SU-stans be like “Steven didn’t enable the Diamonds in CYM, he called them dictators and said that they had a reign of terror!”
He still went along with pretty much everything they said and wanted with only minor protest and then just… gave up entirely and did things their way by throwing a ball like Pink Diamond would have done.
Oh yeah and let’s not forget how he let them treat his friends like garbage and didn’t call them out immediately when they referred to Connie as a “pet”.
He said one thing, but he did almost the complete opposite.
Do you see how that works?
But I guess I shouldn’t be too harsh.
In a way, that is an exact representation of how some white “allies” react to bigots.

so sick of seeing people out there saying "rose's development was in reverse!!!1!1!1 she was good in the end!!!!1!1"...... right.... so tell me when she apologized for like a single thing she did to anyone that wasn't greg (who apparently was the only person to call her out on her shit), show me when she tried to make things better and didn't just run away to live on the beach, go ahead i'll give you time

ya know i dont think id really mind the fact shy rose is an exact copy of The Rose Quartz….if there was a real reason for it.
i just really have beef with it because it wasnt a purposeful thing, its kind of bs that its a coincidence and that pearl just happened to think of the design
like it really would have played off better if like we knew pearl had seen that rose quartz some time before or maybe even an interaction,
or just something that theres a reason this rose quartz looks exactly the same because it really only serves for stevens mother issues fuel when theres two other roses right there that pointedly dont look like our rose quartz, like we could have that shy rose still look the similar, maybe just change the bangs and like put that gem somewhere different at the LEAST
i just really dislike that because she would have been the one immediately pointed as guilty for being that rose quartz and i dont know how she even got away with that
how early did pink diamond bubble those rose quartz?

I should start this page off with one of the best songs in the series. Stronger Than You is probably a lot of peoples favorites, including mine! I really love the 8 bit solo that starts at 1:17, soooo good.

Steven is a Diamond, and that’s okay.
So, Steven’s way too caught up in the fact that he’s a Diamond right now, and therefore a hideous and overpowered monster who can’t hope to be understood by normal humans or normal gems. Let’s talk about that.
For all Steven’s enthusiasm to be a Crystal Gem and to demonstrate his powers, he’s always been weirdly ashamed of how being half-Gem affects his ability to live alongside humans. I don’t think he’s ever really decided how to feel about it. It’s only after seeing Steven growing substantially and changing his hair and getting diamond eyes, now that it’s clear that his physical form is so malleable to how he thinks of himself and what he wants to be, that it really hits me how growing up with Greg and around so many humans has affected his identity. How sort of…quietly unhealthy it was, to go around with his gem covered up all of the time, and his appearance so determinedly human. I mean, think of how upset and ashamed he was when he decided his inhuman aging would screw up his friendship with Connie.
Right now, Steven is a whirlpool of self-loathing mixed into repressed issues and trauma with the Diamonds and hatred for his mother, and because he’s feeling so disconnected from and alienated and misunderstood by both other humans and other gems, because his gem powers are being triggered by his trauma, he’s connected some dots and blamed it all on being a Diamond.

i think the theory that steven separates himself permanently from his gem still remains plausible, its seems like now more than ever he has become more disconnected from his identity as a gem (resenting his childhood, being mad at greg from keeping him from a "normal" household, etc.) and the whole proposing thing harkens back to S02E02 "Open Book" where the book series him and connie were reading ends with the falcon character turning human and marrying the main character of the book (whome steven and connie roleplay as, steven being the falcon). idk how they'd do this and of course its not 100% solid but i do think it's within the realm of possibility and i think it would be and interesting path for steven to take

This was going to be a comic set the morning after Growing Pains, but the next episodes are out tomorrow and I’m just not going to have time to finish it properly, so here’s what little I actually got done.

hi friendly reminder that Greg was poor with no insurance and Steven is undocumented so taking him to the doctor was probably out of the question and by time Greg got the money to take him Steven had already properly developed his healing powers, so let's not hate on Greg for doing his best when there are many many other characters to be mad at for much worse things
