Why aren't we talking about the real reason male college enrollment is dropping? (Celeste Davis, Oct 6 2024)
"White flight is a term that describes how white people move out of neighborhoods when more people of color move in.
White flight is especially common when minority populations become the majority. That neighborhood then declines in value.
Male flight describes a similar phenomenon when large numbers of females enter a profession, group, hobby or industry—the men leave. That industry is then devalued.
Take veterinary school for example:
In 1969 almost all veterinary students were male at 89%.
By 1987, male enrollment was equal to female at 50%.
By 2009, male enrollment in veterinary schools had plummeted to 22.4%
A sociologist studying gender in veterinary schools, Dr. Anne Lincoln says that in an attempt to describe this drastic drop in male enrollment, many keep pointing to financial reasons like the debt-to-income ratio or the high cost of schooling.
But Lincoln’s research found that “men and women are equally affected by tuition and salaries.”
Her research shows that the reason fewer men are enrolling in veterinary school boils down to one factor: the number of women in the classroom.
For every 1% increase in the proportion of women in the student body, 1.7 fewer men applied.
One more woman applying was a greater deterrent than $1000 in extra tuition! (…)
Since males had dominated these professions for centuries, you would think they would leave slowly, hesitantly or maybe linger at 40%, 35%, 30%, but that’s not what happens.
Once the tipping point reaches majority female- the men flee. And boy do they flee!
It’s a slippery slope. When the number of women hits 60% the men who are there make a swift exit and other men stop joining.
Morty Schapiro, economist and former president of Northwestern University has noticed this trend when studying college enrollment numbers across universities:
“There’s a cliff you fall off once you become 60/40 female/male. It then becomes exponentially more difficult to recruit men.”
Now we’ve reached that 60% point of no return for colleges.
As we’ve seen with teachers, nurses and interior design, once an institution is majority female, the public perception of its value plummets.
Scanning through Reddit and Quora threads, many men seem to be in agreement - college is stupid and unnecessary.
A waste of time and money. You’re much better off going into the trades, a tech boot camp or becoming an entrepreneur. No need for college. (…)
When mostly men went to college? Prestigious. Aspirational. Important.
Now that mostly women go to college? Unnecessary. De-valued. A bad choice. (…)
School is now feminine. College is feminine. And rule #1 if you want to safely navigate this world as a man? Avoid the feminine.
But we don’t seem to want to talk about that."

too many thoughts on the new hbomberguy video not to put them anywhere so:
with every app trying to turn into the clock app these days by feeding you endless short form content, *how many* pieces of misinformation does the average person consume day to day?? thinking a lot about how tons of people on social media go largely unquestioned about the information they provide just because they speak confidently into the camera. if you're scrolling through hundreds of pieces of content a day, how many are you realistically going to have the time and will to check? i think there's an unfortunate subconscious bias in liberal and leftist spaces that misinformation is something that is done only by the right, but it's a bipartisan issue babey. everybody's got their own agendas, even if they're on "your side". *insert you are not immune to propaganda garfield meme*
and speaking of fact checking, can't help but think about how much the current state of search engines Sucks So Bad right now. not that this excuses ANY of the misinformation at all, but i think it provides further context as to why these things become so prevalent in creators who become quick-turnaround-content-farms and cut corners when it comes to researching. when i was in high school and learning how to research and cite sources, google was a whole different landscape that was relatively easy to navigate. nowadays a search might give you an ad, a fake news article, somebody's random blog, a quora question, and another ad before actually giving you a relevant verifiable source. i was googling a question about 1920s technology the other day (for a fanfiction im writing lmao) and the VERY FIRST RESULT google gave me was some random fifth grader's school assignment on the topic???? like?????? WHAT????? it just makes it even harder for people to fact-check misinformation too.
going off the point of cutting corners when it comes to creating content, i can't help but think about capitalism's looming influence over all of this too. again, not as an excuse at all but just as further environmental context (because i really believe the takeaway shouldn't be "wow look how bad this one individual guy is" but rather "wow this is one specific example of a much larger systemic issue that is more pervasive than we realize"). a natural consequence of the inhumanity of capitalism is that people feel as if they have to step on or over eachother to get to 'the top'. if everybody is on this individualistic american dream race to success, everyone else around you just looks like collateral. of course then you're going to take shortcuts, and you're going to swindle labor and intellectual property from others, because your primary motivation is accruing capital (financial or social) over ethics or actual labor.
i've been thinking about this in relation to AI as well, and the notion that some people want to Be Artists without Doing Art. they want to Have Done Art but not labor through the process. to present something shiny to the world and benefit off of it. they don't want to go through the actual process of creating, they just want a product. Easy money. Winning the game of capitalism.
i can't even fully fault this mentality- as someone who has been struggling making barely minimum wage from art in one of the most expensive cities in america for the past two years, i can't say that i haven't been tempted on really difficult occasions to act in ways that would be morally bad but would give me a reprieve from the constant stress cycle of "how am i going to pay for my own survival for another month". the difference is i don't give in to those impulses.
tl;dr i hope that people realize that instead of this just being a time to dogpile on one guy (or a few people), that it's actually about a larger systemic problem, and the perfect breeding grounds society has created for this kind of behavior to largely go unchecked!!!

