- Shizuku reads ALL the terms and conditions (i did too about the first ten times, it's alright, queen </3) and sometimes she does not completely understand or agree to one or two of them so just refuses to click the "i agree with blah blah blah" and gives up

- Emu is so good at maths that she does worksheets with ridiculously long and complicated questions for FUN (there was a girl like that at school and honestly wish i were her)

- Saki is really popular at school but does not realise it, like people scramble for a chance to talk to her and she's just like wowie!! everyone here is so nice :D (it's a bit because she was the hashtag New Girl for a while, a bit because there's probably a few W x S fans there that like Tsukasa (yes, i know, they have no taste) but mainly because she's Saki Tenma and who does not love Saki Tenma)

- Ichika found out about how Rui used to fix and modify Nene's dolls during one of her cute little chats with her, then went and commissioned Rui to build a little singing Miku doll which is now her most prized possession

- Mizuki and Nene are online friends through a game but didn't know each other's identities at first, they find out when one of them tells a highly specific funny story about Rui and the other is like "that literally CANNOT be anyone else, you must know Rui Kamishiro, i bet we know each other"

- Ena once tried to PAINT Akito's hair a different colour in his sleep when they were younger because she'd had ENOUGH of the sight of him (i would too)

[Of course your car had to break down in the middle of nowhere and your phone had to die. Now you're lost in some random place where you'll probably starve to d-] [Oh look, there's a hotel right there. How convenient.] [You stepped inside, the faint hum of the heater being the only sound in the room other than your footsteps. It was much better than the freezing cold outside, especially due to it being about 9 PM.] [There was a counter to the right and a couch with a coffee table on the left. Behind the counter was a man, probably in his early 20s, leaning against the counter. He looked asleep. There was a bell on the counter, right next to his ear.] [You stepped forward, hesitantly ringing the bell as he jolted awake.] [The man jumped and almost fell before composing himself.]

"Ghh- Um, hey. You here for a room?"

"Mhm."

"Mm. How long will you be staying?"

"Uhm.. It depends.. Where's the nearest mechanic?"

"Erm… I'm not too sure, maybe about ten hours out?"

[You muttered in annoyance under your breath as you thought for a moment.]

"Yeah, we don't have a bunch around here. So, how long?"

"Uhh.. Y'know what? Five nights, I guess.."

[He handed you a key.]

"Stairs are over there, and then it should be on the left side of the hall."

[He pointed to a hallway to the right of the counter.]

[You nodded as you took the key, walking to your room.]

[The room was neatly set up, ready for someone to stay in. There was a tray with a cup of tea and a bowl with sugars on it. The tea smelled faintly like bitter almonds.]

Sorry this took a while. I struggled to come up with something interesting that I liked, and then when I did think of something, I struggled to figure out how exactly to word my thoughts. And this definitely isn't the most well worded au concept, but fuck it, this is as good as it's gonna get, lol. Enjoy!

A unit swap/unit shuffle au, where the five group leaders are the leaders of different units.

Ichika Hoshino, after losing touch with her childhood friends, ends up forming a mysterious online music group who all operate at 25:00.

Minori Hanasato, while walking home after another failed interview, is pulled off the street by a girl she doesn't know and convinced to be part of her theater troupe.

Kohane Azusawa, in an unforeseen sequence of events, finds herself training alongside three ex-idols after convincing them not to give up on their dreams.

Tsukasa Tenma, setting aside his previous desire for stardom, instead aims to help his sister and her two childhood friends achieve their dream of becoming a band.

Kanade Yoisaki, who'd given up on music after her father fell ill, wanders into a café on Vivid Street and is enamored by the girl she sees singing there.

How would their different friend groups and circumstances affect them? How would they affect the people in their groups? How would their relationships with those around them (and each other *wink wink nudge nudge*) be the same or different from in canon? That's for you to decide! :D

And for a little extra spice, what if the canon versions of the five leaders were inexplicably transported to this alternate reality in place of their counterparts? And now they all need to work together to find a way back to their reality (and maybe they grow closer in the process, teehee)? I think that would be a fun plot to play around with.

- someone claimed that he represents toxic muscularity but in their defense they're being petty & jealous that their favorite doesn't have as much screentime as magna, we understand their pain 😔

- for a better example tho, and it doesn't really make me angry, but I don't like the notion that magna is prettier when his hair is down, nah no nope hair up magna has so much personality and swag I'm happy it's kept as his default

Yami:

- I come across "yami is an abusive captain" takes twice a year and they never stop sounding so horrible

- I can't pinpoint the specific headcanon but I know many yamichar think of charlotte as yami's most important person and NO SHE IS NOT... the black bulls are and will always be the most important to him, there's also ichika and julius and morgen and the list goes on and on, he certainly cares for charlotte but it's not to that level and it's frustrating to see his relationship with the bulls get downplayed just to glorify a romantic relationship (no hate towards charlotte tho she's great as her own person)

they all have different group names but ill just put the original ones (for the length of these asks and for suspense ill reveal the others later)

l/n: saki (unit leader), an, mizuki, toya

-

l/n -> NovA

-saki wanted to form a band with her old friends after she could live (mostly) normally again

-learns that her old friend group has drifted apart and ichika (who she originally formed l/n with) wont get in contact with her

-gets her (kind of?) brother, toya, to join her makeshift band. they preform as a duo for a while, but saki decides they need more members.

