Chapter 5 :
The dawn had finally fallen as the festive vibe kicked in. The booth had officially been closed for business after the long day. While Makio was outside, Seira carefully washed her palette and set it aside to dry, then began packing the dryer paintbrushes and other supplies into her bag. It had been a long and eventful day for her. She had met three of the five leaders of SWORD, as well as her cousin Chi and then there was her encounter with Hyuga Norihisa - not the most pleasant interaction, but surprisingly, it didn't leave the worst first impression on Seira. While she found Hyuga to be a bit stubborn, she was taken aback by how quickly he backed off once she made it clear she wasn't going to sell her displayed paintings. This made Seira wonder, perhaps the stories she had heard about Hyuga from Makio, Shin and Kian didn't tell the actual reality. Her first encounter may not have been ideal, but it seemed there could be more to him than met the eye. Maybe there was more to him than the stubbornness and single-mindedness she had been expecting which couldn't help but make her curiosity rise. Deep in her thoughts, Seira was about to put away the palette she had left on the table when suddenly it slipped from her hand. Her hand remained motionless as she watched the palette fall to the floor. Immediately, a piercing ringing sound echoed in her head, causing her to wince in pain and clutch her throbbing temples. Seira tried to close her fingers, but her right hand refused to budge. The shrill, agonizing ringing made her feel dizzy and short of breath as if she might collapse any second. Steadying herself against the table, she reached into her bag with her other hand and managed to pull out her pills and painkillers. After taking them with some water, she leaned against the table, hoping at least the medication would give her some relief.
This was every other day thing for Seira. But now these debilitating headaches and freezing of her hands were becoming more and more frequent. She longed for the days when she could get through a day without needing to rely on the painkillers, but she knew deep down that those days were not coming back. As she was trying to navigate through the chaos of her body, she could hear faint voices of Shin and Kian, from outside, telling Makio they'd be back soon to help close the booth and gather the paintings. She felt utterly helpless, but she knew that there was nothing she could do but wait for the medications to work their way. Once the pain subsided, Seira tried to move her still-numb hand. It was moving but not freely. Finally, when she felt her breath a bit steady, she reached for her bag and zipped it closed, and that's when she locked eyes with her reflection in the mirror. Her eyes looked heavy, her lips cracked and chapped, her complexion pale. She felt utterly exhausted. " I really should eat something or else I might pass out any minute." Seira murmured to herself as she reapplied her red tint to hide her pale lips. Her appetite had dropped significantly compared to before and she knew this was just the start of a terrifying ordeal that lay ahead. Nevertheless, she needed to eat something even if it meant forcing herself. Despite being prepared for what was to come, Seira felt a sense of fear and uncertainty about how long she could hold out until she could fulfil the dream that brought her to S.W.O.R.D. in the first place.
"Today we truly made a huge income here Seira-chan!" Makio exclaimed cheerfully as she emerged through the curtain, interrupting Seira's thoughts as she handed Seira an envelope, her eyes sparkling excitedly. " Did we?" Seira asked sweetly as she looked at Makio, who eagerly nodded. Looking through the envelope, they had made quite a bit. "Of course we did!" Makio gushed. "So many people came to get their portraits done by you today. You've got magic in your hands, and they couldn't resist!" She plopped down in a chair, using a small electric fan to cool herself off. "And you must be completely worn out, right?" Makio said with a soft pout "But don't worry, Shin and Kian have gone to get your favourite udon for you." she spun in the chair like an excited child making Seira chuckle. Looking back on the day, Seira couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and gratitude. After carefully counting the money, Seira divided it, taking out Makio's share and handing it to her.
Makio looked at the money, utterly confused. "But Seira-chan, what is this for?" Seira chuckled, placing a bundle of cash in Makio's hand. "Makio-chan, this is for you." she said, gently closing Makio's fingers around the money. "You've worked so hard and deserve to be paid fairly." Seira then returned to her bag and pulled out a thick envelope. "And this," she said, walking towards Makio and handing it to her, "is my contribution for the month. Please, use it to help those in need, as you always do." Makio's eyes widened, and her lips quivered. "Seira-chan, don't you need this money? How will you manage your expenses?" To this Seira smiled warmly, patting Makio's cheek affectionately. "My dear, I have more than enough to last me a lifetime. Please use it well for the people who need it the most as you always do." It was true. Seira had earned too much from being the famous anonymous painter for the past six years. She was only eighteen when she started it. Her mentor who was a famous painter got her to display her first-ever gallery which piqued a lot of interest from rich people. They wanted to buy and get more custom-made paintings from her. She had asked her teacher that she had no intention of revealing herself or her details and that she would work taking the stage name Higanbana. And till today she had no plan to tell the world about herself.
Hearing Seira, Makio's eyes were filled with tears, as she got up and lunged forward, wrapping Seira in a tight embrace. "You truly are an angel, Seira-chan!" she cried, her voice thick with emotion. While Makio was embracing Seira she felt her heart drop. Seira was getting thinner by the day. Breaking the hug she held Seira's cheeks and looked at her face with concern. She could see the dark circles and the visible paleness. "You haven't been eating well, have you?" Makio asked sternly, as Seira's nervous expression gave her away. Makio sighed, remembering the effects of Seira's illness that Dr. Leora talked about when Seira had the first fainting scare in front of her. She had asked Dr. Leora about all the treatments, precautions, and effects that would arise in the future. All the effects of the illness were gut-wrenching, and appetite loss was one of them. "Have you been experiencing any other difficulties?" Makio asked, her voice laced with worry. Seira gave Makio a small, reassuring smile and squeezed her hand. "It's bearable, Makio-chan, and you know I'll tell you if it gets worse. I promised, didn't I?" But in her heart, Seira had made a different promise – to face this illness alone, without burdening Makio, Shin, Kian, Chiharu, her brother, or Deamin about it. She had made up her mind that she would go through this all by herself and that leaving this world without being a burden on them was her top priority.
"Where are those two idiots!? How long will it take them!" Makio said angrily as she quickly wiped the tears away, changing the subject because the whole mood was turning gloomy. Seira too shook the tears away as she looked at Makio with a smile thankful that the subject was changed. " Here we are!!" Shin's cheerful voice comes in holding two bowls of Seira's favourite udon as Kian comes from behind holding the other two bags of food and smiling. The two quickly set the bowls on the table as Kian went out to bring two more chairs and placed them near the table. Once settled down the four of them started to eat. Seria took a small bite of it. It tasted bland for her. Lately, she had been losing her taste buds which was making her disheartened because she truly loved them. She knew very well she had to force herself to eat them even if she might have multiple puking episodes later. Shin, Kian and Makio looked at Seira who was now swirling her chopsticks through the udon but not eating them absently. The three exchanged looks as Kian nodded. "Neh-san I heard you sold out well today! How did it feel to paint for crowd work after a long time? Will you continue doing this in future?" Kian asked with curiosity as the other two looked at Seira waiting for her answer. " It felt good Kian-chan. I haven't done crowd work since I came back from New York. I will paint but I won't sell them, not anymore. Today was the last time." Seira said with a smile that conveyed many emotions. "Eat up quickly the fireworks are about to begin." Shin said trying to change the subject as they all started slurping quickly while Seira tried force-feeding herself. "Ah, I almost forgot to tell you Seira-chan. Today I got a call from Yui who's overlooking the project of renovation of Kausmi House in Tourou City. She said the renovation has been completed and the new pieces of furniture have been set. The kids and the staff members who were staying in your family mansion will move in tomorrow morning. Also, Rao called up saying your phone was unreachable. He said that he wanted to talk to you." Makio chimed in slurping up the noodles quickly. " Give him my landline number. I accidentally dropped it from my balcony when I was talking to my brother this morning. It's destroyed." Seira said with a sheepish smile making Makio's jaw drops. " Seira-chan that phone had real diamonds embedded on its back! How did this happen!!!!" Makio yelped and choked on the food as Shin gave her water hurriedly and tapped on her back once she was done drinking water. " Hahaha yes, that's the one I broke. I am thinking of going to buy one from Shannon tomorrow evening." Seira said sheepishly as she ate her udon. " I'll accompany you Neh-san." Kian said giving her a cute smile his mouth full of food making Seira laugh at his cuteness as she patted his head nodding.
" Say Neh-san, you are not wearing the broach you always wear?" Shin asked after he was done drinking water. Seira's eyes went wide as she looked down at her kimono jacket - the brooch was gone! " I did wear it! Where could it go!" Seira quickly stood up and started searching for it frantically. That brooch meant so much to her. After all, her brother-in-law Deamin had given it to her as a birthday gift last year. "I am sure it must be here. We'll find it don't stress yourself Seira-chan." Makio said as they all joined the search. But Seira was panicking, and she could feel it physically - her breathing was laboured, and her hands were trembling as she rummaged through her bag. She had been forgetting things lately, but never this bad where she wouldn't remember at all. That brooch was something she never went without wearing since Deamin gave it to her. She would wear it every day without missing a heartbeat. Seeing how distressed she was, Shin reached out and gently guided Seira to sit down. Crouching in front of her, he looked her in the eyes"Neh-san, listen to me. We will definitely find that broach for you. I promise. So just take some deep breaths with me, okay? Breathe in...and out..." he said soothingly, placing his firm hands on her knees to reassure her as Seira tears didn't slow down. Kian and Makio who were looking for it outside came in to see Seira in cold sweats and heavily breathing, making the two extremely worried for her. " Neh-san it's not outside. But don't worry once the fireworks are over we will go to the Lost and Found booth. I am sure we will find there." Kian said crouching down holding Seira's other hand running soothing circles as Makio pulled the tissues out and gently patted Seira's tears away.
Seira's eyes were a little swollen and her nose was a tad red. She had calmed down, but she still felt heartbroken. The heartbreak was still weighing heavily on her. All four of them had gathered to see where the fireworks would go off. They all decided to stand under the tree far from the crowd since Seira had just gotten a bit steady after the panic attack. To cheer up Seria, Shin had bought her favourite cotton candy in the shape of a funny-looking duck. When Seria saw the cotton candy, she couldn't help but snort smiling while she was almost calmed down. As the countdown to the fireworks began, the crowd around them grew more and more excited. And soon, the night sky erupted in a dazzling display of colourful fireworks. Shin, Kian and Makio stood together at the back, awestruck by the beautiful scene above them. But Seira, standing between them, gazed up with a mixture of melancholy and wistfulness. The thought of saying goodbye to her loved ones was already weighing her heart now the worry of losing her precious broach had added up.
