A place we call home

I get overwhelmed with life sometimes, and like everyone else I sometimes ask God - Why? This is the answer I got.

Isn’t it strange that when we think of dying, We speak of our earthly bodies going back to the ground And our souls returning home to heaven. So why then do we strive to make our lives on this earth so comfortable when we call somewhere else home? Could it be that we forget that we are not just flesh but actually spirit beings?

It’s so easy to forget. The amnesia goes so deep. We make plans as if tomorrow is promised. Forgetting that we will only see the new morning if God wills. We groan and complain about how hard life is. And wonder why the suffering and pain persists Well! I think- It’s because we forget to remember that Heaven is home. A home that is worth having A home worth working hard to enter into. A home that will last for infinity and beyond.

Sometimes, we forget to set our minds on things above. Jesus did say that in this world we would have trouble but we needn’t worry because he has overcome the world. So when things aren’t going my way and I wonder why there is so much pain. I pray, keep the faith and then remind myself that an eternity with God will be waiting for me if and only if I continue to abide in him and his will for my life. Ayo :)x

My sister sent me this card years ago when my children and I were struggling to heal from the collapse of my marriage. Inside is printed “Just a reminder - I’m here for you,” and my sister added, “I’ve never been very good at slaying dragons, but I can pray that the prince will finally arrive and you’ll live happily ever after. So that’s my prayer! Hope each day gets better. Love, Denise.” . Instead of a prince, more dragons arrived - huge, terrible, destructive dragons - but my sister is still there for me, and I still believe in the possibility of happily ever after. I have always kept this card close by, on my nightstand or with my writing things, to remind me that there is hope and that I’m not alone. .
