Sleepover headcanons for l/n and mmj

Leo/need have constant sleepovers, whether they're official and at someone's house or non planned in the sekai, they always make sure to have some time for band talk, some for pillow fights (at saki's request) and some for stargazing (honami and ichika's request), and when it's at Saki's house sometimes Tsukasa will join them, mostly to make sure everything is alright, they're the ones that have sleepovers the most often. If I had to add on how they sleep, it's like a bundle of tangled hair, you can't separate one as an outsider, they won't ever let you (Rin tried to prank them once and when she tried to move Shiho even a little bit she realized it was impossible), but if one of them moves? Oh sure it's fine. I think Ichika loves to cuddle plushies or her friends, mostly Saki as she also loves cuddles. Honami tends to sleep like a righteous human should, but i think she speaks when she's asleep which has brought a lot of funny scenes for the girls. Now Shiho is the one that you'd think wouldn't cuddle, but she actually doesnt mind when anyone clings to her cause she's just used to it at this point, and she knows Saki won't stop until she gets her way so it's whatever at this point. Saki and Ichika agree that she gives the best hugs, but Honami's aren't bad either.

Now, More More Jump did have sleepovers before, but since getting the More More House they have them more frequently because it's just easier, however they're very specific over their night routines. Shizuku and Minori don't have such strict routines, their skin is just great like that, but haruka and airi? They're like the goddesses of skin care, ask them about something you're having trouble with and they'll give you the perfect methods (Ichika and Saki have been victims of this behavior). And something pretty specific: Minori refuses to sleep without covers, even in summer she can't do it, and Haruka refuses to sleep with any door open near her.

Pre-broadcast station commentary

We're back! The first Project SEKAI Broadcast Station stream will be held on the 25th, with MCs Mayushi and Furirin, and guests Daichan and Ruirui. This stream is essentially just the same as wandasho channel, but allows more of the cast to MC. There's also a segment at the beginning where they look at currently popular vocaloid songs on niconico (which they already did in wxschannel) and also talk with producers about their songs in the game. This month's segment will feature Nanou (producer of Engeki and Hello/How Are You).

It's actually pretty hard to predict what events are coming up at the moment, considering they've completely shifted the event order by putting VBS first. We do know that there's the N25 world link event, so we'll be getting more information about that too (i'm assuming we'll get a commission with that event). i get the feeling it's a kanade event if anyone's on the banner since she's filling up pt 4 of the event.

the other event will be either MMJ or WxS based on the seiyuu present. A lot of people over on JP side are predicting Tsukasa lim banner for this month, but I'm doubtful of that theory even if we are due another unit lim event. Tsukasa literally just had a lim on the last lim event and is currently at 5 lims (the current max). Also most likely to be gacha on Tsukasa's next event is Rui who is also at 5 lims so I highly doubt Tsukasa lim event. Rui lim event maybe if you put Emu and Nene on the banner but I'm still concious of how many lims Rui has. (also Tsukasa needs a 3DMV which clashes with Kanade's 3DMV. I mean they are gonna have to do double 3DMV at some point due to the Minori/An double 2DMV but anyway I think Tsukasa event is unlikely).

If anyone gets a lim event it would be a Haruka MMJ event but MMJ already had their second lim event and it was a Haruka banner. Haruka did get 2 years of only lim banners though so I'm starting to think that maybe clpl doesn't really care.

Haruka is very due a lim though and is basically guaranteed to get one in the end of month event. So either it's a mixed event with Haruka lim or a MMJ event with Haruka lim, but I think the first is more likely. That would leave WxS for the other event to pair with potential Kanade 3DMV, a Rui event specifically. Still a bit uncertain though so I'll do some actual refined speculation once the events have been teased.

Also we'll be getting more info about the sanrio collab, which is heavily speculated (not sure if it's confirmed) to have a lim gacha. Might be worth saving if that's something you're interested in.

Whumptober Day 24 - Collapsed Building

There I Met Your Voice Again

MEIKO has a special cabinet in Crase Cafe where she stores the strongest liquor. None of the kids are supposed to touch it, and she keeps it a secret from An and the others.

The cabinet is only opened when all the adult virtual singers— so the versions of herself, KAITO, and Luka from everywhere except School SEKAI— are together and something serious has happened.

If this didn’t count, then who knew what did.

MEIKO had felt it, before Kohane came in tears to tell her what was going on. A new rec center had opened up, a convenient walk from both Kamikou and Miyajou. Both Akito and An’s friend Haruka had been training there when all of sudden, the building just collapsed.

They were the only ones injured, both left in comas and unable to wake up. The effect on the SEKAI when they lose a pillar of it, even like this, isn’t immediate, but MEIKO knew the change in the air.

Her counterpart from the Stage SEKAI clearly felt the same way, wordlessly arriving. MEIKO chased the kids out and opened the special cabinet.

“How’s Minori?” MEIKO asks.

“Distraught,” Stage MEIKO says, throwing back shots of vodka while MEIKO makes herself a rum on the rocks. “How’s An-chan? She was friends with Haruka and Akito so…”

“I haven’t seen her,” MEIKO says. “I haven’t seen them all at once since.”

“The others are trying to see if there’s a way we can call to Haruka, maybe get her consciousness back to her body.”

“You think that’s the problem?” Reportedly the comas they were in were abnormal, but something tying into the SEKAI would be rare.

“It’s worth a try, isn’t it?” Stage MEIKO says. “Besides, it gives them something to do other than worry.”

“Yeah,” MEIKO says. “We should probably head over to Empty SEKAI after this, Ena-san’s probably upset too, it might be affecting them.”

“Miku knows they won’t come over themselves,” Stage MEIKO mutters.

Suddenly, there’s a weird flash of light, and the two MEIKOs are in a different SEKAI, one they haven’t seen before. Standing before them is a Vocaloid they don’t often see around them.

“µ?” MEIKO gasps. “What’s wrong?”

“MEI-chan and MEI-chan!” µ says, tears forming in her eyes. “I’m sorry!”