-while searching, they preform at WEEKEND GARAGE. an notices their preformance and congratulates them when theyre finished

-extra note, an didnt attend RAD WEEKEND in this au. she knows her dad was a singer and wants to get on his level, however.

-through an, mizuki learns of the group and decides to join too (with a little bit of convincing)

-an still doesnt know about nagi. this will make for great angst later!

-toya finds out about mizukis secret proabably ~2-3rd anni. saki is oblivious. an already knew :D

-the sekai is called Studio SEKAI

-toya is bass, an is guitar, saki is keyboard, mizuki is drums

No I do not care that this was her first 4*. How can people say the old sets are bad like have you SEEN the Stella set? It's absolutely beautiful.

This set is so pretty!! It’s one of my favorite perm sets. Honami's is definitely my favorite though because the twinkly stars really take it up a level.

Shiho looks really cool in this one and I love the artstyle. I like the sign that just says "sign".

Ough his fes is so good. The symbolism as well like music is really important to Toya and it’s a huge part of his life but he's keeping this specific part behind a curtain for now. The fact it’s in the part of his fragment sekai that isn’t as derelict as the rest- it hurts.

Receiving Your Inspiration (A Sorrowful Farewell at the Curtain Call)

It was really close between this and Torpe but ultimately I chose this one. It’s really bright and warm compared to Rui's dark and cold and Nene's in-between and I think that's why it sticks out to me.

Yumekawa sets are always some of my favorites and this set especially. Imo this is also the most “Emu” card so far like it’s so fun and colorful and imaginative

Mary poppins nene!! Like I said with Emu this is probably one of the most “Nene” cards to me, she needs more stuff that has that classic musical theatre kinda vibe.

I think this whole set was really pretty but this one is probably my favorite from it. I like the references to previous wandasho events and looking at this after Curtain Call just hits different yk

Flowerbed of Memories (Carnation Recollection)

Like I said with Akito this one is about the emotion. I think it captures the event story really well like if you have background context you can see all the connections to the Yoisaki family and Kanade reminiscing about that warmth.

I had a really hard time picking my favorite but I think I’m gonna go for her archery card as well. I already said it but this set is great and I love the details in the background of this card as well.

I remember really well when this one leaked because it was around the time I started actively playing the game and I’m still in awe about it. It looks so good for a permanent card and we have never gotten another card like this.

Not the most impressive choice but white day sets go hard. I love medieval/fantasy AU and this card is really cool. Also convinced that the artist does not know how heavy flagpoles are.

I love the colors on this one it looks so pretty; pink and purple palettes look so nice. Also leo/need with stars always a plus.

Probably my second favorite perm set after archery. I love space/sci-fi themed things and this is probably my favorite from that set. The colors are really nice and I like the lore implications of her solar system model

Egg Crack (Collar x Malice)

So this has been sitting in my WIP list for a minute-

I had a need- a desire- a MUST to write this! I just- I adore Yanagi so much y'all it's almost unhealthy jkkjrekajrjke He's such a gem of a human; he deserves the entire world (and tickles lols)! I hope you like it! :D

Summary: During a case read-through, Aiji finds himself distracted by Ichika and Mineo's antics. He finds that he doesn't really mind it.

Numbers. Roman Numerals. Victims. His head was starting to hurt-

A loud squeal shook Aiji free from his thoughts, turning his attention away from the file in hand.

“Oh my god! Oh my god, you just-pfffft!” His eyes landed on Mineo laughing hysterically, clapping his hands and kicking his feet while a red faced Ichika beat him with her own paperwork. “You squehehealed so loohohud!”

“Hush, Enomoto! You’d do the same thing if someone grabbed your knee like that!” To prove her point, she gestured towards the nearest joint. “Give me your leg!”

“H-Huh? So eager..”

“Enomoto!”

“Ah, fine!”

Aiji raised a brow, curious about what they were doing. He watched Ichika grab Mineo’s leg, one hand holding it down while the other rested on the tip in a closed position. Without breaking eye contact, she slowly dragged her fingers down in the notorious “egg-crack” motion.

How devious. His own leg twitched at the phantom tickle just witnessing it.

 “GA-HA!” Mineo nearly flew out of his seat, the noise he released was just as high as hers. 

“See! Tickles, doesn’t it?” She gloated in response, shrieking when he went to grab her knee again. “Back off, eyepatch!”

