Hi! Do you think you could write some head cannons for Pota Maurice, like reader trying to befriend him and wanting to be around him a lot (platonically)
have a nice day :)
[Maurice and reader friendship headcanons!]
Summary: Maurice comes to accept you as a loving companion despite his previous doubts.
Warnings: None! Platonic friendship with Maurice!
A/N: I was so excited to see this request that I immediately did it. Whoops. I hope this is good!! I love Maurice so bad, I see him as a friend that kinda takes on the role of dad.
Maurice out of the entire ape council is the best suited to become friends with.
He has his fair bit of trauma related to humans and at first, he is hesitant to let you near him, he respects Caesar undoubtedly, but the deep rooted fear still exists within him, the abuse and punishments still fresh in memory.
But the orangutan has a good sense of character, so when you're taken in by the colony per Caesar's allowance, it's only natural that he places you with the calmest of the apes.
The way to win Maurice's favor is easy, treat him with respect and treat the small apes he teaches with respect. That's really all he asks.
Don't touch him without permission, and don't try and be forceful. He'll come to you when he's ready. He knows you have good intentions!
You can not buy his friendship, but finding him berries and herbs that he can eat will soften him to you and eventually boom, you're one of Maurice's friends now.
He doesn't care for meat like the others, so the fact that you've gone out of your way to help him find stuff to his taste makes him warm up to you all the more.
He doesn't mind that you tend to cling to him. Honestly, he's gonna see you as a kid. He can't help it. You're new to the colony, no friends or family, so he decides he'll be the one to be your family.
He'll drag you along to classes he teaches, asking for your help. You, of course, know a lot more human words than he does, and with your help, teaching goes a lot more efficiently, more apes learn the better.
Maurice expects you to eat with him at dinner, waving you over with his hand when he sees you awkwardly stand around. You have him. You're fine.
It's usually Maurice and Caesar who dine together and they can smell the anxiety radiating off of you, so they try and make conversation for your sake, their hands sign slow for you to read with ease.
'Take more berries.'
"I'm fine! This is plenty, than-"
Cue Maurice giving you a look that is pretty much saying it's not up for debate. Take the damn berries. You're not gonna go hungry.
Fast forwarding to War, everyone knows you as Maurice's companion, and it's due to you that Nova is able to travel with you all.
Maurice can't help but see parts of you in her, small and alone, just like all those years ago.
You, Malcolm, and his family have proven that the cruel and sadistic humans that he once dealt with were a minority.
So he gives Nova a chance and is happy when you accept her without thought, immediately forming a friendship with the young girl.
It makes him ever wonder why he disliked humans before then, the circus and the army soldiers being long forgotten due to you.

for the ask meme, your thoughts on the following for the terror?
💛❤💚💕
💛 (a popular ship you can't get behind): hickeytozer. very much regrettably, because i know there's some great meta and fanworks out there, but romantically they just don't compel me. i think it's because, with hickey, i like to see him in ships that have him on more of a back foot (hickeygoodsir rattles my brain!). i like hickeytozer interactions where it's more tozer realising that the self-help group he signed up to is now out for his blood
❤ (which character is the most egregiously mischaracterised by fandom): i think a lot of people use franklin as the Designated Evil White Man which is frustrating both because historically and in the show he's pretty empathetic with the men, if misguided, and they like him back! also, it really misses the broader point of the show that all the men are evil because they are tools of imperialism. individually, they are kind, decent men, but the system makes them monsterous and the native population suffers for it. by pinning all the expedition problems on franklin, it removes so much of this. to be fair, i don't think this is, like, an endemic issue, but i've seen it enough to irk me
💚 (what does everyone else get wrong about your favorite character): *blasted at 100% volume* edward little is a COMPETENT and GOOD lieutenant!! he's been shafted with crozier at his most miserable and destructive, he's dealing with a spirit bear, and he's still empathetic to the men, advocates for them, and endeavors to get as many home as he can! way too many people seem to think he's this trembling dog that will die if spoken to and is unable to lead in any capacity and i just don't believe it! to be fair, i think with characterisations surrounding little or jopson or characters like them, it's more difficult because they don't really have a lot of screen time, and with little especially, we see him reacting to things, not really introspection
💕 (what is an unpopular ship that you like): there are three that i feel very compelled by that have relatively few work imo. 1) hickeygoodsir, because goodsir's ability to just cut right though hickey's farces is incredibly and hickey enjoys that so much! perception of the other (derogatory), 2) hickeyirving, because wow irving, you seem to have a lot of unexplored issues about sexuality and all of this seems to come to the forefront when you talk with hickey, what's up with that?, and 3) irving and his bestest friend in the whole wide world, william elphinstone malcolm. the Historic Basis drives me crazy (their letters to each other are so so intimate and sweet); boyhood friends to situationship to "i will wait the rest of my life waiting for you to come home despite my knowledge that it's futile"; this man is, like, the origin of irivng's sexual crisis and i love it and i wish more people wrote about them. signed, your very affectionate friend by blazeofglory is an absolutely incredible duology speculating on this relationship and how irving views it and i would highly, highly recommend!

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...
Sure! (given in no particular order)
1. Daichi from Haikyuu, of course.. I just love everything about him. He's a great captain and he has a big appetite and he's so down to earth and masculine in the best ways, what a man!!! I want a tattoo of him on my body!
2. Pam Poovey from Archer. It's hard to stand out in a show where nearly every character is the single most interesting person in the world but I really do think that Pam takes the cake. She's a real one. She stays true to herself no matter how much everyone else begs her to stop and I RESPECT THAT. Also she's a fat character who isn't limited to being the Fat Character. While her weight does come up, often in insulting jokes or bits, she has so much else to her that it feels like such a small part of her character.
3. Princess Carolyn from Bojack Horseman. Out of all the insanely good character arcs in Bojack Horseman, Princess Carolyn's is my favorite. Usually the hardworking career woman character who wants a baby winds up the most disappointing character for me because she always gives up her career to be a mom but NOT MY GIRL PRINCESS CAROLYN. She said I want to be a badass boss lady AND a mom and I don't need no man to get what I want! And she did that shit. She deserves it.
4. Linda Belcher from Bob's Burgers. I aspire to be like Linda. She's fun, she's extroverted, she is just so excited to live her modest life with a struggling burger business, a husband she actually enjoys spending time with, and 3 kids she adores with every fiber of her being. She sings and dances at any given opportunity and doesnt let embarrassment faze her. What an icon.
5. Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings. Every time I think of him I wanna cry. He's just so.... perfect.... and wonderful.... He is the sweetest, bravest man to ever exist and NOBODY CAN ARGUE. The original Ride or Die. We all need a Samwise Gamgee in our lives. 🖤
6. Usopp from One Piece. That's my boy! He's so funny and relatable. I love characters who are brave while being terrified. Despite his wacky goofy personality, he's complex and insecure but he stands by his guns and isn't afraid to challenge even his best friend/captain to defend what he believes and GOSH what a stand up guy ammiright?
7. Eleanor Shellstrop from The Good Place. I love a disaster of a woman. She's a selfish bisexual with zero shame, what's more to love? I just can't help it. I'm weak for women who are just The Worst ™️.
8. Manny from Swiss Army Man. I mean... He's dead, he teaches us what it means to be alive, and he's played by Daniel Radcliffe. He's basically the perfect character, right? Listen, Swiss Army Man is my all time favorite movie and I want everyone else to like it too. I can't even talk much on it because it's so much better when you watch it yourself. Especially if you love amazing soundtracks, beautiful visuals, and queer revelations.
