[2:26 am]
Yuken leaned against the doorway, with a fresh bloody lip and a bruised cheek. But he still had that stupid smile on his face.
"You're an idiot," You frowned.
"Yeah," Yuken pushed himself, and slipped off his sunglasses. Without missing a beat, he slipped his hand to the back of your neck and the other caressing the side of your face.
Upset as you were, you find that your need of him might be stronger. That him always, always, coming back to you meant he might think that you're worth everything.
He's done everything to show it and left only the option to voice it left. Yuken knew you weren't ready for that quite yet, so he waited, and would wait forever if you asked. All you had to, was ask.
"An idiot." You grimaced trying to push down all the warmth he created at every touch of your skin. But second by second, you felt yourself melt as he pressed himself against you.
"Yes," Yuken nodded, leaning towards you with all the time of the world. Nosing at your temple very lightly to your frustration.
When he kissed your neck softly, your knees almost buckled. Then after taking his sweet time, he pressed a chaste kiss on your lips.
You let out a shaky gasp, "Idiot." When did your hands slip over his sweater?
Yuken whispered, "Mhm."
This time he pressed his mouth against yours, hard. He almost chuckled at the way you folded so easily, kissing him with no less fire than he was. As much as he wanted to tease you, knowing you, you would run out of his grasp and kick him out.
So he would wait, until you were too desperate to make him leave. Until you both were.

Halo!! Can I request a yuken x sachios's bestfriend? Where yuken really likes the reader and tries to make her notice but the reader is oblivious, so yuken had enough and confessed to her! Thank youu!! I love your works so much! ♡♡
a/n: hi!!! thank you for requesting! this was spontaneous and i hope you like it! and also thank you so much for loving my works, that means a lot!❤️
———
[11:23am]
—t/w: kissing, harsh words
to have a complete, supportive, and rich family is a biggest blessing, you always thought. and that is not something you're blessed with.
luckily for you, god have sent sachio as your best friend as a redemption to it.
you met him in middle school as a classmate until one day you helped a little girl crying on the side of the road who turns out to be his sister, you two become a best friend.
you know from the deepest part of your heart, he's one of the people that you're going to keep forever. he's just too good to be true as a best friend—or even as a human in general. you won't forget that day when he offered you to live in his big big house because your work is nearer from his place than yours. so that you can walk everyday and save up more money to give to your parents.
little did you know, he also feel very grateful to have you as his people. you know who he is and never be judgmental about it even though you never understand a bit. he is the reserved type of person yet so many burden on his shoulder and you never hesitate to lend yours whenever he needed without adding more pressure to him.
both of you just so thankful to have each other and always keep things below the limit so the relationship is stable to say at least.
living in his house is such a grace because the amount of working maid here is enough to make you only minding your own business. and that time when his friends visiting is the only time you were out of your room because the maids won't complain when you're helping at this particular moment. at least, you have to serve the guests, right?
the more you socialize with them, the more they feel like a friend to you too. especially that one friend, who visit more frequent lately, yuken. like you know him enough to say that he is a good guy although his cocky attitude often inviting an eye roll from you. but seriously though, they usually come in a horde, but why this odajima yuken come by himself for two weeks in a row now?
“is there a problem?” you ask bluntly as you put a welcome drink on to the table.
yuken staring at you for a few seconds before taking the drink calmly. the eye contact lingers.
“yes.”
“really? but sachio haven't home since yesterday. is that something serious?”
“you sounds like his mom.” he chuckled.
“no, i'm not.”
“yes, you are.”
you frowned. his tone shouldn't be sounds so playful in such a precarious situation, right?
“you better call him, yuken.”
“i can take care myself.”
“huh? then go? why are you still here?”
“did you just throw me out? this isn't even your house tho?”
ouch.
he is always like this. annoying, cocky, even flirty, and overall a menace. you still trying to get used to it as his attractiveness keep making you forgetting it. you do admit he is damn attractive—like, annoyingly attractive.
you inhaled deeply before got up. “just call sachio. i'm sorry i can't be here with you now, need to take care a couple thing,”
he rests his back on the sofa. heart thumping like crazy contrary with his demeanor and smirk on his lips.
“the problem is here, sweetheart.”
oh, you wonder does he always did this to other people? this is not the first time you heard this from him but you aren't familiar with pet names so it is always make you feel something.
“what do you mean? am i the problem?”
“you are.”
huh?
“i heard you doing an amazing job at work,” he scoffs. “but why not this one?”
you came back to the sofa and sat closer to him this time. confusion and anger etched across your forehead. “what are you trying to say?”
“did you receive the daisies? the coffees? the bento? the—”
“wait what?”
yuken let out a soft giggle seeing your face processing everything these past few weeks.
“so those were for me?”
“who else?”
“and—FROM YOU?”
“who else?”
“oh.”
shame on you, girl. really. you thought it was for the company by using your name as the receiver. so you gave most of them to your co-worker.
“is it enough for me to call you stupid?” yuken grins while take your chin up to met his eye.
you really want to punch the shit out of him but that is just your cheap way to get away from this embarrassing situation and that's not nice at all.
you sighed and trying to back away but his fingers was faster to catch you up, no other option for you except to move closer, making his face is just inches away from yours.
“yuken—”
“shhh. i don't think you got the point, blossom.” his thumb caresses your cheek like it's the only thing they do. feels so familiar and comforting.
but shit. what is he talking about?
“huh?” you murmur while your eyes wandering his face like the answer is hidden there. the second your eyes laid on his forehead, you catch a small dried leaf hanging on his hair, causing your hand to reach for it in a blink.
“where were you—why is it so dirty?” you said absentmindedly.
yuken stared intently before laugh it off to hide the racing blood inside him. he put his head on your shoulder while still laughing and now your blood turn to race to your cheeks while feeling his warm breath fanning your neck.
your body freeze as realizing this is the closest distance you ever get with yuken—even a guy. you do lend each other shoulder with sachio sometimes. but not in this face-to-face position even after he grabbed your chin twice. this is too intimate and you can barely breath.
“w-why are you laughing?”
“are you always this oblivious? like are you trapped into a spell or something?”
“i'm not—”
“i think i know why,” he adjust his position and take your hand in his. “i only do this to you, stupid. do you think it's such a habit for me to send everyone those things at work? no, right? do you see me as someone like that?”
you shook your head.
“that's right. so what is the reason?” he waits to let you think, to stop denying the thoughts you have in mind since almost two months ago, to stop feeling afraid of affection you may receive, to stop arguing with the voice in your head.
your grip in his hand got tighter as you found honesty and sincerity in his eyes that don't usually sparkling.
you nod twice. “i just stopped denying.” you say innocently and yuken can't help but ruffled your hair.
“ah, how cute.” he chuckling.
“but is it true—i mean, why? how?”
he clears his throat shakily. “it is true. i just can't resist everything i feel for you these past few months. the more i see you whenever i'm here makes it harder everytime to go without stealing you with me. you're just… i don't know. i like everything in you.”
you watch his lips move effortlessly for every word he said. he was just being spontaneous and you can see that. it was still genuine though, you can feel it. it is the first time you see him on his nerves while shaking subtly.
“thank you.” you say.
his eyebrow rise in unison. “what do you mean by thank you?”
“for everything you feel about me and everything you gave? it's more—”
“and?” he cuts, impatient.
“you don't accept rejection, do you?” you laugh.
“you're right, i don't. it's the first time i feel this kind of feeling and emotion—i even let those bald jerks making fun of me when i come—”
you decided to shut his ramble with your own mouth. it was just a peck but then his hand placed on your nape to pull you closer. he tilt his head for a better access and his lips hugging yours just perfect. your hands squeezing his shoulder as the heat escalated in your body. a knot forming in your stomach when he refused to pull away.
“i-i can't breath.” you say when you finally manage to broke the kiss and both of your forehead still stick together.
he’s breathing heavily, eyes still glued on you. “does that mean we are…?”
“yes.” you say confidently. succeed to let your first guard down. “we're dating.” you cringed a bit.
a mischievous smile appear in his lips. “oh? i was about to ask you are we going to get married?”
“huh?”
“huh?”
“yuken, are you serious?”
“no.” he grins. you were ready to throw hands but he held it back first then closing the gap between you again. he even take off his glasses this time.
“you know why sachio not here since yesterday?”
“no.”
“because i told him not to.”
you gasp. “how dare you?”
“he even advised his sister to stay at her friend's house today.” oh, that cocky tone again. “guess i'm the boss now. thanks to you.”
“god, so they know?”
“everyone are already know about my feelings, silly. you were the only one who oblivious.”
“oh? i'm sorry. let me make it up.”
“how?”
“is this enough?” you kiss him again and pull away a few second later, deciding to let your mischief side arise since you were also wanting to do that for a long time now.
“no.” he kisses you, deeper this time.
“yuken, that's enough.” sachio's low voice echoed causing you to push away your-new-boyfriend and his back meet the end of the sofa roughly.
yuken squeaks loudly. “fuck you sachio. i just got abused in the first ten minutes of my relationship.”

˗ˏˋ realistic hi-lo the worst shitty dating canons࿐ྂ
notes: this is just for fun(fiction), plz don’t take is seriously. inspired by this post cuz me and my fellow delulu moots need to get it together, might do a pt 2 if I feel like it
warnings: some mention of nsfw, mentions of cheating, friends with benefits, mentions of choking, brief mention of kinks, toxic behaviour, periods, mentions of gaslighting and emotional manipulation, major delulu behaviour for the sachio one(I failed I’m sorry), I think I did Ryo and Kōhei dirty in this one but who cares
-ˏˋ fujio ˊˎ
He’s definitely a “where’s my hug at” kind of guy even after you both start dating
I’m just gonna say it right now, Tsukasa knows too much about your sex life
you got some weird kink?
called him “sir” by accident or like being choked or some shit like that?
Tsukasa knows (he doesn’t want to know but that’s beside the point)
He reminds me too much of my crush so this guy will definitely be flirting with everything and anything with a beating heart even if you’re dating him
Playboy fr
While you guys are in your lil talking stage he sends your picture to the gc for validation that he’s dating a pretty girl
They all want to warn you cuz you look nice but bro code comes first
Would definitely buy you menstrual products without batting an eye
His mom taught him better than to be grossed out
She’s a single mom which makes Fujio probably more respectful than the other guys around him
Does those cute couple tiktok trends with you
Talking to a bunch of girls while dating you
I don’t mean like cheating but he’s flirting too much with other ppl
Fujio doesn’t mean to flirt but he’s like super fucking friendly for no reason and is genuinely really nice so it comes off as flirting
Calls you baby, babe, princess anything really
Doesn’t look like he can keep his hands to himself
Spends time staring at you cuz you’re really pretty
Definitely the kind of guy that acts tough in front of his friends but is actually the little spoon
Unlike most the characters in this, he’s actually really sweet
But he enjoys his freedom
Is NOT the kind of guy that will let his friends make fun of you
He’s actually a pretty good listener
Will not help you with your homework cuz he didn't do it and wasn't paying attention
Has a very subtle couple picture of both of you as his lockscreen
Would 4.5/10 listen to his friends if they tell him to break up with you
-ˏˋ tsukasa ˊˎ
Cold, like super cold brrrrr kinda cold
Also a playboy like Fujio
I mean come on, look at him
Everyone loves pretty guys that look like girls with deep voices
Pretty privilege and he uses the fuck out of it
Definitely not a cheater but kinda toxic
Lies when he doesn’t really need to
Unironically calls you “pretty girl” when you’re mad
Does he actually like you?
You’ll never know
Honestly he seems like the kind of guy that’s only ever had like 1 girlfriend and all the rest are his hoes
He gets away with so much just cuz he’s good looking
I feel like he’d have your location but you don’t have his
Probably only started dating him cuz he’s pretty and he only dated you cuz he’s bored
He gives you skin care tips
Pretty guys are usually pretty freaky if you know what I mean
Doesn’t look like he can keep his hands to himself just like Fujio
He’s very mysterious and that’s what attracts people to him
Probably gets bored pretty quick tbh
You’re not gonna see him often because “bros before hoes”
But he values his private life so if he does genuinely like you he will only later tell his friends about it
Unlike Fujio, no one will no about your sex life
I think he’d be more on the possessive side tbh
So he won’t keep you as his lockscreen or ever post you (cuz why tf does anyone need to know who you are?)
