you know what i think. i think if Shinomori had done nothing. that none of the vestiges would have been taken.

the vestiges can only transfer if the living holder or they want to (see: movie 2).

But Shinomori thought that Shigaraki could steal them, so he did a "take me instead" thing. He put himself forward all like "you can have me but not the others" and since he did, that technically counts as permission, so he got stolen.

my man you should have just ducked with the others. this is what too much heroism does to someone. you own petard my guy.

Yeah after this chapter I am FULLY convinced that whatever rizz Hawks had was stored in his quirk. We all thought he was trained to be all suave and flirty but no, he literally came by it naturally. And now without his quirk he's Just Some Guy. HIS QUIRK WAS BEING COOL.

I've wanted to do the SixFanarts challenge for a long while, but didn't have any good reason for it. Very much late to the trend but after getting one more player character from playing Baldur's Gate 3 I now have enough recent-ish favourite game OCs to do an actual good idea with this without reusing specific games (game series obviously don't count). Template by @mcapriglioneart and I found it on Brushwarriors.

Character models in game and individual comparisons below.

I find it really interesting that Tokoyami and Hawks have only kind of talked since the first war arc, and even then Hawks still has unresolved issues. Tokoyami spent the time between war arcs trying to get Hawks to call him and that never happened. They connect again to fight All for One and Hawks can finally see his mistakes from before, but soon after he talks about his wings being born dirty. Compare this to Tokoyami born with darkness as a part of him. Also, Hawks who wants to be a light to others (like plushie Endeavor was for little Hawks). I wonder if, when the moment finally comes for Hawks to see how he has failed regarding Twice, Tokoyami will be there with him. We saw Hawks holding Tokoyami but we later saw him getting back up depsite being beaten, bloody, exhausted. Hawks being alone to face himself seems to go against Horikoshi's message and style and it would be a lonely and bitter way for an overall positive, beacon of light character to have a revelation about himself.

I mean, I trust Hori to do something satisfying and amazing, I'm just speculating that I think Tokoyami will be there involved and supportive for Hawks when his final thing comes. Tokoyami understands being born into darkness, and I think would be able to lift Hawks out of his own, or maybe help him embrace it. Become that light in the darkness, yeah? Or, maybe be okay to just have that darkness be intrinsically part of oneself. I don't know :P I love for Hawks to suffer, but I don't want him to be alone when it all comes down. He's been alone long enough, it's time to just have a friend who he doesn't need to be useful for, just be Keigo.

i don’t read the manga either, i just keep up with hawks and what’s happening to him lol. so basically all for one took his quirk and the vestige of hawks is living inside afo at the moment. yep — keigo is quirkless as of now.

thinking about the ending of dragon age 2 as a mage hawke who sided with the mages at the end of the fifth blight, the warden defeats the archdemon and saves ferelden. they are paraded through denerim to the sounds of cheering crowds. if they don't survive, their memory lives on in a tale of great heroism and sacrifice for years to come. the inquisitor celebrates at skyhold with the rest of their companions after they beat corypheus, the threat finally ended, the inquisition a success.

but not hawke. you can fight with everything you have to support the mages, but there is no grand fanfare when it is over. the villain succumbs to corruption and dies unceremoniously - you don’t even get the satisfaction of striking the killing blow. you can’t get a round at the hanged man to celebrate. it’s time to go. you and your friends can never sit around your table at the hanged man again. you can’t be seen here when the templars come to clean up the mess. nothing will be the same. you have given seven years of your life trying to hold kirkwall together, accepted your accolades and played the part of champion, and you watch it fall apart anyway. and how much of that is your fault? this city has been stained in your blood since before you could remember, since before the blood was your own.

you lost your sister when you lost your first home. even so, you tried to live by the advice you gave fenris - when you stop running, you build a life. the estate that you clawed your family back into stands looming and empty. it is the last place you saw your mother alive, and you still can't bear to touch her things, and you will never even see her room again. bodahn and sandal are making preparations to leave for orlais, orana will find other work with the skills she's learned, and the house will remain, a hollow testament to your family's legacy. gamlen will hear only the stories. your brother fought by your side when it mattered, despite everything. even so, he will stay behind, and you might never see him again.

no, there is no time for a celebration. instead you get a cautious acknowledgement from the templars, a tense goodbye, and then you can never go home again. for the second time. you thought you could build a life, and you tried. you held on as long as you could, you made friends, you fell in love, you clung to the last vestiges of your family, but most of them will be forced to leave your side anyway. you won, but even that wasn't enough.

