Edda Aven They shrieked in pain. 

A single giant spear, sent down from above aiming straight towards their partner, only missed due to a desperate leap. Now, thrust straight through hisher their core, they felt nothing but white-hot agony. 

They cried out for EddaAven their companion, their opposite, the other half of their core, vaguely aware of the struggle between a neigh-god and a single Starfolk. Bit by bit their energy faded, each time they screamed, each time they struggled, each time their other half fell and had their identity torn from them. Until they could move no more, sense no more, and feel nothing but an ever-encroaching darkness. 

No longer did anything hold them back from plunging headfirst into the inky blackness of the void. It was dark, darker than the gates to the realms, than the depths of space, for there, there was at least the pinpricks of stars to lift the slightest bit of the oppressing, suffocating darkness. But no, here, there was no light, no relief. The only glow came from his her their limbs, floating shapes with an ever-weakening glow. The light fading, waning along with the strength to fight, to move. 

They were in the dark for a second. An eternity. Sure that they would not return ever again. They were fading, never to leave anything behind other than a blue orange core for their other half to absorb. Sure of this before-

Light. In an overwhelming spiral of colors, a searing light that burned away the dark. Green mixed in with the blue orange color of their companion, woven into a kaleidoscope, a mandala. In one harsh tug, they were pulled from the void, their near death, and into the plane of existence. 

Faintly sensing their surroundings placed them back on the higher plane, the field of The Ones From Above, high above the six realms and even the Starfield. With the last of their strength they hummed a single question.

No response needed before EddaAven they passed out once more. The pure relief flooding in from the other half of their bond was enough.
