The ORX-005 Gaplant
With more incursions on Earth itself by Zeon remnant factions and other militant groups, the Federation sought a solution to the issue of MS mobility under gravity. While any mobile suit could make use of a sub-flight unit - such as the Dodai or Base Jabber - they were generally unreliable in combat situations, with rapid maneuvering potentially causing riders to lose balance.
Federation engineers began doing what they do best, and eventually produced the RX-78E Gundam GT-FOUR to serve as a proof of concept.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The machine - while plagued with issues - proved the viability of variable mobile suits, and was considered a success. With this success, the team was given the green light to continue development of variable machines.
Tumblr media
The ORX-003 Domingo was one such machine, and would serve as the basis for development going forward. The Domingo stood at an impressive 25 meters in order to accommodate its transformation mechanism. It boasted an impressive mobile suit to mobile armor transformation time of under five seconds, but needed almost a full ten seconds to transform back.
The ORX-005 Gaplant saw its first deployment in UC 0085 as a joint project between the Augusta and Oakland research labs, incorporating lessons learned from the Domingo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While the issue of unassisted flight was unimportant in space, the Gaplant was developed with space use in mind. Its MA mode was able to make use of the Active Mass Balance Auto-Control (AMBAC) system almost as efficiently as the MS mode, affording it extreme maneuverability.
Tumblr media
However, this maneuverability came at a steep cost, and most pilots were unable to handle the intense g-force exerted on them in combat maneuvers. The Gaplant could only be handled by so-called Cyber-Newtypes, thanks to their enhanced bodies.
The Gaplant saw use during the Gryps conflict, where it was fielded by the Titans. At least two standard units are known to have existed at the time - piloted by Rosamia Badam and Yazan Gable respectively, with an unknown number of modified and/ or experimental units.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Gaplant was also extensively experimented with by the Titans Test Team, resulting in a number of unconventional units, with some eventually falling into the hands of Zeon remnant groups. Recovered Gaplant prototypes were even modified and fielded by groups such as Karaba and the AEUG.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In UC 105, a group of hijackers used a Gaplant to approach and board Haunzen flight 356.
Tumblr media
Known sightings of the Gaplant later on are rare. Notably, in U.C. 203, the wreckage of a Gaplant inspires Afranche Char to fight the Federation when it washes up on the shore of his home island.
The ORX-005 Gaplant was originally designed by Kazumi Fujita for the 1985 anime Moblie Suit Zeta Gundam.

UC Gundam is funny because the only qualifying statistic for whether something is classified as a Gundam is solely if it is named “Gundam.” The Gundam GP04 being half-finished, then finished and given a different aesthetic? Well now it’s called the Gerbera Tetra, so now it’s NOT a Gundam! Give a GM Quel a Gundam head? Well, since the Titans call it a Gundam Hazel, now it’s a Gundam! Anaheim develops a prototype called the Gamma Gundam that’s then renamed to the Prototype Rick Dias? Guess what buck-o, now that’s NOT a Gundam!
It’s even funnier when you consider designs that were meant to look similar to a Gundam that aren’t a Gundam. The Hrairoo looks the part for a Gundam, but I don’t see a Gundam in its name so not a Gundam! Yeah, it was developed from the Gaplant, which in turn was developed from the RX-78E Gundam GT-FOUR, which was a GUNDAM but whatever. Some suits like the Dijeh and the Gabthley would look pretty Gundam-like with the tri-color scheme, but no relation to any Gundam there.
All I’m saying is that this reminds me of Plato defining a man as a featherless biped and Diogenes running in with a plucked chicken screaming “BEHOLD, A MAN!” except Plato describes a Gundam as anything we call “Gundam” and Diogenes running in with a Zock.

13 MP Camera Differences 📷 - Honor 8C [left] 📱& Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 [right]📱
So far so good, I’ve been using my newly fresh smartphone prize for about 5 days since I turned on the power while I recording (which you can see it in my “Previous” below). 😊
Now all that aside, I would like to talk about the image differences as the name title I made.🙂
So, without further a do let’s get started:
• Please see the four different photos I took.
• Both Honor 8C [left] and Galaxy S4 [right] are now set to ‘13 MP’ camera.
• On the left - I set Honor 8C’s 13MP camera to ‘AI Mode’.
• On the right - as always I set in ‘Night Mode’ for Samsung Galaxy S4.
- Differences -
• The Honor 8C’s Camera AI Mode has a light white detail for my SD Gundam Cross Silhouette RX-78-2 and my artwork paper of “Rescued and Hospitalized”.
