911 Spoilers Season 5: You’ve been warned. 😅 Buddie Rewatch
Episode 3: Desperate Measures
This episode is mostly revolved around Athena and Harry’s kidnapping. One of the darker episodes of the entire series. Very little Buddie moments.
Since it’s been a while since I’ve posted my notes on my rewatch, I think this is the best time for me to reiterate that these notes are heavily centered around Buck and Eddie’s character development as individuals and dissecting why I’ve concluded Buddie should be canon/end game. I may comment on other aspects of the show, but for these types of posts, my focus is on Buddie.
The Autonomous Zone- Buck walking along side Hen, discussing how they can sneak into the zone to help the victim. Hen tells him that she does not sneak anywhere. Buck and Eddie stand close to each other as the leader of the Autonomous Zone explains that they are not needed there.
Chim argues with the woman and that’s when Bobby shows up asking what is going on and why the team is not helping the victim. Buck is the one to explain how the woman “the wannabe mayor” will not let them in. This is when Bobby pushes him self thru, slightly out of character for him, but understandable given the situation with his family.
Hen and Chim examine the victim as Bobby walks away to call in the injuries. Eddie and Buck stand there, give each other a confused look as they process Bobby’s actions. Buck looking towards Bobby and commenting on how awesome his actions where and stating how he isn’t tolerating bs tonight.
The entire 118 learns about Harry’s kidnapping. All surprised by the news.
Back at the station- Buck comments on how Bobby hasn’t moved from his spot. Chim tells Buck to leave Bobby alone, and how they can’t understand his situation. Eddie chimes in giving the same sentiment, even stating that if Chris was in the same situation, he would be losing his mind. Buck stans next to Eddie as this is being said.
Buck asks why was Harry the target, why would this guy target Harry when his mo is targeting women. Hen tells Buck that she’s pretty sure he is targeting a woman, specifically Athena.
Micheal calls Bobby about an emergency. The 118 rush out of the station with sirens on.
The Autonomous Zone – The 118 is in the fire engine, they light up the tunnel they are in, helping Athena catch the monster. They watch as Athena and him exchange words, ending with Athena shooting the monster dead, after he threatens to shoot Bobby.
Abandoned Home – The 118 split up, looking into all the abandon homes, searching for Harry. Buck and Eddie pair off together, Buck slightly ahead, while Eddie follows slightly behind.
Bobby, Athena, Micheal, Hen, and Chim congregate in a random room, Buck and Eddie come in after them, Buck holding a bucket of paint they found in the back, Eddie explaining that they aren’t sure if it means anything. The team starts searching for wet paint on the walls.
Athena finds the wet spot; Bobby instructs Eddie to break down the wall. Eddie moves in quick using an axe he was carrying with him the entire time. Eddie is the one to crawl in with Micheal, releasing Harry and heling him out of the crawl space with Buck’s help, guiding Harry into Athena’s arms.
Power is back on around the city and back at Station 118. Chim comment’s about how Buck, “the power gazar” is out of business. Buck happily stating that he’s happy to no longer oversee the electricity and will gladly give that position back to the electric company. Chim makes a cheeky remark about how Buck was terrible at the job any way. Eddie is standing next to Buck with his arms crossed as this interaction is happening,
Eddie breaks up the moment by asking Hen, how Harry is doing, and she explains he’s doing alright but the situation was obviously traumatizing. Buck comments about how Bobby must be with his family and asks who is in charge during Bobby’s absence, pointing to each person as he asks. Eddie standing next to him, arms still crossed, but his eyes focused on Buck, as Chim states he’s in charge. Hen is quick to question that authority.
Chim starts to walk away from the group, as he explains why he’s in charge. The team walking at a slow pace behind him as they continue to discuss the circumstances. Buck and Eddies are walking side to side and Hen is right behind them. Eddie has his hands in his pockets and lips pursed as Hen and Buck bring up the last things Bobby stated before leaving them. Buck is walking with his finger pointed in the air and states how the shift feels like the longest shift ever. Eddie quickly agreeing with him.
The shift ends, Buck and Eddie are in their civilian clothes in the locker room. Buck comments about how he’s surprised Eddie is still at the station, he expected Eddie to run out as fast as possible so that he could see Christopher. Eddie is slowly putting on his watch, he’s sighing a lot as he explains he’s taking his time leaving the station because he’s trying to figure out how he’s going to break up with Ana.
Buck is visibly surprised by Eddie’s comment. Eddie walks off as Buck stands there, mouth open, processing what was just said.
Buck’s Apartment – Buck walks into his apartment, sighing and places his bag on the dining room chair. He walks up the steps, grabs his tv remote, and throws himself on the bed. Buck is star fished on the middle of the bed as he hears his girlfriend, Taylor Kelly, report about how the five-day city-wide black out is over. He lifts his head up from the bed and states, “Hi honey. I’m home.” He’s directing the statement to the tv, and lays his head back down, breathing heavily as he tries to relax and processes the last 5 days.
This specific moment is one of the moments I feared Taylor Kelly was end game. Buck was obviously at peace and having Taylor be a part of that moment, although she wasn’t physically there, had symbolism to Buck finding his peace with her.
This specific moment could still be a Buddie moment as well. Moment’s prior, Eddie revealed to Buck that he will be taking Buck’s advice breaking up with Ana. Buck was heavily invested into Eddie’s relationship with Ana. Eddie was able to give Buck ease, it was no longer something Buck will be worrying about in the back of his mind. And don’t say Buck wouldn’t worry about Eddie’s relationship, the concern and advice given in the prior episode is proof enough that Buck is heavily involved in Eddie’s relationship. I may want to dissect more of Buck and Eddie’s involvement in each other’s relationship in a future post, I think I could write a proper essay on the topic.
Eddie’s home – Eddie, Chris, and Ana are sitting around the dinning room table. Ana is commenting about how she didn’t think she’d like the dish. Chris looks at ease, enjoying the interaction, but Eddie has his hand near his cheek, he looks unease, he’s contemplating. Ana and Chris are talking, Chris brings up wanting to make brownies and Ana brings up how they need to clean the kitchen first. Eddie is passive aggressive as he tells Ana that she should go home instead. Ana is taken back by the comment, Eddie realizes that was a bit too aggressive and tries to lighten up the comment.
Ana is obviously uncomfortable, but she tries to brush off the comment. At this moment it’s obvious that she knows what Eddie wants to talk about is something she’s been wanting to avoid. She excuses herself into the kitchen to clean up the mess. Eddie follows behind her. Ana is visibly nervous; she’s trying to make herself busy. Eddie is more grounded; he’s trying to get Ana to stop.
Ana is trying to delay the inevitable. She is running around the kitchen, she’s having a one-sided small talk conversation, trying to avoid the conversation, Eddie is trying to have. Eddie repeats her name, again and again, he moves towards her grabbing the dish in her hand and places it back down. He tells her to stop, she’s trying to avoid eye contact.
Ana finally drops the act and is upfront with Eddie. She reveals that she knows that Eddie was having panic attacks at the idea of being in a relationship with her. Eddie tries to play stupid for a moment, but owns up to it when Ana is stern about her observation. He admits to wanting their relationship to work. He enjoys the idea of them together, but that he thought Chris’s love for her would be enough for the relationship to work.
Eddie apologizes, making note that he should have ended the relationship sooner. She agrees with him and apologizes for leaving a mess. She states, “I guess it’s your mess now.” Ana is teary eyed and slowly approaches Eddie, who is arms crossed, leaning against the fridge. His face is stern as she tells him that he’s an amazing father. She touches his arms, gripping it, as if pleading for him to soften, but his arms remain crossed. He doesn’t move as Ana tells him she’s going to say bye to Chris. Eddie’s gaze lowers a bit and softens, ever so slightly. She kisses his cheek as she says goodbye. Eddie softens the most. She leaves the room and speaks to Chris off camera. Eddie is readjusting himself, his eyes a bit glazed.
