobby had been comforting you while you cried yourself out. With how haggard he was, your stupid cunt neighbors had no problem accepting when you told them that you and Bobby had been supporting each other through this tough time.
Bobby’s jaw was clenched tight as he stood at the edge of his living room, barely paying attention to the twats who kept coming up to him to tell him how sorry they were for his loss while he watched you act like the perfect grieving friend. You shot him a glare when he tried to move closer to you, hiding your smirk behind your drink and leaning against the wall when he accepted another unwanted embrace like a good little widower.
“Hi, Suzy?” You had to act quick to school your face when you turned and found the fucking cop who had flirted with you at the damn crime scene standing there, you had not expected to see him again.
“Officer Bill!” You caught Bobby start out of the corner of your eye, shooting him a glance to settle him before turning back to your surprising visitor. “Robert’s just over there, did you need to talk to him about something? I thought everything was closed.”
“It is, and please just call me Bill.” He gave you a nervous smile and stepped a little closer to you, fidgeting with his hands as he struggled with what to say to you. “I just… I couldn’t stop thinking about you and I know these things tend to put all the focus on the family but I wanted to make sure you were ok? Since she was your best friend, I’m sure things are hard.”
Oh shit. Your flirting had worked a little too well, this boy was sweet on you. It took some doing for you to fight the pleased smile that tried to spread across your face, especially when you caught Bobby glaring at you over the cop’s shoulder when the man reached and gave your arm a reassuring squeeze.
“It’s been so hard.” You gave a small sob and could have laughed when he drew you into his chest, burying your face in the warm planes of muscle as he did his best to comfort you. “I feel so alone now. I’d usually talk to Mary about this, but now I have no one. Maybe I could talk to Robert but he’s suffering so much worse than me, I don’t want to burden him any more.”
“God, you’re so sweet, honey.” You managed to disguise your snort as another sob, pressing your body close to his and trying not to grin when he settled his hands at the small of your back, “You can talk to me, Suzy.”
“Bill, you just met me.” This was working out great for you; a dumb cop who was already wrapped around your finger and a new way to piss off Bobby, what could be better? “I don’t want to take advantage of you.”
“Baby, no, never.” He gave you a soft smile when you lifted your head to meet his gaze, cupping your face in one massive palm and gently brushing his thumb over the curve of your cheek in an effort to soothe you. “I just wanna help, but we don’t have to do anything you don’t want, ok?”
“Okay.” You leaned into his cheek and sighed softly as you batted your eyelashes at him, it had been a while since you had played this game, but seems like you were still a fucking pro. “Thank you.”
“It’s my pleasure, darlin’.” You let him give your waist a squeeze before stepping back, your eyes finding Bobby’s and narrowing at the look of unbridled rage you found there until he was cowed. “There’s a little bakery near here if you wanna have some privacy.”
He nodded towards the gaggle of housewives that was watching you with interest while the rest of your neighbors started filtering home and you sighed, accepting his hand and letting him lead you towards the front door while you gave Bobby one more warning glance to keep him from doing something stupid. As soon as the door closed behind you the busybodies went crazy, whisper shouting at each other as they tried to keep some semblance of decorum while they packed up all the leftovers and helped Bobby clean up, or rather, did all the cleaning while Bobby started downing scorch like it was his job.
Thirty minutes later and he was finally alone, exhausted from all the unwanted hugs and sympathies he had to endure and wanting nothing more than to lose himself in you. But he couldn’t because you were still out with that fucking cop. He sulked in the chair at the front window, watching your house as he slowly drained the bottle of scotch and tried to keep himself from imagining what you might be doing with that fucker.
By the time the bastard’s car finally pulled up in front of your house an hour later, the bottle was empty, Bobby wallowing in a pool of self pity that he never would have admitted to and growling when he watched the officer help you out of the car and lead you to your front door with an arm around your waist. When he watched him give you a peck on the cheek he almost lost it, dropping the bottle and cursing when he heard it smash against the floor. At least you didn’t invite him inside, sending him on his way with a little wave before strolling into your house without a second glance.
Bobby waited a few minutes after the cocksucker pulled away before storming over to your place, barely keeping himself together until he was able to knock on your front door.
“Hey there, Bobby.” You gave him a wicked grin when you opened the door, stepping aside and letting him in.
“The fucking cop?” He was itching to slap you, or maybe choke you, he was absolutely furious.
“Bobby, Bobby, Bobby.” You shoved him a little and snorted when he stumbled slightly. “Drunk again. What the fuck am I gonna do with you?”
“Fuck me.” He was so drunk he didn’t even care anymore, grabbing you by the back of your neck and dragging your face to his until his lips were devouring yours.
“Jesus, did I fucking break you, Bobby?” You chuckled when he growled in response and shoved you against the wall, grinding his hardened cock into your hip as he tried to wrap his hands around your throat. “No fucking marks! God, still haven’t learned, have you?”
Your slap sent him reeling, the only thing that kept him upright being your tight grip on his collar as you watched him with mock concern. He tried to snarl at you when you gripped his jaw in one hand, shaking his head with a demeaning tut before leaning forward to bite at his lips.
“You need to dump that fucking cop, kitten.” He purred into your mouth when you wound one leg around his hip and dragged him into you, letting him rock against you slowly with a low moan as his dick twitched in his pants.
“And you still need to fucking control yourself, instead of charging over to your single neighbor’s house like a bat out of hell right after your wife’s funeral when you know every fucking busybody in the neighborhood is gonna be watching us like a bunch of hawks.” You let him lift your other leg to wrap around him, pressing you into the wall and moaning into your neck as he ground right against your clit. “I’ll make you a deal Bobby; you manage to keep that temper of yours reined in and the neighbors off our backs for a whole month while I make that sweet, dumb cop fall in love with me, and I’ll let you do whatever he does to me, so you don’t combust.”
“You’re such a bitch.” His breath against your neck was desperate, the rhythm of his hips writhing against you growing frantic as you both neared your ends. “You let him fuck you and I don’t care, kitten, I’ll fucking kill him.”
“Aww, don’t worry baby, it’ll just be the tip.” You laughed when he snarled into your throat, forcing himself to pull back before he sank his teeth into you so you didn’t decide to torture him even more. “Look at you being so good, and I didn’t even mention your reward.”
“What is it?” Christ, you were just whipping men left and right today.
“Once I get that moron to give me his whole heart, I’ll let you help me break it.” He hit you at the perfect angle and you shuddered with bliss, your release soaking the front of his slacks as his own filled his briefs. “But in a way that keeps him wrapped around my little finger so we can use him if we need to.”
“Ugh, fuck. Fine.” He sighed defeatedly into your neck. “But if I haven’t had my dick sucked once by this time in two weeks, I’m getting a fucking toy.”
The dimitrescus, Donna and Mother Miranda x 👨 reader. Reaction when reader is working out shirtless? (Love your works by the way, can't stop reading all of it!💕)
Broken Truth (Looks at Ask): This is interesting...LET'S GO!!!
- Alcina Dimitrescu -
Alcina was walking around the castle, looking for her lover.
When she woke up - he was not in bed.
When she went to the kitchen - he was not there either.
She searched the garden (He loved tending to the flowers), the library (He would read there with Bela), the armory (Daniela loved showing her father figure all the weapons she had), and the study (He would pat with Cassandra) - he was not in any of those places and none of the girls had seen him.
Then she remembered that her lover had been having a hard time lately when Mother Miranda commented that he didn't look like much and wasn't worthy of being by Alcina's Side.
He spent most of his money on him - none of Alcina's - to purchase metal contraptions to 'become worthy of his wife'.
He had been in that room for hours on end for about 5 months now.
'He might be in there.' Alcina wondered as continued down the hall to her Husband's Workout Room.
The closer she got to the room - the door was open and the light was on the room - the sound of grunting and metal clanking together got louder and louder.
She ducked her head a bit and walked into the room - holding her hat to make sure it didn't fall off - and rose to her full height. She opened her mouth the speak but once her sight was no longer obscured by the brim of her hat, her jaw dropped, her face began to warm up, and her body tingled.
Before her - her husband stood: his back was to her and he was wearing nothing except his boxers - his very tight boxes; she would see his defined butt and it was amazing.
In his hands were large weights that he lifted and flexed his muscles - Alcina could see every muscle flex.
His skin was shining with sweat and the smell of his musk was driving Alcina crazy - she wanted to jump his bones. So very bad.
What she didn't know was that her beloved had developed a sense to detect her and knew she was watching him...so he decided to tease his Lady and Mistress.
He dropped the weights in his hands and raised one of them opened palmed to the sky before summer suiting forward and landing on that hand to where his feet were pointing to the ceiling before beginning his set of one-handed push-ups. This time - facing her.
Alcina's eyes widened at her lover's chiseled body - the drops of sweat flowing through the cracks of his abs and biceps...then she made the mistake of looking up and saw the large bulge in his tight underwear.
That's it - she had enough.
"Beloved." She called out, making the man look at her with a smirk - her face was bright red and she was biting her bottom lip.
"Alcina, My Love. When did you arrive?" He asked faking confusion.
"That doesn't matter. I need you to accompany me to our bed chambers. Now."
"Our Bed Chambers?" The man asked as he flipped him to stand upright. "It is breakfast time, is it not?" He raised an eyebrow as he walked closer to the tall woman - his scent flooding her nose.
"Well..." Her eyes glowed dangerously, "I'm having Blood Sausage for breakfast."
She grabbed his wrist and marched to their room with him in tow, locking the door, and refused to leave that room until she was pregnant with the Latest Dimitrescu Spawn.
- Bela Dimitrescu -
Bela was bored and in need of some cuddles so she went looking for her lover - the only man-thing her mother and sisters approved of.
She looked at the grandfather clock and saw it as around 9:45 - her lover would be in his workout room to burn off any extra energy before showering and going to bed.
She floated down the hall to her husband's workout room and walked into the room without knocking - it was her man and she could do whatever she wanted regarding him.
What she wasn't prepared for was the sight on the other side of that door.
Her Husband was boxing with the sandbag.
In nothing but his boxers.
She could see everything - from the singular drops of sweat that ran down his sculpted body to every single flex of muscle with every move he made.
If the sight didn't have her done it - it was his smell.
The room was filled with the smell of musk that he was giving off and it was intoxicating - it radiated power and it was making her hungry.
"Darling?" His deep voice returned her from her fantasies of all the ways she wanted him to rock her world but the fact she could see his imprint from his shorts sent her mind back into the gutter. "Bela, is there something wrong?"
"Do you always...working out like this at night?" She questioned as she walked slowly to her man.
"Yes, it's hard to move in clothes; I keep my boxers on just make sure I don't scar any maids."
"Scar Them?" Bela tilted her head with a dangerous gleam in her eyes. "What do you mean by that?"
"Well...the one time I worked out naked, a maid came in without knocking and she looked like she saw a ghost."
Bela was pissed.
"A maid saw you naked?!" She hissed. "Where is that harlot?!"
"Your Mother turned her into wine 3 nights ago."
'Good, I won't have to kill her myself. As for you..."
"NGH!" He clenched his teeth as Bela's hand wrapped around his throbbing manhood.
"You're going to learn to lock your door when in this room...and punishment for failing to inform me about that whore."
The Next Morning - Bela & [Y/N] weren't at breakfast.
- Cassandra Dimitrescu -
Cassandra would already be with her beloved because they were each others' sparring partners.
Cassandra would be doing push-ups while her beloved would be jumping rope.
She would look at him and smirk - she loved the way his body moved during intense workouts and the smell he gave off was perfect; it made her hungrier and hungrier with each passing moment.
When it would be time for the spar - her lover would use one arm to test himself more than he needs to for he wanted to be worthy of dating a Dimitrescu Daughter.
While sparring - Cassandra would try to pin him and have her ay with him - whether that would be drinking his blood or having him devour her like a full course meal.
This time - it was different.
She threw a punch at him but it was grabbed by his free arm and used against her to wrap around her neck, once he was behind her, he used his knees to the back of hers to make her fall to them and then lay on the mat.
Once his other hand was free, it snaked around her body and into her shirt, where it grabbed and twisted one of her nipples - making the girl squirm under him.
"D...Darling? What are you...?" She began but was cut off when his teeth locked into her neck.
"Every time we train, you make me submit to you. This time - you're mine, Cassandra Dimitrescu."
And his was exactly what he made her.
Daniela walked down the hall looking for her sister when she heard moaning coming from behind the door leading to the training room - she leaned in to listen and went to find her mother.
"Mother?"
"Yes, Dear?" Alcina asked as she looked up from the book she was reading.
"Why didn't you tell us Daddy was coming to visit & he brought presents?"
"Darling, you don't have a father."
"Then why did I hear Cassandra saying "More, Daddy! More!" in the training room?"
Alcina went wide-eyed as the glass in her hand shattered and the one thing she thought was...
'I'm too young for grandkids...'
- Daniela Dimitrescu -
CHOMP!!
"OW!!!"
She smelled something delicious and followed that smell to her lover's training room and found him completely naked with the exception of his undergarments, shadow boxing himself.
He looked like a full snack with the sweat making his body glaze and his muscles looking like beefcakes - he was just begging to be bitten and that's exactly what she did.
"Daniela? What was that for?" He asked her as he looked over his shoulder at his wife - who was clinging to his back like a koala with her fangs in his shoulder blade.
"I couldn't help it, love. Your scent was driving me crazy and I was in the mood for a snack." Daniela tried to say but her fangs were still in his skin.
"Dani, I was training, and as much as I would move to be your mid-morning meal; I need to get back at it if I want to keep the form you love so much."
"I love you for who you are - the body is just a plus. I don't want you to train, I want you to take me to bed and cuddle me."
"But..."
"Do you love me?" Dani asked.
"Yes, without a doubt." He answered.
"Would you do anything for me?" She asked again.
"Without question." He said.
"Then I want you to stop training and take me to our bedroom so that we can cuddle and make little vamp-babies."
"...Okay."
- Donna Beneviento -
Donna would be walking around Beneviento Manor - looking for the man who stole her heart. Who accepted her and her dolls and loved them all equally.
He wasn't in his normal spots but she did remember that he recently got interested in getting in better shape and asked her if there was anywhere in Beneviento Manor she would be alright with him making it into a workout room - she gave him one of the rooms on one of the floors under the house floor.
Donna walked down the hall without Angie as she followed the sounds of something grunting in effort echoing down the hall's walls.
She reached the opened room but didn't want to just walk in and disturb her love so she peeked around the corner and her eye widened while she let a gaspy moan escape her lips,
Her lover was laying on the weight bench with a long metal bar in his large hands - giant iron circles on each end.
She looked closer at the circles - 500 Pounds. That made her shiver - she knew he was strong but to be able to bench that much was...alluring.
She looked at his shining skin.
Listening to her man's grunts with each lift of the bar.
The define lines in his muscles with each movement he made.
It made her hot. She rubbed her legs together before she hid behind the wall completely and pressed her forehead against the cold wall.
She needed to get a hold of herself - she was like she had no control of herself but when she was around him, it was like she forgot all she was and wanted nothing more than her man.
She was so focused on keeping herself from relieving herself right then and there that she didn't notice she was no longer alone until a familiar weight pressed against her back and she was completely pressed against the wall.
"It looks like you have a very serious itch, My Love." his voice growled as his hand moved closer and closer to her throbbing organ.
"I...I can explain..." She blushed in her weak, gasping voice; she was embarrassed but having her lover so close with his body radiating power made her weak.
"Let me...help you with that, My Lady." He growled before one hand reached the buttons on the top of her dress and the other was cupping her womanhood while she bit her lip in hopes of being silent.
A few moments later - he had her on that same bench that was still drenched in his sweat and scent, her hands gripping the metal poles that held the long rod over her head' sweat dripping from her body as she was stretched apart.
She was pleading for him to continue to Beneviento Bloodline with her.
Begging him to make her family's bloodline stronger than it ever was before.
Crying for him to make her a mother.
Who was he to deny his lady what she wished?
- Mother Miranda -
Miranda stood n her lab, looking at the results from the latest experiment and possible host for Eva but once again - it wasn't good enough and it makes her angry.
Once again - so close but so far away.
"Miranda? Love?" A familiar male voice called out to her.
She looked up at was met with the shirtless, bare-chested, sweaty body that was the man she entrusted her heart to.
He stood there in the doorway with a towel around his neck while one hand used an edge of the towel to wipe the sweat from his face.
The Village Leader blushed but then looked away from him to keep from looking upon her face.
"[Y/N]. Darling. I thought we talked about you walking around the lair like that. It's rather...distracting." She said.
"I do hope you'll forgive me but I sensed that something was bothering you and I wanted to make sure you were alright." The man said as he walked over to her, wrapping his arms around her stomach and pulling her back into his bare chest.
"Your...concern for me is welcomed, Darling, but I must return to work. Please, do prepare yourself for dinner; I shall be down in a moment." Miranda said as she reached for a book, only to her lover's hand to stop her.
"Miranda." He turned her to face him - worry and compassion in his eyes. "You've been working on this for over a week straight; you haven't taken any time for yourself...or for me." He was sad - afraid his lover had forgotten about him.
"My Love, I'm sorry I have made you feel this way but...I'm so close, Darling. I can return her to us and...MPH!" She was cut off by a deep kiss. She melted into it before he pulled away from her.
"Enough of this for one night, My Love. Let me take care of you...and make you see you don't need to Cadou for a child. Just...me" He kissed her again and she wrapped her arms around him; submitting to his command and desire.
It would be a year later that Miranda would invite the Lords to meet Eva and Ethan Winters arrived in the village - only for his wife and child to be given back to him and escorted out of the village; never to be seen again.
warned you p.sh
Tumblr media
pairing: tutor!sunghoon x fem!reader
genre: smut, but at most suggestive for now
wc: 3k
warnings: mature content, cursing, mentions of erection, mentions of casual sex, y/n saying she’s screwing someone’s dad but she doesn’t lmfao
synopsis: y/n needs to pass calculus, and sunghoon needs to get laid
part 1/???
You were going to your snobby and strict private school, just walking to the beat of Sunmi blasting in your headphones. The pigtails got in the way of the headphones but you made it work. You were aiming for the cutesy innocent look today, regardless of if your whole grade thought you were some harlot. You’d rather call yourself a femme fatale, but what you’re really trying to reclaim as a raging bratty feminist is a bimbo.
Bimbos definitely need to keep their head up high with confidence, but seeing the latest AP calculus quiz on your desk with its 37% marked in red severely irked you in that it made you feel dumb, and not the good kind, the very small and insignificant kind. Bimbos don’t like feeling like that. You twirled your pigtail in your hand and tried to keep a neutral expression, holding in the heavy sigh you so badly need to exhale out. That’s when you heard it.
“How did she manage to score that low?” someone snickered.
“All that time spent on her back and not at a desk really paid off.” another person snickered. You really wanted to say you’ve actually got railed by their dad on his desk and that you’re quite adaptable on where you do it, but you didn’t wake up and choose violence today...and plus the teacher would’ve sent you to the office. Giving them attention would just fuel the fire that you can’t put out when you’re up against slut shaming vermin when you’re only a team of one. The bell rang, signaling your next class and before you were able to stand up and go, you were asked to stay for a few minutes afterwards along with someone else. That someone else being Park Sunghoon. You and Sunghoon walked to the desk of your teacher and stood before her.
“Now Y/N, I know that you haven’t been doing well in class so I decided to pair you up with Sunghoon as your tutor. I feel as though you would have great improvement after a few study sessions, considering big chapters are coming up to wrap up the semester, and now is the best time more than ever to get some aid that I can’t provide.” You peek over to Sunghoon and he glances at you briefly before looking back at the teacher.
“Is this mandatory?” you ask.
“If you want to pass this class, I strongly recommend that you let him help you. An alternative explanation could help.” You really had no other choice but to nod your head yes and go along with it.
“Good. Now that both of you are informed, hurry along before you’re late to your next class.” After both of you scurry out of the room, you walk ahead to your next class and feel a tap on your shoulder.
“Hi, I’m Sunghoon, but you already knew that.” he says awkwardly while he hands you a post it note in neat handwriting. You eye it, then look up.
“You’re giving me your number?” you ask. He nods.
“Texting is the most efficient way to communicate with me since I have ice skating practice and student council related things to do.” he iterates. Before you even say a word, Sunghoon is already off to his next class, but you don’t miss the way he turns around to wave at you and yells “Text me!” in the hallway. You’ve gotten many stares before, from the way you carry yourself and from the way you purposely pull your uniform skirt higher because you think it would look best as a mini skirt, but this time, you heard whispers.
“Why is he talking to her?”
“Must be doing charity work.”
You smile. You can’t wait to tell your best friend Sunoo what just happened at lunch.
-
“The ice prince is doing what now?” Sunoo says with fruit gummies in his mouth.
“He’s helping me with calculus. And gave me his number.” you say while grabbing for a piece of candy to which Sunoo lets you grab a few.
“So…what’s the plan here?” Sunoo says with an eyebrow raised.