9. Hal from Malcolm in the Middle. I'm such a sucker for husbands who are obsessed with their wives and men in touch with their emotions and Hal is the epitome of both those things! I watched this show while growing up and I truly think that Bryan Cranston's portrayal of Hal taught me how men are supposed to act, especially in regards to their romantic partners. And now my own partner is basically a less theatrical version of him so it paid off ya know?
10. Judas Iscariot from Jesus Christ Superstar (1973). This is mainly based on performance. Carl Anderson did such an AMAZING job playing Judas that he literally stole the show, imo. Jesus who? You mean Judas's boyfriend? It's not JUST his performance though, the way the character is written is so well done that I feel like Judas is the real main character. Yeah, this is the story about Jesus but he ain't the star, ya dig? He's a basic bitch in comparison to the complexity and emotional turmoil of Judas. Also they're gay and in love, what a tragedy! This is cinema!

Good day. Question about Milo's romance. I really like him, but I can't build a relationship with a polyamorous character. I don't want to be a part of it, much less know that my partner has someone else. Can't MC and Milo talk about it in the next book? Tell him, that you are monogamous only. As an author, you must understand that this is totally unfair for those who romanced Milo for the whole game, wanting to be with him (not with him AND Malcolm), helped him overcome his grief, but as soon as Malcolm return, he immediately fell in love with him again? This is considered as a cheating for a monogamous partner. Please think about this during your break and I hope you can write Milo's solo route. I dont want to say goodbye to your game, it is interesting, but I will not be able to close my eyes to what causes me pain and discomfort. In advance for all the poly lovers, I'm happy for you, but I have the right to speak, thank you.
Hey anon,
You have the right to speak for sure and I want to say thank you for sending this in. I cannot say I am surprised because I knew there was going to be some discourse around this decision. However, I also have the right as an author to write the story I wish to write.
So, here is the thing. Monogamy within the Night Market does not have the intense value that it has here within our world and culture. No one cares who you are sleeping with or if you are monogamous or not. That being said, if your personal decision for your MC is to be monogamous, that is a great little flavor text and head cannon you can have for your MC. And, I have routes where there are RO's who do believe in that. If Milo not being monogamous is not something you wish to experience, Gabriel, Belladonna and Hazel are great routes because they have solo routes. Two of them have the chance to be open or poly but if you choose solo, that is fine. There are some tentative new romance options coming in book 2 as well that might better suit you. That being said, if the idea of it within the story makes you uncomfortable, I have said from the beginning of this book, there are a lot of wonderful authors out there that I am sure offer mono routes for every RO.
I would also like to address a few things you have stated in this ask just so I can be clear to everyone about it. Sometimes asks get confused with the text and people start to wonder if they missed something. First, the entire Milo/Mal thing has been around from the beginning. The uncertainty of whether or not they would be poly locked has been touch or go but it was addressed a few months ago and has been addressed on my discord, that you did not have to enter a poly, but Mal was always going to be around and vice versa if you decide you want to romance Mal. It was not ever brought up in game because, again, monogamy is not a construct that the Night Market has. For example, no one cares what Belladonna does. It is not like Milo is the first non monogamous character. The assumption was just made with Bella because she is a courtesan while the assumption was made that Milo would be monogamous because it is what is culturally acceptable to us. You need to remember that this place is a nexus point of a lot of different worlds. There are not a lot of things they bat an eye at. And yes, you can sometimes change the overarching things in this world (the treatment of people, for example) but I have made the decision that I do not feel comfortable having MC have influence or decision over RO's sexual preferences. That would be like having a LGBQT character that you convince to be straight. These characters are who they are outside of the MC and will not be changed fundamentally.
Also, the comment that MC helped him get over Mal? MC has not. Milo, is not grieving or holding onto the moment Malcolm died. Hazel is. Milo, already processed that. That is something that will be coming up in upcoming chapters. Also, you are assuming Milo falls instantly back in love with Mal. There is a line in this book that says he will always love him. But the idea that they are going to fall into each others arms with him back? You are assuming something that you have not read. I can also tell you, due to the end of this book, Milo being monogamous, is not what you need to be concerned about within this route.
Overall, I have been pretty transparent that the Night Market is a game and a story that I am writing, with characters that have a set of morals and beliefs. The MC, is not, and never has been, a self insert. They are a character in the story as well that you are just playing. I encourage you, if this is triggering, to read another IF. A piece of fiction is never worth your emotional comfort. That being said, I do understand this is a decision that will upset some people, but I am not writing a game to cater to everyone. There is no way that I possibly can do that.
I'm sorry if you do not understand my decision and I'm sorry if you feel misled. This is a wip, though. This is something that is in development. If you go back to Milo's description in the promo text, it does say his relationship is not as it seems. I did not make this decision without knowing how people were going to react and in the end, being true to my writing, and my characters, is very important to me. I love everyone who has supported me, but that does not mean that I owe you a change in my boundaries over my work, because of that support.

The character headcanon generator and the heirs of the night characters:
(Let's see how this will turn out...)
(Also a few just in modern AU)
Alisa:
Alisa could easily survive the Hunger Games (yes I can see this. I mean, she's the chosen one hello? )
Alisa is awful with kids (this isn't accurate in my opinion. She's such a loving and kind person and also gets along with pretty anyone so..)
Alisa is a cat person (yess just yes. She is black cat and Lars is golden retriever. Taking no critism on this)
Lars:
Lars crushed a riding lawn mower into his fence (Oh yess! That's the chaotic shit he would totally do!!!)
Lars cracks his knuckles very loudly ( hmhm...maybe just to annoy people but this suits him)
Lars desperatley needs a hug but doesn't know it and refuses to ask for one (if this doesn't characterize him than what does?)
Ivy:
Ivy is a theatre kid (so accurate!!)
Ivy tells dad jokes (also canon! She makes the dumbest jokes but still everyone laughs because they're all idiots)
Ivy has a low alcohol tolerance (yes. She literally Passes out after half a glas)
Inger:
Inger makes your mom jokes ( well...could be but Idk really if that's truly a thing with her)
Inger steals other people's clothes (when people are Ivy then yes)
Inger is very willing to eat inedible things (No. In my head she's a picky eater)
Fanny:
Fanny likes being alone (No! She's the biggest extrovert out there!!)
Fanny had an emo phase (Nah she would be the bully who makes fun of the emos let's be fr)
Fanny cringes at their middle school year book photo (Also rather no...she has the self confidence of a princess, but...maybe?)
Malcolm:
Malcolm only speaks in meme refrences (Hm...yes. Behind that serious facade of his he's a chronically online dumbass)
Malcolm doesn't own a single pair of matching socks. (Also yes, he's chaotic as hell.)
Malcolm has a Roblox account (He's addictet to the game but doesn't admit it so yes)
Tammo:
Tammo does not know how to read. (YESSS!! Just think about the potential this brings. Him struggling with keeping up in theoratical lessons in class and the other heirs finding out and helping him through reading to him. Also maybe a bit of angst because Dame Elina hates having an heir without the ability to read. ) Anyone want a fanfic like this?
Tammo has an incredible long-term memory but an awful short-term memory. (Oh yes! He remembers everything from years ago but can't remember what he wore yesterday)
Tammo watched the sonic movie. (Not only this but it's his favourite)
Joanne:
If someone they knew commited a crime, Joanne would cover for them. (She loves her friends sm, so yes. )
Joanne needs a nightlight to sleep. (Such a cute headcanon for a cute character!! Yess!!)