If he actually wants the relationship to be serious, that’s when he’ll drop his hoes
Spends time staring at you like Fujio cuz he thinks your pretty
Will 1/10 breakup with you if his friends told him too
-ˏˋ todoroki ˊˎ
worst bf in existence (1/3) I’m (not) sorry
Probably hasn’t dated a lot but has a lot of hoes if you get what I mean
Tbh I’d be such a whore for Todoroki
He doesn’t think he’s all that good looking but girls seem to like him a lot and he takes advantage of it
Doesn’t really need his friends validation nor does he date because everyone else is and he doesn’t wanna be the one left out,, he doesn't give a fuck if he is
Mfer dates cuz he’s bored
if he actually likes you, no one will know who you are so forget the whole aspect of being shown off
you're basically his secret
You post him, he won't post you (lol tbh I wouldn't post my bf either,, maybe a pic of our hands but never his face)
Probably won't call you a pet name but maybe call you the nickname you're called at home if you have one or the same nickname your friends call you if they call you one
Definitely prioritizes fighting and the fucking Oya High leader ship more than you
You hate it but he's hot
does he actually like you?
You probably won't know
rarely actually pays attention to you
but when he does you have ALL his attention
tbh I see him dating someone low-maintenance where he doesn't have too put much effort in
not that toxic, just doesn't know how to fucking communicate
1/10 would breakup with you if his friends asked him too (doesn't need to validation)
-ˏˋ sachio ˊˎ
definitely an actual good boyfriend
I get major husband vibes from him (maybe cuz I'm super delulu for sachio but that's not the point)
not a red flag or toxic at all but somethings can be questionable
NOT the type to talk shit about his exes because he's mature enough to know problems can come from both sides
Yes I am picking favourites, my babes satchi can do nothing wrong
definitely gave you flowers the first valentines day you two were together for
honestly though,, like Todoroki, I doubt this guy would show you off too
Satchi seems to paranoid for his own good so don't expect to be going out in public with him
He's got a sister and I'm assuming(from popular headcanons) his dad passed away so his mom is alone,, therefore he had to be the man of the house
So he doesn't really give a fuck about periods
very knowledgeable about them tbh
seems like the kind of boyfriend that will gladly drive you and your friends around because he genuinely wants to be a part of your life and he thinks all of you are shitty ass drivers
friends with your friends because he wants to be apart of your life
Also takes what your friends say about you with a grain of salt because he knows all of you are ride of die type of ppl and they'd gladly lie for you to him
family oriented fr
went to ikea with you
you both are basically married
I'm so delulu for this guy omg
I don't see him as flirty
Doesn't pick up the signs when another girl is flirting with him and sometimes you think he's playing dumb on purpose
clingy mfer
you have each other's locations on
his contact name for you is just "♡" cuz no one needs to know your name
I'm not even kidding none of his friends will know who you are until maybe a long long time later
possessive but on the lowkey cuz he knows you value your freedom
Tbh I'm not even being delulu here, Sachio just genuinely seems like a really good guy
(not saying the rest aren't they're just very questionable)
long story short, I am his whore and I couldn't write anything actually realistic for him
0/10 would breakup with you if his friends asked him to
-ˏˋ yuken ˊˎ
I see him very similar to Fujio
Excpet Yuken knows he's being flirty
he flirts with other people on purpose cuz it's a bad habit now
also has major pretty privilege like Tsukasa
also uses the fuck out it
Jinkawa or maybe Shidaken or Sachio also know too much about your sex life
Like about that mole you got on your ass or some weird shit
they also unfortunately know about your kinks
It's like Fujio but in a different font
lets you do his hair and in return gets to do yours
doesn't know the definition of toxic masculinity so he will very gladly let you do his makeup
and sometimes his nails
Once again, not a cheater and actually not toxic
I already said he's like Fujio so this guy is gonna just be super flirty with everyone and everything with a beating heart
If compulsive flirting is a disorder then Yuken suffers from it
I wouldn't say he's a bad boyfriend but he flirts too much with other people and a lot of people consider that as cheating
Yuken seems like a pretty good listener
But he also likes talking a lot so be prepared to listen to his problems
lets you wear his glasses sometimes
When he's not busy he comes to your school to get you so you can go on dates
likes having all your attention
arcade dates are probably the most common
but he outshines out girls boyfriends ther by getting those girls stuffed animals and shit like that
I would say he's really a lot like Fujio
4/10 would breakup with you if his friends told him to
-ˏˋ kōhei ˊˎ
worst boyfriend in existence (2/3)
I doubt he even actually likes you
A complete asshole but you love that cuz you’re a lowkey masochist and red is your favourite colour
Randomly turns off his location and tells you “don’t worry about it” when you ask
Red flag (but in my culture we wear red at our weddings)
Doesn’t give you the time of day
is probably only dating you cuz you're hot and give him head or some shit
idk this guy is just really shitty
He's hot tho lol
gives me group leader kind of vibes
you never wanna date the leader of the group, they're always the shittest
his friends will never ever tell you the truth
I lowkey see him as a cheater tbh
and a gaslighter
"It was such a small thing and now look you've turned it into something huge when it doesn't even matter" type of guy
Just a fucking asshole
If you're with him I'm just gonna assume you're into pain or something
Or using him for his money (if yes then get that bag sis)
He also thinks you're with him for his money
If you actually aren't using him, it doesn't matter he just has major trust issues
good luck actually getting through to him
In the hypothetical situation where he actually likes you, prepared to be shown off
I see him as a very pda type of guy to show off how hot his girlfriend is to make others feel inferior
Probably won't give a fuck about what you're wearing if that is the case
he's also toxic asf idk if I mentioned that
Probably doesn't call you petname unless you're mad at him
7/10 would breakup with you if his friends told him to
-ˏˋ ryo ˊˎ
worst boyfriend in existence (3/3)
i did him and kōhei so dirty I'm not sorry
Loves Kōhei more than you
As hot as he is, let's be fucking honest with ourselves because part of the reason Kōhei thought he was so unbeatable was because of Ryo
Ryo let Kōhei get away with so much shit
and this hot ass mfer jsut seems like the type to listen to his friends and constantly need their validation
as hot as he is, plz don't date a guy like this
But unlike Kōhei, he's not a cheater
but he's pretty toxic
like he needs to know where you are all the damn time
crazy paranoid too
doesn't think you'll actually cheat but it's more his friends telling him you would
for him too be a good boyfriend he need to get new friends or like idk transfer schools
he definitely likes you, it's just he's so emotionally constipated that you can't tell if he actually does
only calls you petnames in private
I don't see him as the type to have hoes or flirt around
But that doesn't mean he'd be a good boyfriend
He lives for his friends validation
So if his friends make fun of you or talk shit, don't count on Ryo to defend you cuz he'll be laughing too
not a gaslighter but doesn't admit to the things he does and just tells you to leave it in the past
pisses you off but he's hot asf
tries to spend time with you but would leave your for his friends fr
102902/10 would breakup with you if Kōhei his friends asked him too

H&L SMAU: When You Tease Them
♡
re: when you tease them via text message (mild NSFWish - under the cut)
featuring: ranmaru, jesse, nakagoshi, and yuken
♡
Ranmaru
He takes to ignoring most people who text him (including you), but one sure fire way to get him to respond fast is by sending him some spicy pictures. He’s got each and every one of them saved to his camera roll. In fact, that’s all that’s in his camera roll.
Jesse
Catch him knocking at your door in five minutes tops. The idea of you in a piece that matches his signature jacket? Actually, scratch that, because you’ll be wearing your new set and his jacket. And he will be asking to take some pictures of you in your new outfit. Don’t worry, the pictures are for him and him only. He’d kill anyone else who caught even a glimpse.
Yuken
Trying to tease your boyfriend? Good luck with that. Yuken seemingly always finds a way to flip the script and have you be the one blushing at your phone screen. He’s good at it, and he knows it too. Keep it up, because it’s a game he loves to play.
Nakagoshi
He’s too sweet, and much too oblivious. It usually takes him a minute to catch up to your flirting (not that he doesn’t like it, man he really loves it). Give him a second to realize what exactly you’re saying; he might get a tad shy, but he’ll show you he can give the teasing back just as easily.

Worth the Risk (Yuken)
Genre: Fluff, slice of life
Word Count: 4,484
Pairing: Reader x Yuken
World: High&Low
Request:
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━
The bedroom was dark, the house silent as the rest of your family slept. A tiny sliver of moonlight was shining through the curtains, falling across the round clock that sat on the wall opposite the window.
You glanced at it and scowled in frustration, forcing your eyes closed once more. Only three minutes have passed since the last time you checked, though it felt as if an hour had passed. It was only three in the morning and you should be sleeping, but excitement was swatting at the sandman every time he tried to get close.
Rolling onto your side, you grabbed your phone off the bedside table and tapped the power button. A smile immediately came to your face when your eyes fell on the wallpaper.
It was a picture of you and Yuken from a few months ago, both of you smiling brightly. He had snuck his hand up behind your head at the last moment, using his fingers to make it look like you had tiny bunny ears.
The two of you lived nearly ten hours away from each other so you rarely got to see him outside of video calls. While the two of you spoke daily, it did feel hard sometimes. You missed the gentle way he held you and the subtle scent of his cologne filling your nose. You missed running your fingers through his silky hair and the feel of his plush lips against your own.
You gently rubbed your thumb over the screen, glancing at the time again. Another three minutes had passed, but you were feeling less annoyed after having seen his face. You never understood it, but he had this strange effect on you. Whenever you were sad or angry, he could flip your mood around with a single look or a few words whispered into your ear.
Seeing his face was enough because you knew that, in just a few hour’s time, you would be on the road toward Toaru city. It was going to be a long, torturous trip, but it would be worth it in the end.
More importantly, you had decided not to tell him you were coming because you wanted to surprise him. You couldn’t wait to see his shocked expression when you appeared on his doorstep. Taking one last look at the photo, you returned the phone to the table before burying yourself under the covers.
After forcing yourself to lie still for ten minutes, you were finally able to drift off, dreaming of the man you loved so dearly.
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━━
You stared out the train window with narrowed eyes, arms folded over your chest. Your finger was tapping roughly against your arm, leg bouncing up and down quickly to show off your annoyance. The scenery outside was still as the train sat, unmoving, on the tracks.
“Calm down,” chuckled your father, his eyes dancing with amusement as he peered at you over his newspaper.
“Why aren’t we moving? We’ve been sitting still for nearly twenty minutes!”
He quirked a brow before glancing at his watch. “It’s only been ten, dear.”
“Same thing!” You threw your hands up in frustration. “What do you think is going on?”
He hummed. “Perhaps a portal opened up and they’re trying to decide if it’ll take us to Hogwarts.”
“Dad, I’m serious!” You sent him an exasperated look and he chuckled.
“Calm down,” he set the newspaper onto the seat beside him before standing up. “I’ll see what I can find out.” He paused, sending you a grin. “Don’t get taken by a dementor!”
You rolled your eyes at his antics but a smile came to your lips despite the frustration you felt. You kept glancing between the window and the aisle as you waited for your father to return. About eight minutes later, he was sitting down across from you once more.
You looked at him expectantly but he just resumed reading his newspaper as if you weren’t waiting for him to speak. You narrowed your eyes at him, attempting to bore a hole into him. When you saw the corners of his lips twitch, you knew he was doing it just to annoy you.
“Dad!”
“Hm? Yes, sweety?” He looked at you innocently yet he couldn’t hold back his shit-eating grin or the amusement dancing in his eyes.
“I swear, I’m going to pour coffee into the toaster when we get home.”
The grin immediately fell into a frown. “Not toasty! He’s old, you know!”
You rolled your eyes, giving him an exasperated look. “Sometimes I wonder which of us is the actual parent…”
He snickered. “A flink of cows were crossing the tracks so they’re trying together them out of the way.”