“What are you sorry for?” MEIKO asks, warily. µ was well intentioned, certainly, but she was… naïve, sometimes. As if nearly destroying the world wasn’t enough proof of that.

“W-well I heard about what happened to your kids,” µ says, “and I wanted to preserve their consciousnesses like I did with Marie-chan–”

“Wait, Akito-kun and Haruka are in comas because you trapped them in Mobius?” Stage MEIKO says.

“No! They were already in comas, this was just to make sure they didn’t suffer any long term consequences from lack of brain activity, it’s just, something went wrong and their consciousnesses… fractured.”

“Fractured?” MEIKO asks. 

“I’m asking Ritsu to work on it, but I think they might be scattered across your SEKAI so someone has to get them all back together.”

“µ, I swear–” Stage MEIKO says, but MEIKO stops her.

“Thank you for telling us µ. We’ll try and find the fragments of their consciousnesses. But in the future, please let us know before you want to help.”

“Ritsu’s working on it! We’re gonna fix it!”

“I know you will,” MEIKO says, before they’re returned to Street SEKAI.  

Stage MEIKO just grabs the vodka bottle and starts drinking. “Why,” she says, wiping her mouth, “does she have to be like this.”

“She’s got more of a connection to the Metaverse-Es than us,” MEIKO points out. “She’s constantly exposed to a much wider array of human emotion, of course she gets mixed up sometimes.”

“And because she can do that, who knows how long Akito-kun and Haruka will be in comas?”

MEIKO can’t exactly argue with that.

“I’ll go tell the others,” Stage MEIKO says. “And I’m taking this.” She tucks the vodka bottle under her arm and heads back to her own SEKAI.

After locking up the liquor cabinet, MEIKO calls the others to tell them the news. 

Akito arrives first.

“Akito!” MEIKO gasps, “there you are!”

“Akito?! Akito you’re ok!” Len and Rin run up to him and start bombarding him with questions. 

“Where have you been?” “Shouldn’t you be in the hospital?” “Does Toya know you’re ok?”

Akito blinks. “The SEKAI has a hospital now?”

“What?” KAITO asks. “Akito what are you talking about, in the real world you–”

“Real world? We can’t go to the real world.” Akito says. “Did you seriously forget that?”

MEIKO has a bad feeling. “Akito, who are you?”

“Eh? Akito Shinonome?”

“And what are you?”

“A Virtual Singer? Duh? Are you ok?”

MEIKO curses under her breath. 

“Wait, I’m confused,” KAITO says. “Akito, that isn’t funny. What’s going on?”

“I just had a talk with µ,” MEIKO starts, but KAITO’s eyes glaze over. 

“Actually, nevermind,” he says.

MEIKO rolls her eyes. “This is fine, we’ll just take him to µ and–”

“Sorry I’m late!” an unfamiliar voice says. A girl with blue hair and a jean jacket arrives. “What’s the important meeting?”

“Hey, Haruka,” Akito says. “Mostly they’re asking weird questions.”

MEIKO’s mind is racing. Haruka-chan is here, not her own SEKAI, and wearing street clothes. That makes no sense, unless…

Without a word, MEIKO rushes over to Stage SEKAI, and practically collides with her other self.

“I had a–

“--feeling something was wrong,” MEIKO says. Behind Stage MEIKO, there’s something that confirms her concerns. A second Haruka, in her idol outfit.

“They’re Virtual Singers,” MEIKO groans. “So there’s one for each SEKAI.”

“Oh I was scared you were going to say that,” Stage MEIKO says.

“Let’s call everyone.”

if there was a saiki k x proseka crossover, i think these would be the units.

some characters do not have comparisons; and before i dive in, i would like to tell you why. there are simply not enough characters in the disastrous life of saiki k. you may think, "but there are most definitely over twenty characters," and while you would be correct, i am only using pk academy students, and furthermore, virtually only main characters. i highly encourage you to enjoy thinking of either your ocs or the proseka characters being in the group, because i am very aware that without these characters, the story would not be possible!

there were three tdlosk characters i wanted to include, but could not. these are mera, hairo, and arisu. i just couldn't make them fit anywhere, i apologize. i felt like untrained reverse-hermit mizuki every time i had to type out that no character could fit properly into a slot.

be warned, i go on paragraph-long rants in here. like, almost an essay about teruhashi. actually, my vbs rant is very long overall, composed of like two essays. enjoy!

L/N; Nendou(Ichika), Chiyo(Honami), Reita(Saki), and Saiko(Shiho). Most of these are the OGs, and I could see them doing a school band. Don't ask why I thought Saiko belonged here, I hink he would be cute in a school band setting. Or maybe I'm biased. And I think Nendou would play the role of "getting the group back together," and if that makes Nendou play Ichika, so be it. Reita would play the role of "sickly little guy," and also the one ti set everything in motion, so that makes him the Saki of the group! I think Chiyo as Honami explains itself, but it's mostly because I think of Chiyo as having sweetheart/caretaker vibes. Saiko as Shiho, however, seems like an odd comparison. To simplify down so that I'm not blubbering about it nonsensically, they are both relatively tsundere, and while they do want a friend group, they tend to act like they don't need or want it.

MMJ; Suzumiya(Minori) and Makoto(Shizuku). Nobody could possibly fit into the role of Airi or Haruka, and sadly, they both had to be forcefully excluded, and I apologize. Now, onto the hard conclusions I drew and stretching I did. Fair warning, MORE MORE JUMP! is my least favorite unit. I haven't read its main story, and I know next to nothing about the members. However, from what I can tell, Minori, while clumsy and unlucky, has the spirit to do great things. That, I would compare to Suzumiya after her guardian spirit is rehabilitated. While not setting of explosions every other minute, she's still naturally clumsy, and she also has rather high spirits despite that. Makoto as Shizuku was a hard task to pull off, and I feel it may be a disgrace to Shizuku's name. However, considering that Makoto is famous within the TDLOSK-universe, I couldn't not put him in MMJ. His placement as Shizuku was only because I view Makoto as relatively tech-illiterate, so that headcanon of mine allowed me to draw at least one connection. I apologize for the weak conclusion.