Joanne has a mary sue oc. (I mean that girl is about 12 right?? Who didn't in that age?)
Luciano:
Luciano sleeps in until noon. (In canon he is annoyed by Alisa who wakes him uo early so pretty sure this is accurate)
Luciano gets bullied on roblox. (By Malcolm?)
Luciano has fallen asleep at their desk while working in the middle of the night. (No. He loves his sleep too much to work over bed time)
Seamour:
Seamour likes to eat straight coffee beans. (Yes. He's a bit crazy)
Seamour is the gay cousin. (In my head he's gay so yes. )
If Seamour likes someone, they will give them a pretty rock. (Headcanon accepted)
Nicu:
Nicu hates being alone. (No he's an introverted king)
Nicu listens to 80s music. (He's a vintage girlie confirmed. )
If the sorce media was a musical, Nicu would be the one character that asks why everyone is singing. ( I mean he's the only human in a vampire friend group, so definitely yes!!) Also this is so funny!
Bonus: Hindrik and Karen
Hindrik gets into Twitter discourse.
Hindrik is a very good singer. (In the book he actually is I think!!)
Hindrik bites their nails. (Because Alisa and Tammo are stressing him out and he worries about them)
Karen is afraid to close their eyes in the shower. (Maybe because she has to keep her eyes on little Lars who Plans the next huge prank on her???)
Karen killed Princess Diana. (Haha slay queen)
Karen is an oldest child.

@fujoshi-simone-weil tagged me in a "things to get to know me" game! Fun, thank you! You have the best url on tumblr. Also, someone else tagged me in this game, like, a month ago and I kept meaning to do it (it was on my to-do list and everything!) but I forgot and now it has disappeared from my notifications. Also, I don't 100% remember who it was. But still, I wholeheartedly apologize to that person for neglecting their tag. I don't love you any less. Anyway, on with the show!
Last song I listened to: Answer Me from The Band's Visit. You can take the theater kid out of the theater but you can't take the theater out of the kid. Or maybe you can. I don't know. I am taking a class on songwriting for musical theater right now so I am listening to more musical theater than I have in a while, though not as much as I did in like 2019.
Favorite color: Purple!
Currently watching: Nothing really? I'm not much of a TV or movie person. I just finished watching the Fionna and Cake TV show which was surprisingly good. My siblings and I watched all of Adventure Time together a while back (we like to rewatch cartoons together), so we all facetimed to watch the finale, which was really nice. I'd missed them :)
Last movie I watched: Hmm. I don't remember. Let's think...nope, still don't remember. Sorry film nerds of tumblr.com. I wish I was as cool as you.
Currently reading: Psychoanalysis: The Impossible Profession by Janet Malcolm! It's a really fascinating look into the underlying contradictions of psychoanalysis and also a great overview of the history, but it's all done through an actually engaging character study! I think it was originally a lengthy piece in The New Yorker, published around 1980. Also, I just started The Tale of Two Cities, which is very fun because the only Dickens I have ever read before is Oliver Twist!
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: I want to say savory, but the answer is actually sweet. I put wayyyyyy too much sugar in my tea for me to be picking anything but sweet.
Last thing I googled: The last thing I googled was "Ray Donovan Music" and I will explain why because, yes, I know that that doesn't make any sense. So, I am finishing up work on this song I am writing and whenever I get to that "almost done" stage, I post to r/Songwriting to get feedback because it's fun and occasionally helpful. And someone in the comments said that my song sounds like if "the little girl from Moneyball and Ray Donovan had a brainchild with Regina Spector [sic]." Which, like, ok. Let's unpack that. The comparison to Regina Spektor is very kind. I have gotten that a few times, though I think Reddit just doesn't know any other women who write songs on the piano. The little girl from Moneyball is such a funny comparison to me. Like, she's not a songwriter? She's just Brad Pitt's fictional child. But like, sure, I get what they mean. I sing kind of light and talky sometimes which makes it sound childlike, I guess, like a Moe Tucker sort of thing. But Ray Donovan??? I literally do not know what this commenter is talking about. All I can find for who Ray Donovan is the guy from the TV show. Like, does TV criminal Ray Donovan write songs or something? Is my song particularly evocative of the Ray Donovan soundtrack? Did this commenter mash together Ray Davies and Donovan's names? I asked him who he is talking about, but received no reply. Someone save me from this hell. Who is Ray Donovan and why did he birth my song?
Current Obsession: Still The Beatles, I guess, though it's not nearly as debilitating as it was a year ago. Which is quite nice, actually! I can actually be productive now.
Current Thing I'm Working On: Well, I've just about finished up the aforementioned song! All it needs is a title. Also, I'm writing a paper on The Epic of Gilgamesh, which is fun. The guy who wrote my translation is a professor at my uni so I may go to his office hours to ask him about it!
Ok, I tag @torchlitinthedesert, @idontwanttospoiltheparty, @veidelon, @theallenklein, and @mydaroga. I know this one already made the rounds though (I think) so no need to do it if you already did it. Or, really, no need to do it at all.
Cheers, everyone!

Weekend With the Grays - Day 1: Back at Winbourne
Here we go! Thanks to @endlessly-cursed for organising this lovely event, and for the wonderful character of Prim! This also features a mention of Malcolm, who belongs to @gaygryffindorgal, Helen, one of @camillejeaneshphm 's wonderful characters, and the mention of one of their others....
A small black carriage being pulled along by a single Abraxan thundered through the trees, the mighty stallion seemingly knowing where to go on instinct. Inside the carriage, a young man with bright scarlet hair tinkered and fidgeted with a collection of gears and cogs with a thin golden screwdriver. The woman sitting next to him placed her hand on one of his own, hers just about larger than his.
"Dear, it'll be alright, I promise." Helen Graham said to her husband, smiling down at him. She too had red hair, though hers was more orange. "We're here to celebrate, not to mourn or worry." she reminded him, her voice still retaining a Louisiana accent.
Fred sighed, leaning back on his seat. "I know, I know...I just wonder if he knows that."
"He's not your responsibility." Helen said, sharply. "If he does show up tonight, he knows full well that he's expected to be Merry."
"That's just the thing, though." Fred put the gizmo he was working on back in his pocket as the trees started to clear. "The grief hasn't dimmed his wits. He knows he's being unreasonable, but it's as if he physically can't help it. It must be driving him mad."
"Well, maybe this would do him some good. If Prim can't get him smiling again, no one can." Helen declared, as the huge estate very quickly appeared out their windows.
"I do wish you wouldn't jinx it like that, dear." Fred said, chuckling in spite of himself.
"I'll jinx you in a minute. I'm not having you both moping about, alright?" Helen said, a smirk on her face as the Abraxan pulled in outside Winbourne.
The pair got out, Fred checking the time on a gold and scarlet pocket watch of his own design. "Just on time, I think." He observed, putting it back in his pocket.
Helen leant forward and look at it before he stuffed it away, noticing a small hourglass at its center. "Don't tell me you put one of your Time-Turners in there?" she asked, incredulously.
"It's not a Time-Turner...it's also a Time-Teller, see?" Fred replied, that full grin returning to his face once more. "Come on, we ought to find our hosts."
They walked up the steps towards the gates, Fred pointing out things that caught his eye as they moved through the snow, Helen doing very much the same. It helped that Helen was able to use her Ancient Magic to keep the snow off of them, and Fred was able to slow down the snowflakes so they were suspended in time, very slowly completing their descent. Soon, though, they made it to the front doors, and the one on the left opened to reveal the Viscountess of Winbourne, Primrose Gray herself.