• While on the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S4′s Camera Night Mode has a bit blue-ish and a bit lack of white color detail. I know, you’ve seen this a lot since 2018.
• The overall color balance (as in My Gunplas, Paper Dolls and all), the Honor 8C’s Camera [AI Mode] did the good job, a bit than the Samsung Galaxy S4′s Camera [Night Mode]. Because for 8C’s image has a bit faded, but it looks decent.
• When it comes to details, the Samsung Galaxy S4′s camera [Night Mode] takes the spot, because I payed attention of my Awei Y-200 bluetooth speaker and the half screen of the Lenovo laptop had a bit detail than the Honor 8C’s camera [AI Mode].
• Some of the parts for Honor 8C’s camera [AI Mode] has a blur and washed out like a messed up watercolor / color oil pastel, and unlike Samsung Galaxy S4′s camera [Night Mode] which is a bit more detail background - heck I could see that Mimi’s and Kate’s [from PlayKids characters] face I made from the background.
• When it comes to color match, the Honor 8C’s camera [AI Mode] takes a the spot than the Samsung Galaxy S4′s camera [Night Mode]. Although you’ve already seen my other previous photos many times of me using the Galaxy S4, so it’s a mixed color depending on the focus camera. But don’t worry, I’d just getting started of using the Honor 8C’s camera though so hopefully I could get more shots in the future. (And if only I could more to get a 128gb micro SD card with a class 10 with above feature).
• I’ve already discuss of their white and hue balance(as I called it) differences, and so when it comes to artwork line-art detail it seems the Samsung Galaxy S4′s [Night Mode] has more detailed lining than the Honor 8C’s Camera [AI Mode].
Overall: They’re both good, they’re shared some trading colors, details and all. Now I won’t say the smartphone’s camera is better than the other because, I gonna need more shots of using the Honor 8C and hopefully I could try be more criticized about the image differences between two of my current smartphone cameras.
IMPORTANT NOTE - Please see my two portrait photos below: I’ve just noticed something on my new Honor 8C’s 13MP camera; there’s a teeny-tiny dust ( or something[?] ) inside of that camera lens, although there’s no way to get rid off that smallest dust it doesn’t seem effect / a bit blocked when I taking a photos as my first try and doesn’t seem bothered me at all (well a bit sometimes). Hopefully I could wish somehow find the way to wiping out that tiniest dust in a peaceful way rather than dissembled and followed instructions, but nevertheless. I’ll be ordered a camera protective glass as a must...
So that’s all I could say now. 🙂
And in case that you missed my other photos related to my Honor 8C, then please check out below. ↓

BASTARD!! –Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- Anime Reveals Teaser PV, Additional VAs, OP/ED Theme Performers
The official website for the forthcoming new anime adaptation of Kazushi Hagiwara's dark fantasy manga BASTARD!! –Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- has posted a teaser PV introducing highlight scenes from the first five episodes along with a heavy and powerful soundtrack music by Yasuharu Takanashi (Team-MAX).
youtube
a legend has awakened!! here's a first look at BASTARD‼ -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- coming to Netflix in 2022!! ¡Se despierta una leyenda! ¡Bastard!! llega a Netflix en 2022! pic.twitter.com/V8aJgLB8k9
— Netflix Anime (@NetflixAnime) February 10, 2022
The site has also announced four additional voice cast members:
Lushe Renren: Kanae Ito (Nanami Nanase in Gundam Build Divers)
I'm Kanae Ito, and I'll be playing the role of Lushe Renren! My first impression of Lushe was that he was very pure and a boy who I wanted to protect. He is the opposite of Dark Schneider, so I wanted to play him with a lot of cuteness and innocence! Please look forward to it!
Abigail: Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki Sakata in Gintama)
Anime adaptation?? BASTARD?? Seriously!!?? And when I was chosen to play Abigail, I felt like I smiled as the character did. I will be happy if I can face the role with sincerity and add color to the anime.
Kall-Su: Kensho Ono (Tetsuya Kuroko in Kuroko's Basketball)
I'm Kensho Ono, and I will be playing the role of Kall-Su. Kall-Su, who is in a position of conflict with Dark Schneider, has a calm personality and possesses overwhelming magical power among the Four Generals. I will do my best to add flowers to this charming character. Please support us!
