It's so fucking crazy that I got back from working in Oregon for 4 months and now immediately am going to Texas to work for another 2.5 months. I'll have spent a collective 3 whole weeks at home before leaving LMAO

#that field tech life is crazy dude #honestly im kind of excited for it even tho its extremely last minute. cus i didnt even get offered the job til last thursday #but anyway i think itll be really good for my resume cus its something that i dont have a lot of experience in (stream sampling)#and the company actually pays pretty decent. AND theyre based out of a nearby city to where i currently live #so when i get back home i might be able to snag a local job with them #jawjackin

Wait, what do the neighbours do to more or less get money? Like what do they do for quests wise?

Howdy's tavern has a board where people can post jobs/quest requests - a lot like in Fairy Tail! a lot of times requests are sent in the mail to any tavern/area that will post them, so you gotta be quick about responding before anyone else does. if the posting was sent in, they have to reply via some form of message to confirm it and essentially say "dont let anyone else take the job, i'm/we're on my/our way"

the quests/jobs have a wide range. sometimes its like "collect this item for me", sometimes its "bodyguard me & my belongings while i travel", and it can be "kill the monster terrorizing my town." it can be anything! it's a mixed bag!

and its a little risky, too. the job postings arent always... In Depth. one time the Neighborhood rushed somewhere because the posting just said HUGE EMERGENCY, LIVES IN DANGER but in reality it was an elderly farmer who had them build a new coop for her chickens before the winter frost. then another time it was all "id like help with a small issue at our town's border" and then the Neighborhood got there and it was a fuckoff huge dragon that they were Not prepared to handle.

the Neighborhood doesnt just take job postings though! their travels often take a while because they'll get into shenanigans/trouble, or in completing one job something else will be asked of them, etc. they also don't always do it for money. if someone's in trouble while they're traveling, theyre gonna help without asking for compensation.

#sometimes their jobs/quests start at home base #sometimes they have to travel #sometimes someone will even arrive asking specifically for them!#the length of their travels also varies wildly #sometimes its a couple days #sometimes its a couple months #one time they didnt return to home base for a year #now THAT was an adventure #rambles from the bog #wh fantasy au #the neighborhood is known for being capable and very helpful #so theyre lowkey celebrities! theyre the pride of their lil town <3 #but yeah their skills and time tends to be in high demand #people will sometimes send their requests specifically to howdy's tavern #in the hopes of the neighborhood picking it up #but yeah honestly they do more Unpaid stuff than paid #they're always doing a coin check - who has what & can they afford a hot meal at an inn #all of them crouched in a circle counting out their collective money after a completed job #thats why theyre always happy when howdy joins - he rakes in So much extra shine #also hes their friend. but with him around they can afford to sleep in beds #oh my god howdy is the neighborhoods sugar daddy #sugarpillar....

#seabirds.txt #seabirds.art #mystery twins #gemeos do misterio #q!bagi #q!cellbit #qsmp #i did research 1920s era clothing for this but i based a lot of it off of their mc skins.#cellbit is a sailor turned vampire who ended up in europe during wwi after fighting naval battles at sea and never came home #bagi becomes a journalist to find him and stumbles across vampires along the way not realizing he had become a vampire too #design notes: this all started off of bagi's newsboy cap which was popular in the 1920s with working men. i put her in men's pants because #wanted to give this energy of working a job traditionally not worked by women at the time. <- women started campaigning to work as #journalists notably around the late 1800s and early 1900s (at least in the us and some european countries (couldnt find info on brazil))#i was thinking of nellie bly when thinking of what bagi would be doing in this au! she also has a bandana to hide her neck where her vampir #bite would be and a hanky for blood clean up. perhaps something from home. cellbit is not concerned with hiding his own neck. he's just #wearing a dress shirt LOL. i feel like cellbit would be fully embracing his vampiric tendencies at this point and a part of more vampire #society than human while for bagi it would be the other way around (she's still looking for him in the human world using vampire resources)#that is why he is so bloodstained. i feel like in his free time he would be freelancing detective work for other vampires maybe to gather u #favors or something similar. he's a little bit fancy because of this but still casual enough that there's no suit involved.