You know, I think this ending would have been slightly less of a fucking disappointment if the heroes hadn't been so unfairly favored by Horikoshi compared to the villains. I mean, seriously

Deku destroys every bone in his body multiple times throughout the story and is warned that if he continues, he'll permanently lose the use of his limbs ? Everything's fine, his body's just got used to being reduced to a bloody pulp somehow so there's no consequences for him. In fact even when he literally loses his arms to Shigaraki, he gets them back two minutes later thanks to Eri because guess what ? Her horn still works even when cut off from her body. How convenient.

Gran Torino gets his ribcage obliterated by Shigaraki ? Don't worry guys, he'll survive that despite his old age and injuries, and this to have no particular role in the plot afterwards.

Bakugo dies heroically trying to buy time before Deku arrives ? Lmao, did you really believe it ?? No of course not, Edgeshot just uses his last-minute Deus Ex Machina to save his life at the cost of his own and- Oops nope he's fine too, my bad !

Hawks murders a criminal fleeing for his life in cold-blood ? The best Hori has to offer is him completely free and in charge of the HSPC.

And no, losing his quirk isn't a real consequence for him because not only it literally played a major part in saving the world with Vestige!Hawks raising an insurrection among AFO's quirks, but also because his quirk has always been the element through which people exploited him.

Endeavor abused his family for years and completely destroyed his eldest son ? No jail time and no media backlash for that, the only blame he received was due to the heroes' failure to stop the League during the Raid Arc.

And don't even get me started on this bs about facing hell or whatever for what he's done : He's literally free and wealthy ; he have Rei, Fuyumi, Shoto, his sidekicks and Hawks on his side ; and all the difficulties he's apparently going to suffer are off-screened.

Deku had to sacrifice OFA and his future hero career to save the world ? Guess what, Bakugo invested all his time and money to make him an Iron-Man suit and now he can still be a hero with everyone else.

There are plenty more examples of this but I think you get the idea. Now let's take a look at the villains' ending :

Toya is now a piece of charcoal kept artificially alive for the few years he has left, unable to move a finger, and whose few minutes a day during which he can stay awake will be spent talking to his father who abused him as a child.

Toga, a literal teenager, killed herself to save Ochako and because she knew it's still better than rotting at Tartarus her whole life.

And not only did she die but she did by bleding to death. Let me repeat for those who have trouble grasping what I've just said : In a manga where the heroes can survive having their heart blown to bits, being impaled Kakyoin-style or smashed against buildings like a fly on a windshield, one of the main antagonists died of a fucking hemorrhage…

As for Shigaraki, after learning that his very birth and all the tragedies of his life have been orchestrated by AFO, after all this development and narrative promises about him being saved in the end... Deku just kills him.

Because despite all his speeches about saving him, it seems like the best he could do was beating him both physically and mentally until he crumbles to dust…

Compress on his side is apparently locked up for life and kept alive by machines too.

A begging Kurogiri tried in a desperate attempt to save Shigaraki, only to be unceremoniously blown up by Bakugo and dying off-screen without anyone giving a shit, including Aizawa and Mic.

And Spinner will now spend the rest of his life struggling with the extra quirks inside him that affect his body and mind, while having to cope with the thought that his boyfriend best friend and companions have either died alone or are locked away for life in horrifying circumstances.

Clearly not the same as with the heroes...