"Prim!" Fred exclaimed on impulse, earning him a raised eyebrow and laugh from his wife. At this point, of course, they had all known each other for years, and were used to Fred saying what came from the heart almost instantly. "...I mean, ah, Good evening, Lady Primrose. It truly is a pleasure to see you."
Prim smiled at the both of them. "Good evening, Fred, Helen. It is always wonderful to see you both. How was the journey? Not too snowy?"
Helen smiled a little and nodded. "Not for us, of course, or our Abraxan." she said, gesturing to the large horse. "A gift from Baroness Osada. She's got...quite a few equines back in Poland."
"I'm sure she does." Prim nodded, looking back briefly into the warm interior of the building. "Well, please, come right in, Malcolm will show you where you can put your coats."
Helen, who to this day had not acclimated to the British winter, nodded rapidly before following Malcolm inside. Fred took a step forward too, but paused. Prim stopped as well, looking over to him. "Something the matter, Fred?"
In his years dealing with it, Fred had found that he had developed almost a sixth sense when it came to telling where ancient magic was nearby. And he felt a very familiar source of it walking through the snow behind him. "...I do believe that's Mr Doherty approaching the gates."
Fred watched as Prim stepped outside, still a little shell-shocked that Atticus had even bothered to show up. Then again, at times the man now shuffling through the night looked like a stranger. His green eyes lacked that brilliant shine he had whenever he came up with a brilliant idea (or any idea for that matter), and his clothes seemed to flow around him, shifting in and out of the darkness. But what really surprised Fred was the fact that on his best friend's head, covering his jet-black hair, was a hat.
A Hat. If it were any other gentleman of the period, nobody would have batted an eye. In fact, it was what gentleman were expected to wear. Yet, here he was, in a hat, walking into Winbourne. Hell must have been as cold as it was outside that night. Fred wasn't sure what to do, but perhaps that was why he wasn't the one hosting. Atticus looked up at Fred and Prim, his expression unreadable. Lady Primrose kept the door held open. "Good evening, Atticus," she said, as the wind howled, the moon appearing briefly in between the clouds. "Welcome to Winbourne. Please, come in, you look frozen, poor thing."
Atticus blinked, clearly not having expected that. Fred recognised the expression now. It was the look he'd always give Lillian whenever she caught him out on a flaw in his logic. "...Thank you, Lady Primrose." he said, almost out of social etiquette. Good evening to you, too." And with that, he was up the stairs and walking into the house. Fred came in afterwards, followed by Prim. In a weird way, he had almost expected the cold to follow Atticus through into the house, but with Prim and Malcolm showing them to a cloakroom to drop off their cloaks and bags, Fred felt a small amount of warmth returning to him.
He looked over to his best friend. Maybe he felt it too.

Can I ask the basic asks for your Malcolm Thawne?
I love this, someone actually making the point that my Malcolm Thawne is essentially an OC.
What changes do you think would be made between your muse as they exist in your head vs how they would be treated as part of canon?
Malcolm's direct and straight talking tendancies would probably be dialed down a bit- miscommunication is the show's bread and butter, after all, so someone talking sense? No way. And they'd drag out his reconciliation with Eddie too because they love their drama. Ditto his powers - possibly they'd have the Blue Flame healing powers (though place limits on them otherwise it's a deus ex machina), but Malcolm becoming a speedster would probably happen around S2 or S3, because they wouldn't want to take away focus from Barry.
What plot points would change due to the inclusion of your character in canon?
I feel a lot of Team Flash's questionable decisions (pipeline prison) would be sorted out a lot sooner - even a dialed down Malcolm would still the voice of reason, plus it's likely Wells would be uncovered sooner, because Malcolm doesn't have the same kind of respect for Wells as the others do, because as far as he's concerned this is the man who blew up the city and put his brother and countless others in danger. Eddie's capture would also go differently - because Malcolm loves his brother and Eddie knows this, especially after reconciliation, so Eobard's claims that he's forgotten and alone just wouldn't have the same effect of him. And post reveal Malcolm just keeps on reminding everyone that Eobard is time travelling serial killer and a lying liar who lies with a vested interest in making sure things happen the way he wants them to so why the hell would you trust him?? The finale definitely doesn't happen - because Malcolm would point out that yes, saving your family is a good and noble goal, but not when the guy offering is the one who killed them. Which would change S2 by extension...
As for any further plot points, I can't really go into too much detail on that as I haven't really seen much beyond S1 and the crossover parts, but I imagine once Malcolm becomes Cobalt Blue for real it's a major shift - another speedster, someone who can balance out Barry and also a friend, and someone Eddie can talk and connect with who didn't start out a friend of Barry's, because Eddie definitely needed that.
What role would your character play in the story? Are they a major player, or a one scene wonder?
Malcolm would probably be a recurring character in the first half of S1 - starting out with name drops by Eddie in the first few episodes before making an appearance - and then playing a bigger role in the back half of S1 once he reconciles with his brother, and by the time S2 comes around he's a major player.
If there are multiple adaptions/If they are part of a multi-part franchise, which ones would your character appear in?
Definitely the crossovers - though I imagine he'd interact more with the Legends than with Team Arrow.
Besides your face/voiceclaim, who do you think would be cast as your character?
Honestly, I have no idea - like so far the only actor I have is Walker Scobell for a young Malcolm, but no luck on an adult one, so no clue at all who the CW would cast.
If your character had a breakout show/film/comic, what would the plot be? Who would be in their supporting cast?
Probably centering around the Blue Flame - a key part of Malcolm's story is that even he's not sure how he has his healing powers, so that would become be a mystery he'd want to solve, especially as Eddie doesn't appear to have the same powers. Unfortunately he's not on speaking terms with his family, so he'd probably enlist Iris and Ralph's help in his quest for answers.
What headcanons/theories do you believe fandom would invent about your character?
That he never reconciled with his brother in the original timeline, that he was an inspiration to Eobard because he had - in his mind - a worthwhile career in science, and possibly that he'll eventually become the villainous Cobalt Blue he is in the comics, somehow (or was the villainous Cobalt Blue and Eobard's messing around in time changed that)

The time has come!!!! To watch the final four episodes of the Flash. Starting here with episode 10. I've currently got some tasty pizza but I may make some popcorn later. Will definitely have to resist the urge to throw the popcorn at the screen because my house is soooo dusty right now. (mid home-reno, at the point where all the big stuff is done and everything is now covered in a thick layer of drywall dust and i will literally be dusting the house over this for weeks to come)
The opening with Eddie is cute. Looks like 'Malcolm' is a research scientist? Since, from what spoilers I've seen, the N!SF is what resurrected Eddie, I have to wonder if the Malcolm persona was crafted to fit what Eobard wished Eddie was like. The N!SF has been retconned so much since it was first mentioned, but it started as an artificial speed force the Eobard created and it took Eobard as its first avatar. So it'd make sense if it was trying to remake Eddie in an image more pleasing to Eobard...
Still, it's too bad Malcolm isn't a separate character from Eddie.
Lol, Allegra as Rainbow Brite. I do find that hilarious. And the suit is awful.
Chester is no Cisco when it comes to super suits, that's for sure. How about calling up Ryan. He's not as good at is as Cisco, but he's not rainbow bathrobe bad at it.