“I’ll text him right now and have some fun.”
“You whore! What do you mean have some fun?” Sunoo asked not subtly with his booming voice.
You roll your eyes. “You know the drill. I think he’s an easy target. I’ll be my cute charming self and see what happens.”
“You mean you’ll be a man eater and devour that poor innocent boy whole?”
“You know me so well.” you say, grinning ear to ear. You whip out your phone and compose a text.
You: Hey Sunghoon, it’s Y/N, are you free after school today?
Unknown: Hey, and yes. Where would you like to study?
You: I’m more comfortable at my house where there’s less distractions. The library is too quiet for me and I like some white noise.
Sunoo peeks over your shoulder and says, “He responds fast.”
You smile, “Right?”
You start typing right away, but notice the three dots before you get to send anything.
Unknown: Sounds good, I’ll meet you after school :)
Sunoo gasps. “A smiley? A smiley!” You giggle at his reaction.
“It’s just an emoticon silly.” you say.
“It’s going to be water droplets and eggplants soon though.” Sunoo said in a sing song voice. You can’t help but laugh at your easily giddy best friend. You had big, big plans to get your prey, and you were going to have your fun in the process of passing calculus while you’re at it.
-
English literature wasn’t the most fun class in the world with talking about MacBeth and all, however, the fun part was daydreaming about Sunghoon. You have fancied the boy for the longest time casually but thought he was a little too vanilla for you. And you don’t like admitting it, a little too good for you with being a smart hardworking boy with his head on steady shoulders while yours just bobbled to whatever. Anyhow, you needed danger. A little spice, and everything delectably nice. He didn’t seem the type to be rough enough.
He was however tall, lean, and achingly adorable. Handsomely crafted, so soft spoken, and knew when to shut up unlike every boy you’ve slept with thus far. He’s a nice target.
The bell rang, and you were quite surprised to see Sunghoon standing by your locker while you’re on your way there.
“Sunghoon!” you say cheerfully, making sure there was a bounce in your step, very glad you’re not wearing a bra today. For some reason the air conditioning wasn’t working today at school so you used this as an excuse to unbutton a few buttons earlier on your white crisp button up. You can see very clearly Sunghoon gulp and you can’t help but do your eye smile at this, and he does a soft grin in return.
“How did you figure out where my locker was?” you say as you tilt your head. Sunghoon couldn’t help but think the simple gesture of a head tilt was so charming.
He shrugs. “I was going to text you but I knew you would be in class, so I looked at some documents to find out which locker it was. You know, student council perks.”
“Ah.”
“Please don’t find it creepy.”
“I won’t, you dork.” You bend over to reach your locker since it was on the bottom row. Sunghoon stepped aside to let you open your locker, and his breath hitches in his throat. Seeing the back of your thighs in a skirt that was hiked up higher than it was supposed to was bewitching. He felt like he was in a trance and lingered his eyes on your legs for quite a while. Your skirt was just at the edge of the curvature of your ass, leaving some to the imagination but not much. You knew exactly what you were doing. You had many cheap tricks up your sleeve, and you were going to use them to your advantage. You could practically feel his gaze on you and you can’t help but smirk as you grab your calculus textbook along with your pencil bag, still bent over taking your time putting the items in your backpack. Sunghoon knows he has to stop staring or otherwise this won’t look good for him.
“Ready to go?” you say with a smile. It takes a moment for him to process what just happened and he’s all the while wondering how did your legs not hurt when you didn’t crouch to the ground all the way.
“Of course.”
-
The walk to your home was pleasant, you looked down at your shoes often and Sunghoon mapped out what sections you two were to go over in the textbook, including the homework that was assigned today. You asked him how his classes went and he responded after pausing to mull over his thoughts.
“It’s okay. Nothing exciting happened other than right now.” he says, looking at you while giving you his undivided attention. You can’t help but admire the beauty that is Sunghoon. His soft looking hair that frames his face nicely and the way he has his hands shoved into the pockets of his uniform slacks make him look so boyishly handsome and breathtaking.
It takes a moment for you to respond. “What about right now is so exciting?”
He gently smiles and looks away from you. “I don’t tutor people often. Every once in a while I get asked to help students about a few things but never really spend enough time with them to consider it tutoring. And the change of pace on how I manage my time is much needed. I don’t interact with different people often, so this is...nice.”
Your heart races as the clouds take over the blue sky slowly. You notice just how pretty the cute moles on his face are as your gaze lingers on them for a bit. He does that stupid charming smile that makes you giddy and you blush, picking up the pace. You start turning while walking backwards just to give him your undivided attention.
“We should walk faster, Sunghoon. It might start drizzling.”
-
Both of you entered your home and took your shoes off at the front door. Sunghoon took a quick glance at your home, to which he said “this is a cozy house.” You tell him your bedroom is the coziest spot in the house, and let him trail behind you as you go up the stairs, and he doesn’t miss the way your pretty and dainty hand smooths over the railing as you walk up. Entering your room, he noticed the pink canopy bed right away, and the pink heart shaped pillow on it. There were so many details in just one spot, with the floral comforter and lights attached to the tulle. It was pretty and graceful. Light and airy. Soft.
“You can sit on the bed. Let me get changed out of this uniform, it’s so hot in this blazer.” you say as you start to strip in front of your closet, looking away from Sunghoon. Now, Sunghoon doesn’t see himself as a pervert, so therefore, when he noticed you unbuttoning your white button up and could only see the smoothness of your back and notice there was no bra in sight, his cheeks flushed. He quickly turned the other cheek and looked anywhere else but you. Unfortunately, perhaps fortunately, you had a full length mirror with fake pink roses running along its sides across your room. Sunghoon tried really, really hard to look at the curve of the pink petals and not at the curve of your breasts when you turned to the side slightly, but he failed so horribly. He could see himself and his cheeks were beet red. The bulge in his pants was so noticeable too. He quickly placed his backpack on his lap and winced at how heavy it was against him. Why did that kinda feel good?
You turn around wearing your school uniform skirt still but this time with a bright red crop top and of course, no bra. Sunghoon is dying and he can’t help but stare at how prominent your nipples are through the thin material. You take the pigtails down and he loves the way your hair cascades down your shoulders once it’s out of its confines of a scrunchie. He blinks once, twice, many times. Maybe if he sees only the back of his eyelids long enough he will stop picturing you naked. It doesn’t work, and you just stand with your hands on your hips and a lilt to your voice.
“Are you thirsty?” you say sweetly, knowing your tricks are working.
“Uh, y-yeah. Do you have water? Can I have water please?” Sunghoon is so precious.
“Of course you can.”
-
You really are a chintzy whore at best. Your excuse for not sitting at the desk of your room to study was that there was only one comfy study chair, and that you didn’t feel like bringing the dining room chair upstairs. That’s understandable, right? You could’ve however used the chair at your vanity, but that’s just a padded stool with no back to it. Wouldn’t want you or Sunghoon to forget and lean back too far and fall to your doom. So you told Sunghoon that you would rather study in your bed.
You played a little playlist in the background, something mellow and soft and not too distracting. Every once in a while Sunghoon will ask what song it is, and you respond with a chipper in your voice.
“Oh, this one is Sex and Sadness by Madi Sipes and the Painted Blue!”
“That’s one hell of a title.” he chuckles.
“It sure is. The lyrics are so...pretty? I can’t put it into words. The part where it talks about ‘stained glass loved lace’ gets me every time. And ‘whispering words into the singer’s skin.’ It’s romantic.” Sunghoon notices how there’s a certain dazzling feature in your eyes as you talk about the song. He wants to stare in your eyes, but alas you have to finish this one problem. Sunghoon prioritizes responsibilities over such silly, frivolous things that only he notices.
“So tell me how you’re going to solve this problem.” Sunghoon says swiftly while grabbing the glass of water on your nightstand.
You stare at the problem and try your best to concentrate. You really do. But you can’t help the way Sunghoon’s hand looks lazily placed on his thigh. Without much thought, you trace a finger on the back of his hand and say, “Your hands are so veiny.”
“Y/N.”
“And big.”
Well that’s a first, Sunghoon thinks. He knows he’a good looking, a bunch of girls swoon over him at school and at the rink all the time. The most common compliment he gets is on his eyes, and maybe hair, but not on his hands of all things. You’re fascinated by them, and you won’t stop tracing along the veins. Your touch sets his skin ablaze, and it doesn’t seem like you’re finishing this problem any time soon.
“Let’s take a break. I think you’re getting distracted because your brain is all fried.” Sunghoon says softly, still letting you continue playing with his hand.
“I’m getting distracted because I have a pretty boy in my bed.” you giggle. You finally look up and see how pink his cheeks are from blushing.
He starts to stammer “You’re the one that wants to study in your bed!” His voice is a little pitched and you can’t contain your laughs.
“Do you want to move to the desk then?” you ask.
He shakes his head and mumbles a “no.” A few moments pass and you almost didn’t hear what he says next because it’s under his breath.
“I’ve never been called pretty before.”
“Gasp.” you say, lightheartedly.
“No but like, I’ve been called handsome, smart, a little weird, but not pretty.” Sunghoon replies. A moment of silence passed, and you started to ponder.
“There’s a song called Pretty Boy in my playlist somewhere.”
You go over to your laptop and click on The Neighbourhood song. You sway your hips gently and get lost into the music. Sunghoon just gazes at you as you move along to the steady pulse of the music and let the melodies feel you instead of the other way around. You do a little twirl and waltze your way to your bed, grabbing his hand.
“Dance with me.”
He obliged, wordlessly.
He takes in the words of the lyrics and closes his eyes. If he can’t see how close he is to you right now, it feels less real. It feels less scary. Not that you’re scary, Sunghoon doesn’t think girls with pink heart shaped pillows are scary. What’s scary is you laughing at his boner because he hasn’t been this close to a girl before since a random winter formal he had in grade school. The girl wasn’t all that nice since she dipped to dance with his friend. You’re much softer and nice. More delicate. You even smell nicer. God, your little hands enclosed together behind his neck and his big hands on your waist feels too good to be true. He can feel your gaze on him.
“Sunghoon, open your eyes.” He does, and his breath hitches and you look down, because you definitely feel something poking you and it wasn’t there before.
“I have to go, I have a curfew and it’s getting late, I’ll walk myself out.”
“Sunghoon I can at least walk you down-“
“No, seriously. I can go by myself. Thank you though.”
He’s so wide eyed and his cheeks are so rosy and he dashes away like his life depends on it. And you didn’t even get to kiss him.
Prince!Kyōjurō x Princess!F!S/O: Mutual Masturbation/Begging (Smut, Kinktober, NSFW Scenario)
Warnings: Smut, Dirty Talking, Making Out, Teasing, Mutual Masturbation, Begging
MASTERLIST
***
For the rest of the weekend at her family’s home, everyone felt the Princess’ frustration and irritation. No one could even decipher what it had stemmed from, and the ones who were brave enough to ask had suffered such terrifying glares and curt sighs— all before being ignored. Not one person knew what to do with the young woman, all except one man whom had been nothing but polite to the young lady of the house.
He was the cause of all her frustration, and he enjoyed every second of making her want to come to him instead. From the way he let his eyes linger a little too long on her during meals, or purposely going into the library whenever he knew she was in there, it a made for a very amusing time for him.
That was, until (Y/n) had finally had enough.
“Pray tell, what are you doing here in my corner of the library, during the hour that I’m normally here,” The young woman snapped irritably, closing her book a little too roughly as she glared up at the man who was serving to be the bane of her existence. “If I was aware that my father had invited a stalker to live with us, I would have opposed. Violently.”
“Just like how you opposed me teasing you with my cock?” Kyōjurō asked with a smile, feeling his eyes grow heavy with lust the moment that he noticed (Y/n)’s far-off stare; as if she was getting lost in a fond memory.
That had been a fond memory for him too, yet he knew that he wanted to make more— and much steamier ones at that. So, there he was, deliberately provoking her into initiating things— on the off chance that she would actually swallow her pride and beg for him. All of him.
“I believe I don’t know what ever you’re talking about,” the barb was uttered with a roll of her eyes, which had Kyōjurō’s smile turning into a grin.
He then walked to stand closer to where she sat at a table, peering at the cover of her book— to which (Y/n) resorted to childishly covering up with one hand— before saying, “I doubt that you would forget, princess. But… I could always remind you.”
Instead of rising to the bait however, the princess merely turned her attention away from Kyōjurō and gathered all of her things up; ready to get up and leave, until she felt a familiar pair of lips quickly brush against the top of her head.
“I’ll see you around, my lady.” And with that, the blond— fully prepared to surrender for that day— began his trek out of the library so he could go straight to his room and mull things over. He’d thought that provoking her would have started something, yet it didn’t really work out how he wanted things to.
He was clearly disappointed, but it was still no cause to totally wave a white flag yet. After all, he still had a few weeks remaining for his stay with the (L/n)s.
A wistful sigh left his lips at the thought of his impending departure, yet all of his thoughts about it were brutally cut off when he heard the sound of heels steadily clacking against the floor— and the steps only grew faster and faster in pace, the closer he got to his room.
“You! Excuse you!” (Y/n) called out indignantly, not even bothering with decorum since there was only the two of them in the hallway. “What was that? I demand an explanation!”
And taking mercy on her, Kyōjurō finally stopped by his bedroom door and turned around to wait for the spirited young woman to catch up to him before answering, “What was what, princess?”
“That… that kiss!”
He couldn’t help but smile at how flustered she looked. “It was exactly that: a kiss.”
“But- but that kiss is for lovers! We are not lovers!” She protested weakly, gritting her teeth in irritation and clenching her fists at her sides to keep herself from hitting him. Because really, she was extremely tempted to do it— what with that annoyingly perfect smile playing at his lips, and those alluring eyes beckoning her to come closer.
Her chest was heaving with how much effort she had exerted to catch up to him, after having been dumbfounded in the library for a while, and everything in her was screaming at her to get away from him and get closer at once; confusing the hell out of her and making her cheeks flush with both embarrassment and irritation at herself and the situation.
Yet, the sight of her like that drew Kyōjurō in. It was as if she were a siren calling out to him, because before he knew it, he had already taken her in his arms and had her back pinned against his door. All the while, his lips devoured hers hungrily, as if what had transpired days before was not even near enough to have lowered the intensity of his need for her.
As a man who disliked wasting time though, the crown prince immediately picked (Y/n) up by her thighs; making her wrap her legs around his hips while he let both of them into his quarters.
It was a little smaller than the princess’, yet it was just as opulent; fitting for a guest of his status. And also with a bed that was fitting for the things that he planned to do with his captivating lover.
Unceremoniously, both Kyōjurō and (Y/n) fell onto his bed with the former on top— messing up the immaculate sheets, and stirring up the underlying scent that was all Kyō. And (Y/n) would never admit it, but she wouldn’t mind getting to smell something so amazing each night when she went to bed.
With their minds succumbing into a pleasure-addled blank, and their hands seeking more and more of the other’s skin, both of them eventually managed to take most of each others’ clothes off. For once they were able to see each other as close to nude as possible, with both of them merely being clad in their undergarments.
Shoes were strewn on all corners of the bed, clothes were either dangling off the side of the mattress or in a heap on the floor, yet neither of the two royals could keep their hands off of each other. They continued to kiss each other fervently, as if trying to outdo the other and taking it as a challenge to make each other moan even louder.
But Kyōjurō wouldn’t let it idle along for longer; he was a man of action, after all. So, after balancing some of his weight on his left arm, he reached his right hand down to cup (Y/n)’s pussy; letting his fingers spread her lips apart through her panties, before pushing the damp cloth to the side and playing with her clit.
(Y/n) however wasn’t one to be shown up, so she kept up with Kyōjurō’s demanding kisses for a while, before turning her head and letting him focus on her neck and jaw instead. All the while, she raked the nails on her right hand down his chest— leaving red lines on his flawless skin— before snaking her hand into his boxers.
Her fingers immediately circled his thick erection, with her thumb smearing his precum all over the head of his cock, before she began to pump his shaft in time with his fingers circling her clit.
Both of them were too taken up by the other’s pleasurable actions that they couldn’t even be bothered to think even further ahead. What mattered was both of them being blissed out, and both of them cumming eventually.
“You want me to make you cum this time, princess?” Kyōjurō grunted against his lover’s neck, pressing open mouthed kisses to it before sucking a particularly large love bite onto the corner where her neck met her right shoulder.
“Yes, make me cum,” The young woman answered, a little breathless as the fingers on her clit kept playing with her— until they slowly pushed inside her pussy. Only two digits at first, but they were enough to have (Y/n) gasping softly and bucking her hips up in an effort to get more.
The crown prince however, did not like that tone of hers at all. Yet he kept on fingering her cunt as fast as he could— scissoring his fingers to stretch her out wider, and even curling them so he could stimulate her G-spot. “You have to ask me nicer than that.”
Nothing but the sound of (Y/n)’s moans and gasps answered the young man then, yet he kept on thrusting his hand against her; eating up the way that she was trying to deny him what he wanted, while also barely clinging on to that tightly leashed control of hers.
He could feel it in the way she desperately jacked him off too, and just the feeling of her hand alone was enough to get him so close to cumming. Yet, he held himself back since he wanted to cum all over her pussy when he finished.
“Come on, sweetheart. Just ask me nicely and I’ll take you to heaven,” The blond offered softly, adding another finger into the foray and feeling his lover’s legs tense up on either side of him. He then began to pump his hand harder and faster, not minding how it was straining his own control and making it much harder to focus on not cumming in his boxers, but it was a worthy sacrifice because (Y/n) could only gasp and make incoherent squeaks as he did so.
And when he stopped his hand, her eyes flew open and immediately searched for his— shock flooding her experession, before mild irritation had reared its head.
“Just ask and I will deliver, (Y/n),” the use of her name was enough to make shivers race down the princess’ back, yet she still tried to stand her ground. She didn’t want to beg for anything… “I’ll make sure to blow your mind.”
“Make me cum.”
Kyōjurō’s only response was a shake of his head. So, the young woman mulled it over reluctantly and looked at the aforementioned man with a torn expression on her face.
“Please make me cum, Kyōjurō.” And that seemed to abate the prince’s request, since he picked up the pace once more after that— with (Y/n)’s hand only faltering around his cock a couple of times with how pleasurable it was to have him fucking her cunt with his fingers.
And maybe it was because she had been sexually frustrated over the man for so long, that it didn’t even take a while for her to feel that familiar sensation of a climax consuming her. Everything was so warm and fuzzy simultaneously; her chest was tight and her muscles were all tensed up, yet there was only unbearable pleasure coursing through her system— starting small and growing and growing, until she could only cry out in ecstasy as everything snapped.
Kyōjurō soon followed after, yet he couldn’t act fast enough to pull his boxers down. So most of his cum had ended up on (Y/n)’s hand; not that he was complaining about it.
In fact, he greatly appreciated it, because it afforded him the chance of seeing her tiredly pull her hand out of his boxers and shamelessly lick up the trail of semen down the side of her palm.
“Fuck, baby, you’re making me hard all over again.”
The Dimitrescu Ladies and Donna Beneviento with their S/O who is a shapeshifter.
A/N:
The reader can shapeshift into any animal but always chooses cats.
Alcina Dimitrescu / Lady Dimitrescu
You first wandered into the castle as a black cat. Alcina entranced you with her beauty during that one time she visited the village. So you decided to follow her to her home.
You kept observing her behaviors and would just sit around her window every day. After weeks of doing that, you got curious of her castle so you decided to explore.
The first person to see you was Daniela. She squealed as she picked you up and carried you to see her sisters. You didn't try to fight her because you were just chill like that.
The three sisters kept gushing about you for days and you would always shapeshift into your human form in the night.
One day, Alcina walks in on Bela reading to you, and she just smiles as Bela seems so satisfied with you around.
Then she sees Cassandra painting you. And you were just so still? Which can't be normal for a cat. Alcina decided to watch and both you and Cassandra were flushed as she painted you.
Then she catches Daniela just burying her face into your fur so she decides to finally adopt you? Which you sweated at. You're a human. And yes, you've been neglecting stuff from your home since you decided to hang around Castle Dimitrescu but shit. You can't just move and permanently be a cat.
You decided to run away at the last minute before Alcina could even put a collar on you to officially adopt you.
Ever since then, you stopped visiting the Castle. Needless to say, both Alcina and the girls were severely disappointed and whiny about you being gone.
A week after that, you were invited by your cousin who works in the Castle to see if you could work there.
You tried to turn it down but decided not to. Your money is slowly running out after all.
You try to listen to your cousin as she gives you the tour but you can't help it. Everything looks different now that you're actually inside as a human.
You stop at a particular portrait, one that you were fond of even as a cat.
Your cousin tilts her head at your behavior, not only were you not listening but you even point out some things that only servants and the people living inside would know?
You sigh in reply and just followed her.
Two weeks into working at Castle Dimitrescu and you're irritated. You can't shapeshift into anything and it pisses you off.
You decided to turn into a bat so you could sleep outside.
