i barely see anything coming from this scene, and it's not like i have enough braincells to write why it affects me so much, but i'd love to see it being discussed and i haven't. so i haven't reached s8 yet but ik based on context and youtube that his mania is a huge part of that season. something about Ian constantly feeling like he needs to be independent, having to deal with shit on his own, and being brushed off in certain moments, and on top being heavily demonized or criticized by people just don't sit well with me. the whole point of this damn show is that everyone has shit, and no one there is by standard a "stand up citizen," so i'll never understand the point of bringing them out of their established context for the sake of shit talking then unless it's for an actual discussion rather than just shrugging it off as "they're bad people and can't be redeemed" (except for Frank and Terry, fuck em, and other people too)

i'm steering away from my point. thing is, this guy has gone his whole life with barely any sort of support, and the little he has had, was taken away quickly. so, there we have this boy, just left the love of his life at the border, finds out his mother died, and it's not like they had a great relationship ofc, but he had scraps of what a mother and son relationship *could've* been. and it's like he's mourning that right here after having to dig up her body for meth for Christ's sake. as if her dying wasn't bad enough. trying to put up that block back, and failing, so fucking metaphorical it makes me cry.

On the other, they decided to send him and his sisters to their uncle while they take care of the Guys in White and refurbish the house to be, well, him safe. Which meant a ridiculously long flight all the way to New Jersey. 

A flight he was pretty sure happened to be illegal what with the fact that neither of them were asked for their IDs or anything despite having them with them. Hm. Y’know he’s not going to question it, he’s getting a nap the moment they get to Uncle Harvey’s.