I still think Cecile should have moved with Joe and Jenna. She's a great lawyer when the show remembers that she's a lawyer, but there's a lot of tell-not-show going on with her being a super hero and she seems happiest when she's with Joe and Jenna. This season's biggest problem, I think, is that it hasn't handled juggling the main cast well and, much as I like Cecile... I think that having her go into semi-retirement with Joe would have been a good choice. She still could have been commuting for her defense lawyer practice, giving us that one episode with Becky, but otherwise it would have been one less character to juggle and opened up the opportunity for Barry and Iris to raise Nora in the same house they were raised in.
Khione's place is very plant-filled. And I love that she's named them all. She's definitely leveled up on her powers since last we saw her and I like that she writes her diary entries as letters to her sisters, Caitlin and Frost. I still don't know what her purpose is because she hasn't done anything that couldn't have been easily handed off to someone else, so... *shrug* I've given up on the idea that she has an actual purpose that only she can do - you know, right hero at the right time - at this point. Still, very sweet.
Also did she have to look at the camera directly while talking about Blaine?
Iris - Since when do you do things last minute. Me - Where have you been? This man is your husband, sweetie. If he isn't doing something last minute, then he's doing it five minutes late.
Pulitzer nomination!!!! YAY!!! Go Iris!!!!
It's 'cobalt' blue energy that takes Barry to the past. I like the person who walks by cupping a cd player in their hands. That's so funny, but very 2000.
Oh!!! the laundry van!!! reference to the pilot episode!!! love it :D
Barry being an awkward duck with not-yet-Captain Singh. David is going to remember this one day and wonder. Anywho, love that Barry's first instinct is to go to Joe for help when he can't get back home. Not surprising it doesn't work out - you're a stranger to him now, Barry - but still.
Next try, Professor Stein. Who, given the time travel shenanigans he's already played with his own timeline at this point, would probably believe Barry a little more easily. But still not surprising he didn't believe him over the phone. Bet if Barry had shown up in person and started talking about the Legends, that would have gone better.
Of course, Barry then sees his parents. And just. Gets so focused that the Reverse Flash blindsides him. Love that Henry saves Barry from being killed. Nora's first thought at seeing Barry is 'he looks just like my father'. Their shared concern about Barry even though he's just some stranger... it's good to finally see the people who raised Barry before Joe. And that Barry's kindness towards strangers and sense of duty to help is something that is as much from them as from Joe.
Henry - I'm Dr. Allen and this is my wife Nora and we were first on the scene after your accident. Barry - *internally freaking out because he loves his parents but he knows his mom is gonna die soon and his dad will go to prison and he wants to save them, knows he can't, and doesn't want to fuck up the timeline again because he actually didn't intentionally time travel for a change* O_O Umm.... hi... I'm... Bart.
Barry calling himself Bart will never not be funny to me.
Nora - Can we call family or friends for you? Barry - *No mom, you can't call yourself, sorry* Nope.
Gosh, I do love Henry and Nora so much. They save this guy on the street, take him to the hospital, and insist on taking him out for pizza. Knowing they're such kind and helpful people really highlights what a tragedy what happens to them are because... how many people would they have tried to help if Nora had lived and Henry hadn't spent fifteen years in jail? Not with super powers but with just kindness and an insistence on helping the people around them.
Joe and David wanting to help Barry now too. :D Mysterious voice growls Joe's name and there's a blue crystal that... possess Joe? Well. Would you call that shade of blue... cobalt? *snicker*
Nora - Well, what about your family? Where are they? Barry - *AWKWARD* They died.
Again. Nora and Henry being so very, very kind to Barry. Giving him something he's missed for so long. And he can't accept their offer to stay with them, much as he wants to.
Matt!Eobard shows up, with the ominous helicoptor noises! Of course Barry assumes this whole setup is his fault. But it isn't.
Barry could be having a nice evening with his parents, instead he's at a bar with the guy who is an evening away from causing Barry's childhood PTSD. And Eobard laying out the situation is interesting because there are more options than Eobard mentions and he genuinely doesn't realize that. It's just... kind of fascinating for Barry to see what's happening from the point of view of knowing how this will turn out in the end.
For Barry to have the life that Eobard is threatening to take away... he does kind of have to let Eobard win. Just not in the way that Eobard intends to at that moment.
Barry going back to Henry's office right as Henry and Nora at talking about how they wish they could have helped him... do love that timing. :D
Barry getting to tell his parents that their love made him who he is even now, so many years after their deaths... even if they don't realize his words really are for them. Very sweet.
Uh-oh, growling voice is back. I suspect it's trying to stop Barry from getting to Eobard in time to save mini-Barry from Eobard's evil plans. Though that begs the question of why it brought Barry back in time in the first place.
Joe - Hey, so I know everything. Barry - Oh? Not even gonna question this. Help me Joe.
Waiting since the dawn of time, huh? So if the N!SF's main color is red, then why is it using blue now instead?
I like the doctor who takes charge when the hospital is damaged - she's my hero now. Oh gosh, she's Ramsey Rosso's mother. Now his disdain towards his mother for dying of HLH pisses me off even more. Dr. Rachel Rosso was an amazing woman.
Seriously, why is the N!SF's main color suddenly blue????
Barry - I'm not here to save myself. I'm here to save you. Eobard - Bullshit. *it's in his eyes, okay???*
Oh yeah, he's not here to save himself. He just... carries himself... out... of the building.
Though I do appreciate Barry risks his own timeline to offer Eobard the chance to do the right thing. But Eobard can't see beyond his own ego to realize that Barry already knows what will happen if Eobard goes through with his plan.
And I do love that we finally get to have Eobard call himself the hero and Barry the villain. Eobard cannot see beyond his own selfishness to realize that not only is he the bad guy, but that he's the bad guy because of his own actions. Even in his personal future when he 'embraces' being the bad guy, Eobard still thinks that it's all Barry's fault and the real villain is Barry even if no one sees it.
And there's the big fight. S1 Barry!!!! aww, back when his suit looked like actual protective gear and not a Halloween costume made of moisture wicking fabric.
Eobard - OH NO NOT THE CONSEQUENCES OF MY ACTIONS CATCHING UP TO ME!!!! Barry - Told you so. Also thanks for the catharsis, asshole.
lol
Back to Malcolm!Eddie. Who gets the classic struck by lighting of destiny, but it's red. Like the N!SF usually is but hasn't been all episode - see this is why changing the color coding for the N!SF to blue suddenly was bad. Consistency is important!!
And apparently the N!SF can transport objects because it also brought Malcolm!Eddie a police dossier. On Eddie Thawne.
That was actually a really strong opening episode for the finale. I am glad that they're closing the loop before the end of the show. That said, I'm not sure how I feel about it being one of the focuses of the series finale. It's appropriate to revisit what started it all at the end of the show, but at the same time there's been an obsession with Nora's death throughout the whole show that, at this point, it does also feel like they're beating a dead horse. But I'm not sure when else in the show it might have gone... unless they'd done Savitar as the Flash from the timeline Eobard came from where Nora didn't die with Savitar causing Flashpoint towards the end of S3 instead of Barry causing it at the end of S2, but I've got a post about that fanfic idea somewhere. (I actually really want to write that at some point.)
The fact that this was such a well written and paced episode makes me worried the rest of the episodes aren't going to live up to it. Because I've been watching this whole season and, uh, this quality of episode really isn't what the season's average has looked like.