Sheila Twell Metallicana: Nao Toyama (Rin Shima in Laid-Back Camp)
I'm Nao Toyama, and I will be playing the role of Sheila. This work has many exciting highlights, such as dynamic action and glamorous scenes. What I am personally looking forward to during the recording is the diabolical enemy characters. The senior voice actors are playing them very vividly, showing their amazing ability. It's breathtaking...! In the age of Reiwa, I will do my best to deliver the new charm of "BASTARD!" Please look forward to it!
The OP theme song is performed by the five-member Japanese loud rock band coldrain. The band was formed in Nagoya in 2007 by Masato (Vo), Y.K.C (Gt), Sugi (Gt), RxYxO (Ba) and Katsuma (Dr). They have expanded their activities both domestically and internationally, and have performed not only at domestic festivals, but also at large international festivals such as DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL (UK). On February 1 and 2, 2020, they held their first organized festival "BLARE FEST. 2020" at Port Messe Nagoya, which invited artists from Japan and overseas, and tickets were sold out immediately, with 40,000 people attending on the two days.
We are honored to be in charge of this important opening song. We join the world of BASTARD!! with a song that can compete with the power of the original manga has, the passion of the creators, and most importantly, Dark Schneider. We would appreciate your support!
The ED theme song is performed by female singer Tielle, who has a voice that is both delicate and powerful. Influenced by her father who is a pianist, she grew up in contact with music from an early age. After living alone in New York, she decided to send out music that transcends borders, gender, and race to the world. After returning to Japan, she began her career as a solo singer. In 2015, she was recognized for her abilities in a vocal audition held by Hiroyuki Sawano, a theatrical composer, then was selected as a guest vocalist for the opening theme song "Into the Sky" for the TV animation Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096.
I am truly honored to participate in this great work as an ED theme singer. In my own way, I wanted to express the world view of the work and the strong will of the main character that could shine in the darkness. I will be happy if you enjoy the music as well as the anime. Thank you.
The anime BASTARD!! –Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- is set to be streamed for two cours with 24 episodes on Netflix world wide in 2022.
    Teaser visual:
    Main voice cast:
Dark Schneider: Kisho Taniyama (Chuya Nakahara in Bungo Stray Dogs)

Anime I have seen all the way through at least once.
I was talking about anime with a friend and I started thinking about how many series I’ve actually seen all the way through. The following anime listed are the ones I could think of off the bat. There are probably one or two more, but eh.
Zoids (All four series)
Gurren Lagann
Outlaw Star
Tokyo Mew Mew
Gundam Build Fighters (Both series and the special)
Pokemon Indigo League
Dragon Ball / Z / GT
Kantai Collection (I guess this counts?)
To Love Ru (Original and Motto)
Black Rock Shooter TV ver.
Gundam Wing
Gundam 00 (Excluding the movie)
G Gundam
Yugioh (Duel Monsters)
Code Geass (R1 and R2)
Lucky Star
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Full Metal Panic Fumoffu
Seikon no Qwaser
I haven’t actively watched many anime as a whole, as one can see, and some of these were just weird indulgences that happened within the last 7 years (Such as TLR and BRS).
EDIT: FMP:F and Seikon added because they count--

"Majin Buu was ridiculously strong, there's no way I could've stopped him on my own. And you never know, one day someone even stronger can show up. So I've got to keep training, to keep you guys safe."
-          Goku, Dragon Ball Super (Ep. 01)
“Toonami and Dragon Ball. We go together like peanut butter and jelly.”
-          Sonny Strait, the voice of Krillin and TOM 1.
The Toonami Trending Rundown for January 7-8, 2017. We kick 2017 off with a bang with the long awaited premieres of Dragon Ball Super and DBZ Kai’s Buu Saga in addition to the TV premiere of Gundam Unicorn. And what a night it was. As a result, Toonami and every show successfully trended in the US during their respective East Coast airings, in addition to Dragon Ball Super and JoJo’s trending during the West Coast airing.
And in the case of #DragonBallSuper, saying that it trended might be an understatement, as the show began trending in the US during the primetime airing at 8, and quickly going up to the #1 spot in the US trends, and continuing to trend through the Toonami airing at 11:30 (and all this despite the buzz of the first day of the NFL Playoffs going on at the same time), in addition to even trending worldwide briefly.
DBZ’s buzz would also create a character trend in Gohan as on Super, Gohan gets married to Videl, so Goten and Trunks look for a wedding present for them, while on DBZ Kai, Gohan enrolls to High School in Satan City, but on his way he stops a bank robbery. Though going Super Saiyan sealed his identity somewhat, the news about the “Golden Fighter” stopping crimes around the city ever since Gohan’s arrival and his early struggles in fitting in has made Videl very suspicious.
