Remembering Motta (Mordechai) Gur – the IDF's 10th Chief of Staff
Motta Gur was born in Jerusalem in 1930. He volunteered to join the Haganah at the age of 13 and five years later during the War of Independence was put in charge of a battalion despite his young age. In 1950, he again volunteered to join the army in order serve as a company commander under the command of Ariel Sharon. During an operation, Motta was wounded and received Israel's second highest military decoration for his bravery. After taking time off to study abroad, Motta came back to command the Golani Brigade, and later the 55th Paratrooper's Reserve Brigade. It was in this position that Gur led the campaign that liberated the Western Wall, uttering the famous words, “The Temple Mount is in our hands.” In 1969 he was appointed Commander of the Northern Command, and in 1974, the 10th Chief of Staff. In 1978 he retired from the military and entered politics – holding many positions including Minister of Health, and Deputy Minister of Defense. Motta Gur passed away on July 16, 1995.

Another clause of [Tochnit Dalet, Haganah’s plan for the expulsion of the Palestinians,] provided for the “encirclement of the central Arab municipal area and its isolation from external transportation routes, as well as the termination of its vital services (water, electricity, fuel, etc.), as far as possible.”

CE 1944, 10, 12: Britain criticises Jewish terrorism in Palestine
It clearly doesn’t make a difference. Palestine, through the exertions and sacrifices of His Majesty’s Forces and the Forces of the Allies, has enjoyed for five years virtual immunity from the horrors of war which have caused such unspeakable suffering elsewhere. Since early in the present year, Palestine has, however, been the scene of a series of outrageous crimes of violence by Jewish…

[un-paywalled version]
In 1942, Haganah fighters kidnapped Efraim Zetler, a member of the Lehi militia, outside his father’s home in Kfar Sava. “They drove him around for an hour… holding him, blindfolding him and tying his legs together,” his father said later. “On the way, they changed cars and then took him to an orchard and brought into a packing house where they sat him on some empty boxes while blindfolded.” Over the next 20 days, the 18-year-old Zelter was questioned about his role in the extremist group, which was led by Avraham “Yair” Stern, who would be killed by the British later that year.
Transcripts of Zetler’s interrogation, which were released to the public last month by the Israel State Archives, include information on a dark chapter in Lehi’s history – its ties with Nazi Germany.
“We will communicate with any military power ready to help with the establishment of the kingdom of Israel, even if it’s Germany,” Zetler told the astonished interrogators. “The only condition is that we get weapons, so we can rebel against the English,” he added.
[...]
At the end of 1940, Lehi agents met with an official from the German foreign ministry in Beirut. The document they offered proposed, among other things, cooperation between the Jewish militia and the Nazis. It proposed Lehi’s “active participation in the war on Germany’s side,” citing a “partnership of interests” between “the German worldview and the true national aspirations of the Jewish people.”
Also written in the document was that “the establishment of the historical Jewish state on a totalitarian national basis, in an alliance relationship with the German Reich, is compatible with the preservation of German power.”

Wie die Haganah 1948 kämpfte (von einem eingebetteten amerikanischen Kriegskorrespondenten)
Elder of Ziyon, 13.

there are a lot of goyim esp from other Marginalised backgrounds that are taking the wrong lessons away from the fact that it turns out that a group of primarily socialist/communist people from an extremely oppressed cultural group with deep ties to an area are in fact more than capable of founding a regional settler colonial ethnostate in that area, a state that was capable of the mass dislocation and then intergenerational imprisonment of hundreds of thousands and then millions of people, and that while many non Jews feel morally pure and free of this ideology, the reality of the situation should terrify everyone
#Like a lot of you would have gotten into it#I have a longer post in me about how tziyonut is probably the colonial ideology most reflected in a bunch of decolonial circles tha#That consider themselves free of this ideology#But if there’s anything I’ve learned in the last week it’s that people take ethnic signposting#Over actual considerations of ideology#Like I think a lot of the weirdness around tziyonut is the fact that people see it as the ultimate big bad in violent ideologies and als#And also something wierd and jewy?#They can feel comfy decrying an ideology that isn’t *theres*#But digging into the ideology and history that is the profound moral tragedy of how a specific plan put forward for the liberation of on#Oppressed people ended up in the mass oppression and displacement of another#Yields a situation that is much more morally taxing and uncomfortable for everyone#I’m seeing stuff about how an oppressed people has right to limitless force and there are no civillians in the enemey#That would have done absolute numbers with the haganah#Like. According to Sefer Toldot Ha-Haganah, the official history of the Haganah, villages inside the Jewish state that resisted “should be destroyed...and their inhabitants expelled beyond the borders of the Jewish state.” Meanwhile, “Palestinian residents of urban quarters which dominate access to or egress from the towns should be expelled beyond the borders of the Jewish state in the event of their resistance.”

CE 1947: Footage of immigrant ship arriving at Haifa
The SS President Warfield, renamed Exodus 1947, was carrying illegal immigrants and approached Haifa with a ‘Haganah Ship’ banner. The ship was followed by a British destroyer. The footage includes images of refugees in cramped quarters, the ship arriving at the harbour, and displaced persons and British soldiers disembarking, some of whom were wounded.

hey @haganah-irregulars notice how i didn't specify what organization i was talking about? and how i tagged it with "palestinian liberation"? that's bc this doesn't just apply to medinas yisrael. you're a terf and an islamophobe. this post is about people like you. you don't get to pretend you agree with it when your entire ideology is based off disinformation. fuck off
reminder that disinformation is bad even when it furthers your narrative. if an organization is bad, you don't have to make up lies about it being bad. it's already bad literally just utilize the facts that are available to you