You blinked at him dumbly. “A flink?”
He nodded and the two of you just stared at each other.
When you realized he had no intention of explaining himself, you asked, “What the hell is a flink?”
“How do you not know?” He sent you a disappointed look, shaking his head. “A group of twelve cows is called a flink. What are they teaching you at that school?”
You scoffed in disbelief. “Unless someone plans to become a farmer, no one needs to know that information, dad. You and your useless information, I swear…”
“Hey, one day my useless information will come in handy and you’ll be grateful!”
“When? When would that ever possibly come in handy?”
“Well…” he tapped his chin in thought for a moment. “Say we get kidnapped -“
“Oh my god.”
“Right? That would be shocking.”
You sent him a deadpan look which he promptly ignored.
“Say the kidnapper is a quiz enthusiast. Maybe he was inspired by the Saw franchise. He looks over at us and says, ‘If you can answer a random question, I’ll set you free. If you fail, I’ll cut off eight limbs with a rusty hacksaw.'”
He purposefully made his voice deep and gravelly when he said this, clearly trying to imitate the ‘killer.’ This caught the attention of the woman sitting in the opposite aisle and she sent him a strange, horrified look. You returned it with an apologetic smile.
“Oi, dad, I don’t think -“
“If he asks about a group of twelve cows, I’ve just saved both of our lives.”
“He would never ask that!”
“You’re right, we live in the city so he’d be more likely to ask where the word ‘squirrel’ originated from.”
“Dad -“
“It originated from the Greek words ‘skia’ and ‘oura’ which translates to Shadow Tail!” He grinned, sending you a look as if waiting for you to praise him for his knowledge.
Instead, you just exhaled sharply, pinching the bridge of your nose. You could feel a headache coming on and there were still five hours to go before arriving in Toaru city. You loved your dad, but sometimes he was just too much of a headache.
After five more unwanted facts about squirrels, the train slowly started to lurch forward, the tracks squealing as it picked up speed.
“Finally,” you muttered, turning your gaze toward the window as the scenery started to pass by in a blur.
With a satisfied nod, he picked up his newspaper and continued where he had left off, finally giving you some peace and quiet.
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━━
You frowned, pulling the phone away from your ear. It was the fifth time you’ve called Yuken since arriving in the city and, each time, it went straight to voice mail. He wasn’t answering any of his text messages, either.
You had stopped by his home, as well, but his sister claimed that he hadn’t returned home from school yet. It was only five in the afternoon so this wasn’t too unusual, she claimed. He oftentimes didn’t return home until well after the sun had set.
What was unusual, though, was the fact that he was completely ghosting you. Unless he was sleeping, he always made time to answer your call or, at the very least, text you to let you know he was busy at the moment and couldn’t talk. You couldn’t remember a single time he had ignored you like this.
When the two of you first started dating, Yuken made you promise never to visit Housen without him. He claimed it was unsafe and he didn’t know what he would do if anything happened to you. Honestly, that was fine with you, but now? Now, you were considering breaking that promise.
Maybe you were just overreacting because the situation was unusual, but something felt off to you. There was a feeling that had settled in your gut upon first stepping off the train and it hadn’t gone away. You couldn’t put a name to it, though you knew it wasn’t anything positive.
The trip to Housen was uneventful, but you realized quickly why he didn’t want you to go there alone. The students were all large, beefy males with bald heads. They stared at you through narrowed eyes, watching every move you made as you slowly headed into the school. Honestly, you had to wonder if you were at the right place.
Surely Yuken would be bald, as well, if he attended this school, but you had run your fingers through his silky locks on more than one occasion and you knew it was real.
“Can I help you?”
Your head snapped to the side at the voice, seeing a tall, brown-haired male standing in the middle of the hallway. His hands were stuffed into the pockets of his grey uniform. A thick bandage was taped to his left cheek, eye bruised, a cut on his chin and his lip split.
“Oh, um…” you shifted your weight, rubbing the back of your neck. “I’m looking for Odajima Yuken.”
Monji’s eyes narrowed at you suspiciously as he sized you up. You didn’t seem like a spy from another school and you had a different aura than the people he usually faced. He was confident in his ability to tell who was a threat and who wasn’t and he was sure that you were no threat. Even so, he wouldn’t let his guard down, as is expected of Housen’s future leader.
“Why are you looking for him?”
“He’s my boyfriend.”
Monji was caught off guard, eyes widening. Had he heard you correctly or was his concussion messing with his hearing? “E-Eh? What did you just say?”
“Yuken is my boyfriend,” you repeated with a frown, taking a worried step closer to him. “I’ve been calling him all day but he isn’t answering and I’m really worried!”
He could see the genuine concern within your eyes but he was still hooked on the claim that Yuken was your boyfriend. The taller male hadn’t mentioned anything about you nor had he dropped any hints that he was dating someone. “Can you prove it?”
“Huh?” You blinked dumbly.
“Prove that you’re dating him.”
You didn’t feel as if you needed to prove anything to this man, honestly, but your worry for Yuken was stronger and you would do anything if it meant you got to see him and know that he was okay. Tugging your phone from your pocket, you unlocked it before holding it out.
Monji took a step closer, eyes narrowed at the screen. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting and he was left completely surprised to see a picture of yourself and Yuken, embracing each other and smiling.
“Here’s your proof, now please go get him!”
“He’s not here,” frowned Monji, folding his arms over his chest. “But I’ll take you to him.”
“Where is he?”
“The hospital.”
Your eyes widened in shock, heart skipping a beat. “What? Is he okay?!”
“He will be,” he nodded, brushing past you and toward the door. “Odajima-senpai is one of our strongest members.”
With a confused frown, you started after him. Perhaps following someone you didn’t know was a bad idea yet you did so without hesitation, more concerned about your boyfriend than your own safety.
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━━
Yuken sat up in bed, eating a cup of jello as he watched the tiny TV mounted against the wall. His leg was in a cast, propped up atop a stack of pillows. A white bandage was wrapped around his right arm and shoulder, a purple bruise resting against his cheek.
“It’s mine,” scowled Jinkawa as he tried to grab the chocolate pudding. “I called it first!”
Shidaken scowled, his own hand attempting to grab the pudding cup. “What, are you five? You can’t just claim something like that!”
“I just did!”
Sawamura sighed deeply. “If you’re going to argue, do it quietly. If the nurse scolds us again, she’s going to make us leave!”
Sabakan snickered from the bathroom as he looked into the mirror, fixing up his hair. “You’re yelling, too, Sawamura-kun.”
The bald male scowled at the comment, realizing Sabakan was right. What was he supposed to do, though? Those two didn’t respond to anything else. Half the time, they didn’t even respond to the yelling.
“First come, first serve,” snapped Jinkawa. “Eat the vanilla.”
“No way! The vanilla is sugar-free and tastes like ass!”
“Oh, how do you know what ass tastes like?” Sabakan quirked a brow as he stepped out of the bathroom. A smirk slid onto his lips when Shidaken’s face turned red at the implication.
“S-Shut up!”
“Stop yelling,” hissed Sawamura, glancing at the door when he heard footsteps out in the hall. “Yuken-san, say something to them.”
Yuken quirked a brow as the four boys turned to stare at him, waiting for him to speak. Honestly, he didn’t care one way or another, he just wanted to enjoy his jello in peace. Their arguing was giving him a major headache, too.
With a sigh, he placed his jello cup down and reached for the pudding. They held it tightly, making him scowl as he had to force it from their grip. Pulling the lid off, he grabbed a spoon and began to dip it out onto the empty plate sitting on the table. He created two piles on either side of the plate until the cup was empty.
“Happy now?”
The two males blinked at the plate for a moment before scowling and voicing their complaints. It was hard to understand what they were saying as they spoke over each other but they clearly weren’t happy. One thing he managed to understand was that, apparently, the piles were not even.
With a groan, his head fell back against the pillow, hand covering his eyes as the two started to argue over which pile they deserved.
━━━━━━༻☔༺━━━━━━
As Monji approached Yuken’s room, he hesitated. He could hear the commotion inside and knew that the others had stayed with Yuken since the accident. They were a lot closer to him than Monji was so he worried about how they would take this news.
He had no doubt in his mind that Yuken kept you a secret to keep you safe and he had to wonder if he was doing the right thing by bringing you here. Perhaps he should have called ahead first to ensure that the other boys weren’t around.
You reached for the door but he held his hand up to stop you, earning a confused look.
“There’s something you need to know first…”
Your brow furrowed and you glanced nervously at the door. “How… how bad is he?”
“It’s not that, it’s just -“
There was a loud noise from inside the room, followed by the yelling of two males. With a racing heart, you pushed Monji out of the way and rushed into the room. The sound of the door slamming open caught the attention of the males inside, save for Jinkawa and Shidaken who were on the floor, wrestling.
Yuken felt the breath leave his lungs when he saw you and he tried to push himself up, wincing as pain shot through his leg. You rushed over to his side with a frown, quickly scanning his wounds.
“Don’t move,” you scolded softly, hand on his chest to stop him from getting up.
He breathed out your name, hand resting over your own. “What are you doing here? Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
“I wanted to surprise you,” you frowned. “You weren’t answering your phone and I got worried…”
“Ah, my phone…” He winced at the thought of his poor phone being drowned in the river. Sabakan had managed to find it, but despite days of sitting in rice, he had lost hope that his phone would dry out enough to be usable again. “I’m sorry for worrying you.”
You smiled softly, brushing his hair behind his ear. “I’m just glad you’re okay.” Your eyes flickered to his leg and your smile dropped a bit. “Well, mostly. What in the world happened?”
“It’s nothing, don’t worry,” he pouted. “I’m fine.”
You scoffed. “A broken leg isn’t nothing. And look at your beautiful face…” You gently brushed your thumb over the bruise.
Sawamura blinked dumbly at you, his gaze flickering to Monji and back. “Uh… who are you?”
Yuken cursed mentally when he realized that the two of you weren’t alone. Before he could speak, though, you straightened your back and introduced yourself to the bald male.
“It’s nice to meet you,” you bowed politely.
Sawamura bowed back, brow furrowed in confusion. “How do you know, Yuken-san?”
Yuken tried to call out your name to stop you but you were quicker, responding without hesitation.
“He’s my boyfriend!”
The room went dead silent. Even Jinkawa and Shidaken finally stopped fighting, staring at you in disbelief. Yuken held back a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose because he knew what was coming.
In the blink of an eye, Jinkawa, Shikaden and Sabakan surrounded the two of you, screaming out questions that overlapped one another, making it impossible to distinguish what was being said.
You backed up against the bedside table, holding your hands up in surrender as you smiled nervously at the large men surrounding you.
“Oi!” yelled Yuken with a scowl, grabbing Shikaden’s arm since he was the closest. “Knock it off!”
He scowled back in response. “How could you not tell us?!”
Jinkawa nodded, arms folded over his chest. “Seriously, Odajima! Not only are you dating someone, but you’re dating someone this cute and you didn’t tell us? I’m offended!”
Sabakan leaned toward you curiously, hand on his chin. “I’m curious how the two of you met. I mean, you’re clearly out of his league.”
“Hey!” Yuken’s scowl deepened at the insult. “This is why I didn’t tell you idiots.”
“How long have you been dating?” demanded Jinkawa, his dark eyes falling on you.
“Oh, um…” you glanced at your boyfriend and he sent you an apologetic look. “About a year -“
“A year?!” The three chorused loudly.
“Guys!” hissed Sawamura but it was too late.
The door was slammed open, a middle-aged woman appearing in the doorway with fire in her eyes. “That’s it! I’ve told you brats to keep it down five times and I’ve had enough! All of you, out!”
“But -” Jinkawa tried to protest but even he winced when her glare fell on him. He quickly bowed his head, muttering an apology before quickly leaving the room with the others following suit.
Her eyes fell on you and you winced under the weight of her glare. “You, too!”
Yuken’s arm wrapped around your waist, tugging you down onto the bed beside him. His chin rested on your shoulder as he sent the nurse a pout. “If you kick everyone out, I’ll get lonely.”