USAF U-2 Avionics Technician tells why S-300 and S-400 SAMs would not be able to shoot down the SR-71 Blackbird
The SR-71 Blackbird
The SR-71 spy plane, the most advanced member of the Blackbird family that included the A-12 and YF-12, was designed by a team of Lockheed personnel led by Clarence “Kelly” Johnson, then vice president of Lockheed’s Advanced Development Company Projects, commonly known as the “Skunk Works” and now a part of Lockheed Martin. The Blackbird completed its first flight on Dec. 22, 1964.

CLICK HERE to see The Aviation Geek Club contributor Linda Sheffield’s T-shirt designs! Linda has a personal relationship with the SR-71 because her father Butch Sheffield flew the Blackbird from test flight in 1965 until 1973. Butch’s Granddaughter’s Lisa Burroughs and Susan Miller are graphic designers. They designed most of the merchandise that is for sale on Threadless. A percentage of the profits go to Flight Test Museum at Edwards Air Force Base. This nonprofit charity is personal to the Sheffield family because they are raising money to house SR-71, #955. This was the first Blackbird that Butch Sheffield flew on Oct. 4, 1965.
The SR-71 was designed to cruise at “Mach 3+,” just over three times the speed of sound or more than 2,200 miles per hour and at altitudes up to 85,000 feet.
During its 24 years of service, the SR-71 Blackbird gathered intelligence in some of the world’s most hostile environments. The Blackbird evaded all the missiles fired at it and, to this day, remains the only USAF aircraft to never lose a crewmember associated with it; whether in the air or on the ground.
But could the SR-71 be shot down by missile systems such as Russia’s S-300 or S-400?
SR-71 Blackbird Vs S-300 Vs S-400
But could the SR-71 be shot down by missile systems such as Russia’s S-300 or S-400?
‘Looks like I’m going to give the only “no” answer so far,’ Damien Leimbach, former USAF Avionics Technician on U-2 aircraft, says on Quora.
‘The S-200, S-300 and S-400 are amazing platforms, and given their stated performance, the 300 and 400 could probably hit a target at the Sr-71’s speed and altitude. But that is not the same as hitting an SR-71.
‘Now, could those missiles shoot down the version of the SR-71 that existed in the 70’s or 80’s? Sure.
USAF U-2 Avionics Technician tells why S-300 and S-400 SAMs would not be able to shoot down the SR-71 Blackbird
S-400 SAM
Tumblr media
‘But the question was could it shoot down the SR-71 if it were still in service, and if it were still in service, it would have received the same jamming and Electronic Warfare upgrades as other planes have.
‘Would these EW jammer upgrades make the plane immune from those missiles? Yes it would.
‘How do I know? Well, because I spent 6 years, recently, working on the sibling of the SR-71, the U-2 and as an electronics specialist I was directly responsible for installing and maintaining the AN-ALQ 221 jammer that made our high flying (but slow moving) plane immune to those missiles as well.
‘The U-2 and the SR-71 don’t just take pictures. They listen to cell phones. They monitor radios. And they also listen to, record and analyze the frequencies, pulse rates, variable modes and power outputs of enemy SAM systems like the S-200, 300 and 400.’
Knowing everything about S-300 and S-400
He continues;
‘We know everything about them. We know how they work, so it’s very easy to design systems to defeat them. The -300 is 1970’s Russian technology, which makes it about as sophisticated from an electronics standpoint as 1950’s American tech. The 400 is just an upgraded version of that. But we’ve had a long time to study them and build electronic countermeasures.
‘When the Berlin wall fell in 1989, and East and West Germany reunified, the very first thing NATO did was go in and scoop up all the Russian military tech it could find. We got T-80’s, We got Fulcrums and we got entire missile battalions worth of S-300 missiles.

‘When other very poor nations like Belarus and Moldova split away from the USSR, we bought other stuff, like Flankers, Hinds, and more missile systems.
‘Only Russia, China and India operate the -400, but as much as they want access to American markets, I’m more than sure we’ve been allowed to peek at the equipment, and a missile or two may have fallen off a truck somewhere.
S-300 and S-400 could not shoot down the SR-71 Blackbird
‘Maybe its cheating a little, but buying out the competition is the American way. The point is, we know exactly what their missile systems can do and we’ve known for a long time. We build those upgrades into the U-2 and if we still flew the SR-71, we would build them into it as well.’
