I think that swords definitely talk to Mihawk and Zoro like not even just their sword but any sword of worth but especially the "cursed" ones. Like I mean full-sentences talking that only they can hear. And not the general hum of power or bloodlust that people like shanks hear -
And Shanks does not realize that Mihawk means he is having full conversations with his sword when he says Yoru talks to him. Until Mihawk translates something Gryphon says and Shanks is just like 'I'm sorry.....what???"
Shanks: What do you mean you can talk to swords Mihawk: I told you this 🙄 Shanks: I thought you meant like the general humming, Not that they were conversationalists! Mihawk: So did you think all this time I was just talking to myself? Shanks:....I thought it was a symptom of your lonely childhood.....
I think Zoro has to hold the sword to hear it speak but will eventually grow to be like Mihawk where he just has to be in the area to hear it.

And the cycle continues. Nothing changed, everything changed. Doomed by the narrative.

where there ever instances where zoen was held accountable for artha's doings, especially after the fall of the lich king? did people seek to extend their anger towards him? how does that interfere with the idea of the sins of the father, and being judged for their ancestors? and on a broader spectrum, what are zoen's views on legacy?
It’s always on the table. Rare’s the person who can interact with Zoen and not, on some level, hold her father’s sins against her. @throned ’s Varian nearly expelled the death knights from Stormwind upon instantly recognizing Arthas’ daughter. @shxwmaster ’s Mathias Shaw interrogated her heavily following the public revelation of her heritage after the fall of the Lich King. Neither of these scenarios led to true consequences, but they could have. That’s the possibility that haunted Zoen most during WotLK and Cata.
There have absolutely been isolated instances of people violently lashing out against Zoen for Arthas’ actions over the years. Enacting vengeance against a god of death is difficult; a death knight, though fearsome, is far easier prey. However, barring specific dynamics & plots, none of these instances are really … notable? It’s not these moments of overt judgment that really sink beneath Zo’s skin.
Anyone who knows of Arthas is going to see him in his son. They’re so similar. The same laughs, smiles, bad senses of humor. Zo’s reckless and passionate and utterly devoted to those she sees as her own. He went to Northrend in search of vengeance, and ascended the Frozen Spire, and killed his own father. She seeks the darkest powers she can get her hands on. She’s so similar to him. A pale shadow --- but what’s pale to a pitch-black void?
The problem isn’t that people copy-paste Arthas’ sins onto Zoen. It’s not that simple. They see the resemblance, which colors ( even unconsciously ) how they interact with her. Zoen, anxious and wary as a kicked dog for that judgment, preemptively lashes out against it … which. Is also a keenly Arthas reaction to have.
It’s messy. Family always is.
On the topic of legacy, I don’t think Zoen considers it very often if at all. Maybe through the lens of haunting and being haunted, but overall it’s … not key to his mindset? Zo tries to live for the present. He certainly has no thoughts of his own legacy --- he intends to live forever.