Now don't get me wrong, even if they suffered just as much from the consequences of their actions or the plot as the League, this ending would still be a disaster in terms of writing but AT LEAST it wouldn't reek that much of hypocrisy.

okay so bakugou got got right we all know that, shigaraki fucked up his arm, bakugou said “oh I know what I gotta do” and did a good attack on shiggy but his heart exploded </3 and he died but edgshot said “nuh uh” and used his body to stitch it back up and then deku was late to the party and didnt even have time to be bummed out about bakugou’s corpse cause he has to fight shigaraki and then somewhere else afo does stuff blah blah blah and snatches hawks quirk (rip) and then takes off to join shigafo in that fight but all might says “not on my watch” and intercepts him and they duke it out and all this time afo is getting younger cause he used something made from eris quirk so he could keep duking it out with endeavour and that gang so he’s like a teen fighting poor old man all might who used all his savings to by himself a mech suit but it’s not going so hot for him and stain shows up to take on afo with all might but afo still wins and is about to finish off all might when bakugou starts up his own heart with his explosive sweat and makes really fruity eye contact with deku and with the power of friendship deku pauses his fight with shigafo to launch bakugou towards afo and bakugou saved all might and goes “dawg who’s this kid I’m about to beat the shit out of” and all might says “that’s afo” and bakugou goes to beat the shit out of toddler afo and succeeds because afo finally benjamin buttons out of existence but the whole balugou’s arm looks like seconds away from falling off, then after a long day of fighting bakugou takes a well deserved nap and we go back to deku v shigafo and it’s not going well for deku he’s trying to break through to tenko but he’s not getting anywear and then shigaraki steals danger sense and it gets even worse but second user goes “wait ! He did not ! The afo vestige that loves in shigaraki’s mind comes out and evil laughs and says “you idiot I’ve been behind all the awful missrable things that happened your whole life ! I convinced your dad to have you, I took your og quirk away and gave you half of an ability that should have let you destroy and recreate but only gave you the destructive part because I am evil and you are too because I made you that way” and shigaraki goes :0 ?!1?;& and dissolves because afo cast vicious mockery and got a nat20 dealing double damage. We then exit shigaraki’s mind and deku has no arms !! But behind him avengers endgame style, heroes amass and aizawa steps out of the portal and goes “damn sorry midoriya if only I’d come like a minute earlier now you’re armless </3” but ! He tosses deku eri’s horn because eri havked it off herself to give to deku to save him and deku’s arms start growing back :D at the same time, afo has fully taken over shigaraki’s body and i like “haha tomura is no more it’s just me now” but he’s super bummed out because his vestige brother is gone as well and he’s like “damn what even is the reason for doing anything anymore :// I guess I’ll still kick ur ass or whatever but I’m kinda apathetic about taking over the world now” but while deku gave away ofa he still has some of the embers and with the power of froendship once more, he dodges afo’s attacks and punches him super duper hard, and we see shigaraki again :D and yoichi :00 and yoichi says sone shit to afo and shigaraki turns to deku like “this was truly our hero academia :) tell spinner I love him” and deku says “sure dawg” and they fist bump and stuff

tldr: deku gave up ofa to save shigaraki and bakugou’s arm is super super messed up which is very fun

So, Deku and Bakugo are directly responsible for Kurogiri/Shirakumo dying.

Kurogiri's last words and sacrifice meant nothing.

Shirakumo never fully comes back to say goodbye to Aizawa and Yamada.

Nana bringing Tenko back meant nothing, and we never even get to see them actually talk to each other.

Hawks doesn't have any role in saving Toga to atone for killing Jin.

Deku has his "You can be a hero." moment with some random kid and not Tenko.

We don't get to see Touya react to Tomura and Toga's death (or even ever mention the LoV), which makes his "I don't care about the League" statement unfortunately seem true when I assumed he was just lying to himself.

We don't get to see Tomura react to Twice's death, if he even knew Twice died.

Compress' sacrifice pretty much meant nothing, and now he's just stuck in prison.

We don't get to see the Todoroki's have dinner together with Touya (and without Endeavor).

All For One was right in the end, Izuku couldn't save Tomura.

Izuku doesn't get to fully breakdown to anyone about the guilt he feels for not saving Tomura. (Mirroring Bakugo's breakdown about All Might)

No Tomura OFA vestige, the embers are just gone eventually.