Underneath the sky that was painted with red fireworks now in different parts of the crowd were members of SWORD who were looking at the fireworks with their cherished ones. Seira pulled out her camera and captured the moment - young families, affectionate couples, groups of friends. The transience of nature and the fleeting beauty of a life filled with hope, unity, and resilience were visibly overflowing throughout the crowd. Seira felt a bittersweet sense of satisfaction with the life she had lived so far, which had melancholic feelings running through it. Turning to glance at Makio, Shin and Kian, Seira couldn't help but smile softly, her heart filled with affection for them as she clicked their candid pictures. Their goofy excitement at the fireworks display drew a laugh from Seira, which in turn caught their attention. Kian took Seira's camera as he clicked their group pictures and Seira's solo pictures. Despite Seira's best efforts to conceal her sadness, they could still feel it. But they knew just like how Seira was trying to keep it hidden from them they had to do the same and replace it with happy memories so that when the days of uncertainty that lay ahead of them arrived, they could lean on these memories.
The fireworks had faded into the night sky, leaving a bittersweet feeling in Seira's heart. Seira along with Makio, Shin and Kian had gone to the Lost&Found Booth but her cherished ruby broach wasn't there. The staff there had taken down her contact details and the photo of the brooch, promising to reach out if it was found. Makio had to leave early as she had to go to Kaumi's House tomorrow so she bid her farewell to the three and told Seira not to worry and that her broach will be found. Seira told Shin and Kian that she wanted to stay behind for some time and told them to go back home. The two after continuously making sure that Seira was okay with being left alone went back taking all her display paintings with them. Seira had a glum look on her face as she strolled around aimlessly. That's when a small girl bumped into her falling on her feet. "Oh my! Kiddo are you okay?" Seira asked as she helped the little girl up. The girl's knees were scraped, and her eyes welled with tears. "Neh-san! Help me!" she signed frantically, gripping Seira's kimono sleeve with desperation. Seira, who was fluent in sign language due to her mother's hearing disability, worriedly held the child's hands, bending down on one knee. With a gentle touch, she carefully brushed the sweat-dampened hair from the girl's forehead, her own heart aching at the sight of the child's distress.
Before the Seira could sign anything further, numerous footsteps were heard coming from behind them. Seira looked up to find around five men in black suits and white full-face masks holding metal pipes and baseball bats with nails engraved in their hands. Seira immediately stood up as the little girl hid behind Seira, eyes closed while her shaky hands held the kimono jacket tightly. "Give us the kid quickly!" one of the thugs roared pointing the sharp knife trying to imitate Seira who couldn't help but scoff as she turned around slowly, meeting the terrified eyes of the little girl hiding behind her. Bending a little at the little girl's level "Kiddo," she signed gently, bending a little to meet her in the eyes. "Stand by the tree and keep an eye on my bag for me. Can you do that for this Neh-san?" A sweet smile broke through the tension, and though the little girl couldn't help but tremble in fear, she nodded, her faith in Seira shining through her tears. "You're brave, sweetheart." Seira whispered, her heart aching while giving her a reassuring soft smile. Giving the little girl's shoulder a reassuring squeeze, she wiped the little girl's tears away as the little girl quickly went by the tree nearby where Seira's bag was kept. Seira's gaze shifted to the night sky which was dark and twinkling with millions of stars, as the chaos in front of her was brewing. She began stretching her arms and waist, centring herself as she felt the adrenaline rise within her. " You are messing with the wrong people, young lady! So, I suggest you back off and give us the kid!" the bulky man said swinging the nailed baseball bat once with a threatening tone. A sudden breeze tousled her loose strands of hair, and as she opened her eyes, a fierce smirk crept across her face. Her gaze was icy cold, and the bloodthirst was evident on her face making the thugs in front of her feel the goosebumps rise. She might have been outnumbered but things were about to go down that was for sure, and this was somehow waking up the thrill she had been missing for a long time. With a dramatic flair, she dropped into a fighting stance, ready to unleash everything she had even if she knew that this would take a huge toll on her health. She was ready to risk it.

You know, I woke up this morning thinking about just one thing - that High&Low: The Worst X movie? Isn't actually a Crows Zero x High&Low crossover.
It's a Crows x High&Low.
Which means Katsuragi is totally laughing up his sleeve at these idiot high schoolers.

overwatch men react to you doing the ‘fake bj prank’ 🫦
Reinhardt pulls an almost adorably curious face when you suddenly drop to your knees in front of him, his mouth open in a small ‘o’ that soon turns into an excited grin once he catches sight of you tying up your hair. His hand instinctively comes to his belt - his cock growing stiff and heavy within moments, although his joy deflates almost instantaneously when you stand back up after ‘finding’ your ‘lost’ hairpin. He covers himself with a nearby sofa cushion and waves you off when you giggle and ask why he’s blushing.
Cassidy immediately gets comfortable, he knows the drill. Stubs out his cigar as quick as a flash and all but slams his Peacekeeper on the table beside him. It’s only when he realises you’re actually reaching for something you’d ‘dropped’ on the floor and not ripping his belt off wildly with your teeth does he stand there like an absolute melon. Don’t even ask him about it because he’ll simply lower his hat in shame and mourn over the loss of his cigar. That was Cuban. But you both know he’d forgo many more just for the chance of your perfect lips around his thick cock.
Genji is actually surprisingly hard to prank. If you try to ‘drop’ something or go to pick something up directly in front of him he’s much too quick to do it for you. Always the gentleman, but it grew almost annoying being unknowingly outsmarted by him every time. You had to get real creative with it - kneeling low and close to fiddle with the loops of his trousers gets him spluttering and looking around wildly for someone in the halls, before you pat his thigh and rise with a smile, claiming the new belt you’d got him looks so nice on. He’s adorably confused for a minute, before he mentally vowed to get you back. Although, you fear he may not get the point of the prank because you definitely had the best orgasm of your life after he was done with you. Sigh it’s the little things.
Hanzo raises a brow to you when you slide smoothly to your knees, your hands bundling your hair up until it’s tied back neatly. His back is stiffening the moment any part of you grazes his thigh and he instinctively reaches out to smooth the stray hair that escaped your grasp, the other hand settling upon the button of his waistcoat until…you’re giggling? And he sits back with a small embarrassed huff at his eagerness, a blush settling high on his sharp cheekbones. You pepper kisses all over his face to make it up to him and his fickle pride, which only makes him flush darker. He won’t stay mad for long, but similar to his brother - he’ll plan on getting even. Usually in the form of overstimulating you until you’re teary-eyed and whining or not letting you cum at all :-)
Junkrat is tittering with excitement the moment you walk into the room, let alone your little prank. As soon as you even try to get near him he’s jumping your bones and growling some nasty shit in your ear - you should have known that his insatiable nature would interfere with this. Oh well, might as well indulge him, hm? You don’t even get your dues either - as he’s too busy shimmying your trousers down your hips so he can get his daily taste of that pretty little cunt you were hiding away from him for so long.
Reaper is…not really the type of man you’d like to prank, but who says you’re any type of normal. It’s why he likes you. He won’t even let you finish your little prank because he knew what you were playing at from the start. He thumbs your head with his clawed gauntlet, a growling laugh low in his chest as his heavy cock rests on your face, pulsing hotly against your skin. Hey - you got yourself into this, but service him well enough and he’ll let you cum this time. Maybe? Who knows. He did like your attempt though! You should try and prank him more often if this is the outcome.
Lucio almost has a heart attack when you get to your knees - he had a concert due in ten minutes! But his cock betrays his best interest when it twitches to life and with ashamed (but not rly) delight he goes to fiddle with his trousers only to find…you were licking your thumb and wiping a smudge off of him. The poor guy actually almost beats himself up about assuming what you’re down there for until you explain to him with little giggles between kisses. You have a little something planned after his concert to cheer him up anyways.
Baptiste is like the largest gentleman at heart, so when you even dare squat down to even try and prank him he’s manhandling you so he can eat your pussy first. It gets weirdly competitive when you try to insist on it (so you can perform your epic awesome prank) so now you’re just 69ing. Wrong method right execution? You can’t really find yourself too bothered with Baptiste’s talented tongue deep in your cunt and his cock buried down your throat. Later, maybe. A man who insists his woman cums comes first is a man. Period.
Lifeweaver is too sweet about it to the point it might rot your fucking teeth out. It almost pains you to prank him because you just wanna suck the soul out of him through his dick. He doesn’t even blink when you’re ducking between his legs, or dropping things on purpose because he’ll just fucking help you pick them up. It’s almost infuriating so you instead take your frustrations out on actually blowing him instead. Niran palms your cheek with hands softer than aloe, his cock bulging your cheek as you swallow him deeper. Curse him and his magical body. You just wanna lick him all over.
Sigma is an intelligent man. You know it, he knows it, the ants on the ceiling probably fucking know it. That being said - he was convinced he’d memorised all of your mannerisms completely. So when he pushed back from his desk to greet you and you immediately dropped to your knees, bundling your hair up, he was happy to make quick work of his slacks. He is both humbled and down-crested to find it was a prank. He bundles you into his lap, murmuring nothings to you in Dutch. It’s enough to convince you to make it up to him - to warm his long cock with your perfect cunt while he works. Perfect. Try not to squirm…too much.
Roadhog yeah that ain’t gonna work on him. Not only does he have a sixth sense for when you (or Rat) are up to mischief, he also knows that you know he much prefers your sweet little pussy to your mouth. He thinks it’s worthy of a little punishment. Nothing too big, just something to keep you walking funny for a few days. (Good luck.)
