oh remember your post about apollo’s relationship with gods from other pantheons? and you mentioned the hittites? well i’ve been rereading THO and during music class apollo mentions how he created the guitar during a crazy party with the hittites 😭
HOLY SHIT WELL THERE WE HAVE IT
They DO stay in contact with each other!!!!!
Okay okay, WHAT IF-
Apollo & Apaliunas are still separate gods, but they also share brain space at times. Like. more often than not it's Apaliunas getting shlorped into Apollo's head because he's the older version of him and during those times Apollo's more Hittite than Greek.
Same with Aplu. Apollo becomes more of an Italian-Etruscan god, Celtic with Grannus, Phoenician with Resheph, ect.
WHAT DO WE THINK TOA FANDOM?

To Apollon
Hail Apollo! Beloved from Greece to Rome to Gaul, And of Gaul I do Honor thee, And all your faces! Shining Belenus, the sun who shines upon my skin, The healing Grannus, who tends to the sacred springs, To Maponos, the beloved bard, and keeper of the autumnal sun. O Apollon, Sanavolos I call thee, When I see your raven, I see you, When I feel the sun warming my flesh, I feel you, Bearer of the light, I adore thee!

Beltane is mentioned in the earliest Irish literature and is associated with important events in Irish mythology. Also known as Cétshamhain ('first of summer'), it marked the beginning of summer & was when cattle were driven out to the summer pastures. Rituals were performed to protect cattle, people & crops, and to encourage growth. (Today, Witches who observe the Wheel of the Year celebrate Beltane as the height of Spring.)
Special bonfires were kindled, whose flames, smoke & ashes were deemed to have protective powers. The people and their cattle would walk around or between bonfires & sometimes leap over the flames or embers. All household fires would be doused & then re-lit from the Beltane bonfire.
These gatherings would be accompanied by a feast, and some of the food and drink would be offered to the aos sí. Doors, windows, byres and livestock would be decorated with yellow May flowers, perhaps because they evoked fire.
In parts of Ireland, people would make a May Bush: typically a thorn bush or branch decorated with flowers, ribbons, bright shells & rushlights. Holy wells were also visited, while Beltane dew was thought to bring beauty & maintain youthfulness.
• The aos sí (often referred to as spirits or fairies) were thought to be especially active at Beltane. Like Samhain, which lies directly opposite from Beltane on the Wheel of the Year, this was seen as a time when the veil between worlds was at its thinnest. At Samhain the veil between the worlds of the living & the dead is thin enough that we can connect & convene with our beloved dead, here at Beltane it’s the veil between the human world, and the world of faeries & nature spirits that has grown thin. Offerings would be left at the ancient faerie forts, the wells and in other sacred places in an effort to appease these nature spirits to ensure a successful growing season.
Some believe this is when The Goddess is now the Mother & the God is seen as the Green Man or the wild stag. It celebrates the symbolic union, mating or marriage of the Goddess & God & heralds in the coming summer months. It represents life rather than Samhain on the opposite side of the Wheel of the Year.
Other Celebrations:
• Rosealia- May 23rd
Rosalia or Rosaria was a festival of roses celebrated on various dates, primarily in May, but scattered through mid-July. The observance is sometimes called a rosatio ("rose-adornment") or the dies rosationis, "day of rose-adornment," & could be celebrated also with violets. As a commemoration of the dead, the rosatio developed from the custom of placing flowers at burial sites. It was among the extensive private religious practices by means of which the Romans cared for their dead, reflecting the value placed on tradition (mos maiorum, "the way of the ancestors"), family lineage & memorials ranging from simple inscriptions to grand public works. Several dates on the Roman calendar were set aside as public holidays or memorial days devoted to the dead.
Roses had funerary significance in Greece, but were particularly associated with death & entombment among the Romans. In Greece, roses appear on funerary steles & in epitaphs most often of girls. Flowers were traditional symbols of rejuvenation, rebirth &memory, with the red & purple of roses & violets felt to evoke the color of blood as a form of propitiation