VBS; Satou(Kohane), Kuboyasu(Akito), and Kokomi(Touya). Sadly, I couldn't think of anyone to compare to An, I apologize. Teruhashi as Touya explains itself, but I think I should explain why I chose it over Teruhashi as Mafuyu. The reason is; Teruhashi would start singing street music out of spite for her brother, like Touya and his father. As far as I have learned in proseka, while Mafuyu did do lyrics as a method of rebelling from her mother, that wasn't the only reason. While Touya did ENJOY singing, it wasn't something he was set on doing until the end of the main story. With Mafuyu, she already wrote music before meeting Kanade and the others, and still made music outside of Nightcord at 25:00, and it was one thing sje was sure she enjoyed. Teruhashi doesn't seem like the type to be set on something unless she was made to realize she enjoyed that thing seriously, and not just as a method of rebelling. In the show, she, sadly, doesn't do much outside of what she thinks will make her seem like the perfect pretty girl, most exemplified when she goes for ramen with Nendou, Kaidou, and Saiki, and even though it's disgusting, she thinks that not eating it makes her stuck-up. I relate this more to Touya, instead of Mafuyu, because the one person she doesn't act in front of is Makoto. Mafuyu still acts like she is very in-line with her mother's views most of the time, as exemplified by the fact that even when Mafuyu's mother upsets her, she usually holds her tongue. On the contrary, Touya is shown to correct his father, and show his anger to him, such as when, in the VBS main story, his father states "And to think it was from just one bad influence," to which Touya retorts to "leave Akito out of this," because it wasn't Akito's fault he rebelled. Teruhashi is shown to correct and yell at Makoto when he pisses her off, which lead me to connect her to Touya. Moving on from that, I should explain some if my other examples. Satou as Kohane is a strange one, I know, but it works out in my head. Satou is very ordinary, and that is how he views himself. He has plain ambitions, plain interests, and plain hobbies, much like how I would describe pre-Vivids Kohane. This is including the mild social awkwardness. Satou is shown to be a perfect ambivert, knowing how to navigate a social situation, but not typically starting his own conversations. Even before meeting An, while Kohane did have friends, such as Minori, and she could have full conversations with those friends, she has not, to my knowledge, been shown to have started many conversations before she and An started the Vivids. Satou is shown to have only three friends, as far as I can remember, and never does he start a conversation with them, it's always the friends that start the conversations. I feel like if Satou explored hobbies outside of the regular, he, much like Kohane, would find something that brought him confidence and that he enjoyed doing. Kuboyasu and Akito are relatively self-explanatory, but there is some explaining to be done. Kuboyasu, much like Akito, is self-conscious reguarding how he appears to others, and is VERY focused on getting to what he wants, and where he wants to be in his life. In the same way that Akito wants to surpass RAD WEEKEND, Kuboyasu wants to be a normal highschool boy.

WxS; Kaidou(Tsukasa) and Kuusuke(Rui). A strange duo, I know. HOWEVER. Kaidou has an intense need for attention, making him a perfect candidate to be the equivalent of Tsukasa. Kuusuke as Rui explains itself. I sincerely apologize for having two blank spaces in a unit again, but nobody fully fit.

N25; Saiki(Kanade), Akechi(Mafuyu), Aiura(Ena), and Imu(Mizuki). I feel like I'm vaguely insulting Mizuki by comparing them to Rifuta, but simplifying a character's personality is NOT below me. I think I should start with the weakest connection, that being Akechi as Mafuyu. I chose this over Akechi as Emu, and honestly, I'm not sure that was a good decision. The only reason, and I mean ONLY reason, I chose to compare Akechi to Mafuyu, was because I view Akechi as having had a bad and possibly abusive relationship with his father. It could be me taking a comedy show too seriously, and I won't go too in-depth about the headcanon, because it's not currently important. But anyways, moving on. Saiki as Kanade is very self explanatory, given how they both have wished on multiple occasions to "disappear" or "sleep forever." It's also about Saiki's guilty conscience, relating to Kanade blaming herself for her father's coma. Aiura and Imu as Ena and Mizuki respectively are both very self explanatory.

in short, all four of them are over the moon, head over heels, hopelessly in love with you.

even if other idols look at you differently, these four will look at you with literal hearts in their eyes — so what others think about you is pretty much irrelevant! if what other idols say or think gets under your skin to the point where it upsets you, they will one hundred percent kiss and hug and cuddle your worries away.

you know how in cartoons a character will look at another character they like and their eyes turn to hearts, heart beating out of their chest? yeah, that’s minori whenever you’re around. even if you have past idol experience or no idol experience, she praises you just as much as the others! “[name], that move you did just then was sooo good!!” “good job, [name]! you did the entire routine without any mistakes!” and so on. she also thinks that you’re one of the four prettiest girls she’s ever met, and she’s seen a lot of pretty girls! she believes you pull of the gyaru style better than she’s ever seen before, and even researches the style so she can buy things for your outfits!

haruka often finds herself staring at you more than ever, sometimes subconsciously. she can’t help it - she adores you! she admires your work as an idol, compliments you every now and then. “that was an excellent turn, [name]. you were in sync with the music as well.” “good job, [name]. i’m proud of you.” and such. like the others, she finds you very pretty, you have that ‘idol aura’ everyone speaks of. she’s only met a few people with the gyaru style, but believes you can pull it off better than anyone <3.

airi is like, your number one fan in everything you do. you’re effortlessly talented, effortlessly amazing, and effortlessly pretty. she doesn’t give a shit what other idols think about you, and you shouldn’t either! she praises you after you accomplish literally anything. “that pose was beautiful, [name]!” “your dancing was remarkable today, [name]!!” and more. she’s met a few gyaru’s, but none of them compare to you — your outfits are gorgeous! she’ll often recommend a few stores for you to shop at if you haven’t already, she’s done plenty of research!

shizuku being naturally affectionate, not a day goes by where she doesn’t appreciate you. she thanks you when you find her after she gets lost when on a walk, or help her with her phone if it won’t turn on, even going a bit overboard with her praise during practice. “that was such a lovely gesture, [name]. i don’t think anyone either than you could do it like that.” “[name], take this as a ‘congratulations on a successful practice’ reward.” and proceeds to kiss you. she’s been told how pretty she is by many people, but she believes you’re equally as beautiful. she’d love to accompany you on your trip to any stores you stop by. if any idol makes the mistake of saying something negative about you while they’re around, they will go off. shizuku and haruka stand by you while minori and airi rip the poor idol to shreds.