Some Batfam Headcanons because the brain never stops;
Jason hates being called "Bruce's Son". But he hates it more when hes called "One of Wayne's Orphans/Wayne's child" because fuck you I'm his son-! wait no--
With the exception of Damian, they rarely refer to Bruce as "Dad/Father". Either it didn't occur to them/didn't see the need to/thought it would be strange. But when Dick/Jason/Tim/Cass are tired or injured it might slip out. And Bruce might just crumble a bit at it
Doesn't mean they don't say it to their siblings when Bruce is out of Earshot.
"Dad said you couldn't." "What do you mean Dad said I couldn't use that mug? It's my mug!" "You snooze you lose Timmy Boy-" "Jason don't be an asshole-"
That being said Bruce says "son/daughter/child" at every available opportunity he can after he knows that they have acclimated enough that they wouldn't be uncomfortable/know they can tell Bruce that they don't want to be called that.
First time Bruce called Dick "son" in a way that meant "You are my kid" and not in a "This police officer just called me son with a brow furrow" way Dick grinned and carried on with the conversation. Later he wondered if his dad wouldn't like someone else calling him Son; but Dick thinks about the life he was given because of Bruce and thinks maybe his dad wouldn't mind.
Calling Jason "son" is a hit or miss situation, even before he died. The first time it happened he was confused, he didnt think that was the relationship they had and it made everything change for him. He got frustrated--not angry--with himself and Bruce at this sudden emotional turmoil. Wasn't he just the kid Bruce picked up in an alleyway? Wasn't he just some street rat in bright Robin clothing? (He lets himself believe that he can be Bruce's son. If for only a little while).
Tim cries after Bruce is out of earshot, it would've been a year or so after his parents died and he was adopted. He didn't think he could have been wanted like that again. Even if you think the Drake's had A+ Parenting or not, I don't think he would have gotten a lot of confirmation of being wanted otherwise.
Cass smiles, emotions carefully concealed under her expression. She's grateful she found Bruce and he doesn't mention it if she leans a bit closer in a request for closeness.
Damian doesn't expect anything less, he only appears satisfied. But also relieved that he has gotten the confirmation that yes, Bruce wants and accepts him.
EDIT 10/11; hiii, i have added Duke, Steph & a Bonus in a reblog you can find on the same blog under my 'batfamily headcanons' / 'sore rambles' tag. have fun :)

Nico referring to his mom as "Mama" implies he most likely at least used to refer to Hades as "Papa" and i 100% headcanon he still does but mostly in the manner of him having the entire Underworld wrapped around his finger for being the baby of the family
#pjo#riordanverse#nico di angelo#headcanon#my art#nico flexing youngest child privilages by pulling out the most pitiful expression he can manage#anyways i find it fun to explore character word choices#cause yknow no two characters are going to select their words the same way#or even necessarily think about it to the same degree#i like to think Nico thinks about his word choice a lot#so of course every time he uses ''papa'' he fully knows he's pulling the Baby Of The Family card#Hades definitely knows this too but falls for it every time anyways#cause Nico hasnt called him ''papa'' regularly since getting his memory wiped - just detached ''father'' or at best ''dad''#so it just reminds Hades of How Much He Just Wants His Children To Be Happy Like The Old Days#and how much poor Nico has been through and he's just the baby of the family and-#cue Nico smugly staring at the camera cause he knows how much power he holds#also i say Nico is Hades' only son cause mythologically even when Zagreus *is* Hades' son (rarely) he's. dead.#a major part of Zagreus' mythology is that he died#and im p sure every other deity said to be Hades' children are all goddesses and also are like 50% of the time not his#theres also only like 3 of them. and as far as we know in riordanverse canon one of them is implied to not be his daughter#so Nico is Hades' only son and also youngest in the family (cause Hazel is older by a month chronologically or 1 year biologically)#(and everybody else is a deity if children of hades at all)

Back again with Danny being adopted by other batfam members.
But this time I thought of the absolute comedy of Damian, tiny squirt and five apples tall, deciding that he is now a father to a grown ass teenage Danny.
It was an accident and had never been his intention to adopt another being.
But it had been placed into Damian’s head that in order to be a potential Batman he had to have his own Robin. And the only way to have his own Robin was to have a child, similar to the way that Father would pick up the various children and teenagers amongst them.
Damain had a very specific list of requirements for his potential child-Robin. Danny did not meet any of those requirements, and yet here Damian was having forged papers for the now Daniel Al Ghul-Wayne, and beginning the treacherous affair of introducing his son to the family.
Danny twisted his new shirt sleeve with a frown. It was a nice green silk that complimented the little green that resided in his son’s eyes. Damian wished to bring out the many carefully crafted features of Danny that could match to Damian. Having his eyes pop, wild hair brushed and losing the battle to nervous hands, would have to do.
At least until Damian taught Danny his mother tongue and began the care of his culture and soon to be heritage.