That night, Daniela wanted to sleep with you because despite being new you were oddly already comfortable with them and somehow already knew their preferred stuff.
It was little things that they only knew but you have complied to. Like how Bela wants the books in the library arranged. How Cassandra wants her sickle to be prepared before she would go on a hunt. How Daniela preferred her bed to be made and so on.
Daniela panicked and got her sisters to help find you. They even got your cousin roped in.
Come morning and you change into a human. You go outside your room and tilt your head as everyone is just trying to find something?
You tap your cousin's shoulder and ask what to look for when she shouts then hugs you. Everyone looks over and sighs in relief as they spot you.
"What? What happened?" You ask your cousin when you get tackled by Daniela to the ground.
"You were gone in the middle of the night! Where did you go?" You look at your cousin who nods. Oh.
"I was only outside my room, Miss Daniela." Bela raises an eyebrow at you.
"You weren't. Trust me, we checked everywhere." You sigh and get Daniela off your body. You stand.
"I was. Only I was a bat." They all murmur at your statement and you roll your eyes. Your cousin is smirking because she knew that you could shapeshift and hated that you wanted to hide your ability. You walk slowly then turn into the black cat that the Dimitrescu women had loved and disappeared.
"Blackie!?" "Kitten!?" "Sunny!?" Apparently the three girls had named you already in their head. You nod as a cat and their jaw drops. You change back into your human form.
"I'm sorry I left before but I just couldn't be a cat forever even if I wanted to. Same way I don't want to always be human." You explain. Bela was the first to hug you. Then Cass and Dani followed suit. Even Alcina was looking at you fondly.
The next month is pure chaos. The three girls in one way or another are always with you. It made your work a lot harder, specially since they like to always be touching you in some way.
Sometimes, Daniela and Cassandra would deliberately make a mess just so you would clean it up. Bela is the most helpful one because when she's with you, she's just quiet and like to observe you.
One day, Alcina invites you to dinner with just her. Alcina then realized why her daughters were so comfortable with you.
Occasionally becomes weekly then weekly becomes daily. Before you knew it, Alcina had asked you out on a date.
She wanted to promote or at least not give you any more work but you don't let her.
Your cousin now teases you as you become a blushing mess in front of the Lady Dimitrescu.
When they got a wind of the date, the three girls helped you get ready and even gave you advices to woo their mother.
Your date with Alcina went well and that night you slept with her.
Donna Beneviento
You were hired as a maid alongside your cousin in the Beneviento house. There were only the two of you and your cousin was assigned to be the cook.
So you were assigned to be the cleaner. Cleaning the house was fun, you must admit. Some of the dolls even started to talk to you.
But then you were put in a tough spot. There was a part of the house you can't quite reach. Not even if you put a chair below you. You sigh in defeat so you transform into a cat and carry the duster in your mouth. You were halfway through cleaning when Donna gets inside the room. Angie gets shocked and shouts at you. You, in surprise, drops the duster. So you sigh and jump down.
You transform into a human as you land and Angie's jaw drops. "Is something wrong, Lady Beneviento?" You ask as you get the duster. "Do you need anything?"
"You can transform to a cat!?" Angie gets up in your face and you nod.
"Yes. And any animal if I so desire. But Cats are my favorite so they tend to be the one I always transform to."
"How!?" You rub your neck in embarassement.
"I don't really know myself. It's something that I was born with, I guess?"
Ever since then, Donna would show up randomly while you're cleaning that room, hoping that you'd transform. You understood, specially since she's sometimes just peeking through the door. So when she gets curious, even though you're not cleaning that spot, you transform into a cat. Her gasp and amazed gaze is enough for you to transform.
Your cousin even teases you about it since you generally try to hide being a shapeshifter.
On one of your day offs, you decided to just roam around the house as a cat. Your cousin even snickered and you hissed at her.
Donna spots you just staring at her portrait and she blushes. Why would you stare at that?
You notice her without Angie and just stride up to her. Waiting for her to pet you. She carefully pets your head and you began purring at her. She was surprised at first but petted you more. It's been so long since someone with such gentle hands has touched your fur, after all.
Ever since then, Donna would always pet you and you would always transform when she's near.
One day, in a particularly cold night. You decided to transform into a bear. Donna has decided to seek you out but Angie shouts when she spotted you, a bear. You transform back and look at them. "Is there something wrong?" You ask then yawn. You were just tired and sleepy.
"Can we sleep with you? It's really cold." You nod and open up your blanket. She slips besides you and you immediately hug her.
"Do you mind if I transform into a bear? It'll be warmer for the both of us." She turns to you and nods. You hum and transform again. You hold her tightly and she smiles at your warmth and the way you make her feel safe.
Ever since then, Donna sneaks in your bedroom when it's cold.
One day, she finally decides to confess to you and ask you out on a date. You accept and hug her.
And slowly but surely, as you and Donna become more like a couple, you would transform into other animals while she would be amazed every time.
Bela Dimitrescu
You were a maiden about to be hunted but you transformed as Bela was upon you. So instead of human you. A black cat was severely injured. She gasps in horror and quickly brings you to the castle.
She gets help from the grand chambermaid who quickly stitches your wounds and bandages you up. Bela is by your side when you wake up. You can't even stretch your body or move it that much since everything just hurts.
Bela wakes up and you pretend to fall asleep. She leaves and you sigh in relief. She comes back with food and water for you, you think. Since it was Tuna. You wake up and get to the plate of food. You grab a bite and Bela sighs in relief.
"I'm so sorry." She apologizes but you pay her no mind as you devour the food. Food can help your regenerative abilities after all. You can already feel your body patching itself up as you eat the last fish. You eye the water and Bela quickly puts it in front of you and removes the plate now devoid of food. You sigh in relief as you quench your thirst.
If you're honest, the healing only took a day to happen because Bela gave you so much food. But you wanted to stay at the Mystical Castle first before going back to a normal life in the village.
Bela is typically with you, going so far as she can for you. She doesn't even let Cassandra or Daniela near you since she's afraid they'll hurt you as well.
When you explored the library, Bela had this look on her eyes and you realize that she must be missing reading. So you get to a book just sitting on a sofa and open it.
"Do you want me to read to you?" Bela asks as she sits besides you. You meow in response and she smiles as she opens the book. Her voice was so calming and before you knew it, you'd fallen asleep.
After an hour of sleep though, you began transforming since you've been in your cat form for too long. And there you were, the maiden that Bela was supposed to be hunting. The maiden that was supposed to be bound, not a black cat.
"So it was you." She hums as she caresses your face. "I thought I made a mistake."
"Are you going to kill me now?" You ask as you sit. You sigh in defeat. "Thanks for the food, I guess. And for taking care of me for the past few days. Few people would do that for a stray cat that's injured."
"I injured you." You shrug.
"Some people would just leave or even finish the job." You sigh. "I've seen too many cruel people in the city before. It's one of the reasons why I moved out here in the village."
"You're from the city?" She asks curiously and scoots closer to you. You nod then begin telling her all sorts of things.
How things are done so differently here than there. How people burn themselves out. How cruelty can make you numb.
How you were originally just wanting to take a break but everything about the village was too enticing to pass. So you stayed here and the villagers welcomed you with open arms. But now you're savings are almost depleted and you don't know anything to do other than some basic life skills.
Bela convinces Alcina to hire you as a maid. You move in the Castle and your quarters is the closest one to Bela.
When you would clean around the castle, Bela is right behind you, either to assist you or just observe quietly.
Cassandra and Daniela have teased her about her obsession with you but she didn't care. She just wanted to gaze at you more.
One day, you were tasked with cleaning the roof and she was there even though it was cold. You got her inside for her own protection. So Bela borrowed Alcina's opera glasses to look at you. You actually transformed into different animals to reach most of the spots and just generally had fun.
She scheduled you to be put on the roof more. She joined you once it was the summer and she laughs as you keep transforming.
Your first kiss happened one night. You were just tired and kept nodding off as Bela read a book. She closes the book and lifts you up. She carries you to your own room. She tucks you in and was about to leave when she looks back. She whispers a good night and kisses you on the forehead.
"That's it?" You ask and Bela freezes as she opens her eyes. You sigh and pull her closer to give her a proper kiss.
Cassandra Dimitrescu
You were just another maid in the Castle. Another to be either tortured or played with by Cassandra. But somehow, the girl has always had a soft spot for you.
Maybe because you were actually complying to some of her requests. Some harder than others.
Maybe because you don't flinch when you hear her surprise you. Or the way you catch her before she could even surprise you.
Maybe because unlike most people, you actually show genuine interest in her paintings.
Maybe because you're the one who reads stories to her. The one who is patient enough to get through her sarcastic comments and snide remarks.
Maybe.
You were on your day off when Cassandra decided to follow you. What could her favorite possibly do on a day you were supposed to be relaxing?
She raised an eyebrow as you stop in front of a large tree. You then transform into a cat and her jaw drops as you climb the large tree. You stretch your whole body before plopping down and sleeping.
She looks up at you and she goes back to the castle to get some snacks to wait for you to wake up. You spent five hours just sleeping in your cat form before landing down. Cassandra hums as she sees you transform back into a human.
She takes notes of all the things you do. The trinkets you buy from the Duke. Food that you seem to savor.
Next day, you find a gift on your bedside drawer. It was freshly picked flowers since you always stop for a moment when you pass some. It even has a note.
So you could smell some flowers everyday.
It has no initials on it but you smiled as you recognized the handwriting.
Since then, Cassandra would give you some things here and there while you were more attentive to her. You were even smiling more than ever.
When she gives you a plate of Tuna that made you laugh. So she knew.
That day you completed your work much faster and was let go by the grand chambermaid much earlier than usual.
You decided to surprise Cassandra in your cat form by waiting for her to get inside her quarters. She squeals then just hugs you. You laugh as you both just have fun through the night.
She falls asleep while holding you and you fall asleep listening to her heartbeat.
Since then there was just an understanding with you and Cassandra.
More time were spent together. Things were given. Stories are exchanged.
The officiality didn't come for a long time but when she kisses you, that's when you knew. She'd fallen for you. Just like you'd fallen for her.
Daniela Dimitrescu
You were actually a showy shapeshifter. Everyone in the village knew you that you could turn into any animal but always chooses to be a cat.
She was passing the village with the other ladies of the Dimitrescu Castle when she sees you transform. She squeals and runs up to you. She carries you and presents you to Alcina.
"Mother can we keep-"
"Darling, no-"
"But she can transform into a human!" All of them look at you expectantly and you sigh as you free yourself then transform.
"Oh, it's you, Y/N." Alcina actually knew you as the Duke's assistant/business partner with your connections. You bow to her as a greeting.
"Lady Dimitrescu. Is this your lovely daughters?" She nods and you smile. "May I know their names?"
"This is Bela. Cassandra and Daniela." You smile at Daniela then take her hand. You kiss it then wink.
"A most fitting name to a dashing young lady." Alcina rolls her eyes at you because you can be such a flirt.
"Well, we best be going now, Y/N." You bow in acknowledgement.
"May I visit more often now, Lady Dimitrescu?" Alcina sighs. Because even though you're not quite annoying, you are persistent. A stubborn one, just like her.
"You may do as you please." You thank her for that and watch them as they leave.
For the next coming days, you visit Castle Dimitrescu more often. Just so you could see Daniela, chat with her or just observe her.
You could tell that she craves stories more than anything so you do your best to read more books so you could see her face light up as you tell her new stories.
You even began writing some new ones just so she would be happy.
One day, while you were waiting for Daniela. You fell asleep and transformed into a cat. You try not to visit her in this form so she would like you more as a human, not just with your abilities.
You wake up on top of Daniela, still in your cat form. You smile as you get back to sleep. Alcina sighs as she catches you two on that position but she decides to leave you both alone.
You wake up with Daniela humming and reading besides you. You were back to being human.
"Lady Daniela?" You yawn. "How long have I fallen asleep?"
"Six hours. You transformed into a cat." You hum.
"I tend to do that when I haven't transformed into something else for too long."
"Oh. Why?" You shrug at the question. Even you don't know the extent nor rules of your ability. "Don't you want to find out more?" You shake your head.
"I tend to not look at my ability as a research but rather a fun ability." You two talk about your abilities and actually have fun comparing them.
One day, your visits stopped. You were on a business trip, Alcina informed Daniela. Something about a new connection being built.
Daniela keeps glancing at the gates every time she hears it opening, hoping it was you.
It took you three excruciatingly long weeks to close a deal. Duke was so proud of you but you just glare at him.
He surrenders as you walk past him and transform into a panther. You quickly run to the Dimitrescu Castle. You find Daniela sleeping in the library and smile. You transform into a cat and get on top of her then sleep.
Daniela wakes up then hugs you. She prepares food for you then wait for you to wake up. Which wasn't long since you were actually hungry. You eat the plate of fish and purr at her. She laughs as she pets you while you eat.
Since then, you two would spend more time together, you would even sometimes help Daniela with hunting when you transform into a tiger.
She asks you out on a date in a very romantic way. With your food shaped like the letters. Date?
It made you laugh and you accepted it. You didn't actually think she would make the first move but she did.
One day, you just plopped down your suitcase full of clothes in front of Alcina.
"Let me move in and I'll be helping with the wine business and Duke." She immediately accepted because that's two things that can be a source of a headache for her.
You decided to move in Daniela's room with no announcement, she just found all of your clothes in her room and you sleeping on her bed with just a note on her drawer.
-I moved in. Hope you don't mind.-
And she didn't mind. Not at all.
A/N:
I just really love cats.
This one took longer than usual?
Still writing on my phone because my sibling is hogging the laptop. Damn it.
Anyway.
Thoughts and Comments are always welcome!
An Instant Bond
Alcina was skeptical the experiment would even work. But she couldn't have been more happy that it did. Or: The daughters wake up for the first time and Alcina instantly loves them.
Wholesome Content for once
-----------
Alcina let out a hum as she strolled through the castle halls, the only noise besides her heels echoing off the walls was the harsh winds outside. It had been a particularly arduous day for the Lady of House Dimitrescu. The “family” meeting had run on longer than expected, all because Heisenberg insisted on starting an argument over body counts. Again. She swore that man would have been dead years ago if Mother Miranda didn’t insist on keeping him around. She hardly understood why, it wasn’t as if he was doing anything to benefit their cause besides making disgusting, mindless, animals in that dingy factory of his. None of her “siblings” did as much as she did for their little “family”, the others were hardly needed. Would it really make a difference to get rid of them?
Then again, who was she to judge Mother Miranda’s decisions? It mattered little either way. Alcina was sure she was the favourite of the four. Why else would she have been granted the castle? The vineyard? The everlasting life? The…
The girls.
She had nearly forgotten to check on them. It had been close to a week since Miranda had laid out the bodies on cold slabs for Alcina to observe and in that short amount of time they had been covered in swarms of flies and other bugs. It was a fascinating thing to witness, more so when they had started to change in colour, and while she was still a little skeptical if this process was going to work at all, it made for interesting research. The worst case scenario was that they would just be another batch of mindless zombies, only this time sensitive to the cold.
It came as a surprise when she entered the room they had been placed within the library and found not a writhing mass of insects, but three intact bodies. Almost as if they hadn’t been consumed by flies and roaches for the past six days. The only notion anything had changed was the hair colour. Rather than three brunettes, the eldest one’s hair had become a pale blonde and the youngest’s had turned almost auburn. Even the middle girl’s had taken a darker tone. As if they were completely different people. Alcina grabbed her note book.
“Six days since treatment;
The mass of insects have transformed into human bodies again.”
She looked back over to the girls, faces lit up by the setting sun, and briefly wondered how long it would take them to wake. If they would even wake at all. It would be a shame to have gone through all this trouble for nothing, but she had seen experiments fail before for the slightest reasons. Curious, she approached the table for a closer look at the three. For what seemed like corpses, they certainly looked peaceful.
The thought of if they would have pulses suddenly occurred to her, a rather arbitrary though, but she gently pressed two fingers to the middle girl’s neck anyway. There was... something, though it felt much more like bugs crawling beneath the flesh than an actual heartbeat.
Then, the girl’s eyes snapped open, and Alcina jerked back out of surprise. There was silence as the brunette blinked, squinting at the light, and Alcina was equally as surprised when the other two slowly followed suit. One by one they would blink a few times, then push themselves up into a sitting position before looking at themselves, then each other, then the room, and finally all eyes were set on Alcina. They didn’t seem to remember her, or where they were, or much of anything by the looks of it. Their expressions were filled with nothing but curiosity and confusion, almost like a newborn baby.
Alcina swallowed, the blonde brought her knees up to her chest, the brunette rubbed one of her eyes, and the redhead tilted her head to the side and was the first one to break the silence.
“M… Mama?” She asked innocently, and Alcina’s heart melted.
She was never given the chance to have children of her own before, but now….
“Yes, my little one.” She replied in a soft tone, gently brushing the hair from the redhead and brunette’s faces. They leaned into her touch, while the blonde still seemed to eye her like a cautious kitten from behind a mess of hair. “I am your mother. And I love you all very much.” The two younger girls practically purred as they nuzzled into her.
“Mama.” They both hummed as Alcina focused on the third.
She took a hand off the redhead, though it didn’t stop the girl from pushing her head into her side, and outstretched it to the eldest. “Don’t be shy, my dear.” She coaxed. “Come to mother.”
The blonde girl stared for a moment, then crawled closer, putting her hands around Alcina’s wrist before pressing her cheek against the leather of Alcina’s glove. She didn’t say anything, but gave a content smile at the touch and momentarily closed her eyes.
“My three beautiful daughters….” Alcina mused, more for herself than anything. They stared up at her, eyes wide and filled with curiosity. She’d only known them for only a handful of minutes, and already she had fallen in love with them.
They spent the rest of their first day alive following her around like puppies. She’d given them baths, laughing when the younger two protested the idea while the eldest watched on, wrapped in a towel, provided them each with a set of her old clothes she had grown far too big for, and fed them plates of human remains that they devoured like animals. Once things had settled and it was well into the night, the girls began to yawn, the two younger girls muttering “Sleepy” and “Tired” as they held Alcina’s dress. She had set up rooms for them in advance, but they insisted on staying with her. And how could she say no when they were looking up at her, eyes half closed, like sleepy little angels.
She wouldn't.
She couldn’t.
And that was how she ended up in bed with them snuggling into her, peacefully sleeping while she scribbled one last thing in her note book.
“The girls awoke, and looked at me like newborns. I sense a bond between us, like mother and daughters.
I have already decided their names: Bela, Daniela, and Cassandra.”
She set the book aside, and gave each girl a kiss on the head. They barely stirred, and for the second time Alcina thought of how peaceful they looked.
For as long as she had any say, she would never let anything happen to her beloved daughters.
Traitor Pt 3 (Final)
Hello everyone!
So happy that you guys liked my little story, i am hoping to write much more in the future. So please let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to read. Here is pt3 and last part of the Traitor fic. There is a 'prequel' and it is very angsty, if you guys want that as well let me know.
Enjoy!
It had been three days, three days without seeing Azriel. He didn't show to practice, neither he looked for her in the library.
Coward, coward, coward
She was so mad, how was saying sorry so hard for him?
Or was he embarrassed that he lost to her? no, Azriel would never be embarrassed about that. He was just too afraid to face her.
Or maybe he didn't care, maybe he wanted to fix things with Elain and not her.
Yeah, that might be the answer.
That afternoon Nesta had asked her to come over to the house of wind and stay over with her while Cassian was away in a mission. She climbed the stairs of the library, while preparing to be in the same house as Azriel.
He was not talking to her, fine, she would not talk to him.
Nesta was waiting for her at the door, "please don't kill me, please, please". She said while grabbing Gwyns bags, "my sisters came over for dinner and have not left, i can kick them out but we have to wait a bit for Rhysand to leave Nyx at Amren's"
She smiled
Perfect this night has started perfectly.
"Of course, yeah no problem."
They arrived at the room, and Gwyn felt panic rising to her throat at the sight of the middle Archeron sister. She was probably pissed at Gwyn for all that had happened, she probably hated Gwyn because of it.
"Hi Gwyn!" said Feyre.
"Feyre" she bowed, "thank you for having me".
Elain looked at her, smiled, and kept talking to Feyre.
Well, that's better than the slap she had expected.
She sat besides Nesta and prayed that her High Lord would come soon.
------
An hour past, and the four women were tangled in a conversation about wine when a knock came at the door.
Gwyn felt a tug at her chest; he is here it seemed to say.
Fuck.
"Im sorry to interrupt ladies" a breathy voice said, " i am here for my high lady and her sister". She turned around and faced the male speaking, he wore rather casual clothing compared to the illyrian leathers. His black tight shirt and cargo black pants accentuated his muscles, and his hair was messier than usual.
His eyes landed on hers, and his slight smirk fell.
Oh, great. I'm not happy to see you either, she thought.
Elain stood and quickly walked towards Azriel, but he did not break Gwyns stare; not even while he grabbed the arms of both women and they said bye to Nesta and her.