She pursed her lips in thought, hands on her hips. After a tense moment of silence, she finally gave in to his request. “Fine, but if you create a ruckus like those boys, you’re out. Understand?”
You nodded quickly and when she finally left the room, you released the breath you hadn’t realized you were holding.
Yuken chuckled softly. “She’s terrifying, right? I’ve never seen anyone put those guys into their place like that. It’s pretty amusing.”
You hummed, shifting on the bed so you could see him better. “As long as she’s taking care of you properly.”
“She’s a great nurse, don’t worry.” He leaned toward you, forehead resting against your own. “I’m sorry for worrying you, love. I should have called.”
“Don’t apologize. You getting rest and healing is more important.” You scanned his face with a frown, brushing the hair from his face. “Will you tell me what happened?”
He really didn’t want to because, truth be told, he felt embarrassed. Yuken was a strong man, a fighter who rarely lost to anyone. He took pride in his strength and his long-standing win streak and yet… the great Odajima Yuken had been bested.
By a fish.
The thought made him scowl, hand running through his hair in frustration.
“Yuken,” you stressed with a sigh. “If you’re trying to protect me, you’re a bit late.”
“Huh?” His head snapped toward you, eyes wide. “What do you mean? Were you hurt?”
“No,” you shook your head, chuckling at his reaction. His concern did bring about a warm feeling within your chest, though. “I’ve known since the day we met that you’re a delinquent.”
“How?” His brow furrowed as confusion and frustration collided within him. He had gone out of his way to ensure that you never found out about the lifestyle he had chosen only for you to tell him it had been all for naught.
“Your sister told me,” you admitted, offering him a sheepish smile. “That first week when we started to hang out with each other, she saw us on one of our dates. Before I left town, she tracked me down and told me that I needed to be careful.”
Yuken groaned, letting himself fall back against the pillow. “Damn it, nee-chan…”
You chuckled softly, hand resting on his stomach. “She was looking out for both of us. She didn’t want us to get close only for me to find out the truth the hard way and then break your heart.”
For a moment, he considered your words, his eyes finding yours. “You stayed…”
“I did. I knew the risks but… I believed the reward was worth the risk.”
“And was it?” he asked softly, his hand finding yours.
You couldn’t stop the smile that came to your lips as you leaned closer. “Yeah… it was definitely worth it.”
He grinned, propping himself up on his elbows so he could close the distance, claiming your lips. You didn’t hesitate to return it, head tilted to the side to deepen the kiss.
“Awwwwww!”
The two of you broke apart, heads snapping toward the door. Jinkawa and Shikaden were peering around the door with grins on their faces. Even the nurse was standing beside them with a warm smile on her face. When she realized she had been caught, her cheeks darkened and she cleared her throat.
“I told you boys to leave!” Her voice lacked the bite it had possessed earlier. She shooed them away, ignoring their protests.
Yuken sent you an apologetic look. “Sorry about them. They can be… a bit much.”
You chuckled. “So it seems, but they also seem nice. I’m looking forward to getting to know them.”
His eyes lit up with surprise. “You want to?”
“Your friends are my friends.” You paused for a moment before adding, “If you’re okay with that, I mean.”
“Absolutely,” he breathed, arms slipping around your waist so he could pull you against his body. “I love you so much.”
“I love you, too~ Now tell me what happened.”
He groaned, hugging you tighter. “Can’t you just forget about it?”
“Your leg is broken,” you scoffed. “Doesn’t exactly heal overnight, you know.”
“Fine, I’ll tell you,” he sighed, sending you a serious look when you sat up. “But you can’t laugh.”
“Scout’s honor,” you replied seriously, holding one hand up while placing the other over your heart.
He was quiet for a moment before sighing. “I was fishing with a friend of mine. It was a slow day and we barely got any bites. Then, out of nowhere, there was a heavy tug on my rod. It nearly flew into the river but I managed to catch it in time. This fish was huge, baby, and he was putting up quite the fight.”
You nodded as you listened to the story, taking note of how his eyes lit up as he recalled the memory. His hands were re-enacting it, as well, as if he could feel the rod in his hands once more.
“Todoroki-chan told me to cut the line when I was nearly pulled into the water, but I refused. I dug in my heels, determined to catch him!” He scowled at the window, eyes narrowed. “He was determined not to be caught, though, and, well…”
“Well?” You quirked a brow, waiting patiently.
A small dusting of pink came to his cheeks as he folded his arms over his chest. “I was pulled into the river…”
“You broke your leg from just falling in the river?”
“…”
“Yuken…”
“I didn’t let the rod go and the bastard dragged me through the water until I hit the large buoy… I tried to brace myself with my feet…”
“Ouch,” you winced at the thought, a frown on your lips. “Why didn’t you let go of the rod?”
“It was my favorite one… a Rodeo Ride Reviver 70XH Battle Cry with a limited edition dragon design printed on it! I barely slept for two weeks because I was trying to win it through a radio show and I finally got it! Take that, Yamisaka, you bastard.“
You stared at him for a moment, blinking slowly. When the words finally sank in, you couldn’t help but chuckle, bringing your hand to your mouth.
He frowned at you, arms folded over his chest. “You said you wouldn’t laugh… scout’s honor, remember?”
“I was never a scout,” you grinned.
He gasped dramatically, hand over his heart. “The betrayal…”
“I wasn’t laughing at you. I just didn’t realize you were so into fishing,” you explained with a smile. “You’re so cute when you’re talking about it.”
Yuken quirked a brow. “Am I not cute when I’m not talking about it?”
“Hmm…” You pretended to think about it, tapping your chin.
“Oi,” he scowled, nudging you with his uninjured leg. “That’s not something you should have to think about, ya know.”
“You’re always cute. You’re just cuter when you’re talking about your passions.”
A smile came to his lips, warmth filling him. He held his arms out and you didn’t hesitate to move closer, resting against his chest as his arms encircled you. Yuken wasn’t sure what he had done to deserve you but he was determined to never let you go.

Dearest
Prompts: DAY 21 - unresponsive @febuwhump Characters: Sachio x reader Fandom: High and Low Summary: Y/n’/ last letter
A/n for prompts: Hello guys! This is my first time trying a prompt challenge. I hope you like the short fics I wrote. I will finish them by writing some of the requests I have. I love you 💜
Sorry for the grammer or spelling mistakes.English is not my main language so...
Thank you and love you 🥰
Warnings: mention of character’s death
Sachio finally gathered the courage to open the envelope in his hand. While he was watching the city from where the old temple was located, he clutched the letter written "To Sachio" in his hand.
He was afraid. It was very difficult for him to open and read this letter after she’s gone. But he knew, he had to do it.
He sat on the steps and carefully opened the envelope in his hand. His heart was already racing when he saw his girlfriend's handwriting.
“Dear Sachio,
I know you will be very angry with me when you read this letter. Maybe you will hate me. But I couldn't tell you the truth. You were smiling so beautifully next to me, I didn't want you to feel sorry for me.
I have been struggling with this illness for a long time. My body was unresponsive to treatment and I was getting closer to death every day. How can you say this to someone you love? I didn't know. I still don't know. That's why I couldn’t say it.
I am sorry. I'm really sorry. I loved you so much that I couldn't bear you being sad because of me.
I was happy every moment I spent with you. You always made me feel like I was the only girl in the world. I felt loved every moment I was with you. And I loved you very much every moment.
Thank you for always making me happy and making me feel loved in our short time. The warmth of your hands and your beautiful smile is something I will never forget. I hope we meet again in my next life and I hope I will remember the warmth of your hands.
Don't be mad at me, okay? I didn't want you to suffer with me. Maybe it was selfish, but I love you too much to hurt you.
Do not be angry with yourself too, okay ? It's not your fault. I guess I was good at lying. I apologize again for these.
Please don't be too upset. I can't say forget me, but at least continue to have someone in your life, okay? You deserve to be loved. And being loved by you is the most beautiful experience anyone can have.
Take care of yourself Sachio, I have always loved you and I will always love you.
-Y/n.”
The young boy wiped his watery eyes and folded the letter in his hand again. He looked at the sky and tried to smile. It hurt, but he felt at peace.
Y/n wouldn't suffer anymore and she would always be with him.

(Your) Nuisance
𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈(𝐬): Yuken Odajima x Reader (ʏᴏᴜ/ʏᴏᴜʀ; ꜱʜᴇ/ʜᴇʀ) 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒆: drabble; fluff 𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒔: female reader; blurbs reused from this piece of work I made
“Speak your peace, Odajima-san. You can’t stay here forever” You said, not tearing your eyes off your book.
Yuken had his arms crossed, leaning against the clinic’s door frame with a relaxed smirk on his face. He chortled, strutting towards you. “C’mon [Name]-chan! What excuse should I have to visit my favorite medic of Housen?”
His breath tickled your neck, catching his bleach-blonde hair in the corner of your eye. “Correction: Your only medic of Housen.” You forcefully pushed his nose back into his nasal bone, his tuts of pain falling onto deaf ears when you walked towards the windows.
You had a strict rule as Housen’s most esteemed medic: unless you were Sachio, only visit when injured or in an emergency. The clinic stood at the corners of the campus, away from all the rough housing and fights. It was your safe haven to protect you while you were still paying off a debt Sachio held above your head when needed.
But, his annoying and, the admittingly, handsome nuisance of an adviser didn’t heed your rule at all.
After his intervention, you resumed your productive reading session, flipping two pages before a chin rested above your shoulder, two slithering hands resting themselves on your belly.
You bit the inside of your lip, trying to ignore his presence and warmth. He hummed and ‘awed’ reading through the chapter. You highly doubt he was absorbing 80% of it. “Even in her free time, [Name]-chan is still prolific as always.”
You sighed, “You’re hiding from Jinkawa again, are you?”
“Yup” He admitted, snuggling closer.
Routine as always.
Even when you give off the demeanor, liking and falling for Yuken Odajima wasn’t a hard assignment. No matter how much you admit you enjoyed solitary, his personality brightens your mundane days, even more than the company of that favorite scene from a book.
In the serene silence, a loud, growling shout of Yuken’s name that vibrated through the halls.
“That’s my cue.” With one last squeeze, let go of your waist and scrammed outside. Your eyes lingered where he stood before.
And even more so hard to admit, knowing you were always on his mind gave you… assurance. Even amid conflict, he’ll always opt to call you and rant about Housen’s victory, while Sawamura in the background tells him to tone down his sugary words.
Yuken Odajima was that utterly entangled in your life, sneaking in while keeping your heart captive from anyone who dared.
Your eyebrows creased when Yuken returned, panting as he gently crashed his chapped lips into yours, his head angled slightly for his glasses not poke you. ‘What the…’ Your brain shuts down for that one second.
He pulled away, a cheeky yet giddy smile painting his face. He saluted you and started to run off, not missing a zooming Jinkawa from your doorway.
A nuisance indeed.

[12:21am]
You really didn't need this today. Anything you did left you utterly exhausted. But you heard a familiar voice out the window, and now knocking on your door.
"Go away."
"Nopeee," Yuken sang, "Not gonna do that."
Fatigue was getting to you and now made it hard to keep your eyes completely open. You mumbled something under your breath before getting the most annoying sensation in your nose. As you sneezed, you heard a muffled 'tsk'.
"Y'know I can kick the door down."
Through the door you could hear his smile, you weren't all that surprised seeing it when you opened the door. You leaned against the doorframe with an exhausted glare.
"You're an ass. I'm sick, okay? So can you just leave me alone." Your glare hardened at him looking uninterested. What the hell was he doing here in the first place, then?
Surprise took you when he walked past you. For a minute, you thought you were delirious because you swore you saw he had bags in his hands.
You found him in the kitchen, pulling out a prepared soup. From the logos on the bags, it was from a restaurant a few streets over.
Yuken looked at you, amused at watching you blink at him. Blanket around your shoulders, face warm with a fever.
"You look like you're gonna pass out. Go back to bed while I heat this up." Yuken slyly smiled and tugged your arm. Your weak body crashing into his. "Or do you need me to carry you?"
You pushed him, or tried to at least. You shuffled away, turning back to your room.