“OH! Oh hell no- you take that back, you crazed cat!” “Oi. You’re both too noisy. Shut the hell up.” Takeru’s voice cut through their childish shrieks and giggles, making them both pause and look at him. Banned from his computer for a “obligatory screen break”, he had been side-eyeing the duo around his own corner of the couch.

Ichika and Mineo looked at one another. Then they smiled, sharing matching mischievous looks. Takeru only took a moment to catch on.

“Don’t you dare-” Takeru began, trying to get up and run. Unfortunately for him, the duo could be rather fast when they desired. They threw themselves at him with war cries, earning a startled “SHIT!” from the hacker.

 Aiji ducked his head to hide his growing smile at the chaos adjacent to him, limbs flying and giggles mixing with shrieks. Takeru’s threats of murder and bodily dismemberment were quickly swapped with helpless laughter as the tickle team found their mark, squeezing the life out of his knees and thighs.

“He’s so ticklish! Oh my god this is adorable!” Mineo cackled, just barely avoiding a fist to the face. “Oi, careful! Watch out-he’s mad now!”

“Careful! Grab his hands before he- Ehehehheheh!” Ichika let out a string of giggles as her hips were squeezed. “Nohoho, doohohn’t tickle mehehe!” 

It was proving even more difficult now to focus on work while listening to her precious laughter. Aiji pressed his file against his face as he shook with restrained laughter, his focus completely lost but his amusement at an all time high. 

It all came to an end with Mineo rolling- no, shoved off the couch by a red-faced Takeru, Ichika joining him soon after. Despite the hacker’s angry complaints, they were practically in tears- holding their bellies and falling into one another as they guffawed helplessly. It was quite the sight. Aiji wanted to take a picture.

….Get it together, Yanagi. He internally chided himself, feeling his ears redden at his own weakness. Focus on the case.

“Ugh, forget you two!” Takeru griped as he drew his knees up, accepting that his complaints fell on deaf ears. Despite his words, he wasn’t really angry. Aiji was around the tiny man long enough to tell the difference.. “Why don’t you two go be stupid somewhere else? Spread your moron-virus elsewhere!”

“Hehe, that’s our Sasazuka! Always getting pouty whenever he’s tickled.” Mineo laughed as he turned his attention elsewhere. “Shiraishi!” He called to the blonde sprawled across the couch, seemingly disinterested. “Are you ticklish on your knees?”

“Nope.” He replied with his usual smirk, eyes never leaving his file. Mineo and Ichika once more shared a mischievous smile.

“Well see about that!” They cried in unison, jumping at his legs. Shiraishi in response merely stretched them out further, giving them more access.

Nothing. Not even a twitch.

“Not even a giggle. Damn- he wasn’t lying.” Mineo tsked, disappointed. His companion nodded in agreement, patting Kageyuki’s leg in both thanks and apology. “Thanks for letting us try anyway.”

With that, they stood, seeming to return to their work. The brunette felt both relieved and disappointed at the lack of interest regarding himself.

“Yanagi is.” Kageyuki spoke ever so calmly, as if he didn’t just set off a bomb. Aiji stiffened all over, his face burning like lava as he felt all eyes on him. He had a terrible feeling his flimsy shield of paper did nothing to hide his expression.

“Yanagi?” Mineo seemed utterly shocked at such a revelation, as if the thought of the older man being ticklish was impossible. Takeru was struggling to seem disinterested, and Ichika tilted her head at him in that cute way she did whenever she had a question.

“Yanagi…are you ticklish?” She asked, smiling through her words.

Now Aiji had a few options. He could use his authority as the group leader to shut down any attempts on him or even end their game. He could excuse himself for a smoke break turned great escape when they inevitably come after him. He could be honest- he could lie.. He could dodge the question with a question of his own, or deal his own tickle attack twice as devastating upon them.

Instead, the only thing that came out of his mouth was a deafening “Uh…”

“Get him.” Takeru’s simple command sealed his fate. Before Aiji could reconsider running, Mineo and Ichika were on each side of him, grabbing at his legs.

“Wait, wait h-hold on! I’m too oohold for thiihihihihis!” His pleas for mercy were cut down at the touch of Ichika’s hand, her nails just grazing his knee in that classic egg-crack method. Even with pants on, it tickled severely, making his leg twitch and his voice crack with mirth. “I whahahahs woohohorking on the chahahahahse!”

“Oh? So you weren’t secretly watching them this entire time? I don’t think you’ve read a single word off that document in the past ten minutes.” Kageyuki stuck his tongue out playfully, voice nearly lost in the brunette’s growing giggles and laughs. “You looked so eager to join in. Why lie now?”

“Aww, you wanted to play too, Yanagi?” Ichika asked in a sweet, teasing voice, making him want to curl up and hide from how effective it was in weakening him. “You should have just said so! Enomoto, hold his legs down for me!”

“Got it!”