| Selcouth | Chapter one: space station |

Platonic! Yandere! alien x reader
Warnings: Yandere behaviour, violence, death
Summary: While recovering a space capsule your astronaut team discovers an intelligent life form that seems to be a little too attached to you.
Word count: 1,246
Chapters: | one | two | three | four |
A/n: Hey! This is my first ever story that I have posted to tumblr, please go easy on it. Anyway thank you for reading <3
~
“Datalog: entry number 1
Our team of astronauts has finally made it near the orbit of Grannus. Hopefully, the capsule containing the samples taken from Grannus arrives soon. I have a feeling that—" Just as you were about to end your data entry, your favorite person on board interjects.
"Hey, whatcha doing?" You turn around, jumping a little while doing so.
"Oh hey, David! You scared me." David is one of the two people you are currently stationed with inside of the White Sparrow, working as a pilot. He is the only person on this ship you actually enjoy having a conversation with, which isn't saying much, but you really do appreciate having him near you.
"My bad, girly," David replies with a disingenuous tone, laughing a little while he says it. This is one of the reasons why you absolutely love having him around; he always makes you laugh even if it's at the expense of you being teased—which it often is. Not to mention, David is a gorgeous man. You don't feel any attraction to him, but you can admit that he is beautiful. David is a brunette with brown eyes, tan skin, and huge muscles. And by huge muscles, you mean HUGE muscles; seriously, you've seen the man pick up 300 pounds of equipment like it's nothing.
"What's with the new addition of data logs?" David releases his hold from your shoulder, giving you a curious look.
"I want to document everything about this trip, seeing as we could make a huge scientific breakthrough."
"Understandable, however, don't you think you could use other methods of documenting like, um, I don't know, typing on a computer?" With a curious look shifting to an awkward one, David rubs the back of his neck.
"I mean, I have no issue with the data logs, it's just that if the wicked witch of the west heard that, she would flip her shit," he says, trying to explain his last statement.
"Wicked witch of the west? You mean Isla?" Isla was the other person on the ship, working as the technician. Both of you disliked her; however, David disliked her much less than you. It's not like you hated the woman—in fact, you respected her—it's just that she would often belittle you for your attitude (she hated everyone with a positive outlook on life). She was the kind of person to go out of her way and look for any reason to yell at you. You could literally just be sitting there, and she would pull something out of thin air to throw at your face.
"Yes, as if that wasn't obvious already."
"Bro, you can't say that! What if she hears you? I don't wanna be turned into a frog because of your dumbness!"
“Im too pretty to be a frog” you hear David mutter.
"You're so full of yourself," you huff, rolling your eyes.
"Anyway, we should probably get to working before she gets on us." Sighing, David begins to make his way out of the living quarters and into his stationed area.
"Right." You follow him until you inevitably part ways, you going to the medical/research side of the space station and David going to the control room.
It's only 20 minutes later when you hear the devil herself start to lose her temper with you.
"What do you think you're doing!" Isla loudly exclaims. You literally were not doing anything; in fact, you were just passing through her station.
"Nothing."
"If it's nothing, then why do I see you tampering with my things?" You're starting to believe this woman is actually delusional.
"What are you talking about?"
"I can very clearly see you destroying my things," she says with an attitude as if you just dropped a bomb on her work station.
"I literally have not touched anything," giving her a dumbfounded look, you turn to start making your way back to your station.
"Whatever, just leave. If I find out that any of my things are missing, I'm reporting you." Did she literally just tell you to leave even though you were already doing so? Did she actually just accuse you of stealing her things? What is her problem?
"Whatever you say, man." Not wanting to pick a fight, you quicken your pace and make your leave. Despite Isla's horrible personality and overall attitude, she was a very beautiful woman. Isla is a thin, tall brunette with striking blue eyes. She has tan skin and an award-winning smile.
While leaving, you catch a look at one of Isla's monitors. It shows a red blinking dot rapidly approaching the station. You see her turn and give you a look as if you caused it. You were about to question what it was, but you quickly didn't. You already know questioning her won't do you any good, so you go to David. David explains that it's the capsule you and your team have been trying to get your hands on for the past 2 months.
"Datalog: entry number 2
According to our radars, the capsule is headed off track and is rapidly heading towards our location. Isla is currently getting the space station ready to accommodate the capsule." Ending the data log, you look over to Isla's annoyed face. She clearly didn't enjoy you having data logs, but she will just have to deal with it. Slowly, the capsule docks at the end of the space station, locking in place and securing itself on board.
"Great work out there, Isla!" you exclaim, giving her a thumbs up. Isla just stared at you with a bored expression.
"…" You sat there for a good ten seconds waiting for any type of response from Isla, just to get nothing.
"Fantastic job out there, Isla! I knew we could count on you!" David shouts while walking through the door.
"Thank you, David." Wooowwwwww, she really told him thank you even though you basically said the same thing. It's obvious who the favorite is.
Making your way up to the capsule, you begin to unlatch the door. Stepping through the capsule, you look around at the samples the robot on Grannus collected.
"What do we have here?" you say, paying close attention to a certain glass box. It looked like it was moving.
"No fucking way! Oh my god! No fucking way!!!" You shout, running towards the box, missing the nasty look Isla was giving you.
"What is that thing?" Isla says, sounding absolutely disgusted.
"I have no idea," you answer, feeling as though you were on cloud nine. You quickly begin to pick the box up and set it on a table that didn't have anything else on it. The creature in the box was not like anything you have ever seen before. In the middle of its body (?) there seemed to be a closed lily-looking shape that was white. Going out from the middle of the creature, there were four central appendages, all reaching a span of about 21 centimeters. Connecting those appendages was an almost translucent film of cloth-like membrane. In fact, all of the creature seemed to be made of cloth.
"Should we contact the people back on Earth?" you question.
"Yeah, but the signal won't reach them for another 2 weeks," David answered after not speaking for a while.
"I'll get to that right now because whatever that thing is freaks me out," Isla says, walking out of the capsule looking as though she was going to puke.
"Your loss," you mutter.