"Ass." Yuken heard you mumble.
When you heard the sound of his voice again, you pulled the covers over your head.
"Fine, we can do this your way then," Yuken pulled off the blankets. He gently pulled you up, making you rest against him.
You still had your eyes closed and you could feel his fingers brushing against your cheek.
"You have to eat," Yuken pouted.
You opened your eyes, looking at him in disbelief.
"Who told you I had a fever?" You sighed.
"Sabakan."
"That f-" You let out a confused sound when he put a spoon in your mouth. Too tired to fight back you glared and let him feed you.
"Thank you, Yuken, for saving me from hunger," He cried dramatically.
You don't know when, but at some point you found yourself laying your head on his chest. Too exhausted and too flustered to fight his teases.

[7:15am]
— t/w: none
sachio was awakened by a loud familiar voices and laughter. he's trying to open his eyes because he's sure enough that he just slept for no longer than 3 hours. the chaos downstairs is quite annoys him since he can't sleep in noisy circumstances.
he glances at the clock with his barely opened eyes. it is pasts 7. he hurriedly get up from his bed and head to the kitchen where the noises were heard.
he sees two people cooking as their back facing him. he knows one of them is yui but he doesn't sure about the other one. it's definitely not his mother. but it's clearly a familiar posture.
“babe?” he calls out doubtly.
you turn your head and smile to greet him. “good morning.”
his eyes almost fell to the ground when his guess turns out true. it's definitely you—his girlfriend.
“what are you doing here?” he asks with a wide smile yet still couldn't believe his eyes.
“she cooks for your breakfast.” yui replies.
“really?” he approaches you, still in his pajamas.
you nod twice. “go to the bathroom first, sachio. wash your face.” you say softly. but it invites yui to laugh when her brother immediately going to the bathroom.
“he must be so embarrassed now.” yui says still laughing. “i don't understand why he acts differently when he is with you. it's new to me to see this side of him.” she continue.
you can't hide your smile and look at yui. “what do you mean?”
“i always see him in his calm and mature demeanor, even when i was a kid. but the first time i saw him with you, he was so clumsy and often got distracted. it's so weird, you know, it's so new to me.” yui explains.
you smile as you stir the soup in the pot.
not too long after that, sachio comes back and can't hide his smile seeing the sight of you being so close with his sister. he withdraw his thoughts thinking that the noise was annoying a few minutes ago. this turns out warm his heart and he can't describe how happy he is now.
actually, he still couldn't process what is going on. you—his girlfriend, being in his house this early, in the kitchen to be precise, with his sister, and you both cooking together? you both are just dated for 3 months now and he introduced you to his family a week ago and now you're here without him knowing? how can he not be excited?
he clears his throat and try his best to look calm and not pull you to his embrace since his sister are there.
“can i help you with something?” he asks and standing beside you.
“no, thanks, we're good.” you answer. then he notices your hair is untied.
“or maybe not.” he moves to stand behind you to tie your hair into a messy bun with a hair tie that always on his wrist.
“ow, thank you.” you grinning. he smiles and pat your head twice.
“please aware that i'm still here and don't do anything in front of me or i'll call sawamura to come.” yui utters and not wanting to look at you and her brother.
“yui!” sachio respond quickly. he still not used to the fact that his sister is dating his best friend.
you and yui are laughing automatically seeing his reaction. his frown fades after seeing you two are so get along together. the fear that you can't be easily accepted into his family also dissipates in instant.
“okay, okay, relax.” you place the soup you made in a pretty bowl. “can you put this on the table, please?” you ask softly.
“as you asked, miss.” he nods and starts to arrange the plates and bowl that filled with his favorites breakfast menu along with the cutlery.
“c'mon, let's eat.” he says as he push back the chair next to him, inviting you to sit down. you take off your apron before sitting down.
yui sits across you two and showing her grumpy face. “he wasn't like this lately,” she looks at you. “he is not even want to breakfast with me!” she add.
you giggle because you clearly know why he is like that.
“itadakimasu.” sachio voiced before starts eating his soup.
“actually,” you begin. “he always take his breakfast… with me.” you confess.
yui glares at her brother then shrugs. “he's head over heels.” she sneers.
“eat your food, yui.”
you chuckle at the siblings. you realize you didn't make a wrong decision to date him. and just now everything feels right and you're finally sure of your feelings.

dating odajima yuken
he’s smart
and just a little bit cunning
not in a bad way, he just tries not to miss destiny chances
he may call you such a chance you know
your shit of a cousin owes a pretty big sum of money to one of the gangs
and you find intimidating promises written on walls of your house
and well you clearly don’t want to get into trouble because of that bastard (you have been paying off his debts for quite a long time and you’re fed up with that)
moreover, his little sister – your cousin too – is too precious and you don’t want her to be interfered in this shit even more
and so you go to housen
this area is under their control, right? you don’t know a lot about this gang thing to be honest
anyway
the academy is rather scary – you’re not a coward, just a sensible person
you find yourself standing in front of four guys
one of them smirks
you scowl
“what is the logic of giving this money to us instead of your brother?” – he asks
you want to say it’s not easy to explain
you’re just so tired of dealing with the problems your cousin’s been causing for last few years
and you want to protect your sister – you’re more her sister than he has ever been her brother
and you’re incredibly proud
but
“you can protect us and my cousin cannot” – is all you calmly say in the end
you’re too concerned right now about everything to notice how this smirking blonde guy changes his face
well you now have a deal with the housen academy
“i’ll give you money in three parts” – you promise
and you keep it
you always do actually
they deal with the gang the day after you ask them to – yuken calls your to say you don’t have to worry anymore
you’re both happy and lost
so you simply thank him and he suddenly sounds unexpectedly gentle
“i’ll bring you money tomorrow then”
“you don’t have to” – he says in a second – “this area is under our control, we have to care for it, you know”
this is the moment of your pride to blow up – you don’t want pity
and you’re are disgusted by the thought that someone can think you can’t keep your word
so you bring money for the first time
and say goodbye before he can even talk to you
you don’t see his face at this moment
again, he’s smart, but it doesn’t meant he isn’t confused when it comes to you
he respects clever and responsible people
and you’re surely that
but he’s honest with himself, so he admits respect isn’t the only thing
but he knows you won’t be happy to see him following and looking after you
so sabakan briefly informs him that you’re alright
and yuken patiently waits until you bring another part of the debt
this time you don’t escape – kenzo blocks your way and odajima finally says hello (of course he didn’t ask others to stop you from running the moment you see him)
he follows you until school enter – there he finally says that you don’t have to bring the last part – it’s necessary to pay for debts, but you have done more than enough
“we can’t care for everyone, but when it’s possible, we do try” – he quietly says – “i didn’t want to offend you, i just don’t want you to pay in vain”
you explain him that you don’t – you just hate being in debts and not keeping your words
it seems that both of you finally understand each other at that point – he’s even more confused about how stubborn and proud you are and you understand that he was honest during that phone call
the third time you bring the money yuken isn’t in the academy
you somehow feel a little bit upset about it
“you like him?...” – suggests your sister that evening and you gasps
but you’re not that proud to hide from yourself the fact you you’re clearly interested in him
damn it
you just laugh that you won’t see them anymore as the thing with the money is done
but yuken meets you on your way home from work next day
and asks if everything’s alright
and it starts pouring so you run into the closest market
you’re wet from head to toes
yuken truly holds himself back from kissing you right here right now
“you’re so wonderful” – he just murmurs
okay you’re BLUSHING
he picks you up from work for a month before you kiss him on cheek
it happens so natural
he BEAMS
like it’s truly strange to see so always calm yuken like that
the housen academy is finally able to breathe
“whenever he was talking, he was talking only about you” – kenzo complains
you’re dating and mister odajima makes you have heart attacks each day
he brings you your favourite incredibly sweet coffee
he likes it too to be honest
yuken kisses your knuckles after you finish brushing his hair
and palms
and cheeks
and lips finally – when you’re trying not to giggle but it’s impossible
he just adores you so much
you’re an equal opponent in conversations – it’s not arguing, it’s discussing for sure
and he can’t stop his heart from beating so fast whenever you two talk
he feels that he grows – you make him be a better person and so does he to you
you’re both pretty stubborn
but both of you also learn how to trust and rely and work together with each other
so you know he’s the biggest support for you
and you’re always here to help him if he needs it
when boys return to housen from fight with senomon and you’re waiting there for them, obviously worried, yuken feels that he is healed
and he nearly sticks his tongue out at others when you kiss him, breathless and dirty, in front of everyone
“i love you, babe” – he murmurs
you whisper the same thing
“i want a girlfriend too!” – cries kenzo

Chapter 5 :
The dawn had finally fallen as the festive vibe kicked in. The booth had officially been closed for business after the long day. While Makio was outside, Seira carefully washed her palette and set it aside to dry, then began packing the dryer paintbrushes and other supplies into her bag. It had been a long and eventful day for her. She had met three of the five leaders of SWORD, as well as her cousin Chi and then there was her encounter with Hyuga Norihisa - not the most pleasant interaction, but surprisingly, it didn't leave the worst first impression on Seira. While she found Hyuga to be a bit stubborn, she was taken aback by how quickly he backed off once she made it clear she wasn't going to sell her displayed paintings. This made Seira wonder, perhaps the stories she had heard about Hyuga from Makio, Shin and Kian didn't tell the actual reality. Her first encounter may not have been ideal, but it seemed there could be more to him than met the eye. Maybe there was more to him than the stubbornness and single-mindedness she had been expecting which couldn't help but make her curiosity rise. Deep in her thoughts, Seira was about to put away the palette she had left on the table when suddenly it slipped from her hand. Her hand remained motionless as she watched the palette fall to the floor. Immediately, a piercing ringing sound echoed in her head, causing her to wince in pain and clutch her throbbing temples. Seira tried to close her fingers, but her right hand refused to budge. The shrill, agonizing ringing made her feel dizzy and short of breath as if she might collapse any second. Steadying herself against the table, she reached into her bag with her other hand and managed to pull out her pills and painkillers. After taking them with some water, she leaned against the table, hoping at least the medication would give her some relief.
This was every other day thing for Seira. But now these debilitating headaches and freezing of her hands were becoming more and more frequent. She longed for the days when she could get through a day without needing to rely on the painkillers, but she knew deep down that those days were not coming back. As she was trying to navigate through the chaos of her body, she could hear faint voices of Shin and Kian, from outside, telling Makio they'd be back soon to help close the booth and gather the paintings. She felt utterly helpless, but she knew that there was nothing she could do but wait for the medications to work their way. Once the pain subsided, Seira tried to move her still-numb hand. It was moving but not freely. Finally, when she felt her breath a bit steady, she reached for her bag and zipped it closed, and that's when she locked eyes with her reflection in the mirror. Her eyes looked heavy, her lips cracked and chapped, her complexion pale. She felt utterly exhausted. " I really should eat something or else I might pass out any minute." Seira murmured to herself as she reapplied her red tint to hide her pale lips. Her appetite had dropped significantly compared to before and she knew this was just the start of a terrifying ordeal that lay ahead. Nevertheless, she needed to eat something even if it meant forcing herself. Despite being prepared for what was to come, Seira felt a sense of fear and uncertainty about how long she could hold out until she could fulfil the dream that brought her to S.W.O.R.D. in the first place.
"Today we truly made a huge income here Seira-chan!" Makio exclaimed cheerfully as she emerged through the curtain, interrupting Seira's thoughts as she handed Seira an envelope, her eyes sparkling excitedly. " Did we?" Seira asked sweetly as she looked at Makio, who eagerly nodded. Looking through the envelope, they had made quite a bit. "Of course we did!" Makio gushed. "So many people came to get their portraits done by you today. You've got magic in your hands, and they couldn't resist!" She plopped down in a chair, using a small electric fan to cool herself off. "And you must be completely worn out, right?" Makio said with a soft pout "But don't worry, Shin and Kian have gone to get your favourite udon for you." she spun in the chair like an excited child making Seira chuckle. Looking back on the day, Seira couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and gratitude. After carefully counting the money, Seira divided it, taking out Makio's share and handing it to her.