Leimbach concludes;
‘So, no, if modern weapons can’t even take down the U-2, they could not shoot down the SR-71.’

where the fuck did anakin get those credits to give to c-3po for his market run in tcw
i’ve been trying to find solid info about if the jedi get paid by the republic for being part of the grand army. it makes sense, to me, that the jedi (that are part of the war) have to be on payroll in some way and paid with currency they don’t use so they recycle it in some way. donate it to charity, back to the republic’s cause, to the temple, or just let it collect virtual dust.
but all i’ve found is flimsy quora shit i have no idea is sourced from somewhere and it might as well be someone’s opinion saying: “no the jedi don’t get paid because it’s against their code of conduct. they fight in the war because it’s for peace etc.”
i get that jedi in the order do not get paid simply for being in the order. their clothes, their food, their rooms are all provided for them. financed by something i have no idea what.
they have no need for money, which means that the republic could see them as a way to save a penny. but one of the benefits of paying someone to do a job is that if they screw up that job then there’s someone to blame. theyre registered, and they’re held accountable because they’re getting paid to do something and they didn’t complete it.
i know the jedi would never intentionally screw up things, but i’m thinking in the eyes of the corrupt republic.
but it makes sense that the republic is like, “since you’re a literal general, here’s your salary for being a general.” because that’s just the normal general salary ™, and it just so happens that a jedi is now allowed to be a general. what’s the jedi supposed to say? “no i’m just going to volunteer.” i guess that makes sense too?? there are volunteer soldiers in all kinds of historical wars. but if the republic has the funds to employ, would they not use those funds? volunteer soldiers were used when their side could not possibly finance them. at this point, the republic is still very much capable of employing soldiers with pay.
all this and it’s just to help me justify anakin gets paid and keeps money in an account somewhere because he feels like he’s not allowed to use it on himself but uses it on everything else. ship parts, droid repair, you, etc. he’s lowkey a sugar daddy you don’t even realize how loaded he really is bcos he never talks about it.
but he’s also got broke boy energy 😭someone fucking sedate me i cannot stop going back and forth

Another correction with GenAI as the lead
Leads with a GenAI image, so... still give it a chance? Maybe not written by AI but by a human? Then why so many errors?
A great way to tank yourself as a creator is to use a GenAI image as a cover, as part of your marketing. People will start to doubt if you wrote anything.
So to demonstrate, I'm going to go through the errors in this article. Because often people think, "Oh, self-pub is EASY and I'll make all the mulah" from articles like these, but the hardships aren't showing up.
Tumblr media
The first issue is this table...
Screenshot 2024-12-24
That's an odd thing....
Did you write this?
So this is attributed to Jane Friedman, who is a real person.
The problem with this chart is that this is not her chart. Look at the actual chart here: https://janefriedman.com/key-book-publishing-path/
Huge honking red flag.
This is shaky legal ground, I would think too, attributing a work that is soooo clearly shoddy to a professional.
This is also why it's so filled with errors.
So let's go over the items: Trad Publishing:
Publisher contracts with author for rights to manuscript
Not always easy to sever relationship
Possible royalty paid up front and with book sales; author may need to pay for extras
Offset printing for large runs
Traditional Publishing Today The “Big Five” major publishing groups handle most traditional publishing, earning approximately 25% of their income from ebooks. You must secure an agent to present your work to these (or most other) houses. Getting an agent can be a daunting task, and crafting an agent’s query letter is an art in itself, but it’s necessary to avoid your request landing in their proverbial slush pile. Once a publisher accepts your manuscript, they own its rights, and your contract specifies what they can do with it. You receive royalties, while they manage editing, cover design, marketing, and distribution. You have minimal input or control over these processes, but they cover all associated costs. A traditionally published book can take up to two years to reach bookstore shelves. Royalties from traditional publishers are smaller than those received from self-publishing, but an expected larger number of sales offsets this.
The “Big Five” major publishing groups handle most traditional publishing, earning approximately 25% of their income from ebooks.
Tumblr media
That's their source. No. It's authors who earn about 10-25% from ebook sales of their total sales within traditional publishing. This does not mean the publishers do.
I smell genAI. Like how could you be an author and miss this from your *checks source* Reddit and Quora??? Like really? You're taking these figures from Quora?
Again, for small presses that are genuine small presses, you DO NOT ALWAYS need an agent, however, when dealing with an entity not your own with a long term contract, you should have an IP lawyer or an agent or at least be up on your legal shit before you sign.
Getting an agent can be a daunting task, and crafting an agent’s query letter is an art in itself, but it’s necessary to avoid your request landing in their proverbial slush pile.
This sounds like a copy-paste of the other article?? Is genAI spreading misinformation and bad organization skills?