HI GINGER :D
TIS ME, ALDER
anyway so i am on the HUNT for celtic apollo refs for my essay, and google is failing me so i have turned to tumblr to continue my hunt and i found you rambling about celtic apollo SO I MUST ASK-
may i be allowed a peek at thy findings? 👀
HELLO ALDER, THANK YOU FOR REACHING OUT
I've been compiling info on this topic for quite some time but I should ask - how good is your french? LMFAO I have a couple english essays handy - off the top of my head Sommer's 'Apollo Grannus and the Emperor Enchanted', 'M.Ahl's 'Amber, Avalon and Apollo's Singing Swan' and Prosper's "The Irreducible Gauls used to swear by Belenos - Or did they?" but I've definitely lost access to the latter in the switch between my laptops ;-; That said, there are also some really great books such as Miranda J Green's 'The Celtic World' that goes through some of her findings on these beliefs and cultural connections through time but for the most part, a rather lot of this information is in French or German (especially if you're looking for free information that's found its way onto the web)
I'm more than happy to share my resources with you through DM though :D If you're researching a particular cult or figure of Celtic Apollo (Apollo Grannus, Apollo Belenus, Maponos, even arguments made for an Apollo-Lugh figure) then please let me know and I'll see if I can find more pertinent articles as well!
All the best in your essay too <33 Just shoot me a message whenever
#ginger answers asks#CELTICPOLLO CELTICPOLLO#THERE ARE A TON OF REALLY GREAT ARTICLES AND ESSAYS I DIDN'T NAMEDROP HERE BTW#'Canudos and Belenos'#'Navan and Apollo' which argues that Cu Chulainn is an incarnation of Apollo in the Ulster Cycle#The Origin and Transformation of a Celtic Divinity is also an interesting one#But I defo don't have that essay laying around anymore LMFAO#The point is there's a lot there even if you can't read french (neither can I)#Detienne's works in his original french still elude me alas but you make do when you can#apollo

Week 2: Goddess Sirona “She Who Makes Us Better"

