Over the past few months I've been getting closer and closer to the conclusion that some of my social problems may in fact be partially solvable by simply moving to a bigger city.
The lack of a car is a part of this, but there's also some other shit.
Ever since the last time I was evicted into homelessness by a "leftist" for being unable to pay rent due to my disability, the "rigid values" autism has been hitting me really hard and I just can't stand being close friends with or dating most people anymore. It seems like most people, even leftists, are defensive of a homeowner's "right" (as it were) to rent out rooms in their house and then subsequently evict those people if and when they're unable to pay. I've even had to sever ties with people because they maintained amicable, unnecessary ties with landlords who own multiple properties (i.e. rent out space that is NOT connected to their primary residence).
I want to add that my most general definition of "landlord" includes people who rent out rooms inside their own place of residence. You are still using housing as capital to extract profit from other people. You're a landlord.
As someone who has been homeless multiple times and is aware of the harm that this extremely common disposition towards housing does to extremely vulnerable people, it often feels like I'm literally surrounded by enemies. Every time I start getting to know someone, I find myself instinctively trying to gauge how likely they'd be to look the other way if one of their buddies displaced a tenant (maybe me??) into homelessness.
I think it's partly a survival adaptation--to be hypervigilant about whether or not a new person, deep down, is a closeted property pervert who, when pressed to hold a loved one accountable, would ultimately defend the use of housing as capital over the use of housing to house people.
I especially feel this way when I meet a new person who is privileged enough to own a home: if they start renting a room out & using their control over their housing to profit off of others' need for housing (which is always parasitic & exploitative behavior), would they then force that other person into homelessness if their victim later became unable to cough up the cash?

Everyone,
It's time to WAKE UP and start asking those in your community how they're going to work to stop build-to-rent communities from becoming a mainstream housing option. This isn’t just an American housing issue either. It's become a problem in Canada, the UK, Ireland, and even Australia. Home developers are no longer looking to invest in building for sale home communities. No, corporations are investigating in housing properties to build with the intent to rent. Forever.
These developments aren't new homes for sale. They're not even rent to own communities. No, they're brand new houses/condos that are being built for the sole purpose of helping corporations make a profit now that commercial real estate has become such an unpredictable market.
Americans are already familiar with the apartment living build-to-rent model that has consumed so much of the housing market that it's just natural. For my European friends, they're shocked to hear just how many apartment buildings are built for the sole purpose of being a permanent rental building. Month to month rent that has already increased nearly 50% in just 5 years.
Don't sit on this issue. Don't buy into the grand scheme that economists put out there that this will help the housing crisis because it won't. All it will do is cripple a consumer's buying power more than it already has been since the pandemic.
Housing 👏 is 👏 not👏 for👏 corporate 👏 gain.

Good question!
No, Regina sold up! She needed the money to start paying off the other half of the apartment in Boston. Even though it was Emma's grandfather's property, she didn't want to take it as a handout. Emma already owns half through her grandfather and Regina is paying off the rest of her half. Not that Leopold is asking her to, of course, but you know headstrong Regina.
So the two of them technically own the apartment. They didn't really tell anyone, they thought people had assumed it was the case but no one did. Zelena certainly didn't. One night, Regina and Zelena went to dinner and Regina broke the news to her sister.

"So, where's blondie tonight? I like spending time with you alone, but I do miss her rude jokes."
"If you had to hear them every day, I'm sure you wouldn't miss it," Regina scoffed and shook her head. "She wanted some alone time. I don't mind, I prefer her having time to reflect on her own rather than getting up to mischief."
Zelena chuckled between sips of wine.
"Alone time? She's probably just wanking herself into a coma."
"Wanking…?" Regina's tone matched her confused expression. "She's not allowed to?"
The cheeky smile on the redhead’s face dropped slightly in equal confusion.
"Not allowed to?"
"Well, at least not without permission."
"Permission…?"
Regina smirked to herself as Zelena became temporarily confused.
“Unless she wants to be punished-----”
Regina's smirk turned to a laugh as Zelena finally realised what the brunette was saying, and made some dramatic flailing gesture with her hand to get her younger sister to stop whatever conversational route she was going down.
"Christ, you two give me more reasons to be homophobic every time I see you," the ginger physically shook the mental image from her head. “But, wait. She kicked you out of...your own house so she could have ‘alone time?’”
Regina's brows furrowed.
"It's her house too, Zee."
“But, you bought it from her grandfather?”
“I'm paying off the half in my name, but the other half is in her name.”
“So you two are homeowners?”
Zelena's neck craned forward a little, she was making sure she was hearing her sister correctly.
“Yeah, I guess we are.”
“And you haven’t gone shouting that from the rooftops?”
“Why would I do that? It’s a natural progression in a relationship.”
“Not this quickly?! You’re telling me that the flighty young woman you seduced two years ago has bought a house with you?”
“She’s not flighty anymore, she’s settled down now," Regina defended her baby girl, though she knew that what Zelena was saying carried some truth.
"Well... clearly. You're prematurely aging the girl, you cradle snatcher," Zelena said with a smile, no real bite in her tone. She raised her glass to clink with her sister's. "My poor blondie is going start bird watching and wearing orthopedic shoes soon at this rate..."

Back kitchens
AKA butler’s pantry or scullery, this separate space keeps secondary or backup items hidden from site, tidying up the more public area. Here you can house additional refrigeration and freezing, warming drawers, wine storage, lesser-used mechanical devices, formal entertaining dishes and cutlery, etc. Appliance garages have been around for a while, but they seem to be gaining popularity as another way to streamline kitchens.
Bespoke bedrooms and bathrooms
Behind the scenes, highly personalized spaces offer homeowners comfort and creative freedom. Feel free to layer these rooms with your favorite monogrammed fabrics, artwork, family photos, and heirlooms. Make it meaningful.
Casual luxury
It may sound like an oxymoron, but luxury doesn’t have to mean formal. Rather than opulent and imposing, choose comfortable, lived-in furniture that is still beautiful and lavish.
Bold wall treatments
Add depth and personality to walls by treating them as large canvases. Incorporate wallpaper, paneling, 3D wall coverings, stone or wood features, decorative molding. This is a take on dopamine decor – which continues to be popular – creative touches that make you feel good when you walk into a room.
Separated spaces
Demolishing interior walls to create all-in-one living/working/playing areas is seeing a bit of a reversal. Delineating spaces by incorporating walls that still have good flow through the use of doorways and openings allows for rooms with purpose and intention.
Mixed metals
This may come as a relief. Chrome, brass, black, copper, bronze – all can be used when harmoniously paired. Trying to keep up with what’s in shouldn’t mean having to change out plumbing fixtures annually!
Mixed materials
Kitchen countertops don’t have to be one solid matchy-matchy mass. Add interest and dimension to this horizontal space. Consider a mix of materials for visual, tactile and utilitarian variety – natural wood with granite, or quartz with sleek stainless steel.
Outdoors in
Windows seem to be taking center stage – becoming bigger and bigger. The view outside is more of a focal point than an after-thought. Biophilic design is also a way to get the feeling of nature inside your dwelling by adding large indoor plants and natural wood and stone finishes.
Mud-laundry rooms
Combining a laundry with a mudroom is a space-efficient idea. Storage components can serve double-duty: hooks, cabinets, cubbies and drawers.
Sustainability
Cheap, mass-produced furniture is becoming increasingly unpopular. People are gravitating toward quality pieces that are higher end and/or repurposed for a lesser environmental footprint.