A query letter ain't that difficult. Does it take time? Yes, but can you learn the art of it? Yes.
To be clear, the system for trad publishing, which is why I have suspicions they didn't really do the research is:
query an agent (usually for bigger presses and medium sized presses)
If you get accepted, then you go to signing the contract with the agent, who usually asks for 15-20% of your total earnings. Money flows first to you.
You have to make a comp package.
The comp package goes out to editors at presses. You need to communicate clearly to your agent which type of publishers you wish to court.
The book is picked up by a publisher who edits your manuscript and often works with you on your press releases, etc. Sometimes you are given control of the cover. If you make the cover yourself, make sure you get paid separately for that. There should be a built-in reversion clause. !@#$ Make sure there is a reversion clause.
The payment from the advance is made out in installments over a long period of time.
If the publisher fails to publish, then the rights should revert back to you. Usually the time period is a year (more likely) or two.
The book is then after copyedits, etc released at a given date.
You get your first payment on the first book signing (usually)
Royalties only happen after the advance amount is met in sales, not before then.
I should note that often people who are shitty at queries are great at synopses and people who are shitty at synopses are great at queries.
So let's go over the list items:
Publisher contracts with author for rights to manuscript
Yes. This is true. Limited rights to publish the manuscript in various forms. The publisher pays for each form of the media which should be delineated in the contract. Look out for in perpetuity. Agent, reversion should be in the contract especially sinc eit's popular these days for publishers to try to screw you over by saying they own your manuscript's license for the rest of your life+copyright time. That's what the reversion is for.
Not always easy to sever relationship
More often than not the publisher severs the relationship with the writer by usually either non-payment or failing to publish. It's often more often than not for the writer to be both paid and published.
The only reason to sever is if there is something egregious.
Possible royalty paid up front and with book sales; author may need to pay for extras
Untrue.
The ADVANCE is the usually 15K-20K for the PoC authors. And that you have to make back in sales. A whopping 20% only make that back. You in effect borrow that against the sale of your book. But if you ask for a lower advance, you better ask for a higher royalty rate.
The "standard" royalty rate is around 20-30% last I saw.
You absolutely do NOT need to pay for marketing, editing, translation, etc. The publisher handles all of that and the covers, typesetting, etc. They sometimes will also assign a publicist, though famously, this is usually for famous white male authors, which shouldn't get me into trouble since it's been reported waaaaayyyy back.
Offset printing for large runs also make books available through online channels
They do absorb the cost for printed books. They do help with listing it on amazon and getting you an official ISBN, etc.
With Indie the problem is the costs are absorbed by the author.
I've known writers to pay up to 5,000-25K dollars to be published. Which is eye watering. And you should be getting full service editing at that point.
You can also circle around and get no profit and face a loss of 4,995. Again, you need great marketing to make any money off of it and be aware of marketing, which you may or may not know.
I've seen authors that only got 5 dollars back from their sales because they simply don't know how to market their book. They didn't do the reading, they didn't start doing the marketing, their marketing is too timid, they didn't know how to network to other writers, etc.
The most successful online sales writers usually write shorter works, nonfiction, and put a lot of effort into doing a professional type setting and layout, including the covers. They really put themselves out there in terms of marketing. They know how to build connections, get onto podcasts, into newspapers and know how to angle themselves so they can break that 10% barrier.
But this comes with an additional cost as well. These people often don't have the time to write another book because the time chasing podcasts and arranging, etc is the time you're not writing. So to be an indie author, you really, really need to be able to make back your investment and research before you write the book.
True Indie authors have to write a TON of books in addition to the marketing. And it's an eye watering amount.
As for combination outfits...
They are often rife with scams, and usually aren't worth your time. It's often better to find a small limited press that's genuine with a genuine track record than to pay a combination press.
The problem is when you do indie there are less automatically there supporting authors to help you out.
BUT getting through the doors of trad publishing is hard and you may, especially as a queer disabled PoC, etc face more discrimination.
Ultimately, the choice is yours, but I wouldn't listen to the idea that Indie publishing is a quick and easy buck either. You have to absorb a lot of costs up front, and have A++ hussle game. This doesn't mean that Trad publishing doesn't have the problem of you having to do your marketing, but there are more support systems in play.
Either way, I'd look at Jane Friedman's actual chart rather than what seems to be an AI generated chart. I defer to people who have experienced it all versus a chart that is wholly inaccurate.
So my last bit of advice is this:
Gen AI is not your friend.
It never will be and never should be used for official articles or images. There is nothing faster to tank your sales than to use GenAI for those things. Nobody wants to read GenAI. And GenAI fails become rapidly apparent when people do things like fact check you and find out you got your info from Reddit and Quora and didn't pause for a hot minute to consider if that was the wisest source, which then makes people think, you're a shitty writer, or you used GenAI. Don't do it. Don't be a creator that steals from other creators, whether they are known to you or not.