Sirona is a Gaulish/Celtic healing deity. Her cult predates the Romans, but all her iconography comes from the Romanization of Gaul, and her worship was widely spread all over Europe from Hungary to Brittany.
Many artifacts of her worship come from the Treveri in the Moselle Valley who venerated Sirona and built the rich healing shrine at Hochscheid. Shrines to Sirona have been found at Niedaltdorf, Bitburg, and Wiesbaden in Germany, and Metz, Luxeuil, and Corseul (Brittany) in France.
Her statues appear both alone and with Apollo Grannus or Apollo Borvo. The Romans interpreted Sirona as Hygeia, daughter of the healer-god Asclepius and granddaughter of Apollo, and her imagery indicates references to the chthonic mystery cults, including ears of corn, associated with Demeter and the Eleusinian Mysteries.
She is often shown with the snake and bowl of eggs, both symbols of regeneration and rebirth. The eggs represent the snake’s young, perhaps a fertility reference. While she normally wears a dress and sometimes even a veil, the bronze statue at Mâlain depicts Thiron(a) semi-nude with a serpent on her arm.
The context of her artifacts stress her role as one who heals through hot springs. Healing sanctuaries at springs drew large numbers of pilgrims who came there to spend the night. Hygeia/Salus protected against danger and cured mental as well as physical illness, it was believed Sirona did as well.
An inscription at Le Mans calls her Serona Sivelia, “She Who Makes Us Better.”
Her partner, however, is Atesmerius, whose name comes from the same root as Rosmerta and Smertios, and means “Provider.”
It has been speculated based upon linguistic evidence that Sirona was a ‘star’ goddess. The ancient Transalpine Gaulish word for ‘star’ was ‘sirom‘, related to the Latin word ‘Sidus‘ (from which we get the word ‘Sidereal’). The 116 Sirona is an asteroid named in her honor.
Sirona is possibly syncretized with a goddess known elsewhere as Divona/Dirona, the goddess Damona (meaning “the Great Cow” possibly a connection to the nakshatra of Pushya), and the river goddess Verbia. (The rippling motion of the snake can symbolize the motions of the water).
Celebration: Sirona can be honored during the Telesphorus Festival in January, on the festival of Salus in March and with Apollo or Grannus in July.
Reading from Goddess Sirona

Card 12 - Nephthys, Purpose, Peace, Understanding
“Mistress of the Gateways, illuminate my purpose.”
Sirona locates herself at life’s beginning and life’s end, in our dream states and waking states. She is our constant companion. She calls to Healers specifically, encouraging them to be extremely devoted to their paths.
Sirona is fiercely loyal to her devotees, and possesses the ability to transform or change even impossible situations. Sirona is a very humanitarian deity, many of the innovations in medicine are divine inspiration from Her. Much of the knowledge of healing is in the intuition. She would like her memory on Earth to be recovered and remembered.
Sirona emphasizes the healing power of love.
Our Lady of the Sacred Son: Within your heart is a love that is unconditional, compassionate, and healing. From that love, emerges wisdom and the capacity to make choices based on what holds essential meaning and value to your soul.
Sri Varahi-Pada: The knowledge of life Sirona calls us to detach the body from the ego.