Getting a glimpse of the N!SF's personality here does make me wonder just how much it may have warped Eobard's mind already by the time Barry first met him. Or if its personality was modeled off it's creator and it merely encouraged Eobard's worst traits. This Barry knows Eobard is capable of choosing to be a good person and caring about other people beyond his own selfishness, which is why I think Barry gave him the warning even knowing Eobard wouldn't take it. He still wanted to give that part of Eobard that genuinely wants to be a hero a chance to be one. Given what spoilers tell me the N!SF is gonna do to Eddie, I can't discount the idea that Eobard might have turned out very different as a speedster without the N!SF's corruption - and I think maybe Barry wonders that now too, having spoken to the N!SF directly through its possession of Joe.
That said, I do enjoy Eobard being an entitled asshole who cannot see beyond his own ego and cannot conceive of being wrong. We got a glimpse here of Eobard back when the character was still well written and fascinating to watch because he is a genius but his blind spots are so obvious to everyone but him. So when his well thought out plan falls apart, he doesn't see why until it smacks him in the face.
Anyway, one episode down and three to go.

Not tagged or anything, still kind of intrigued me, so just doing it for funsies and maybe even some self-reflection along the way...
Since last year Aziraphale (Good Omens) moved all others to the background. Apart from him, I have a variety of characters that I learned to love over the decades (yep, I'm old...). Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Firefly, I love Nathan Fillion). Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds, Matthew Gray Gubler is my favorite geek and the episodes he directed are all so epic). Charles Rowland (Dead Boy Detectives, sigh...still hurts).
Matches. I don't smoke. Lighting candles with them triggers tons of childhood memories. Love the smell as well for the same reason...
All year in my bedroom. Can't sleep without fresh air.
Not any more. Used to as a kid. Grew out of it. Sometimes still like to believe that all this here *waving arms around* serves some higher purpose and something might be steering...but...guess not. Presumably just playing dice...
Blue. Sometimes more towards gray, sometimes radiant blue. Depending on my mood, maybe...or some chemistry thing I have no knowledge whatsoever about...
Seemed like a good idea in the beginning.
My hair took off years ago. So, neither. Never was long in the old days.
None. Usually drink in the kitchen and leave them there, if I don't have visitors.
Slightly hot. Nothing worse than a burnt tongue and that weird fuzzy feeling afterwards for half a day.
No violence. Witnessed too much bloodshed in my past. Never changes anything to the better. I'd tax their asses...
Reading. Taking long walks. Contemplating life's choices.
Saturday. Hopefully a relaxing one. The weather's supposed to be nice. So I'll get out later to grab a coffee and something sugared...
Just had breakfast.
Love it. My bestie lately even taught me, how the specific smell comes to pass. Again, chemistry/ biology...
No. Was a time I'd loved to become one. Didn't happen. Now probably not anymore. Love kids and am a beloved and passionate uncle of several nephews and nieces.
Yes. Haven't in years. Never liked it. Stresses me out.
Near sighted, wearing glasses since childhood.
Shampoo, even with minimum hair still suffer from dandruffs.
Raised as a straight boy and never learned how. Love painting, so I guess I'd still excell at it if someone let me... 💅🏻🤣
Neither. English is not my native language and I never used them once so far. Lemonade would be my choice I guess.
Nothing really. I cling to memories more than to things...
Empathic and kind to the verge of self-sacrifice. Sometimes feeling sadness of loved ones around me almost causes physical pain and always the inevitable urge to help...
If it's sunny, I'm fine. Don't like it in combination with rain though. Snow is fine but I am by no means a winter sports enthusiast.
Stargazing at night, looking for funny shaped clouds in daylight.
Perfume on rare occasions.
All. The. Time. Toxic trait. Very much so.
Not more than 6 usually. Also often wake up in between multiple times. Not a good sleeper, and it shows.
I did during the pandemic. Stopped since then again.
Start hot and then turn it down slowly.
Sometimes I leave a mug on my desktop when I was on my computer. But I kind of hate that and usually put all back to the kitchen as soon as it's not needed anymore more. Yeah. Could call me pedantic in that particular field...
I listen to all genres except techno/trance stuff. Most grounded probably when listening to calm orchestrated movie scores...
Nope.
Not the overall adventurous kind of person. CSD pride parade the 1st time as openly queer person this year felt kind of adventurous...if that counts for something and is not completely pathetic...
So many. I really love to sing along. Alone in my apartment. Or just lip syncing with earbuds in the bus...
CET
Nope.
Some friends I still meet a few times a year and we know each other since kindergarten. I'm 48, so you do the math...
Smells in general trigger me all the time. Mostly positive feelings or memories...
Almost never, although I should in autumn and winter...
Not yet. The day is still young.
Black. No sugar.
Was active on Insta but almost stopped in the past 12 months. Lost the point in hunting likes and appreciation.
Love it, but always suffer afterwards. 🔥💩
No one. Never ever.
Learned that my Mom doesn't need spine surgery, so won't forget that one so quickly...
Miracle on 34th Street. Always manages to make me cry happy tears. The scene when Kris Kringle has the little deaf girl in his lap and surprises her and her Mom by using sign language. And of course when the court's decision is made and the whole city just cheers... 😭
"Feel free to do that whenever you feel like it!" (Well, without the context this reads pretty naughty...)
Probably around age 10. Sipped wine with my grandpa.
If I find a good rock and calm waters, yes. But never was a true master...
Yep.

Okay🫡 here are my thoughts on the first chapter 🧍🏼♀️
Magnus/Will/James interactions are HILARIOUS it's seriously the best part. I love this "two friends vibing while the third one's trying to find the most convenient window to jump out of" energy. Will having fun and asking James "r u still depressed kid?" every few hours is MY family dynamic, I relate so much it's scary.
I just don't understand why Will and Magnus don't try to push him harder? He's on the verge of telling everything and if he doesn't do it in the next chapter I'll blow up this book and then myself🧍🏼♀️
Matthew/Cordelia dynamic is... Strange 👀
So on one hand it's pretty satisfying to watch Cordelia living her vogue model life and her and Matthew eating in most fancy places and just enjoying their lives✨💃🏽 Great to know at least someone is having fun in this book😮💨 + now I must have an art with Cordelia in all those dresses, I'd look at them like Matthew did 👁️👄👁️💭❤️🔥
But on the other hand, Cassie is making Cordelia blind for the plot sake and it makes Daisy look stupid and selfish which is not her fault at this point, it's for the "OMG HE'S STILL DRINKING?!?🤯 I didn't see him drinking when he was around me which equals he stopped😦he promised to stop why it didn't work 😱🙎🏼♀️" twist.
And it's so weird, you can't ask an alcoholic to stop drinking and expecting it's gonna work. It's like that meme "if you're homeless just....buy a house?🙄" Cassie pls stop with that, LET ME ENJOY MY FUCKING FOOD
And I don't understand... She didn't tell Alastair anything? But she admits that now he's in real danger because of Cortana, Lilith and Belial..... Why Cassie's trying to show it like sth "oh well Daisy is upset and she won't handle other people thinking bad of her🥺" when in real life it looks like "I guess my brother and pregnant mother might be attacked by Lilith or Belial any moment but😏 life is a risk hehehe 😏 good luck with it LOSERS 💅🏽"
Lucie / Jesse / Malcolm✨
Not much to say just 😭Lucie 😭 if you can hear me🥹 I'm here 🥹 I'm taking care of you
I'm expecting a romantic family sitcom and nothing else!!! No not like this: IF IT'S NOT ABOUT ROMANTIC FAMILY SITCOM I DON'T WANT IT! I JUST NEED 200 PAGES OF JESSE AND LUCIE BEING TWO KIDS IN LOVE THAT'S IT🙆🏼♀️
Okay we know that Lucie will wake up and for some reason Jesse won't be able to touch her. Now I should say I hope Malcom WON'T be useless🙏🏻 and will A) fix Lucie's condition somehow B) deliver some high quality drama with his Annabel or anything. I just hope Cassie has a bigger plan on him than "well he's here to help Lucie heal a bit and be that minor character who's here to be someone else's background". I hope he has his own little story / development in this book.
