H7 bird flu detected at third poultry farm in Australia

H7 bird flu was detected at a third poultry farm near Melbourne, but the Victoria state government claimed it was not the strain raising fears of human transmission.

The government also reported the destruction of hundreds of thousands of birds after detecting the flu at two Australian egg farms last month, according to Reuters.

The third farm is a few kilometres away from the first one that reported the infection. Both farms reportedly have the same strain of the H7N3 virus. The other farm, meanwhile, had the H7N9 strain, according to the state government.

Local authorities placed all three farms under quarantine with restrictions on travelling in surrounding areas, Graeme Cooke, Victoria’s chief veterinary officer, reported.

The detection of avian influenza at this additional property is not unexpected and is the result of ongoing surveillance activities within the Restricted and Control Areas.

However, the H7 bird flu outbreak poses no risk to consumers of eggs and poultry products, the government has assured. Since 1976, Australia has recorded nine outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), all contained and stamped out.

In recent years, another strain of bird flu, H5N1, has swept around the world. It has also spread to dozens of mammalian species and through cattle herds in the United States. It has also infected three people in the US and one in Australia.

Australia recorded the first case of a child contracting the bird flu on May 22. Authorities speculate that he may have got the virus in India.

Kenny’s Birthday - A Timeless Side Piece

“GET DOWN!” You yelled

Gunfire rang out in the bowling alley as screams echoed throughout the building. Kenny dove behind the bowling ball shelves along with his friends. Catching a glimpse around the corner of the shelf he saw his mom run out of the building with all the other patrons. 

“Thanks mom…” Kenny mumbled

Looking around all that was left was himself, his friends, and the remaining members of the Umbrella Academy. This was not how Kenny expected to spend his birthday. Granted, having his birthday party at a bowling alley was in no way his idea. His ideal birthday would be getting drunk with his friends and play just dance at Dean’s house but obviously that wasn’t happening. Kenny wasn’t expecting both the world to end and to be getting shot at in a bowling alley but it was better than the actual party he had been having. As the Umbrella Academy fought back against the gunmen, Kenny gathered in a circle with his friends. 

“We gotta stop them,” Addison says

Kenny agreed with that. Not only would it be the first really fun thing he’s done on his birthday but he couldn’t just let these guys run around with guns shooting at people. You’ve all done this before, it would be no big deal. Kenny looked towards you as the leader of the group to hear what you had to say.

“Not this time.” You command firmly

Not this time? Kenny didn’t understand. You had never backed down from a fight before.

“We’ve fought gunmen before on multiple occasions, we can handle these guys.” Lucas states

“No!” You shouted “These are not just some run-of-the-mill criminals. These bastards are trained assassins. They will kill you without hesitation and I will not have that.”

There was an emotion in your voice that he had never heard before. Fear. You were scared for them, for their lives. The world was falling apart and you were worried about them. Kenny and the rest of the group all looked at each other, acknowledging the same thing. This was a non-negotiable situation. Everyone looked back at you as the gunfire rained over you all. Kenny noticed as Dean stared at you, the look of worry for you on his face was reminiscent of the time you were in a coma. If anyone in the group knew what you were thinking it was him, and he didn’t look happy.

“What’s the plan?” Dean asks

also on that note, absolutely insane to me that you see people on this site bemoan the ‘lionisation’ of henry vii. like, by who? this insistence that henry vii is popularly regarded as anything other than a tyrannical miser is just outright dishonesty. if any tudor propaganda/‘villification’ was successful, surely it was moreso henry viii’s against his own father, than any action taken against richard iii. as another blog pointed out: #ricardians: 'everyone remembers henry vii as the hero'#'and richard iii as the villain'#... they don't?#even in shakespeare's play henry is barely there#(which is alright: a hero story is not what bill#had set out to do when he wrote richard iii)#so how is that for some everlasting propaganda