Makio looked at the money, utterly confused. "But Seira-chan, what is this for?" Seira chuckled, placing a bundle of cash in Makio's hand. "Makio-chan, this is for you." she said, gently closing Makio's fingers around the money. "You've worked so hard and deserve to be paid fairly." Seira then returned to her bag and pulled out a thick envelope. "And this," she said, walking towards Makio and handing it to her, "is my contribution for the month. Please, use it to help those in need, as you always do." Makio's eyes widened, and her lips quivered. "Seira-chan, don't you need this money? How will you manage your expenses?" To this Seira smiled warmly, patting Makio's cheek affectionately. "My dear, I have more than enough to last me a lifetime. Please use it well for the people who need it the most as you always do." It was true. Seira had earned too much from being the famous anonymous painter for the past six years. She was only eighteen when she started it. Her mentor who was a famous painter got her to display her first-ever gallery which piqued a lot of interest from rich people. They wanted to buy and get more custom-made paintings from her. She had asked her teacher that she had no intention of revealing herself or her details and that she would work taking the stage name Higanbana. And till today she had no plan to tell the world about herself.
Hearing Seira, Makio's eyes were filled with tears, as she got up and lunged forward, wrapping Seira in a tight embrace. "You truly are an angel, Seira-chan!" she cried, her voice thick with emotion. While Makio was embracing Seira she felt her heart drop. Seira was getting thinner by the day. Breaking the hug she held Seira's cheeks and looked at her face with concern. She could see the dark circles and the visible paleness. "You haven't been eating well, have you?" Makio asked sternly, as Seira's nervous expression gave her away. Makio sighed, remembering the effects of Seira's illness that Dr. Leora talked about when Seira had the first fainting scare in front of her. She had asked Dr. Leora about all the treatments, precautions, and effects that would arise in the future. All the effects of the illness were gut-wrenching, and appetite loss was one of them. "Have you been experiencing any other difficulties?" Makio asked, her voice laced with worry. Seira gave Makio a small, reassuring smile and squeezed her hand. "It's bearable, Makio-chan, and you know I'll tell you if it gets worse. I promised, didn't I?" But in her heart, Seira had made a different promise – to face this illness alone, without burdening Makio, Shin, Kian, Chiharu, her brother, or Deamin about it. She had made up her mind that she would go through this all by herself and that leaving this world without being a burden on them was her top priority.
"Where are those two idiots!? How long will it take them!" Makio said angrily as she quickly wiped the tears away, changing the subject because the whole mood was turning gloomy. Seira too shook the tears away as she looked at Makio with a smile thankful that the subject was changed. " Here we are!!" Shin's cheerful voice comes in holding two bowls of Seira's favourite udon as Kian comes from behind holding the other two bags of food and smiling. The two quickly set the bowls on the table as Kian went out to bring two more chairs and placed them near the table. Once settled down the four of them started to eat. Seria took a small bite of it. It tasted bland for her. Lately, she had been losing her taste buds which was making her disheartened because she truly loved them. She knew very well she had to force herself to eat them even if she might have multiple puking episodes later. Shin, Kian and Makio looked at Seira who was now swirling her chopsticks through the udon but not eating them absently. The three exchanged looks as Kian nodded. "Neh-san I heard you sold out well today! How did it feel to paint for crowd work after a long time? Will you continue doing this in future?" Kian asked with curiosity as the other two looked at Seira waiting for her answer. " It felt good Kian-chan. I haven't done crowd work since I came back from New York. I will paint but I won't sell them, not anymore. Today was the last time." Seira said with a smile that conveyed many emotions. "Eat up quickly the fireworks are about to begin." Shin said trying to change the subject as they all started slurping quickly while Seira tried force-feeding herself. "Ah, I almost forgot to tell you Seira-chan. Today I got a call from Yui who's overlooking the project of renovation of Kausmi House in Tourou City. She said the renovation has been completed and the new pieces of furniture have been set. The kids and the staff members who were staying in your family mansion will move in tomorrow morning. Also, Rao called up saying your phone was unreachable. He said that he wanted to talk to you." Makio chimed in slurping up the noodles quickly. " Give him my landline number. I accidentally dropped it from my balcony when I was talking to my brother this morning. It's destroyed." Seira said with a sheepish smile making Makio's jaw drops. " Seira-chan that phone had real diamonds embedded on its back! How did this happen!!!!" Makio yelped and choked on the food as Shin gave her water hurriedly and tapped on her back once she was done drinking water. " Hahaha yes, that's the one I broke. I am thinking of going to buy one from Shannon tomorrow evening." Seira said sheepishly as she ate her udon. " I'll accompany you Neh-san." Kian said giving her a cute smile his mouth full of food making Seira laugh at his cuteness as she patted his head nodding.
" Say Neh-san, you are not wearing the broach you always wear?" Shin asked after he was done drinking water. Seira's eyes went wide as she looked down at her kimono jacket - the brooch was gone! " I did wear it! Where could it go!" Seira quickly stood up and started searching for it frantically. That brooch meant so much to her. After all, her brother-in-law Deamin had given it to her as a birthday gift last year. "I am sure it must be here. We'll find it don't stress yourself Seira-chan." Makio said as they all joined the search. But Seira was panicking, and she could feel it physically - her breathing was laboured, and her hands were trembling as she rummaged through her bag. She had been forgetting things lately, but never this bad where she wouldn't remember at all. That brooch was something she never went without wearing since Deamin gave it to her. She would wear it every day without missing a heartbeat. Seeing how distressed she was, Shin reached out and gently guided Seira to sit down. Crouching in front of her, he looked her in the eyes"Neh-san, listen to me. We will definitely find that broach for you. I promise. So just take some deep breaths with me, okay? Breathe in...and out..." he said soothingly, placing his firm hands on her knees to reassure her as Seira tears didn't slow down. Kian and Makio who were looking for it outside came in to see Seira in cold sweats and heavily breathing, making the two extremely worried for her. " Neh-san it's not outside. But don't worry once the fireworks are over we will go to the Lost and Found booth. I am sure we will find there." Kian said crouching down holding Seira's other hand running soothing circles as Makio pulled the tissues out and gently patted Seira's tears away.
Seira's eyes were a little swollen and her nose was a tad red. She had calmed down, but she still felt heartbroken. The heartbreak was still weighing heavily on her. All four of them had gathered to see where the fireworks would go off. They all decided to stand under the tree far from the crowd since Seira had just gotten a bit steady after the panic attack. To cheer up Seria, Shin had bought her favourite cotton candy in the shape of a funny-looking duck. When Seria saw the cotton candy, she couldn't help but snort smiling while she was almost calmed down. As the countdown to the fireworks began, the crowd around them grew more and more excited. And soon, the night sky erupted in a dazzling display of colourful fireworks. Shin, Kian and Makio stood together at the back, awestruck by the beautiful scene above them. But Seira, standing between them, gazed up with a mixture of melancholy and wistfulness. The thought of saying goodbye to her loved ones was already weighing her heart now the worry of losing her precious broach had added up.
Underneath the sky that was painted with red fireworks now in different parts of the crowd were members of SWORD who were looking at the fireworks with their cherished ones. Seira pulled out her camera and captured the moment - young families, affectionate couples, groups of friends. The transience of nature and the fleeting beauty of a life filled with hope, unity, and resilience were visibly overflowing throughout the crowd. Seira felt a bittersweet sense of satisfaction with the life she had lived so far, which had melancholic feelings running through it. Turning to glance at Makio, Shin and Kian, Seira couldn't help but smile softly, her heart filled with affection for them as she clicked their candid pictures. Their goofy excitement at the fireworks display drew a laugh from Seira, which in turn caught their attention. Kian took Seira's camera as he clicked their group pictures and Seira's solo pictures. Despite Seira's best efforts to conceal her sadness, they could still feel it. But they knew just like how Seira was trying to keep it hidden from them they had to do the same and replace it with happy memories so that when the days of uncertainty that lay ahead of them arrived, they could lean on these memories.
The fireworks had faded into the night sky, leaving a bittersweet feeling in Seira's heart. Seira along with Makio, Shin and Kian had gone to the Lost&Found Booth but her cherished ruby broach wasn't there. The staff there had taken down her contact details and the photo of the brooch, promising to reach out if it was found. Makio had to leave early as she had to go to Kaumi's House tomorrow so she bid her farewell to the three and told Seira not to worry and that her broach will be found. Seira told Shin and Kian that she wanted to stay behind for some time and told them to go back home. The two after continuously making sure that Seira was okay with being left alone went back taking all her display paintings with them. Seira had a glum look on her face as she strolled around aimlessly. That's when a small girl bumped into her falling on her feet. "Oh my! Kiddo are you okay?" Seira asked as she helped the little girl up. The girl's knees were scraped, and her eyes welled with tears. "Neh-san! Help me!" she signed frantically, gripping Seira's kimono sleeve with desperation. Seira, who was fluent in sign language due to her mother's hearing disability, worriedly held the child's hands, bending down on one knee. With a gentle touch, she carefully brushed the sweat-dampened hair from the girl's forehead, her own heart aching at the sight of the child's distress.
Before the Seira could sign anything further, numerous footsteps were heard coming from behind them. Seira looked up to find around five men in black suits and white full-face masks holding metal pipes and baseball bats with nails engraved in their hands. Seira immediately stood up as the little girl hid behind Seira, eyes closed while her shaky hands held the kimono jacket tightly. "Give us the kid quickly!" one of the thugs roared pointing the sharp knife trying to imitate Seira who couldn't help but scoff as she turned around slowly, meeting the terrified eyes of the little girl hiding behind her. Bending a little at the little girl's level "Kiddo," she signed gently, bending a little to meet her in the eyes. "Stand by the tree and keep an eye on my bag for me. Can you do that for this Neh-san?" A sweet smile broke through the tension, and though the little girl couldn't help but tremble in fear, she nodded, her faith in Seira shining through her tears. "You're brave, sweetheart." Seira whispered, her heart aching while giving her a reassuring soft smile. Giving the little girl's shoulder a reassuring squeeze, she wiped the little girl's tears away as the little girl quickly went by the tree nearby where Seira's bag was kept. Seira's gaze shifted to the night sky which was dark and twinkling with millions of stars, as the chaos in front of her was brewing. She began stretching her arms and waist, centring herself as she felt the adrenaline rise within her. " You are messing with the wrong people, young lady! So, I suggest you back off and give us the kid!" the bulky man said swinging the nailed baseball bat once with a threatening tone. A sudden breeze tousled her loose strands of hair, and as she opened her eyes, a fierce smirk crept across her face. Her gaze was icy cold, and the bloodthirst was evident on her face making the thugs in front of her feel the goosebumps rise. She might have been outnumbered but things were about to go down that was for sure, and this was somehow waking up the thrill she had been missing for a long time. With a dramatic flair, she dropped into a fighting stance, ready to unleash everything she had even if she knew that this would take a huge toll on her health. She was ready to risk it.

Enamored With You – Yuken (PSF #24)
PSF Ficography | H&F Flash Ficography
Genre: Fluff, magic, slice of life
Prompt: “You’ve told your parents?” (@flufftober) / Truth: Do you believe in magic? (@slumberpartybingo Halloween Flash)
Word Count: 5,141
Pairing: Reader x Yuken
World: High&Low
───── ⋆⋅🍂⋅⋆ ─────
You shifted nervously from where you sat on the bullet train, brow furrowed at the glass. The world was passing by you in a blur of grey and brown with the occasional splash of orange.
Yuken’s parents lived about thirty minutes outside of the city and they wanted him to come home for Halloween. He had convinced you to tag along with him because he wanted you to meet his parents.
When you told him you had no right invading on his family gathering, he gave you a wolfish grin and had proudly proclaimed, “I’m going to marry you, one day. They need to meet you first!“
How could you say no to that? Especially when he was giving you that puppy dog look that you simply couldn’t resist.
You could feel your boyfriend watching you and you scowled.
“I’m fine.”
“I didn’t say anything,” Yuken chuckled from where he sat across from you.