I've been thinking about pjsk covers of songs by the Stupendium, so here's a list of thoughts (that I plan to add to)

Leo/Need

Do I even need to say Losing My Patients? I feel like Ichika would very obviously slay both the outfit and the vocals. The rest of them absolutely would too, I just feel like Ichika (and Shiho) would be especially great. Give me an Ichika "first day and I'm rarin' to staaaaart" followed by a Shiho "okay, let's look at your chaaaaart."

I feel an intense desire for an MMJ! Vault Number 76. I need it. It's just so very them in a weird way. Like, the first verse is very hopeful, and it does NOT stay that way. I don't know how to say "there's something very Minori about stepping out into a wasteland, expecting to make friends, and then getting shot in the face," in a way that doesn't sound insulting to Minori in one way or another, but I feel like it's true. Also Minori being like "oh hey Haruka! How's it go- please put the gun away please put the gun away" as we see Haruka in her post-apocalypse getup. I also feel like there's something that the barbershop quartet vibe that goes hand in hand with what would make this a good MORE MORE JUMP! song.

The Data Stream. I already did something on this a bit ago and I don't really feel like it right now so I don't have a lot I want to say. But y'know. VBS. Luka. The Data Stream. It feels kinda self explanatory to me, but that might just be because I'm very familiar with the song.

Shine Through? I've only listened to Shine Through once. Tbh most of my VBS songs are just "oh yeah, that would probably be a VBS song" and then I don't think about it any further. Like Impossible Geometry. That seems like it could be a VBS song. Anyway.

Wonderlands x Showtime

Lenenekasa The House Always Wins. Nene The House Always Wins alt. Y'hear me? I honestly have a bunch I could say about this one because I think it's so perfect like Nene House? Nene House? You think she wouldn't slay that? You think Nene would not be the perfect Mr. House?? She would be the perfect Mr. House. And I love it when Tsukasa has to be subtle. Like really I think of it as like a Nene cover with Len and Tsukasa supporting her. Mmmm, but "your safety now provided by the guys at RobCo services" in Len's voice would be yummy... Yeah, Len and Kasa are like the icing on this delicious Nene House cake.

A Matter of Factories! I also made a post about this one. Something's very Niccori Survey Team about it to me, like a team sending an astronaut on a mission and they're giving instructions. And the different lines they're given show their personalities, like Emu's got some of the more cheerful lines, and Nene's lines are more direct and to the point. Also, I really like this song for Emu? Because she's typecast as the over the top villains, and because I think she would look cute in the costume. Especially if it was slightly oversized. Wait, Emu Fiend Like Me??? I'm putting a bookmark in that one.

Neath!. Each member playing a different character. Kanade would be Honest Bob. Because she doesn't fit any of the other characters personality-wise, and because I think her voice would be beautiful in that verse. Mafuyu would be Byron Brimstone. This one feels natural to me, I don't feel like I need to explain it. We've got Mizuki as our chipper narrator, and Ena as the barmaid! I feel like Mizuki's personality meshes well with Harry's friendly demeanor, but also the fact that he's very secretive. We know next to nothing about him, and almost everything we do know about him is because we inferred it, rather than him telling us - much like a certain Akiyama isn't too keen on opening up about herself to others. And just. Mmmm. Ena as Cassie. There's something tasty about it. Not in a weird way. Idk, I feel like I could give good explanations as to why, but the main reason is just, like, it feels good to me. Also, whoever the Virtual Singer is would be Mr. Pages. Maybe MEIKO or KAITO, but anyone could probably work.

The Ribbon? Perhaps? This is one of those ones where I've been like, "hey, that could be a song for this group" a lot, and not thought anything beyond that.

The tsundere girls would rock Rouge's Gallery harder than it has been rocked by any other tsundere girls before. Don't ask what I'm saying. I'm not sure. Anyway. RIN. ENA. AIRI. They would be so great in this. Like you hear it. You hear the song but with Airi Momoi vocals. It works, right? It's good? Yeah. It's really good. Ik that Shinonome Dad isn't a character that sings or appears in any pjsk songs, but if he could I think he should be the owl. And then Ena has the oh that hurts line.

their sekai is the Clubroom SEKAI. just a big ass room that looks vaguely like a modified classroom? it has a ton of hobby things like sewing supplies, gaming consoles, baking utensils, etc. things just kinda appear and disappear on a whim depending on what the girls are doing at the time. Mizuki is, of course, the leader of this group! they created the chat group and pretty much stoked the fire of this new group of friends. I feel like they'd end up in a similar situation as they are with nightcord when they're absolutely TERRIFIED of the group figuring out they're trans their secret, but ay they're having fun, there's nothing to worry about, right? right??

Hanasato Minori

guess what! it was actually Minori's idea to start making music! well, kinda. Minori has already given up on trying to be an idol. after so many rejections she just figured it's time to give up...so she did. however, I think at some point the group gets to hear Nene sing for the first time and it sparks something in Minori. Nene's singing oddly reminds her of Haruka, and it inspires her once more, even if just to sing one song. she's still pretty hopeless all things considered, but she's trying!!