This break up is the moment I realized Eddie hasn’t been able to be soft and vulnerable with a woman, unless he has no choice but to be. Going back to when Shannon had to corner him at work to have a meaningful conversation. Or when she died and Eddie didn’t know how to be there for her., instead telling her to be quiet. He wasn’t there for Ana during the break up, he was almost disconnected. Eddie didn’t stay in these relationships because he loved them, he stayed as long as he did out of an obligation. Shannon being the fact that he got her pregnant and that she was the mother of his child. With Ana it was for Chris to have a mother figure. At this point Eddie doesn’t know what he wants, but knows what is expected of him, or at least he thinks he does.

What's your opinion on religious influences in Dragon Ball?
There is a lot of Judeo-Christian imagery (white dove, Upa scaring Devilman with a cross, Goku as a Moses-type figure, etc.) I don't like it when Seventh-Day Adventist fearmongers like Little Light Studios call Goku a Lucifer-type figure.
Beerus and Heles look like Egyptian gods
Comment on your thoughts in the reply section and like, share, reblog, and boost. U can do this matter your religion.
Dragon Ball is a mix of different religions †☪︎✡☯☸ૐ⛩️🀀𓋹⚛
I'm not gonna talk about Journey to the West since everyone knows that Dragon Ball was influenced by that story.
Ki comes from Eastern religions. A comparison to make is the Jewish concept of ruach tamah, described by rabbis as similar to ki and as the source as Samson's power
Judeo-Christian imagery. Super Saiyan is similar to the glowing state of Stephen (my interpretation, I'm Christian btw). Goku is a "SON UNDER THE SUN". Goku is also a Moses-type figure, like Superman. A white dove also appears aside of Android 16. That's the symbol of the Holy Spirit. Upa also scares Devilman with a cross. Magic users (with the exception of Baba) are all evil. Baphomet-like demons are always the villains. Goku's values are also Judeo-Christian/Islamic. Dragon Ball has a god hierarchy like Marvel, but Zalama who is above all, just like the One Above All in Marvel, has a similarity to Yahweh of Judaism and Christianity or more like Aether of the Hypsistarian cult.
The Kais relate to the Buddhist Heavenly Kings and Hindu deities. Beerus and Heles take inspiration from Egyptian paganism.
State your opinions and thoughts in the reply section.

Obey me, Themis! [Part 3]
Summary: Things get more intense as more information rises to the surface.
Warnings: Tot Luke gets his shit rock by a demon I’m so sorry my boy.
A/n: Hey part 3 finally! Aside from Shay the rest are random OCs I made up for this story hope ya like em!
Tags: @noetophat how bout I just tag you myself :3
“Who’s Meph….um….istop….heles?” Rosa asks slowly as Diavolo was talking on his DDD.
“A pain in the neck.” You huff. “He’s a school reporter at RAD. I doubt he’ll tell us much willingly. Leave questioning him to me.”
“MC.” Lucifer says in a warning tone.
“I’ll behave!” You retort. Even Rosa and Artem gave you a doubtful look. You’ve barely been around Artem and he was doubting you already! Rude!
“MC are you sure?” Rosa asks.
“Absolutely.” You give her a thumbs up. Dia walks back over at that very moment.
“He should be here soon.” The prince informs. “MC, I heard you’ll be questioning him.”
“Yep- ARE YOU DOUBTING ME TOO?” You gawk at the Prince who only gives a sheepish smile. You cross your arms and pout as Dia doubles down but tries to reason his doubts. Just then Barbatos walks over with the demon of the hour.
“Lord Diavolo what is it you need from me? Oh Lucifer is here yet you called me? I’m honored!” Mephistopheles bows once he’s close to the Prince. Clearly ignoring you and the two attorneys.
“Mephis I actually asked him to call you here.” You spoke up, the purple head turned to you.
“Oh? And do you want?” He asks. You pulled up a picture of the plant Rosa sent you prior and show him.
“What do you know about this? Dia says you heard about some students passing it around at RAD.” You explain. He crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes at you.
“So what if I did?” He retorts. “It’s a plant found here, what’s a human like you need it for?” He scoffs.
“That plant somehow ended up in the human world and it’s already harmed or killed many people.” Rosa spoke up, getting irritated with this guy.
“Ah no wonder you two look so out of place. More humans.” Mephistopheles walked up to Artem and Rosa. “Well that’s too bad.”
“Mephistopheles this is serious.” You grab his forearm and yank him back over. “Whatever you might know will be a huge help.”
“Whatever is happening in the human world isn’t my problem.” He snaps, smacking your hand away. Just when you’re about to pop a vein, Diavolo spoke up.
“It is your problem. It’s all of our problem. That plant came from the Devildom, and whatever damage it causes is on our hands.” The Prince says. “So please. Whatever you might know, tell them.”
Demon and human alike knew that was more of an order rather than a request. Mephistopheles grumbles before turning back to you.
“I don’t know much. But I do know some students were passing it around the school and I happen to over hear one of them say something about ‘getting it to the human world’ or something to that effect. I didn’t think much of it but.” He trails off and glances at the two lawyers.
“Who were these students?” Rosa asks.
The demon took a moment to think before giving some names. “Zek and Crow.”
“Ah those guys.” You groan.
“You know them?” Artem asks.
“Yeah. They use to bug me and my mentor about making pacts with them just so they could have easy access to the human world.” You explain. “But wait, we never made pacts with any of them.”
You turn to Rosa and Artem. “I’d contact the rest of your group if I were you. We need to head back.”
~~~~~
Luke sneaks around an old shack, shoved in a small corner of the city. It’s one of the few places they could find that had held some sort of stash of these weird plants. But it seems it’s been cleared out already.
“There has to be something in here.” He whispers to himself. He moves boxes and old gardening tools around, before finding a small filing cabinet hidden away. Just as he was about to try and open it, something from behind grabs the back of his jacket and throws him away. He hits the wall with a loud SMACK.
“So you’re the one that’s been sneakin around.” A man about his height and looked about his age says, hands in pockets with a smaller framed woman behind him. “Nosy little bugs aren’t ya?”
Luke was about to get up but the man was faster and slams his foot on his back, making him grunt in pain. What was this guy?
“Hey you said you wouldn’t hurt him too bad!” The woman spoke up.
“I won’t I won’t. Just enough to get my point across.” The guy says, smushing the heel of his foot into Luke’s back some more. “Grab that filing cabinet though would ya?”
The woman nods and hurried off into the corner where Luke had found it. Luke tried to get up but was promptly pushed back down by the guy’s foot.
“Be a good human and tell me somethin. How did you find this place?” He asks.
“I have my ways.” Luke said and that result in the guy raising his foot and slamming it hard into his back, knocking the wind out of his lungs.
“I got the flies. Let’s go and leave him alone.” The woman came rushing back and tried to pull the guy off but he shooed her away.
“Not until he talks first. I wanna know how this guy learned about my gig here.” The man says and was about to kick Luke in the ribs until there was noise outside.
One bang on the door.
Two bangs on the door.
Three-CRASH!
“LUKE YOU IN HERE?”
“MC OVER HERE!”
Footsteps came rushing over.
“YOU!”
Green eyes met indigo eyes and you grit your teeth.
“Ah now I see.” Zek, one of the demons that use to bug you and Solomon, gave you a lazy smile. You looked down and found Luke on the ground, Zek’s foot digging into his back.
