Shadow Milk Cookie does not take your betrayal well.

Not agreeing with his philosophies is one thing, but acting out against him— helping those wretched witches seal him away— he won’t forget it. He stews in his rage, replays the moments of your treachery over and over again. He doesn’t blame you, he blames the witches. Those cowardly, despicable, rotten farces of gods. You are incredibly misguided by them, that’s all it is. You just need a little shove in the right direction, and once he escapes, he’ll happily provide that.

While Shadow Milk Cookie does not think you are at fault, he does believe that your actions warrant some sort of punishment. He pours himself over this during his imprisonment; ways to get back at you, make you suffer a little before he feels you’ve earned his forgiveness. Nothing he thinks of ever feels severe enough, there is nothing you could possibly do to mend his broken heart. (Perhaps if you stay by his side; spend the rest of eternity repenting and groveling, proving your loyalty and remorse, never estranging yourself from him again… maybe then, he’ll consider taking pity on you.)

After he breaks free from imprisonment, he’s all smiles and theatrics. Naturally, it’s a deceptive cover. Beneath his conniving grin is a deep-seated resentment. He tears the silver tree asunder with a manic smile and a burning desire for revenge. There are many things he intends to reclaim:

First of all, the other half of his soul jam.

He’ll run circles around that false little hero— as he finds that Pure Vanilla is surprisingly susceptible to corruption. It’s an excellent warm-up after laying dormant for so long, and Shadow Milk Cookie intends on enjoying every second of that thief’s descent into madness.

Then, once that’s out of the way, he’ll come for his silly, misguided, deceitful little lover next.

I would really love it if Charlie saw Alastor’s pointless beefing with her dad and took it as an opportunity to force him to be more social.

Like she’d make a comment about how happy she is that her dad gets along with her friends, and she really appreciates that, and then Lucifer would give Alastor a smug look so Al would immediately start aggressively getting along with everybody else.

And Charlie is essentially manipulating Alastor into being a nicer person, and he is perfectly aware she’s doing it and it makes him even more angry.

Because there’s nothing he can do about it; either he accepts defeat to Lucifer and has to deal with his smug looks, or he plays nice with Charlie and has to deal with Charlie smiling at him brighter than usual, and there’s an obvious choice between the two of those.

And Lucifer of course has no idea any of this is happening. His daughter is using him to perform psychological warfare on his dad-nemesis and he’s so blinded by her compliments that he doesn’t even notice.

Theres smth about how Louis' whole narrative of Paris is in service of the climactic moment of Armand saving him at the trial, and the revelation that he didnt do that reveals that Louis' whole concept of who Armand is is on some level false, compared with the fact that when Armand starts telling Daniel about his history unprompted he chooses to introduce himself executing a vampire for violation of the great laws, and goes on to explain that the only person who had ever really loved him before Louis had abandoned him. Almost like maybe he thought Daniel would figure out what he did, and was trying to pre-emptively explain why he did it.

TL;DR A fear of writing characters of highly marginalized identities shields you from criticism and discomfort, but it's actively stigmatizing to people of these identities and as a writer you really need to get over yourself and write The Icky People.

I guess I'll come out swinging on this one and say that fandom doesn't like severe mental illness. (As a note, when I say severe mental illness (SMI) I mean illnesses such as psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, personality disorders, etc)

Obviously, nobody likes people w/SMI. It's just insanely egregious in fandom to me, since fanfic writers absolutely love writing characters or HC characters with depression, anxiety, or a specific variety of PTSD That Isn't Scary. People actively reject any character HCs for a SMI. When people write a character with SMI, they nicely downplay it, ignore it, substitute it for a disorder they like better, or rewrite it. It's completely untolerated, in both headcanons and in fanfiction, and every time I bring it up I always get the most interesting reasons why somebody couldn't possibly acknowledge a character's SMI in their writing. I've heard all of these:

"I don't know enough about the disorder to write it accurately." Do research.

"I'm not X, so I can't really depict it." You probably aren't a cis white man, but you depict those guys just fine.

"It feels insulting to the character." There is no shame in having a SMI.

"I can't understand what it's like, so it's better to be cautious and avoid giving characters stigmatized identities." There are LOTS of experiences that you'll never understand because you've never had them - you just don't want to write anything you're uncomfortable with. People with SMI make you uncomfortable, and you don't want to write anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, or think of a comfort character in an uncomfortable way. SMIs are marginalized differently than solely depression/anxiety/The Nice PTSD, and by refusing to write them you're actively contributing to the stigma.