Ramattra is very much accustomed to your human oddities by now, he’s grown tolerant of you (dare I say fond) enough to be unbothered by whatever you do. Treat him like a giant climbing frame for all he cares, you couldn’t make a dent. He knows exactly what you’re up to, and only when you’re whining for a scrap of his attention does he give it to you. Poor, sweet little human, begging for him? He’ll give you exactly what you crave, but you must remember that you asked for this when the silicone of his cock is buried impossibly deep in your tiny cunt, his cold, metal fingers splayed across the small of your back as he tuts down at you. Squirm all you want, Ramattra insists on taking his time with you.
Mauga won’t let you get off that easy either. He watches you go down with a grin that could rival the sharks back at Samoa. Watching you come back up has that smile dropping and an almost evilly mischievous glint appear in his eyes that has your panties just a tiny bit wet. In retrospect it was a good idea to prank him. In truth, when he has his fat, veiny cock buried down your throat and his meaty fingers deep inside of your cunt? It was a great idea. 10/10. In fact you should do it again.
Doomfist knows something is up the moment you tie your hair up because usually he just holds it back for you while he fucks your fac—oh. He quirks a brow at your giggles, but it’s not long until you’re quickly silenced. He soon has you riding his thigh with an intense desperation in your eyes as he thumbs your lip, cooing mockingly at the wet spot on his expensive suit trousers from where he’d kept you there so long. You cum when he thinks you’ve made it up to him, which might be a while, considering how much Akande seemed to be enjoying it, his chest reverberating with every pleased rumble. You’d think twice again next time about pranking the leader of Talon. (Probably…not.)
Also, PSA, if you don’t like my work, block me! Please don’t be negative and leave hate where it’s not needed.

Hey! Do you think you could write some NSFW headcanons for Widow, Mercy, Kiriko, Lifeweaver and Genji (gender neutral afab reader) please? Feel free to ignore if that's too many characters or if you just don't want to do it. Have a great day, and don't forget to drink water dear author!
Sure! I did my best, sorry they’re all so short. I just didn’t want a super long post 😅
Widowmaker NSFW
She can quite literally take you out in ‘one shot’— you’re not certain how exactly she does it, but she touches you in all the right places in quick succession and finds exactly where you need her most in just an instant. You’ve lasted about thirteen seconds at most with this technique of hers, and it was quickly banned from the bedroom unless you asked for it
She’s a very hard biter, like she doesn’t realize she needs to be a bit more gentle. You often wonder if she thinks she’s actually going to inject venom into your bloodstream this way
Eerily quiet responses toward any pleasure, even if you’re doing everything right she makes it hard to tell if you’re doing anything at all. So she tends to be the one in charge, that way you don’t end up questioning your capabilities or doubting her reactions
A slowed heartbeat seems to increase her stamina, though. It’s only somewhat annoying, especially in addition to her lack of emotion toward intimate times. But you refuse to believe she’s not feeling anything at all, either— otherwise she wouldn’t be stepping on you ‘for fun’ unprompted, or initiating half of these encounters
Mercy NSFW
An unpredictable switch— everything that happens in the bedroom is a flip on a coin based on what she’s feeling and when. You never know if you’re about to give or receive, but either way it’s extremely rewarding and it’s hard to discern any complaints out of a night with Angela
She is pretty vocal, makes the nicest noises and lewd sounds you’ve probably ever heard. She definitely sounds like an angel, and it’s worth every touch to hear her sound off while completely red in the face
Maybe a bit too in love with pegging you. As a doctor and being very knowledgeable about the body, she’s rather enthusiastic toward loosening you up and talking about safety before giving you the ramming of a lifetime. Certain recommended positions even relieved your back pains somewhat, to your astonishment
She highly prefers to schedule these exchanges, rather than doing them on a whim. She refuses the ideas of quickies or anything with risk— especially in communal/public areas. You’d need to absolutely guarantee no one will be walking in or she might not ever forgive you for the embarrassment
Kiriko NSFW
Absolutely a brat, and we all know this. You’re not getting anything done without force or a trade, and she clearly relishes in those methods— always a “no” or a “why”, and then the “what will I get in return?”
Hugely into degrading and she’ll meet you halfway, criticizing your every move as if it doesn’t have her writhing in euphoria. She’s mostly in control of the sounds she makes, but when you get enough of a rise out of her the high-pitched noises are totally worth the struggle to get them in the first place. But she tries really hard to pretend like you don’t have an effect on her
She totally abuses her abilities to make you both finish faster, and especially against your will if you intended to take your time. Everything she does in bed is completely in spite of you— you’re fighting to earn the outcome you want, so hopefully you’re up for that kind of challenge
Her attitude is to make up for her low libido, and especially in her inability to last very long. She’s super sensitive, but she’ll never admit it. You’ll figure this out sooner than later though, and she’ll put up even more of a fight with a smirk on her face before you get anywhere near the brink of relief
Lifeweaver NSFW
Undoubtedly has a preference for being on bottom, but absolutely more than capable of being a top if he’s in the mood for it.
He’s sort of a pillow princess, likes having all the work be done for him. Much more of a receiver than he is a giver, but only in intimate moments— he’s much more giving outside of private moments that heavily lack clothing
But he is extraordinarily talented with his mouth, and he knows this. Yet he won’t offer such services without being asked politely, which must include a ‘please’ or he may remind you of your manners. It’s all in good fun though, he likely wouldn’t have refused either way (please ride his face)
He makes a lot of sounds, though they’re always muffled by his hand or pillow— or you. He also super loves using rope for things, like being restrained, and shibari. He gets more excited when he’s trapped and vulnerable in front of someone he likes
And while he’s a gentle top, he makes sure to return every favor you’ve given him on the occasions he does take over. These sessions last significantly longer than when he’s on the receiving end— edging turns out to be a specialty of his. And along the way, he’s more than happy to remind you of your previously indulgent behaviors
More Genji NSFW
Genji is still Genji, and even under all that metal he’s still pretty full of himself. So he totally, secretly, has a mask kink, and goes a bit feral when you wear his helm along with a lingerie or something else enticing (maybe even his hoodie lol). There’s just something about seeing his own visor on you that makes him want to pounce
I don’t imagine he’s super into wireplay/anything that has to do with his mechanics, but he’s not against it. He’s fine with it enough and appreciates you’d find these parts of him just as attractive, it just doesn’t get him going as much as other things do. He will happily indulge you though.
He’s dangerously easy to arouse. Drop one hint, playful or not (but only after the first few intimate exchanges) and he will find someplace to make it quick. Of course, he’s fluent in consent, so he’ll back off if you really were only joking. But otherwise you may often find yourself getting that super-enhanced-ninja special in the strangest secluded areas
And he makes it his job to make sure you cum before he does. On occasion he slips up, and if you’re competitive like that then it can be pretty 50/50. But he praises himself as a gentleman who treats his lover with the utmost care, and will deliver to you everything he has before taking you for his own pleasure

The Undersiders and their Overwatch mains
(This will use OW1's 2/2/2 comp because that's what makes sense and will ignore any chars introduced after the point where that ceased to be relevant) (Obviously this team is initially sponsored by Thomas Calvert/Coil).
Grue: Reinhardt. He protects others, he likes how tactical Rein vs Rein can be, he's big and hits stuff, but it's not overly complicated or focused on accuracy. Brian can and does learn the other main tanks, and later on his Sigma is disgusting, but he was really happiest when it was just him and a shield trying to out-time some other guy with a shield, with the entire team on the line if either screwed up.
Hellhound: Off-Tanks. She doesn't have a main, preferring to pick a char depending on the situation(even going Mei/Brig/Winston if off-tanks are bad in the current patch), but "get in front of the enemy, get hit, hit back harder" are general themes. Was accused of cheating a few times because she runs a custom HUD mod that replaces all text with icons and all numbers with partially-filled bars; this was EVENTUALLY ruled to be assistive mode similar to colorblind mode and officially patched into the game, but she still receives online hate for it regularly(as she doesn't read and exclusively uses social media to post and look at pictures of puppies, she is able to ignore this, giving her the single healthiest relationship with social media possible for a streamer.)
Imp: Offensive flankers. She has a Sombra icon on most social media, has cosplayed as her, and many people call her a Sombra main, but Brian got the game because Aisha saw Tracer in the early advertisements and went "I want that". She does not consider it a win if her team wins. She considers it a win if the opposing team's Mercy or Widowmaker DCs, and will play any char that can accomplish that.
Skitter: Widowmaker, other snipers. Officially flex DPS, any time the Undersiders need someone to play an unusual hero in a new broken team comp, Taylor can pick them up quickly and well, but she's at her best clicking on heads and 180ing to take out Genjis and Sombras who thought no one had seen them coming up behind. Taylor is just very very good at noticing who's absent from the battle and knowing which route is easiest for them to take to get behind the team. Was laddering as Mercy/Ana with Emma's group of friends when she got scouted by Lisa. When solo-queueing she will literally play anyone to keep from getting bored.
Tattletale: Main support, heavily Ana. Shotcaller for the team, good at knowing who's high and who's low on health. Tends to tunnel vision on the fight and get taken out by flankers, but so good at keeping everyone else alive and getting her grenade onto key targets that it doesn't matter much. Lost a 1vs1 as Lucio to Taylor's Battle Mercy and sent her a friend request immediately.
Regent: Zenyatta, maybe Lucio if he's in a good mood or Brian asks nicely. Because:
The Heartbreakers are Canada's premier esports team, coached by former competitive Half-Life 1 player/asshole, Nikos Vasil. Several of his kids have shown up amongst its roster. People complain about nepotism, but the kids are actually mostly very good. Hijack and Cherish were standouts in the early days of Overwatch, with his Hanzo and her Genji working extremely well together, even if they hated everything about it. He eventually ran away and deleted all accounts, but his savings ran out and his attitude was not well-suited for a real job. So he went back to streaming with stolen wifi and his old gaming laptop. After all, if he didn't play Hanzo, no one would notice, right? Lisa spotted him in under a week and promised cash if he'd try out. His rule: No DPS. So now he's their secondary support, with a Zen that out-damages most Soldiers when he tries and at least keeps his healing orb out when he doesn't, and Alec shows up to competitions/conventions in a mask.
Other people:
Glory Girl is an obvious Pharah main, and Pancea learned to play by picking Mercy and jamming her staff directly up Pharah's butt. Amy ends up with more hours logged on AO3 than actual Overwatch despite eventually becoming extremely good as a support player/shotcaller(after leaving New Wave).
