This is different. A flipper, proud of his work, posted some before & after photos of this 1925 house, in Greenfield, IN, on the listing. 3bds, 4ba, 3,504 sq ft, $769,900. Let us compare:

Well, it's been clearly reno'd before, so we don't know what it looked like originally. I do like that he switched it out and put the living room as the first room you enter thru the front door. But, I did like the archway, b/c it must've been an original architectural feature. Looks like the previous owners cut the other wall, so it doesn' t match, though.

The old kitchen was a hodgepodge of cabinetry.

The new kitchen is larger with a black & white motif. Gee, he put awfully large tiles on the backsplash, though. And, it looks like he splurged on the granite for the island, but went cheaper on the counters.

He gave it a nice new pantry and there's a laundry room, too.

New half bath. It's pretty roomy and needs some nice decor.

This is nice- a backdoor drop zone.

So, this must be the hall to the bedroom on the ground floor. Nice railings.

Spacious primary bedroom has sliders to the patio.

En-suite and closet.

Oh, upstairs is an attic type space.

It's nice to have a finished attic.

And, it also has a large bedroom and en-suite. Very nice private space up here. I like the black fixtures.

It's huge up here. Room for a couple more bedrooms.

Then downstairs there's a very large finished area, too. They've got some cabinetry with a wine cooler.

A space that can be used for a home gym.

Very nice shower room.

All of this looks new.

The laundry room is upstairs, so this must be a dog bath, plus a fridge and some cabinetry. Could be a nice workshop area.

Then, outside he redid the outbuildings.

Cute. It still looks like a little old barn.

Nice little shed.

3.04 acre lot. Looks like the largest plot of land in the neighborhood.

Spring 1916

Spring has arrived! The calendar has been saying it had been here for weeks, but today it really and truly made its presence known. The east field is awash with flowers and I simply had to stop and pick a bouquet, they had the sweetest scent and the most delicate yellow petals. Mamma was rather irritated that it made me a bit late coming home, but I can't very much see why. I was back with plenty of time to prepare supper (she had an Aide Society meeting) and the house smelled ever so sweet as I did. No one complained about my victual offerings either.

I am quite pleased to be done with the schoolhouse; sums and grammar were always ever so boring and pointless. It is ever so much better to spend the day with work that actually has to be done, rather than made up to torture us. I enjoy most housework, cooking and sewing in particular, but laundry... There's something about that specific task I have not yet resigned myself too.

I think we all have that particular chore that we dislike more than the others, though none of the adults will admit so to my face. Laundry is a necessary evil though, or we should all go around naked, as Adam and Eve did in the garden of Eden, and the climate her could never allow such an indulgence, so laundry we must do. 

It does feel good to be helping around the house more and take some of the burden off Mamma; I can't imagine how she did all this work on her own for years, it's quite a lot between the two of us. Despite my continued propensity to "dawdle" as Mamma puts it, she still sends me on all the errands, I think she likes having the house to herself just as much I like the walk into town. Sometimes Lydia accompanies me if her mother also needs something fetched.

The general store is the best store in town, it's filled floor to ceiling with everything you could ever need. Dottie's always mighty pleased to see us and if she's busy Mr. and Mrs. Greenfield are always so sweet to me. Sometimes Mr. Greenfield slips me penny candy in with my orders with a little wink.

Dottie, Lydia and I don't see each other as much as when we were in school, but now that we're older when we're finished with chores and housework we have so much more freedom to go on walks or sit down by the inlet. The sun hits the old dock down there in the afternoon and it's so pleasant, especially if there's a breeze coming off the water.

We chat about anything and everything; Dottie always has all the news of the town since she talks to just about everyone at the general store. Mamma says it's wrong to gossip, but she always says that after I've given her all the news. Lydia is such a hoot, she has the strongest opinions on everything and everyone. Just the other day she was informing (lecturing one might say) us on the proper etiquette for accepting a proposal; according to Mrs. Parr proper young ladies should never accept their first proposal, they must refuse and wait for the man to ask again, that's how she'll know he's serious and will make a good husband. Apparently she turned Mr. Parr down thrice. Dottie and I both thought that was completely silly. Mamma said yes to her first proposal and she seems quite content with her lot.