Humans love, love when they feel something genuine from your heart and work. Practical effects are coming back in movies.
And there is always someone like me out there that will check your work. And I'll catch you. Like Kenneth Rowe stealing from other writers, despite being a Lit professor. I'll be sure to let people know. And do you want to do that to yourself?
Simply don't do it.

Donald Trump has crushed his rivals in the Iowa caucuses. Should they drop out and let him take on Biden?
From Quora:
Let’s be honest, we all knew this was going to happen and the entire country and by extension the world were bracing themselves for it. However, the biggest news were the exit polls, 2/3 say they feel Trump won the 2020 election and the Biden Presidency is illegitimate, 44% said they were MAGAS and they would vote for Trump even if he was convicted of a crime.
Tumblr media
DeSantis and Haley are road kill at this point. They had their chances, Haley could make it a little closer, DeSantis will stay in only for the inevitable losses to come and drop out within a month, 2 at the most.
The real issue is this one:
Tumblr media
Joy Reid accuses White Christian Iowans of wanting to have people of color 'bow down' to them
Reid argued that evangelicals support Trump because they believe 'immigrants' and 'brown people' are 'illegitimate Americans'
Ok so what is it going to be folks. Trump has a 90% probability that he is going to win the Republican nomination, what are the Democrats going to do about it. Trump owns the evangelicals, all the mocking about him not being a Christian, the anti-Christ, none of them give a damn. He is their guy, their Jesus and he can say and do anything that he wants.
The General election effectively began last night.
The Republicans have made their agenda clear. Biden stole the election, doesn’t matter that everyone knows he did not, doesn’t matter how well he has led the country, doesn’t matter that Trump inspired and led an insurrection against the USA, what matters is what they believe.
Now what do the Democrats believe. Don’t even bother trying to convince evangelicals who have their Jesus martyr victim grifting them for money. Don’t think about those MAGA hatted folks, they want Trump.
There are 40% who are now ‘independents’ in the USA, they hold the balance of power. The Iowa caucuses have very few people but they have spoken for the Republicans, they want Trump, they worship and adore Trump. Trump could shoot them all on 5th avenue and they would gladly bow down. That is the GOP today.
Democrats, start your engines. No more whinging about Biden didn’t manage to overturn the Supreme Court decision to get your student loans cut, sorry kids you will have to pay, not as much as he did get you $50 billion back but not enough for you perfect kids. Millennials ditto, your raises were only 20% this year in your nice cushy jobs. Same for you African Americans, you are complaining the loudest, we hear you, you want more but you won’t get more if you don’t get up and vote for Biden, you will get nothing as Joy Reid has pointed out, you are illegitimate Americans to Trump supporters.
Same for you Latinos, you want to ‘bow down’ to Christian evangelicals. How about you classic Liberals, you like that Christian theocracy because if Trump wins it is surely coming. Oh and you Israel supporters bitching and moaning about Biden who is the strongest Presidential supporter of Israel ever, you don’t like him? Think about what Trump will give away.
Ditto to Ukraine and European supporters, you don’t want Trump, then you better wake up. How about those transatlantic Brits, you and the Aussies who are so dependent and deep in on AUKUS and everything else Biden has done for you, time to step up and support Biden.
I could go on but on the other side, the Saudis will clearly screw around with oil to raise the price of gas to push for Trump who will give them everything. They hate it that Biden is focused on renewables and the lies of Trump on Biden and oil? Hahaha what a joke, Biden is pumping more than Saudi the most oil pumped in the history of the world.
Putin is dancing in the street, he feels he just won the war in Ukraine. Make no doubt about it, Putin wants Trump as does Xi Jin Ping and every other authoritarian including Netanyahu. You like war, you like death you like the end of democracy on a global level, vote for Trump. He will take you down with him.
Oh and yes; Lies, lies and more damn lies you can see them coming. Daily, hourly ever more outlandish than the last ones.
This is the beginning of a 10 month campaign, buckle up, it is going to be the wildest and most important one in US history. Not hyperbole, reality.
Let’s get to work and make sure Trump gets crushed right back in November, 2024.

Hello yaseraphine! How are you? ✨🩷
Please do describe Venus Quincunx Lilith person. Take your time to respond to this askkk🤩
First of all, I am so sorry that I did not answer earlier (it was and it's is still a really busy time 🤡😵)
Unfortunately for you, I am not too familiar with the Quincunx aspect. I think it wouldn't be fair to just spit something you can easily find online on the internet.