Cherish also leaves the Heartbreakers and gets picked up by Slaughterhouse, an extremely aggressive team coached by also-asshole Jacob Black(Jack / ). They peaked during dive comp. She continues to play Genji, and is still miserable.
Scion is Bobby Kotick.
#Worm#Wormblr#Overwatch#Hugin Writes#Alec was the hardest to figure out#But when Aisha is Sombra and Alec is Lucio on the ladder you had better watch out#They duo queue and are exclusively searching for clips for their kill montages#You may win but at what cost#(the cost is being mocked when Alec's 4-man boop is Play of the Game)

Can i please get the shimadas with a samurai partner?
Shimadas with a samurai partner
Hanzo
Low-key thinks you're cool but probably won't say it
He admires your loyalty to your code and the people you swore to protect
You're one of the only people he ever compliments and they're always genuine
Might ask to see your katanas just because he likes to admire good craftsmanship
Genji
High key thinks you're very cool and will you tell you that all the time
Seeing how strong you are and how amazing you are at your job really motivates him to do the same
He also has a katana and he's very proud when he shows you it
Kiriko
Also thinks you're very cool and can and will brag about you
She knows a lot of samurai and their code, but since you're an actual samurai, she asks a bunch of questions
After knowing you for quite a bit she'd be lying if she said she wasn't tempted to also become a samurai

Paring: Hyuga Norisha x OC
Genre: Fluff, Romance, Friendship, Action, Tragedy, Slice of Life, Light Mature(mention of blood, fight scenes and swearing) {P.S No Smut}
.........................................................................
Chapter 4 :
Everyone instinctively moved aside and let Hyuga pass them as he approached the front of the queue. Makio, who was watching them approach, called Seira to come out. Seira heard her saying to come out and greet someone. Since she was still working with so much concentration and devotion on the portrait, Seira didn't respond to her. Murayama, Furuyu, and Seki were close behind Hyuga, Ukyo, and Sakyo somewhat hidden. " Hyuga-san! Glad to see you at our humble shop." Makio said smiling while humbly bowing to the Daruma Ikka's leader. Hyuga gave a small nod of acknowledgement. He moved closer to have a better look at the painting that caught his attention. It was a painting of a beach with a sunset over the ocean. It was as if the symphony of hues were painting the evening sky over the ocean saying their greetings for the day and promising to return tomorrow. His gaze was immediately drawn to a painting of the magnificent Northern Arura. The night sky in the canvas had swirling rivers of greenish-blue light. Some of the vibrant curtains of greenish-blue light were growing more vivid than others. The slightly shadowed mountains with snow in the landscape were making the whole painting breathtakingly magical. The colours and strokes were so precise that it appeared as if the paintings were live images.
Below the canvas, the place of the painting was mentioned as Ilulissat, Greenland. Seeing the painting Hyuga felt this was the closest he could be in front of a miracle or getting close to a mystery that appeared in Greenland. There were some more paintings on display on the other end which looked equally breathtaking. " How much are these for? I want them all." Hyuga finds himself saying as his gaze moves back and forth between the paintings on display with awe. Hyuga was about to touch the Norther Light painting when he stopped himself for fear of damaging it. Makio gazed at the painting, then at Hyuga. "Well, I'm extremely sorry to say this Hyuga-san but these paintings are not for sale." Makio said with a hesitant smile on her face. She was well aware that Seira would not, under any circumstances, sell any of the paintings that were on display as Seira had clearly told her beforehand. Hyuga looked at her with a deadpan look. " I said I wanted it. That means I want it." Hyuga said in a low tone, the threat hanging in the shadows, making Makio incredibly uneasy and scared. Hyuga's temperament and personality were well-known not only in the Daruma region but throughout SWORD. Even though her brother was a well-known officer of Daruma Ikka and she had met most of the Daruma Babies because of him and knew what kind of people they were, Hyuga, the leader of Daruma Ikka, had so many rumours that most of them were too scary to be true, but given his personality, it wouldn't be a surprise if they were. Saying no to him while knowing everything was immensely nerve-racking and imitating for her. "Cha-Cha! Hyuga-chan! You're making the young lady uneasy now. How about we ask the painter, hmm?" Murayama said smiling trying to break the tense atmosphere as he placed his hand on Hyuga's shoulder, which Hyuga rudely removed without breaking eye contact with her, while Makio glanced down anxiously fumbling with her hands avoiding looking at Hyuga.
Seira, wondering why Makio hadn't sent anyone in, moved closer to the curtain. The dull throbbing in her head was making her miserable, and listening to this unknown man speak to Makio in such a rude and forceful manner was making her crankier than ever. Seira squeezed the bridge of her nose and closed her eyes, trying not to show her annoyance because she knew that if she didn't, she would lose her cool and that was the last thing she wanted to happen today. She had been feeling her condition gradually starting to deteriorate and this situation was making things worse for her.
" Like Maiko-chan said these paintings are not for sale. Stop insisting so rudely on wanting it because I am not selling it." Seira's voice was bold, clear, and loud as she stepped out of the curtain, appearing slightly annoyed. She took a few steps forward and stood near Makio, who looked at her with wide eyes. "I think I made my point clear enough. So, if you don't want the portrait, please go on your way but if you want to, please return to the queue and wait your time, just like everyone else." Seira added looking dead straight in Hyuga's brown eyes trying her best not to snap and be as humble as possible while a sarcastic forced smile on her face made its way. As Hyuga's gaze settled upon Seira, it was as if the world around him had faded into a blur, leaving only her in sharp focus. His heart skipped a beat, an unfamiliar sensation that took him by surprise. She was standing in front of him, a soft glow from the setting sun casting a warm light upon her features, and at that moment, he found himself utterly captivated.
Seira's pale green eyes held intensity, and as they met his, he felt a connection, a spark that ignited something within him. His ears seemed to have gone deaf to the sounds around him, and his heartbeat increased swiftly as he kept looking at Seira in front of him. Her eyes were narrowed at him with her arms on her hips in annoyance. Makio pulled her close saying something in a hushed voice that caused Seira to let out an annoyed yet cute tsk sound. "Wait, what? Cute? I find her cute?!" He was taken aback by his emotions for the girl in front of him, whom he had just encountered for the first time. As he stood there, lost in wonder, he knew that he was seeing her not just with his eyes, but with his heart. And as he felt the pull of attraction, stronger and more compelling than anything he had ever experienced, he understood that this was more than just a fleeting interest.
This was the beginning of something. Something that would bring a new turn in his life.
Murayama, who was now somewhat hidden behind Hyuga, peered at Seira, half amused and half curious at how a girl so delicate yet with a strong aura was standing up to the infamous Hyuga Norihisa with such boldness and courage that the very Hyuga, who barely tolerated anyone's boldness, especially towards himself, wasn't going off at her but simply standing there like a statue. Looking at her closer, he felt as if he'd seen her before, but he couldn't remember where or when. But the sense of familiarity was lingering.
" Oh hello! I am talking to you!" Seira snapped her fingers in front of Hyuga taking him out of his trance as he looked at her. " If you want a portrait, get back in the line and wait for your turn. If not, let others get their one." Seira said gritting her teeth while trying to maintain a forceful smiling face. Hyuga was shocked at how he felt speechless in front of her when he was known to be extremely rude to people no matter who they were. Seira's beautiful pale green eyes were shining due to the sunlight falling on her from the side, and it felt like they were pulling him into a trance. In his entire life, he's met a lot of pretty girls but if someone asked him what surreal beauty means he would without doubt say it was the girl standing in front of him was the one. Makio had tried to stop Seira, but she had already moved closer to Hyuga with the same expression. Sakyo and Ukyo immediately moved in front shielding Hyuga with a scowl dangerously cowering over her to imitate her, but Seira stood tall without any fear. Her head was starting to pound harder as a buzzing sound was slowly making its way into her ears and the situation at hand was really making it worse for her. " We shall not bother you miss. Let's go Sakyo and Ukyo." Hyuga said stopping the two immediately giving Seira a small bow which made Seira's frown vanish. In return, she gave a small nod. He didn't know why he was acting like this, these feelings that he was feeling were so foreign to him.
" Everyone please form the line how you had before. I'll begin painting!" Seira said in a loud sweet voice smiling and bowing as people hesitantly lined back up stealing glances at Hyuga who stepped out of the way but kept looking at Seira whose back was now facing him. She was talking to Makio who was yelling with worry while Seira just smiled at her saying something. The flowers on her braided hair caught Hyuga's eyes. Especially the red spider lilies. He had heard in passing about red spider lilies, but it was his first time seeing them and that too so realistically made. Even when Seira went inside and was no longer visible in Hyuga's eyes, he felt uneasiness as if he wanted to see her more. Sakyo and Ukyo who were watching their boss from the sideline couldn't help but be curious. "Seira-san..." her name left his mouth in a delicate whisper as he felt his lips tug into a soft smile, eyes still lingering at the same place where she was moments back. Sakyo, Ukyo, Murayama, Furuya and Seki look at Hyuga in astonishment.
Hyuga Norihisa was smiling and not his infamous smirk but genuinely smiling!?
" How does it feel getting told off by a beautiful girl, Hyuga-chan?" Murayama asked in his annoying teasing tone as Hyuga blocked him, walking away not being able to keep Seira's image away from his mind. Murayama, Furuya and Seki watched Hyuga, Sakyo and Ukyo leave. Murayama suddenly remembered about the broach as he took it out of his pocket and looked at smiling. He recognised Seira was the one who bumped into him earlier because of the familiar voice and outwear. " Murayama, shouldn't we give her the broach back?" Furuya asked curiously hands in his pockets looking at Murayama with one eyebrow raised. A pamphlet comes flying in front of his feet as he bends down and picks it up with his free hand. It was the pamphlet of Seira's Flower Shop. " Warm Hello, Eternal Goodbye huh." Murayama read. The shop's name was in English and was at the Beach Line. He then looked back at the booth. "Well, she really is something, huh! I'll give it to her anyway since I feel like this isn't the last, I am seeing her." Murayama said with a huge smile as he put the broach back in his pocket and held the pamphlet up in the air. Keeping the pamphlet in his pocket the trio walked away from there.