He looked at Nesta, "is this... a sleep over?" he said softly.
"yes, and you are very much not invited" Nesta responded.
He smirked, "ill be back" he looked at Gwyn.
"Don't leave" he said.
She looked away.
"Please" he said to her, his voice pained and desperate.
And with that, he left.
Nesta smiled and crossed her arms. "You planned this didn't you?" Gwyn asked her sister, "mhm, he helped me get a mate i help him find the balls to talk to you" she answered.
-----------
Gwyn was not one for drinking, but waiting for Azriel to come had made her so anxious that she had considered asking the house for Cassian's oldest bottle of Whiskey to drink it all by herself. Instead, she had been served a big, fat piece of chocolate cake; accompanied by water.
Nesta was in front of her, watching with admiration as Gwyn devoured the cake.
Mother, she loved chocolate.
The tug at her heart began once more, the feeling of comfort and hurt that Azriel brought upon her growing as the seconds flew by.
"He is here" she whispered to Nesta, "I am not ready to face him".
"He is not ready to face you" she answered.
A soft knock came at the door, and the creak of the wooden door was the most terrifying thing Gwyn had ever heard.
"Shadowsinger" Nesta said, "you are just on time". Nesta stood, grabbed Gwyns hand and squeezed it softly, "i need to go fix some paperwork for Cassian, could you please stay with Gwyn while i come back?"
Really Nesta? Thanks.
"Sure, thank you" he answered.
-----------
She did not feel Nesta leaving, neither she looked up to see where Azriel stood in the room. Her hands had become the most entertaining thing in the world at that moment, and nothing would change that.
"Gwyn" he called.
She felt him getting closer, and it took all her will not to jump to his arms.
He stopped, "please, look at me".
"No" she said, "you don't get to demand for me to stay, for me to talk to you, for me to look at you".
Cauldron was he clueless, did he not have a sense of communication?
He is trying, the voice of her heart seemed to say.
"I know that, but... I need... I need to see your eyes" Azriel said. Slowly, she felt him kneel in front of her; not too close as to startle her, but close enough that she could feel the smell of night-chilled mist and cedar filling her nose.
"May i touch you?" He said, stretching his hand towards her.
Yes, please
She only nodded softly.
His hands grabbed her chin and lifted it to face him. "There you are" he smiled, "there they are". His eyes looked deeply into hers, as if he was trying to memorize each feature in them; he seemed... desperate to memorize her. As if what he was about to say would make her disappear from his side forever.
" I have a whole speech prepared" Azriel said, "but i don't think you're the type to want to hear rehearsed words, so let me give it a try..."
Quieter than she had ever heard him, Azriel began " I have always been alone, the shadows and the dark being my best friends..."
"I only knew friendship and love when Rhys opened his home to me; but even as my brothers and i grew, i still felt alone.... empty. I longed for something that would be entirely mine, something that no one else would share, something i would never have to part with." His voice breaking, Azriel inhaled and tucked his hands in his pockets.
"I met Mor when she was very young, she was such a happy girl; always teasing and playing, always happy even with the shitty family she was born into. She lightened my days, she gave me a reason to wake up in the morning; i began to love her before i expected" his voice filled with pain he said, "and i loved her for five hundred years..."
"I thought she had to be my mate, because no one else would make me as happy as her; and i waited for five hundred years for the mating bond to click. Disregarding her feelings, her insecurities and fears; i pushed my feelings down her throat, hoping she would pity me enough to give me a chance".
His confession broke her. What kind of thoughts went through the mind of this beautiful man to say anything like that?
"Meeting Elain was different, i was finally able to help someone as broken as me. I had a purpose beyond violence. I looked forward to sharing time with her, i wanted push her to be better, to forget about that undeserving human boy" He continued, "once she began to get better, i realized that i was not the only thing grounding her. Her sisters, the wraiths, gardening, and even her mate gave her courage to keep going. And i am so selfish, selfish enough to begin loving her; demanding from her what she is not ready to give".
"The winter solstice that i tried to give her the necklace, i did it out of a desire for her to be mine. My thoughts were never about how much i loved and admired her, but rather that i deserved Elain, that three brothers and three sisters made more sense than what the cauldron had chosen".
Gwyn shuttered, her heart squeezing lightly at the words coming from his mouth.
"But i realized long ago, that Elain deserves to choose her own path; neither Lucien nor me are entitled to her, she should be master of her own destiny" He said, no pain noticeable in his voice. "I had to let go, for my sake, my court's sake; but most importantly, for her".
"I could tell you more about my mistakes, and i will, but i have to explain why i gave that necklace to you." He moved closer to her, their knees touching. "That night, Gwyn, the conversation we had made my heart sing; you changed my mood so quickly, and you didn't even know it. You looked, so free, so competitive, so happy".
"Then, after i left that night, i realized that i wanted to see your smile again; so i left the necklace to Clotho and asked her to bring you some joy in that lonely solstice night. And my mind pictured your smile once you received that necklace. The selfish being that i am, has kept that memory in my heart; selfishly locked away so that no one will steal it from me" He smiled and looked into her eyes, "and then you kept showing me so many surprising sides of you. No one challenges me to better as you do, no one wants to see me bite dust as you do. No one is interested in what i think about coffee, or what my favorite mystery novel is. You have heard my voice more time than anyone before."
"You have showed me many times that you're my only match Gwyn".
He paused, as if the words weighted on his heart as much as they weighted on hers.
"You are my best friend, the person i admire the most in the world. I admire your courage, your patience, your perseverance, your happiness. I love the way you show love to your friends. I love how much of a fierce warrior you are. And even though i made a mistake by re-gifting the necklace, i could not think of anyone that deserves to be pampered and loved as much as you"
He stopped, inhaled and touched the top of her hands.
The happiest feeling crept into her heart, her feelings were not one sided.
He saw her.
She saw him.
But his eyes did not show the happiness she expected, not did they show the same desire that burned deep in her.
They showed fear, sadness, longing.
"But with all that i have said, i know i don't deserve you. I have hurt everyone I've ever loved, i have always been so selfish. I have been looking for a bond so desperately that i was blind to what i had right in front of me..."-"I have avoided confronting my fears of being alone, of facing my nightmares and acknowledging how much of a monster i can be. When i look at you, how much you have given me; i regret every moment i have not spent loving you".
He moved his hands away from hers, looked at them and shuttered.
She realized then, unlike her, his biggest fears and insecurities were visible for everyone to see. He hated his hands, he believed them to be the proof of his monstrosity.
He did not know how wrong he was.
Finally, after what felt like eternity he said, " i am sorry Gwyn, i have not been the man you deserve; and i will forever regret that i lost you before i ever had you."
Tears falling down her cheeks, Gwyn grabbed his hands and placed them in her face. How much courage had those words taken? How much courage had even touching her taken?
"Az... you're so blind" she responded with a sob. She turned her face to his hands and placed a slight kiss inside of his hands, "these hands saved me, they are so precious... you are so precious to me"
She looked into his eyes, "i was hurt because i wanted.... i wanted you to be honest with me"
"I thought the necklace had meant that you thought of me" she smiled sadly, "for the first in my life i thought someone had chosen me, someone had thought of me first".
He looked away sadly, "i know that, and i am sorry".
She interrupted him, " I lied when i said i never wore it, i wore it every day, every hour" she laughed softly and grabbed the empty space in her neck that once held her necklace, "i even bathed with it".
He smiled. And damn if she wanted to kiss him now even more than ever.
"Once i found out it had been you who had gifted it to me, i ... finally was able to confirm my feelings towards you" Gwyn confessed. "I knew i fell in love with you the moment in the training ring when you admitted you had given the necklace to me."
Was she really saying this?
Yes
She closed her eyes and talked before her courage disappeared.
"Azriel i am in love with you" she breathed, "i fell in love with the man saw the darkness in me, and did not run away. The one that taught me to fight my nightmares way. The one that listened to me ramble about the silliest things. The one that made an effort to open his heart to me, and answered every question i asked him" she laughed. "After the first night on the training ring; i knew you would be my best friend, my confidant. Once i shared more and more nights with you, i couldn't stay away... i can't stay away from you"
Placing his hands in her chest she said, "i love you, all of you; the spy, the friend, the brother, the shadowsinger"
She didn't dare to look deeply into his eyes, afraid of what feelings laid beneath them.
"You are my center, you are my hope, my ladder to keep climbing up the pit of darkness my mind is. I will never be enough for you; for the pure and innocent heart you have. But if you give me a chance, i will treasure you for eternity". Tears scrolled down her face as she spoke, "I am not you mate, nor i am what you were looking for. But i will fight beside you every step of the way, because you more than anyone deserves happiness".
There. I said it.
She took her hands away from his, looked down and waited.... Waited for him to stand and leave, to laugh and mock her.
But he didn't.
He kneeled there, in front of her.
Shocked
Happy
.... Happy
He was happy; in fact, he seemed joyous.
A grin emerged in the male's face, bigger and brighter than she had never seen before.
Grabbing her hand, he pulled them up.
There they were, facing each other; looking deeply into each other's eyes when Azriel said: "the one that does not deserve you is me". He came closer to her, grabbed her waist and pulled her body towards his "my best friend, my love. I want you to be my entire world Gwyn".
He smiled and pulled a strand of hair behind her ear. His face coming even closer to hers, "i am not worthy of your confession, your heart, much less your body". His nose touched hers, "but give me a chance, i will treasure you until the end of times".
She smiled, nodded and closed her eyes.
Warmth filled her body as Azriel's lips closed upon hers. Soft, warm and gentle. Moving in a pace that would not startle her, he grabbed her neck to pull her even closer to him. He took his time to explore her mouth, kissing every corner. "Thank you Gwyn, for choosing me" he said, "i have found my light where i never thought looking". He kissed her nose, her forehead and her lips. "Now that i have you" he said, not leaving an inch of space between their mouths, "i will never leave you".
-------
As they kissed, something golden and long appeared in Gwyns mind, her chest seemed to swollen at the sight of it. The golden string settling in front of her and pulling her to reality.
She flinched at the same time Azriel did.
Their eyes meeting once again.
And right there, she knew...
"Mate" they said.
Only You ~ Rowaelin
A Rowaelin fanfic, set if Aelin’s parents had lived and she had met Rowan under normal circumstances, if Erawan and Maeve weren’t threats. Hope you enjoy!
Chapter One
Prologue: The Night Before
The moon was high in the sky as Aelin made her way through the palace courtyard and towards the river that ran beyond. It was well past the time anyone would be out here. She was confident in her abilities at keeping hidden as she strolled down the path and stopped as she reached the waters edge.
In the winter she wouldn’t even hesitate at crossing the river. Terrasen winters were harsh and bitterly cold. Parts of the river where it flowed slowly would freeze over from mid-December until February. But it was September, and that meant the water was running freely; so Aelin had no choice but to jump in and swim quickly across. If it wasn’t for her fire magic that was able to dry her off within seconds, she would hate that crossing more.
She checked behind her, ensuring no one was following and quickly made off into the night.
The walk from the palace into the city itself was not long if you were taking the normal route. For Aelin, she would have to go the long way round; traipsing through thick brush and woodland to reach the edge of the city.
After too many scrapes and close encounters with the ground she saw the distant lights of the city. As she entered the city walls themselves she marvelled at the white stone buildings and the way they glowed in the moonlight, the streetlights flickering in the shadows. It was louder here, the taverns only just opening for the night. A group of Fae stumbled down the street, arm in arm, laughing at each other.
Aelin knew she was privileged, to live in a palace, to have maids and cooks and cleaners. She was happy there, with her family. But sometimes, when she would sneak off to see Sam, she wished she could have a life like this; a life of freedom, to do what she wanted whenever she wanted. The stolen moments with Sam were ones she cherished.
She approached the large store front, a dark wooden sign hanging above the door reading Little Library of Orynth. The real library of Orynth sat above the city, it’s walls protected with magic to ward off any unwanted attention. And whilst Aelin loved that library, she came to find the old librarians there to be too strict, too stuffy, to fully enjoy the books they held.
She had found Sam’s library years ago; when it was not Sam’s library. Her father had taken her there to browse the collection of romance books which were not available elsewhere. Since then, she had come back more times than she could remember.
Sam had always been there, in the shadows of the towering shelves and the dusty books. It hadn’t been until she was eighteen and Sam twenty that they had crossed paths properly. They had bonded over their mutual love for a series of books and had continued from there. It had been two years and every moment she had with Sam was precious.
She gave a few gentle taps on the oak door and waited. It was only a few seconds later when Sam was there, a smile on his face, dust covering his clothes and his hair messy. His classic look.
“You really need a haircut.” She grinned at him and placed a kiss on his cheek.
“And you really need to learn time management.” He kissed her right back and pulled her into the darkened library.
“I was trying to get away sooner, but Aedion was complaining about his new training—“ she trailed off. “You don’t need to hear about Aedion’s boring life.”
She grabbed the lapels of his jacket and pulled him closer. She took in his scent, old books, leather and a faint hint of lavender, before bringing her lips to his own.
She lost herself in the softness of his lips, the way he caressed her head as she leaned into him. Her hands found his hair and slid through the messy locks.
Sam broke away first, his hand finding her own, and slipping his fingers through hers. “I have a treat for you.”
“I hope it’s chocolate. Kasper has me on a diet.” Kasper was her trainer, and he had put her on a new diet, to try and curb her appetite for sweets.
Sam laughed. “Kasper can try, but we both know you will not be stopped when it comes to chocolate.” He continued walking, up the stairs and into the apartment above the library. It was rare to find somewhere like this in the city. Most buildings would house two or three shops over several stories; people’s homes were found just outside of the city walls, tucked away amongst the foothills of the Staghorns. Sam had been lucky. The old man who had owned this place before him had converted the floors above into a large, airy apartment. The ceilings were high, dark oak beams jutted across the ceilings, the walls a light beige, and the floor an old herringbone design, worn with years of footsteps. There were little touches of Sam dotted around; a painting he had purchased on a trip to the Southern Continent, a large rug which Aelin had bought him for his birthday. Scattered amongst his things were her own. Books, shirts, a hairbrush which perched on the mantle. She could imagine living here with him, and sometimes it hit her that none of this was permanent, that her love with Sam would one day have to end.
“It’s not much, but I found it when I was digging through some old trunks of books I found.”
Aelin snapped away from her thoughts and looked towards Sam who was holding a badly wrapped book. She took it from his hands, turning it over, shaking it to check that it wasn’t, in fact, chocolate.
“What’s the occasion?” She sat on the sofa, tucking her legs beneath her.
“Does there have to be an occasion for me to get the woman I love a gift?” She blushed at the words. It was still felt foreign to her, the concept of love, and the idea that she was in love with Sam and he with her. And every time he said he loved her, it would fill her with a warmth that she couldn’t describe.
She hastily unwrapped the book and her breath caught in her throat. “Sam… this is—“ she opened the cover. “This is too much.”
“I saw it and immediately thought of you. It’s from Eyllwe. I remembered you used to have a friend from there and you had always said—“
“I love it, Sam. Thank you.” She swept her fingers over the patterns and ridges of the leather, admiring the detail in the small book. The fact he had remembered Nehemia, that he had remembered what she had meant to Aelin… her heart swelled.
She didn’t know what to say, so she showed him instead. Slowly peppering kisses along his jaw, lower.
And lower.
He moaned at the feel of her. A sound that sparked something within. The lazy touches became faster as they both raced to take the others clothes off first; which were hastily thrown to the floor, neither caring where they landed. They were wrapped in each other’s embrace, their mouths moving together, Sam’s soft hands caressing her curves leaving warmth wherever he touched. Her breath was heavy as she let Sam pull her across the room, never straying too far from the other.
They were moving towards the bed; groans mixed into the frantic kisses, their touches fevered and rough as they made up for the two weeks apart. But Sam was gentle as he laid her on the mattress, his eyes devouring her. She heated at his touch, as he showed her all the ways he had missed her.
And when they lay there later, Sam’s head on her shoulder, his fingers trailing patterns along her skin, she didn’t think she could want anything more than she did right then.
The two of them dozed on and off, until Aelin’s stomach growled. Sam huffed a laugh at the sound. But neither of them made to move, they stayed wrapped in each others arms for a while longer. Sam was the first to break the silence.
“Run away with me.” Aelin balked at the invitation. Turning her head to look at Sam. He was looking back at her. “I know it’s insane; but just listen…”
He stood from the bed, rummaging to find some pants. Aelin watched his movements as he made around the room gathering up papers and books, before he laid them on the bed in front of her. “I’ve done my research. We could head to the Southern Continent and with the money I have saved and the inheritance from Terrance I can buy us a house with enough land for horses, enough room to raise children. It would be perfect, and the Southern Continent is beautiful, I know you would love it, Aelin.” Of course she would love it. And she was sure she would love the life that Sam was proposing, but in her soul she knew that it was a dream, one that would likely never be able to come true. She hated to ruin the bliss they had been in, hated the look on Sam’s face as he saw her hesitation. She shook her head once, clearing her mind, trying to think of the easiest way to say that his dream would always be a dream. But the words didn’t come.
Sam spoke again, “I know it’s insane. And you would be giving up a lot, I know. But there are other people who can take the throne Aelin.” He took her hands in his, eyes wide with excitement. “People have given it up for less.”
“What of my family, Sam?” Aelin stood then, grabbing the clothes that were strewn across the floor. “I love you Sam; you know that. But it’s one thing for me to be sneaking around with you here in Orynth, but to runaway from here completely?” She shook her head. “I could not do that to my family… to my kingdom.” Sam’s face fell, she saw the defeat in his features. “Is it not enough that we have each other right now?”
“Of course it is. But then what happens when you have to marry, when you have to produce heirs for the throne?” This had been a conversation she had wanted to avoid at all costs. She would be expected to marry, and her family would certainly not let her marry Sam. There was also the other small problem of her immortality. “We pretend that everything is perfect, we have our stolen nights, and we ignore the dark cloud that has been over us since we began this thing.”
“Can we not do this now? Please.” Aelin put on her shoes. “I have to go. Guests are arriving tomorrow and I need some sleep.”
“So we’re not going to talk about this?” He looked so hurt, so devastated at her leaving.
“Not tonight.” She kissed his cheek. “I’ll see you soon.”
And then she was gone.
some kind of loud, attention grabbing noise that lets you know ITS FIC TIME, BABYYYYY you could start here, but the context... the build up.. the hours of worldcrafting, you'd miss it all... so start here, instead, then circle back.
These last two weeks have actually been nice. She and Adam had both mutually agreed that, despite not being the kind of person either of them would intentionally seek out on their own, Beetlejuice (she still has a hard time believing that’s what BJ stands for, but okay,) is fun. Not just fun, but funny, and seemingly often in the mood to laugh, in that overblown, Vincent Price horror movie way he does, which earns him multiple shushes in the library.
Drama club has gotten better. Barbara has a private theory that what most people need is to just get used to BJ, to spend enough time with him that he stops looking like an outsider, and it’s coming true, slowly, but finally. BJ had mentioned off-handedly he played ukulele, and when the other kids had expressed interest, he’d brought it with him the next day... Though she’s not quite sure where he kept it, the entire day. She’s seen that mess of a locker he’s got. She doubts it fits in there. And it can’t have been in his backpack, either, because every time he sets it down, she can hear what sounds like glass and rocks settling. She’s even seen him, after school, pick up a rock and shove it in one of the pockets. She has to assume his bag weighs a hundred pounds, or so.
His instrument, almost predictably, was painted with black and white stripes, but he’d played the little thing like a pro. She had never taken him for someone who enjoyed the mellow, soft sounds the ukulele was known for, but clearly, she doesn’t know enough about the boy. Miss Larson, the drama instructor, had clapped, and learned that BJ could read music, too. “Maybe while we’re practicing, you can accompany us?” She’d asked, clearly trying to work a way into getting more participation out of their newest member. BJ had been flustered, but had agreed, easily.
The wildest thing had been hearing him sing. They’d moved from being in the drama room, most days, to being in the auditorium, working on lines and practicing their singing. No one’s been officially cast, yet, but it’s mostly to get used to being on stage. Miss Larson had insisted that BJ sing a few lines for them, and he’d sort of made a face, ducked backstage, and had appeared with his ukulele in hand. Barbara didn’t even know he’d put it back there.
“Uh, so, sing what?” He’d shuffled awkwardly, and Miss Larson had smiled. “Whatever you feel,” to which BJ just snorted, and rolled his eyes, but then he plucked a few notes on his ukulele, and started to sing.
“There’s a camp, there’s a camp, by the frozen lake, wa wa ooh. With every belly starving and every finger numb, but up on the hill there’s a red, red rum, somebody’s always cooking something in the lean-to.”
It wasn't a song she’d recognized, but it was clearly morbid. She shouldn’t have expected anything different. The real focal point was his voice, his strange, scratchy pitch, because despite sounding like he gargles sandpaper and nails, he’s got a strong, clear tone, one that carries well, and as he sings, he doesn’t hit a single sour note. She also noted that his enunciation is much clearer when he’s singing, oddly enough. He sang as much as he decided he needed to, and clung to his ukelele as he finished, like a lifeline. “So. Yeah.” He’d said, and then flinched when the clapping started, from all members present, but especially her and Adam. He’d stood looking around at them all, utterly baffled.