“Get off of him. NOW.” You order. Zek, ever the shit, just steps off before kicking Luke to the side like an empty soda can. You rush over to his side and that gave Zek and the lady with him enough time to vanish into thin air.
“Friend of yours?” Luke tried to joke through his obvious pain.
“Hardly. How was your first encounter with a demon?” You asked and that cut through the pain judging by the face he makes. You used a bit of healing magic to help Luke to his feet but a hospital visit was still needed. You pick Luke up piggyback style and take him to the car where Artem and Rosa was waiting.
“LUKE!” Rosa gasps as she rushes over, Artem not too far behind.
“I’m fine.” He smiled but was clearly still in pain. Fighting a demon never ended well even if they held back a bit.
“Our suspicions were right. Zek and probably Crow made a pact with humans in the city and brought that plant here.” You explain. With Artem’s help, you both get Luke into the back of the car while Rosa used your DDD to text Diavolo and Lucifer.
“He said something about a gig. This is probably more than just that.” Luke huffs and you lightly poke his forehead.
“We can talk it over once you get checked out.” You state. “I’ll stay behind and give this little box of a shack another look over.”
“But these guys know we’re onto them now.” Rosa says, handing you back your DDD. “Plus what about Marius and Vyn?”
“Relax, Rosy. I’ll be fine and meet up with you guys later. As for the other two, I called a friend or two.”
A friend or two was Shay and Solomon. It was only natural Solomon gets involved and Shay well, she had become a close demon friend outside of the boys and you trusted her with this. Just as you thought that your DDD rings.
“Hello?”
“Hey sugar!”
Speak of the devil, literally. It was Shay. You watch Artem and Rosa drive off to get Luke checked out while you walk around the old shack.
“Hey Shay. How are things on your end?” You asks, having your DDD on speaker and float with magic as you move stuff around.
“Boring so far. By the sounds of it not much else has been found and it looks like no one has a clue that there’s more of us onto their little scheme.” She explains. “How about you?”
“Luke found a shack but got attacked by Zek.” You report.
“That damn Zek! Your friend okay?” Shay asks.
“Yeah we got to him in time. Artem and Rosa are taking him to the hospital now.” You tell her. “Any word from Solomon and Vyn?”
“No. I think those two get along a little too well if you ask me. It’s creepy.” She shivers as she spoke. The two of you talk as you keep looking around the shack, after about 30 minutes you sigh.
“I figured there was nothing left but I’m no less disappointed.” You huff.
“No luck huh?” Shay asks as you take a hold of your DDD and turn off the speaker.
“Nope. I’m gonna go meet up with Rosa. And thanks again for helping out, Shay.” You say.
“No worries, hun! Stay safe now!”
~~~~~~
“Now that they’re onto to us, they’ve no doubt cleared out their other hiding spots.” Rosa mumbled to herself as she looks over what Luke, Marius and Vyn dug up while she and Artem was gone.
“I must’ve gotten there right when he did.” Luke comments from his hospital bed. He wasn’t badly hurt after he was healed with magic but the Doctor wanted him to rest there for the night just to be safe.
“Do we know anything about the woman that was with this Zek?” Artem asks. Luke shakes his head.
“Well once MC comes back, I think we can get an idea on where to look.” Rosa says. You had just walked into the room when she spoke.
“What about lil ol me??” You bat your eyes as you walk over to the three. They catch you up to speed and all you can do is scowl.
“I can unfortunately give you an idea on where to start looking. RAD has a whole class on how demons can lure humans into a pact with them. Since Zek and Crow are RAD students it probably wasn’t hard to find targets for whatever the hell they’re planning.” You explain, arms crossed as you began to think. Although after this they might end up as ex students.
“Or we can just tell you now.”
You turn around and look at the door, finding Solomon and Vyn walking in.
“Shay called me and filled us in, told me you’d all be here.” Solomon says. Vyn types at his phone before all of your phones chime.
“Luke, does this woman look like the one you saw?” Vyn asks. Luke looks over the picture he was sent for awhile before he nods. “She’s a patient of mine.”
“And the plot thickens.” You hum and lean against the wall.
“Her name is Maya Row, she came to see me just to talk and find the root of her problems. She suddenly stopped a few months ago.” Vyn explained. “I tried to call her a few times but she never answered.”
“Sounds like we found out why she stopped seeing you.” You comment. “A patient for a Psychiatrist definitely sounds like it fits the bill for a pact by a demon’s standards.
“Given she wasn’t in the best place of a mind the last time I spoke with her I’d have to agree.” Vyn sighs.
“Poor Maya…” Rosa frowned as she reads over the flies Vyn sent everyone.
“We find her we can find Zek.” You spoke up. Solomon holds his hand up to you, his way of saying to back down.
“While that’s true there’s still Crow and whoever he may have lured into a pact.” He points out. Ah right.
~~~~~
“So Zek and his human Maya huh?” Marius hummed as he reads over what Shay sent him. He was stuck in meetings most the day so Shay filled him in.
“We still don’t know where Crow is or who he may have made a pact with.” Shay says. “So get used to having me around.
“Oh how will I ever cope?” Marius teased and Shay sticks her tongue out at him. Just then she jolts before grabbing Marius and jumping to the left, a stop sign landing where they were, crushing into the sidewalk.
“Ah did you really have to go and dodge that, Shay?” A voice spoke up. Shay looks and finds a man yanking the stop sign out of the ground and looks over at her and Marius. Yellow and black mixed eyes stare into her own icy blue ones.
“Crow.” She hisses and helps Marius up. Crow spins the stop sign around a few times, eyes never moving off the pair.
“You know Shay it’s not too late for you leave and let me have a little chat with the human here.” Crow suggests only for his fellow demon to flip him off.
“You know as well as I do what you’re doing goes against what Lord Diavolo wants for the Realms, Crow.” Shay retorts, glancing at Marius who was hiding his phone in his hand. Gotta by him some time to inform the others.
“Blah blah blah. Get off your soap box, Shay. I don’t care.” Crow groans, stepping closer which made Shay move Marius closer behind her. “Why are you even protecting him? You made a pact or somethin?”
“No. Is it so wrong of me to want to keep him away from you and your stop sign?” Shay sassed at him. Marius hits send on his phone and hides it away in his pocket.
“If he starts a fight, I want you to run, understand? A human like you isn’t gonna put up a fight very long.” Shay whispers, still shielding Marius from Crow who hasn’t stopped eyeing him.
“Got it. You don’t have to worry about me.” Marius nods.
You were talking when all the phones of the NXX group chimed at the same time. Rosa was the first one to get her phone out and check.
“Uh oh!” She gasps and goes pale. All she does is show her screen to everyone.
Fjerde uge i New Zealand
Sidst vi skrev, var vi på hostel i ly for stormen. Vi havde planer om at sejle kayak, gå tur og sove i telt i Franz Josef, men vi fik desværre røg nogle af de planer i vasken. Stormen havde lagt sig lørdag morgen, men der var et tykt lag skyer på bjergene, som fuldstændigt blokkerede udsigten til gletsjeren. Derfor blev vandreturen med gletsjer udsigt altså skrottet. Vi fik dog sejlet kayak, og endda helt gratis, da en af mine venner fra Brisbane er flyttet til Franz Josef som kayakguide. Hun kunne lige stjæle tre kayaker, og vise os rundt på søen ved Franz Josef. Det var virkelig hyggeligt at mødes med hende, og ret sjovt at sejle kayak sammen.