Kusanagi Nene

speaking of Nene! she's pretty much become a psuedo shut-in. ever since Rui has been spending more time with Fantasista SQUAD, Nene's had less and less contact with her one and only true friend, and she's almost lost her passion for singing and theater. oh yeah, and her stage fright is up ten-fold. the group went to a kareoke bar at some point and that was the first time she actually sang in front of everyone, but of course after Minori eggs her on and on, she kind crumples back and is hesitant to actually make anything of her singing. of course she eventually gives in gains some confidence in herself, but AUGH

Mochizuki Honami

and finally, the saddest of them all...maybe besides Mizuki but still--

I won't say too much on her as I know barely anything ab her besides she's a pushover and a people pleaser, and maybe even that's not entirely right, so take my words with a grain of salt. make ur own version of this au's Honami if u like!! anyway--

Honami has been distant from her childhood friends for so long, and she's completely unwilling to try and reconnect, as she sees Aoharu/friends doing just fine...but that's okay! cuz she has her own new group of besties!

More More Jump is next as to follow the order the units are presented in game, so let's get into it.

Once again this is being made before I've seen Nightcord's but... these are my least favourites overall for now. There are some positives which I'll save for the individual segments but I'll just get the glaring issue out of the way.

Why the hell did they prioritise the blue for the skirts?

I know why the blue is there. It's to represent the sea of blue lights from Minori's performance in the main story, and I think including that in their new designs was a nice touch, but it takes over the skirts while each of the girls' representative colours get the minimal treatment. Literally everything about my issues with their new outfits would be solved if the blue and their character colours swapped.

Other than that? I do think the new outfits are nice. I think I prefer their old ones but they do their job as idol uniforms. Unfortunately they look too similar to really say much for each character but I'll try.

Minori's new hair accessory is very nice, not as good as her original, but nice. I like the skirt being longer on one side as well.

Haruka's skirt having the two flowing bits at the back is nice, as is her only having one bit of blue compared to Minori's two. Also she just looks happier than in her initial which is sweet.

Airi still having the sort-if crop top is a nice touch to make her stand out, as is her skirt being longer on the opposite side to Minori's. The blue bit being bigger as well add more differentiation.

Shizuku's looks like it can't be seen that well from behind Minori, but it just gets longer at the back and that's it. I... don't have much to say on Shizuku's.

I don't fully understand the new MMJ Miku. Why the hot pink? I mean she's rocking it but still. The grey fading to white is nice though. I guess it just doesn't fit well with the girls as a group. Maybe if they're giving the other Vocaloids new outfits they'll be matching with her?

I do wish we got something more similar to their in game idol outfits (the ones designed in Shizuku's witch event) but I suppose that was too obvious and also possibly too much to model? They could have just made them simpler but oh well. As it stands they have one glaring issue for me which sadly brings them down as a whole. Their outfits are nice though, they just can't beat their original ones for me. However the art is definitely better here so there's that at least.

I love your art (the way you draw expressions is so delicious) and it made me think about what changes to canon could have caused mmj to turn out this way, and ultimately, I think that it's a matter of all of mmj just coping differently with their situations...

Like, yeah, Minori could have coped with the bad luck and isolation she experienced over and over by lashing out at everyone and herself rather than becoming depressed and listless (before she found her dream)... maybe because something happened and she started to lose confidence in herself and her dream, becoming much more hyper-aware of how far behind she was. Or maybe she saw Haruka later than in canon... or maybe she just started lashing out from the start and it started snowballing from there.

Haruka... Basically, what if she was worse with coping with the pressures of being a top idol and the depression influenced by that and the situation with Mai? Lost faith in herself and others to the point where she completely stopped trying to keep up appearances and couldn't really do her masking behaviors anymore. Especially because laziness to me isn't really a personality trait, it's how people perceive a lack of motivation, and a lack of motivation is usually caused by something else.

Airi, similarly to Haruka, what if the pressure on her, how her agency gradually pushed her further and further away from her dream, eventually broke her spirit instead of causing her to be resistant and angry? Instead of fighting back and becoming even more stubborn, she just can't deal with it anymore and kind of crumples in on herself. I have a few doubts because that pink cat is just so fucking stubborn that the exact same circumstances as canon probably wouldn't have led to what I described above, so there probably would have to be a few changed key events.

Shizuku is the biggest stretch, but ..... I'm thinking that her whole deal in this version of a personality swap au would be that the immense pressure on her to be "perfect" would cause her to react like Arisa did and become more like Arisa, especially with the influence of Arisa herself. And eventually it all builds up to a point where she becomes bitter to survive in the industry. But, as I said, I'm not really confident with how this scenario would play out....

anyway so while it HAS to be a kanade focus bc just look at it, out of the 6 characters left that need focuses, only 2 (rui and ena) need 2dmvs. the tsukasa event song rn is a 3dmv and toya's is a 3dmv bc the teaser said so, but the n25 teaser didn't say "3dmv new stage!" or anything like that. so is it a possibility that the n25 event is an ena focus bc she needs a 2dmv and they can't do three 3dmvs in a row, or that it is a kanade focus but they're giving her another 2dmv, or the teaser doesn't actually mean anything and it's a kanade focus with a 3dmv. and either way how are they gonna handle the focus event lineup if more characters need 3dmvs than 2dmvs and they can't alternate

oh it's definitely kanade and definitely 3DMV. for starters, like yeah just look at the PV; Carnations, Kanzaki Iori saying it's about nostalgia, no way it's not Kanade. and for the MV, they've been evening out how many of each type every character has, so that they will have 2 of each as of their 4th event (obviously this is not the case for Toya due to Mirai, and they're giving out both types to all 3DMVs now but you get the point). Kanade only has 1 3DMV so she'll be getting one with this event.

The reason Kanade's teaser didn't say "new stage" was because the new N25 stage was added with Twilight Light, niigo's song from the 3rd anni image song campaign. also the VBS teaser isn't for Toya's event, it was for their entry in the campaign, and will later be used as the song for their World Link event. Toya isn't getting an event next month.

To be honest, now I think about it, Kanade 3DMV being the sole event next month actually does balance things out. earlier this year they did two 2DMVs back to back for plot reasons (Light Up the Fire and STEP by STEP + Minori and An coincidentally both needing 2DMVs), so b2b 3DMVs was going to happen eventually (also they get 2DMVs now so does it matter?).

so kanade 3dmv leaves you with honami, toya and haruka for 3DMVs and Rui and Ena for 2DMVs, pair Rui and Ena with two of the 3DMV charas and then the leftover one will pair with whoever kicks off 5th rotation. However.