Always nice to see new blogs around! Could you write reader x Genji spending a day at the arcade together and how it would go :D
A Steady Hand
Genji (Overwatch) x Gn!Reader
One-shot, requested, SFW
Summary: Genji and (y/n) take a small trip to the arcade. (Y/n) spots a claw machine and is determined to get a certain stuffed toy. Genji, finds this endearing, after directing their attention to a few other games for some time, they go to get the plush. (Y/n), not succeeding in getting a good angle for the claw, Genji offers a steady hand to help.
Warnings: Romantic intentions, some nicknames used for reader, Genji might be a bit ooc.
(A/N) Genji is one of my top favorite Overwatch characters. Thank you for the request :3 I haven’t written something in some time, so I hope it is good! If I misspell something or make a mistake I’m sorry 3:
Loud noises of various games fill the dimly lit room, purple lighting making it almost difficult to see. Two hands intertwined, exploring the room as their eyes adjust, “Genji! Look over there, look at the claw machines!” a voice calls out, which just so happens to be from the hand he’s holding. Letting his eyes wander the rest of the room for a quick second, Genji then gives a glance to the side. Against the wall, there’s a row of machines with bright colors and a variety of goodies behind their glass exterior. “I see them, yes.” He feels himself get pulled towards them, in the middle of his sentence. With a small sigh, he allows it to happen, and makes sure to keep his grip on his partner’s hand a bit firmer, just in case he somehow gets lost. Or maybe it’s his excuse to hold them tighter, (y/n) wouldn’t know as they’re distracted with the cute stuffed animals. (Y/n) presses against the glass, pointing to a green dragon plush, about the size of a regular teddy bear. “I want that one!” They exclaim, turning to Genji holding their free hand out. “Tokens please!” They demand, eyes locked onto Genji’s, determined for this dragon plush. “(Y/n), we just got here, we should play some other games first.” As soon as the words meet their ears, a pout forms on their face, as they turn away back to the glass with a huff. “I want it.” Genji sighs, pulling them back from the glass. “Let’s go to the other games, maybe they have a bigger version of it.” This obviously is quite the persuasion, because (y/n)’s pout disappears, and instead becomes a bright smile. Genji takes this as his time to lead them away, before they take a look inside the other machines.
Genji places his hands lightly on (y/n)’s shoulder, “You got this, love!” He encourages, as (y/n) plays a simple shooting game. The big screen in front of them projects a little ship at the bottom, which is controlled by the toy gun placed at (y/n)‘s hands. A random variety of ships and aliens appears above their own ship for them to shoot at. The game labeled, Space Invaders. On a big plastic board at the very top of the projected screen. The noise of pews and beeps from the game fills the ears of the pair. “I wish you could of played with me, it sucks bad that the other gun is broken.” (Y/n) says, to keep conversation while they play, and as they try to beat the high score of the machine. “I know, it’s unfortunate. But I think watching you play is fun too, you look cute when you’re concentrating on it.” Genji casually flirts, his grip on their shoulders only so slightly tightening as he says so. “Genji...” They let out a pout, “Quit, I’m trying to beat this…” They focus their attention back at the screen, the beeping getting louder, as they advance to the end. “I did it!” They let their hands off the gun, standing up striking some kind of victory pose. Genji let’s out a low chuckle, looking at them standing there. He runs his fingers through his own hair, which is slicked back by a small grey headband. “Alright, since we played a few games we should go back to the claw machines for your dragon. Wouldn’t want to run out of tokens before you can at least try.”
The couple makes their way back to the machine, hand in hand. “Okay! I can do this.” (Y/n) confidently states, slipping three tokens into the machine. The song comes on in an instant, giving three beeps as the claw comes out of its original spot. Genji’s hands rested on their head, lightly playing with their hair as they both intensely watch the machine, (y/n)‘s hands sit on the joystick, leaning it around trying to center on the dragon that has their heart. They press on the red button, convinced it’s a good placement. The claws go down, just so barely brushing the sides of the dragon, curling back up, and moving back to its original post. “Try again, we have plenty of tokens left.” Genji quickly suggests, hoping his lover won’t get too down from the first attempt, and first fail. (Y/n) gives a nod, slipping another three tokens in the machine, going to try again.
A loud sigh escapes (y/n)’s lips. “I’ve tried, over twenty times now!” They loudly proclaim, turning to look at Genji. “The machine, is obviously broken.” They conclude, crossing their arms. Genji let’s a small hum escape his lips, “I don’t think it’s broken.” He slips three more tokens in, turning (y/n) back around to the machine. He takes their hand in his, leading it to the joystick. He keeps his own hand on theirs, helping guide them. “All you need to do is keep a steady hand, darling.” He continues to lightly press the joystick around, leading his partner to a perfect spot above the green dragon. He taps his partners hand with his thumb, letting them know to press the red button. (Y/n) hesitates, but presses it quickly as to not run their time out. They state hopefully through the glass screen, muttering small pleas of hope. The dragon gets scooped up by the claw’s metal arms. Slowly going over to the drop box, they were so afraid it would fall from its arms for the hundredth time. But, it did not. The claw dropped it into the retrieval box. Genji smiles, and leans down to grab it for them, placing it in (y/n)’s hands. “See? Slow and steady.” He states to them, as they take the dragon. They hug it tightly, “Thank you Genji! You did it!” Genji hums at the praise, “you did it too, I just helped a bit.” (Y/n) wraps their arms around Genji, still holding the dragon with one arm. “I love you so much!” They rub their face into his arm that wrapped around their neck. “I love you, now let’s get home. We are going to go broke if you look in any of the other machines.” (Y/n) attempts to let go, to turn around, but Genji directs them forward, wrapping his arm over their shoulder with a smile, leading to the exit as (y/n) plays with the dragon in their arms.

Took me a while, but I've finally finished writing my thoughts on all 22 Touhou games I've played!!!
I tried to keep it brief but uhhhhhhh it ended up being insanely long anyways ;; Whoops. Maybe someday I'll be able to make full-on video reviews for each of them, there was a Lot I glazed over and a lot that's hard to describe without footage.
But regardless, here it is, my thoughts on Touhou 1-19, plus 9.5, 12.5, and 18.5! (Warning that this may be incomprehensible to a non-bullet hell player 😅)
[TOUHOU 1: HIGHLY RESPONSIVE TO PRAYERS]
The obvious black sheep of the family, HRtP isn't a bullet hell shooter, it's an arkanoid-style breakout game. But even so, I LOVE it. HRtP is very precious to me. It's definitely Hard, VERY hard, and the stage layouts can be a little unfair in places lol, but the controls are tight and responsive, and it's incredibly satisfying to improve.
Or even just to play purely for fun! For a decade, I honestly didn't expect to ever 1cc it, I just enjoyed playing casually, and HRtP is very friendly to that approach, with infinite continues, the ability to max out your starting lives, and a shorter time to complete than the other games. It's almost 30 years old now, but if you like breakout style games or old arcade, I still think it's worth a try! Maybe someone else out there will come to love it as much as I do
[TOUHOU 2: STORY OF EASTERN WONDERLAND]
Touhou's first proper shmup/bullet hell, and it is unquestionably the roughest in the series ;; That's not to say it's bad, just that it's aged a little poorly.
I try not to hold future QoL stuff against the older games, but man, not having a focus option, or health bars for the bosses, is Painful. This game also has some of the worst visibility issues in the series (like, bullets being the same color as the background, with no outline), and also an awful glitch that hurts gameplay (dying SHIFTS YOUR HITBOX. considering that knowing where your hitbox is is VITAL to survival……. yikes), so yeah, I understand why it's not fondly remembered.
But it has its charms!! There's the infamous (gay) conversation in Stage 2, this is the only game in which Genji (Reimu's pet turtle who helps her fly in the PC-98 games) speaks, I think the low cap on lives+easy score 1-ups is an interesting combo, AND this game introduced Marisa!!! Even if her design is very different now
I don't play this one much. If I were to rank all the games this one would probably be second lowest. But it's an okay time and you can still get some tense battles!!
[TOUHOU 3: PHANTASMAGORIA OF DIMENSIONAL DREAM]
The first VS shooter of the series!
Basically the idea is that you clear waves of enemies to both send bullets/attacks at your enemy, and charge your gauge to send even more powerful attacks, or even a boss. First to lose all their health loses the round.
The VS shooters are very chaotic, and the enemy AI can absolutely be unfair ;; But the high energy back-and-forth of a match is extremely thrilling!! I also really adore the final boss of this game, Yumemi Okazaki……. a human college professor from the real world, who came to Gensokyo to try and capture someone to prove magic is real to her school…… and she fights with, science? I find her super charming and fun, one of my favorite final boss characters
Now that I've played other VS shooters, including the game that apparently inspired this one, I can say that PoDD is very rudimentary. But sometimes you don't need a lot of fancy bells and whistles to have fun! Now if only it didn't require button mashing, I would play it more often……..
[TOUHOU 4: LOTUS LAND STORY]
LLS was my favorite Touhou game for a long, long, long time.
A big reason it was a favorite is because it's one of the most beginner friendly games by far. No cap on lives (plus 1-ups are granted by score, one of the easier systems), a free bomb after every stage, you can increase your starting lives significantly, there's a "slowmode" option to help you train, most of the patterns are either exploitable or designed around having no visible hitbox…… etc. It was first game I beat on Hard, way back when I was a teenager and could normally only play Easy mode. That's still a precious memory.
LLS also has one of the best overall soundtracks in the entire series. The fun, dream-like Lotus Love, into the tense and foreboding Sleeping Terror, into the calm anticipation of Dream Land, into an explosive heartpounding finale with Faint Dream ~ Inanimate Dream………. absolutely killer.
LLS has aged a little, it doesn't have much of the "flashy", colorful danmaku Touhou is known for. And despite being GENERALLY pretty easy there are a couple insanely difficult patterns that aren't balanced well. Aside from that, it's a little Too easy for me now (at least on Hard and below), but, I still play it regularly just for fun, and will always have a very special place in my heart for it.