Efter vi havde sejlet kayak, og vejret stadig ikke så ud som at det ville klare op, valgte vi at køre videre fra Franz Josef. Vi kørte derfor hele vejen fra vestkysten op til Hanmer Springs. Dette er en lille by i bjergene, der er opstået pga. varmekilder. Vi skulle altså have os en rigtig slapper dag, så søndag vågnede vi tidligt, og gjorde klar til at komme i Hanmer Springs hot pools. Vi fik prøvet en masse forskellige termiskebade, og Mikkel fik endda 30 minutter i privat sauna. Han var en glad og lidt tåget dreng, da han kom ud igen. Efter vi havde brugt ca. 3 timer i "badelandet", kørte vi videre helt rene og afslappede.
Vi kørte her fra bjergene til østkysten, hvor vi skulle til strandbyen Kaikoura. Denne by var blevet anbefalet til os, da de har hvaler året rundt. Vi skulle derfor på hvalsafari, hvilket Mikkel aldrig havde prøvet før. Og det blev virkelig en succes! Vi kom på en tidlig tur, kl 8:00, så vi skulle igen tidligt op. Det tager lidt tid at pakke telt, soveposer osv. sammen... Den store stjerne på turen var kaskelothvalen. Der er unge han kaskelothvaler i Kaikouras hav året rundt, da de skal vokse sig store, før de kan komme ud i det åbne hav, og vise sig an. Derfor kan de altså have hvalsafari året rundt i byen. Dog var det ikke denne hval der blev stjernen for vores tur. Vi var nemlig heldige nok, til at komme tæt på en kæmpe flok grindehvaler. Disse kommer kun ca. hvert femte år til byen for at yngle. Og nøj hvor var der mange! Og de hoppede og stikkede deres hoveder op af vandet, og var bare helt vildt skønne at kigge på. Kæmpe fans! Udover hvaler, fik vi da også spottet et par delfiner og albatroser. Albatroserne gjorde også virkelig stort indtryk på os. De er jo seriøst vanvittigt store. Vi kunne slet ikke forstå det. De ligner jo bare en gigantisk måge. Ret vildt.
Kaikoura var vores sidste destination på sydøen, og dagen efter vi havde set hvaler, skulle vi altså med færgen nordpå. Her sejlede vi en 3,5 timers færgetur med verdens dårligeste wifi. Dette betød dog, at vi fik lov til at lave ingenting i 3,5 timer, hvilket viste sig næsten ikke at være nok tid. Det var ret rart at sidde og stene i så lang tid, uden at skulle tænke på, hvor vi skulle sove eller hvad vi skulle se de næste steder. Vi ankom med færgen i Wellington, og her besøgte vi Mt Victoria, da der er filmet lidt Ringenes Herre her. Efter vi havde set det, kørte vi videre til et campingsted for at overnatte. Dagen efter blev brugt på mere Ringenes Herre sightseeing, og derefter kørte vi til Tongariro.
Her skulle vi overnatte og igen tidligt op, da vi dagen efter skulle gå the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Vores sidste lange vandretur. Det blev til lige under 22 km og ca. 1000 højdemeter i et meget gold vulkan landskab. Det var så fedt, at gå i noget helt anderledes end vi før har gjort. Og på turen fik vi både set varmekilder, gejsere, kratere og store søer. Det var sådan en flot tur! Vi fik endda udsigt til Lake Taupo, hvor vi skulle bruge vores næste dag.
Også kommer vi til i dag, hvor vi har sovet i Taupo. Om morgenen gik vi ned til en flod, som lå lige ved siden af vores campingplads, som btw var gratis! Den var så smuk, og det var så rart at få skyllet sig igen. Som i måske kan gætte jer til, bliver man lidt klam af at sove i sovepose hver nat uden at vaske sig særligt meget... Efter svømmeturen pakkede vi sammen, og nu skal vi planlægge de sidste dage på turen. Vi har bilen indtil d 29., så vi har ikke mange dage tilbage, inden vi skal se Auckland. Vi skal dog lige forbi Rotorua og prøve at mountainbike og selvfølgelig til Hobbitton og se the Shire!
joke
Zeno murmured something, and I blinked, abandoning my racing thoughts and returning my attention to him. “What?”
“I said, we could get married.”
The absurd desire to laugh nearly overcame me. He was about to speak again, but I shook my hand between us, cutting him off. “I appreciate you trying to make a joke, but is this really the time?”
His expression contorted to an almost-grimace before it shifted into a small smile. Then, he shrugged. “Sorry.” I scrubbed my hand roughly over my face, leaning forward, slightly away from him. “It is an idea, though.”
“Us getting married?”
“Yeah.”
I sniffed a quiet laugh, despite everything. “Please, we’d be miserable.”
jump
The door to [the captain]'s quarters was right up against the railing, with just the riggings swaying between me at the oar-churned ocean below. I stopped, looking into the water, my hand absently fingering the shard in my pocket as my gaze traced patterns in sea foam lining the choppy waves. I could jump. The oars might catch me. Or they might sweep me under, their turbulence keeping me below the surface until I was out of air.
Heart stammering, I stumbled away from the railing until my back pressed into the wall. Did I actually wish for death? Or did I just want this to be over?
Freedom. That’s all I wanted. Basate promised that; I could hold out until then. I could…
I would.
brown
It was strange. Being here. New experiences—not that I had a lot of practice with them, mind—always were strange. She sat across from me, crossing her feet beneath her and clasping her hands together in her lap.
“What was your name, again?”
“Solera,” she said, her grin bright white against her russet-brown features. My eyes dropped to the dimples indenting her faintly freckled cheeks. “And, I know coming here, leaving your family, it’s a bit much to take in.” I met her gaze again. “If there’s anything I can do to help you adjust, or settle, just let me know?”
I returned her smile, however faintly, and nodded.
bug beetle
A tiny armored beetle skittered over the marble steps by my fingers, deftly avoiding them in its hurry.
Could I have done anything to help? Would the sound of Osmari’s pleas ever stop ringing in my head?
“Stay back,” a calm voice said, drawing near. “I’ll talk to her.”
Geros. No longer the Diamo, to me.
Solera was right. He was just another man who had done nothing to deserve my respect.
The beetle had made it past my hand now, scurrying over the sun-warmed marble toward the shade of the pavilion until it was crushed under Geros’ sandal as he made his way to me. He hunkered beside me, his hand rubbing false comfort between my shoulders.
“It’s disturbing, isn’t it. The lengths my children force me to go.”
book
“Be still, and accept the blessing of the gods,” he said, stepping nearer to them and laying his hand on each of their heads. When he spoke again, it was almost song-like. A chant, of sorts. In the old tongue. I knew very little of it. Just a few words. Curse words, to tell the truth. Zeno, Ismi, and I had found an old book of it in the attic of their home years ago, and that had been all we had been able to look for before Hele called us down for lunch.
His voice resonated throughout the latridom, even after his chant had stopped.
He lifted his hands, staggering back a step. As if he had been possessed by the gods themselves and they had suddenly left him.
“You are now one.”
I'll tag....... @pinespittinink @flowerprose @daisywords @ashen-crest @isherwoodj and @nectargrapes (as always, no pressure!)
your words will be: purpose, plain, peer, pressure, and pain
DBZ but it’s Arc by Arc after running through the Kanzenshuu’s archive for interviews, but Cell Games Gohan was pretty cracked in hindsight
(Note: Pui Pui is the only weird one to place anywhere)
DBS Manga except it’s not Arc by Arc mostly because extra information from Interviews and the like curves the scale, with the term tough not relating 1:1 to strength in DB as simply having magic contributes to it
(Note: Toriyama claims “not even Broly” could beat a hypothetically complete Cell Max, but Broly is recently being hidden from Freeza, so that should tell you all you need to know compared to Beast Gohan since they’re not on the list)
Still DBS albeit way more cross-referential than before for Destroyers, but it’s worth noting Heles may be able to use the Pretty Black Hole (anime) as she is able to give exposition on it and vibes with the Power of Love
Edit: This was privated for a bit because I was remembering Goku’s reentrance in the Moro Saga, and thinking over the scaling there, but considering 17 & 18 could help but they’re supposed to be weaker than Gohan by then… Safe!