Finally, Dragon Ball Super’s buzz was enough to make Nielsen Social’s daily top five most talked about shows on Facebook and Twitter on that day, making it to #1 for the very first time. This is also the 8th time we’ve seen this occur for a Toonami show, the first time this has occurred outside of summer, and the first time this has happened since Facebook was integrated into their analytics. Overall, it’s definitely a great start, especially for a show that’s been long awaited in Dragon Ball Super, and here’s to many more weeks like this going forward.
Tumblr media
This upcoming March will mark Toonami’s 20th anniversary, and among other things, Toonami will be showcasing the Production IG microseries, Sand Whale and Me. Directed by Mamoru Oshii of Ghost in the Shell fame, the microseries is a 25-minute, 5-part short film, with each part to be shown weekly beginning on March 18th. In addition, Toonami is looking into having a throwback look for the month of March, with 4 options from four different eras during Toonami’s original run. The options can be seen below, and if you wish to cast your vote, comment on their Facebook post here.
Tumblr media
Several Toonami shows will be making it onto the silver screen over the next few months, including One Piece Film Gold, which premiered in select theaters on Tuesday, with showtimes going through the 17th. If you’re interested and a showing is available near where you live, go check it out and give your support to the anime industry on the big screen.
Likewise for Ordinal Scale, as Aniplex is beginning to sell tickets for the upcoming film, which is set to be released in select theaters on March 9, 2017. Click here to check your local theaters for showtimes and tickets.
youtube
Those keeping up with simulcasts might know that on Friday, the season 2 premiere of Blue Exorcist premiered in Japan. The first season had a successful run on the better cartoon show back in 2014, and we could see this as a potential candidate to make it’s return when the show’s dub is produced in the months ahead. We’ll keep an eye on any further developments, but in the meantime if you want to check out the new season now, new episodes are available to watch legally at Crunchyroll and Daisuki. A little quick note for those planning to watch: since the last 8 episodes of Blue Exorcist season 1 considerably diverged from the manga, the new season ignores those events, so for those wishing to restart from episode 1, you only need to watch the first 17 episodes (or the first 4 volumes of the manga) to get caught up.
Finally, no word on Samurai Jack as of yet, though in preparation of the upcoming season, Adult Swim will rerun Samurai Jack episodes starting next week at 8:30pm Eastern, following the Dragon Ball Super prime time premiere.
Tumblr media
2016 sure was a memorable one for the block, with the successful airing of Intruder 3, as well as the successes of all the great shows to have aired on the block in the past year. We revisited an old classic in Samurai Champloo as well as saw some new experimentation with the broadcast dub of Dimension W. We saw that good things indeed come to those who wait when the Gundam franchise made its grand return for the first time 12 years with Iron Blooded Orphans, and after many years of waiting, both Hunter x Hunter and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure respectively got over the hump to finally air on the better cartoon show. We saw that nothing is really impossible with the airing of Children Who Chase Lost Voices, which gives a glimmer of hope for the future prospects of movies on the block. And the success of One Punch Man among others continue to remind us of the potential of how big and great anime can be and that more great things may still be to come.
And with the successful premieres of Dragon Ball Super, the Buu Saga, and Gundam Unicorn, 2017 is off to a great start. Super finally got it’s English Dub and Toonami debut after a year and a half wait since the series started airing in Japan, bringing in the first new Dragon Ball series to US shores in since Dragon Ball GT aired on Toonami 11 years ago (movies and Kai aside). The Final Chapters meanwhile brings DBZ Kai’s Majin Buu arc to US shores, something long awaited since Toonami brought back DBZ in 2014, and even longer for those who watched Kai from the get-go when it originally aired on Nicktoons and the Kai DVDs. And the Gundam franchise now has it’s second title since Toonami’s revival in Unicorn, the newest addition to the Universal Century timeline and a title well requested since the original OVAs were being produced earlier in the decade, which has been converted into a 22 episode TV series for broadcast.
The new year always brings new beginnings, and we have some pretty exciting times ahead as the block reaches its 20th anniversary, with new shows and other surprises yet to come, in addition to the current arsenal of shows. And with Toonami back on the air for almost 5 years now and anime going back on the upswing, things are looking up and there’s plenty of anticipation to see what’s next in the year ahead. But of course keep watching as always and help keep those ratings and overall buzz up so we can keep this train going for years to come.
Until next week, congratulations to Clemson on winning the National Championship, and stay gold.
