got this reblog on one of my posts were i talked about being anxious about the future of the zelda series after totk and-

i even went back and unblocked them just to check my own post and check twice what they meant exactly- but i still dont know how they got to these conclusions

i never said i 'want a good uwu ganondorf' (bc that would mean hes aligned with hyrule bc thats how goodness works!!!!11!1!!!), i also dont think of any of the zeldas as 'whores' (seriously, where did that come from?? neither me nor the addition of someone agreeing with me said anything like that??? did they think bc the addition called tloz misogynistic means we think zelda is a whore????? huh???)

its also funny how they say they want zelda to stay a simple fairytale rather than have 'people like me' bc .. one point i talked about in the og post was how the evil arab thing VS good white people media likes to do so much is so normalized here that its simply seen as a simple harmless fairytale trope instead of a big underlying issue in general media and the writers might not even realize it (which is worse) bc the most 'generic' appeal is to people who dont think of it as a problem in the first place, because it is so normalized

(ALSO funny they mention princess hilda as nuanced villain ... like ... wow they are so nuanced about purple haired people!!- like guess why we want a nuanced/less badly/less flat written ganondorf and what he, in particular, has not in common with other villains! its not his hair color! .... or was that point supposed to mean .. look we have one female character that is a villain, its not misogynistic! idk honestly)

(also yes totk is racist, like most if not all of the franchise and a alot of other media as well, shocker- you can still like it though, i and plenty of other people are still fans of it, we just wish they did a little more with their stuff and maybe not make the racism problem WORSE)

The faultlines revealed in the BuckTommy breakup are not just shown in Buck moving faster than Tommy's pace/asking Tommy to move in with him rather than having a discussion about moving in together, but also in Tommy's reaction. The "you'll break my heart" speech shows affection, but it also shows a lack of trust and respect. Tommy doesn't take Buck's stated feelings and wants seriously because Tommy assumes his greater experience with men outweighs any ability of Buck to make his own judgement and/or Tommy is too busy projecting his intimacy issues onto the relationship to actually listen to Buck rather than his own biases. And maybe Buck rushing ahead in this moment gives him reason to question Buck's judgement, but rather than stating his own thoughts and having a discussion about it, Tommy dismisses the relationship entirely with the framing that Buck is intrinsically incapable of being a good partner to him and will inevitably hurt Tommy (and this is a problem specifically with dating Buck rather than a normal risk of emotionally deep relationships). And the whole setup is a mirror to their first conflict: Tommy walks out on the first date because he unilaterally decides Buck isn't ready (distinctly framing it as being intrinsic to Buck and Tommy who knows better doing him a favour, rather than Tommy acting on his own relationship preference or him choosing not to be with somebody at that stage of their journey or saying [not unreasonably] he was uncomfortable with Buck's actions after Eddie arrived). Buck gets carried away and says things without thinking through the consequences, but Tommy reacts to situations that would require him to resolve an emotional conflict by deflecting the entire thing onto the other party.

Neither side of the conflict is insurmountable but it is a conflict which has to be untangled from both sides because Buck needs to resist being a steamroller of impulsive overcompensating, but they also can't build a functional relationship if Buck is permanently on thin ice trying to avoid the next misstep which will make Tommy react with 'this is uncomfortable so there must be something wrong with you and this relationship could never work'.

the exchange with Draco at the Quidditch Cup while the Death Eaters are marauding around is so fascinating. On the one hand Draco's being rather horrible.

but on the other hand if you take out the insults and look at what he actually says he does warn them quite strongly several times that they need to get Hermione out of harm's way. he even specifically notes that the Death Eaters will head towards them and that Hermione is in particular danger since they will know her blood status (of course because Lucius is among them and will recognize her).

I don’t think Draco would admit even to himself that he's doing more than gloating but already I think a part of him is a bit conflicted and while the idea of what the Death Eaters stand for seems exciting to him (and is something he's been taught to support), the reality of seeing them actually attack someone he knows makes him uncomfortable.

he's probably grown up around very dehumanizing attitudes about Muggles but Hermione is someone he knows and deep down I think he realizes that she is most definitely a person and while taunting her is one thing, actually seeing harm come to her or to Ron and Harry (who would certainly try to help if she were attacked) doesn't appeal to him the way he's been taught it should.
