My (maybe) unpopular opinions about outerbanks!!!

༒ No words can describe how much I loathe Groff. I knew something bad was gonna happen the moment he said “I believe in you JJ” like that was mad weird. Plus JJ gave you the crown, why’d he have to take JJ too??

༒ when Sarah says to rafe “bc im all you got left” makes me laugh bc they act like wheezie ain’t alive somewhere. (Yes I’m well aware rose took her and left)

༒ Sarah Cameron is MY girl but I don’t give a damn that Sarah was looking for some normal sense of stability. She had no right to cheat on John b like that! Especially after everything they endured.

༒ Why did no one rock Ruthie’s shit??? I would’ve backhanded into another dimension. And don’t get me started on what she did to those baby turtles. That was pure evil.

༒ I absolutely loved Sofia (rafe’s gf). Everyone talks mad shit on her but I would’ve done the same thing if I caught you talking shit about me too.

༒ I have conflicted feelings about topper bc don’t get me wrong. He was wrong for burning down John b’s house. He was wrong for trying to drown John b and trying to get the pogues new home, BUT, Sarah led him on for months which made him do the crazy shit to begin with.

༒ Rafe Cameron is a walking red flag. And y’all excuse his behaviors bc you find him attractive. “Well he was just misunderstood” nah girlypop. You can only use the ‘misunderstood’ bullshit card for so long before you realize rafe Cameron is doing what he wants bc no one will stop him. When he said “I have problems” I had respect for him. BUT then he kills sherif peterkin, tries to kill kie, takes the gold (that belongs to pope), melts it down, and sells it. Tried to drown his sister and shot his sister and didn’t feel bad about it. Fck rafe Cameron til the day I die. Idc.

༒ rafe Cameron didn’t actually have character development in season 4, he just wasn’t after the pogues. He was after Groff not the pogues.

༒ I didn’t like big John. How tf you gonna leave your son at home to go search for gold, go missing, end up being alive the whole time and then when you do come back, all you do is keep secrets and cause chaos??? I wasn’t sad when he died.

༒ I think ward cameron really loved his kids, especially Sarah. And I think it’s really sad that his greed and pride ruined everything he had for him. I also believe it doesn’t matter if big John or ward was right during that argument on the boat.

༒Big John and ward cameron are just like each other. They both are greedy and manipulative and don’t care about the safety of others. And I believe there’s a high possibility of big John and Ward Cameron being friends if big John was a kook instead of a pogue .

༒vlad and Val was one of my favorite storylines in obx.

༒ idc, one of my favorite duos has to be JJ and Sarah Cameron. They really do give off brother/sister vibes.

༒ kie and JJ were MY End Game. You don’t have to agree but I like this ship. He was pining for her since season one and never thought he was good enough for her. And he went and saved her from the disciplinary camp and had that kiss. They went from “you are in love” to “last kiss”.

༒ season 2 episode 4 is one of the best episodes of obx!!!!

༒ Larissa Generate is one of the PRETTIEST moms of obx. I loved seeing the flashbacks of her and baby JJ. I loved seeing the flashback of Larissa and Luke. She was so kind and sweet and she settled for Groff smh.

༒ The best scene of obx 4 is JJ’s crashout scene.

༒JJ is the hottest character of season 4, argue with the damn wall idc.

༒JJ deserved a happy ending. You mean to tell me JJ went through all that abuse and suffering just to be killed in the end??? TBH I don’t care how it ends for the other pogues, as much as I love them, they aren’t JJ. I know it said that Kiara was the glue that held the pogues together, but I actually think it’s JJ. I think now that JJ is gone, the pogues are going to fall apart. They don’t have the wild card anymore. They don’t have the witty unpredictable with good intentions character.

༒ the fact that JJ’s character gets more hatred and blamed more than rafe’s character is crazy to me.

༒ young Luke Maybank was a great character. He was a great person for Larissa and baby JJ. However, I don’t believe that Larissa’s death was his crash out. I don’t believe that because you can see memories of JJ growing up and Luke being kind to him. Something else made Luke crash out in order to be abusive to JJ. And this might be extremely unpopular, but I truly believe Luke cared a little bit about JJ. 

༒ to the contrary of what everyone else may believe, Officer Shoop was not a bad police officer. He did always end up believing the kids. But the way the kids got the evidence would incriminate them as well.

༒ I actually do like Kiera in Outer Banks. I liked Kiara the most in season one and season two. However, I do think that she is a hypocrite for getting with all the Pogues before picking JJ. 

༒ in season four where the Pogues were in the water trying to quietly escape as the officers were looking for them, I think it’s so funny when JJ turns around with the knife in his mouth and says “murder?” Because he was so confused and had no idea that his dad was doing things and planting the evidence in JJ‘s name.

༒ i’m sick of seeing how Kiara‘s parents actually get flamed so much because they were actually good parents. Maybe some of you have to grow up to realize it. However, they were sick of their daughter, getting into dangerous situations that threatened her life and the alternative was if she didn’t listen, then she was gonna go away to a camp. Do I agree with sending her to a disciplinary Camp? No. But what other option did they have? they weren’t bad parents and you can argue with the wall about this.

༒  I saw somebody say that John B was the villain of the show and I don’t agree with that because his father disappeared and he deserved to find answers. However, I do believe the gold storyline should’ve ended when they found the gold. I also believe John B is going to have one of the worst crash outs in season five. That was his best friend. And I don’t believe that, John B and Sarah’s baby will actually be born. I think Sarah will suffer a miscarriage from all the stress.

༒ if there is any character that I’m concerned about in season five that character is Pope. pope was a great friend who threw his entire life away for his friends and he deserved to bring that gold artifact home. But I truly believe Pope is gonna have a very dangerous crash out and I don’t think Pope is gonna remain the same "let’s think this through " character.

༒Cleo and pope are so cute. It broke my heart for Cleo as her only father figure died and she couldn’t even pull the trigger on the guy who took her father’s life.

༒ I don’t think I’ll be able to watch season 5 bc it just won’t be the same. JJ is gone. Even if they avenge his name it still won’t be same, they’ll go home with one less person. I believe the entire town will feel the change. Poguelandia probably won’t exist anymore. And I’ll say it again, the pogues will fall apart. I wish kie and JJ went on that surf trip instead of building that home.

i just spent like an hour to solve linux problem again.. because my man page colors suddenly stopped working! and you can't have uncolorful man pages. 0_0

thankfully i had a second machine (my server) to compare outputs to..

i eventually tracked down the culprit, and it was groff being updated to version 1.23.0! seems totally unrelated to man, doesn't it¿ :)

now i have to figure out if i can solve this better than just downgrading it to 1.22.4

PS: i spent way too much time barking up the less tree, because the config variables are called LESS_TERMCAP_*

edit: you have to set the GROFF_NO_SGR environment variable to 1
