Flayn in CF would be really funny bc 1.) Hubert support and 2.) we radicalized Seteth’s ignorant daughter and now he’s getting ready to give her the grounding of a lifetime—if she doesn’t give it to him first.

Part one of a trio of paintings I started 4 years ago and never finished. This was the first time I tried out a new addition to my repitoire of traditional media. In all my prior paintings, when I included gold accents, they were painted with Winsor & Newton gold metalic ink. Very pretty when the light hits it right because there are specks of bronze in the ink that give it more dimension than just flat gold, but kind of a pain to use because, being metalic flecks suspended in liquid, they would settle and so I had to keep shaking the damn bottle every time I dipped my brush. The metalic accents in this paiting were done with Coliro pearl colors, metalic watercolors from Germany (you can see where the paint smudged because I was used to working with fast-drying ink). And holy shit, are these things shiny as all hell.

I was so proud of this whole idea. It feels weird to say this, but I love the Church of Seiros. All my favorite characters are affiliated with the church, and I'm willing to tolerate the Black Eagles just to play the Silver Snow route (the canon route in my book- I love Azure Moon, love my boy Dimitri, but Silver Snow is where it's at for me). I went into 3H expecting to only care about Hanneman, but it turns out my old man-dar was more finely tuned than I thought because I latched onto to Seteth and went absolutely feral for him. I don't care about these damn kids and their stupid war, I just want to listen to my husband talk.

Bonus WiP of my beloved step-daughter. I had trouble acheiveing the same gradient in her hair that I did for Seteth.

Edelgard x Flayn post war recovery

Let's go for it.

Edelgard let out a soft grunt as she felt her leg being pushed back towards her chest. Ever since the end of the war, her health had been taking a turn for the worst. It wasn't until Professor Hanneman came running with his team declaring they'd succeeded in their research that she'd found some modicum of hope for living beyond thirty.

And now, nearly two months after just healing from her Crest removal surgery, having both Seiros and Flames removed from her blood, she found herself laying on the floor, on a thick mat of weaved hay and feather down as Flayn helped her with her stretches. Normally Hubert would be the one she turned to for this. Finding herself in such a vulnerable position in front of anyone else made her stomach churn.

But Hubert was away in Nuvelle, so Flayn had insisted that she could handle all the physical therapy Manuela had assigned. Stretches, strength training, everything she would need to regain reasonable range in motion again.

"How do you feel?" Flayn asked as they stopped for a drink.

"I thought it would be hard, but I'm okay." Edelgard happily drank down the water, sighing contently at the coolness offsetting her aching muscles.

Flayn nodded. "I am glad you are able to handle these exercises now. It was rather....'touch and go', as it were. You did not seem to be handling it well at first."

Edelgard held back the urge to correct her. There was no way to hide the truth from her now. "Perhaps it was rather difficult. But they've been getting easier. I don't think I'm at the point I can do most of them myself yet, though."

"That is why I'm here." Flayn leaned in and gave her a brief kiss. "Once you are finished with your recovery, we can make good on that promise."

"Promise?"

Flayn stared at her sternly. "Did you forget the promise we made before the surgery? Hubert assured me that he would see to the planning personally-"

Edelgard giggled. "I didn't forget, Flayn. I was just kidding."

After an overly dramatic gasp, Flayn lightly smacked the Emperor on the shoulder. "You dare tease me? Perhaps I should eat your portion of dessert tonight as pennance."

"Perish that thought. I will share at most."

"So greedy!"

"I'm the greedy one? Who nearly ate the entire palace out of its entire fish storage."

"If you did not want me to eat the fish, you should not have made it so delicious and within my reach."

The two laughed, lightly shoving each other playfully. Neither thought they'd be lucky enough to be given such a chance at happiness.

They would be sure to savor it.