#i just want to enjoy the summer but i feel like i don't deserve to if i'm not constantly trying to become employed again 😭#''apply for jobs then? problem solved'' uh-huh yes but!! i also hate applying for jobs #job seeking can be so incredibly humiliating #first i have to send them a letter BEGGING to be invited to an interview #and then i have to try and convince them that i am actually competent and good at my job even though you have my cv right there #and then afterwards they call me to tell me they found someone who they liked better than me #(or rather someone who was more competent than me judging by their work history etc.)#it's like ''yes we are hiring but not YOU specifically lol''#like. at school if you take a test you get the grade you deserve based on how you did in the exam.#it's something you can actually directly affect yourself #but if someone who's applying for the same job with me has more work experience or whatever they will get hired over me no matter what i do #(at least that's how it usually works on my field)#in which case it doesn't matter if i do well in the interview or nah. bc the other person was always going to be picked for the job anyway #and yes one could say i can then be satisfied if i did my best but it's little consolation when i'm still unemployed!!#and so every time i apply for a job and get rejected it feels like a personal failure #and to avoid that feeling of failure i want to avoid applying for jobs altogether #so yeah. being active in job seeking is more likely to relieve me from this misery but job seeking is ALSO misery. so 🤷‍♀️#that on top of the fact i don't even _want_ to apply for all the open positions on my field #but i feel obliged to because it's what i have a degree on. and when i'm unemployed i don't have the luxury to choose which ones i apply fo #i can't afford to be picky #I DON'T DREAM OF LABOUR I JUST NEED MONEY TO LIVE BUT I ALSO DON'T WANT TO DO JUST ANY JOB! I AM NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR THAT!#i don't want to come home crying from work every day because i hate every single aspect of my life INCLUDING my job 😭#when this semester i actually HAD a job i didn't mind waking up to every morning 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭#it's not fair it's not fair it's not fair #to conclude i don't deserve to enjoy myself in the summer because i'm not doing enough to fix my unemployement situation #(just like i don't deserve to feel sad about being lonely because i don't work hard enough to maintain deep friendships #but that's a crisis for another day! stay tuned ✌️)

I see a lot of people I knew from school posting pictures on their social medias with all their friends doing various fun things together. Meanwhile, I'm sitting at home wishing I could take a group photo with all my Tumblr mutuals to post so I can brag about having the best friends.

#too much of my social life is based on Tumblr but i really don't get out much since I don't have a job and i made like 1 friend in school #so i don't really know anyone to hangout with other than my siblings and my one friend #and i don't go out much exept for occasionally to the library or the store so i don't get the chance to meet new people #i used to have all 5 of my sisters at home and that was all the company i needed #but now they've all moved out except for my younger sister and im realizing that im very deeply lonely #i need to get a social life! but how!#Also i think this is part of the reason I jumped into things too quickly with my ex gf now my best friend #like I was so excited that i had found someone who was just as interested in being friends with me as i was with her #that i misstook my feelings for her as romantic ones cuz i was so lonely and she was such a good friend #and i was so scared to tell her cuz I didn't want to ruin our relationship. it didn't. we're still besties.#but i think im so lonely idk if I'll be able to know the difference between platonic and romantic feelings #and part of that definitely comes from being ace as well #anyways there's my tangent for the night about why I need a better social life and maybe a bit of therapy too #haha that got super personal oops 😬#might delete these tags later

I love how my unintentional excuse as to why Alestair and Idan never have to go to work is because they ran away and basically quit without notice.

#this has always been a part of the story though as the first ever thing I wrote with Alestair involved what happened #but Idan stops working there because of that #Mara's job pays a LOT and is hire based so she can do whatever #Vilissa is like the only character that has to regularly work LMAO #but also Vi wouldn't let Alestair get a job when they were dating #as for Fae she's a sex worker so she does it whenever #Fritz and Jer are employed but they don't even get heavily involved in helping until Love and that is explained away (thanks Vi)#as for other stoires #the children in Sunshine are too young to work #the parents do work and leave regularly but aren't really heavily involved #and the adults just take care of themselves with the stuff they have or work if they want (like Norie)#there is no currently running school in the castle (but there used to be)#Barle is a con artist so he would sell junk he fixed up but after getting kidnapped by Shika he doesn't really worry about that anymore #Shika and Fria have disposable income as they are just looking for Barle (Shika the princess and Fria a royal bodyguard)#and Charlie is a bounty hunter so he has freelance (and later a courier)#Flick and Millie are child and Nick is jobless and he's a bird currently so he just needs to eat a little #Ebers is a fortune teller so she does that whenever #also since Millie doesn't care about school she skips out after Flick shows up #And Flick is basically kidnapped so she doesn't got to school as she can't even go there #Seth is homeless and gets things out of making deals with others which he sometimes sell expensive items to get money #Lia and Giles leave behind their lives to adventure but were previously self employed (small businesses)#Myrtle is a Princess so she has that responsibility and disposable income #Sylas is a hunter but there isn't really any work to be done if most of the kingdom is under a sleeping spell #Nym uses the stuff that Elysa left behind in death but he was a Farmer back home not that he can get back home #Pokey runs the train station and the venue but he also isn't getting a lot of business from the inner kingdom #that's just the main stories lolll #every story has some kinda excuse about not working while the story happens