The Associated Press recently made headlines by falsely claiming that the Israeli campaign against Hamas “sits among the deadliest and most destructive in recent history” and was even worse than “the Allied bombing of Germany in World War II”.

The Washington Post argued that “Israel has waged one of this century’s most destructive wars in Gaza” while The Wall Street Journal contended that it was “generating destruction comparable in scale to the most devastating urban warfare in the modern record.”

That’s all the more impressive since even accepting the Hamas casualty figures (tainted and inflated numbers in which there are no terrorists, only civilians, and fighting age men are really children) as the media does, this is still probably one of the least violent conflicts in the region.

In 2016, the Washington Post described the Syrian Civil War, with a possible 250,000 deaths, as “the most destructive conflict in the region”. In 2020, the UN had called the Yemeni Civil War, with 150,000 deaths, “the most destructive conflict since the end of the Cold War”.

And then there’s the current phase of the war in Sudan (which the media is currently uninterested in) in which 15,000 people have been killed over the course of last year, as part of a larger conflict that may have claimed as many as 2 million lives.

The Tigray War in Ethiopia over the last three years (which you may have missed because the media chose not to hysterically cover every single bomb dropped and protesters stayed home knitting instead of blocking traffic) may have cost the lives of between 80,000 to 600,000 people.

(El Pais, Spain’s newspaper, which did report on Ethiopia’s civil war, described it as “the deadliest of the 21st century” and then had to pivot to argue later that Israel was worse in, “25,000 deaths in Gaza: Why the destruction of this war exceeds that of other major conflicts”.)

In reality, every significant war and civil war in the region had a much higher death toll than the Hamas war: including the Iraq-Iran War with an estimated 500,000 to 2 million deaths. And in nearby Africa, the Congo War has been blamed for 6 million deaths since 1996.

How does the media justify arguing that 25,000 is more than 2 million?

There are plenty of statistical gimmicks available to anyone who wants to argue that 2 + 2 is really 5. Media “analyses” that claim that Israel’s campaign against Hamas is the deadliest and most destructive, and might even be worse than WWII, adjust their claims accordingly.

As the author of every dubious research study knows, to get the results you want, you manipulate your parameters. Media analyses selectively compare Israel’s campaign to battles, rather than wars, they narrowly focus on very specific timetables, they try to estimate per capita rather than gross figures. But drawing a circle around a particular area and going per capita works both ways. The Hamas attack of Oct 7 killed 10% of the population of Kibbutz Be’eri making it far worse per capita than anything in Israel’s response to those atrocities.

But statistical fudging is all in where the line is drawn to achieve a particular agenda.

For example, the New York Times declares that, “Gaza Deaths Surpass Any Arab Loss in Wars With Israel in Past 40 Years”. Of course the last major Arab-Israeli war took place 50 years ago.

The 40 year figure is based on the Lebanon War, but the actual numbers for that war vary wildly from the thousands according to Israel, 10,000 according to the CIA, 18,000 according to Lebanon and 30,000 according to Arafat and the PLO.

While the media at the time emphasized the highest estimates, in order to criticize the Israeli campaign against the PLO, they now use lower estimates to attack the Gaza campaign.

for those who dont know, the phrase "final solution" is indicative of the “Final Solution of the Jewish Question”, a euphemism used by Nazi Germany’s leaders. It referred to the mass murder of Europe’s Jews. It brought an end to policies aimed at encouraging or forcing Jews to leave the German Reich and other parts of Europe. Those policies were replaced by systematic annihilation.

This should terrify you. Remember: these statements are pre-approved. They know what they're saying.