“Nohoohoho! Wahahhait, wahahahit, thahhatat’s noohoht ihihiht!” Now she was tickling him with two hands! Aiji gave up trying to sit up as he sank in his seat, hiding behind an arm. “Hohoohoshino, pleahhahahahse-Gah! Eehhehehenohohohmohohohoto!”

“What? Oh, sorry- my hand slipped.” The redhead laughed- squeezing his thigh periodically on “accident.” He looked beyond happy at such a discovery- it was almost worth the embarrassment of being brought to giggly tears before his subordinates.

Almost. “Gehahhahahaha! Cohohohome oohohoh, tihihihis is tohohoho mhuhuhuch!”

“I don’t think it’s enough.” Oh no- not a third party! Takeru had somehow snuck up on him, kneeling beside his sinking being and gently prodding at his ribs. The touch was enough to make Aiji shoot down his arms with a startled squeak. “Wow- you’re ticklish here too?”

“Tickle his stomach- he’ll die.” Kageyuki called. Aiji was going to murder the bastard.

“Nohooho, doohoho-OHOHON’T!” Hands on his knees and thighs were bad enough, but now his worst spot was getting tickled! With little fight left in him, Aiji could only curl up loosely on his side, wheezy chortles and snorts escaping his smiling lips as he was tickled relentlessly. If they were teasing him, he couldn’t tell- far too caught up in the overwhelming feeling of ticklishness. “Plehahahahhase! PleahahhEHEHHheahhahahse, enoohohohough! Stahahahahap!”

“Hm? Oh- okay!” Ichika’s voice cut in through the chaos, once his weakness and now his savior. “Guys, that’s enough. He’s done.”

“Huh. He lasted longer than I thought.” Takeru mused as he did as requested, Mineo far too giggly to add any additional commentary. Free from their clutches, Aiji fell pathetically to his side against the couch cushions, breathing slowly through residue giggles and laughs. His vision was kinda blurry- he could make out Kageyuki laughing at him, the sound of Takeru and Mineo bickering like kids. Where was-

Hands guided him up some. Then his head was resting in something warm and soft. He smelled perfume and soap; dark fabric blending into tights before his vision as he realized his head was now resting in Ichika’s lap. He felt his face flush once more, daring a peek up at her. “Erm..?”

“Why act so surprised? We are dating.” She shrugged, going for blase. It might have worked had she not been blushing just as much as him, a shy but adorable smile on her lips. “Rest. You’ve been working hard all morning.”

He heard the sound of the door closing, only just now realizing they were alone. When did the others leave? Not that he necessarily wanted them to stay while he was like this. “I suppose…a short rest wouldn’t hurt.”

“Mhm.” Her nails ran through his tousled hair, an unfair touch that stripped him of any defense he may have had left. Giving into her will, he closed his eyes.

Before he fell asleep, he felt her lean down and kiss his cheek, whispering words of love in his ear.

He dreamed of black cats and vanilla scented clouds soon after.

Sci-fi/Fantasy AU, here are some things you should know about Tsukasa, Saki and their alien race :D

Their home is known as Stella (or simply "Star").

People from Stella are mainly known as the Stars People, Stellarians (not used as much but it's used) and Children of the Stars (some will use "of Stella" instead, usually more elderly Stellarians).

Stellarians communicate telepathically, it's a skill that can't be taught, so more often than not, Children of Stella will go on trips with their parents to other places (like Earth) in order to learn the language. It's easier when they're young, the older they are, the less they're able to fully grasp things beyond a "hello" "yes" "no" and "goodbye."

Tsukasa's first trip to Earth with one of his parents resulted in him discovering theater and it became his favorite reason to visit the planet.

He also taught Saki a bit of what he learned language wise before she took her first trip.

That being said, both still struggle to actually speak the language. It's hard to adjust to, especially when they don't seek out someone from Earth to talk to.

Earth has a bit of a rough reputation with Stella. Most Stellarians avoid it because they feel it's a danger. They're not exactly the most easily hidden people. They always have a glow to them, stardust makes their skin and hair twinkle, they're either different shades of blue, yellow or red (Tsukasa and Saki are yellow stars). There's just this belief that, especially from elders who have visited the planet, people from Earth will want to capture them if they see them. And they have a right to feel that considering how often they would see people from Earth capture their own inhabitants because they look different (ex., Haruka being kidnapped as a child and kept in captivity because she's a siren and sirens make a lot of money performing).

When both Tsukasa and Saki visit Earth again, they didn't mean to go at the same time. Tsukasa had left first and Saki had followed, neither knowing that they were both planning on leaving the same day, otherwise they would have gone together.

It's morning when Tsukasa arrives, and evening, near dark, when Rui, Nene and Emu first discover him.

Saki arrives at night and she just happens to be in the exact same area Ichika is.

Rui, Nene and Emu use a mix of charades, writing and speaking when communicating with Tsukasa, while Ichika, for a long time would try to guess what Saki is thinking or trying to tell her. Between Tsukasa and Saki, Tsukasa is the one who will speak more verbally. He knows it a bit better and Saki just finds it easier to express herself telepathically and with her physical abilities.