not sure if anyone's asked you this before/yet, but so you have any opinions or thoughts of the relationship between all of the pantheons? general relationship and possibly some more personal ones?
I've read many different headcanons and fanfiction where people have mentioned their thoughts on it, but nothing they've ever gone into detail about.
there's nothing really preventing them from interacting *👀 I keep remembering the smallest tiniest hint of freypollo we got* but that doesn't mean they go out of their way doing it, yk?
OKAY SO-
The pantheons I'll be mainly focusing on are the Greek, Roman, Norse, & Egyptian ones. I'll probably make little nods to other ones too tho :3
Don't be surprised if this mainly centers on Apollo XD He's my guy <3
GREEK & ROMAN
Let's kick it off with these two!
"But aren't they the same-?"
Nope! The Roman pantheon started off as their own sets of gods - the thing is, they had very little myths written down so we don't know much about how they were characterized :(
Howmever. We do know that when they were synchronized with Greece's gods, you can see the little differences between them - for instance, the Roman gods were more Forces Of Nature than gods who went out and Did Stuff, like Greece's.
Jupiter for example! He didn't have the "fucks around" rep Zeus does! Jupiter from the Roman's perspective didn't go out and do much. He rooted on Aeneus, yes, but the myths of his children weren't quite as popular in Rome as they were in Greece (probably because they were. ya know. Greek heroes, and not Roman)
And Apollo. Oh, Apollo...the only major god who didn't have a Latin equivalent.
Rome loved you so much they adopted you and went "no. no. he was always here. no we aren't lying. see? he's in the Dii Consentes!" XD
Fun Fact: Apollo is basically multiple gods in a trench coat. Paion (Mycenean), Smitheus (Mycenean), Aplu (Etruscan), Apaulinus (Hittie), Grannus (Celtic), ect were all Apollo-equivalents who historians have concluded to be past incarnations of Apollo!
which is INTERESTING because...do those gods still exist in the RRverse? Are they connected to Apollo in some way? Are they little voices in his head? DO THEY HAVE DRINKS TOGETHER?
I have questions and I need answers.
Greek & Egyptian
Saving the Norse for last because we all wanna save Freypollo for last <3 the best for last lmao
RIGHT OFF THE BAT I'M GONNA SAY THAT ZEUS DOESN'T LIKE THE OTHER PANTHEONS! I BET HE DOESN'T!
Which sucks for him because Apollo has friends in Egypt XD
I do think Apollo and Horus would be friends! Not only are they both associated with the sun in some way, but they were actually identified with each other when Greece met Egypt!
Greece: Oh so you have a super-powerful son of the king of the gods associated with light? So do we! :D
Egypt: Oh my gosh we do! :D
You know the myth of Typhon? Apollo transformed into a hawk to escape, and you know who has a hawk head?
Horus. :D
also Horus took over the thrown from Osiris - sure, not in an overthrow way but still. he overthrew Set and claimed the throne
sounds like something we all want hmm...
Also, I headcanon that Helios and Ra go WAAAAYYYY back and Apollo only met Ra like. once. before Isis did her blackmailing and Ra disappeared.
SO WHEN RA CAME BACK, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN DURING HOO BTW, APOLLO HAS NO IDEA! HE'S ON DELOS AT THAT POINT! THEN HIS TRIALS!
So when he rolls up to the next sun god meeting he sees Ra and is like "wait what who are you- OH WAIT!"
And Ra's like; "WHO LET THIS CHILD BE PUT IN CHARGE OF THE SUN???"
Apollo: I'm over 4,000 years old-
Ra, pointing: BABY
(Headcanon that Ra & Amaterasu are like. the defacto sun god 'leaders' who keep the meetings rolling. Amaterasu was very tired when Ra disappeared and she had to wrangle these fiery gods together XD)
(Also Helios thought Horus was a lil' upstart XD)
Finally, I also saw someone else mention that Apollo could have learned some Egyptian magic and used it to create the border of CHB!
Headcanon Hecate snuck along with him and it's their little secret :3
Greek & Norse
HERE. WE. ARE.
LEMME GET MY MAP OUT
SO.
Green highlight is where Greece is. Blue is where Hyperborea is (see this post for details)
In that post, I came to the conclusion that Apollo Totally Definitely Has Met Norse Gods BECAUSE OF HIS WINTER VACATIONS!
AND IF YOU LOOK ACROSS THE BALTIC SEA-
STOCKHOLM.
AND WHERE DID APOLLO MEET THAT HOT GOD WITH A TALKING SWORD???
A TAVERN. IN. STOCKHOLM!
FREYPOLLO LIVES (<-knows very well it's basically already canon XD)
Fun fact: the people of Hyperborea were most likely the mythological avatars of the Norse people! :D
SO I CONCLUDE-
Apollo takes a trip across the Baltic Sea and flirts in the Stockholm tavern and that's how Freypollo happens <3
Other Pantheon Thoughts
Hindu: This thought came while I was creating my @underrated-lovers-of-apollo-poll - Apollo & Indra!
They shared an elephant ride that one time! Wouldn't it be fun if they also kissed? :3
also Indra is a storm god with thunder and lightning think of the angst-
Shinto: Amaterasu taught Apollo Japanese when he discovered the haiku for the first time - sadly, only Athena ever bothered to learn it to experience the haiku in its fullest. pushing my sibling agenda again haha
Because haikus always sound better in their native language <3
Hittie: This connects to the 'Apollo trenchcoat' thing earlier - if Apollo is like. the current form of Apaulinus, would the Hittie pantheon like. drop in from time to time like 'heyyyy we miss you <3'
Apollo: *trojan war flashbacks*
Apaulinus was heavily associated with Wilusa, whom historians have confirmed was Troy, and Apollo's first temple doesn't show up under AFTER the bronze age collapse and the war happened BEFORE that happened meaning HE WAS APAULINUS WHEN THE WAR HAPPENED MY HEART-
i need to look into more pantheons. it's so much fun making these connections and coming up with headcanons for the RRverse :3