“You were thinking it.”
“Oh?” He quirked a brow at you, propping up his chin with his hand. “You never told me that mind reading was one of your powers.”
You sent him a look and he chuckled again, shifting so he was sitting beside you. He put his arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer.
“Stop worrying. My parents are going to love you.” He pressed a kiss to the top of your head and you smiled, reaching up to thread your fingers through his own.
You weren’t so much worried that his parents would hate you as you were worried about them finding out your secret. See, you were a witch, descended from a long line of witches. As far as most humans were concerned, your kind didn’t exist outside of movies and you had been taught to keep it that way.
Humanity simply wasn’t ready to accept that a different race had been hiding amongst them for so long. To be honest, you never planned on telling Yuken, at least not for a long while. That went out the window when he got into a huge fight with guys twice his size and age.
He had been pretty badly injured but refused to go to the hospital. You were scared of losing him so you used your magic to stop the bleeding, thinking he was unconscious. He wasn’t and, well… you had a lot of explaining to do after that.
You were convinced that he was your soulmate so the last thing you wanted to do was scare his parents or make them hate you. It’s not like you didn’t have control over your powers, but there was always a slim chance of using them by accident when your emotions ran high.
You rested your head against his chest, calmed by the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. ‘This trip is going to be fine. Nothing is going to happen.’
───── ⋆⋅🍂⋅⋆ ─────
You followed Yuken up the steps of his parent’s house, gripping the strap of your bag tightly as he pushed the door open, announcing that he was home. A short woman with permed brown hair came rushing out of the kitchen, a bright smile on her face.
“Welcome home!” She cupped his face. “Oh, look at you! You’ve gotten even taller than the last time I saw you.”
“Maybe you’ve just gotten shorter, kaa-chan~” he teased with a grin, earning a smack to his arm.
She turned to face you, offering a polite yet friendly smile. “Welcome to the Odajima home, dear. It’s a pleasure to meet you!”
You bowed politely to her. “Thank you for having me, Odajima-san.”
“Oh, please, no need to be so formal! You can just call me Kao. Or, if you feel so inclined… you can call me kaa-chan,” she winked at you, making you smile. “Well, what are you waiting on? Take your things upstairs and get settled. Go on!”
“Yes, kaa-chan~” sang Yuken before he started toward the stairs, you close behind.
His bedroom was clean and minimalistic, just like his apartment in the city. A single bed sat against the right wall with a bookcase on one side and a table on the other. Across from the bed was a desk, though there was nothing but a cup of pens sitting atop it. A dresser sat beneath the window and the closet was to the left of the door.
You set your bags on the bed, unzipping them so you could unpack. Yuken came up behind you, hugging you softly as he rested his chin on your shoulder.
“Don’t bother. We’re only staying for three days.”
“I know, but we should still put them away.”
He hummed, pressing his lips to the skin beneath your ear. “I’d rather spend that time with you.”
You grinned, turning around in his hold, your arms finding their place around his neck. “Technically, we’d be doing it together so you would be spending time with me.”
“I can think of better things to do,” he mused before pressing his lips against yours.
You didn’t hesitate to kiss back, tilting your head to the side to deepen the kiss. His tongue brushed against your lower lip and you granted him access just so you could brush your tongue over his piercing. He groaned in appreciation, giving you a squeeze before pulling away.
His forehead rested against yours, a goofy grin on his lips. “I love you so much. You know that, right?”
You hummed, eyes flashing red for a moment before a smile came to your lips. “You’re telling the truth.”
He pouted, lightly pinching your hip. “Did you really just use magic on me? How rude.”
“I’m sorry,” you replied, trying to sound genuine but the wolfish grin on your lips and the amused glint in your eyes gave you away.
“You are so not sorry.”
“I am, I swear~” You reached up to kiss him but he turned his face at the last second so you planted a kiss against his cheek. “Now that is rude.”
“I don’t kiss liars.” He tried to sound annoyed but, just like you, he couldn’t keep a straight face. For a moment, the two of you just looked at each other before bursting into a fit of giggles. “Liars must be punished!”
You laughed when he went slack against you, his weight forcing you back onto the bed. “You’re heavy, get offa me.”
“I refuse.” His face nuzzled into the crook of your neck, arms tight around your body. “You didn’t say it back.”
“Hm?” Your fingers brushed through his hair, tugging it free from the hair tie. “Say what?”
“You didn’t say you love me back.”
A warm smile came to your lips. “I love you, Odajima Yuken. I love you more than the moon loves the stars. More than the flowers love the sun.”
He slowly pushed himself up, elbows resting on either side of you as his eyes met yours.
You cupped his cheek with a smile. “I love you more than the wind loves the trees and more than the earth loves the rain.”
“You’re so cheesy,” he whispered, heart filled with warmth and love for you.
“You love it.”
“I really do,” he whispered, pressing his lips against yours again, this time in a slow, sensual embrace.
“Yuken! Your brother is home!”
The two of you broke apart and you furrowed your brow at him. “Brother? I thought it was just going to be your parents.”
“It was supposed to be.” His own brow furrowed as he pulled himself off the bed, holding his hand out to you. “I guess you’re meeting the whole family.”
You held back a groan as you followed him down the stairs. Standing in the doorway was a heavily pregnant woman holding the hand of a young little girl. When the child saw Yuken, her face lit up and she darted toward him, jumping into his arms.
“Ken-oji-chan!” She giggled when he held her up by the armpits, spinning her around.
“Look at you~” he cooed happily. “You’re getting so big!”
“Papa says if I eat my veggies, I’ll grow as big as you one day!”
“He’s right,” he tapped her on the nose, making her squeal in delight.
You couldn’t help but smile at the interaction and how cute the two of them were.
“Yuken,” called the woman, sending him a look. “Aren’t you going to introduce us?”
The tall male held the young girl against his hip with one arm, the other going around your waist and tugging you closer as he introduced you to them before introducing them to you. “This is my sister-in-law Midori and my adorable little niece Mikki.”
Milking smiled shyly at you, offering a small wave. “Nice to meet you.”
“You, too,” you smiled back.
“We’ve heard a lot about you,” grinned his sister. “Yuken talks about you constantly. It’s like he’s obsessed with you!”
“Nee-chan~” Yuken pouted, earning a laugh from the older woman. “I’m not obsessed…”
“Oh, you definitely are.”
His mom entered the room with a grin, tossing a dish towel over her shoulder. “There’s nothing wrong with it, Yuken dear. To love someone with all of your being is to be obsessed with them.”
Midori nodded in agreement. “That’s right. It’s so romantic!” Her eyes fell to you, cupping her mouth despite talking at a normal level. “He truly does love you. Make sure you don’t hurt him, okay? He’s surprisingly sensitive.”
“Nee-chan!” He scowled, pale cheeks dusting with pink.
You felt your own cheeks heat up the tiniest bit, butterflies fluttering in your stomach as a smile slid onto your face. You had been so afraid of meeting his family but you were realizing that they were the sweetest people. You already felt at home.
You felt eyes burning holes into you and you glanced toward the kitchen, spying Yuken’s dad lingering in the doorway with a blank expression. His dark eyes were staring directly at you and it felt as if he could see directly into your soul.
You shifted nervously, returning your attention to the siblings as they teased each other. You tried to ignore it, but there was a voice at the back of your head, repeating the same phrase like a mantra within your brain.
‘He knows you’re a witch. He knows, he knows, he knows. He knows you’re a witch!’
You shook your head to try and rid yourself of those thoughts. That simply wasn’t possible. You had only used your power once since arriving and it was just you and Yuken in the bedroom, the door closed. Though it was highly unlikely, there was a slim chance that he had somehow seen it or perhaps sensed it.
In your experience, finding a human who could sense a witch’s magic was incredibly rare, but not impossible. Could it be that he was one of those rare humans? Could it be that he really did know?
“Dear, are you okay?” Kao rested her hand on your arm, a worried frown on her face.
“Ah, yes, I’m fine,” you replied quickly, bowing to her in apology.
“If you’re sure…” She didn’t appear to believe you but she nodded anyway, taking the young girl from Yuken’s arms. “Who wants cookies?”
“I do, I do!” squealed Mikki.
“Let’s go get them, then, hm?”
The pair disappeared into the kitchen, Yuken’s father narrowing his eyes at you before following after them.
Midori offered you a comforting smile as she leaned closer, lowering her voice. “Meeting the family can be overwhelming, right? I was a wreck when I met them for the first time, but they truly are so loving and accepting. As long as you make their son happy, they will welcome you with open arms.”
“That’s good to know. Thank you,” you smiled gratefully at her.
Her lips parted but, before she could speak a word, the front door slammed open and a teenage girl came rushing in, carrying several bags. She had a scowl on her face and didn’t spare any of you a glance as she rushed up the stairs, knocking into Yuken on the way.
“Hey, Kaeli -” Yuken frowned when she ignored him, slamming the bedroom door a moment later.
Her father appeared in the doorway a few seconds later, a deep frown on his lips. He, too, was holding several bags.
Midori frowned at her husband. “Did you two argue again?”
“Yes,” he sighed. “She’s really not happy about the move.”
“It’ll take time, but I’m sure she’ll come around, darling.”
“I sure hope so.” He offered her a sad smile before taking notice of you. He quickly set the bags down, running his palm across his jeans before holding them out to you. “Hi! I’m Yuken’s older brother, Ran. Very nice to finally meet you.”
You slid your hand into his with a smile. “Nice to meet you, too, Ran-san.”
“Please, no need to be so formal. Just call me nii-chan,” he gave you a wolfish grin. “He talks so much about you, it feels as if I already know you!”
Yuken groaned, pressing his hand over his face and muttering under his breath about embarrassing siblings.
You laughed at this. “Hopefully all good things.”
“Yes,” he nodded. “He doesn’t have a single bad thing to say about you.”
Your hand found Yuken’s and you offered him a warm smile which he returned.
“I’m gonna take the bags upstairs and try to talk to Kae.” Ran picked up the bags and started toward the stairs but his wife stopped him, slipping in front of him.
“Let me talk to her instead, darling.”
“Probably a better idea,” he chuckled.
Yuken waited until they disappeared up the stairs before turning to you with a pout. “I’m sorry, my family is a bit eccentric.”
“Just like you,” you teased, bringing his hand to your lips. “They seem really sweet, though.”
“They are.”
You glanced at the kitchen door. Someone was clearly there but they pulled back so quickly that you weren’t able to see who. You thought about the blank stare his dad had given you and you frowned.
“What is it?” wondered Yuken, swinging your hand lightly between you.
“It’s just…” you looked at him with a furrowed brow. “Did you… tell your parents?”
“Tell them what?”
“About,” you waved your hand toward yourself for emphasis. “You know.”
“No, why would I tell them?” His brow furrowed as he glanced at the kitchen doorway. “You told me not to. I would never go behind your back like that.”
“I know. I know. Sorry,” you offered him an apologetic smile and he hummed, pulling you into a hug.
“Stop worrying so much, love. I won’t tell them unless you ask me to. We’re going to have a great weekend together without incident.”
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
───── ⋆⋅🍂⋅⋆ ─────
“Kaeli, it’s time for dinner,” Ran called out, standing in front of the sliding glass doors that led into the backyard.
She glared at him over her shoulder before turning away and putting her headphones on over her head. The blonde sighed, closing the door before sitting back down at the table.
“She’s never going to forgive me, is she?” He pouted, stabbing the bread roll with his fork. “I’m a terrible father!”
His mother chuckled from the other end of the table. “She’s a teenager. I’d be more worried if she didn’t hate you.”
Yuken lifted his head, sending her a fake offended look. “I didn’t hate you.”
“Yes, dear, but I’m your mother,” she smiled, patting his hand. “And you’re a good boy.”
“What about me, ma?” wondered Ran, making her hesitate.
“Well… you were a bit more of a handful, dear.”
He groaned, hanging his head. “No wonder she hates me. I was the bad child!”
“The youngest is always the angel,” commented Yuken with a snicker, looking at the young girl sitting across from him. “Isn’t that right, Mikki-chan~?”