“You didn’t tell us you would sing!” Jeremiah, the student director, was the one who looked the most enthused, and BJ balked. “Didn’t think it mattered. M’just gonna be a stagehand.. Right?”
“Maybe he could play the dentist?” Miss Larson had looked at Jeremiah, and they’d begun talking amongst themselves, ignoring him, as he strummed nervously at his instrument.
“Oh, wait, check this out!”
And he sings again, another verse from that same, oddly morbid song, which she’d started to pick up is definitely about cannibals, but his voice is.. Different. The grit is gone. It’s like he’d ran his vocal cords under some hot soapy water, and washed all the grime and gravel out of them, because he sang like an angel, like a normal person, and then, suddenly, devolved into a hacking cough, doubled over.
“Sorry, can only do that so long. Hurts my throat,” he said, after a moment, all the grit back in his voice. He waited. There had been a soft laugh, and then it grew louder, coming from each of the members watching him in turn, because the idea that speaking like THAT somehow hurts, and his normal tone doesn’t, is just so outrageous and silly, and he’d stood there proudly, grinning in that way he does, because his joke had landed, and he might, for the first time since he was forced into their club, be enjoying himself.
So, yes. The last few weeks have been good. Very good.
All that club progress aside, looking back makes her a little flustered, because at this point, she’s gotten the hint that he’s not gay. What he is, is incredibly flirty, not only with Adam but with her, and she finds herself... enjoying it. He keeps his ukulele tucked into the bottom of the cart in the library, and sometimes, when he’s certain he won’t be interrupted, he grabs it and sings little songs about them, laying on top of the cart like a drunk lounge singer on a piano, as she or Adam wheel it along. The songs are made up on the spot tunes that often start dirty, and end sincere, like he can’t even help it. It’s embarrassing, and endearing, and just very… Beetlejuice.
There’s just the problem lingering overhead, the one she’s desperate to solve, of Kevin. BJ doesn’t talk about him, abruptly changes the subject when she tries, or just goes silent, and gives her a hard glare with those amber eyes, which is the worst of the three options, because silence on him is unnerving. He can do this thing where he goes deathly still, and she swears he doesn’t even breathe, just stands there, totally unmoving, like a corpse.
She thinks if she could just go to his house, and talk to his mother, she might get a better understanding of the entire situation, but despite him inviting them, he’s never followed up, and both Adam and herself are too polite to push.. Directly. But then, he doesn’t show up that day, not for library duty and not for drama club, and she makes the decision for him, that today is the day they’ll be coming over. She gets his address out of the guidance counselor, easily. “It’s so sweet you two want to go check up on him,” Mrs. Birch says, sliding his address across her desk to Barbara. “I knew the drama club would be a good fit for him! He’s already making friends!”
Adam’s mom is nice enough to drop them off, and Adam, adorable, sweet Adam, stares delighted at the house, as they walk up the front steps. “It’s a tudor!” he tells her, and she sort of nods, not really knowing exactly what that means. “I’ve never seen one painted black and white, before. Usually those accents are a natural wood color,” and she rings the bell, as he goes on. The outside of the house matches BJ’s stripes, and she wonders if that’s coincidence, or if his parents just really, really love him. The door swings open, and then a chubby blur jumps away from their line of sight, startling her from her thoughts. “Beetlejuice?” Adam calls, concerned, and it takes a moment for their friend to reappear in the doorway, with a croaked out, “Sup?”
He looks terrible. He always looks a little terrible, as mean as that is to say, too pale and with purple spots under his eyes she chalks up to exhaustion, but he looks worse, today. It hadn’t occurred to her that he’d actually be sick.
“We just wanted to come by and see if you were okay,” she tells him, and BJ cocks his head so far to the side, he looks like he might fall over. “Why?” “Because.. We’re your friends,” Adam says, cautiously, which causes BJ to stare down at the checkered entryway tile.
“Oh.” He packs a lot of emotion into that little noise.
“Can we come in?” She asks, and he doesn’t look sure, rubbing at the back of his neck, but then next to him, in the doorway, appears what must be Mrs. Deetz. She’s on the tall side, slim, with blonde hair past her shoulders, and she’s wearing all black with lace accents. Even her stud earrings and the rings on her fingers are that same dark hue.
“Well, hello! BJ, invite your friends in!” She urges him, and then, to them asks, “You kids hungry? We’re just sitting down to dinner. It’s grilled cheese tower night,” and then she turns, and leaves them there, like that needs no explanation.
BJ fidgets a moment, but relents. “Come in, I guess,” he moves aside, and Adam and Barbara take a collective step into the Deetz household. The house is dark, not for lack of light, but for lack of color. The walls are paneling which Adam, delighted, says must be original, but they’ve been stained a dark shade of coffee, and it takes a moment for her eyes to adjust. When she does, she takes in how strangely eerie the place is. It’s less like someone’s home and more like a haunted house ride.
“Oh, you guys haven't taken down the Halloween décor, yet?” Adam asks, noting a cracked vase full of black roses on a side table as they follow BJ further in, and BJ snorts. “That crap? It's up in th’ attack. This is what passes for normal around here.” Barbara stops to stare at a picture of a distorted figure cannibalizing a smaller one. “Saturn Devouring His Son,” BJ says, briefly putting on a voice like a tour guide, high pitched and peppy, and both she and Adam wince. “What’s with you and cannibalism?” she asks, which only earns her that haunted laugh in response.
The kitchen, at least, looks a little more normal and bright, but Barbara learns quickly that’s not to be trusted, because sitting on the counter is what looks to be a lasagna made from sandwiches and sauce. “You guys are here on a night Emily had to cook. Bad luck,” BJ tells them, and it takes her a moment to realize he’s talking about his mother. Does he use her first name?
Emily, or, Mrs. Deetz, her mind corrects politely, busies herself with dishing them both a plate. “So, you kids must be.. Adam and Barbara,” she says, knowingly, and BJ, perhaps embarrassed, shuffles his bare feet at nothing. He’s been talking to his mom about them… aww. She notices then that he’s in his pajamas, which are, like everything else he wears, eccentric. He looks cute. She realizes she’s staring, and BJ catches her eye, and wiggles his eyebrows at her. Oh, god.
“We’re sorry for dropping by unannounced, Mrs. Deetz,” Adam says, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose, and Mrs. Deetz waives that off. “It’s totally fine. BJ’s never taken a sick day, before, I bet you probably thought he was faking. You kids can call me Emily. And that, of course, is Lydia.” She gestures to the nine year old scrutinizing them from the kitchen table.
“Hello again,” Barbara says, and Lydia gives her a smile, at least, but it's wary, it’s very, “I’ve got my eyes on you.” It’s strange to see from a little kid.
They all sit down to eat, all five of them, at the kitchen table, she and Adam settled across from BJ and Lydia. Adam squints, trying to read what’s on the other boy’s shirt. “What does that say?” he asks, and BJ glances down, and pulls the top taught, to make it easier to read. “Least exciting hole I’ve ever been in,” both boys say, at the same time. “Grand Canyon National Park.” Barbara and Adam both blush at that, and Mrs.. Emily, Emily just laughs. Lydia looks annoyed. “No one will explain to me what that means,” she tells Barbara, leaning closer to her, and almost looking hopeful. Barbara avoids that look. “It’s a dirty joke,” is all she says, and Lydia, clearly not satisfied, just takes a bite of her grilled cheese abomination. “Chuck hates this shirt,” BJ tells them. “Chuck?” “Chuck, Chuckster, Chuckles, Charles.. My dad,” he grates out. Barbara can’t imagine calling her father by his first name. She’d be in a world of trouble for being “disrespectful,” if she tried. “Is Mr. Deetz home?” Adam asks, and Lydia is the one to reply, mouth still a little too full.
“He’s at the office. He’s always working so fucking late,” Lydia says, and then lets it settle in the air, like she’s waiting for something. Barbara balks, and it feels like her eyes are bulging out of her head, because she’s never heard that kind of language from a nine year old. She glances at Emily nervously, waiting for her to blow up, to be angry, but Emily just seems to be in deep thought.
“I dunno about that one, Lyds,” Mrs. Deetz finally says, and Lydia puffs up her chest and tries again. “He’s always working so god damn late?” She looks to her mother, and Emily, finger on her chin, nods. “Yeah, alright. I hereby decree that Lydia Deetz, at the age of nine and a half, is allowed to say god damn.” Lydia pumps her fist and then takes another huge mouthful of grilled cheese casserole. “Bout fuckin’ time,” BJ grunts. Barbara thinks the Deetz family might all be whack jobs. there's more, a lot more, but tumblr can't handle it all, so read this chapter in full over on Ao3!
Erwin was his King, and Levi was his knight. He was his most trusted soldier and his most loyal subject. Levi took an oath, swearing his life and soul in servitude to his King.
His heart, unfortunately, belonged only to a Queen.
 “Are you serious?” Levi hisses, staring at Erwin and not believing his ears. “Have you really chosen her? Out of a dozen other candidates?”
“My decision is final,” Erwin calmly replies. “Lady Hange of House Zoe will become my wife and our Queen.”
“You’ve gone mad,” Levi sighs, knowing it is futile to try and change Erwin’s mind. “That woman could never become a Queen. She doesn’t seem to know what etiquette is and she has no manners whatsoever! She wore man’s clothes to a ball, for god’s sake!”
“My decision is final,” Erwin repeats in a more commanding voice, getting tired of Levi’s theatrics. “Lady Hange is kind and sympathetic, and she is insanely smart. She will make a great Queen.”
“Are we talking about the same woman? Lady Hange I’ve seen is a complete lunatic with more than a few screws loose.”
“Oi!” suddenly a voice appears from another room. Levi freezes in his place, immediately recognizing that deep contralto. “It’s not nice to talk like that about future Queen.”
Erwin chuckles warmly in his seat, and Levi slowly turns around.
Just as he expected, Lady Hange walks into the room, her loyal knight trudging after her, as always.
Levi already opens his mouth to apologize, even though he feels no inclination towards that woman, he spoke about her with utmost disrespect. Even if she wasn’t a future Queen, she still remains a part of the nobility, and Levi, a street rat with no family name, just offended her.
However, Lady Hange doesn’t seem to be mad. Where any other noble woman would immediately begin screaming, demanding Erwin to behead him right here and right now, Lady Hange just smiles, her eyes sparkling with amusement behind the lenses of her glasses.
“I take no offence at your words,” Hange reassures him. “Actually no one has ever talked about me like that. Especially to my face. It feels so refreshing, right, Moblit?” she turns to her knight, and the man just nods, obviously accustomed to his Lady’s eccentric behavior.
“I should probably introduce myself once more,” Hange curtsies in front of him, and Levi curses under his breath upon seeing how clumsily she does it. “Since I didn’t seem to make much of an impression on you the first time,” she winks at him, smirking, and Levi’s cheeks start to redden.
He remembers their first meeting all too well.
Lady Hange just returned from a hunt with other nobles. She tried to introduce herself to Levi, outstretching her hand to him. And Levi, looking at her hand, which had dirt on it, refused to touch her. He ignored her completely, turning around and walking away from her.
Well, he couldn’t have known that Erwin would decide to make her his Queen, could he?
But now Levi has to repent for his mistake.
So he stands on one knee, taking Hange’s hand in his.
“I deeply apologize for my foul mouth and my improper behavior,” Levi closes his eyes, glad that due to his kneeling position neither Hange, nor Erwin can see his face. They can’t see how annoyed he truly looks and how fiercely he glares at Lady Hange beneath his fringe. “I hope milady would find it in her heart to forgive me.”
Levi hopes she will actually buy his lie.
Hange doesn’t. Instead, she starts laughing, loudly and definitely unladylike.
Levi snaps his gaze to look at her.
“You are a terrible liar, Sir Levi,” she tells, when she finishes laughing. “But as I said, you do not need to apologize. I harbor no ill feelings towards you.”
“I told you she is a very kind woman,” Erwin smirks, as he comes to stand beside Hange.
Levi swiftly lets go of Hange’s hand and gets to his feet. His face still burns in embarrassment.
“And I called you here not just to announce my engagement,” Erwin’s face becomes serious, all signs of mirth and amusement gone, as he is once again wearing a mask of a King. “I need you to look after Lady Hange, at least until our wedding and her coronation. Some people from the court may not welcome my decision, and they may try to harm Lady Hange. You cannot let that happen, Levi.”
“Your Majesty!” Hange’s knight, Sir Moblit, calls. “I am more than capable of looking after my Lady!” he then turns his gaze to Levi, furrowing his eyebrows and staring at him with distrust.
“I’m sure you are,” Erwin smiles at the man. “But Sir Levi is one of my most trusted man, and I would feel much calmer if he looked over Lady Hange,” Erwin turns to look at Levi, staring at him intently. “I entrust you with my future wife’s life and safety, Levi. Do not let me down.”
“Of course,” Levi nods readily. Whatever he feels for Hange and how much the woman irritates him, it does not really matter. Erwin, his King, gave Levi an order. And Levi will do anything and more to accomplish this task. “As long as Lady Hange is beside me, no harm will ever come her way.”
Before Levi walks out of the room, dutifully following after Hange, Erwin gives him another look. And Levi understands its meaning without explanation. There is more to Erwin’s order than he said out loud. There is something else that troubles him. Erwin doesn’t trust his fiancé as much as he has said, so now it is Levi’s task to make sure that Lady Hange is just as kind and trustworthy as she appears.
 ***
“You have to eat, Lady Hange,” Moblit practically pleads, hovering over her.
Hange doesn’t even look at him, waving her hand in his general direction. “Mm, of course, I’ll do just that as soon as I finish this book.”
Levi quietly tsks. He has spent an entire week, following Hange. And that exact same scene repeats every single day.
He had enough of it.
So he grabs a chair and sits next to Hange. “He’s right, you know. You do need to eat. And a bath.”
That’s finally gets Hange’s attention. She turns around, grinning. “Are you saying I smell?”
“I’m saying you reek, Your Majesty.”
Hange doesn’t seem bothered by his rude words. On the contrary, the grin on her face widens. “I’ve told you, you don’t need to call me by my title. I mean, you call Erwin by his name, right?”
Levi’s eyes widen. Had he slipped in front of her? He does call Erwin by his name, but never in front of other people.
Hange’s grin turns into a soft smile, as she sees his troubled expression. “You didn’t do it in my presence,” she assures him. “I just guessed it, don’t worry.”
She’s insanely smart, Erwin’s voice rings inside his head. Of course, how he could forget it.
Still, her knowing gaze disturbs him, so Levi decides to change the topic. “Your knight calls you Lady Hange.”
“She’s a member of a noble family!” Moblit exclaims, scandalized. “I can’t just call her by her name!”
Levi shrugs. “I can.”
Hange nods approvingly, and then returns to her book. She thinks their conversation is over. Levi has a different opinion.
“You still need to take a bath.”
“Sure, as soon as I finish this.”
She doesn’t lift her eyes from that book. Levi starts to get angry.
“Hange, bath. Now.” he says lowly, getting to his feet and looming over her. “This is your last warning.”
“Of course,” she replies. Not even a glance in his direction.
Well, he did warn her, right?
“Levi!” Hange shrieks, as he lifts her from the chair and tosses over his shoulder, as though she’s a sack of potatoes, and not a future Queen. “Let me down! Immediately!”
“I’ll let you down, don’t worry. When we’ll get to your chambers.”
“Levi! This is preposterous! You can’t do that to me!”
“And what are you going to do?” Levi lazily inquires, as he starts walking out of the library. “Behead me? Hang? Dismember?”
Hange huffs, crossing hands on her chest. Levi, that fucker, knows that she won’t do any of those things. The rascal got too comfortable around her. Hange fumes, thinking of a way to get out of this ridiculous situation. She really needs to finish that book.
She has seen Levi train, he is strong, so there is no way she can fight him alone. Her eyes land on Moblit, who is walking behind them.
“Moblit!” she outstretches her arms towards him. “My faithful knight! Save me from this vile man!”
Moblit instantly looks away. “I’m s-sorry, Lady Hange,” he stutters, scratching his neck. Hange really, really doesn’t like the nervous look on his face. “But you do need to rest.”
“I can’t believe it!” Hange screams. “You are in cahoots with him! My knight, my most loyal man has betrayed me!”
“For the love of gods, stop shouting,” Levi admonishes with a tired sigh. “No one has betrayed you. We’re doing this for your own goddamn sake.”
“Nifa drew you a bath, milady,” Moblit says with a sweet smile. “And I’ll bring you food.”
“And if you’ll be a good girl and do, as we say,” Levi adds. “I’ll even bring your stupid book.”
“Fine,” Hange agrees. There is nothing she can do about it, after all. She is outnumbered. “But you’ll bring me all the books I ask.”
Levi rolls his eyes. “Whatever it takes to make you clean.”
 ***
As Levi spends more time around Hange, he learns that the most annoying thing about her isn't her over-friendliness, unbelievable messiness or even her apparent disrespect for court's rules. No, it's the fact that she doesn't seem to know what peace is.
She is always running around, rushing from one task to another, taking no breaks and stopping not even for a second.
As he follows after her, getting to know her better, Levi now sees why Erwin has chosen her. Hard-working, diligent and borderline obsessed with her duties, she seems like a more cheerful version of Erwin himself.
She is also smart. It's hard not to notice, especially since Levi spends literal days by her side, sitting with her in the library and watching her devour book after book. She is intelligent and is not afraid to show it. As he listens to Hange trade ideas with the best scholars of their kingdom, Levi starts suspecting that she's smarter than even Erwin.
But there are others sides to her character, the ones that amaze Levi even more.
Hange is kind, Erwin wasn't wrong about it. But he forgot to mention exactly how kind she is.
Hange comes to town frequently, and there she buys fresh bread for beggars and sweets for children. She visits orphanages, bringing toys and books with her. She sits with children in a circle, reading to them, or she helps with their studies, or she runs with them in the fields, as though she is just a simple woman like them, and not the future Queen.
The more Levi watches her, the more apparent it becomes to him just how right Erwin was, when choosing Hange as his Queen.
She is smart and sharp, just like Erwin. But she is also kind, so very kind. And where Erwin cares only about a big picture, she sees all the tiny, but necessary details. Erwin has his goals, important, essential goals. He wants to improve their kingdom, to make it stronger and richer than before. But Hange cares about people, about simple, common people that Erwin so often forgets. But when she'll be sitting on that throne, right next to Erwin, she won't let him forget. She'll remind him what it means to be a King.
But there are other, less regal parts of Hange's personality.
Her sense of humour, for example.
Levi loathes to admit it, but she's the funniest goddamn person he has ever met.
She's sarcastic and cocky, and it’s near impossible to offend her. Whenever Levi slips and insults her, she doesn't reprimand him, doesn't remind him of his place. No, instead she accepts whatever insult he throws her away, and then gives him a much more vicious and cutting reply.
And it's.... It's invigorating. Levi could spend hours just bantering with her.
Hange constantly keeps him on his toes, always surprising Levi with the weirdest shit that comes out of her mouth, and he... He likes it. As annoying as Hange seems, Levi's genuinely enjoying himself when he's with her.
Hange is certainly one of a kind. Levi should have realized it earlier.
After all, Erwin doesn't make mistakes.
  ***
Two weeks later, Levi comes to Erwin’s study to tell him exactly that.
As always, Erwin is working, stacks of papers littering his giant desk.
“Hange is trustworthy,” Levi says, as he takes a seat across from Erwin. “You did not need to worry.”
Erwin raises a brow at Levi’s casual familiarity, but decides not to press it. “That’s not the only thing that made me worry.”
“You really think someone will try to harm her?” Levi asks, slightly taken aback.
“Hange isn’t very popular among other nobles.”
“You know something,” Levi realizes, narrowing his eyes.
“I suspect something,” Erwin corrects. “I don’t have any evidence.”
“Yet.”
“Yet,” Erwin agrees, his jaw set. Then he sighs and puts down his quill. “There is going to be a hunt before the wedding. It’s an important tradition,” Erwin emphases last words enough to let Levi know what exactly he thinks about it. “Nobles from the whole kingdom will be participating.”
“And you think someone will try to get rid of Hange there?”
Erwin nods, his face grave. “During the hunt, future husband and wife must chase their separate preys alone. And then whatever they catch, they share during the wedding’s feast. It symbolizes the promise to share everything.”
“That is stupid,” Levi huffs.
“It is,” Erwin agrees. “But it is a tradition, and whether I like it or not, I must follow it.”
“So Hange is going to be hunting alone…”
“Not exactly. As members of noble families, we are allowed to take two guardsmen with us. But even so, I’m afraid someone may use this opportunity. And that’s why I ask you to look after her.”
“Don’t you want me by your side?”
