LISTEN TO EVERY WORD
Sarah Adams, Former Targeter at The CIA
Shawn Ryan “I just wanna clarify. You are 100% certain that there are 1,000+ Al-Qaeda trained fighters within the United States borders”
The CIA “I think there's more than a thousand Al-Qaeda members in the United States — Well, Al-Qaeda says they trained and deployed a thousand for this attack”
Sarah Adams then goes on to explain how there actually will probably be even more
During this Shawn Ryan Show episode they were talking about 50,000 - 60,000 Americans lives being lost to these upcoming attacks. 🤔

Prompt 152
A child has interrupted a Gala in Gotham, which wouldn’t be too much of a note except the fact that they’re obviously not human and they have an armful of scrolls. And look incredibly frazzled and exhausted.
Which, who wouldn’t be confused and curious about such a situation? Except asking the child what they’re doing here only causes more questions.
“So some dimensions’ governments are deeming undead and ecto-contaminated living as non-sentient, so uhm, we’re getting sent to send out these warnings to people in places that are in danger of that. As like a warning in case their government does the same? I-I don’t know I’m just the messenger :(“

This fic is going to be either a runaway success or so niche as to be unreadably boring to anyone who isn't a fan of budget tracking

For now, it's about 50/50 for whether or not these mysterious people that were included in the new trailer are members of the Gloriously Evolved. For fun, I'm going to break down why these people might be entirely unrelated to Viktor.
Tumblr media
First, their bodies are clearly inlaid with gold, which does not replace their flesh. In the brief scene we get of these people the gold works as a conduit between their melodies and the magic around them. Meanwhile hexcore has entirely transformed Viktor's hand and leg into metal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We know that Viktor's entire hand and leg have turned completely into metal because not only do his limbs make metal clinking noises and conduct electricity, but the animators on Bridging the Rift confirm it.
Tumblr media
I've also seen some mention that the markings on the faces of these unknown characters represent Viktor's touch when he "healed" them. Upon closer inspection each character does have a five markings on their face, but they're detailed runes rather than Viktor's hand print, implying this may be related to a more intricate ritual rather than Viktor simply laying his hand on them and transforming them with the hexcore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Really, these people have magic more similar to Mel Medarda. Mel is the one who appears to wear magical gold embedded in her skin to serve as protection magic. What Mel is doing with magic is likely far more simple compared to these people, but it's in the same vein. And that may be the entire point.
Tumblr media
Viktor and his cult are the outliers. Whatever Viktor has done in season 1, and what he will continue to do in season 2 is a divergence (possibly perversion) of how magic should work/be treated in the rest of Runeterra, which makes sense! Viktor literally said he doesn't know what he's doing, he just keeps going.
What's likely happening in this scene is that some sect of mages, maybe they're acolytes of the mage that saved Jayce have become aware of the magical shenanigans in PnZ... and it's bad.
Then again, I haven't seen the leaks. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think this is all worth pointing out. (This is not a solicitation to tell what happens in the leaks).

Managing Post Election: Basic Personal Preparedness
As a family who moves frequently, with a US government job that has us living overseas, I am used to being prepared for all contingencies. Given that many of us will be very vulnerable under the incoming administration, I am sharing my advice for getting prepared.
Make sure all your IDs are up to date.
This includes a copy of your social security card, birth certificate, and any licenses related to marriage. Don't have a driver’s license? Get your Real ID from the DMV. And if you don't have one, go get your passport, now.
For those who do not have US citizenship, the National Immigration Law Center has resources related to obtaining IDs, and much more.
Visit your medical provider.
Get a copy of your medical records, your prescriptions, etc. Make sure your vaccinations are up to date. If you use birth control consider stocking up - or switch to an IUD that does not require refills. If you have an IUD that should be replaced in the next four years, see if you can do so now.
Sadly, access to affordable sexual healthcare is nowhere near universal in the US as it is, and it is about to get worse. I will be looking for good resource lists on this very topic next.
Look at your finances.
If you don't have good record keeping in place, consider spending a bit of time to set that up. FEMA's Emergency Financial First Aid Kit (EFFAK) is a great place to start.
There is every chance that we are going to see increased market volatility, major changes in interest rates and tariffs, etc. If you are in any position to, pay down your debt as you can. If you have unavoidable major purchases pending, consider making them now.
What next?
Please note, this is in no way exhaustive, and I plan to do a few more of these posts for folks who might find them useful. I am not an expert, but I do have experience working in human services and I am a mean researcher. Leveraging our respective skills to support each other is how we survive and thrive.