↑ Speaking of physical abilities, as I mentioned earlier, Stellarians come in shades of blue, red and yellow. Aside from the stardust that makes them twinkle, they always emit a glow that gets brighter or dimmer based on their emotions. Where Ichika doesn't make Saki cover up her glow, using it to see how the other feels, Rui, Nene and Emu make Tsukasa wear a dark cloak with a hood to make sure his glow is hidden. The difference between the two is Ichika and Saki are travelling through a less populated area, while Rui, Nene, Emu and Tsukasa are travelling through very populated areas (villages, town squares, the Shiraishi Kingdom, etc.).

Stellarians travel through light. It's not an automatic thing, they need to actually reach out to it and want to go somewhere. In short , there's a connection that they have access to.

Children need to be watched extra carefully when they're first learning to travel, an adult has to be with them when they learn light travel in case they end up somewhere they didn't mean to go to. Children also have to have an adult with them for the first few years of light travel. Typically a parent or a guardian. When Tsukasa first visited Earth, his parents decided that they would take turns visiting with him while the other stayed with Saki. And once she was old enough, they would visit together. Stellarians begin to light travel alone by the time they would 14-16 in Earth years.

assigning PJSK characters media i've enjoyed at some point that i think they'd like:

Ichika- Omori (themes of a friend group drifting away... yeah. is it ever actually said if Ichika likes gaming? cause i get the feeling that she would)

Saki- Lego Friends (the Lego itself i imagine could've been a fun activity to pass time during her hospital years, but i imagine her also being entertained by the various animated series)

Shiho- Sumikko Gurashi (she seems to like cute things secretly, plus two of the mascots are penguins)

Honami- Strawberry Shortcake (i loved it when i was younger and it has such Honami vibes, she canonically likes baking and desserts, as does Strawberry Shortcake's titular character)

Goodbye, my Friend

This one is for @vesta-ro. They requested a scenario based on the CiaD-Y/N, where they and Kyuuma had been really close in the real life and they get a chance to say goodbye before the end of the King of Clubs game. Which doesn’t please Chishiya at all :D

It was really fun to work on something a bit different this time!

Leaving the camp and all your friends still feels wrong somehow. The Witch Hunt has caused so many deaths and the survivors just found together again, only for you to scoot away with Chishiya early in the morning. Has Kuina been mad when waking up and noticing you weren’t there anymore, or wasn’t she surprised at all? Will they be fine? What games will they choose to play, and who will survive till the end?

What games will you play?

Everything about the second stage is uncertain. It is obviously much more dangerous and difficult than what you went through these last weeks, and it scares you. Having Chishiya on your side is only a mild comfort in that, since he will most likely chase every single Diamonds game he can find and you can’t tell what feels worse – knowing he could die in one of them or being left alone since you definitely won’t accompany him into one. 

On top of that, what if Chishiya decides your presence has been enough? That man really has a talent to leave unnoticed at every occasion, and there’s always a chance of waking up one morning without him next to you. It is a frightening thought, that he might leave you and die in a game, and you’d never know what happened to him, but this is the way games are played in this world. 

So many deaths. Quick ones, slow ones. The trauma it caused the survivors is never to be forgotten. And still… up to this day, none of the deceased ones has been close to you. There have been a couple of faces you recognized from real life; people you had sometimes passed in stores and cafés or something, but none you’d call an acquaintance or even friend.

The more you think about it, the less you want to see an old friend here. The chance of them dying is far too big, and you’re not sure that’s a pain you would be able to handle. 

The fear of losing Chishiya is already enough, and the same goes for the new friends you have made since arriving here – the ones that are still alive after all.

You gulp when the image of Ichika’s lifeless body emerges from your memories, shot dead by Niragi who has mercilessly hunted down anyone in the Beach to find the Witch. Just another reminder that Death never makes fair choices but ones a simple human will never comprehend.

The dark thoughts make you completely unobservant to your surroundings, and only the sound of a loud Gong! causes you to flinch and finally look up from the splintered concrete beneath your feet. You frantically look around to find its source, until Chishiya nods towards a clock tower in the distance, announcing the time as 12AM. Right above the clock face you notice two stag heads bumping their antlers against each other, twelve times in total. 

“Twelve times…” you mutter, and Chishiya hums, understanding your thoughts. “…twelve games. The start signal.”

Further away, the echo of shots bounces off the walls around you, making you shiver. A sniper, most likely, and you suppose they belong to one of the games. The second stage has begun and already people are dying. 

“Chishiya…” you begin, your voice merely more than a whisper, “I know you’ll want to participate in one of the Diamonds games. But… can we keep on walking, for just a bit longer? The fresh air helps to clear my mind, and I don’t think all three Diamonds games will be cleared that fast.”