U.S. AMBASSADOR CALLS FOR ‘FINAL SOLUTION’ TO PALESTINE QUESTION

Moments after vetoing a UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, US ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield told the press that Washington would pursue what she termed as a ‘final solution’ to the conflict.

That reminded some of the ‘Final Solution to the Jewish Question,’ a N*zi plan to exterminate the Jewish population in Europe. Whether she meant that or not, it came across as a tone-deaf response negating the grave situation facing Gaza’s people and ignoring the United States’ role in perpetuating the brutal Israeli occupation Palestinians have endured for more than 75 years.

Since 7 October, Washington has reportedly supplied 21,000 precision-guided munitions, including 100 2,000-pound ‘bunker buster’ bombs designed to penetrate hardened structures or underground targets. The remaining weapons are reportedly able to sustain 18 more weeks of bombardments. This is on top of the $3.8 billion the US annually gives Tel Aviv to beef up its military. Plus, billions more in US military aid have been proposed since the escalation began.

Israel has killed close to 30,000 Palestinians and has forced 1.9 million—85 per cent of Gaza residents—to flee their homes. More US arms are reportedly on the way as Tel Aviv prepares to invade Rafah, where 1.5 million Palestinians are trapped on the border with Egypt.

In the bustling suburb of Greenfield Heights, where streets lined with oak trees whispered secrets in the wind, lived two inseparable friends: Yuta and her. They’ve had been neighbors since childhood, their houses separated only by a narrow lane that they traversed together every day to and from school.

The girl was the quiet, introspective type, known for her love of books and her insightful observations about the world around her. Yuta, on the other hand, was the extroverted adventurer, always seeking out new thrills and leading the way in their escapades. Meanwhile, maki yuta loyal wingwoman , would jokingly hint at Yutas infatuation whenever she was within earshot, causing yuta to playfully shove her while denying everything with a laugh.

One crisp autumn afternoon, as they walked home together through the golden haze of falling leaves, she felt a surge of courage swell within her chest. The sunlight filtered through the trees, casting dappled patterns on the pavement as they strolled side by side.

"Yuta," the girl began hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Yuta turned to look at her, his expression curious yet attentive. "Yeah?

She took a deep breath, her heart pounding with nervous anticipation. "There's something I've been wanting to tell you," she confessed, her words coming out in a rush. "I...before she could say anything else she sees the most popular girl in their school waiting for them to stop talking while listening intensely."

249 DAYS OF ISRAELI GENOCIDE IN GAZA: US CEASEFIRE PROPOSAL PASSED BY UN SECURITY COUNCIL, HAMAS POLITICAL LEADERSHIP ACCEPTS PROPOSAL, PALESTINIAN RED CRESCENT ISSUES WARNING OVER ISRAELI CO-OPTING HUMANITARIAN AID TRUCK FOR MILITARY OPERATIONS, OCCUPATION ARMY CONTINUES SLAUGHTERING CIVILIANS

On 249th day of the Israeli occupation's ongoing special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 3 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 40 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, while another 120 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.

It should be noted that as a result of the constant Israeli bombardment of Gaza's healthcare system, infrastructure, residential and commercial buildings, local paramedic and civil defense crews are unable to recover countless hundreds, even thousands, of victims who remain trapped under the rubble, or who's bodies remain strewn across the streets of Gaza.

This leaves the official death toll vastly undercounted as Gaza's healthcare officials are unable to accurately tally those killed and maimed in this genocide, which must be kept in mind when considering the scale of the mass murder.

“Today we voted for peace."

Those are the words of United States ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield after the UN Security Council (UNSC) voted in favor of an American draft proposal for a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement, previously announced by American President Joe Biden on May 31st, 2024.

She noted that “the ceasefire agreement would pave the way toward a permanent cessation of hostilities and a better future for all.”

