A mother's word for word transcription of the imaginary phone call her four-year-old made to Santa Claus in 1911.

Through some outrageous case of serendipity I found a recording of another phone call this same child made 60 years later. Though I have to say his choice of conversational partner is a definite downgrade from the first call.

#I've started using 'our bees are all dead' as my standard filler during lulls in conversation #and no I am not kidding #that is actually 64 year old George Arthur Lincoln in the recording #I'm writing up a bio of him that will hopefully be up within a few days #because this kid grew up to be involved in Forrest Gump levels of 20th century historical events #he was the youngest american general in wwii and was involved in the strategy of d-day and the planned invasion of Japan #he was at yalta and potsdam #he started a social sciences department at West Point #which resulted in his students being called commies because why should soldiers study culture and economics instead of shoot gun at thing #he ended up as the director of the office of emergency preparedness while nixon was president - hence the phone call #this poor man had to sit through so many meetings with Henry Kissinger #his younger brother (Waunce from the letter) was also a general #they were known as 'big abe' and 'little abe'

AU where the family insist on bringing Jason's identity back to life thinking that being in the public eye will make it more difficult for him to crime lord. Except every time they do he just very convincingly fakes his death (because fuck them. If they don't actually want him in the family then he's not giving it to them). It gets to the point that the public is convinced something is very wrong with the Waynes, who have tearfully welcomed their dead son/brother back to the living five times in a row. The three leading theories are:

- they're cloning him and the clones eventually kill themselves when they find out

- they're gaslighting/brainwashing body doubles to believe they are a dead guy (who then kill themselves when they remember their actual lives)

- the family falls for it every time a half convincing conman approaches them saying he's the dead kid, and they kill him when they find out the deception, making it look like a suicide to avoid further investigation.

#the ones who have seen red hood's face assume he was the first rogue clone. either that or they brainwashed a crime lord who looked somewhat #like the kid. the guy went back to crimelording it up once he regained his memories #Bruce doesn't know how to fix this PR nightmare because Jason's death acenes are VERY convincing #he might actually be dying. you can pry that headcanon from my dead cold hands #at this point it should be better if the family just quit but that would require them to accept defeat so it'll take a while #batman #jason todd #red hood

Orson Scott Card: Two of the most interesting books you’ll ever read if you’re willing to look past a handful of things. And then you find the planet of Chinese people who worship having debilitating OCD. And the Mormonism. And the fact that the author is wildly homophobic and ought to read his own books.

Robert Heinlein (or at least the Wikipedia Summaries): I guess that’s a neat concept—oh, it’s a sex thing. Um. Gotcha.

Ray Bradbury: Man, I gotta read this thing for class huh. Well here’s hoping it’s good! *three hours later* oh. that’s why he’s famous. this will stick with me forever and I will never look at the phrase ‘soft rain’ the same again. christ. And then repeat 3x.

Isaac Asimov: Wow, this is such an interesting concept! I wonder how the exploration of it will influence the plot! Wait, hey, are you going to add any characters? Any of em? No like, with character traits other than ‘robot psychologist’ and ‘autistic’ and ‘woman’? None of em? No, ‘detective’ isn’t a character trait. Those are all just facts. Aaaand now I’m bored.

Ursula K. Le Guin: Hah, get a load of this guy! He’s never heard of nonbinary people before. one of the fundamental issues i see with post-resurrection barry allen is that both writers and fans need to elevate him to a more “powerful” position than wally to prove he’s better or equal to his flash. but like. that's not how barry functions as a character. barry is a creative problem solver who doesn't need speed because he uses his powers as a secondary tool in preference to his mind. meanwhile, wally is far more intuitive and his powers work as an extension of his own consciousness so he'll resort to speed first and a viable plan of action second. to remove this characteristic from barry and make him so reliant on speed inadvertantly proves that he can't stand on his own BECAUSE of this constant comparison. tldr; barry shouldn't be the fastest most specialist speedster to ever have been created because he has his own strengths apart from speed mcgee wally and so engages with the audience differently to begin with.

#see all the silver age flash issues where barry pulls random shit out of a hat and wins the fight by vibrating his molecules or whatever #whereas in the issue where wally isn't fast enough to save the helicopter he has to be reminded about other methods he can use #so like there is no point to hype barry's speed b/c 1) why should his audience care when he appeals more towards detective / cop type beats #and 2) he isn't ever going to be as fast as wally in popular consciousness b/c wally fans never stfu about it #anyway this is my thesis statement as to why barry is slower than wally lmao i have a bias so what #overall the need to justify barry's return is so lame like ofc he was better off dead but u brought him back so do smth cool w/ him now? sm #barry allen #wally west #.mine