#ooc#outofgata#captain speaking#the narrative for gohan during the top and gokus surprise use of kaioken basically cucks kefla and supports statements made by the cast#the dbs anime is way harder to scale due to having multiple points of contention when it comes to saiyan power and growth rates#like some believe kefla is weaker than standard ssb vegeta due to the final flash...that needs to be fully charged...for free#also dabura and ss2 student gohan should be switched but that’s about it
Tórshavn - Hirtshals - Lønstrup - Hjortdal
Zondag 9 - Dinsdag 11 juni
De eerste nacht op de boot was zeker in het begin behoorlijk heftig. Gelukkig viel ik uiteindelijk wel lekker in slaap en heb ik de paar korte nachten in mijn tent in kunnen halen.
Ik heb op de boot lunch buffet en diner buffet erbij geboekt dus dat is makkelijk! Wanneer ik het dek op wandel zie ik Samet al zitten. Laura blijkt zeeziek te zijn geworden en ligt op bed. We kletsen nog even voor ik ga lunchen.
Inmiddels schijnt de zon weer volop en is het op het open dek heerlijk. Niet zo koud als op de heenweg.
De lunch valt behoorlijk tegen, geen aanrader voor de volgende keer. Tijdens het lunchen kom ik Tur en Toon tegen en ga ik gezellig bij hun zitten. Ook Urte komt nog even erbij zitten. Grappig, dat ik zo tijdens het reizen allerlei mensen heb ontmoet en ze nu weer tegenkom op de boot.
In de middag lees ik nog een boekje in de loungeruimte uit de ruil bibliotheek. Er staan hier ook Nederlandse boeken tussen die mensen hier achter gelaten hebben. Ik vind een toepasselijke titel 'Zadelpijn en ander damesleed' 😆.
Het dinerbuffet is daarentegen wel goed. Urte eet gezellig mee. Na het eten koop ik in de shop nog wollen sokken voor thuis en twee bolletjes wol...ik heb de ambitie ze zelf te gaan maken 🤣...ben benieuwd of het ooit zal lukken 😉.
In de shop kom ik ook Bas en Sanna tegen uit Nederland. Ook nu raak ik aan de praat. Een leuk jong stel die naar familie op de Faeröer Eilanden zijn geweest. Sauna haar moeder komt er vandaan. Ze hebben afgelopen zondag nog de halve marathon gelopen die in Tórshavn werd gehouden. Bas blijkt automonteur en ik leg hen uiteraard mijn probleem voor. Hij denkt ook dat ik er nog wel mee kan rijden e dat ik vooral de temperatuur van de olie in de gaten moet houden. Nou als een automonteur het zegt voel ik mij al een stuk geruster 😀.
De tweede nacht is rustiger en ik slaap veel beter. De volgende ochtend word ik door de omroeper van de boot om half zeven gewekt. Ik neem een douche, pak mijn spullen en drink nog een kop koffie voor ik rond half tien (Faeröer Eilanden tijd) van boord mag.
Met Samet, Laura en Urte stop ik nog even bij de bakker en ontbijten we gezellig voor we elkaar gedag zeggen.
Ik wil in de buurt nog gaan wandelen maar ik rij nog maar net weg of hoor al weer iets anders aanlopen in mijn auto...het zal toch niet. Een paar meter verderop zit gelukkig een garage en ik wordt er tien minuten later al geholpen. De monteur rijdt met de auto en geeft aan wanneer hij terugkomt dat de auto wat lang heeft stilgestaan en met de regen van afgelopen weken roesten de remmen een beetje vast. Niks ergs, want na even rijden is het geluid al weer weg. Ik vraag hen nu ik er toch ben ook maar even naar mijn eerder auto probleem. Ook hij zegt dat ik er mee kan rijden naar huis. Inmiddels zeggen zoveel mensen dit die ik heb gesproken dat ik er wel vertrouwen in heb, maar...fingers crossed tot ik echt thuis ben 🤞🏻.
Ik rij richting Lønstrup, een plaatsje waar ik in juni 2021 ook ben geweest toen ik nog maar net onderweg was tijdens mijn sabbatical.
Ik start hier met een korte wandeling over het kustpad. Erg leuk en anders dan de vorige keer, toen ben ik niet aan de noordzijde van het dorpje geweest.
Na deze korte wandeling besluit ik er nog een stukje aan vast te plakken en wandel ook nog zuidwaarts naar de Rubjerg Knude Fyr, kortgezegd: de vuurtoren. Hier ben ik wel al eerder geweest, maar ook niet via de wandelroute die ik nu neem.
Via een mooi duinpad loop ik langs de kliffen. Je ziet dat de kliffen, of eigenlijk de duinen, door zware stormen het veel te verduren hebben gehad. Hele grote stukken zijn weggeslagen en ik word gewaarschuwd niet te dicht bij de rand te wandelen.
De vuurtoren staat er nog net zo statig bij als twee jaar geleden 😆.
Het uitzicht er rondom en vanaf de toren is ook weer tof!
Uiteindelijk wandel ik tegen 16.00uur weer terug naar het dorp. Daar trakteer ik mezelf op een ijsje en bedenk ik een plan voor morgen. Ik heb een stuk zuidelijker een leuke fietsroute gezien. Morgenochtend wordt het nog lekker weer in de middag gaat het hard waaien. Ik hoop in de ochtend dan nog een rondje te kunnen fietsen.
De rest van de week wordt het dacht ik hier minder lekker, dus ik denk dat ik dan zo langzaamaan weer naar huis ga rijden. Iets eerder thuis dan de bedoeling. Mijn werk heb ik geappt of ik een weekje eerder weer kan starten en dat was geen probleem gelukkig!
In de avond sta ik op een leuke plek aan de rand van een natuurgebied en vlakbij mijn fietsroute van morgen. Er staat nog een Frans stel naast me, prima!
Wolverine: de Greg Rucka periode
Af en toe vind ik het al eens tof om gewoon eens door een oudere reeks comics te scrollen. Afgelopen week was dat het geval met de Wolverine serie van Juniorpress. De pakweg eerste 30 deeltjes kon ik me allemaal nog goed herinneren. Maar van de latere delen was ik eerlijk gezegd best veel vergeten. Zo botste ik bij nummer 75 op de start van de Greg Rucka run. 👉
In de VS betekende dit de herstart van Wolverine, met een nieuwe nummer 1. Bij Juniorpress ging de originele nummering gewoon door. Toch was het toen best een frisse wind die door de reeks ging. Marvel probeerde in die periode (2003) vanalles uit om nieuwe fans naar de comics te lokken. Daarvoor trokken ze schrijvers van Vertigo en de indie comics aan. Zo ook Greg Rucka dus.
Realistische aanpak
Die ging voor een meer realistische aanpak. Geen Wolverine in kostuum. Geen (of nauwelijks) superhelden. Gewoon rauwe, realistische misdaadverhalen. Onze held wordt zelfs niet als 'Wolverine' aangesproken, enkel als 'Logan'. Ik ben zelf wel fan van deze versie. Het voelt een beetje als een HBO dramareeks, eerder dan een superhelden comic. En dat is prima.
