lost numerous lovers, including a woman carrying his child, and including some he was at least partially responsible for the deaths of

lost too many crewmembers to count, and you know he held himself personally responsible for each and every one of those

and then Spock dies, and Kirk fucking AGREES.

He says, yes, you're right. I haven't faced death. Not like this.

All of those deaths he's lived through, and blamed himself for? You're telling me that none of them mean as much to him as the death of Spock? And you want me to read this as. what. Normal friend things?? When he calls Spock the more noble half of his soul?? And says that Spock's katra is his responsibility, just as much as if it were his own???

Rewatching A New Hope and guys. Guys.

We have all fallen for Han's propaganda.

Look, Han might think he's a suave, smooth-talking pilot-slash-smuggler who can outsmart a whole ship of Imperials, and that Luke's a naive little farmboy who's never seen hyperspace before, but honestly?

The whole time on the Death Star, it was Luke calling the shots. Luke bluffed an officer into thinking he was a stormtrooper with a bad comm unit; Han started shooting as soon as the door was open. Luke spent about 2 seconds on the altruistic argument - "but they'll kill her!" - before figuring out Han's angle and swapping to the argument that would win. Luke pulled out a cell block number as soon as the guard asked; Han famously fumbled the first comm call.

We give Luke a bad rap for being an idealistic farm kid, but he's not stupid. He knows when he's being scammed, although he might be a bit loud about calling it out; he's ready for trouble and pretty on the ball with coming up with cover stories. He might expect the best of people - but you know what? It works! People want to live up to those expectations - so they do. Han comes back. His father turns from the Dark Side. People listen.

Han might think he's an idiot, but when you look at everything Han gets up to himself...

We get these people in our lives. People who change the way we see things. They are so bright, just like the sun. And all you want to do is stay in their light, because it makes everything warm. They make everything better. I still get lost in my head. And I get sad for reasons that aren't even clear to me, but as long as I know there's still going to be sun after those cloudy days, it makes it all worth it.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

What is your favorite book, and why?

Its hard for me to pick, mainly because I connect with characters and stories so intensely that the emotions brought forth are so... Real.

My knee jerk reaction is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Its historical fiction, narrated by Death, and follows a little girl who is aptly referred to by the narrator as the book thief. It makes me cry every damn time, the writing style and narration is phenomenal, and I recommend it to everyone I meet.

Contemporary? How To Be A Movie Star, hands down.

If we're talking fantasy, you have to be more specific, because its my favorite genre and is so incredibly vast.

Cozy? A Rival Most Vial.

Epic? Empire of a Vampire

Political? A Strange and Stubborn Endurance, and Swords and Seers

Urban? The entire Tarot Sequence series

Completely bonkers? Tales of Verania.

Romance? Fml. There's too many. Anything by Emmaline Strange.

Leave me some good recs, always looking for more indie authors.

How To Be A Movie Star (TJ Klune)

I'm not even gonna curse this guy's name. Make me cry once, shame on you. Make me cry thirteen times...

How To Be A Normal Person talked about Gus and his grief. About learning to be okay with who you are. About asexual stoner hipters that came into your life and shake your ground with no turning back. It wasn't perfect, but it was pretty amazing.

Same is this one.

Tbh, it's been a while since I've been afraid of sequels. I found a few author I completly trust that I know won't screw up. But for some reason, this one was pretty intimidating. TJK is one of my favorite authors, I know he cares deeply about his characters and the messages he sends with his stories.

But HTBANP was something else, okay?? I loved Gus. I loved Casey. I loved the ace rep and the pot jokes and the Blogger. And I knew this book was going to be different from that, so I wasn't sure if it'd be a good different or a bad one.

It turned out, I really didn't need to worry about that. Josy is a completly different character from Gus. Their dynamic has become one of my all times favorite [“You’re a storm cloud. I’m sunshine. I heat you up and make you leak rain.” (He was sunshine I was midnight rain)]. Actually, I thing the thing that scared me the most was seeing Gus from someone else's eyes. Because the guy was so goddamn relatable. But there was nothing to be scared about, at the end.

How To Be A Movie Star centers on Joshua Erickson, a demisexual actor waiting for his great break. He meets a guy that writes monster porn and that is directing a film were queer characters get to be happy. He gets a main part in a movie. He realizes his passion is acting, not became famous. He is chaotic and messy, and kind and smart. He is lovely.

This book was an adventure. A bizzare, weird, abnormal and strange adventure. I woundnt have wanted it any other way.

It's funny, it's sweet, it's queer.

This book is not perfect (it's far from that). The thing is, I don't care. I loved it.