I will just share interpretations and articles I found online of this aspect so you can at least have an idea (+me trying to do some kind of description from what I read lol)
VENUS QUINCUNX LILITH
"This alignment can create internal conflicts around themes of attraction and intimacy. There might be a struggle to balance personal desires with societal expectations of beauty and relationships. This dynamic could manifest as feeling misunderstood or unfulfilled in romantic partnerships due to an underlying sense of not fully aligning with one's true nature. While challenging, this aspect also holds potential for profound growth by encouraging exploration into deeper layers of self-awareness regarding love and personal values."
"Some keywords that describe quincunxes are: redirecting, challenging, requiring adjustments, diverting. "
"But inconjuncts are different. 150 degrees separate planets connected by an inconjunct, which is not divided into 360 degrees. Plus, each end of the inconjunct is of different genders. Here, 150 degrees puts the balance between the feminine and masculine planets it touches off-kilter. Because of this lack of balance, an individual with an inconjunct swings between extremes. This is why astrologers call the inconjunct the see-saw aspect.
The worst part of an inconjunct, because of this lack of balance, is that it is nearly impossible for the individual with an inconjunct to see, feel, or sense a clear resolution or solution path to the dilemma the inconjunct presents. Let’s say an individual has Venus, the planet of love in a feminine sign, and Mars, the planet of action in a masculine sign. This person, in matters of love and money, can be overly aggressive, (Mars in a masculine sign,) then swing to overly passive (Venus in a feminine sign.) This person can often self-sabotage themselves in the areas of love and money, and fail understand why they do this."
I found this on quora lol but it seems really informative !
I will still try, however, to bring some kind of interpretarion by basing myself on the articles I read :
From what I have read it seems to be a quite challenging aspect to have. If it is your case, damn you hold a pretty intense energy regarding love, romance, and artistic pursuits ! This aspect seems to bring power imbalances, in interpersonal relationships, but also in the relationship you have towards yourself, your self-expression and your deepest and rawest desires. A person with this aspect might feel a sense of loss when they get into a relationship because they might feel repressed/muffled in their relationships. Freedom is really important for a person with this aspect. However, in contrary to easier and major aspects like trines or a conjunctions, this aspect might make this access to extreme personal freedom almost impossible to attain. It is like you can never be your true and most authentic self no matter how hard you try.
It seems that, to get the positive side of this aspect, it requires constant efforts and readjustments.
Actually, this aspect (the quincunx) kind of reminds me of Saturn or Chiron energy for some reason ? I need to learn more about this aspect honestly
That's it ! It got really long but hey I can't lie about something I don't know lol 😅😂!
Sorry if it isn't what you expected. I still hope you will find the informations you were looking for !

Hey! Hope your having a good day
Do you know if npd savior complex is a real thing (I’m doubting myself) and if you could explain it to me (use simple words if you can) I did try to look it up online but it was just quora and Reddit ableists talking about how it’s abusive and how to destroy the narcissist and how to avoid a narcissist (I think you get it)
Hopefully you have a good ableism free day 💚
(Putting Josh Dun here so I know that I was the one who sent this)
Yes, the NPD "savior complex" is a thing!
A savior complex (also called a "messiah complex" or "white knight syndrome" is when someone feels like they have to help others to a detrimental point for themself and those around them. One may feel that it is their duty or that they were "called" to it, leading to their feeling responsible for helping others. On the other hand, those with savior complexes may feel like they have to help others in order to gain something such as praise or attention. Some common traits include:
Wanting or feeling like you need to help others
Wanting better self-esteem or self-worth (the WebMD article mentions that this is different from narcissism which I think is utter bullshit lol)
Codependency
Thinking you know what's best for others
Craving power over others (the WebMD article says that a genuine want to help others may become a need for power)
Feeling superior to others (the WebMD article notes the white savior complex)
Fantasies of omnipotence (knowing everything)
Trying to change people (new hobbies, behavior changes, etc.)
Always needing to find a solution
Making excessive personal sacrifices (time, money, etc.)
Believing you're the only one who can help
Savior complexes are common in those with delusional or psychotic disorders, as well as bipolar disorder. Based on the traits listed, I would be surprised if it was rare in people with NPD.