Rauw tekenwerk
Het tekenwerk is van Darick Robertson, bekend van Transmetropolitan. Hoewel zijn rauwe stijl goed bij het verhaal past, vind ik het in deze comics net wat té ruw. Ok, Logan is geen standaard mens, maar hier ziet hij er vaak meer uit als een soort trol. Het contrast met de covers is ook groot. Dat zijn prachtig geschilderde tekeningen van Esad Ribic waar Wolvie meer lijkt op een verfijnde versie van Hugh Jackman.
In de tweede verhaallijn werd het tekenwerk van zowel de covers als de comic zelf overgenomen door Leandro Fernandez.
Drieluik
De eerste verhaallijn van Rucka lees je in Wolverine 75 tot 77, met daarin de Amerikaanse delen 1 tot 5. Ook het tweede verhaal, 'Coyote Crossing', volgde in Wolverine 78 tot 80.
Jammer genoeg besloot Juniorpress toen om het derde deel over te slaan en meteen in te pikken bij de nieuwe verhalen van schrijver Mark Millar. Ook een fijne periode, maar iets hééélemaal anders. Daarover schrijf ik binnenkort nog wel eens een aparte post. 😉
Maar voor de Nederlandstalige lezers was het destijds dus niet zo fijn om het slot van Greg Rucka's run niet te kunnen lezen. Zeker omdat er hier een confrontatie met aartsvijand Sabretooth op het programma staat.
Gelukkig werd 'Return of the Native' járen later alsnog vertaald en opgenomen in de 'Duistere Kant' collectie van Panini voor Carrefour. Daarin lees je dus de Nederlandstalige versie van de Amerikaanse Wolverine 13 tot 19 en het slot van de Greg Rucka periode.
Checklist
Broederschap: Wolverine 75, 76, 77 (Juniorpress, 2003)
Coyote Crossing: Wolverine 78, 79, 80 (Juniorpress, 2004)
Terugkeer van Native: Duistere Kant Collectie 10 (Panini, 2022)
Deze hele run is warm aanbevolen voor wie eens een andere Wolverine wil lezen! 🙌
I know it wasn't really a question but you brought it up yesterday so I reread Bzzt! (o7) and Siete and Yngwie don't directly interact in that event either
Siete shows up in the first chapter in a flashback where he steamrolls the twins into going to the beach with him by weaponizing the kids which is honestly such a hilariously dick move and then only the final part of the 6th chapter, the very last one, where he at least helps out by defeating the eals and is even an ally in the final story battle before getting bullied in the ending for being a no-show
Meanwhile Yngwie runs into the former girlfriend of the leader of the bad guys of this event who saw Heles and decided that he must make her his which, mood, except his girlfriend wasn't too happy about that so he kicked her out and literally three seconds later she literally falls into Yngwie's arms and he immediately decides to treat her right. Good for her
It's such a funny event though
omg thank you for checking!!
and .... no way.
Siete you're a trainwreck of a person how could you do that to the twins and then not even show up until you come in, late, with a coffee you just bought?
and oh my godddd. I can't blame the guy for giving up everything for Heles because, yeah, mood, though he's a dick about it. But Yngwie being a gentleman over here..... definitely understanding why he has as much charm and ladies as he does huh. that'd work on me too
so glad you had fun!!! at least it was a nice reread ahah
and thanks for the helpful lore of "did those two ever met". tho at this point it's suspicious how many times they appear in the same event and arts and don't cross path. I think granblue is withholding informations from us.
D - A tale of two worlds / Michel Faber
Op een dag zijn opeens alle letters d verdwenen. Mensen praten alsof de letter er nooit is geweest en lijken daar helemaal geen erg in te hebben. De enige die het opvalt is Dhikilo. In haar oude -- hele oude -- geschiedenisleraar en zijn blindengeleidehond vindt Dhikilo medestanders; de professor weet waar de d's naartoe zijn. En misschien is Dhikilo dapper en sterk genoeg om ze weer terug te krijgen.
With twenty-six letters in the alphabet you'd think that losing one of them wouldn't be so bad, but it was very bad indeed (or very ba inee, as everyone around her would put it). Dhikilo had to sit at a esk and pay attention to what was written on a boar, she had to put up her han when she knew the answer ('Yes, Hikilo?'), she was cautioned by Mr Dawkins (who was now Mr Awkins) that a science experiment was angerous, she was supposed to tell the ifference between poetry and oggerel, and she was expected to evelop a eeper unerstaning of natural isasters. She handed in a piece of writing to Miss Forrester, and Miss Forester shook her head and said, 'Honestly, Hikiko, your spelling…!' and proceeded to cross out every D with her red felt-tip pen, until Dhikilo's little essay looked as if it had been used for cutting up strawberries on.
Het is een 'D' boek -- no pun intended; ik zou eerder denken dat het een 'C' boek is, want ondanks de vrij complexe taal zijn het verhaal en de hoofdpersoon voor een iets jongere leeftijdsgroep. Het verhaal was leuk om te lezen, maar de relatief gemakkelijke ontknoping zonder uitleg over oorzaken of achtergronden was issapointing.
6-7 Stamford Bridge
Gisterenavond naar de pub bij de camping gelopen, sorry we are fully booked. Die heb ik nog niet eerder meegemaakt. Was ik nu maar gaan fietsen, dan had ik meer opties gehad! Via google vind ik de Piebald Inn, een beetje vreemde naam, maar je kunt er eten. Als ik daar aankom: heeft u gereserveerd? Als ik nee zeg, wordt er vreselijk gepuzzeld en geschoven en ik krijg ik een plekje in één van de eetzalen. Helemaal afgeladen met liefhebbers van de goede Engelse pie. Want daar gaat het hier om, ze hebben 52 verschillende varianten. Met vis, met vlees, met nieren en pens en zelfs vegetarisch. Bij de bar hangt een groot bord waarop staat hoeveel exemplaren van elke pie nog beschikbaar zijn. Ik ga voor de geit, er zijn er nog maar 2, dus die moet wel goed zijn. Er komen chips en erwten bij (uiteraard). Ik zak lekker weg in mijn hoekje met een pint en schrijf mijn verhaal van de dag af. En inderdaad, een enorm stuk pie, vette jus en dikke patatten met groene doperwtjes. Toe neem ik sponge cake met aardbeienjam en custardsaus.
En ik had een plan, ik moest over twee dagen in Churchill’s Hotel in Wombwell zijn. Daar heb ik een kamer geboekt. Dat is nog 180 kilometer, maar overwegend vlak, dus dat gaat lukken. Ik probeerde ook nog de camping voor morgen te verifiëren, maar ze zijn continu in gesprek. Nou ja, dan bestaat het nummer in elk geval nog.
Waarom Wombwell? Omdat ik van daaruit de Pennines in hapklare brokken kan oversteken. Je moet namelijk twee keer naar 500 meter klimmen over gravelpaden en nu kan ik het zo indelen dat ik niet beide pieken op één dag hoef te doen. En dan nog, ik word gewaarschuwd dat je die pieken moet beschouwen als “Alpine crossings”, dus niet doen bij mist, sneeuw, onweer en harde wind. Dat belooft wat!
Wat me de afgelopen dagen ook opgevallen is, is dat de Engelsen echte hondenliefhebbers zijn. Die oude spoorlijntjes worden ook als wandelpad gebruikt en je moet voortdurend afremmen voor mensen die keurig gecoiffeerde honden uitlaten, allemaal even goed gemanierd. Die komen meteen als het baasje roept en wachten keurig in de berm tot ik voorbij ben. Ik zeg dan altijd vriendelijk gedag en dankjewel. De meeste mensen knikken me dan vriendelijk toe, op de enkeling na die vindt dat fietsers hier niet thuis horen.