"As for the government of the kingdom, [Edward V] had complete confidence in the peers of realm and the queen."
"According to the Crowland continuator, [Elizabeth Woodville] seems to have taken the king's place in listening to his council immediately after Edward IV's death. It does appear that she expected to have some role in her son's kingship, and the Crowland continuator’s report of the letters sent to her by [Richard of Gloucester] indicates that she had good reason to expect to be able to work with him and the other councillors: 'the duke of Gloucester wrote the most pleasant letters to console the queen; he promised to come and offer submission, fealty and all that was due from him to his lord and king, Edward V, the first-born son of his brother the dead king and the queen'."
"[However], in what was Gloucester's first coup, Edward V was separated from his household and Woodville advisors. When the young king questioned the move, Buckingham was reported to have told the boy 'It is not in the business of women but men to govern kingdoms'. The blunt remark referred to the authority of Elizabeth Woodville as queen and the power she must have anticipated within the new political climate left by Edward IV's sudden death [...] While the veracity of this scene is questionable*, the words attributed to the duke no doubt seemed plausible to Dominic Mancini who believed they exemplified the popular sentiment held by men [...]."
— Dominic Mancini, The Usurpation of Richard the Third / J.L. Laynesmith, The Last Medieval Queens: English Queenship 1445-1503 / Alexander R. Brondarbit, Power Brokers and the Yorkist State, 1461-1485
*One of Mancini's key sources seems to have been Edward V's own doctor, John Argentine, who attended to him in the Tower. It's very likely that he was the one who recounted this scene to Mancini, which suggests that it should probably be considered more credible than not.
#historicwomendaily#elizabeth woodville#wars of the roses#15th century#english history#my post#Croyland wrote that 'The counsellors of the king - now deceased - were present with the queen' so yes#He clearly seemed to view Elizabeth as taking on Edward's role after his death#Which is striking since her son - the new King - hadn't even arrived in London yet let alone be crowned#It's also interesting that Richard wrote letters to *her* rather than the rest of the council and that she was the final deciding authority#when it came to her son (she was the one who wrote to him for his military escort) - it's a clear indication of who was seen as important#This is also reflected in 16th century chronicles like the claim that the Archbishop of York gave Elizabeth the Great Seal#We don't know if this is true - the Archbishop was definitely opposed to Richard but More may have embellished or invented the story#But either way it reflects the perception that Elizabeth would have a major role in the realm's governance during her son's minority#Which makes sense as Edward V would have been used to his mother governing for him as part of his council his whole life#It's also interesting to compare the impression we get of Elizabeth's role with that of former kings' mothers in late medieval England#Because that can help us understand her activities (and perception of them) within proper context rather than purely in isolation#From what I understand kings' mothers could be very influential (eg: Joan of Kent) but were almost never visibly/directly associated#with the governance of the realm. It's striking that the most extreme and arguably the only exception - Isabella of France - assumed#her unofficial regent-like role only after literally deposing the former King aka her husband in the most atypical situation imaginable#So it's striking that Elizabeth *was* visibly and directly associated with it despite her situation being entirely standard; despite the#lack of precedents; and despite the physical absence of her son. Especially since she was effectively the king's mother for only 20 days#I do think it's possible to argue that it says something about her power as queen#(Edward *did* give her unusual positions of authority either way) and may also suggest a more direct personality on her part#It may also explain why historians were/are so readily prepared to believe that she wanted to 'usurp the sovereignty' to quote George Buck#Ofc this is my interpretation based on my (limited) knowledge - feel free to correct me

Speaker Mike Johnson is wasting no time stabbing Trump in the back, as Congress works to ram through a secretive $50 billion spending bill filled with favors before Trump takes office.

The bill includes funding for preparations against "Disease X" and research into medical countermeasures for unidentified viruses with "significant pandemic potential."

another 🏸 au that crossed my mind when cleaning the house lmao. gotta write it down first.
though they lived in athlete's dorm during their junior level years, ace and sabo enrolled at different high schools (since, sabo went to the most academically prestigious school (side-eyeing his parents)).
until one day, sabo had got called to the teacher's room just to find out he got several invitations from colleges; universities; and institutions, offering sport scholarships for his higher education after seeing his achievement winning many junior level international tournaments.
sabo didn't mind the idea of pursuing higher education, it had always been in his mind, going hand-in-hand with his pro badminton career. his homeroom teacher asked him to tell his national coaches first or more senior athletes to consider which institution had a history of giving their utmost support to their student-athletes.
"or, you can talk with your double partner first. i'm sure he got them too."
sabo asked ace during the after-school training.
and, yeah, ace got them too.
"dunno, haven't taken a good look at it. not that i'm interested," ace said while tying his shoe-lace. then, he glanced at sabo, "go for it, i know you like studying."
"i like it when no body told me to." sabo corrected ace hastily.
then sabo crouched down beside ace, he asked with a low voice, "should i tell my parents?"
ace shrugged. "you know them better. you should've known their answer."
true.
the invitations were not from the top, top schools. they were just considerably good. and the discipline that they offered, sport science, definitely something that his parents would be adamant to. not that sabo ever listened to his parents, though.
sabo folded his knees closer to his chest, lost in his own thoughts before ace gave him a soft knock on his crossed arms. "or we can talk to shanks and hack first. or senior athletes. i know some of them enrolled at these universities, they could give us insights."
"...'we'?"
that caught him off guards.
"yeah, tomorrow maybe?" ace stood up and stretched his arms at sabo, offering his hand to help him rise. "c'mon."
and sabo took it gladly, holding back a smile. they might have another planned future together that they could look forward to.