His grunt is more than enough proof that he doesn’t like that idea too much, but he doesn’t keep you from heading towards the river. You reach for his hand, glad that he accompanies you anyway. A bit more of peace is all you want before diving head first into new games, and you have a feeling that the water will be the perfect place to provide that to you. 

The buildings around you get smaller and the river comes in sight, its water so clear and unpolluted that life has found its way back into the flowing cold. Fish scales are glinting under the surface, uncaring for your presence as you let your hand slide into the river. 

Humans aren’t a threat anymore here in this world. It should make you happy for nature, but somehow it’s more a sad thought; a reminder that humans aren’t really important and humanity isn’t meant to last. 

Lost in thought, you merely keep track of time passing. It must have been at least an hour since Chishiya or you both spoke a word, with the sound of your footsteps on the ground being the only thing that fills the silence, and you’re not entirely sure if it’s comfortable or not. 

You follow the river until it meets the ocean, the never-ending blue that is both so fascinating and incredibly dangerous. 

“I wonder what’s on the other side”, you ponder while watching the waves, “if there is a world outside of Tokyo.”

Chishiya follows your glance and hums, his lips curled up into the tiniest smirk. “Hatter tried to send out players using sailboats. They never came back, but red lasers were seen somewhere out there.”

“So if you try to run away, you’ll die?”

He nods, continuing to walk further along the harbor site. Not far in the distance, hundreds if not thousands of containers are stacked upon each other, creating a labyrinth of metal that will never sail the seven seas again. A sad yet fascinating thought, and something pulls you towards the containers, an unexplainable urge to go there and read the signs that you won’t understand anyway. Numbers and letters representing countries and companies, and yet you’ll never know what contents they carried – from yellow bath ducks to the most expensive luxury furniture. 

Chishiya doesn’t question why you’re heading towards that part of the harbor despite the King of Clubs blimp hovering in the air just above the metal labyrinth. This is a game venue, but you don’t want to participate. Now that you’re almost there, you spot a narrow path next to the containers, only a few inches of concrete between metal and the sea; a pathway that doesn’t seem to belong to the game. 

“Are you sure-“ Chishiya starts, but you don’t let him finish. 

Without a word, you squeeze past the first container, the sound of untamable shores right next to your feet. The noise of the blimp isn’t as loud as you’d expect being so close to it, and the huge banner with the King of Clubs on it moves gently with the wind. No noise comes from the other side of the metal wall, and you wonder if something happened there already. The second stage has just started, so maybe the game hasn’t even begun. 

The blonde huffs behind you, not exactly happy with the way you chose for your walk. You must be careful not to lose your footing, otherwise you’ll end up soaked in salt water, and the same goes for Chishiya. Although the thought of the blonde tumbling into the ocean makes you giggle. It would be cute seeing him helpless and out of control just for once, as long as it’s a benign situation. 

“Someone’s there”, you hear his muttering voice, and it makes you look up from the floor. Immediately, you spot an opening in the container wall, and a lone man is standing there, hands stretched out and face lifted towards the sky.

While being completely naked.

But that is not what makes you halt in an instant. It’s not the fact that you can see the bare and amazingly well-built man in all his glory. It’s not his shoulder-long hair waving in the wind, not the thoughtful look on his face. Not the metal bracelet around his wrist. 

It is the fact that you know exactly who this man is that causes you to inhale sharply. 

“Ginji…?” you whisper, not sure if you can believe what your eyes are showing you. 

The man turns as soon as he hears your voice, his expression as startled as yours. Once you can see his face, there is not a single doubt left: this is Kyuuma Ginji. Nudist, band leader, first love of your life. 

He’s here, in the Borderlands. And if there is one thing you know, then that this can never be a good thing. 

The way Kyuuma mutters your name makes you feel things you never thought you’d ever feel again. A familiarity is in his voice, a kindness that has been the center of your life for a long time until your ways had parted. Both of you had been young, and life moved on, with either of you choosing different directions to follow. Years had passed where you barely thought about him, but now, everything returns. 

Before you realize, you find yourself in a tight hug, not at all embarrassed by the fact that Kyuuma is still entirely nude. A lot more muscles than you remember move under his sun-warmed skin, and he’s taller than when you last met. But his eyes, the soulfulness and kindness in them, haven’t changed a bit. 

Kyuuma grabs your shoulder with one hand, pushing you away just a bit so he can see your face. With the other hand, he grabs your wrist, scanning it for something. Probably a bracelet of the kind he is wearing. “How?” he wonders, “how did you enter the game?”

You swallow. That Kyuuma is participating in such a high game doesn’t feel right. Until now you hadn’t even known that he’s here in the Borderlands, but you don’t want anything bad to happen to him. “I didn’t”, you answer honestly. “We were taking a walk, and I must have found some kind of loophole. But… what about you? How come you’re here, too? And why are you participating in this game? The King of Clubs, on top of that!”