My assumption is that they're gonna try and end the rotation at the event before the half anniversary again, and this almost works but it does require at least one unit lim banner, otherwise you end up going over by 1 event. as someone pointed out to me in a comment earlier the next one isn't really due until april/may but the only way you can get this to work is by having one out of the december/january/february lim slots be a unit lim event. due to vday and wday coming as a pair i think new years might be the one to go (considering the L/n plot new years could work for them. yknow changes and new beginnings).

as an example something like

December: N25 Kanade (3D) -> Minori perm mixed -> L/n Honami lims (3D)

January: VBS WL -> WxS Rui (2D) -> Mizuki Vday lims

February: VBS Toya (3D) -> N25 Ena (2D) -> Akito White Day lims

March: WxS WL -> MMJ Haruka (3D) -> Kanade 3.5th Anni lims

then you have idk saki and an to kick off the 5th rotation

He went on with his day, just waiting to see you again. It wasn't until he was talking with Nene and Rui when they pointed it out

Tsukasa stumbled over his words, his arms flying this way and that. It was funny to see him so out of it, so tongue-tied, but he calmed down. Eventually-

"Well, I mean, of course it's from my lovely co-star! I just...I just wanted a reminder of them throughout the day!!" He did not intend for that to happen at all, but it was nice to pretend he did!

Of course, Rui and Nene both call his bluff, and continue to tease him on it. Tsukasa just tries to not melt from the teasing, or the realization that they could tell you about it later on-

Minori could barely talk, her entire body was just so warm and she couldn't help but replay a kiss that had happened so many times before. The fact it had left a mark on her was enough to make her lose her mind-

"No um, nothing- Nothing happened!! I just...My partner...I-" She burst into a flurry of giggles, simply too giddy to tell them what had happened

Although they get to practice immediately afterwards, Airi continues to poke a bit of fun at how red Minori looked. She couldn't help it, she always got flustered easily when it came to you-

Valentine's Day Ship HC, part 4, VBS ⸜(｡˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝

Reminder: Kohane is a lesbian, An is asexual/acespec, Akito is bisexual, and Toya is gay.

As I mentioned in my VS post, Toya was outed to his family. He's not sure who did it or why, but it happened, and it got him kicked out.

Toya's father is in full belief that Toya turned gay due to the Tenmas and Akito, outright saying he should have known better than to let Toya get so close to a boy who liked dressing like a girl, a girl who was so desperate for attention she basically whored herself off to her friends, and a boy who seemed to be too comfortable putting himself all over Toya (getting him a well deserved punch or two).

While Toya escapes to the Street SEKAI after getting what he was able to pack, including the torn up pieces of his adoption paper given to him by Tsukasa and Saki when they were kids, Akito goes to the Tenma residence for advice.

Akito and Toya had been on a date when Toya's dad sent them both a message telling them he knows. Toya ended up leaving first, and Akito, unsure what to do, decided to go to the one person he knew cared about Toya. He was relieved when Toya showed up later that night, both of them spending the night in the Tenma's guest room.

After hearing what happened, both An and Kohane offered Toya and Akito a place to stay. (Akito: Why me? An: Your dad is probably just as bad as Toya's. Akito: ....shit. Okay, fair.)

An and Kohane tell their dads everything that went on. That's why they're both able to provide a place for either of their two fellow VBS members.

Toya begins turning everything in as "Toya Tenma." When confronted about it, he hesitates before admitting he was kicked out due to his sexuality and how he had been taken in by the Tenma family.

Akito, An, Kohane, as well as Tsukasa and Saki, are there to comfort him when his father finally gets his just desserts (I'm not saying wheter or not he got arrested, I'm leaving that up for debate 👀)

They stand by him as his father loses any and all rights to him and when he is legally adopted into the Tenma family.

Toya makes sure to return the favor when Akito and his sister go to court against their own father. While Akito ends up living with An and her dad, his sister moves in with their partner, Mizuki Akiyama.

An and Akito grow closer due to Ken adopting him (tho Akito chooses to keep his last name as Shinonome). They still have a rivalry, but it's more playful now.

Akito: Fuck you, An. He's the most tolerable Tenma there is. >:/

Double dates double dates double dates-

Kohane likes leaving An little gifts at Weekend Garage. Once in a while they're things she buys, but for the most part, they're crafts she's made during Tsukasa's mandatory Arts and Crafts day between the Unit Leaders.

An adores the little gifts her girlfriend makes. When she finds out most them come from a mandatory Arts and Crafts day held by Tsukasa Tenma (An: Why is it mandatory? Kohane: I don't know, but Tsukasa onii-chan always plans them out with our interest in mind. It's fun and I'm having a good time with him and the others :) An, thinking:....cute....) she goes to him so he can help her plan an artsy date with Kohane.

Much like how Haruka gushes to her about Minori, An will gush to Haruka about Kohane.

They do have to make sure they aren't doing something active, last time An gushed about her girlfriend while they were playing basketball 1v1, she got hit on the head with the actual ball because she wasn't paying attention. :/

Toya and Kohane will sometimes go on friendship dates. Yes, it has led to some people thinking they're a couple.

An and Akito also used to get the "you're such a cute couple" shtick. It stopped when people began to hear Akito refer to Ken as his dad.

It also helped that An is almost always cozying up to her girlfriend and Akito has often been spotted with his boyfriend going into a private booth at Weekend Garage (by private, I mean there's a curtain blocking anyone's view, alongside a father who gives a damn about kids privacy, his own or not).

Kohane likes to take photos of An at random times. While she does enjoy when her girlfriend poses for her, she also enjoys capturing more in the moment photos.

An loves running her hands through Kohane's hair.