Ik werd gisterenavond om 11 uur wakker, er liep een hele groep lachende en pratende mannen voorbij. Ik dacht nog, de pub is zeker net dicht gegaan, maar even later brak er een hels kabaal los. Het bleken spoorwegarbeiders die in de nachtelijke uren de rails kwamen verwijderen. Daarbij wordt met mokers op ijzeren spoorstaven geslagen en met een soort gemotoriseerde schroefmachines worden de bouten los gedraaid. Ik moet zeggen dat ze wel doorwerkten want in de loop van de nacht verwijderden ze zich steeds meer van de camping.
Het is een totaal ander landschap vandaag, grote heuvels met uitgestrekte akkers. Er staat een vlagerige koude wind tegen. Nadat ik weer eens mijn fiets naar boven geduwd heb en met bonzend hart sta te wachten tot mijn ademhaling weer een beetje gekalmeerd is, besluit ik tot een ernstig gesprek met mezelf. Waar zijn wij eigenlijk mee bezig, mijnheer Hoving? Dit is nog lang niet het zwaarste deel van de route en je komt nu al kracht en conditie tekort. Komt daarbovenop nog eens het besef dat ik een dag achterloop in mijn hoofd en vanavond al in Churchill’s Hotel verwacht wordt in olaats van morgenavond en dat is nog 120 kilometer hiervandaan.
Tijd voor pas op de plaats. Ik ga naar de camping van Stamford Bridge vlak bij York. Daar krijg ik een prachtige plek aan een vijver op een enorm grasveld.
En ik sla aan het rekenen. Zelfs met een betere conditie wordt het hard werken om op tijd in Harwich te komen als ik eerst naar Southampton wil. Dus ik maak een nieuw plan. Optie 1: kortere dagafstanden en langer wegblijven is niet mogelijk. Ik heb ook maar vier weken vakantie. Optie 2: ik zoek de route van de LF1 op, die gaat van Hull naar Harwich en die is een stuk minder inspannend. Dat lijkt me de beste keue. Morgen naar York om te proberen een gids van die route te krijgen en dan overmorgen op pad. Kan ik intussen nog een beetje bijkomen van de afgelopen twee dagen.
Het is wel een teleurstelling, maar ik merk dat dit plan toch wat te hoog gegrepen was.
Gefietste afstand: 62
Tijd: 5 uur
1 Chronicles 11: 26-47. "City of Preeminence."
There are 37 Warriors and the Gematria for 37 is Parsha Shlach, the Dignitaries. Within Shlach is the perfect recipe for the perfect town God wants David to establish using the might of his 37 Warriors:
Exploring Canaan- The Place of Royalty
13 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders.”
->Israelites are the noble qualities of mankind. Out of slavery to one's parents' ways of life, reverence of a violent human history, out of immaturity, far away from all of one's flawed judgements, on the other side of Sinai they yield up Paran, the "ornamental man":
3 So at the Lord’s command Moses sent them out from the Desert of Paran "dry of violence, rife with beauty." All of them were leaders of the Israelites. 4 These are their names:
from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua [desolation] son of Zakkur [mindfulness];
Leadership and mindfulness overcome carelessness.
5 from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat [the governor] son of Hori [authority].
From the Law comes government and authority.
6 from the tribe of Judah, Caleb [dog] son of Jephunneh [to turn the corner];
Honor turns the dog into a man.
7 from the tribe of Issachar , Igal son of Joseph;
Friendship redeems defamation and makes men fruitful.
8 from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea [salvation] son of Nun [faith];
Prosperity and salvation are the provinces of those faithful to these torahs.
9 from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti [delivers] son of Raphu [heals];
Righteousness delivers and heals.
10 from the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel [fortune] son of Sodi [council];
Cities of honor are governed by talented councils.
11 from the tribe of Manasseh (a tribe of Joseph), Gaddi [fortune] son of Susi [swiftly];
Abandon flawed practices of the past and ride to fortune swiftly.
12 from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel [kinsman] son of Gemalli [passes over];
Good Judgement is akin to passing over [the mountain].
13 from the tribe of Asher, Sethur [passed over] son of Michael;
Happiness from passing over is a gift of God.
14 from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi [spokesperson] son of Vophsi [yah's abundance];
Governors must be outspoken about injustice.
15 from the tribe of Gad, Geuel [who flowers] son of Maki [passed over, flowers].
Civilization flowers when men cross over.
16 These are the names of the men Moses sent to explore the land. (Moses gave Hoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.)
17 When Moses sent them to explore Canaan, he said, “Go up through the Negev "dry, rolling hills] and on into the hill country. 18 See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many. 19 What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified? 20 How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees in it or not? Do your best to bring back some of the fruit of the land.” (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)
-> do places free of violence, populated by men of stature exist? How do they do it? We need to figure this out.
26 The mighty warriors were:
Asahel the brother of Joab,
Made by God, whose father is God
Elhanan son of Dodo from Bethlehem,
God has been gracious, what is lovely and gracious comes from the House of Israel, always has.
27 Shammoth the Harorite,
The abandoned mountain dweller,
Helez the Pelonite,
A certain one who is praising
28 Ira son of Ikkesh from Tekoa,
The roused wild ass who pushes for the trumpet blast
Abiezer from Anathoth,
The supreme help with answers and afflictions
29 Sibbekai the Hushathite,
the Lord sustains, reverent of God hastens, rides their emotions like chaff on the wind
Ilai the Ahohite,
Determination, the Voice of Brotherhood
30 Maharai the Netophathite,
Swift, skilled, the price of a wife, drops of jewelry
Heled son of Baanah the Netophathite,
Noun חלד (heled) refers to the acts and deeds that sum up one's life on earth, or indeed the whole spectrum of human life: the world.
+ to respond to now.
31 Ithai son of Ribai from Gibeah in Benjamin,
The Companionableness of Yah, strife, the bare hill of the Right Hand [of God's Kindness]
Benaiah the Pirathonite,
What God has built, the Confederation
פרע
The verb פרע (para') means to bundle without restriction. It may refer to the formation of a tribal confederacy (i.e. a freely joined alliance that benefits all participants), which might come about either spontaneous or via a human catalyst, who would then be known by the noun פרע (pera'). For lack of a better word, this noun is commonly translated with "leader" but it rather denotes someone who emphasizes voluntary participation and preserved autonomy rather than submission to some higher authority.
32 Hurai from the ravines of Gaash, clout will thrust away
חרר
The root חרר (harar) describes a society's central and enclosed source of heat. It thus may express a geographical depression, but more so a being hot and ultimately a being a ruler (whether by might, political clout or wisdom).
Verb חרר (harar I) means to be hot, burned or charred. Noun חרר (harer) denotes a parched place and noun חרחר (harhur) describes a violent heat or fever. The unused verb חרר (harar II) means to be free in cognate languages, which is the opposite of being a slave. Noun חר (hor) means noble or nobleman.
Abiel the Arbathite,
Father of strength, all that pleases
Verb ערב ('arab III) means to be pleasing in the sense of rewarding or satisfying. Adjective ערב ('areb) means pleasing in that same sense.
33 Azmaveth the Baharumite,
Strong as death, the chosen people,
בחר
The verb בחר (bahar) means to choose in the sense of to select by preference. That means that any "chosen" people are not the patsies of a sadistic deity but simply the best performing players in the public court of the open market. Obviously, such a high score in a truly open and free market requires great practical wisdom and recognizable virtue.