“That’s right!” She giggled, throwing her arms into the air. “I’m an angel!”
Midori slowly came into the kitchen, face scrunched up in displeasure as her hand rested over her large belly. Ran jumped up, rushing over to her. “Hun, you should be in bed.”
“I’m fine,” she forced a smile. “I want to be with my family. Where’s Kaeli?”
“She doesn’t want to come inside…”
“I’ll get her. She’s gonna get eaten alive by mosquitos!” Shaking her head, she approached the glass door and slid it open, peering out into the night. “Kaeli? Kaeli, where are you?”
Ran rushed over, heading out into the yard and yelling out her name, but there was no sign of the young girl. “Kaeli! Kaeli, you answer me right now!”
You and Yuken exchanged a look, getting up from the table to help him look. Something made you pause on your way, though, your eyes widening as they fell onto the puddle beneath Midori.
She sent you a pained look, leaning against the counter for support. “I think… my water just broke…”
“Shit,” you cursed, rushing over to the door. “Yuken! Ran! Midori just went into labor!”
With wide eyes, the two males rushed back into the room, the air thick with tension and panic. Ran was fussing over her, trying to get her to do her Lamaze breathing despite the fact that she already was. Yuken gripped his hair, pacing back and forth with a panicked look on his face.
“What in the world is -” Kao entered the kitchen with a furrowed brow, brown eyes taking in the scene. She smacked her eldest child upside the head. “You’ve already had two children, what are you panicking for?”
“I don’t know!”
“Go get her bag.”
“Okay!” Ran rushed from the kitchen, his feet pounding on the stairs.
“Yuken, get Midori to the car.”
“Yes, kaa-chan!” Yuken carefully took her by the arm, helping her from the kitchen.
She sent you an apologetic look. “I hate to ask this of you, but will you try and find Kaeli? I’m sure she isn’t far. She’s a good girl, really.”
“I don’t mind at all. I promise to find her, so please don’t worry!” You gave her a determined look which she returned with a warm smile, bringing your hands into hers.
“I have no doubt, dear. Thank you.”
The way she said that concerned you but you didn’t have time to worry about whether or not she knew your secret. You grabbed your jacket, rushing out into the chilly autumn night and into the dense forest that sat at the edge of the property.
The sky was covered with grey clouds, blocking out the stars and the full moon. The ground was littered with orange and brown leaves, crunching beneath your feet as you ran. Unlike the city, the area was quiet and peaceful save for the occasional sound of an owl hooting from somewhere high above.
“Kaeli!” You called out, your voice echoing through the tall trees. “Kaeli, please answer me! Your mom has gone into labor!”
There was no response, making you curse.
‘Calm down, breathe.’ You stopped running, taking a few deep breaths until you felt your heart rate slowing. You closed your eyes, focusing hard on the world around you.
Every single living object has an aura, no matter how faint it may be. Even things such as trees and plants have their own aura, though it’s hard to pick up on because of how faint it is. On the opposite end of the spectrum, a human’s aura was by far the strongest which made tracking easy, especially when they were alone in a forest.
With your eyes closed, you were able to see the forest in black and white within your mind. You could see the faint red aura of Kaeli in the distance, but she wasn’t alone, surrounded by three massive wolves.
Panic gripped you as your eyes snapped open, your legs carrying you quickly in her direction. You heard them before you saw them – Kaeli begging them to leave her as they snarled and growled.
“Kaeli!” You cried, bursting through the tree line. Your sudden appearance startled the wolves and the one on the left lunged at you, teeth bared and jaw open wide. Your eyes flashed red as you issued a command, voice sounding as if it were layered. “Sit.”
The wolf whimpered, immediately sitting down and lowering its head, ears flat against its head. The other two charged at you.
“Sit!” you ordered, eyes flashing red. The brown wolf obeyed but you weren’t fast enough to use your power again as the black wolf jumped at you. You threw up your arm to block your face, wincing as its teeth sank into your flesh. With clenched teeth, you stared him directly in the eyes. “Retreat.”
The wolf slowly released its hold on you, whining in fear before scurrying off, his friends close behind. You waited until you could no longer sense them before you released the breath you had been holding, leaning back against a tree.
“Kaeli, are you alright?” you called out to her, a frown on your lips.
“Are you dumb?” She scoffed as she ran over to you, wide eyes set on the injury. “You just got attacked by a wolf but you’re asking me if I’m okay?”
You chuckled, taking her sass as a good sign that she was unharmed.
“I’m so confused,” she breathed out, eyes filling with tears. “Your eyes, they… were they glowing? And those wolves, they… they listened to you! How…?” She shook her head, wiping furiously at her eyes. “We have to get you to the hospital!”
“I’ll be okay.”
“You’re bleeding!” she cried in exasperation. “Yu-oji is gonna be so upset when he finds out…”
“Which is why we’re not gonna tell him,” you chuckled, knowing how protective your boyfriend could be.
“I think he’s gonna notice, oba-chan!”
Your heart warmed when she called you her aunt because it didn’t feel forced, it felt natural, as if you truly were part of her family. “Can you keep a secret, Kaeli?”
“I can, but -” she motioned frantically toward your bleeding arm. “He’s going to see it!”
“I guess we’ll just have to fix that, then, hm?”
“How?”
“Do you believe in magic?”
“Magic?” Her brow furrowed as she searched your gaze, realization slowly dawning on her. “No way…”
You smiled, holding your hand over the wound. Your eyes glowed red and your hand followed soon after, tendrils of red light shooting toward the wound. Warmth enveloped you as it slowly started to close, leaving not a single mark behind.
“Holy shit,” she muttered, eyes snapping to yours. “Don’t tell dad I said that.”
“Your secret is safe with me if mine is with you.”
Kaeli nodded frantically. “So, you’re a…?”
“A witch,” you admitted, watching her expression carefully for any sign of fear.
Rather than act afraid, though, her eyes lit up. “That’s so cool! Yu-oji is marrying a witch!”
Before you comment on the statement, you heard Yuken’s voice echoing through the trees, alternating between calling out your name and hers.
“Over here, babe!” You called out, peering around the tree so you could see him.
Relief flashed across his face when he saw you and he rushed forward, throwing his arms around your body. He exhaled sharply beside your ear. “I was so worried. I saw a few wolves and I thought…”
You patted his back gently. “Don’t worry, we’re perfectly fine. How’s Mikki doing?”
“Mom?” interjected Kaeli, voice trembling slightly. “Did something happen to her?”
“She went into labor, kiddo,” answered Yuken with a smile, ruffling the top of her head. “Do you want to stay here or go see her at the hospital?”
Kaeli bit her lip, shifting from one foot to the other. “Oba-chan?”
“Yes?” you looked at her curiously, ignoring the smirk that came across Yuken’s face when he heard what she called you.
“Do you think… they’re mad at me?”
“No. I think they’ll be happy to see you safe and sound, ready to meet your new sibling.”
She nodded, a smile coming to her lips. “I wanna go to the hospital, Yu-oji!”
“Then let’s go!” He slipped his hand into your own, starting toward the house. Kaeli ran ahead, pausing when she got too far so the two of you could catch up.
───── ⋆⋅🍂⋅⋆ ─────
You stifled a yawn as you stepped into Yuken’s bedroom, tossing your jacket on the desk. Yuken came in behind you, shutting the door behind him.
“Take the bed,” he mumbled tiredly, rubbing at his eyes.
“Not a chance.”
“I’m too tired to argue, love,” he groaned, trying to send you a stern look.
“Then don’t,” you grinned, lying down atop the air mattress that sat on the floor beside the bed.
His eyes narrowed at you and he didn’t hesitate to follow, laying his body on top of your own. You huffed at his weight but said nothing, wrapping your arms around him as he buried his face in your neck.
Silence fell over the room and you thought he had fallen asleep until he spoke up, his voice soft. “I’m really glad you came with me.”
“You didn’t really give me a choice,” you teased, combing your fingers through his silky hair.
“You wanted to come and you know it.”
“I can neither confirm nor deny that.”
He scoffed, arms tightening around you. “I love you so much. I’m happy we’re gonna get married one day…” His voice trailed off as sleep claimed him and you smiled, feeling warmth fill you.
“Yeah… I’m happy about it, too.”
Despite how exhausted you felt, sleep refused to come for you and you laid there for hours before finally giving up. Yuken slept pretty heavily, so you were able to slip out from beneath him without waking him up.
The house was silent, half the participants asleep while the other half were still at the hospital with Midori, waiting for her child to finally arrive. You slipped out into the backyard, breathing in the early morning air. It was still early so the sun hadn’t yet begun to peak its head over the horizon.
The clouds had disappeared and, though the stars were barely visible now, the full moon was still shining brightly as it slowly sunk lower across the sky. You fell onto the bench in the garden, exhaling softly.
Your body was sore from using your magic, though you weren’t surprised. Controlling magic was complicated, an advanced form of magic that required your own energy in order to pull off correctly. It was a tiring form of magic that witches tended to avoid simply because of how draining it was. You didn’t regret it, though, and would happily do it again.
The bench creaked as someone sat beside you and you glanced over, surprised to find Yuken’s father sitting there. You straightened up on instinct, feeling a bit nervous. The silence was heavy and uncomfortable so you forced yourself to speak.
“Can’t sleep?”
His dark eyes fell on you, narrowing. “I know what you are.”
You sucked in a breath, fingers curling around your pants. “I… I’m sorry?”
“Witch.”
Your heart fell to your stomach and you swallowed hard. You didn’t want to deny it because you’d be lying to his face – not a good thing to do to your future in-law. You couldn’t bring yourself to admit it either, though, terrified that he would tell you to break up with his son. Instead, you remained silent, trying to calm your nerves.
“I knew the moment I saw you. You witches have the same aura.”
You held back a groan. Of all the people to possess the rare ability to see a witch’s aura, why did it have to be the father of your boyfriend?
“I don’t like witches,” he stated, folding his arms over his chest.
You lowered your head, feeling ashamed despite having done nothing wrong.
“When I was a boy, a witch tried to kill me. Nearly did, too.”
“I’m so sorry,” you replied softly, feeling genuinely sad by this information. Not just because he was Yuken’s father, but also because witches who attack humans only make things worse for the race as a whole.
“Do you know how I survived?” he questioned, his gaze falling on you again.
You could imagine a few ways, none of them pleasant.
“My life was saved… by a witch.”
Your eyes snapped to his in surprise, having not expected that at all.
His eyes flickered to the necklace hanging around your neck. It was a red jasper crystal in the shape of a pendulum, hanging from a thin, black rope. “The witch that saved me was wearing that.”
You lifted your hand to the pendant with wide eyes. The necklace belonged to your mother, passed down through your family for generations. It was tradition to pass it on to your child upon their fifteenth birthday because that’s when they become a full-fledged witch.
You didn’t know what to say, your lips parting and closing repeatedly.
“If you’re the child of that woman, then I have no doubt that you’re one of the good witches. My son seems enamored with you and, while I’m weary of your kind, I don’t want to hurt him.” He shifted so he was facing you, eyes narrowed. “If you hurt my son in any way, I promise you will regret it. Witch or not, no one will stop me from protecting my child.”
You nodded in understanding. “I promise, Odajima-san, I will never hurt him. I… I love Yuken more than anything else in this world. I would die for him happily.”
“While I admire your dedication,” he grunted. “We don’t die for the people we love. We live for them.”
Your eyes widened at the wise words. “Yes… yes, you’re right.”
He nodded, seeming satisfied that he had gotten all of that off of his chest. He stood up, turning to head back inside only to pause, glancing back at you. “Tell your mom thank you. I didn’t get the chance.”
“I will,” you promised, watching him re-enter the house. Your body relaxed against the bench, a wide smile on your face as you turned your gaze to the sky, fingers brushing the crystal absent-mindedly. As the sun peaked over the horizon, rays of light falling across your body, you couldn’t help but feel completely at peace.
You felt at home with the Odajima family, as if they were your own. They had welcomed you with open arms and, though only two of them knew the truth about you, they had accepted you for who you are. It gave you hope for the future, hope that the rest of his family would be just as accepting.