“Today we adopted the fourth resolution on this conflict. It is the fourth time that we have spoken and made clear that the only way to end this cycle of violence and build lasting peace is through a political settlement... Today we also affirmed our commitment to the vision of a two-state solution in which Israelis and Palestinians live side by side," Thomas-Greenfield added.

The American draft resolution was supported by 14 member-states, while the Russian Federation abstained from voting to allow the draft resolution to pass unhindered.

In its first phase, the American draft plan would begin with an immediate and complete ceasefire. The plan also includes a prisoner release and exchange deal, and calls for the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from population centers in the Gaza Strip while allowing Palestinian families to return to their demolished homes and neighborhoods in all areas of the enclave, including northern Gaza.

The first phase will also include the distribution of "effective and widespread" humanitarian assistance "throughout" the Gaza Strip to all "Palestinians in need", including new housing units, to be provided by the international community.

The second phase of the plan includes a permanent cessation of hostilities in exchange for the release of all prisoners being held in Gaza, while the Israeli occupation forces will withdraw completely from the Strip.

Phase three would entail the complete reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, while details of the plan rejects any attempts to alter Gaza's demographic make-up or to change or harm its territorial integrity.

In the meantime, a senior Hamas official, Sami Abu Zuhri, has said the resistance movement accepts the American resolution approved by the Security Council.

Zuhri says the resistance movement is prepared to enter into negotiations on the implementation of the resolution, calling on the United States to ensure the Israeli occupation acts accordingly.

"The American administration is facing a real test in terms of its ability to ensure that the occupying entity implements its obligations to end the war immediately in accordance with the Security Council resolution," Zuhri added.

In other news, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) issued a warning today, Tuesday, June 11th, raising alarms about the danger presented by the Israeli occupation forces who used a humanitarian aid truck to disguise its forces during a recent armed assault on the Nuseirat Camp, in central Gaza, that was responsible for killing 274 Palestinians and wounding another 698 others, during an extraction of four Israeli hostages being held in the camp.

In a statement, the medical aid association said that the disguising of soldiers inside a humanitarian aid truck is considered a war crime against civilians, and constitutes a "clear violation" of international humanitarian and customary law that prohibits the crime of treachery.

In this case, the treachery being the betrayal of civilians by disguising the Israeli occupation forces under the guise of humanitarian aid amidst a civilian group that is suffering from extreme levels of food insecurity.

The humanitarian organization called on the international community to hold the Zionist entity accountable for its war crimes, and to deter the occupation from committing further massacres and crimes.

PRCS also called on the international community to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip, and, in accordance with international law, to protect humanitarian aid and medical workers trying to save lives.

Meanwhile, the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip went on into Tuesday, with the usual bombing and shelling that continues to pummel residential neighborhoods and public infrastructure.

South of Gaza, the Israeli occupation forces advanced into the Shaboura Refugee Camp, in central Rafah, coinciding with armed clashes with resistance forces which resulted in the deaths of several Zionist soldiers when a booby-trapped house occupied by the soldiers was detonated by the resistance.

At the same time, occupation forces destroyed most of the homes in the Swedish village, along the shore of the Rafah coast, while opening fire on the tents of displaced Palestinian families, killing five civilians and wounding 20 others who were transported to the Nasser medical complex in Khan Yunis.

In Khan Yunis itself, Zionist warplanes bombed a residential home belonging to the Kaware family in the Al-Manara neighborhood, south of the city.

Additionally, local rescue crews and residents recovered the dead bodies of three Palestinians from the Tal al-Sultan neighborhood, west of Rafah, after the Israeli occupation army conducted violent airstrikes on the neighborhood, coinciding with intense artillery shelling of several other neighborhoods in the city.

North of Gaza, local civil defense personnel recovered the bodies of 8 martyrs, the majority of whom were children, along with several other wounded civilians, from under the rubble after occupation aircraft bombed a house belonging to the Ashour family in the Al-Daraj neighborhood of central Gaza City.