Akito and Toya know they don't have to hide their relationship anymore, what with the whole thing with them being taken in by different families and all that jazz, they still rather it just be them. They don't want to hear how brave they were, or how sorry their fellow classmates felt, they just want to have some peace. Thank you very much. :/

Ken and Tsukasa are the boys saving graces. Ken will offer them some privacy whenever they're at Weekend Garage (hence the curtained booth), and Tsukasa will often redirect people away from his little brother and his future brother-in-law.

Akito was 100% expecting some sort of shovel talk from one of Tenmas. He's invited to family game night instead (Akito: who the fuck is she? Kanade: ._. hello. Saki: She's our older sister!! Akito:.... Toya: You get used to it. Sometimes more people join in. :) Akito:....there are more??? Kohane: *shows up* Akito:.....since when-).

Kohane's dad and Ken will often exchange stories about their daughters. They're both proud of them and are happy to see them find joy in each other <3

Ever since adopting Akito into the Shiraishi family, Ken has made it even more known that Weekend Garage was a safe space for those in the LGBT community. If anyone ever needed a supportive dad, he was there for them.

no because this makes me so ill. whenever airi interacts with people outside mmj or ena, who have seen airi's darker moments and struggles first-hand, she always tries so hard to put up that front of the bright and cheerful idol who does anything she needs to to cheer people up. this is especially seen through her interactions with saki and emu, who were fans of her during her time in qt, where she'll sometimes physically bring out the happy everyday mask just to make them smile. just look at her 2023 birthday 4koma. for someone who wants to separate from that past and the pain it carried, she's clinging awfully hard to it.

and i think a huge part of the reason why is the fact airi doesn't really think she can be anything else. her attempts to emulate other idols just resulted in her being worse versions of them, she's never managed to glow and perform in nearly the same way as the idols she looked up as a kid or when she was just starting in qt. just look at airi's relationship with shizuku and how they started their journeys, shizuku was the idol in airi's eyes and she tried so hard to do what shizuku did but she simply couldn't. no matter how hard she tried. she can't glow the way shizuku and haruka do, the way idols are "meant to". the way she taught minori how to glow.

so everything airi does comes back to what she knows she's good at. what she knows works, gets attention on her, what her fans want out of her from her days as happy everyday. she's dramatic, over-the-top, intensely cutesy, using her athleticism for slapstick comedy because that's what works. in happy lovely everyday she uses several moves that happy everyday performed on variety shows so she can entertain the kids, in chasing the radiance beyond the blue sky she throws herself into the water just to get a bigger reaction than her idol smile could do on its own because she knows it won't match up to haruka or shizuku's, in hectic cafe her reaction to the parfait is so aggressively exaggerated the expression has a name that saki can identify immediately.

and it's not like she doesn't enjoy this, she wouldn't be an idol if it didn't bring her joy. but airi says it herself at the end of chasing the radiance beyond the blue sky. the little girl that sat in front of the tv studying idol performances so she could be like them would be disappointed in the idol she's become, but she's content with the work she does as a member of more more jump all the same. but there's a difference between content and proud, and that's something airi hasn't felt about her own work as an idol. she wouldn't have started crying when told she reached someone in happy lovely everyday if she was proud of it.

and you can really see this lack of pride in her work in her colourful festival card. to you who yearns to be an idol puts her in front of the very little girl she believes would be disappointed in the idol she is, and how does airi respond to it? exactly like momoiro no kagi expresses. she's smiling, don't worry about her. don't show the pain of what she went through, not to this little girl who's still excited to become an idol, who still has hope. every time it's brought up, airi redirects the conversation, every time she's reminded of what happened she finds a way to distract herself and the little girl she used to be. anything to not relive that pain, anything to not ruin the dreams of a girl who still has them.

airi isn't proud. how can she be proud of who she is if it's nothing like the dreams she had as a child? she believes the life she lives is a good one, and she'd not give up any of it, but she still wants to hide it from the outside world. the key is rusted, even if it's colourful. even if it works. it's damaged. it's not a key you'd want to show off. how can she be satisfied with that?

yet she keeps going back to the same behaviours she wants to separate from, because that's what works. she doesn't think she can do anything else. that mask will always be part of her, she's accepted that and come to terms with it, but she doesn't want the mask. she never did. but it's stuck to her. and she can't be satisfied, can't be proud, unless she finds a way to take it off. but who would want to follow an idol whose dreams were broken?

it makes me kinda sad how little airi's comms (minus momoiro no kagi) take themselves seriously, especially when you compare them to other mmj comms.

like yeah, they're really fitting for idol songs, and ice drop has some really deep hitting lyrics that mean a lot to airi. but more! jump! more! and parasol cider just don't really have the emotional weight that a lot of other mmj commissions have (even ignoring the really big ones like if and watashi wa, watashitachi wa; dream place, ai no material, worldwide wander, hug. they all have a focus on the experience of the focus character as the forefront of the song and those two airi comms sorta just. don't.)

and even on the point of ice drop, the tone of the song differs so much when you put the instrumentals and vocals of the mmj version against the lyrics they're singing. and this is especially apparent when you watch ice drop's 3dmv. it's like airi is trying to hide the pain being expressed by what she's saying behind a cheerful and joyous performance.

of course, i say all of this like it isn't something intentional. just look at the opening lines of momoiro no kagi:

"Are you angry? Are you crying?" the young girl asked "Don't worry, I'm smiling," the response hung in the air

airi doesn't share these things often, and when she does she tries to distract from it. which is so extremely solid heart of her. but as much as i understand why her songs do this, i'm still a little. saddened by it. because part of airi's struggle is her inability to view herself as an idol, yet she's the one hiding her pain and experiences behind a constantly smiling mask.

as much as she wants to leave it behind. she's still Happy Everyday.

And here’s one of the scarier groups to me. Here’s Part 4, the group review on Happiness Sentai Sunny Sunny (why do the stage groups always have such long names). I think that this group is really interesting. On the surface, it’s a super happy and optimistic group, but to me, there’s a few layers of sadness to them. So let’s get to it!