A shadow covers his eyes, a sadness that feels heavy on your shoulder where his hand still remains. “Because I am the King.”

“That’s… no way. Stop kidding, Ginji! This isn’t the place for jokes right now.”

Sometimes, silence gives away more about the truth than a thousand words, and when he doesn’t answer, you take a few steps back while shaking your head. “No. No, no, no!” 

You’re no fool. If Kyuuma is truly a citizen – and you know him well enough to tell when he’s lying and when not – then it’s obvious that one of you won’t survive the end of this stage. Either the players will win, or the citizens. The Borderlands leave no space for something in between. 

Tears well up in your eyes, blurring the image of your dear friend and the wonderful sight of the ocean to your right. “That can’t be. It’s not fair, I-… I just found you!”

Kyuuma laughs, and the sound of it breaks your heart. He is always so gentle and genuine, despite the circumstances. “Would it have been any different if you’d found me earlier?” He asks, not expecting you to answer at all. His hand finds the way back to your shoulder and squeezes tightly, a familiar gesture of comfort. “We are winning the game. It is impossible for the player team to collect any more points now, so all that’s left is wait. Which means for now I’m not dead, and neither are you.”

“You’re… winning?” you whisper, not sure if that’s a good thing. On one hand, it’d mean Kyuuma’s survival for the moment, but on the other… 

Shaking your head, you place your hand on top of Kyuuma’s. The act is caused by a lack of words, although your old friend understands anyway. “Don’t worry too much. You always do that.”

“And you never worry at all.”

Kyuuma spreads his arms out again, as if he wants to hug the entire world. “Why should I? Life is wonderful. It’ll still be once we die. Death is nothing that could scare me, I’m ready to accept whatever outcome there will be for me. Shitara saw that too, and the rest of the band are on my side no matter what happens.”

The image of Kyuuma’s band fills your mind, and you remember the many evenings you had spent listening to their songs in garages and cellars. “They’re all here with you”, you conclude, not even a question. 

“They are, and no matter what, we’ll live or die together. You, though…” He tilts his head, a sad grin on his lips. 

Whatever happens to them, it’ll most likely be the opposite for you. And since you somehow managed to sneak into the area of a running game, this might be the last time to see Kyuuma alive. “We… should say farewell, then.”

The good-looking nudist wipes a single tear from your cheek before he pulls you into one last hug. Right here, right now, you could forget the dark world around you and pretend that you both’d be teenagers again, desperately in love and blind for the mystery around them. 

“Farewell, my friend”, Kyuuma breathes into your hair. 

You don’t want to let go. You don’t want to leave your friend behind, knowing that you will never meet again. Once you step back, everything will be said and done, and you are not ready for that to happen. But when Chishiya clears his throat behind you, you accept that there’s no use prolonging the inevitable. 

Taking a deep breath, you look Kyuuma deep in the eyes, feeling only a little bit of remorse that you entirely forgot about Chishiya’s presence for a while. 

“The game is about to end”, says the blonde in a stone-cold voice, “and we shouldn’t be in the area when that happens.” The icy tone is enough to tell you how much he despises seeing you and Kyuuma like this.

With a nod, you both agree to Chishiya and tell Kyuuma everything that words could never truly describe. That you won’t forget him if you’re the one to survive this, and that Kyuuma Ginji will always be dear to your heart, no matter what. He nods back, signaling that the same goes for him. The connection between the both of you has always been special, no matter for how long you’d lost contact in the past. Kyuuma might not be the love of your life any longer - that spot is likely to be replaced by a certain blonde and very arrogant surgeon - but he’ll always be the first you ever loved, your first kiss and your first heartbreak. 

The more you think about it, the more it feels like a gift that you were allowed to see Kyuuma one last time. Not as an enemy in a game, but as a friend. 

You take one last deep breath before turning around and walking away side by side with Chishiya. He doesn’t react when you reach out to hold his hand, since he’s probably sour about the scene he just witnessed. Not that you could blame him, although you won’t apologize, either. 

Together, you leave the containers behind and with them the game area. As you dare to throw a look over your shoulders, you notice just in time how a red laser cuts through the sky, crashing right into the spot where Kyuuma has been. Only seconds after, the blimp hovering high above the metal labyrinth explodes into thousands of burning pieces falling to the ground. You don’t watch it long enough to see the banner burn to ashes. 

Kyuuma has been sure that this game would count for the citizens, but somehow, the players have found a way to win in the end. But knowing your friend, it is clear that he didn’t regret a single thing before he died. Kyuuma left in peace with the world and with himself, and surprisingly you feel part of that peace too, despite new tears running down your cheeks. 

What comes even more surprising is that Chishiya eventually gives in and wraps his fingers around yours. He’ll never talk about what just happened, and you don’t want him to. It is enough to know that he’s still here. Maybe, just maybe, there’s even a tiny bit of satisfaction that he did feel something while watching you hug a naked, very good looking man. 

