Both Tifa and Sephiroth have their doubt about themselves, about what they want, that they're aware that there's something wrong with them/their action.

But while Tifa avoids anticipating in things she doesn't believe in

or asks for help (in this case from Cloud).

And when the consequence hits, Tifa takes full responsibility for it.

Yet she doesn't give up on herself.

Sephiroth, on the other hand, locks himself up,

clings onto whatever can justify his doubt,

and at the end, let it dominate his reasons and humanity.

and never considers himself the one in the wrong again.

Tifa, despite all of her anger, sadness, and painful memories, refuses to let them shape her entirely. She still sees the world as something worth love and fighting for. There's still hope.

Sephiroth however, with all his anger, sadness, and painful memories, burns the world down himself. In his eyes, his will is absolute truth over everything else. What would wait for him at the end but emptiness?

Bro’s sadder expressions were deliberate, we weren’t crazy. He didn’t shut down all of his emotions. He felt sad about losing himself and becoming a monster and unleashing hell and bloodshed but he just “burnt the sadness away” and walked into the flames, throwing all of his humanity away for the last time and that’s what this scene means…

The streets of Midgar were bathed in an eerie, unnatural twilight. The towering structures of the city seemed to stretch endlessly into the sky, their cold metal surfaces glistening faintly under the faint glow of the mako reactors. But something was wrong. The sun should have risen hours ago. Instead, a heavy, foreboding darkness clung to the air, like the city itself was holding its breath.

Tifa Lockhart stood in the center of the abandoned street, her fists clenched, her heart racing. Her sharp brown eyes darted around, scanning the empty surroundings. She could feel it — something was here, lurking just beyond the edge of reality, watching her. The wind carried whispers, strange distortions in the air, and the shadows twisted unnaturally around her feet.

She took a deep breath, the weight of her leather gloves familiar and comforting as she flexed her hands. Her body was tense, muscles coiled and ready to strike, but it wasn’t just the physical threat she was worried about. There was something more sinister at play here. Something beyond the realm of what she had ever faced.

Suddenly, the atmosphere shifted. A cold breeze swept down the street, cutting through her as if the very air had turned to ice. The shadows on the ground deepened, swirling and converging in front of her. Slowly, they began to rise, twisting and stretching into a form that defied logic. The figure that emerged from the darkness was tall, impossibly thin, and featureless. Its body was draped in shadow, a being of pure blackness, but the air around it warped and shimmered, as if time itself was bending to its will.

Tifa's breath caught in her throat. She had faced all kinds of monsters—humans, mutants, and creatures born from Shinra's experiments. But this… this was different. This thing wasn’t of this world. It wasn’t bound by the same laws of nature she knew.

The creature took a step forward, and the world around it seemed to ripple, like a stone dropped into still water. Tifa braced herself, her feet shifting into a defensive stance. She couldn’t afford to hesitate.