Major changes are presented from the start with this group. A sort of theme that I noticed about this group, it’s a group of people who had missed chance meetings. Each of them sort of had meetings that almost didn’t happen or happened by a chance. And in this AU, those chances were missed. Mafuyu and Kanade didn’t form 25ji, and based on how Mafuyu’s mask is so firmly on, I think that Mafuyu never heard Kanade’s song (which popped up in her recommendations) so she never contacted K. Either that or Kanade ended up being contacted by that manager earlier in this AU. Still, Mafuyu never met Kanade and never had that feeling of being moved by her song. So by the time this group formed (I’m not typing out their name again), she’s had her facade on for an extra 2 years without an outlet. So yeah, Mafuyu kinda scares me, bc is she gonna explode? Is she a ticking time bomb? Who knows. And then Emu. I’m not sure if she held auditions like she did in the OG main story. From the sounds of it, she recruited Kohane personally (maybe in the park or at school). Since Kohane was recruited by Emu, I guess she never ended up bumping into An. And that is a bit of a tragedy to me bc of how Kohane & An’s story plays out. Especially since An’s 1.5 anni card story kinda reveals that An was pretty lonely before meeting Kohane and that’s why she’s so clingy. And how An inspired Kohane and pushed her to be more confident since we see Kohane with her OG hairstyle during the first convo (she has her short hair and no glasses look later on, but idk if that was bc of necessity or a meaningful change like in OG timeline). So a chance meeting missed. Then with Haruka. I’m not sure how, but Haruka seems to have somehow gotten over her stage anxiety here, but is still retired from being an idol. So I guess since she’s not struggling with her stage anxiety, she doesn’t go to the roof and meet Minori. Another missed meeting.

So another thing I’m wondering about is how exactly Mafuyu and Haruka joined. Mafuyu mentions this group as an out-of-school activity so I’m wondering if maybe there’s some volunteer program or something at Miya that Mafuyu joined and working at Phoenix Wonderland was one of the options. That’s honestly one of the only ways I could see Mafuyu joining and her mom letting her. Also, how the heck did she become troupe leader? I guess the only other person who could be leader would be Emu & uhhhhh that might not be a good idea. But I guess they gave it to Mafuyu because of her perfection and her seniority. And then with Haruka, it sounded like she decided to join voluntarily rather than Emu recruiting her. So I wonder if Emu still actually held the auditions, Tsukasa doesn’t show up since he wants to be a street performer and Rui is with him and not harassing the theme park staff by trespassing, and Haruka auditions instead.

So yeah, they dress up and give out their stage names. I can’t help but notice that Haruka’s tag line is ‘An idol is not built in a day’ and I’m wondering if that’s supposed to be a mention towards the girl who overextended herself in Haruka’s old group as well as a way of showing that Haruka still has regrets but is trying a different path away from being an idol in order to move forward. So unlike OG Haruka, this Haruka still has things she regrets and as a result, can’t let herself be an idol, so she becomes a stage performer instead to still help give hope to people. Also, Kohane now has her makeover look here. But her tagline of persevering beast and makeover, makes me wonder if Kohane just went through her character arc by herself. Or if this is all a part of her stage outfit too by Emu. Who knows. Anyways, they discuss  why Emu gave Mafuyu the impregnable nickname. Gonna be honest, Emu’s reasoning on why she gave that name to Mafuyu doesn’t really make sense to me. Like is she saying that Mafuyu is just sort of unmovable bc she doesn’t show her real emotions and it’s just a mask all the time? She says it was because she wanted Mafuyu to smile, but idk if impregnable is a good stage name for that. But, they’re rolling with it I guess. And they talk about their stage plot and how they should have Mafuyu play a double agent role. So ofc she whips out her dark smile. And oof, wonder if that’s a little bit of her repressed emotions leaking out. Emu insists that they should make it so Mafuyu’s role can also end with a smile or whatever. Honestly, this was a little cheesy for me so I’m skimming through this.

Yeah, this group is a mixed bag for me. It feels bittersweet to me bc of the missed chance meetings and how Mafuyu probably won’t be saved by this. I know I know, Emu wants to get Mafuyu to smile for real, and she did succeed a little in the main OG timeline, but getting Mafuyu to smile and ‘saving’ her feel like different things to me. I’m honestly not sure if Emu is capable of saving Mafuyu and this isn’t a dig at Emu at all. It’s just that Mafuyu is really stuck and Kanade (might be reaching HC territory) was able to reach Mafuyu initially through shared experiences/emotions. Bc Kanade felt despair, Mafuyu was able to relate to Kanade and feel like Kanade could relate to her. So she felt hopeful, if only a little bit. Emu is a hard character for me to read, but I don’t feel like she’s ever reached that pit of despair. Sure she got stressed and saddened when she thought the stage was going to close, but that’s not the same I think. Besides, at this point in time, I wonder if Mafuyu has her Sekai also in this AU? She alone made the Empty Sekai, so I wonder if it would also exist here as well. Hard to say. I wonder if maybe this Mafuyu is sturdier or not as despairing compared to OG Mafuyu and that’s why she even bothered to join a stage troupe in the first place. Still, I also wonder if this might lead to the stage later shutting down, bc I think in a later JP event, Emu’s dad compared Tsukasa to the grandfather and believed in Tsukasa’s abilities. Here, Mafuyu is the leader, and with how she’s faking everything, I’m not sure if Emu’s dad would trust her with Wonder Stage’s future. Hard to say again (I know I keep using this sentence, but it’s true).

So yeah, a fun look at an alternative, but ultimately, I prefer the OG groups for each of the members. If only, because I feel like there paths have less regret in the OG timeline, and bc it feels like there would be more unity with the OG groups. I have no idea what Mafuyu’s actual goal is (there might not be a genuine one and it’s her just trying this out to feel something), Emu still has her OG goal alongside getting Mafuyu to smile, Kohane is supportive of this group but I wonder if she’d eventually stop after awhile, and with Haruka, I also wonder how far she’d go with this group. I don’t have as good as a read on this group compared to their originals.