Ariadne and her suspicious AF father
No but she's just like me for real, I ALSO HAVE 0 FRIENDS AND TALK WITH EVERY ANIMAL I SEE AND MISS PEOPLE WHO DON'T FUCKING CARE ABOUT MY EXISTENCE AND—
Sorry
SO um 1) we found out her mother's name is Flora 🌺🌷🌸 and she's... ok? I guess? 2) Inquisitor is either as obsessed with "YOU'RE SO COOL AND I'M NOT AND GIRLS ALWAYS LAUGH AT YOUR JOKES BUT NEVER MINE" revenge as Tatiana or he works for Belial / Tatiana.
Any of these options sucks because Ariadne will have to lose one of her parents AGAIN. And she has no one to support her, no one she trusts completely. ✋BUT I'm glad Cassie's also focusing on "Ariadne's main goal is to have friends" instead of just adding more drama to her relationship with Anna. I genuinely believe that Ariadne's arc is gonna be one of the best.

Making a post briefly explaining who all my characters are so my followers don't have to be TOTALLY confused. Just mostly confused.
(adding a cut cause I forgot just how much I talk)
Nexus
Arely is a teenage girl with super powers that make her basically all powerful but only when she's having an emotional breakdown. Otherwise she kinda just has the ability to teleport and charge car batteries. She is really friendly and either has no self preservation instincts or willfully ignores them (it's that one) she keeps doing karaoke. for some reason.
Aoife (pronounced eefa) is Arely's best friend who met her online years before she got super powers and then one day her best friend who last she knew was 3,000 miles away showed up on her doorstep and was like "look what I can do!" And then teleported 7 feet in the air and landed on her face. Aoife is very kind and patient, thank God, and is also a pretty brilliant and resourceful inventor for her age.
Ellie is Arely and Aoife's best friend who again, met online. They all met online. Do not question. She's super excited about her friend's superheroism and also has a very strong sense of justice which is the cause of both her activism streak and her slight jealousy of Arely as she can't fathom why Arely was chosen to bear it when Arely doesn't even care about justice. But she's fine. For now she's the #hacker of the group aka Not Arely because Arely is stupid and not Aoife because Aoife is busy doing the inventing thing and can't spend her time breaking through online security
Malcolm is the antagonist, but not really because I love him too much to antagonize him (help) He's just a normal dude who's a higher up in a tech giant called Scorpio that, being a huge corporation, gets in some shady business and thus crosses Arely's path fairly often. Especially since they just happen to live and operate in the same city. The good news is, despite his job, he's more interested in studying her than killing her, which is very good news for me because despite the enormous super powers, Arely is not very good at this and would otherwise be very dead. She has latched on to Malcolm like a leech and occasionally shows up on his doorstep I guess just to say hi. They're currently defining the parameters for a hero and villain dynamic in their world because they are the very first. He also has a clipboard.
There's also Mikkel. He is a mad scientist who lives in a Scorpio lab in the mountains of Norway. He's a hugger. Malcolm is not a hugger. Arely is a hugger though so that's good. Mikkel is also extremely friendly and actually very considerate but is also 100% down for illegal experiments including concerning human subjects, should the subjects be willing. I mean, I won't tell. He also caused Scorpio to nuke their inner communication systems once because they kept trying to block him from sending emojis and instead ended up blocking nearly every character on a keyboard because he was getting creative.
Lillian is a biologist who's name sounds like a kindergarten teacher and she lives on a ranch/lab in I think it was North Dakota but it could be South Dakota I can't say I was paying much attention. It's half a ranch because it was her family's goat farm that she didn't want to sell so she asked that Scorpio just buy some of her land to build a lab for her to work at there lol. I mean it works great though. They have a karaoke machine there.
Neo is the actual antagonist. He's so antagonist-y that he didn't show up on screen (mental screen, because I have issues) until like 3 years in. He's the CEO of Scorpio and as such often sets aside his personal morals in the best interest of the company. He also hates Arely, not because of Arely's meddling, but because by the time he's in the picture this has been going on for like 4 years and he's sick of getting emails about her. Big mood. Love this guy.
There's also Kim. She's the worst. She grew up rich and decided when she was like 5 that she wanted to grow up to be a comic book supervillain. Unsurprisingly, she was extremely excited about the appearance of the world's first superhero. Unfortunately I believe she is seriously mentally unwell and all she wants to do is steal Arely's powers, and then kill her. A hilarious detail about her is that her "evil lair" is built in the same mountain range as Mikkel's lab. They neighbors.
Nick is a 13 year old girl who is amazed by the superhero and I gotta be honest I have 0 idea how she and Arely met. I'm sure it'll come to me. But I DO know that she found out who Arely is because she was going to ask everyone she could to sign the words "just a friend" (which is what Arely signs when she helps the police, Spider-Man style XD) so she could compare and try to find the hero. (Very efficient plan I'm sure that'll work good job Nick you're doing great sweety) Arely said "have you ever considered that maybe the hero doesn't want to be found?" and Nick said "I think everyone wants to be found." and accidentally sent Arely into a existential crisis so when Nick handed her the piece of paper she signed it in a panic and then ran away. Yep, that's how she found out.
Corey is a petty thief and our resident anarchist. She met Arely when she tried to pickpocket Arely and Arely pickpocketed her back. Then they had to meet up to exchange stuff, and Corey thought Arely was interesting and kept in contact with her. Corey found out that Arely was the superhero because she invited Arely "to hang out" which means "break into a big corporate warehouse and steal some stuff lol" but that warehouse was Scorpio's and it's where Malcolm works so Arely went along by obligation to keep Corey safe, and when they got caught it was awkward lol. Corey is also dating Xander, the son of a mob boss, in a very responsible arrangement by Arely. Good job, matchmaker.
Xander is a dear boy and I love him so much. He's such an innocent sweetheart. Adrien Agreste energy. He's the son of a mob boss and grew up very wealthy. He knew he'd inherit it all some day, but didn't want to just be a success by birthright, so he went and got a job at a convenience store to actually do something with his life. That was the same store Arely worked at, and they became friends. Once Xander invited Arely over and idk if Arely knew who Xander's dad was or if they just thought he wasn't going to be home but he was and he recognized her and man THAT was awkward. But now he's accepted that his enemy is also a good friend to his son so she's allowed over as long as Xander is there. But he WILL throw things at her.
Ellis is a scientist NOT with Scorpio who, at the beginning of the series, Scorpio was trying to steal information from. That's how Arely first gets involved in Scorpio's stuff, saving Ellis. Ellis shows up occasionally mostly because the protagonists are a bunch of teenagers and she's the resident responsible adult. except she flips out any time anything happens. She also hit Malcolm with a purse but it's okay because he deserves it. I ship them.
I'm gonna stop now. More at 11

Sian do you have any fears about the fatws? I feel silly for mine but I can't help it. I'm really hoping it's everything I've been hoping for.
Hey. Y’know, your fears aren’t silly. It’s what happens when you care about something.