Love doesn’t come without a bit of teasing, after all.

Of course! Sorry it took a while, it was hard to come up with something for them. I think it ended up being a bit long too, but I hope you enjoy it regardless :D

Ichika Hoshino has always wanted to be a sailor. Ever since she was a young girl, being told bedtime stories about her father's time at sea, or going on regular fishing trips with her family and friends, she's been enamored with the water and the wonders hiding beneath it.

She's given the chance to join her dad on one of his fishing trips, an opportunity she takes eagerly and gratefully. The work is tough, and being struck on a cramped boat is nothing like the dry land Ichika is used to, but the experience is everything she's ever hoped it would be, and she's more determined than ever to follow in her father's footsteps someday.

One night, Ichika is out on the deck, unable to sleep and wanting some fresh air. She's leaning against the edge of the backend of the ship, looking up to the sky and naming all the constellations she recognizes under her breath, and listening contently to the splashing of waves below.

She's suddenly startled out of her trance by the sounds of struggle, coming from the large fishing net at the back of the boat (it wasn't large by sailor standards, per say, but it was a bigger net than Ichika had ever used at home). Something big must've gotten stuck in that thing, she'd assumed, and she's left at a loss of what to do.

Ichika considers going to wake her dad to ask him for help freeing it (she can't just leave it struggling there!), but before she can make up her mind, she picks up on what she can only describe as a voice. A person's voice.

Intrigued (and maybe a little scared), she begins to lift the net up out of the water. It's slow going, especially since it's just her pulling it up, but she's done a lot of heavy lifting throughout her childhood and had fairly strong arms. As she does so, the voice gets clearer, though most of what she hears is various profanities.

Once she's finally able to get a look at the thing, she nearly drops the net again in shock.

She was looking at a human face. Pale skin, wide orange eyes, and a head of black and blue hair. If it weren't for the scales on the girl's face, or the gills on her neck, or the actual fish tail in place of her legs, Ichika would think she was just an ordinary human.

Remembering that the girl is trapped in a net, Ichika apologizes profusely and immediately goes to free her, pulling her out of the net and onto the ship railing. The girl thanks her, and asks for her name.

Ichika and the stranger (who she soon learns is named An Shiraishi) spend some time talking, asking and answering all manner of questions about themselves. Ichika is in awe that something- someone- like An exists in this world, and An has never actually talked face to face with a human before, only ever watching them from afar.

Their time is unfortunately cut short when they hear one of the crew members start approaching the deck, and An has to hurry away. Before she slips back into the water, though, Ichika asks if they can see each other again. An flashes her a smile, and tells Ichika she'll make sure of it.

And just like that, the pretty mermaid is gone, disappearing back under the dark ocean waves.

Ichika sputters out some excuse to the sailor asking why she's out there, and she allows them to lead her back inside so they can go back to bed, but can't help smiling softly as she glances back at the edge of the boat.

She really hopes she can see An again.

Emu : she definetly loves playing taiko drum , sometimes will do on pc or console , but she has the full drum and stick controller in her house . that and party games . this silly girl has mastered every single wii party minigame

Mizuki : Mainly likes pjsk-esque? phone rythm games , enstars , bandori , d4dj and that stuff . theyre quite skilled at them too , most people still are intrigued on how they have such reflexes to play on master dificulties . also of course she does love dress-ups

Mafuyu : She doesn't really play a lot of stuff . Mizuki once invited her to try arcades and she was surprisingly cracked at fighting games .. at least didnt say no when asked if she had fun , but just "mmhm"d . ( she did kiiind of , actually )

Nene : She's quite good at anything you tag her to play . but personally , mainly RPGs or general fantasy styled games . may be zelda , elden ring , that or rougelikes . she likes also challenges , and tries to 100% most of stuff she starts

Kanade : Competitive pokemon . i may or may not be projecting . but she gives vibes she would spend hours on showdown matches and know well about sets , movepools and stat spreads and find it actually entertaining

Shizuku : girl i love you so much but you suck at gaming . she'd love animal crossing kind of stuff , or more comedy / calm based games . also somehow is not that affected by horror games at all , MMJ horror stream where everyone is trembling and nervous but shizuku

Haruka : Also not that much into them , she doesnt play that much to know well what she does like , but id think she'd have those quick-game phone games she just plays whenever bored , maybe those merge games ? stuff like crossy road ? i dont think she would play for more than an hour

Rui : The most obscure , complicated and brain-hurting resource management game you have ever seen in your life . Turns out he also has been playing it for multiple years . He has poured his entire soul onto that game and it looks like absolute chaos for anyone , but it actually is the most efficient setup you could have in that game

Ichika : This one's pretty obvious ... Project diva . haves like , all of them . gets to play games that announce collabs with miku but tends to throw them down some time after it if theyre not that exciting . probably goes sometimes to Emu's to play taiko , she does by her own too , but does not have the drum controller ( its probably expensive .. but emu is rich )