“No,” Erwin answers with a smile. “If anything happens, the others members of the royal guard will protect me.”
“Why don’t you give them to Hange?”
“I don’t trust them like I trust you.” Erwin replies, his blue eyes staring straight at Levi.
“Alright,” Levi sighs, refusing to let the weight of Erwin’s words drag him down. “I’ll protect her.”
“Thank you, Levi,” a smile returns to Erwin’s face.
Levi wants to get up and leave Erwin to his work. But there is something else he needs to tell him.
“I know you’re busy, and, gods my witness, Hange doesn’t stop working even for a second, but,” he begins, deliberately avoiding Erwin’s eyes. “Maybe, you should spend more time with your fiancé. If you keep ignoring her like that, she’ll get… lonely.”
Levi doesn’t understand how that thought appeared in his mind. But the fact remains that it did, and he has been thinking about it for a while now. Hange doesn’t seem depressed or sad, and especially she doesn’t look lonely, but… Erwin and Hange are going to marry. Levi knows that neither of them are doing it out of love, but Erwin is his friend, Levi cares about him and wants him to be happy. And Hange, as annoying as she is, is kind and compassionate. She deserves to be happy too.
“She won’t get lonely,” Erwin replies, his gaze returning to the papers on his desk. “Especially with you by her side.”
Levi doesn’t quite understand what Erwin means by his words, and Erwin refuses to look at him, already lost in his work. So Levi has no choice, but to quietly leave his study.
And as hard as he tries, Levi can’t seem to get those stupid words out of his mind.
***
In the morning of the hunt, Levi checks on his horse, while discreetly surveying his surroundings. Erwin was right, a lot of nobles gathered for this hunt. Most of them talk and laugh, while waiting for their servants to finish preparing the horses.
Almost none of them pay much attention to Hange.
She doesn’t seem to mind, as she chirpily discusses hunting dogs with Erwin and Lord Mike, one of Erwin’s closest allies. Levi cocks his head, taking a closer look at Mike, but, despite being twice as taller and twice as wider than Levi himself, the man doesn’t seem threatening or suspicious in any way.
Levi looks around the courtyard again. Some lords and ladies glance in Hange’s direction, as they whisper something to one another. He tries to remember their names, but is interrupted by a hand that claps his shoulder.
“Sir Levi,” Moblit slightly bows his head. “Are you ready for the hunt?”
“Almost,” Levi replies, tightening the reins of his hours. “Do you wish to discuss something?”
“Just a small warning,” Moblit chuckles. “Lady Hange is a very smart woman. She is wise too, but… not always.”
Levi quirks his eyebrow, silently asking Moblit to be more precise.
“When she gets excited… she can become a little bit careless,” he admits.
“Oh,” Levi breathes out. It isn’t exactly a surprise, but… “Thank you, Moblit. I’ll keep a more careful eye on her.”
“Shall we go then?”
Levi nods and together they make their way over to Hange.
As soon as they’re next to her, Hange turns around with a wide grin. “Ah, my two faithful knights!” she chuckles, wrapping her hands around Moblit and Levi’s shoulders. “My dear husband,” she winks at Erwin. “I’m now ready to start the hunt.”
“Your desire is my command,” Erwin answers with a charming smile.
Then he turns around, addressing the gathered nobles.
And so the hunt begins.
  ***
At first, everything is going smoothly. Levi, Moblit and Hange are riding slowly through the forest. Hange and Moblit are reminiscing about their days in Zoe’s estate, while Levi silently admires the scenery.
It’s peaceful. It’s quiet. Levi enjoys it.
The peace and quiet is unexpectedly destroyed, when Hange lets out a loud shriek. That’s all the warning Levi gets before Hange sends her horse into a gallop. He freezes for a second too long, just watching her disappear into the distance. It’s only when Moblit starts calling after her, as he speeds his own horse, that Levi finally snaps out of his daze.
“Shit,” Levi grunts, as he hurries after them. “A little bit careless my ass! When I get to that fucking idiot, I’ll kill her with my own hands.”
Levi strokes the horse’s nape, whispering soothing words into her ear and urging her to go faster. Where did four-eyes learn how to ride so fast? He can’t even see her. Worry starts to fill his mind, as Levi desperately tries to keep up with her. He promised Erwin, he can’t let him down.
He can’t lose Hange.
Levi strains his ears, trying to hear something else, except the beating of his heart and the sound of his horse’s hooves hitting the ground. He can’t hear anything, but then—then that silence is ripped apart by a panicked scream.
Levi recognizes Moblit’s voice and, for a second, his heart stops beating. The world seems to stop altogether, as he turns the corner and sees this terrifying scene.
Moblit is kneeling over someone’s body. No, not someone’s, it’s Hange, Hange’s body is lying prone on the ground.
In a daze, Levi gets off his horse and runs to them. He doesn’t realize what he’s doing, doesn’t really register his movements, until he’s kneeling next to Moblit, looking down at Hange’s face.
There is blood, oh gods, so much blood.
“What happened?” Levi asks in a raspy, desperate whisper.
“I d-don’t know,” Moblit isn’t feeling any better than him, his voice shaking and his hands trembling, as he tries to bring Hange back to consciousness. “I f-followed after Lady Hange, but I still was too far away. I’m not sure what really happened, but her horse got spooked by something and it threw her off. Lady Hange fell and the horse kicked her or, maybe, she hit her head against the rock, I d-didn’t get a good look.”
Moblit sounds like he’s ready to cry, so Levi lifts his hand and squeezes his shoulder. “I know that you’re scared and I know that you worry for her,” he locks his eyes with Moblit’s, making him listen. “But I need you. Hange needs you. Can you find Erwin? And get some help for her?”
“O-of course!” Moblit hurries to his feet. “I-I’ll try to be as swift as possible. Please, take care of her,” he says, before he gets on his horse and rides away.
Levi emits a deep sigh. Moblit will get Erwin, and Erwin will help Hange. Everything will be fine. All he needs to do is to sit tight and wait for the help to arrive.
He carefully lifts Hange and puts her head on his knees. He tries not to think about the blood on her face, or the unusual paleness and stillness of her features.
It is just a head wound, Levi reminds himself. He received a dozen like this, when he was training to become a knight. But somehow, Hange’s wounds seem worse, far more severe than any injuries Levi himself had ever received.
Does he feel so, because she’s a future Queen? Erwin’s fiancé? Or because she’s simply Hange, a woman Levi spent his past two weeks with? A cheerful and kind woman, whose smile is so bright, it lights up the whole room? Whose laughter always makes Levi feel just the tiniest bit better? Who doesn’t care if he’s a scumbag from the streets and considers him an equal despite their different upbringings?
Who is Hange for him? Levi can’t quite answer this question yet, but he knows one thing. He won’t let anyone harm her again. And if he finds a person, who did it, who spilled so much of her blood… he will kill them without hesitation.
“You know it’s very rude to stare at maidens with such a scary expression?”
Hange’s hoarse voice brings Levi out of his thoughts. He stares at her, dumbfounded. He didn’t even notice that she came back to her senses.
Levi looks at her stupid grinning face, and relief nearly overwhelms him. He brings Hange closer, until their foreheads are touching.
“You scared me so fucking much, you idiot,” he tries to sound gruff, annoyed and angry. But his words come out in a soft whisper.
“This?” Hange touches her bloody face with a finger and then shows it to Levi. “It’s nothing! I had so much worse when I was a kid.”
Levi moves away, scrunching his nose in disgust. “This explains so much.”
Hange bursts out laughing, and Levi’s so mesmerized by the sight of her smiling face that he almost doesn’t notice Erwin’s arrival.
As soon as he sees him, though, Levi hastily gets to his feet, taking a few steps away from Hange. If anyone would see him, almost embracing the future Queen, people would get wrong ideas.
Levi doesn’t want to encourage that.
Erwin kneels in front of Hange, his brows furrowed in an expression of worry. “What happened?”
“Nothing serious!” Hange assures with a smile. “I just thought I saw a deer and proceeded to chase it. Then my horse heard some loud noise or something and threw me off.”
“A loud noise?” Erwin asks, scratching his chin.
“Your horse isn’t that easily spooked,” Moblit adds, his eyes nervous, as he surveys his Lady’s injuries.
“It isn’t time to think about it,” Levi interrupts, glaring at Erwin. “We need to get her to healer.”
“You’re right,” Erwin stands up, helping Hange get to her feet. He then lifts one of her hands and throws it over Levi’s shoulder. “Get her to the castle,” Erwin orders.
“And you?”
“I need to look around,” Erwin replies seriously. “Take care of her, Levi.”
“Will do, Your Majesty,” Levi gives him a bow.
He hovers over Hange, as he gets her to his horse and then sits behind her, spurting the animal into action.
“Erwin thinks someone tried to hurt me?” Hange asks, as they ride through the forest.
“He didn’t tell you?”
“No,” Hange shakes her head. “But he didn’t need to. I’m not an absentminded weirdo everything thinks I am. I notice things too.”
“Erwin doesn’t think you about you this way,” Levi replies. “And neither do I.”
And before Hange can say something, Levi speeds up his horse. “Let’s hurry up. We need to show that wound to the healer.”
  ***
Back at the palace, the healer assures Levi and Moblit, who arrived just after them, that Hange’s wound isn’t serious. One day at the infirmary, and she will be back on her feet.
Still, neither Moblit, nor Levi leave her side, sitting next to Hange’s bed.
Moblit reads to her and entertains her with conversation. Levi just sits there, not talking and not taking his eyes off Hange even for a second.
He should go, he knows that. Erwin asked him only to bring her back, he said nothing about keeping her company, but whenever Levi tries to leave, he remembers Hange’s bloodied face and feels almost a physical need to stay.
He can’t let any harm come her way. And he won’t.
In the evening, Erwin comes to visit her. He looks tired, but as soon as he sees Hange, he puts on a warm smile.
“Are you feeling better?” he asks her, as he takes her hand in his.
“Of course!” Hange beams. “I don’t really think I need to spend the night in infirmary, but the healer insisted,” she huffs a bit petulantly.
Erwin brings her palm to his lips, pressing a soft kiss there. “I’m sure the healer just wants to make sure you’re alright. Our wedding approaches and I want you to be healthy during the ceremony.”
“It will be embarrassing, if you faint while reciting vows,” Levi stands up and comes to stand next to Hange.
He doesn’t know why, but he feels uneasy, when all of Hange’s attention is focused on Erwin. They are to be married soon, Levi knows that. And he really wants them to be happy. But whenever Erwin touches her so gently, Levi has a weird feeling inside. It clutches his heart and twists his insides.
The feeling is gone the moment Hange’s eyes are set on him.
“Levi?” Erwin’s voice brings him back to reality. “Can we talk outside?”
Levi nods and follows Erwin into the corridor.
“So?” Levi crosses hands on his chest, staring up at Erwin. “You found something?”
“No,” Erwin shakes his head. “If there was foul play involved in Hange getting injured, I couldn’t find any evidence of it.”
“Maybe, it was an accident?”
“Maybe,” Erwin agrees, although his hard gaze and pressed lips tell a different story. “But in the meanwhile, keep watching over her. At least, until the wedding.”
“As you wish,” Levi promises, before going back to Hange.
  ***
The royal wedding is beautiful. Levi has been living in the palace for almost seven years now, but he has never seen a celebration more grand that this.
Hundreds of nobles come to the palace, all of them wearing the brightest and biggest jewelry and the most extravagant, colorful clothes they have.
The church, where the wedding is held, is the most majestic building Levi has ever seen. It’s big and spacious, the ceilings are high and the windows are wide. The warm sunlight trickles inside, making everything glisten.
Erwin himself is dressed in a majestic blue doublet, adorned with small white wings, which symbolize their kingdom. He wears a crown on his head, and there is a pleased smile on his face, as he stands in front of an altar, waiting for his almost-wife and Queen.
It’s a beautiful day, and it will be a beautiful wedding.
But when those giant doors open, when Hange finally walks in, Levi comes to a realization that none of it – nothing in the world - compares to her beauty.
And it’s weird, because Levi has never thought of her like that, Hange is a million different things – she is weird, annoying, loud, kind, smart, funny or endearing, but she’s never beautiful, not like this.
Watching her walk down the aisle feels almost surreal. That woman in a long white gown, who walks with her eyes slightly cast down, looks nothing like Hange. And even though, deep down, Levi prefers the Hange he knows – the one, who wears man’s clothes to a ball and whose hair always sticks in different directions, he can’t tear his eyes away from her.
And he feels horrible just thinking about it, doesn’t understand, where those feelings even came from, but as he watches Erwin lean in to press a kiss on Hange’s lips, the priest announcing them husband and wife, Levi desperately wants to be in Erwin’s place.
***
The feast that begins just after the wedding is nothing short of horrible.
The dining hall, where it’s being held, is too warm and stuffy, and the guests, who get progressively drunker with every goddamn minute, are loud and messy.
Levi hates it. He wants to leave. He wants to close himself in his chambers, or, maybe, go to the training grounds and let out all of his frustration in a slightly more productive manner.
But he can’t.
Because Erwin has left to talk with ambassadors – or so he claims – Levi doesn’t quite understand how one can leave the celebration of their own wedding earlier, and Moblit is getting drunk with other knights, so there is no one, but Levi, who can look after their newly coroneted Queen.
Who is currently getting drunk herself, seemingly undisturbed by the absence of her husband. As he hears her utter another stupid, and surprisingly vulgar, joke to Lord Mike, who sits next to her and is roaring with laughter at every word that comes out of her mouth, Levi decides it’s time for some intervention.
So he stands behind Hange, grabbing her by the collar of her shirt (thank gods, she changed into her usual clothes earlier, all Levi’s strange feelings are gone along with that dress). “Hange, I think it’s time for you to leave,” Levi resists the urge to gag, as he sees that the front of her shirt is stained with something dark and sticky.
“But Leeevi,” Hange lifts her head and stares at him upside down. Her stupid grin makes something flatter inside Levi. Maybe, he shouldn’t have eaten that fish. “I’m having so much fun!”
Levi glares at the man Hange is having so much fun with. Lord Mike seems as inebriated as their new Queen.
“C’mon, Hange,” Levi lightly pulls on her collar. “Get up and let’s go.”
“Leeeevi,” Hange whines, looking at Levi with puffed out cheeks. It’s an absolutely ridiculous expression, and Levi definitely doesn’t find it even a tiniest bit adorable.
“Don’t make me call Erwin,” he says, turning away. Her stupid pouting face wasn’t working on him.
“You’re no fun at all,” she huffs, but, thankfully, gets to her feet.
She only slightly sways, as she stands up. Levi sighs and takes her by the hand.
It’s good that everyone in the dining hall is too drunk to see that their new Queen is leaving her wedding feast, hand-in-hand with a knight.
"Levi..." Hange calls, as they walk through the palace's corridors. She sounds different than before, her loud mirth is gone, and when Levi stops and turns around to look at her, he sees that her cheeks are slightly red, as she stares at him.
Levi can't quite guess if that's the effect of alcohol or a trick of light.
"What?" he asks, feigning annoyance. In truth, Hange's weird expression makes his heart beat faster. "Don't tell me you're going to throw up."
"No!" Hange shakes her head with a smile. "I just wanted to thank you... For looking out for me. I don't deserve such kindness."
"Don't be an idiot," Levi scoffs as he starts walking again. "You deserve that and so much more."
"What?" Hange pulls on his hand, stopping him again. "What did you say?"
Levi looks at her. Is she really going to make him say it?
He takes a deep breath. "I said that you deserve so much more. You're incredible, Hange, I don't think I need to tell you that, and you deserve so much more than this."
What he means by this - his kindness, or marriage to Erwin, or the fact that he left her on the night of their wedding - Levi doesn't know. But he knows that if he had a chance, just a smallest chance, he'd do everything he could to make Hange happy.
"You really think so?" she asks, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "You really feel this way about me?"
As she stares at him with those big eyes and that tiny, shy smile Levi thinks that he wants to kiss more than anything else in the world.
That thought surprises him, it comes out of nowhere, but once it’s there, Levi can't get it out of his head. He needs to finish this conversation, and then he needs to go to the training ground and run as many laps as it takes to get rid of ridiculous thoughts such as these.
"Yeah...I do," Levi nods and turns away, hoping that Hange is satisfied with his answer.
Of course she fucking isn't.
"I thought you hated me," Hange says, her voice is so surprised, as though she really thought this way.
"Idiot," Levi rolls his eyes. "If I hated you, I wouldn't have bothered with your stupid ass."
Levi's mind doesn't completely register what happens next. One moment, he was standing in the middle of a hallway, and in the next he is pressed against the wall, as Hange looms over him. Her hands are on his shoulders. She hesitates for a quick moment, her eyes darting from his lips to his eyes. Whatever she sees there, Levi doesn't know, but in the next second she puts her lips on his.
Whatever Levi has been thinking about comes to a full stop.
Hange... Hange is kissing him. Hange, his Queen, Erwin's wife. He is kissing Erwin's wife. Erwin, the man who saved him, who gave him a second chance in life, who took him out of the slumbers of the lower city. His friend, his King to whom Levi sworn his life. He has sworn to follow him to hell and back, to sacrifice his life without hesitation.
And right now... He is kissing his wife. He has to stop, has to push Hange away. He won't betray Erwin. Not like this.
But just for a moment, just for a second, Levi lingers there, savoring her taste, losing himself in the feeling of her body, pressed against his.
He will remember this, he will remember this small moment for the rest of his life.
His hands tremble with the desire to touch her, to embrace and hold her in his arms.
Instead Levi puts them on her shoulders and pushes her away.
Hange's eyes, when she looks at him, are confused.
She looks so lost, and Levi wants nothing more than to comfort her, to tell her how much she really means to him.
But he can't.
So he puts as much disdain and indifference in his eyes as he can.
"You're drunk, Your Majesty," he says, no, he spits it out.
Hange looks as though he slapped her. There is so much pain and hurt in her eyes that Levi almost starts apologizing. I don’t mean it, he wants to say. I love you more than anything, he wants to confess.
But duty was always more important to him. Before he met Hange, duty was everything to him. He can’t change his priorities now.
So Levi hurries to turn away and close his eyes, before he sees tears streaming down her face.
He won't be able to walk away then, he won't be able to let go.
"Go to sleep," he says at last.
Hange doesn't follow him, doesn't call out his name.
This means that his words had worked.
But it doesn't make Levi feel better.
***
He heads straight into the dining hall, finding it blissfully empty. There a couple of drunkards, lying on the benches, clearly passed out. Levi doesn’t pay attention to them. Hopefully, he’ll soon join them.
He gets himself a bottle of wine and chugs it as quickly as he can. It tastes like piss, but he doesn’t care. He needs to forget, needs to get those big brown eyes out of his mind. They stare at him as soon as he closes his eyes. They judge him, as Hange’s voice whispers that he’s a liar and a coward. That he is the most despicable person in this world, if he dared to hurt her so.
But Levi doesn’t listen. He shakes his head and drinks more.
It wasn’t real, he tries to persuade himself. Hange doesn’t really feel this way about him. She was drunk and her husband left her on the night of their wedding. She was lonely and sad, of course, she tried to find comfort in someone else’s arms.
Hange doesn’t love him. He made the right choice.
She will probably forget about it in the morning, and everything will return to normal.
Levi lifts a bottle to his lips, hoping that if he drinks a little more, he’ll be able to ignore his broken heart.
  ***
In the morning, he feels like shit.
When a servant-boy starts banging on his door, shouting to him that King Erwin wants to see him, Levi starts feeling even worse.
But Erwin can’t know about yesterday’s accident, right? No matter how smart he is, there is no way he found out about that. Or, maybe, someone saw them in the hallway? It wasn’t like him or Hange paid much attention to their surroundings.
Shit, Levi thinks as he quickly puts his clothes on. What if Erwin really knows?
However, when Levi enters Erwin’s study, there is a surprisingly happy smile on his face. He chuckles, as he sees Levi’s annoyed and obviously tired face.
“I take it, you had fun last night?” Erwin asks.
Levi decides not to dignify this with a reply. Erwin really doesn’t want to know what kind of fun Levi was having last night. Instead, he takes a seat across from him. His anger considerably lessens, when he notices two cups with steaming tea. He immediately takes one in his hand, enjoying the warm substance as it runs down his throat.
“So,” Erwin puts a palm under his chin, looking at Levi with warm eyes. That damn pleased smile is still on his lips. It creeps Levi out. “The wedding was beautiful, don’t you think?”
“It was alright,” Levi shrugs. Your wife was beautiful, he thinks, as he takes another sip from his tea to avoid looking at Erwin.
“And how was the feast? Did you enjoy it?”
“If you’re so curious,” Levi scowls. “Maybe, you should have stayed for a little bit longer?”
Erwin chuckles. “I should have stayed longer, shouldn’t I?” he muses. “I hope Hange wasn’t too sad without me?”
“I…” Levi looks at him, feeling lost. How in the hell should he answer this?