(plus, side note, LLS was the introduction of the Stage 4 gimmick, where something is unique about the 4th Stage, boss, or both. I love Stage 4 gimmicks and miss them dearly in the newer games,,)
[TOUHOU 5: MYSTIC SQUARE]
God I love MS. I love MS so much. Probably my second favorite in the series at time of writing.
MS truly is the Greatest Hits of the PC-98 era. Mima and Yuuka come back as playable characters, the danmaku patterns are fun and unique (so much so that ZUN reused a few of them in future games!!!), it has most of the QoL features LLS had besides the free bombs, it introduced one of my favorite characters (Alice), and this is one of the few games where I actually find the faster characters easier/more fun to play as!! Both due to the bullet patterns themselves and because the 1-up system (point item collection) is especially suited for fast characters.
MS is much harder than LLS, but a lot easier than some of the later Touhou games, so it's a great middle ground in terms of difficulty. I only have 2 major critisicms; 1) while the 1-up system and patterns make fast characters more rewarding, there isn't good balance for the other options, so if you wanna play Yuuka you're kind of screwed. And 2) Stage 4. I actually love the Stage 4 gimmick (dual boss that's followed by a solo fight after you take one of them down), but Lord. Stage 4 has two awful glitches that can happen to you, and bullets that are the exact same color as the background. ZUN why
Besides that though, I think MS just naturally caters to my preferred playstyle (chaotically weaving and dancing through bullet spam), so it's a top tier entry for me :)
[TOUHOU 6: EMBODIMENT OF SCARLET DEVIL]
If MS isn't my 2nd favorite in the series, this one is.
I will say this. EoSD has Aged. Imo, it's aged more than MS has. Being ZUN's first Windows game it's a little rough around the edges; muddy graphics, rough soundfonts, heavier reliance on RNG and bullet spam over intricate patterns, and it's missing certain QoL features that it Feels like it should have (like, the PC-98 games were missing stuff, but those games felt like they were built around the limitations, EoSD has a lot of areas where it FEELS like it was designed with future QoL in mind, but it's just….. missing). It also sucks that EoSD is one of only 2 games that locks you out of the final stage if you play on Easy (LLS is the other one),,
But. EoSD is still beloved for a reason. One of the most solid soundtracks in the series, a fun Stage 4 gimmick (different spellcards for different shot types), score-based 1-up system, the introduction of the Point of Collection line, some Iconic boss battles, etc. AND, one of those weaknesses is actually kind of a Strength for me, because again, my preferred play style is well suited to bullet spam!! Stages 5 and 6 are SO fun for me, even though they're commonly cited as things people DISLIKE about EoSD.
EoSD is definitely unpolished, but it's still one of my top favorites, both for its general strengths and for how it caters well to me personally lol.
[TOUHOU 7: PERFECT CHERRY BLOSSOM]
PCB is my current favorite!!
Of all Touhou games, I feel PCB strikes a perfect balance between being accessible, but also still having challenges for those that want it. The patterns are really a step up from EoSD; with the introduction of a visible hitbox, ZUN could make them both more dense and more complex/unique, but they're designed to still be easily understandable. Other QoL features were added that also help a lot (like the enemy tracker, spellcard indicators on the healthbar, success/fail counters, you can save practice mode replays, etc). There's also good variety in the playable characters, each has their own advantages and disadvantages, and one of the best shot types in the entire series is here (SakuyaA lol).
I feel like just saying that doesn't express my love though, there's truly nothing like weaving through a dense maze of beautiful bullets, and PCB is one of THE best for that feeling. I also love this game's 'special feature'; the cherry borders. Not only are they fantastic for survival and training (the border acting as a shield allows you to try new things and take risks where you otherwise wouldn't/couldn't), you can also utilize them in various way; break them on purpose at optimal points to maximize score, keep them as long as possible to milk graze points, use them to clear difficult patterns and stage sections……. it's just a great system that adds depth without overwhelming the player!!
And of course, I must mention something unique to this game; the Phantasm stage! PCB is the only game that has this. It's basically just a 'hard mode' version of the Extra stage, but, the patterns are both exciting to face and gorgeous to look at, the boss herself is genuinely Iconic, and her theme may be even more so.
PCB is pretty much the full package, and is also my recommendation to new players starting out, 100%.
[TOUHOU 8: IMPERISHABLE NIGHT]
This is the last of Touhou's "holy trio", so to speak, alongside EoSD and PCB. There's not much I can point to that's "wrong" with it, or "worse" than the other two, but idk, I don't feel as positively towards IN. I do still really enjoy it though!
There's a lot of great things about IN; the introduction of Spell Practice, there's two different final stages/bosses, the really cool concept for the playable characters/shot-types (character fight in teams, and once you beat both Finals with all teams you can play as each character individually, for a total of 12(!!!) shot-types), the Stage 4 gimmick is a callback to LLS (you fight Reimu or Marisa depending on your character!!), and of course there's some great bullet patterns in there (Keine and Marisa are standouts to me).
There's a LOT of content, more than most Touhou games, which is great!! But there's definitely some aspects that don't feel well polished, which brings it down a bit. The 'special feature' of this game, the Youkai gauge, is not only insanely confusing and complicated, and it's also not fun OR worthwhile to engage with,,, Maybe if I was a hardcore scorer I'd find some value in it, but…… eh. At least it's not obtrusive or anything. Then there's the solo shot-types….. while it's cool they're there, I don't know if ZUN playtested the solo Humans ;; They are very clearly not designed with solo play in mind and if you like to clear ALL shot-types like I do, this can make it an arduous experience to get through all 12
I think it's mostly these things, plus me feeling kind of neutral on the soundtrack and cast, that make IN not stand out, despite all the content. Still a great game, I play it a lot, just not as often as some other entries.
[TOUHOU 9: PHANTASMAGORIA OF FLOWER VIEW]
The 2nd VS shooter in the series!
Mostly the same exciting, chaotic gameplay as the first one PoDD, though with a few key difference. You can now use Focus, which also ties into a new mechanic, the 'scope', which allows you to freeze falling spirits (helps with setting up combos and crowd control) when they touch it. And, using your spell/special attack gauge causes a 'wave' to ripple out and clear bullets around you. I think overall these are excellent addition and that add fun strategy to gameplay.
However, I'm not great at keeping track of combos or purposefully placing spirits during the constant barrage of bullets,,, And some of the character's scopes are……. not fun to utilize. There's also the same problem I had with PoDD, how rapidly pressing the shoot button hurts my hand over time, and while PoFV actually has an alternate control scheme, that alternative FORCES you into focus mode as you shoot. I want to be able to not think super hard about when and where I shoot, so I can focus on dodging, but this just makes the problem Worse because it hampers my movement ;;
I do like the bullet clearing wave though! Plus, this game introduced one of my favorite characters, Aya, AND brought back Yuuka from the PC-98 era!! It's not a bad game and I've had fun with it. I'm just not crazy about the Touhou VS shooters overall. If I wanna play a VS shooter I'd rather pick something like Twinkle Star Sprites.
[TOUHOU 9.5: SHOOT THE BULLET]
This is the first of the 'photo' games, and I have a soft spot for this one. It can be extremely rewarding to clear a difficult scene, and the whole photography thing is a SUPER interesting take on bullet hell. The one thing that sucks is that there's little incentive to go back to scenes once you've managed to clear them. But I guess that's not the point, it's to slowly conquer the challenges each level throws at you and clear as many as you can.
Very solid game, something you can chip away at over time, if you like bullet hell and like interesting challenges give it a try!!
[TOUHOU 10: MOUTAIN OF FAITH]
MoF is the start of a new era. It's pretty stripped back in terms of gameplay because ZUN wanted to focus on making a basic, polished shmup, and he certainly achieved that. The new engine feel smooth as butter, the graphics and sound are crisp, and the bullet patterns and stages are solid. Some of the core gameplay mechanics have been changed though, and it's a little mixed.
For instance, the bombs have been changed in 2 key ways; there are no longer unique bombs for each shot-type, and using a bomb costs you some of your Power instead of an item. Not having unique bombs takes away an element in picking your shot-type, but I don't mind the bomb itself since it's both effective and powerful. Losing Power can be frustrating, and you can end up in a horrible loop if you lose too much at once, but, MOST of the time I find MoF is very generous with Power, and that combined with not being restricted to bomb items can actually be a really sweet deal.
Most of the other changes are similarly mixed, but ultimately I think they work well together! There's only 1 thing I have major critism of, and that's the removal of practice and accessibility features. There's no more extra starting lives from here on out, which I understand, but it does make me sad, as extra lives allows new players to see more of the game (and allows old players to relax on just-for-fun runs). He also removed Spell Practice, which sucks :( But, by far the most egregious change, is that using a continue starts you over from the beginning of a stage….. and just seeing a stage is NOT enough to unlock it in Practice Mode. This is a HUGE hit to the game's accessibility for new or unskilled players, not even allowing them to practice the stage they're stuck on, or prepare for anything beyond it. If you die on a stage so much you have to continue, what the hell made ZUN think starting the whole stage over with almost no lives would help??
Thankfully, I don't need that accessibility much anymore, and there IS a fanmade practice patch out there. MoF is definitely among my top favorite games of the series, it's just a great basic shmup and great start to the new era. Also shoutout to my favorite final boss theme, Venerable Ancient Battlefield ~ Suwa Foughten Field. Loved it so much as a kid that I would mod it into other games LMAO
[TOUHOU 11: SUBTERRANEAN ANIMISM]
SA is considered the 2nd hardest game in the series, and there is good reason for that. Beyond the patterns and stages just generally being pretty difficult, the lives, bombs, and continues system are very punishing in this entry.
The continue system is exactly the same as MoF, which is to say, brutal and unforgiving. Bombs are also tied to power like in MoF, but unlike MoF, Power only goes up to 4.00 instead of 5.00 (with MarisaA as an exception) meaning less bombs overall and leading to the same issues there were in MoF. And, you don't earn full lives, you need 5 life pieces to gain a full extra life, and the one and ONLY way to earn life pieces? Is through clearing boss attacks without bombing or getting hit. There is not even a SINGLE free live in the entire game, you must earn every single one with flawless performance.