The new Roman Emperor and his family. Back row: Inanna (Brigid's daughter with Geb) holding Arethusa, their youngest child; and Oko, oldest surviving son of Oya and Ogun Burn, holding Irkalla, their next-youngest; this is the second marriage for both.
Middle row, from left: Taweret (the oldest, Oko's daughter with Hathor) Dedun, Oko's son with Hathor, and Gula, his oldest daughter with Inanna.
Front row, seated: Shamash, Inanna's son with Dagon, and Mehit, Dedun's twin.
In the second photo, we have the staff: Hera Berry, out-of-wedlock daughter of Rhea Berry and Amon Stone, working as a servant while she waits for her boyfriend to be old enough to marry; she's technically a plebeian, by virtue of her surname. The teens are Gobannus Moss, son of Grannus and Pomona and a cousin to Hera through their mothers; and Cybele Moss, cousin to Gobannus through their fathers (and actually a cousin to the royal family as well.)
I may suck at architecture but I kind of enjoy landscaping. Inside half the walls are unpainted and they don't have enough beds for everyone yet, and the Imperial Kitties keep using marble statues as scratching posts. But by god they've got trees.

wanting to put my druidic path in a predominantly Celtic (continental Celtic as well as Old British to be exact.. sorry Irish Ancestors.) path so i've been through the help of the internet, coming up with constructed names for the roman deities, and coming up with syncretizations either through history or UPG. For Diana - Adruinna/Louna/Adsagsona Arduinna being the manifestation of the huntress and wilderness Diana, Louna being Luna, and Adsagsona (who we know very little of other than she's a cthonic witching goddess) for Trivia. As for Diana-Nemorensis, she appears to me as Nemetona. For Apollo (this is where it gets really messy) - Grannus is the name I call upon in regards to healing, and I call on Grannus alongside Sirona. In regards to Apollo as the Aradian-Lucifer, I feel that Lugus and Endovelicus both could fill that role. Though Lugus is more associated with Mercury that Apollo, I also tie Lugus to Lugh because of the light aspect. And Both Lucifer and Lugh are known to be mercurial trickster figures. In the fall I usually call to Apollo as Maponos. The Horned One - He's already VERY syncretic in terms of existence, so the name I call him varies based on how he shows himself to me. As the Folk Devil/Witches' Devil, he's usually Lupercus, who through demonization, is syncretized with Lucifer, but historically also Faunus. The Devil as Lightbearer to me is Cunamaglos (who i associate with Lupercus), Lugus, or Endovelicus (through Luciferian ties), and then as King of the Forest(both Folk Devil and Otherwise), Callirius. I dont really click with the name Cernunnos, but alternate spellings like Carneo or Carnonos, or Cernun, resonate a bit more. Cunamaglos also fills the role of my Wolf-Spirit deity in the masculine form. Fauna - Easy enough, Fauna is Druantia. Both the feminine form of the Horned One, and also the personification of Druidry as a whole. She IS Nature personified, and kinda blends with Diana-Nemorensis to form Nemetona. As a fertility and underworld goddess (an epithet i use for Druantia is Bone-Mother, giving her a Cthonic link), she can be Aeracura. Thus giving names such as Druantia, Druantia-Nemetona, and Druantia-Aeracura. Her cthonic form is also linked to her fertility aspect as well, since life and death are two sides of the same coin, which is fitting as Aeracura is historically a cthonic and fertility goddess. I haven't quite figured out where Venus stands in all this, though I'm sure I'll figure it out in time. I also plan to Incorperate Brigantia into my practice, since she's another form of Brigid. I also want to form a relationship with Andraste, and can respark my relationship with An Morrigan/The Raven Queen under the name Cathubodua, which is the first name of hers that really resonated with me. As for Aradia, I Personally don't view Aradia as an external spirit, I feel she exists WITHIN the practicioner, as I view Witches as all of Diana/Adsagsona's children. Though Aradia very well may have been a physical person or deity at some point. I feel Aradia works WITHIN us.