“Well,” Erwin continues, seemingly not seeing Levi’s confusion. “I hope you were a good company for her.”
Shit, shit, fucking shit!
Levi narrows his eyes, eyeing Erwin carefully. The smile on his face is still easy and warm, and his gaze doesn’t seem suspicious or angry.
Maybe, just a coincidence?
Levi drinks from his cup, trying to appear as nonchalant as possible. “Is there a reason you called me today?” he makes his voice sound as calm as it is possible with his wildly beating heart. “Or did you simply want to discuss your wedding?”
“It’s been a long time, since we were able to just sit and chat, don’t you think? But,” Erwin straightens, as his gaze hardens just a fraction. Levi tenses. “You’re right, there is a reason why I called you here. I want to know what happened between you and Hange.”
If Levi was a bit clumsier, if his reflexes were a bit slower or if he didn’t know how to hide his emotions so well, he’d definitely drop the cup he’s holding. Or, maybe, he’d gasp or curse.
Instead he doesn’t even move, only raising an eyebrow, as he looks at Erwin with a calm expression. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Really?” Erwin looks at him incredulously. “You didn’t have a fight? Then why Hange said to me that she doesn’t want you to protect her anymore?”
Levi’s heart clenches painfully. Sure, he expected something like that, but actually hearing about it? It felt like his heart has broken for the second time.
“I… yeah, we had a fight, now I remember,” Levi says, feigning indifference. “But it was bound to happen, right? Hange and I are just incompatible, I guess.”
“Hm,” Erwin scratches his chin thoughtfully. “I thought you were getting along just fine. Even more than just fine.”
Erwin looks at him, open and honest. He knows, Levi realizes. Erwin knows. There are a dozen excuses on Levi’s tongue, but he doesn’t dare to say any of them out loud. Whatever he says, he won’t be able to fool Erwin.
“It’s my fault,” he admits, lowering his head. Levi knows what Kings do with cheating wives. Even if Erwin is nothing like different monarchs, adultery is a serious crime, and Levi can’t let Hange be punished for it. “I fell in love with her, but Hange doesn’t feel the same. She loves only you, Erwin.”
Unexpectedly, Erwin starts laughing. Levi stares at him, lost and confused.
“I’m sorry, sorry,” Erwin raises his hands in placating manner. “You two…” he shakes his hand, still chuckling. “You two are so worth each other. Hange told me the same thing, you know? When we had a similar conversation this morning, she kept telling me not to punish you and that you have no feelings for her…” Erwin sighs. “Just go and talk with her.”
Levi looks at Erwin, eyeing him beneath his fridge. “You… you are not angry?” he asks slowly. “But she is your wife!”
“She is,” Erwin agrees. “And Hange is a wonderful, phenomenal person. But I can’t be the husband she deserves. I can’t give her what she needs. She knew what she was signing up for, knew that it will be more of an alliance than a marriage, but still she agreed to it. And I’ll be forever grateful to her that she did. And if she found someone her heart is aching for, I can’t and won’t stop her. Talk with her,” Erwin softly repeats. “You both deserve to be happy.”
“Erwin…” Levi whispers, not quite knowing what to say.
“Go,” Erwin urges. “You can thank me later, when you sort it all out.”
Levi nods, standing up. Before he walks out of the room, he turns around and bows. “You’re the best king this country could ask for. It’s an honor to serve you…” Levi pauses, lifting the corners of his lips in a smile. “And it’s an even bigger honor to call you a friend.”
His conversation with Erwin made Levi feel that much better. Now as he wonders through the castle’s hallways, looking for Hange, he is filled with hope.
Maybe, there will be a happy ending to their story.
  ***
He finds Hange in the gardens. She's sitting on a bench near the fountains, Moblit, unsurprisingly, stands by her side. There is a book open on her lap, but it seems to be forgotten, as Hange is looking down on the flower in her hands.
Unnoticed by neither Moblit, nor Hange Levi stops, staring at Hange from afar.
Calling her pretty or fair would be wrong, Hange is neither of those things. Her nose is too long and curved, her forehead is too wide, and she does nothing to hide those imperfections.
However, as Levi keeps looking at her, he can't deny that he's admiring her. She may not be the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, but she catches his eye nonetheless. She may not be fairest of the fair, but to Levi, she is the most wonderful person in this world.
He takes a breath and then. He takes a step forward.
Moblit is the first one to see him. He instantly tenses, his eyes flaring up with anger. He lays a hand on the hill of his sword, stepping in to hide Hange behind his back.
And, yeah, Levi should have expected something like that. Moblit is fiercely loyal and absurdly over-protective, of course, he’d get angry at Levi for hurting his Lady.
“Lady Hange doesn’t require your protection anymore,” he declares, as he stares Levi down with righteous anger in his eyes.
Levi can’t help, but admit that he is impressed by Moblit. He must have seen Levi fight during his trainings or during the tournaments. And even if he hasn’t, he most surely has heard the tales about Levi’s skills. And he doesn’t like to brag, but he’s not called the mightiest of knights for nothing, yet Moblit… Moblit doesn’t seem to care about it. And he genuinely seems ready to fight with Levi, to defend his Lady’s honor with all of his strength.
Levi is glad that a man like him defends Hange.
“I just want to talk,” he says quietly.
Moblit continues to regard him with cold eyes until Hange steps in. She lays a hand on Moblit’s arm, smiling at him. It’s a weak smile, so different from her usual ones. Levi hates himself for it, hates that he is reason for the sad look on her face.
“I’ll be fine, Moblit, you can take a break for a while.”
For a moment, Moblit seems hesitant. His eyes dart from his Lady to Levi a couple of times, but then he gives up. He takes his hand off the sword and walks away.
“Thank you,” Levi murmurs, as he sits next to her. He doesn’t sit too close, but even so, when he lowers himself down, Hange slightly, but visibly tenses.
“Maybe, it’s for the best if we talk,” Hange muses, not taking her eyes off that flower. It’s a daffodil, Levi realizes. He briefly wonders, where Hange managed to find it in this time of year. The winter is approaching, after all. “I should apologize to you.”
“Hange, w—” but she doesn’t let him finish.
Instead, she continues, as though she didn’t even hear him. “You were right, it was a mistake. I shouldn’t have kissed you—”
“Hange—”
“I shouldn’t have forced myself onto you, it is obvious that you don’t feel the same—”
“Hange—”
“I’m sorry for making you uncomfortabl—”
“Hange!” Levi raises his voice and grabs her shoulder, turning her to face him. Now he has her undivided attention. Fucking finally. “I came here to talk with you. So,” he looks deeply in her eyes, as his hand lowers, until it is holding her palm. Hange tenses, but doesn’t try to shake him off. “Can I talk?”
Hange nods, timidly. She lowers her head, playing with that damned flower. Levi would have preferred for her to look at him, but well. Maybe, it’s for the best. At least, she won’t see him blushing and stuttering like a fool.
“You are right, you did make me uncomfortable,” immediately, Hange tries to free her hand, but Levi intertwines their fingers and doesn’t let go. “But it’s not the kiss that made me feel this way, o-or, maybe it is, no, wait, fuck!” Levi growls, distressed by his inability to translate his feelings into words. He was never good with either. “Shit, let me start over,” he ruffles his hair. “First, I want to… apologize. I know that I hurt you last night, but believe me I didn’t want this. I hope you can forgive m—”
“Levi,” Hange smiles. It’s a soft, but still disturbingly sad smile. It looks weird on her face. “You don’t have to apologize. I am the one at fault here—”
“For gods’ sake!” Levi exclaims. “Can you let me finish?”
“Oh, okay,” Hange chuckles, and Levi’s heart flutters at that sound. “Go on then.”
“As I was saying,” Levi begins, glaring at Hange. “Your actions made me uncomfortable, but more than that, my own feelings made me uncomfortable. I didn’t want you to stop, Hange. And, of fucking course, I didn’t want to push you away.”
“Then why did you?” and her voice is so quiet, so small and unsure that it breaks Levi’s heart.
“Because I thought it was wrong. Because I didn’t want to betray Erwin. Because I was afraid of my feelings to you.”
“And what exactly do you feel for me?”
Levi sighs. “Are you really going to make me say it?”
“It would make all of this much easier.”
And yeah, maybe, she’s right, Levi thinks. The lack of communication did bring them into this mess.
He sighs again. “I love you, Hange. More than anything.”
“I see,” Hange whispers, lowering her head. “So kissing you was really a mistake… I’m sorry, Levi, but I can’t… we can’t do that. I can’t give you everything. I am a Queen, I have a duty to this country, and… to my husband.”
“I know that. I also have a duty, and I don’t want your everything, Hange,” Levi lifts their joined hands and presses a soft kiss on her knuckles. “I don’t wish to own you, I… just want to love you and… remain by your side.”
Hange shakes her head, swiftly raising her free hand to wipe her face. “I really don’t deserve you.”
Levi smiles. “Stupid,” he says gently. “I told you yesterday, didn’t I? You deserve the world, Hange.”
Hange slowly lifts her palm to lay it on his cheek. Levi leans into her touch, and she smiles. “I love you so much, Levi.”
That smile is so soft and yet so bright. Levi wants nothing more than to press his lips to it. “I want to kiss you,” he blurts out.
Hange raises an eyebrow. “You won’t push me away this time?”
Levi scowls. “You really won’t let me forget it so easily?”
“Of course, not!” Hange exclaims. “You broke my heart, you know?”
“Well, I wasn’t too happy about it either,” Levi grumbles, even though he feels a prick of shame and regret. He won’t let himself harm Hange ever again.
“Lucky for you, I’m ready to forgive you. On one condition.”
“Which is?”
“You have to kiss me,” Hange grins. “Real good. So good it’ll make me swoon.”
“Swoon?” Levi scoffs. “Have you been reading too much shitty novels lately?”
“If you look at it this way…” Hange begins, her grin widening. “I am a Queen and you’re my trusty knight… We are just like the characters from those stories!”
“I’m not exactly your knight. Actually, when I came here, your trusty knight wanted to run me through with a sword!”
Hange shrugs. “It just means that our story is a bit different.”
“Do you think we’ll get a happy ending?”
“That depends. Remember, you have to kiss me really good!”
“You’re insufferable,” Levi grumbles.
But who he is to argue with his Queen? He has no choice, but to kiss her.
“Mm, that was… alright,” Hange declares, when they break apart. The dazed look in her eyes tells Levi a different story, but he decides to humor her.
“Just alright? Does that mean you won’t forgive me?”
Hange looks up, putting on a thoughtful expression. “That was our initial deal, yes, but,” she grins. “I’m a rather merciful Queen. I’ll let you have another try.”
“And if I won’t succeed again?”
“Then I’ll have no choice, but to train you.”
“Truly,” Levi smirks. “Your kindness knows no bounds.”
He lays his hand onto her waist, bringing Hange closer and kissing her once more. In that moment, he feels happier than ever.
Levi’s not the most optimistic person in the world, but when Hange smiles, he’s sure that their story is indeed different. It will have a happy ending.
Tumblr media
Y/N really didn’t have much time to process what was going on when she was being woken up on Sunday. After spending all of Saturday with a group of kids to help them study at the public library. Only to come home and help Alex with his speech and work on the posters. Y/N was tired, her Saturday turned out to be busy, it didn’t help that she stayed up texting Thomas. In fact, that’s how she fell asleep. Phone on the pillow besides her head.
“Y/N!” a voice yelled out and Y/N groaned in response.
Opening an eye, she saw the time before narrowing her eyes. Who the hell was bothering her at 8 o’clock in the morning on Sunday?
“Y/N! Why the HELL are you texting Jefferson!” the voice yelled out again and this time Y/N sat up.
Seeing Alexander standing beside her bed, with her phone in his hand. Y/N’s mouth opened and closed a few times. “I mean, I’m helping him with something.” She said slowly and shrugged.
“What? Why the fuck would you do that? He’s an asshole, remember? We all agreed on that!” Alex ranted off while Y/N got up and slipped on her house slippers.
As she walked out of her room, Alex right behind her. Y/N rolled her eyes.
“No, Alex… YOU said he’s an asshole because he beat you in the debate from History class in sophomore year!” she narrowed her eyes at her brother. Knowing full well their parents and friends were around and listening to them. “He never did shit to me. I ignored him so I wouldn’t put up with your bullshit complaining.”
“Now wait a minute….”
But Y/N never let him finish. “If the shoe fits wear it, Alex. You are the biggest drama queen I know. And I’m around cheerleaders all the time!”
Thanking her mom for the vitamin shake, she kissed her parents cheeks before turning around and heading back to her bedroom. Ignoring the boys as they tried to hide their laughter.
Y/N: ‘Wanna meet up to go over the plans?’ T. Jeff: ‘Thought you were gonna relax today? We can plan another day.’
Y/N found herself smiling at the text and stopped looking for an outfit to wear for the day to reply.
Y/N: ‘Well, Alex found out we’re talking. Got pissy… I need a distraction.’ T. Jeff: ‘Alright… stop by my house and we can plan. Thanks for this again.’
After they finished texting, Y/N pulled on some black skinny jeans and her black booties. A red tank top and black jacket over it. Deciding to add a colorful scarf along. With minimal makeup, just mascara, some concealer and lipstick (after brushing her teeth), Y/N made sure to spray some perfume.
As soon as Y/N was ready, she grabbed her purse and made sure to chuck her phone into the small bag before putting the strap around her shoulder. Placing sunglasses over her eyes, Y/N left her room and ignored the boys who were all sitting around the living room.
After leaving the cup she had taken to her room in the sink in the kitchen, she passed by the boys again to walk towards the front door.
“Hey! Y/N, where you going?”
“Oui, mon ange… why not stay with us?”
Y/N smiled at Hercules and Lafayette; she could always trust those two to want to hang out with her. “Sorry boys, I have plans.” She smiled waving. “But, lets get coffee tomorrow before school?” she raised an eyebrow and grinned at them.
Walking out of the house, to her car. Y/N froze when Alex called out to her.
“Tell me you aren’t going to see Jeffershit?” he asked, and Y/N had to bit down on her lip to not go off on Alex.
“Actually, I am. I promised I’d help him plan something. That’s what I plan on doing.” She sent her brother a fake smile before getting into her car.
“Oh, COME ON! He’s….” but Alex stopped talking when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Y/N glanced over and saw John was speaking to Alex. By the look on the boys face, he was not happy. Which made Y/N grin and nod to John who glanced at her.
Backing the car out of the driveway, Y/N was soon driving to the Jefferson’s house. The GPS in her car turned on and guiding her. Not that it took long, ten minutes later she was pulling up to a gate and she had to stop herself from laughing.
Pressing on the intercom button. Y/N waited. “How may I help you?” she heard a voice and with a sigh, Y/N leaned her head out the window.
“I’m here to see Thomas Jeffershi…. Uh Jefferson. My name is Y/N Hamilton.” She shook her head and waited a few more seconds before the gates opened.
Driving forward, Y/N finally parked in front of the house and got out. Rolling her eyes when she saw Thomas leaning against the front door frame with a house robe, slippers and his hair a mess.
“Jesus… you could have told me you weren’t even ready for the day!” Y/N laughed when stepping out of the car. Glancing at her watch on her wrist, it was just past 9:30.
Watching Thomas shrug, he grinned. “It seemed like you needed to get out of the house. Come on, breakfast is getting cold.” He nodded only to stand up straight as Y/N walked up the steps and finally reaching the front door.
“Breakfast? Trying to get on my good side, Tommy?” she wiggled her eyebrows and laughed at the scowl on his face at the nickname she called him.
“That ain’t cute. Don’t call me that, sweetheart.” He stepped inside and waited till Y/N was in before closing the door.
After breakfast, the two making small talk about what they did on Saturday. Y/N finding out that Thomas was at football practice almost all day, while she was tutoring all day before helping her brother.
“Can he not do his own speech?” Thomas asked and raised an eyebrow.
“Uh, he does. But he has all of us over and hear it to make sure it sounds good… so it’s us sitting around, making his posters while he reads for six hours.” Y/N shrugged. The two laughed.
Once the food was devoured, Thomas showed Y/N around the house, only to stop at the backyard. “This is where I was thinking of having the party. Lots of space, my parents love barbeques, so we could do something simple, not too fancy.” He suggested, watching as Y/N had out a small notebook and pen. Writing down ideas, only to glance down and see she had done a simple sketch of his backyard.
The sketch was simple, it had the huge pool, the lots of space and the trees. “Right, so we could do something at night… we string up lights and balloons...” she spoke softly, walking around and looking at everything and down at her notepad. “Twenty-five years represents silver… so that would be lovely. It would be in December as well. So perfect for the wintertime.” She went on, not noticing the smile Thomas had on his face as he watched her.
After a few more minutes, she set down her things and turned to Thomas, grinning. “What?” she asked, laughing quietly under her breath.
“Nothing… it’s just. You are so adorable when you plan. It’s like you forget about everything. You get a cute smile on your face as well.” He shrugged, on to notice the light pink spreading on her cheeks. “Are…. Are you blushing?” he stepped forward and Y/N shook her head.
“Whaaaat… no.”
Gulping slightly, watching Thomas, Y/N snapped out of whatever trance he had her in and turned around. “Right, uh…” she blinked a few times, trying to think of what to even say.
“Come on, lets hang out a bit. Then I’ll treat you to dinner. You know, for being so kind to help me.”
With that, the two spent the next few hours laughing and watching tv. Talking about school, Thomas’ trip to Paris and spending a whole year there.
A little past 6:30 that evening, they agreed on a pizza place to have dinner at and left the house.
Never in a million years would Y/N have thought that she would spend a whole day with Thomas Jefferson and actually enjoy herself.
»»-———— ♡ ————-««
The next day when Y/N, Lafayette and Hercules were walking towards the football field, Y/N dressed in her cheer workout clothes. Which was just a pair of plain black leggings, a hot pink crop sports bra and her white tennis shoes. Her H/C hair was up in a ponytail. They were each complaining about the last class with Professor George Frederick. The big-headed idiot who thought too much of himself. That and his love for giving as much homework as he possibly can.
“It’s like he wants us to get held back!” Hercules was complaining and frowning as they sat down on the beachers and Y/N passing her bag and jacket over to them.
“It’ll be alright!” She laughed and winked at the two before jogging over to the girls. Only to turn quickly on her heal when someone called out her name.
Sadly, for Y/N, the grass of the field was slightly wet and as she turned, she slipped the slightest and was about to fall. Only the fall never came. Two hands grabbed onto her waist and her own hands grabbed onto a muscular set of arms.
With a gasp, eyes wide as she looked at the man in front of her. Her body feeling like she was shocked from the touch. Y/N watched as the skin where she had grabbed onto, had handprints that matched hers. The print slowly disappearing before her eyes and so her E/C eyes looked into the wide, brown eyed male who held onto her.
She focused on his eyes, which were darting back and fourth, shining in the sunlight. They were a deep, earthy brown- the intense gaze making it, so Y/N held her breath.
“Alexander is going to kill me…” Y/N said softly, a small smile coming onto her lips.
Thomas just grinned at the girl and he shrugged. “Not if he kills me first.” Was his response before he leaned down and captured her lips against his.
The dreams now made sense, why she kept dreaming of Thomas since he came back. The pull towards him whenever they were together. He was her soulmate, the one she was supposed to be with.
Cheering could be heard from the girls, the football team whistling and hooting. Y/N could even hear Lafayette and Hercules laughing and singing about how Alexander ‘ain’t gonna be happy now’ not that any of that mattered.
Wrapping her arms around Thomas shoulders, fingers making their way into his curly hair. Y/N pressed herself closer to his body as the kiss deepened.
Monday, who would have thought that Mondays would be Y/N’s new favorite day of the week?
Answers at last! Well, I saw answers... :D
Chapter 7: So We Meet Again
The Library, 52nd Century
“Sorry, am I interrupting something?“ A male figure appeared in their midst. Dark hair and beard, stout frame, he took a twirl, looking around, delighted at the surprise and shock on everyone’s faces.
“It’s can’t be…“ River mumbled, trying to catch up with what was happening. How did he get in here? He was not part of the memory.
“It’s been a while, Professor Song.“ He turned to face her with a wide grin, baring his teeth.
“He’s not the Doctor, is he?“ Anita spoke slowly. She had learned enough about Time Lords during their extensive research to understand about regeneration and River had shown her pictures of all her husband’s faces. That man was not one of them and even on first impressions, he seemed in no way similar to the man she herself had met. He certainly didn’t look at River like someone would look at their wife, he looked at her like she was prey.
“The Doctor? Oh, don’t be ridiculous.“ He nearly burst out laughing as if it was the funniest thing he had heard all day. “Been there, done that, just wasn’t my cup of tea.“ His voice turned to a snarl, it seemed to change ever so slightly; he shushed himself.
“No, this is another Time Lord.“ River said, balling her hands to fists, trying to maintain her composure.