This leads to a scenrio where, high skilled players are rewarded with lives they don't need, and less experienced players are basically walled from even practicing. All this, combined with two other factors (some of the weirdest/most difficult to utilize shot-types in the series, and the fact that the actual bombs either suck ass or are also difficult to utilize well), makes SA one of the most "unfriendly" games in all of Touhou project. If not THE most unfriendly.
I have a lot of criticisms of this, and even now I can't say I feel "comfortable" playing through SA. But, (most of) the unique shot-types CAN be rewarding, once you learn how to wield them, and this game has some of the most exciting and challenging bosses. So many fun spellcards……… Satori and Okuu are standouts. Satori's gimmick is also really cool, where her spellcards change based off your shot-type, nearly all of them being alternate version of past spellcards in the series. And of course, this game's cast is absolutely iconic, pairing well with one of the best overall soundtracks in the entire series.
SA is one of those games where I have a lot of fun with it and think it's stellar in terms of music, cast, and bullet patterns, but certain systems and mechanics prevent me from recommending it whole-heartedly to others. There's just a lot of frustrations with it. But it's still fairly high up in my rankings, and there's some value to having a game focused on Skill and skill alone, rather than other gimmicks or resources management or whatnot.
[TOUHOU 12: UNDEFINED FANTASTIC OBJECT]
UFO was the first Touhou game I got to see the release for. It's one of my happiest memories, so my feelings towards UFO may be very biased. Just a warning lol
UFO's "gimmick", the UFOs, is how you engage with basically any other system in the game; you MUST engage with the UFOs if you're going for anything other than a NMNB clear. And ho boy is the UFO system contentious. Not without reason, either. Mid-Bosses and Bosses destroy summoned UFOs which is frustrating, it's super easy to make a mistake with gathering the small UFOs and ruin your combo, if there's small UFOs you don't want on screen they basically act as bouncing projectiles you need to dodge ON TOP of the actual bullets……. etc.
However, while I share a few of those frustrations (damn UFO destroying bosses…..), I find the UFO system to lead to a good combination of routing and room for improvisation. You can memorize when and where certain colored UFOs will drop and plan ahead for them, and if you miss what you need or make a mistake you can still think on the fly and re-route mid playthrough. It's also fun that you can specialize your routing and gameplay towards a specific goal, like stocking tons of bombs to skip difficult stage sections/spellcards, or optimzing for score, or stockpiling lives.
The overall difficulty of the stages and patterns is decently high in UFO (this game is often ranked 3rd hardest in the series), but it can be somewhat mitigated with good planning and resource management. And I personally find a lot of these stages and bosses a Blast to play! Helped again by, of course, having one of the best overall sountracks in the series…. imo at least. The UFO cast is also my personal favorite, AND they get some of ZUN's cutest sprites/artwork :)
The only other real criticism I have is that it shares it's Continue system with MoF and SA. Thank god this is the last game that forces you backwards for continuing ;;;;
While the UFO system has it's downsides, UFO is just a really fantastic entry into the series and a personal favorite of mine. We'll see how I feel once I start tackling the higher difficulties seriously though…… lol.
[TOUHOU 12.5: DOUBLE SPOILER]
Basically the sequel to Shoot the Bullet. There is very little difference, just a new set of characters and cards to face. I personally find this one a LOT harder than StB, and I don't enjoy it quite as much, but it's still a solid game I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed StB.
(EDIT TO ADD: Sometime after I wrote this part, I found an old blog entry from when I was 13, and apparently ZUN explicitly stated DS was meant to be much harder than StB. So, there ya go?)
[TOUHOU 13: TEN DESIRES]
The key phrase for this game overall, imo, is RESOURCE STRANGLEHOLD.
TD is far and beyond the most punishing game in the series, both in terms of resources and the Spirit Gauge/Trance mechanic. The requirement for the amount of pink spirits you need in order to earn an extra Life is brutal right from the start, at 8, and every time you earn a new life this requirement goes up. This doesn't reset when you die, or even when you CONTINUE. That would be brutal enough, but even with OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE, literally no mistakes and perfect utilization of Trance, you earn less lives in this game than in any other. Speaking of pulling of a perfect performance, good fucking luck, because the spirits you need to gather stay right where you killed the enemy, disappearing Quickly, so you have to either have your Trance meter full and ready, or you need to risk your precious few lives to dash up to the top of the screen, in the middle of an absolute clusterfuck of bullets, just for a FRACTION of an extra life.
And of course, there's the real kicker; getting hit causes your entire Trance meter to be used up, and it takes a quite a bit to refill it, especially because again, spirits Do Not Fall the way items do, you have to seriously risk your life for them.
Basically, TD is a very, VERY routing-heavy game, and if you make even ONE mistake it can cause your entire playthrough to unravel. It's super frustrating. There are only 2 saving graces here….. 1) you at least get to keep any extra bombs you had in stock after you die, and 2) TD has some of the easiest boss fights in Touhou. I actually find the spellcards super fun, so by sort of-kind of routing the stages and doing well against the bosses, I was able to find some joy in TD. But that is obviously in spite of the mechanics, not because of them ;;
I will say, though, that it's interesting to have a game designed to make you "boss graze", ie stay dangerously close to the boss and move around them to catch spirits. Interesting concept and it helps train you on a high-level skill.
TD was my least favorite Touhou game for a long, long time. I've softened on it a bit, fun bullet patterns are fun no matter what, but goddamn. This one's ROUGH. And sadly, the OST is pretty middling for me, though it DOES have a few standouts (Desire Drive, Youkai Shrine Back Road, Small Desire's Starry Night Sky)!!
[TOUHOU 14: DOUBLE DEALING CHARACTER]
Ah. DDC. My nemesis.
I actually don't mind this game's special mechanic; using the point of collection line to earn life and bomb pieces. I actually think it's fun and rewarding, though that could just be because I already go to the PoC line as much as possible anyways lol. No, my problem is not with the mechanic, or the life and bomb pieces. This game commits the most fatal of all sins in bullet hell; the bullet patterns are Not Fun.
So many of the patterns in the this game have 'gimmicky' movements, sometimes bordering on Random, and this is often used in combination with one of my greatest weaknesses, bullets coming at you from both above and below, at the same time. This makes them an absolute nightmare to read. There's also a ton of a bullets that are either oddly shaped with confusing hitboxes, or made huge which also makes their hitboxes confusing. And unfortunately, the stages and bosses that don't suffer from this generally have pretty bland forgettable patterns. I can't think of a single attack in DDC I would describe as "fun", and that's unheard of in the rest of the series.
Worse yet, the shot-types themselves……. half of them are 'gimmicky', kind of like SA shot-types were, but the SA shot-types had special extra mechanics that could be mastered and were rewarding to utilize, if uncomfortable to get used to. These shot-types are just plain Uncomfortable, or are underwhleming ;; MarisaB has a bomb that makes it possible to milk life and bomb pieces like crazy and basically cheese the whole game, but that's not fun either :( I wanna be able to PLAY the game and enjoy it…… but I can't.
And the final nail in the coffin…… DDC also happens to have my least favorite soundtrack and, imo, a very bland and unmemorable cast. I feel so sad saying that because I think there's some unique youkai here, but MOST OF their designs don't stick out/are pretty plain, and they feel very disconnected from Gensokyo at large. Maybe if I saw them in print materials I'd feel different, but as it stands…… :/
I want to say some nice things though, so here's what I've got. Wakasagihime has a great design (it's just…. y'know, she's a Stage 1 boss, so there's not much of her. Super sad considering I desperately wanted a mermaid Youkai). Raiko also has a cool design, AND she has the best theme in the game. Uhh…… the PoC line mechanic giving you an extra life piece instead of a bomb if you collect enough point items is a good feature that rewards smart planning and risk management. The Stage 2 boss has lasers you can avoid by staying completely still which is hilarious.
I…. think that's it. Let me say for the record, I'm open to changing my mind!! I softened on TD as I got better, found things I could enjoy in it despite my issues, so that could happen someday with DDC. It's just right now, nearly everything about DDC bounces me right off it, so it's the only Touhou I genuinely don't enjoy playing,, Hopefully someday that will change……
[TOUHOU 15: LEGACY OF LUNATIC KINGDOM]
LoLK is a bit of an odd ball, for sure. While you can play it like a regular Touhou game (using "Legacy" mode), the main mode of LoLK is "PointDevice", which plays very differently. It's focused on "perfection", and very precise movement and dodging, making you retry to same sections and attacks over and over again til you do them right.
You also earn Life pieces (Legacy) and Bomb pieces (PointDevice) via grazing, which requires you to risk your life getting super close to the bullets. All that, in combination with very dense and overwhleming bullet patterns, makes LoLK the hardest Touhou game by a long shot. Especially in Legacy mode, where you can't just retry over and over.
I honestly don't care for PointDevice much, especially because if there's a section/attack you CANNOT pass no matter how hard you try, and you've already used all your bombs, you're kind of fucked and Have to restart the entire thing ;; But, I still find Legacy mode fun, and as someone who loves to graze when I can, being rewarded for it feels good, AND allows for some really creative and interesting patterns/routing. On the higher difficulties, there's way more bullets to milk for graze, too. On one hand it's a little frustrating that it's HARDER to earn resources on Easy and Normal, but on the other hand you can argue that the extra resources help balance the insane pattern difficulty of Hard and Lunatic.
I'm not good enough to beat LoLK on Normal yet (it's the last one left for me), but I still think it's a pretty solid game overall, and I like to replay certain stages (2, 3, 5, and 6) on Easy just for fun.