Eliahba the Shaalbonite,
to hide from death, take the road between vineyards,
34 the sons of Hashem the Gizonite,
The sons of the Name, the Gushers
Jonathan son of Shagee the Hararite,
Talented but wandering, the mountaineer
35 Ahiam son of Sakar the Hararite,
Brother of the Economic Node, which makes one merry,
Eliphal son of Ur,
Discernment, son of the Light,
פלל
Root פלל (palal) is all about distinguishing and discerning, and often emphasizes representation of something unseen or not present. It's frequently used in the sense of to entreat or pray on someone's behalf.
אור
The verb אור ('or) means to be light or to give light; to shine.
36 Hepher the Mekerathite,
To expose what is wanted and delete what is unwanted, he who digs out.
Ahijah the Pelonite,
Brother of Yah, discern what is unseen,
37 Hezro the Carmelite,
Cluster the orchard
חצר
The verb חצר (hasar) relates to the first visual manifestations of a gathering or emergence of some sort: to begin to cluster or gather or emerge.
Naarai son of Ezbai,
Child of Yah, son of soap,
אזב
The unused verb אזב ('azab) probably described a scrubbing motion. The derived noun אזוב ('ezob) is usually transliterated as hyssop, which originally described a sort of plant but later became synonymous with soap.
The invention (or discovery) of soap marked a milestone in humanity's collective maturation. It was quickly recognized as a true gift from heaven, which washed away disease and filth as by miracle, and was subsequently thoroughly incorporated in Biblical theology.
38 Joel the brother of Nathan,
God is Present, bestowing something new,
Mibhar son of Hagri,
The best, the choicest, causing awe,
39 Zelek the Ammonite,
To Cleave to one's kinsman, the disciples,
Naharai the Berothite, the armor-bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah,
Vigorous heating of my wells, whose father is the Lord, son of the Rock of Yah, the Balsam of Yah,
40 Ira the Ithrite,
The City of Preeminence
Noun עיר ('ir) is the Bible's common word for city, which constitutes an accumulation of people and goods, usually in the middle of a wide area without remaining trees.
Gareb the Ithrite,
The Farmer of the Field of Preeminence,
41 Uriah the Hittite,
Light of the Lord, let it shine, let it be taken up as light from the coals,
Zabad son of Ahlai,
To give a gift, my desire for Yah's sake,
42 Adina son of Shiza the Reubenite, who was chief of the Reubenites, and the thirty with him,
Through their hearing, understanding and obeying, Yah lives in the Signet, tears down and rebuilds,
45 Jediael son of Shimri,
What is known of God, is familiar
his brother Joha the Tizite, keep watch over,
What is known, remember and keep watch over,
46 Eliel the Mahavite,
El is God in the places of assembly
Jeribai and Joshaviah the sons of Elnaam,
Yah contends with those who are skilled, who are delightful and sweet,
Een tijdloos accessoire: de duurzaamheid van leren heuptasjes in Nederland
In een wereld waar functionaliteit en mode elkaar ontmoeten, zijn leren heuptassen uitgegroeid tot een tijdloos accessoire dat zowel praktisch als stijlvol is. Of je nu naar een festival gaat, een lange wandeling gaat maken of gewoon op zoek bent naar een handige manier om je spullen mee te nemen, een leren heuptas kan de perfecte oplossing zijn. In Nederland neemt de populariteit van deze veelzijdige accessoires toe en mensen omarmen het gemak en de duurzaamheid die ze bieden. In deze blog verken je de wereld van leren heuptassen en ontdek je waarom ze een fashion statement zijn geworden in Nederland.
De opkomst van leren heuptassen
1. De evolutie van een functioneel opslagmedium Voorbij zijn de dagen dat heuptassen simpelweg werden gezien als functionele opbergzakken. De afgelopen jaren hebben ze een opmerkelijke transformatie ondergaan tot hippe mode-iconen die naadloos bij elke outfit passen. Tegenwoordig zijn leren heuptassen verkrijgbaar in verschillende maten, levendige kleuren en ontwerpen, waardoor ze een veelzijdig accessoire zijn dat elke look kan verbeteren. Of het nu op de heupen, rond de taille of cross-body wordt gedragen, een leren heuptasje stelt je in staat om je belangrijke spullen veilig op te bergen terwijl je ze dicht bij je lichaam houdt. 2. Handgemaakte lederen heuptassen Bij LeonDesign zijn we er trots op handgemaakte leren heuptasjes aan te bieden die niet alleen je rug ontlasten, maar ook een trendy uitstraling hebben. Deze compacte riemtasjes zijn voorzien van kleine vakken, waardoor er ruimte is voor je ID kaart, geld, pasjes, aansteker of sigaretten. Deze trendy riemtasjes zijn voorzien van een lus waarmee je het tasje makkelijk aan je riem kunt bevestigen, hierdoor draag je je kleine accessoires stijlvol en georganiseerd bij je.
Voordelen van leren heuptasjes
1. Duurzaamheid en Duurzaamheid Een van de grote voordelen van leren heuptassen is hun duurzaamheid. Deze tassen zijn gemaakt van hoogwaardig leer en kunnen de tand des tijds doorstaan als ze goed worden onderhouden. Door te investeren in een leren heuptas, verminder je de noodzaak van frequente vervangingen, wat niet alleen goed is voor je portemonnee, maar ook bijdraagt aan een duurzamere levensstijl. 2. Stijl en Mode Leren heuptasjes zijn niet alleen praktisch, maar voegen ook een vleugje stijl toe aan je outfit. Ze kunnen dienen als een modieus accessoire dat uw algehele look aanvult. Met hun veelzijdige designs en kleuren kunnen leren heuptassen moeiteloos zowel casual als actieve outfits verbeteren. Je kunt een tas van LeonDesign kiezen die bij uw stijl past en zo een statement maken dat jouw persoonlijkheid weerspiegelt. 3. Gemak en organisatie Een belangrijk voordeel van leren heuptasjes is het gemak dat ze bieden. In plaats van te zoeken in een rugzak of handtas, zijn je spullen makkelijk binnen handbereik in een heuptasje. Dit is vooral handig wanneer je reist, evenementen bijwoont of bezig bent met activiteiten waarbij je snel toegang moet hebben tot essentiële items. Met verschillende compartimenten en zakken kun je met deze leren heuptasjes jouw spullen geordend en veilig opbergen. Leren heuptasjes dragen en kopen 1. Hoe een leren heuptas te dragen Er zijn geen strikte regels voor het dragen van een leren heuptas, maar hier zijn enkele suggesties: - Plaats de tas over je heupen De beoogde plaatsing van een heuptas is rond de taille en heupen. Je kunt zorgen voor een comfortabele pasvorm die niet te strak of te los zit om de hele dag comfort te garanderen. - Voor- of zijkant positionering Veel mensen dragen de heuptas liever aan de voor- of zijkant van hun lichaam, zodat ze gemakkelijk bij de inhoud kunnen, zoals hun telefoon, portemonnee of sleutels. - Verstelbare bandlengte De meeste heuptassen hebben verstelbare banden, zodat je de lengte kunt aanpassen voor een comfortabele en veilige pasvorm terwijl je beweegt. - Combineer met de juiste outfit Leren heuptasjes kunnen een stijlvolle aanvulling zijn op je outfit. Je kunt de kleur en stijl van de tas afstemmen op jouw kleding om een samenhangende en modieuze look te creëren. - Waardevolle veiligheid Hoewel leren heuptassen gemak bieden, is het belangrijk om voorzichtig te zijn met jouw waardevolle spullen. Je kunt jouw spullen zoals jouw portemonnee en telefoon dicht bij jouw lichaam houden en waakzaam blijven in drukke gebieden om je te beschermen tegen mogelijke zakkenrollers. 2.