Another occupation airstrike hammered the residential home of the Shaldan family in the Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City, killing four civilians and wounding a number of others, while Israeli warplanes raided the city of Beit Lahiya.

In another horrific atrocity, Israeli fighter jets bombed a house belonging to the Abu Elba family, in the Abu Iskandar area of the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza City. Following the strike, local civil defense personnel managed to recover the body of one martyr and a number of wounded civilians, while the search continues for several missing persons who remain under the rubble.

Similarly, in the central Gaza Strip, three Palestinian civilians were killed, and others wounded, following an Israeli airstrike on the residential home belonging to the Al-Tilbani family in the Al-Khawalda neighborhood, west of Al-Zawaida. The dead included two children and their father; Reham and Musab Al-Talbani, and Hisham Al-Tilbani.

Witnesses reported another occupation airstrike on a residential house in the Nuseirat Camp, resulting in a number of casualties, including several deaths.

Zionist artillery detatchments also intermittently shelled the north of the Nuseirat Camp, while two Palestinians were murdered by the live bullets of Zionist soldiers while attempting to return to their homes in northern Gaza from the south.

Meanwhile, a Israeli occupation drone targeted a gathering of civilians on Al-Sahaba Street in central Gaza, slaughtering three Palestinians and wounding several others.

As a result of the Israeli occupation's ongoing special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, the endlessly rising death toll now exceeds 37'164 Palestinians killed, including over 15'000 children and upwards of 10'000 women, while another 84'832 others have been wounded since the start of the current round of Zionist aggression, beginning with the events of October 7th, 2023.

The Chacoan peccary is so elusive that scientists believed it was extinct until its “discovery” in 1975. Today, only 3,000 remain in the [...] forests and lagoons of the Gran Chaco region, which stretches across northern Argentina, Paraguay and southern Bolivia, and comprises more than 50 different ecosystems.

Micaela Camino, who works with the Indigenous Wichí and Criollo communities to protect the animals and their land rights in Argentina, knows how difficult to find they can be. She has only seen one Chacoan peccary, or quimilero, in 13 years [...], but has fallen in love with the critically endangered mammal [...]. “I was told that the Chacoan peccary was extinct outside protected areas when I first started,” says Camino. “So when we found it, I thought it was great. We set up monitoring to find more in one of the most isolated parts of the dry Chaco. But then the loggers started to come.”

The Gran Chaco, South America’s second-largest forest after the Amazon, is one of the most deforested places on Earth.

Every month, more than 133 square miles is lost, cleared for vast soya farms and cattle ranches that export to markets in the US, China and Europe – including UK supermarkets, according to a joint Guardian investigation in 2019. However, the loss is largely ignored on the international stage, receiving little conservation money or celebrity attention in comparison with the Amazon.

The area is home to charismatic species such as the maned wolf, the giant armadillo and the jabiru, many of which are not found anywhere else on Earth.

At current rates of deforestation, the mosaic of life in the Gran Chaco could collapse entirely. The loss of the Chacoan peccary would be guaranteed this time. Unlike the Amazon, there are few academic studies on tipping points and the forest’s waning ability to support itself as the climate changes and land is cleared, but people who live here are seeing the changes. In Paraguay, the success [of farming and ranching] [...] has transformed the country into one of the most important beef producers in the world, largely at the expense of the forest, dubbed “the green hell” by early settlers from Canada.

“The Gran Chaco has been at a crossroads for a long time,” says Gastón Gordillo, a professor of anthropology at the University of British Columbia. “The 2007 forest law in Argentina did manage to slow some deforestation, but it also created the paradox by establishing legitimate ways of destroying the forest.” [...] However, a new motorway in Paraguay appears likely to open up more of the region to ranching. “The agribusiness sector in Argentina is very powerful,” says Gordillo [...]

For the Chacoan peccary, research indicates there are only 30 years left to save the species, with current deforestation rates meaning all of its habitat outside protected areas will have gone by 2051.
