Nobody's Baby: A Steddie Dirty Dancing AU where Steve "Baby" Harrington meets jaded dance instructor Eddie and finds out that love and trust are dance partners.

“He’s cool. He helped me carry a watermelon,” Robin chirps, heading toward the tables of food.

The guy looks at Steve again, he’s got a toothpick in the corner of his mouth and he chews on it, rolling it from one side to the other. He’s like, insanely sexy.

“I carried a watermelon,” Steve repeats, dumbly. The man raises his eyebrow and Chrissy snorts a laugh behind her hand.

“Steve, this is Eddie, my dance partner. Eddie, this is Steve. He’s a guest but he’s a nice one,” Chrissy tugs on Eddie’s hand but not to leave, just to signal to him maybe? A reminder to be nice and not eat the guests.

Steve ups the anti on just how stupid he can look but finger waving. Eddie huffs out a scoff and turns away, tugging Chrissy with him back to the dance floor.

Steve mouths, “I carried a watermelon?” at their backs, slapping himself in the forehead as he follows where Robin had gone.

He finds her at the table, not cutting the watermelon. There’s a guy there loudly reminding her she’s not allowed near the knives and she says, “yeah yeah yeah, shut it.” Before turning to Steve, “Hey Dingus, I added two more tallies for you. One in the You Rule column for helping me with my melons.” She leers and he balks. “And the other in the You Suck column for drooling over Eddie. Gross.”

“I was not!” He hisses even though he totally was. Whatever.

*rubs my little paws together* there are a few, but let me tell you specifically about my two beautiful boys, puck & wyll. i will try to make this brief, but um. well, we'll see about that. for context, a lot of this comes from a like, 700-page roleplay i have with my bestie carol (of iago darlington creator fame) so there's a LOT going on here.

basically, wyll thinks puck is great at first. he has very similar morals, similar beliefs. he's silly, he's sweet. he always says the right things. and then he sees puck in action. which is almost completely contradictory to everything he seems to say or believe, and i think this is very frustrating to wyll. he knows puck wants to do the right thing, and he knows he is trying his best. he WANTS to like him, but like. c'mon, man... why are you playing in the guts right now...

meanwhile puck kind of puts wyll on a pedestal as the ideal hero that he aspires to be & tends to be very shy/anxious around him. he thinks wyll can literally do no wrong ever. which is MORTIFYING for him as someone who desperately wants to be good but can't. but he also TRUSTS wyll so, so much. he knows wyll takes him seriously when he says "Hey I Am So Dangerous Something is Really Wrong with Me" so he actually asks him to kill him if he ever goes too far <- i feel like the joker about this

BUT OH WAIT. WHAT'S THIS? ANOTHER LAYER TO THEIR DYNAMIC?

ENTER IAGO. iago is puck's twin. in my rp w/ carol, they join the party in act 2, and long story short their stupid ass doesn't tell their amnesiac brother that they're related because they see he's trying to become a better person & wants to preserve his new innocence etc etc.

BUT iago also gets really close to wyll. they're like madly in love with him, and he's madly in love with them. and basically they tell him EVERYTHING about their relationship with puck (WHICH IS INSANE BTW. HE TRIES TO KILL THEM EVERY DAY. BUT THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO SO MUCH THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. LISTEN TO ME) by complete accident via wild magic surge truth serum moment LOL. so wyll starts to um. resent puck quite a lot. because puck used to beat his crush with hammers every day.

so their interactions just get increasingly more unpleasant. they go from awkward to tense to hostile by the time you get to act 3. this doesn't make any sense i don't think but just trust me. i love their dynamic i'm about to spin in circles over it rn excuse me