A story I stumbled across on Quora... A widow and her children rent the house next door to you. While her religion is different, you welcome her to the neighborhood, but when you learn she actually plans to *buy* the house you’re shocked, you thought the HOA would not allow “those people” to outright own property in the neighborhood. You appeal to the HOA, to no avail, and one fine day she signs the deed and holds a house warming party. You’re furious. The very next day you and your extended family attack, trying to kill her and her family and take over her home. Surprisingly, she puts up a fight. You manage to kill one of her children, but she kills one of yours, and breaks your legs too. You’re now in a wheelchair. The law doesn’t act, and in fact you now collect a monthly paycheck due to your disability. You take the money, but you seethe at the injustice, tell the neighbors how the widow is actually squatting illegally in the house, and how she broke your legs and put you in a wheelchair. Some neighbors actually buy your story, others know you’re full of s#$t but still take your side, because you’re buddies and of the same religion. You then learn that it wasn’t just a random house the widow moved into. Her family originally built the house, but her great grandfather was kicked out by the HOA, which at the time had restrictions on religion. She was also kicked out of her previous home, again due to her religion. She’s doing well now, is hard working, has a great job, makes tons more money than you, has powerful friends. Over the years she has repeatedly offered to bury the hatchet and live side by side in peace. You dismissed these overtures and are now even angrier, and shout your victimhood from the rooftops, collect donations from naive strangers that feel sorry for your handicap, but you use the money to secretly stockpile weapons. Occasionally you have skirmishes, which you always lose. The woman builds a taller fence between your houses and gets a reinforced door. You’re not on speaking terms. You teach your kids that the highest goal in life is to murder your neighbor and die in the process, a sure way to get to heaven. One day the neighbor forgets to lock the door and you, still in your wheelchair but with your wife and kids, grab weapons, break into her house intending to murder the entire family and finally “take back what’s yours”. You manage to torture and kill one child before she and her children beat you to a pulp, kill your wife and another three of your children (you have *a lot*), cross over to your house and tear it apart. You whine about the injustice, and accuse the widow of ruthlessly attacking a cripple, murdering women and children, planning genocide against your family and destroying your home. The end of the story is still being written.

LEARN MORE ABOUT GAZA, PALESTINE AND SHARE
History of Palestine and Israel history (sourced from Quora by Ghassan Khalid Barghouti, a Palestinian, edit: this post was published four years ago):
“First of all, let me give you a brief history of Palestine. Palestine was originally a province of the Ottoman empire akin to a US state or a Canadian province and then got occupied by the British when the Ottoman empire lost in WW1. Current independent countries such as Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon were more or less a part of the Ottoman empire. While each of these countries share similar culture and social make up, their exist some difference, and the people of these countries that were mentioned got independence from the British empire expect for Palestine.
Palestine has an Arab and Islamic majority and a sizable Jewish minority. Some of those Jews lived peacefully in Palestine for generations, some even go back to the Kingdom of Israel. But the larger portion of those Jews came from Europe to escape persecution. They came to Palestine as refugees and they largely lived side-by-side with Mulisms and Christians.
Everything good so far? Now, unfortunately things from there on weren’t as good. Because the world sympathized with Jews as a result of the Holocaust, they decided to grant them a country in Palestine (which didn’t even have a Jewish majority). So naturally the Arabs rejected those move, because for them, it didn’t make sense that you should lose your lands just because another group of people suffered by another group of people were not even part of your continent. So they resisted. Unfortunately for them, the extremist Jewish militias were more organized, and they killed lots of simple farmers and villagers and forced others to flee, and denied them the chance to come back to their homeland after the war was over.
Now forward to the present. You have Jewish-European state sitting upon a land that once had a Mulisms, Christians, and Jews living on it, who were Arabs and many of them identified as “Palestinians”. These Palestinians are now either, second-class citizens in Jordan, or living a very uncomfortable life in the Westbank with checkpoints all over the place, walls separating territories, and extremist settlers living in among them, and sometimes abusing or burning their victims alive.
What do Palestinians want? They want justice as a start. They need to have their land back, and not being refugees anymore.”
I am so sorry that this is a short stamp but these are general things to know on what to do/the history of Palestine and I hope you help, listen, and support. I hope that the Palestinian people are saved and given their beautiful country back.
If I made any mistakes with this post, please let me know so I can correctly share it. Thank you for reading and supporting, I hope you have a good day.

Hi, welcome to my annual reflection on ✨the workplace✨
Each summer I have a student job, and each summer I wonder how in the world I will ever survive an entire life working from 9 to 5 when I can't even stand it for one week. It drives me crazy. When I come back home, I'm too exhausted to do anything productive but I still stay awake until 1am scrolling online so that I can trick myself into thinking that I'm enjoying the life I live.
I came across a few posts from people sharing the same concern. Someone on reddit or quora suggested that after finding what you didn't want to do, you actually wondered what you wanted to do.
Well, first, not work lol.
And, secondly, well, write. The first thing I want to do when I wake up is write. It has been my passion since I learned to hold a pen. Writing helps me understand who I am and understand the world I live in through characters who are their very own person while also being a part of me. Oh, I love creating characters! I love ensemble casts, with diverse and varied personalities (I'm talking about re-pre-sen-ta-tion), relatable or not, with complex but also plain relationships (romantic relationships, platonic relationships, queerplatonic relationships, family relationships, etc.). As a black and pan woman, I mostly write LGBTQIA+ stories with many people of color.
