People shit on hanneman for being a "bad unit" and, yeah, in comparison to lysithea, he's strictly worse. And he's got the issue of being a male magic user. But he's got a LOT going for him! Very good magic, which is all he actually needs (yes his low speed sucks but mages tend to be slow in three houses and all mages apart from lysithea are never doubling on maniac mode anyway). Great spell selection, including 3 range and siege spells. And he has a crest, which means he can use thyrsus without penalty, which hubert and dorothea can't do. Hanneman is a good unit, actually

Three Hopes feels lackluster in comparison to Three Houses when it comes to making a satisfying conclusion for all routes, but by god the paralogues alone are such a highlight that makes it stand out so much to me. Like fighting a bunch of simping thieves with Manuela and Dorothea (and Hanneman butting in for Manuela's rescue like he's some knight in shining armor at the last minute)? The insufferable noble-off with Lorenz, Constance and Ferdinand? Shamir trying to run off from a former employer who's obsessed with her? The contest between Linhardt, Caspar and their dads? Worth it!

Sorry I forgot Hanneman suggested Byleth undress after they show up with a different hair color. And I miss Hanneman. And also while swapping between Houses and Hopes and seeing Hanneman pop up to help in a Hopes paralogue is just devastating since he doesn't ever actually join you at all and I am denied my old man rights.

to this day, the most accurate dialogue i have ever seen written for Hanneman in a fanfiction is in a smut oneshot where he impregnates Manuela for crest research reasons and i have never gotten over it. It's a case of "he would not fucking do that, but if for some reason he did, this is EXACTLY how he would sound doing it"