Truthfully, the only time I was sure a Marvel project was going to be everything I was hoping for was Black Panther. That was mainly because I trusted Ryan Coogler. I want to trust Malcolm Spellman the same way. I hope that he, as a Black man, will have delved into the Truth: Red, White & Black comic book story arc focusing on Isaiah Bradley. Not just touch on it. I want to see it explored in depth and to really critique the mantle of Captain America; speak the truth on awful eugenics experiments that were occurring; and focus on how Sam’s race informs his decisions on taking up the mantle. Sam is not just the good-looking guy with the sunglasses; the quips; and the wings. He is a Black man in America and there are conversations that need to happen. I hope the show steps up in that regard.
As you would know from following me, Anon, I am a huge 616 Sam Wilson fan. I would hate it if FATWS didn’t incorporate some of Sam’s personality and beliefs in the show.
I love that Bucky’s getting therapy. That’s long over due, but it will absolutely shit me if the show doesn’t address what T’Challa, Shuri, and Wakanda did for Bucky. If FATWS just glosses over the fact that he spent two peaceful years in Wakanda in recovery, then that’s a slap in the face to the legacy of Black Panther and what Ryan Coogler did (he is the only one I trust with Bucky).
I guess this is more of a list of what I am hoping for. My fears are more to do with fandom, to be honest. I have been in fandom long enough to know how it’s going to pan out. It’s like Danai Gurira said, and I am paraphrasing, but you put a dude or a white person in a story, and everyone focusses on them. What I’m saying is I know Sam will be sidelined by a lot of content creators and fans in his own show because people will focus more on Bucky (and Zemo and whoever else).
I love Bucky. He is one of my favourite characters ever. In Earth-616, his return was not even going to happen. Did you know that Bucky Barnes was meant to be a character like Uncle Ben? He was a character that had to die so that the main character (Cap and Spidey etc.) would have purpose. They were characters that were never, ever meant to be resurrected. It took decades for any writers to even come up with ANY idea to have Bucky return that wasn’t shot down by Stan Lee and co. True story. He was not meant to be brought back. But Brubaker did it. And his return as the Winter Soldier came with a really excellent and compelling critique of the military; of how we treat vets; on geopolitics; and a whole range of other things that comic narratives weren’t touching on at the time. He is an amazing character.
616 Sam Wilson’s journey to becoming Captain America is an amazing story. His line from the books, again I am paraphrasing, about Steve’s Cap representing what’s great about America, and Sam’s Cap being about the people America forgot about is one of the best things written anywhere in any medium. He is a phenomenal character.
Together, characters like Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes just existing how they do bring together some of the best story arcs in comic books ever. Some of the best critiques on power structures; the military complex; the people who are forgotten (vets and POC); detrimental implications of nationalism etc.
FATWS has so much potential for me in this regard. I am a little worried that these things that I love about Sam and Bucky won’t shine through in the story they are telling with the series. I am all for the banter and their dynamic that we have seen in the MCU. I love it as much as the next fan. I just hope that some of the great things from their respective 616 characterisations are included, too.
I could go on and on about this, but I’ve already written too much. Ha!
I really can’t wait, though.

Lady Macbeth, complex girlboss.
Do you have any other Macbeth thoughts and opinions you'd like to share? because this is fun
ahaha yes ok. so. i sent this to tam @funky-sea-cryptid
i think you can (AND SHOULD!!) play around with genre more in macbeth. i think people talk about messing with the 4th wall in hamlet a lot while still keeping the play setting the same, but with macbeth the ONLY thing that changes is the setting (WHICH DOESNT WORK IT'S NOT ABOUT THE 11TH CENTURY IT'S ABOUT THE 17TH CENTURY AND YOU CAN'T JUST CHANGE THE TIME PERIOD AND EXPECT IT TO HOLD UP) when what we should be doing is keeping all of it the same and messing about with what it means to be a play, yk?
like it stays as is. you can update the political commentary but everything firmly remains in 11th century scotland (that is actually the modern day but with old clothes and in scotland) and THEN you have macbeth realise it's a play and stop caring because everything's fake (which, now that i think about it, doesn't work). or you have lady macbeth realise she can't escape her societal role (and actually. as much as i love gruoch, lady macbeth as a character would work really well as a terf she's good to explore how terfs treat womanhood) or you have MACDUFF realise it's a play but he realises too late and macbeth already knows. or maybe he doesn't!!! maybe MALCOLM realises it's a play and it becomes about being trapped both in the narrative and in the role society sets up, which for him is kinghood, and it's a testament to how kind he is as a PERSON and not a character that he helps people defeat a false evil and continue to live out their false lives that end as soon as the curtain falls
#i have a lot of insane takes about macbeth but this is one of my more serious ones#hamlet-ification of macbeth WHEN

Hi! ☺️
First of all, I want to say that I hope these asks don't demotivate you. Nothing came up during my brief research on Joel Kinnaman, either, at least not when I googled the actor after reading your story and no one has the time to research every faceclaim in great detail. This is, first and foremost, a hobby that should spark joy and only very few people expect a thorough background check, that is just not feasible.
I also agree with you that while actors like Johnny Depp of Amber Heard are burnt ground for faceclaims, simply because of the association, generally, a faceclaim uses only the physical appearance of an actor, usually even an actor in a role, and says nothing about the author's idea of said actor's character -- especially because usually, they have none.
I do also think there are more respectful ways to let you know your faceclaim has a history of rape allegations. So while of course it is good to let an author know about a potentially problematic faceclaim, generalised accusations and snippy allegations do not help.
As for your recasting choices, I think Sebastian Stan best represents the slightly rugged and but good-natured and protective adventurer and treasure hunter.
I listed a few other possible faceclaims from action TV shows, so I hope they have the right look for edits:
Michael Landes (Hooten and the Lady)
Ricky Whittle (American Gods)
Brett Dalton (S.H.I.E.L.D)
Jeff Ward (S.H.I.E.L.D)
Henry Simmons (S.H.I.E.L.D)
Nick Blood (S.H.I.E.L.D)
Jon Bernthal (Punisher)
Don't worry! The Tourists is still underway. I'm just taking a moment, but the next scene will be published soon.
I also have so many actors cast, from Westwood to The Corpsemen, and I really thought the initial ask had been about Dominique (on my OC account, @decennia) who is in need of a major character renovation.
It is also not a subject matter I particularly enjoy revisiting, so I wasn't about to go through every actor and search allegations. That's the word of the moment, though, isn't it? Allegations. Alleged. We won't know without a shadow of a doubt until the whole entire truth is out.
It really was about the appearance, if I'm being honest. This character was based off of softer versions of Rick Flag and Takeshi Kovacs. That's all. Joel Kinnaman is not those people. He just portrays them, and those portrayals are the influences that contributed to the creation of Elijah Pierce.
Still, I do not want to be associated with this subject matter any more, even if I'm still awaiting the trial. I won't stand for my name being dragged through the mud like this, or my integrity called into question.
For the recast, I've also started learning more towards Sebastian Stan, actually. Robert Pattinson (who has been winning in the polls as of now) is, in theory, perfect, aside from the major fact that he's a bit too... pretty (?) to be Elijah. He's too refined, doesn't menace enough. I have a hard time believing that Malcolm would fear his rage, aside from his portrayal of Batman. But I can't very well have Elijah running around in a bat costume in The Tourists, can I? 😂
As I have been writing The Tourists very much with Kinnaman in mind (in appearance), it's hard to extricate the two for the time being. It'll likely change as I adjust more to the idea of someone else being Elijah, though.
Ricky Whittle is also an incredible contender! Thank you so much.
And thank you for being so kind and wonderful. I very much love and appreciate you 💕