“Of course you get it, you’re clever like that.“ He mused, tilting his head. “I’m difficult to forget, didn’t we have he best of times.“ He interrupted himself, his voiced higher and more excitable. He smirked with a mad sort of glee in his eyes. “No, no, shut up, it’s my turn now!“ His voice turned normal as he snapped angrily. Anita and CAL exchanged confused and worried glances, fearing they might be dealing with a mad man. River, however, already knew for a fact that they were:
“You’re the Eleven.“ She circled around the room slowly, coming to stand protectively in front of CAL and Anita. She didn’t know whether he was really here or just a projection, but she couldn’t take the risk. She had to keep them safe. They had no idea who they were dealing with.
“The Thirteen, actually, but who’s counting.“ He retorted graciously and took a little bow.
“Must be getting pretty crowded in that head of yours.“ River hummed and in response, another personality emerged:
“Long time no see, Ms. Song.“ His face contorted into a grin.
“Hello again, Nine.“ River remained calm. She knew it was the best way to deal with them.
“I don’t think we’ve had the pleasure.“ His voice turned higher, almost feminine.
“Twelve?“ River could only guess, as it was the regeneration of his she hadn’t met before.
“Shut up, the lot of you.“ The Thirteen regained control of his personalities. “Sorry, this is not how I was going to introduce myself, best foot forward and all that, but they’re just so excited to see you again. The Six, in particular, is very eager but we’ll save that for later.“ He smiled apologetically.
“What are you doing here? How did you get in?“ River decided to ignore the games and cut right to the chase. She glanced to CAL, hoping she was paying attention. If they found out how he got in, they surely would be able to get rid of him as well. She would have to regain control of the computer.
“Seven hacked the system, child’s play really; and now I can see why.“ He smirked at CAL who took a fearful step back and Anita put a protective arm around her. “I’m not really here, of course, just a projection, but I liked the personal touch. Better than talking to a screen, you know?“ River felt a little better for knowing he wasn’t actually part of the artificial world of the Library core but hacking the system was just as bad. Who knew what else he was planning on doing?
“So you’re responsible for this?“ Anita concluded gesturing around to the woman and child that had stopped moving. She hadn’t really followed who exactly he was but it was was blatantly obvious that this scary vision was his doing.
“It’s from the Matrix.“ River stated and the Thirteen grinned:
“Indeed. I didn’t really have the means to play it. I needed a bigger computer, something able to convert it. And I needed someone who’d be able to interpret it.“
“So you used the Library, a computer big enough to handle Matrix data.“ River was beginning to understand. They weren’t her memories that had bled into the artificial reality. It was data the Thirteen had fed into the system. In turn it had helped her unlock her own memories of what she’d seen in the Matrix. “What is that memory? What’s the story behind it.“ She asked, drawing his attention back as he seemed momentarily distracted. Not by his other personalities, for once, but seemingly by something outside.
“A missing puzzle piece.“ He answered briefly and gave a dismissive wave with his hand. “Now we best get going.“
“What?“ Anita asked confused while River remained silent, her mind racing. What was he planning? She knew better than to underestimate the renegade Time Lord.
“The shadows will be back in a moment.“ He explained in an off-hand sort of way. “Get your coat, Professor Song. Oh wait, you haven’t got a body to put it on.“ He laughed, then disappeared.
“River…“ CAL reached out for River’s hand but she grasped into thin air, River was gone as well.
Glasgow, 2021
“So this is where you went once the Daleks were gone?“ Ryan asked Jack as they started walking further into the underground building.
“Had to go say hi to Gwen here and she filled me in on what’s been going on. I’ve been out in the universe too long it seems. Time to look after the home front.“ Jack explained with a determined nod and Kate smiled:
“We’re glad to have you, Captain.“
“How many people have you got here.“ Graham looked around, marvelling at the size of the place. It could have housed a hundred easily and there was an erie quality to it with how quiet and seemingly empty it was.
“Not as many as you’d hope. Friends of the Doctor’s it’s quite an exclusive club, but it’s not quantity, it’s quality.“ Kate answered leading the way.
“So how do you know the Doctor?“ Ryan asked Gwen who was walking alongside him.
“Only met him briefly, during one Dalek invasion or another. Honestly, it all blends together.“ She chuckled.
“Ms. Cooper is one of Torchwood’s finest.“ Kate interjected and Gwen sighed:
“And only remaining member…“
“Hey!“ Jack took offence and elbowed her.
“You don’t count, you’re off doing other stuff all the time.“ Gwen slapped his shoulder affectionately and carried on to explain: “I have been trying to rebuild the Torchwood Three hub as well, seeing as it’s closer to home, but it’s slow progress.“
“Torchwood, like UNIT, is like an agency, is it? To ward of aliens?“ Graham asked, trying to wrap his head around it.
“In a nutshell, yes.“ Kate nodded as she lead them down some stairs. “If you come through here, I will introduce you to the rest of the team.“ The steps opened up into a large room. “I know it’s late but they have been waiting up for you.“ They reached a big communal living and working area. There were several tables, desks, computers and such and amongst it all: four people.
“Mr. O’Brien, Mr. Sinclair, let me introduce Dr. Martha Jones and Mr. Mickey Smith, two of UNIT’s finest field agents and former travelling companions of the Doctor’s.“ Kate gesture towards a couple who were lounging on a sofa, currently devouring a Chinese take away with great enthusiasm.
“Nice to finally meet you.“ Martha smiled at them warmly and Mickey, his mouth full of food, couldn’t speak and just gave a wave with his chopsticks. They got up to shake hands as the group approached.
“Likewise, I guess.“ Graham managed an awkward smile as well. During their travels with the Doctor, they had never really stopped to think how many more people had taken trips in the TARDIS before them. It was strange to think that there were other people out there who would understand what it was like, experiencing the vastness of the universe like they had.
“And these are the Osgoods, the scientific hearts and minds of UNIT.“ Kate carried on and gestured to two women, apparently twins, who were sharing a work station. They simultaneously looked up and smiled in greeting.
“I’m Ryan, this is my granddad Graham.“ Ryan introduced them. “We don’t usually do, like, formal…“ He looked around the room awkwardly. This was a lot more official than he was used to. “Like if you don’t mind, first names are fine.“ Graham nodded in agreement.
“Petronella.“ One to the Osgoods smiled.
“Petronella.“ The other Osgood smiled.
“So… you two have the same name? How do we keep you apart?“ Graham asked, confused, wondering what their parents had possibly been thinking.
“You don’t.“ Kate answered in amusement. “That’s the whole point.“
“Right.“ Ryan decided it was best to just accept that. They had just been recruited into a secret organisation to fight of extraterrestrial threats and entered what looked like a very fancy underground bunker… identical twins with the same names really wasn’t top of the weird-list right now.
“Care for some Chinese?“ Mickey offered. They had ordered way too much as usual.
“Don’t mind if we do.“ Graham grinned since they hadn’t had time to eat before setting of on the long drive. He had been eyeing it up, hoping that was where the evening would be going.
“Ma’am, if we might have a word…“ One for the Osgoods demanded Kate’s attention as everyone else settled down to eat.
“What is it?“ The UNIT chief asked and walked around the desk to be able to look at their computer screens.
“We have found another two bodies.“ The other Osgood answered, pointing something out on the computer and Kate frowned:
“Same MO?“ She asked, leaning closer.
“We fine-tuned the algorithm, running through police data bases and found two matches.“ Osgood confirmed.
“Where?“
“Greater London.“ The other Osgood answered. “Pulled out of a lake. It was fortunate that a couple was walking nearby and spotted movement by the water. Otherwise they wouldn’t have been found for weeks probably.“
“Captain?“ Kate looked up to Jack who was currently recounting to Gwen, Martha and Mickey how he had met Ryan and Graham. “Two for pick up.“ She announced.
“On it, will be back in a flash.“ He gave a dazzling and apologetic smile to the others and came to join Kate and the Osgoods. “Just tell me which morgue they’re in and you’ll have them on your slab momentarily.“ He looked at the screen and skimmed the report.
“So… not just people disappearing from time, murders too?“ Graham asked, listening in.
“This is not your garden variety homicide, I’m afraid, Mr. O’Brian.“ Kate retorted thoughtfully. “You’ll see when the Captain returns with the bodies.“
Jack gave a nod and engaged his Vortex Manipulator.
Orbit around the Library, 52nd Century
“Here we go.“ Jenny slipped her hand into her wife’s. She had a bad feeling about this but it couldn’t be helped. They had come out of hyper speed a few minutes ago and had fallen into orbit around the Library.
“A whole planet full of books?“ Yaz couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer size of it. The idea of having every book ever written together in one place was overwhelming and beautiful.
“And shadows that can kill…“ Dorium couldn’t help but point out. The idea that a world so beautiful was forever lost made Yaz’s heart feel heavy. What a waste.
“Right, here’s what we’re going to do: your UV grenades, Strax: our best bet would be to send one down ahead of us.“ Vastra looked to her butler who grinned with excitement as he proudly presented the grenades. “We arm ourselves to the teeth with torches and such. We won’t have to stay long. Just contact the Professor, ask our questions, fill her in, and be on our way.“ Vastra gave her wife’s hand a reassuring squeeze and looked around the room into determined faces. “Strax, Jenny and I will go.“
“I want to come, too!“ Yaz insisted immediately, she thought herself just as capable as any of them and she didn’t want to be left behind.
“That’s not part of the plan.“ Vastra shook her head.
“I have been in tight spots with the Doctor as well, I can handle myself.“ Yaz retorted, frustrated.
“I don’t doubt that but someone needs to teleport us back. Mr. Maldovar sadly won’t be able to.“ Vastra pointed out. She had no doubts about Yaz’s ability to hold her own but they needed someone to stay behind. She refused to be split up from her wife and Strax was best placed to handle the weapons equipment. It was the logical solution. “We all have a job to do and we need you to keep us safe from up here.“ She carried on to explain.
“Fine.“ Yaz huffed after brief consideration. “Doesn’t mean I like it though.“ She could see her point but she still felt like she was being sidelined.
“We will be back in no time.“ Vastra assured her.
“Right, let’s get this over with… before I change my mind.“ Jenny sighed feeling anxious. She ran her hand along the hilt of her sword despite knowing it would be useless against shadows.
“Oh, well that’s a surprise.“ Dorium pipped up, drawing everyone’s attention.
“What is it?“ Vastra frowned, confused.
“There is an incoming transmission! Someone in that Library is trying to reach out.“ Dorium explained quickly. He closed his eyes, trying to focus with the help of the communications chip connected to him.
“How do they even know we’re here?“ Vastra asked, worried. That didn’t feel right.
“Beats going amongst the shadows, doesn’t it.“ Jenny pointed out and Strax huffed in disappointment:
“I have been looking forward to this for hours…“
“Put it on screen.“ Vastra ignored his complaint and turned to the large screen at the front of the ship. Yaz turned Dorium’s box around so he could see as well.
“River! River! Where are you!“ A small girl appeared on the screen, looking distraught. She couldn’t be older than ten years old, taking everyone by surprise. “Who are you?“ She demanded to know before any of them could get over their shock. Her eyes jumped between all of them. Her message clearly hadn’t been meant for them.
“I’m Madame Vastra, these are Jenny Flint, Strax, Yasmin Kahn and Dorium Maldovar. We mean you no harm.“ Vastra raised her hands appeasingly, trying to reassure her. What was a little girl doing in the Library? And why was she looking for River Song? “You were calling for River, I can only presume you mean Professor Song, we’re here to talk to her.“ Vastra carried on, hoping to explain and gain her trust. She seemed scared.
“You’re too late.“ The girl sobbed, getting more upset.
“What?“ Yaz asked, with a frown. They all exchanged confused glances.
“She just left, I was trying to reach her but it drains the power, so much energy…“ The screen flickered. There was a blip in the transmission, it wasn’t stable.
“Hang on, hang on, you’re in the computer?“ Vastra asked to clarify.
“I am the computer.“ The girl answered, taking a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She was not as little as she looked. “I’m CAL.“
“And Professor Song, she’s not with you anymore?“ Jenny deduced and her heart sank. This was the one eventuality they had not been prepared for.
“She was taken.“ CAL confirmed, nodding, wiping her tears away.
“By whom?“ Vastra gripped the back of the pilot’s chair and dug her claws into the fabric. Wherever they turned, it seemed as though they were one step behind.
“A Time Lord.“ CAL answered, after brief consideration, seemingly deciding to trust them.
“What did he look like? Did he give a name?“ Yaz asked quickly.
“He called himself the Thirteen.“ The girl said quickly, as the transmission stalled again. “I’m sorry, I can’t maintain this much longer. Why are you looking for River?“
“We’re friends of the Doctor’s. There are some terrible things going on out in the universe and we need to talk to her.“ Vastra rushed to explain.
“Please find her, he… “
The connection broke and for a moment, there was stunned silence.
“How is that possible?“ Yaz turned to the others, slowly finding her voice again. “You can’t just, like, download a consciousness onto a USB stick or something…“
“Don’t underestimate Time Lord technology…“ Vastra mused, mulling over what they had learned. This was far worse than facing the Vashta Nerada. They had fallen another step behind in a race in which the goal posts seemed to keep moving.
“We need to find her.“ Jenny said, shaking her head to herself. If only they had been a little earlier, they could have prevented this.
“Who’s the Thirteen?“ Yaz looked around the room, hoping for an explanation. Was this another of the Doctor’s enemies she didn’t know about?
“Doesn’t mean anything to me either, I was hopeful you might have come across them?“ Vastra retorted with a frown as they exchanged confused glances. They had each assumed the other would have the answers but the alias was familiar to any of them.
“Oh no…“ Dorium mumbled, drawing everyone’s attention.
“Can you shed some light on this, Mr. Maldovar?“ Vastra asked, turning his box around to face them again.
“I’ve heard of a Time Lord that goes my numerical designations… The Nine, the Ten, the Eleven… depending on which regeneration he is on…“ He answered slowly. The reluctance in his voice gave them all pause.
“Stands to reason this is a new regeneration then?“ Yaz nodded, relieved that they weren’t completely in the dark after all.
“Why change the name though with every regeneration? Must be quite… disorienting, mustn’t it?“ Jenny asked.
“He is a very unique case…“ Dorium hummed thoughtfully.
“How so?“ Vastra could already tell she wouldn’t like the answer but she asked anyway.
“From what I have heard, he suffers from a strange affliction… called regenerative dissonance. While the Doctor and other Time Lords retain a sense of self and just change their appearance, he becomes a new person every time and when he regenerates, the other selfs are still present.“ Dorium revealed. He had never actually met them but he had heard enough stories to make sure he never would.
“Like a schizophrenic?“ Yaz asked, unsettled. That didn't sound like the kind of person they wanted to be dealing with.
“Anything else you can tell us, Mr. Maldovar?“ Vastra asked and Dorium gave a wary smile:
“He is a thief, a killer and utterly mad.“
——
The TARDIS
“Do you always leave the door open like that? Anyone could wander in.“ The Doctor found the Master leaning against the console as she reached the control room. Dark hair and beard, stout frame, he hadn’t regenerated, just looked a little worse for wear.
“Master…“ Her voice was barely above a whisper. All sorts of emotions boiled up in her: Disbelief at finding him alive. Worry for having him inside her TARDIS. Hate for all the things he had put her through.
“Hello, Doctor.“ He smirked pushing off the console to step closer. “Nice of you to finally show up.“
“How are you not dead?“ It was the most prominent question on the Doctor’s mind.
“Dying is for other people, dear.“ The Master laughed at how ridiculous that notion was.
“How did you survive the death particle?“ She pressed through gritted teeth as they started circling each other slowly. She was assessing her option for subduing him.
“Did you really think the Cyberium would let its host die?“ The Master’s grin was patronising, as if the answer had been obvious.
“Is it still inside you?“ The Doctor hadn’t even thought about the Cybermen AI that resided inside the Master. She had assumed it dealt with, just like the Master themselves but she should have known they wouldn’t be that easily destroyed.
“Nah… Fizzled out.“ He gave a dismissive wave with his hand. “The effort of creating a force field to protect me was a bit much… Plus, I expelled it and electrocuted it until it stopped moving. I was getting fed up of sharing my memory space.“ He snickered and the Doctor couldn't help but feel a little relieved; one thing she didn’t have to deal with at least.
“You’ve been here this entire time?“ She questioned.
“Where was I gonna go? I destroyed everything! No TARDISes, no space ships left… I did start fixing up a TARDIS but turns out your death particle wiped out the organic components in there as well. I’d have to grow a new one but where to start when every living thing has been destroyed!“ He started rambling in a maniacal sort of way, snapping with increasing anger.
“How long has it been?“ The Doctor asked, hoping he had at least suffered in the meantime. She wasn’t proud of it but after everything he had done to her, she felt he deserved it.
“Oh… a few years, blink of an eye. Ten, twenty? Not sure. Anyway, nice of you to turn up.“ He smirked and his eyes flickered to her reaching for something on the console. “Oh no, you don’t!“ He snapped and pointed the Doctor’s own sonic at her. That’s when she remembered leaving her coat; what a stupid thing to do. And to leave the door unlocked… “So why are you here, Doctor?“ He asked as she raised her hands appeasingly.
“To see if you’re still alive.“ She answered slowly.
“Well I am. What difference does it make to you?“ He snarled.
“And you haven’t left Gallifrey?“ She carried on, hoping to at least get her answers.
“I already told you, are you going soft in the head?“ He snapped.
The Doctor remained silent, unsure how to respond. Should she believe him? Did he have reason to lie? But why would he be back here if he had managed to escape in the meantime?
“And what’s this, Doctor?“ The Master demanded her attention again and held out another item he had found in the pocket of her coat: the green prayer leaf.
“Give that back.“ The Doctor exclaimed, quick to anger. She tried to snatch it off him but he pulled away, putting the sonic between them again.
“Oh, is it personal by any chance?“ He hummed, delighted.
“Give it here.“ The Doctor’s voice turned low and threatening. In her mind, she ran through the possibilities of what the Master could do with her sonic in here. There was so much sensitive technology, a blast at the wrong thing and they could either be thrown into the vortex or explode.
“A prayer leaf from the Gamma Forests if I’m not mistaken… traditional gift for a child… tell me, Doctor, are congratulations in order?“ The Master was quick on his feet as always.
“That’s none of your business.“ The Doctor bit back.
“I take that as a yes. But where is the little devil? And where is the wife?“ He asked feigning surprise. “I presume it is the Professor’s child, isn’t it? Not a little bastard born out of wedlock?“
“Hand that over.“ The Doctor demanded again, holding her hand out.
“No, I think I’ll keep it for the time being. Return it to the little one myself… Like Maleficent taking a gift to little Aurora. Why don’t we go see them.“ He suggested circling around towards the console but the Doctor didn’t move away, instead she stepped right up to him. “Come on, Doctor, I know how much you like your Disney movies. That was funny.“
“Where is he?“ She demanded to know, ignoring his giggling.
“Who?“ The Master frowned.
“My son!“ The Doctor practically yelled, losing her temper at last.
“Ohhh so he is missing? Let me guess, someone took him while you weren’t looking?“ The Master grinned and the Doctor couldn’t tell whether he was pretending not to know anything or if he really didn’t. “Was he getting ice cream across the street and a stranger snatching him away?“
“Don’t play dumb with me, Dorium saw you, you have something to do with this!“ The Doctor wasn’t thinking now. Anger and pain were overshadowing her rational thoughts.
“Dorium? Doesn’t ring a bell…“ The Master shrugged, unimpressed.
“You told him about the Timeless Child, that’s how this whole thing started!“ The Doctor yelled and gave him a shove.
“The Timeless Child? Why would I tell anyone about that dirty secret? Give you all that power? Elevate you? I don’t think so, that secret died with the Time Lords and it’ll die with you.“ The Master spat, suddenly furious as well. They were done doing their dance and playing games.
“You and me are the only people who know about it and I sure as hell haven’t told anyone!“ The Doctor snarled stepping into his personal space again. She wasn’t scared of him anymore. He had no power over her.
“Why would I tell anyone?“ The Master seemed genuinely disbelieving of her accusations. “I killed everyone that could possibly have known about it. And I’m gonna kill you, too.“ He jabbed his finger at her.
“You just try.“ The Doctor pressed through gritted teeth. “Where is my son?!“ She shoved him again and he stumbled backward.
“I haven’t got the faintest idea.“ The Master laughed and the Doctor could tell he was speaking the truth. It threw her for a moment, until a more horrifying idea occurred to her: What if she was just enabling this whole series of events to start? What if she was the reason the Master managed to get off Gallifrey? What if this was how he found out about her child, about Dorium, about the whole thing?
So, just to clarify, the Thirteen (well their previous regenerations), plays a huge part in the Eighth Doctor's audios but you really don't have to know them to (hopefully) follow this story. I fully intend to write it like he's a new character and weave all the information necessary into the plot as everyone else, the Paternoster Gang in particular, learn about him. Originally, I intended to just use Time Lord OCs but as I thought about it, I realised how pointless that would be seeing as there are so many interesting Time Lords in the extended canon. So, if anything is difficult to follow, please let me know! <3