I think (?) I've spoken in the past about how I believe that the rigorous external and internal policing of writing people of marginalized identities is actively harmful towards efforts to increase diversity of experience and background in fiction. A lot of fanfiction writers are just terrified to write people who they can't directly relate with, because they're worried 'they'll get it wrong' and be Big Cancelled. I think this is negative enough when it prevents people from going outside of their comfort zone, but on a macro level I think this results in people refusing to write characters of marginalized identities as all. It's an insidious thought process, and it's reflected in people's unwillingness to diversity their writing or acknowledge canon diversity.

'Well, I don't understand what it's like to be Black, so I don't want to write Black people'. 'I want to project on this character, so I only want to write them with mental illnesses and identities I have'. 'If I write a marginalized character incorrectly people will yell at me, so I won't write a marginalized character who's marginalized differently than me at all'. Can you imagine writing a lesbian character with a boyfriend because 'you feel uncomfortable writing lesbian experiences'? It's blatantly homophobic. But people do that with disability and race/ethnicity ALL THE TIME.

People with SMI notice that you feel uncomfortable with them. It's obvious. They notice when a character has a SMI + anxiety, and you only write their anxiety. They notice when a character displays symptoms of a SMI in canon, but you write it out. And POC notice when the characters of color are written out. I know we all like to project on the blorbos and relate to them, and in the joys of your own head do whatever, but as a writer if you only stick to identities you're comfortable with you are actively being a worse writer. Which to me is the REAL sin lmfao.

i keep worrying that im flattening xigbar, smoothing his edges, by headcanoning/theorizing that he cared about roxas and xion to some extent—a view of him that not everybody shares—but 1. it doesnt come from nowhere, it's based in the text, and 2. it would absolutely reflect less poorly on him if he didn't care about them at all, rather than if he cared about them but let all that shit happen to them anyway despite having the power to stop it

and also. having read the first book armand turning daniel on a whim Kind of makes sense to me in hindsight. I guess? I don’t know exactly how it fits into his conceptions about vampirism being a curse - which is what ticks me off the most - but what we do know is that in the books he finds daniel in lestat’s house chasing vampires soon after he leaves louis, where he’s possibly once again perceived as louis’s ‘leftovers’, maybe an object who had access to louis and his sympathy in a way he envies. in both iterations of the story there isn’t any significant period he goes through alone, and we see him attach himself to louis even with the threat of not receiving any love in return hanging over his head, hoping that the love will manifest eventually. now that he’s irreparably bound himself to daniel (fathered him, even) it’s not a stretch to anticipate him developing a very unhealthy attachment to daniel.

Also because I love them and like to point it out, the succubi act more as pleasure dealers in the sense of they offer up whatever a human wants most in exchange for their soul. It's rarely of a sexual nature since it's what they want MOST in life. And most people's ambitions are outside of a bedroom. (happy pride, asexuals are able to get affected by a succubus now without discrimination)

That's Percival Wrenchit! A department-transfer Cold Caller who's working under Chip Revvington as an intern. Ignore the fact ey aren't in any official records. Or that eir intern position seems to be unending. Or that eir last date of work was in Sellbot HQ in 2018. Or that you never see Perry and Percival in the same room.

In all seriousness, Percival is Perry...'s cog disguise. Custom-made with the help of a certain Mr. Fear and Loathing in order to make it look as authentic as possible, to be undetected by even the greatest of toon-sniffing scent detectors. Of course, Mr. FaL's intentions maaaaay have been a little iffy. Being able to keep Perry in C.O.G.S. Inc... maybe get em to be an official hire... and Perry, being how ey were, was stuck with an office job for a while. This... maaaay have led to a few identity crisis's where ey kept forgetting ey're a toon, but this was way back in 2018.

Present-day, this disguise made a come-back... in the form of Mr. Revvington getting a bit too upset over the fact that this strange, silent critter has somehow been getting his brother's blessing for two weeks, yet all ey're doing is just standing like a statue in his office with eir eyes on the floor. Pretty sure ey've sweat bullets to the point the rug's had to be cleaned from something other than cake stains. Regardless, he eventually had enough and figured if Perry was going to be stubborn in visiting him, ey might as well make emself useful. He knows toons take parts in order to build their own disguises, despite the fact they always come out at the very least a little off, to at most straight into uncanny valley for the trained eye. At least this one's got more effort put into it. He doesn't want to see a critter in his office (despite the fact eir first tasks are things such as cleaning the halls, fetching him oil or cogfee, or retrieving certain documents that specifically have information that wouldn't be useful to the resistance. He has absolutely no trust in em at this point and thinks ey could very well be a spy. He's being smart about it.), not to mention the eyebrows that might raise. So shoving em in eir disguise and having em be a department-transfer intern is a good cover-up story.
