Everyone always says "Howard Shore didn't have to go that hard for the LOTR soundtrack" but no one ever talks about the soundtrack for The Hobbit! Are you kidding! It's amazing! It's beautiful! It brings tears to my eyes! It's so good!

was listening to a radio station with classical music and movie soundtracks and they NOT ONLY played concerning hobbits BUT ALSO had a short message before like "Hello this is Howard Shore wishing you a good day, you're listening to XYZ Station" so my day is fucking MADE

An incomplete list of movies where the composers did NOT have to go that hard
How To Train Your Dragon (2010) - I put Test Drive on my study playlist but I can never focus to it bc I'm too busy ascending. what is that motif and why does it do that to me. I've never even seen the movie.
Tarzan (1999) - nothing has ever affected me more than 80s pop star Phil Collins singing about a boy raised by gorillas
Lord of the Rings (2001-2003) - no explanation needed.
let me know which ones I missed lol

"Many people don't realise that Howard Shore did the opening theme for Rings of Power. I love Bear's music but wish Howard would of done more music for the show too. 😊"

more lotr babbling tonight but i just really want to emphasise how much i love the music from the rings of power. i know half the fandom hates the show's guts but i genuinely think it's so fun and beautiful and the music is the Absolute Highlight and without it, it wouldn't be the same in the exact same way that if howard shore hadn't done the lotr and hobbit music for the movies, it would not have felt remotely the same. thank you bear mccreary i love you very much <333 the elrond half-elven theme is probably my favourite but honestly, it's hard to pick because each theme is so distinct and beautiful in its own way and i truly adore the númenor theme, he got that one so so right because it's absolutely nothing like any other music in the lotr adaptations that we've had, stunning musical decisions were made

I like how I can go into my dispensary and ask them for "that shit Howard Shore was smoking when he made the lotr sound track," and they know exactly what I want

There's something about the piece "The Breaking of the Fellowship" that brings me so much comfort from the beginning right through to the end. The way it flows between motifs and carries you away with each member of the fellowship. The hobbits themes are just so perfect, they're earnest in their calls from home. It's like someone has taken my brain, wrapped it in the softest blanket and is lulling me into a gentle peace. Howard Shore is a genius.

A song i will always associate with the House of Fëanor is 'The Kraken' by Howard Shore.
I dont know why exactly, maybe the sense of Dread and power, maybe something else. But every time i'll listen to it i'll think of them and their deeds in the first age.

31.08.2034 - Dusting off my very much neglected musical knowledge to read Doug Adams's The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films. It's a beautifully nerdy book and gives me an excellent excuse to listen to the complete recordings for each of the films again. I'm just over half way through Fellowship at the moment and very much enjoying myself.
Currently reading: The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films by Doug Adams; Morality Play by Barry Unsworth

it utterly fucks me up that in the movies when frodo finishes writing the red book, the music that plays is the starting notes of the breaking of the fellowship

I can't believe I told my dad how I think the choral music in the Two Towers where the ents and the magic forces of primal nature (TM) are concerned is in reference to the music of the aínur the man looked at his feet and perfectly genuinely said 'and do you think Peter Jackson thought of that'