[TOUHOU 16: HIDDEN STAR IN FOUR SEASONS]
Wasn't a huge fan of this one at first, but I've warmed up to it! Mostly
While this is not the first game with bullet erasers, it is the first to feature them so prominently, aside from maybe PoFV. It comes in the form of the Release system, which basically allows you to massively power down your shot type in exchange for clearing bullets (how much you power down and how many bullets are erased/for how long depends on your sub weapon choice). I think the way it can be utilized both for survival and for scoring is pretty cool. It can also be really broken if you know exactly where to use them, adding another element to routing and memorization. But it can also be handy during my casual play…… if you remember it exists. lol. I admit that I struggle to use any C key function properly ;; But that's a personal issue
The shot types are definitely interesting in this game. Instead of the standard fare, you pick a character (who always has the same shot) and then pick a "sub weapon" based on one of the other character's shots (or you can pick your own to make it stronger). This results in there being a whopping SIXTEEN COMBINATIONS, each with slightly varying properties. Lord. While I think I prefer having a smaller pool of unique and optimized shot types, this is a neat concept, if a bit overwhelming if you're like me and want to clear EVERY combination ;; But still, it allows you to sort of customize to what you're most comfortable with, or what will help you the most (for example, the Cirno/Summer sub weapon gives you short releases you can use repeatedly, but the weapon itself sucks ass as a tradeoff. So pairing it with a faster/more powerful character balances things a bit!), which is pretty cool.
My major complaints about this game are the 2 difficulty spikes; the Stage 5 bosses, and Okina's final spellcard(s). The Stage 5 bosses use the dreaded "random and erratic" bullet behaviour I hated so much in DDC, though thankfully only for SOME attacks. They're still a big spike compared to the rest of the game, even compared to Okina's fight……. until the end. Okina's final cards are super cool in concept, stripping you of your sub weapon and forcing you to just Dodge Or Die…….. but in practice it is PAINFUL, especially since it's the last obstacle before victory. She even has a bomb shield………. wtf. Brutal. All 4 variants are bad, but the Summer version is by far the worst, in my opinion one of the hardest final spellcards in the entire series.
There's also the extra stage, which is mostly spent dodging stuff coming from behind you (my nightmare), but that's more of a skill issue on my part ;; Overall, while the cast is very disconnected and don't leave a strong impression, the music is pretty damn good, the stages are fun, and the mechanics are interesting, even if they're a bit shakey and abusable. Not a top favorite but I like HSiFS :)
[TOUHOU 17: WILY BEAST AND WEAKEST CREATURE]
This game has a similar special mechanic to UFO, but I think it's a little better implemented here.
There are no "shot types" as it were; your choices are whether to power up your unfocused attacks, your focused attacks, or your bombs. This kinda makes it hard to have a preference, as each attack is better at different points in the game, so it's really up to you what's more important. I kind of like this, even though I still prefer variety, it means I can use other characters more freely.
I also like this version of the 'collect stuff on screen' mechanic, there's more leeway for mistakes (you can still activate "Roaring/Hyper" mode without having a perfect collection of matching spirits) AND the benefits are better (it protects you from hits while active, just like the cherry borders in PCB!! and you get either a massive boost to damage or a bullet eraser)! Like with UFO though, there is risk with chasing the Spirits all over the field, and it can lead to some frustrating deaths and distractions. But that's just part of what you have to manage, I think it's a fun system overall :)
What is Not Fun is an issue that actually started back in TD, but I haven't mentioned it yet, because WBaWC has it the Absolute Worst; VISIBILITY ISSUES. Your own shot, ESPECIALLY in Roaring/Hyper mode, can become so dense and flashy that it is near impossible to read the bullet patterns. Or see the bullets At All. Which is, yknow, a problem in a bullet hell game. On top of that, the whole game is tinted red, and full of red bullets, which is sick as hell on paper, but in practice makes a huge portion of the game become slurry to the eyes. And the Enemy tracker, which had its text removed back in TD, is more a problem in this game than in any other because the color of the tracker matches the color of the window border, so you may as well not even have it.
There's also a major problem in the Stage 5 boss (and in one final boss spellcard), with the stupid statues that are summoned……. I already don't like these kinds of "familiars", they''re always a pain no matter what, but WBaWC takes it to another level, as they soak up so much damage that very few of the shot types can kill them before you get body slammed or completely overwhelmed.
WBaWC is really fun and cool and has some great music and designs, but it feels…… almost like ZUN didn't fully playtest it before release. An issue that is going to persist into the final entries………. but it's still enjoyable overall, at least.
[TOUHOU 18: UNCONNECTED MARKETEERS]
I have a lot of fondness for it, but MAN is this game unbalanced lol
There's the obvious, which is the card system. I think the card system is a cool idea and can be fun to play around with, it's exciting when you get exactly the card you wanted, but there are certain cards/combinations that can kind of break the game, and it can be BRUTAL if you get nothing but trash cards on your run, and there are a Lot of 'trash cards'. And once you figure out your favorite card combo it's likely you'll never mess with anything else. Not strictly a bad thing, just a thing.
But then there's the real kicker…… Marisa. People are 100% right when they say this game is "anti-Marisa". I've tried not to mention the shot types I dislike (like most Youmu and Sakuyas), because that's a very personal/skill based issue, but here, the way this game is designed feels actively Hostile towards Marisa. It's hard to describe, but both bosses and stages are set up to have you fly all over the screen, or move off the sides a lot, and her range is EXTREMELY narrow………. AND both the shots and her bombs have been massively nerfed??? She's no longer the most powerful character, so there isn't even a trade off for picking the harder option. Seriously why the hell did ZUN nerf her AND make almost the entire game hostile to straight-forward shots?????
Well, whatever the reason, it makes her PAINFUL to play as. But, if you play as one of the fun shot types……. this game is pretty fun!! The first half a Little plain with it's boss patterns but the second half is a blast!!! If MAYBE a bit unfair (Megumu…….) ;; And the OST is fantastic all the way through. Plus, I just love the characters that were introduced, especially the 'masterminds', Megumu, Tsukasa, and Chimata. Very fun additions to the world of Gensokyo, I really hope we get to learn more about Megumu as the Crow Tengu chief.
If you're looking consistent play, look elsewhere, but for a fun time with light luck based elements this is a great game (if you don't play Marisa. Or Sakuya. lol)
[TOUHOU 18.5: 100TH BLACK MARKET]
Now this is an unique one! You go through stages that are split into semi-randomized sections, and along the way you gather money to buy cards. Bullet money buys cards during a run, and regular money lets you buy cards out of a shop so you can equip them from the start. So it's like….. a rouge-like shooter? Kinda?
I personally had fun with this. It's a little simple, and it can get repetitive, but it was nice because if I didn't have much time but wanted to mess around with bullet hell, I could boot this up and play a couple rounds to gather money for cards!!
Once you buy all the cards and earn all the achievements there's no reason to ever come back, which is sad, but idk, I had a good time milking bullets for money and slowly filling my collections. It shares some of the randomness issues with UM and is a little half-baked but I would still recommend giving it a shot, especially because it gives Marisa her time to shine after getting shafted in UM!
[TOUHOU 19: UNFINISHED DREAM OF ALL LIVING GHOSTS]
The final one so far!! I'll be honest, I've beaten it 21 times now I STILL don't understand how most of the mechanics work. Things just Happen and I either dodge or die. But what I can speak on is the downright bizarre balancing issues and the plethora of missing features.
The difficulty and balancing is wack. The vast majority of the characters feel underpowered already, and to top that off, only a small number of characters have bullet-clearing abilities, which is an absolutely MASSIVE advantage in this game, meaning that some characters are just objectively better than others. The story routes each character takes can also vary wildly in difficulty, making some paths a breeze and others nearly impossible even for the best players in the world.
But the most concerning thing for me is the missing features. No score? No "clear" achievement or signifier for different difficulty levels?? NO REPLAYS????? I can deal with the lack of score since I'm not a score player (yet), but having no indication or reward for 1ccing, and having no way to save or share your run without recording every single play session………. god. Idk, maybe it's silly, but that stuff is VERY important to me :( I'm still so sad about it, and it makes anything you achieve in the game feel….. hallow.
That being said, it's not all bad!! I love the new characters and their designs, there's some really interesting experimentation going on in the OST, I think the 'shield' mechanic adds a fun layer to gameplay (trying to make sure you're ready to restore the shield if it breaks while also trying to send over attacks and dodge)…… and I mean, dodging bullets is dodging bullets, so it's gonna be fun at least some of the time!!
Honestly, I just wish ZUN has balanced it more carefully, gave other characters more power or bullet-erasers, had more people play test it………. and of course, I wish it had replays and a way to track 1cc's :(((
--
And that's it! If you read any of that, thank you, I know it was long ;;;;; But I had fun, I'm glad I got to talk a lot about my favorite game series :^)
#ask#varjojentuomio#remi plays touhou#idk if i wanna put this absolute behemoth in the actual touhou tag LOL#also if theres any weird grammar/spelling....... IM SORRY I TRIED MY BEST

Do you have some headcannons when it comes to Genji and Moira interactions with eachother?
When it comes to Genji and Moira I actually don't think they would have interacted much in Blackwatch, Genji not being as social as Cassidy along with not really liking her. Though like with Cassidy I do think they would share a lot of common interests, but because of the mental state he was in he never really talked about his interests, only really focused of the next mission.
I also think that Genji was low key scared of Moira in Blackwatch, we see that he's a lot more hostile towards her in game then Cassidy is, like his voice lines with her have the same tone as Mercy, only he's a bit more polite. Moira seems to be very invested in manipulating Genji in they're voicelines together. Though it never really seems to work.
One be thing that cause my attention in they're in-game interactions is that Moira brings up that Genji could have been able to have a full flesh body if Moira was the one to save him This implies to me that in the old Blackwatch days Moira would constantly bring up Genji's cybernetics.
Which probably did not help Genji's mental health.
Anyway, it's probably a good thing that in the short time they interacted Genji didn't get to close to her. I can not imagine what would have happened if Moira got her hands on him.
--------------------------
Also have some of these >:)
--------------------------
Moira: Out of all people to get therapy I didn't expect it to be you.
Genji: Well we're all full of surprises.
--------------------------
Moira: Please don't do anything reckless on this mission.
Genji: Didn't expect you to care about my well being.
Moira: I don't, but your an asset to this mission and I'd rather keep my possibilities of survival high.
--------------------------
Moira: I don't why your so opposed to my methods, afterall you could say what Dr. Ziegler did to you is similar to what I did with Reyes.
Genji: Angela is nothing like you, if you compare yourself to her again I will not hesitate to cut you down.
Moira: Is that a threat?
Genji: It's a promise.
Or;
Moira: Ah, there's the Shimada I remember.