Yeah so um, to go back to that reddit/quora advice, I wondered: could I write for a living? Not write one or more books and publish them (well, also, ngl) but write for people. I mean have you ever had an idea you wanted to write or read but never got a chance to? Well, I think I'd like to fulfill your dream. And if you let me, you might also fulfill mine: find a meaningful way to navigate through what I like to call adult life (which can be translated into making money by doing something I actually like).
So um, after just one week into my new job, here I am, tumblr, trying to ✨capitalize✨ on my passion.
My name is Céleste D. Ocean, and I'd like to bring your imagination to life...and make you pay for it, of course.

Howdy!
I recently saw a reply you made in a post about feeding unfinished fic to large language models like ChatGPT. In there, you said that free-to-use AIs are "free to use because the company who makes them is actively profiting and taking aspects like phrasing, style, etc." I've heard of variants of this idea but could never figure out where it came from. Can you tell me more about the origin of that?
Well I'll start off by saying I'm not an expert in the field, and that AI technology is actually relatively "new" in terms of very recent rapid developments and it's in this stage where the future is generally uncertain. However, as early as now, people are already using AI for commercial works. There was a movie announced where all backgrounds were made with an AI, and a manga that was made near entirely with AI. The rhythm game Cytus has recently drawn ire from fans and even its own creators and designers for using AI generated art instead of the very stylistic art it used to use. The moral and economical issue here would lie in that they still charge the same amount for the game and it's already a game that is criticized by some for its high price point compared to other rhythm games. So not only are they earning more, in a way are putting less effort into the game. Those who purchase it would essentially be paying more for less and the money would not be going to the artists because their styles will have been copied but they themselves wouldn't be credited or paid.
Now for a more direct example, I've also heard reports that publishing houses are being spammed with hundreds of purely AI generated work. This of course directly negatively affects writers trying to get published if only by uhhh what's the word,,,, adding a bunch to the pool (sorry English is my third language).
I myself do writing for companies overseas by editing and writing the info on their websites. As someone from a third world country, this contributes to a good chunk of my income as the local economy is not great. Due to the recent popularity of bots like chat GPT, the market had dropped by a LOT and while at first it was my primary source of income, its not really sustainable anymore.
Now these examples don't all use language based examples but they do show that the creation of AI art forms so far is mostly just harming artists and from the examples such as Cytus and just,, life in general I suppose, as "young" as commercial AI is, we can likely assume that corporations don't intend on making their AI for purely wholistic reasons. The art AI midjourney was even found using stolen art after saying that they don't. AI writing, I believe, is going to be more finicky than AI art and as such, I expect theyd want to do a lot more fine tuning before using it to write whole textbooks while art bots are already being used on book covers and movies, only because you don't need to fact check art.
Sure people can see something is wrong, but with the sheer amount if it used, it's rapidly adapting to fix the anatomical issues in its art. Written work I think would need to be double checked a lot and by a human before they release one making bold claims such as "You can't buy food but you can buy paint thinner from home depot instead" (an actual AI result generated by Quora when I was trying to find a place to eat that Google tool as the top rated answer on the website and proudly presented to me). But that doesn't mean it won't eventually go as far as to take someone's job entirely. It's already starting to take mine.
For a clear cut example, sorry to say I can't name one myself, but you can look at the way AI is already being used this early on and how it's already being used to substitute and replace some artists and writers and how apparently even fanfiction writers who do their work out of love, and look just a few years in the future based on the patterns that have been happening and the way corporations will always value profits over the heart of what they make, and for most the picture of what will happen is a very grim one for art.
The "Origin" of it differs from person to person. Some artists have seen their art put into AIs and their styles mimicked (art which will be very difficult to claim the person who generated it shouldn't be allowed to use for commercial purposes). Some writers who write more boring industry stuff that is very easy to mimic are getting their jobs taken away from them. Others without firsthand experience can only look at examples or patterns and infer a probable and large scale outcome similar to that of Cytus. All in all, to me the backlash and opinion that AI is copying peoples works is more of a social movement with no clear cut origin but a lot of evidence that points towards AI generated writing and imagery being a bastardization of the work of hundreds even if it's just a lot harder to see when it comes to a non visual form of art like writing.
Hmm I think if you want a clearer answer or example, the best personal one I can give you is an article I edited which was so poorly written I sent it back and they had a different writer do it. When it got back to me it was better, but extremely familiar. It repeated phrases from the OG article and had the same problems I had noted (strange wording, odd vocabulary, etc) so I asked them if they had wrote it. Apparently they just put it into chat GPT and told the bot to rewrite it without changing too much, so the bot mimicked phrases and words but changed the flow by adding conjunctions or paraphrasing, but to me, who has read the first persons work several hundred times, I still recognized the style, if I can call it that. The person profiting wasn't Chat GPT, but if the state of AI art is anything to go by, in a few years it could very well be.
(sorry about the long reply and if anything is messy or hard to understand. I am not an organized thinker.)
